“Ready to go?” Regulus asks him as soon as he turns the corner to the empty corridor where Regulus told him to meet up. He is wearing pyjama bottoms and one of Remus’ sweaters. Though the days are starting to warm up, it is still quite cold at night. Remus thinks he looks adorable. 

“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Remus asks as he approaches Regulus. Neither of them is really the adventurous type, so when Regulus told him he had plans for them tonight to sneak out after curfew Remus was a bit surprised. Throughout the day his curiosity has been growing. He really wants to know.

“No,” answers Regulus smiling as he promptly starts walking out in front of him, gesturing for Remus to follow him, leading the way through the long hallways of the castle. Remus doesn’t know where they’re going or what Regulus wants to show him, only that he is really excited to do so. Only one way to find out.

As they climb the narrow stairs it is clear now where Regulus is leading him. They arrive at the top of the stairs of the astronomy tower, Regulus takes his hand and pulls him to the railing, so they can look outside. Then finally he speaks up about what they’re doing here, “Look,” he points at the night sky, at the Moon. “It’s us.”

First Remus doesn’t know what he should notice, it’s a half moon tonight, he knows this already. Then, paying attention to the stars, connecting them in his head, he sees it, the Leo constellation, the heart of the lion. Regulus and the Moon, looking like they’re only centimetres apart from their point of view on Earth.

He lets go of Regulus’ hand and puts his arm around him, hand resting on his hip, pulling him closer. He kisses the side of his boyfriend's face, who is still looking ahead at the sky. 

“It’s us,” he repeats.

“I mean…what is it about him?” Sirius asked, folding his arms over his chest and casting his gaze over to his brother. Regulus was quietly swirling a straw around in his drink, staring at the ice cubes almost in a trance. Sirius rolled his eyes. “Seriously, Moony.”

Remus watched him too—everyone else was dancing, laughing and talking together like always—and smiled ever so slightly. “He’s quiet,” he replied, “like me.”

Regulus felt his heart start to pound when he saw him; standing in the shop door running his fingers over some leather bound books on a rotating rack that had immediately caught his eye. Even somewhere as mesmerising as Saint Tropez couldn't sway Remus' love for books. As he approached, Remus seemed to turn at the perfect moment to spot him, and his lips parted. "I thought you were with Dorcas." He said. He looked surprised that someone had followed him here, that someone had noticed he actually wandered away. "They're getting ice cream." Regulus replied. "You don't want ice cream?" Regulus shook his head. "No. I like books too." "I know." It was a quick, sharp reply. A reply Remus clearly hadn't even thought to say, he just said it. Because he did know. Remus tightened his grip on the book against his chest and then seemed to come back to himself. "I'm not very interesting to be around when there's books nearby, just warning you." "How could you not be interesting?" Remus' lashes fluttered and Regulus wanted to keep saying things to make that happen again and again. If something could make Remus take a moment to compose himself upon hearing then it would be the only words to ever leave Regulus' lips. "I think I'm boring." Remus suddenly said and the moment was interrupted by two older ladies politely asking Remus to step aside so they could leave, and he looked at his feet. Regulus moved closer and felt the silver necklace beneath his shirt start to burn his skin. "I don't think you're boring at all." He said, his face morphing into something honest and desperate. Like he had been holding his words back for centuries. "I like being with you." The breeze circled them slowly, softly, causing the small bells above the shop to chime as they just looked at one another. They understood, then, that they were a lot more alike than they'd thought. Sure, Sirius, James and Peter were the best friends Remus could ask for. They made him happy, made him laugh the hardest he'd ever laughed in his life. Lily brought him out of his quiet shell and helped him grow his confidence. Mary and Marlene had been by his side every step of his transition and beyond. They were his friends, his family. But Regulus...Regulus saw him. He saw him. And for that fleeting moment outside the shop, Remus finally saw him too. And he smiled.

yes you should just go against the poll if its what feels right to you. The majority isnt always right and you have to write what YOU want and we can just be happy if you decide you want to share your art with us!

aww this is so sweet thank you! i didn't even realise what i would prefer writing when i made the poll, and i got such a good response for t4t moonwater that i started thinking of ideas about it and i just fell in love. as someone who is mostly t4t its something i want to explore. it's a really beautiful dynamic with the right person and i can see moonwater being a good example of that. plus, since regulus is richer, i can see him having surgery whilst remus is still saving up for it. binder rep NEEDS more attention, not everyone can afford surgery plus its scary, i feel like remus having a binder will not only mean something to me but a lot of other people too

I’m like stuck on moonwater now, (much thanks to you 🙏) and like they’re so perfect together. I personally almost always see reg as trans, and sometimes I do so w Remus too. AND THEN THEM IN A T4T RELATIONSHIP?!!?? Chefs kiss. I also view reg as autistic, and him being with introverted (maybe also autistic🫢 Remus) 🤌🤌🤌perfect

They’d fit perfect together. Cooped up reading books in the sofa, somehow always on the same page, being able to read eachother emotion so well that they may as well communicate spiritually.

