It Ends With Us - Tumblr Posts
all this fiasco around 'it ends with us' has made me lose the love I had for Blake Lively- dude branding a movie abt DV as the romcom of the year is just sick and twisted and promoting your new brand instead of actually taking about the issue what are we 2???? lol they even mean girl-ed Justin Baldoni who actually wants to talk about the real issue here- and there's this deadpool x wolverine x it ends with us drama
the fact that young adults would actually romanticize this shitshow is so disheartening, normalizing domestic violence is NOT OKAY

— It Ends With Us (é assim que acaba).
spoiler alert it ends with us
ok very mad rn. currently watching it ends with us and fucking hell. so basically i read the book after my friend suggested it to me a while ago and now in the movie i got up to the part where ryle breaks the glass and knocks lily to the ground and they made it SEEM LIKE A FUCKING ACCIDENT
YOU DONT KNOW HOW FUCKING PISSED I AM
in the book it very clearly wasnt an accident and for them to make it seem like it was in the movie so fucking fucked up as this is a serious issue.
fucks sake

being in the film adaptation of "it ends with us" book by Colleen Hoover is so devastating, like please just keep Taylor Swift and leave us good music.

Film; Name: It Ends with Us (2024); Production Studios: Wayfarer Studios, Saks Picture Company; Director by: Justin Baldoni; Screenwriter: Christy Hall; Starring: Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, Brandon Sklenar, Hasan Minhaj; Genres: Drama, Melodrama; Running Time: 2 hours 10 minutes;
It Ends with Us (2024) is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel that combines romance and domestic violence drama. Blake Lively conveys the emotions of the heroine well, but the film suffers from an uneven tone: romantic scenes contrast with the theme of violence, which sometimes looks unnatural. Although the acting is strong, the mixing of genres leaves a mixed impression.
Three stars — well played, but tonally unbalanced.
My rating:
⭐⭐⭐

all i'm gonna say is, ryle kincaid you would not survive amy dunne
IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover
Chills. Literal chills. It was amazing. From the beginning to the end. Honestly, I cried, but they were good tears.
I looked it up and apparently, they're going to make a movie based on the book. This news always makes me nervous. . .
Also, in another life, maybe I could have played Lily Bloom if I were old enough, though maybe that way I would have been disgracing the image I have of her in my head.

At this point i feel like coho is getting unnecessary hate. Saw a reel on Instagram where people trolling coho for launching it ends with us hoodies. I agree the coloring book idea was wrong but i don't see the point to hate the merchs launched. Even non-consensual dark romance books have their own merchs and people have no problem with that. It ends with us is not only about the abuse, its also about lily deciding to put an end to the abuse and move on. Hating has become a trend. I feel like people hate on others just to look cool. Grow up for heaven sake.
I just saw the trailer for It Ends With Us and is this about two addicts in love or something? I dunno, I'm getting weird vibes from the movie.
I'm reading November 9 right now and I'm sorry but what is the difference between Ryle and Ben??
Ben is just Ryle with a different name..
More of a whole fandom thing, less of a ship thing, but here's what I've got for one line to tell you what it is:
"real or not real?" "real."
"where did you get that magnet, Lily?"
"You'll get married, Jo. (...) And I'll watch."
"What if they say, 'get outta here, kid! you got no future!' I mean, I just don't think I could take that kind of rejection!"
"Of all the gin joints in the world, she walks into mine."
"The game is on."
"I wish I had a million dollars. Hot dog!"
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."
"A word which here means..."
"inconceivable!"
"Comparing my intellect to a broken cigarette lighter...that's an interesting mix of poetry and meaness."
"I don't want diamond sunbursts or marble halls. I just want you."
"Stay with me." "Always."
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli."
"Get me a glass of milk! Chocolate!"
"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
"Can you hear it? Can you hear the ticking or the clocks, Goncharov?"

Okay also, the woman never injures the other person, which implies women are weak and can't hurt someone whether or not they are trying, and it implies that it's okay to use violence so long as you're a woman and you care about them, which is kind of a mix of sexism and reverse sexism (by which I mean sexism against women vs sexism against men, but obviously everyone is harmed by any form of gender discrimination etc)
And the male version of these scenes is guys shaking the female (imo) because men can't hit women and be good guys, so media loopholes that by using shaking instead of hitting.
Oh and also Grey's anatomy. Multiple occurrences and people.

(This has been bouncing around in my head for a while but it's not like cohesive thoughts, so apologies)
There are the Molly Wesleys (Harry Potter), the Aunt Cass' (Big Hero 6, specifically after they get arrested), Katniss Everdeens (The Hunger Games, especially at the end of the first book), and I know there are more but that's just off the top off my head.
There are these scenes where the woman gets so upset, usually because she's worried about someone, and hits the person. It never injures them, but she hits them and saying something like "how could you do this!! I was so worried about you!!" And it's played as just a sign of their concern and it's no big deal. But like ??
I haven't really come to a conclusion on where I stand on this, but it feels wrong. Like, it's not violence because they actually love the person??
Also please reblog because I have like 5 followers and I want more opinions 👍👍
It also plays off of the hysterical woman stereotype and it normalizes violence as a form of love

why does tumblr love the crazy, morally conflicted characters? Like the morally grey, or the loves one person but does evil, or the slowly corrupted former mary sue
Also Donna and Rachel in Suits. They're both supposed to be like Independent Strong Women but like ?? They slap male characters who are just, okay with it ?? But to mention s2e16 Rachel slapped Mike 2 times, goes for a third and he stops her, and they're both like yeah he's been lying for as long as you've known but like let's get back together
