I've just gotten to sumeru's archon quest, and is it normal to want to murder the grand sage so much? Like I have yet to even reach the worst part according to everyone? Why do I want to punch him so much?
Ok, but like, what about how humans deliberately scare themselves? This has probably already been done but here me out:
We know that in large doses fear is actually quite harmful, but in small amounts it's thrilling! And I'm not talking about that adrenaline high you get from doing something stupid and dangerous for the "thrill". I'm talking horror movies and pranks.
I've got a friend that is ALWAYS down for a good old fashioned, demon possession horror movie. And they want to watch it with the lights off home alone even though they're going to be scared to tears.
She knows it's going to scare her, she knows she's going to be hyperventilating in raw terror, but she LOVES IT.
Imagine a couple humans inviting some of their alien crew mates to a movie night. At first the aliens are pretty excited to attend and participate, having been told movie nights are an important part of human culture and pack bonding. They are a little confused that most of the other humans refused to attend-something about who's turn it was to pick?
Everybody is settled in with snacks, the aliens are excited, the lights go off, and then "The Conjuring" begins.
One of the humans runs out of the room screaming, two of them are holding on to the closest being to them in obvious fear and distress, eyes locked into the projector, the aliens are all very concerned and confused. Movie nights were supposed to be fun, why are the fearless humans so afraid?!"
Then a couple weeks later when the humans are back to normal and no longer paranoid about the dark one of the aliens sees human Steve scrolling through the movie list during his free time about to select the same one that disrupted more than half of the human crew.
Thinking this human was unaware of the danger they attempt to intervene.
"Human Steve! Do not select that movie!"
Human Steve was so startled he accidentally threw his bowl of popcorn right at Xer's head. "What? Why? Is something wrong with the file?"
"Don't you remember what happen a few rotations ago? That 'movie' was the cause. It terrified the humans and the resulting overload of pheromones nearly put one of the Rjules' in a coma!"
"Oh! Sorry about that. I guesse we underestimated how sensitive they are to the scent of our fear. But you see, some humans like to scare ourselves on purpose. In small amounts it harmless. There's nothing like a good horror movie to get the blood pumping!"
"....."
"you want to watch this with me? It's The Conjuring 2. I've heard it's even scarier than the first!"
The aliens leave the room, officially done trying to understand humans.
Aliens reactions to humans irrational fears. Like they are so confuse because the thing is not threat to the human but the terrifying human is scared shitless of like a butterfly or something equally as dumb.
-Human and alien comrades on a break visiting earth
-Human is wearing a reddish shirt with black dots. Something random they grabbed out of their closet that morning
-Shortly after arrival, alien remarks that the human is matching the local fauna, and did they plan it that way? Does this creature have any significance?
-Human looks down to realize a ladybug has landed on their arm
-Human proceeds to f r e a k o u t and get that thing off me ick ick ick
-Alien did not expect this
-Is it dangerous oh no it’s bright red didn’t the human say bright colors are poisonous? Why else would the normally-calm and steady human get so upset?
-COMRADE HUMAN IS GOING TO DIE OH NO
-Ladybug flies off on its own because it’s a bug and doesn’t need this kinda of drama in its life
-COMRADE HUMAN WE MUST GET YOU TO MEDICAL SERVICES
-Human now has to figure out how to explain to the alien that the thing is harmless and actually useful in gardens but it’s just that beetles of all sorts are creepy because they just are
-This is embarrassing quick change the subject
-Oh hey alien look it happens to be autumn and we’ve got this fall celebration and there’s a haunted house my family always goes to, I bet you’d love it
-The alien is just ????? and remains that way for a large portion of the trip
Just figured out a really easy cosplay I can make

Just based on how Miles was visually based on a deer and when I first started seeing about ATSV I could see a lot of thematic similarities between the two of them. In my eyes, making him an Irish Elk, an ancestor to the common elk (I believe??? Last I checked) and a now extinct species.
"Miles is young. He's small and impressionable and excitable, keen to be a symbol of good and hope. To do all that he can for the world. He sees someone similar to him. He doesn't care that he's bigger, stronger, scarier. They both have the same hooves, antlers that stretch towards the sun, glistening in the light. They are the same.

Could you kill classic vampires by crushing them against the invisible barrier by entryways?
As in the whole ‘cant enter without permission’ thing. Does it break you house or break the vampire. I’ve not found answers.