I really do think moonwater is underrated as a ship, they’re very sweet together. I feel like they can communicate without talking in so many different ways and just enjoy the same things, and they’re not so opposite that they won’t see eye to eye either! I feel like out of the two, regulus is more outspoken but Remus is physically tougher — even if he’s a bean pole — and I LOVE t4t moonwater, they’re so trans mascs just figuring themselves out together ugh I love it

Remus laughed. Brightly, softly, in a way that he couldn't quite describe, like the universe captured every good thing and fit it into that one sound.

"You can't dance? Really?" He teased, leading Regulus out to the balcony. What was this song? Elvis Presley? "I thought you were an aristocrat, Reg."

He spun around. Once, then twice. It was wonderful. Magnificent.

Regulus rolled his eyes. "I never needed to," he said, and he was pressed against the other boy, moving in slow circles.

Remus smiled. "Dance with me, then."

Sirius: *coming in* AAAAH! WHAT THE HELL, MOONY?! My own brother?! I feel so betrayed! *faints dramatically*

Regulus: Oh, for fuck's sake.

Sirius: Hey, you watch your mouth. Babies aren't allowed to say that word.

James: Why, Reggie?! Why?! Why would you do this to us?! I thought you loved me!

Remus: Padfoot, Prongs, get a hold of yourselves. You guys are being ridiculous

Sirius: We're being ridiculous?! My brother and my boyfriend are in bed together!

Regulus: He was just reading to me.

James: Oh, the pain and devastation!

Sirius: What does he have that I don't, Moony?

Remus: Silence. What he has that you don't have is that he knows how to be quiet.

Sirius: Well, if that's what you wanted, you know exactly what to do.

James: And I can read to you, Reggie. I'm a much better story teller than that dyslexic moron.

Regulus: He's the top student in your year. Plus, his voice sounds nice. And he's warm to cuddle with. *cuddles up to Remus*

James: *gaasp* Moony, you thief

Remus: *hugs Regulus back* And Regulus is much cuter than you are, Sirius.

Sirius: *literal heartbreak then falls face first onto the floor*

Regulus: *smug* We're gonna get married as soon as I graduate.

Do you have any moonwater recs where they’re both professors?

In hogwarts probably nothing because I lack knowledge of 90% of the source material BUT in modern day? I’ll give it a go

- regulus teaches English literature, poetry is his favourite, and students are actually enthralled when he talks

- sure, he’s a hard grader and has a face like a slapped arse most of the time but he’s still a great professor

- the students respect him like crazy and they try their best in his courses

- he’s grumpy in the mornings, and prefers afternoon/night classes

- he gets the same coffee order every morning (iced caramel latte with coconut milk, or oat if they don’t have coconut) as well as a pan au chocolate and an apple

- he wears pretty nice clothes, nothing fancy, but he looks rich

- never not wearing black (maybe even some eyeliner)

- but the room next door holds the history professor and regulus just,,,,he can’t really think straight when he’s around

- Remus is forgetful, always coming into his lectures to ask for some pencils or a laptop cable, even for a stapler, and regulus can’t get enough of it

- professor lupin is tall, slender, fluffy brown hair that he wants to run his hands through and beautiful hazel eyes, and regulus cannot for the life of him ask this man out for a drink

- Remus has this lopsided smile that he does whenever he comes in and regulus glares back, but any smart book reading student will know it’s the perfect love story

- remus’ students swoon over him too but he never notices, not even when another teacher does, bevause he has eyes for one man and one man only

- Remus ends up being cornered in his lecture room one day by regulus, standing over his desk and glaring at him, before asking him to go for cocktails later

- Remus can’t stop smiling through his next class

- are their fantasies of sex on desks? Sneaking into closets between lectures? Leaving early to see each other? Of course, but they’re professionals and regulus won’t let Remus do that

- however, when they’re home, it’s fair game

l know fanfiction got me when there's two characters who share bed in a platonic way just because they're sleeping better like that. like??? you can't tell me 12y.o. sirius black didn't slip into james's bed every night after summer at least in first two weeks back in school.

and do you remember crimson rivers? that one ruined me with wolfstar&jegulus sleepover scene, I'll never recover after black brothers in this.

also, I love the idea about moonwater like that, remus just big enough to cover reggie completely with his arms. and he's so warm (especially when fullmoon is near), and regulus is just always cold (and calms remus a little in those days).

september 8 - reckless - @taylorswiftmicrofic (moonwater) - 235 words

Neither Remus nor Regulus were reckless individuals, not in the slightest.

So when they officially began dating, it wasn’t because of a dramatic confession of love or a big gesture. They didn’t crash into each other with all the force in the world, not the way Barty and Evan had.

Their relationship had become officially a thing in the library, of all places. Likely the most predictable place, the two spent all their time together inside of it.

They didn’t just study, their getting together came after weeks of laying on the floor of the library in between shelves. Remus would lean up against the shelf and beckon Regulus over.

Regulus laid down and rested his head in Remus’s lap and he would read aloud to them both. Remus would listen to Regulus’s melodic voice, running his fingers through Regulus’s curls until both dozed off.

Three months into this tradition, Remus looked down at Regulus in his lap and warm brown eyes met a mute gray. Regulus felt a soft smile spread across his face and he watched as Remus leaned to press his lips to Regulus’s.

In a moment Remus found Regulus entirely in his lap, legs straddling him and mouth on his. They kissed as if they would die without the other, as if they were each other’s only source of air. They didn’t leave the library for a long time after that.

Opinion on Platonic Moonwater???

They literally have my heart

absolutely love them! and here's my thoughts:

i think they would understand each other with just one look and would have entire conversations like that, without even saying a word, which would piss james and sirius so much. no one would read regulus' expressions like remus.

also think they have matching sassy humor and share a big love for gossip so they would complete each others comments bitching over someone and trade gossips like they were sharing serious information while having a smoke.

they would have long discussions about their favorite books full of "finally someone who understands" and "wow, we think so alike".

but opposite to prongsfoot they wouldn't be loud about it, it's not common for them to share lovely words or physical touch, that’s something they prefer to keep only to their boyfriends but they do have a really strong connection, they like to have deep conversations and are completely in love with each others mind.

last but not least, although they don't normally exchange compliments, regulus would, sometimes, blurt out things like "i don't know how my brother got a man like you" and "i have eyes, lupin, you're hot".

(sorry, i got really carried away)

september 23 - crossword - @taylorswiftmicrofic (moonwater) - 165 words

Remus hummed as he twisted the key into the lock, opening the door to his flat and stepping inside. He shed his coat and dropped his keys on the counter, the resounding clack echoing through the flat.

He spotted a figure fallen asleep curled up on the couch. Remus smiled and stepped forward, pressing a kiss to Regulus’s forehead, in between black curls. He gently removed the half-finished crossword puzzle from Regulus’s fingers and set it down on the coffee table.

Remus coaxed Regulus into his arms, breathing softly as he attempted to not wake the younger boy up. He stood, Regulus safely nestled in his arms. Remus pressed a chaste kiss to Regulus’s lips and felt Regulus shift slightly as he was laid in their bed, Remus covering him with blankets.

Regulus curled up and his eyes fluttered open when he heard Remus shut the door. He loved it when his boyfriend cared for him, so Regulus sometimes liked to pretend to be asleep.

I imagine Reg and Remus being secret bffs and plotting pranks for everyone omg

Regulus (whispering): You know, everyone’s looking at us weird again.

Remus (grinning): Yeah, I noticed. I think they’re still trying to figure out who’s transitioning into what.

Regulus: Sirius asked me yesterday if I was “feeling the full moon coming on.” I just nodded and walked away. Poor guy looked so lost.

Remus: laughing That’s nothing! Mary overheard part of a conversation and now she thinks I’m transitioning. She keeps offering to help with “the journey.”

Regulus (evil smirk): They don’t know if I’m turning into a werewolf or if you’re trans. It’s hilarious watching them try to piece it together.

Remus: We could have some fun with this.

Regulus: Oh, definitely. Next time they ask, I’ll just start talking about "embracing my true self" and see where that leads.

Remus: laughing And I’ll drop hints about "feeling wild" every time the moon's full. Let’s really keep them guessing.

Regulus: You know, with the right amount of mystery, we could confuse them for years.

Remus: I say we go for it. Keep them wondering which one of us is... transitioning. Or both.
