Just a quick drawing of how I think regulus would look if he survived the cave!

Remus: Sirius is my friend and if he loves me, it’s the same way he would love a sibling.

Regulus: Sirius is my brother and if he looked at me the way he looks at you, I would have to see a therapist.

“Annoying, isn’t it?” Regulus said, pulling Remus out of his head. “Loving and hating Sirius Black at the same time.”

Remus face hardened, the anger he has been trying to hold back grew tenfold. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Regulus rolled his eyes. “The whole castle knows you and your Marauders had a bit of falling out and its easy to see that at the center of it all was my dearest brother.”

Remus gripped the book he was pretending to read and stared at the words not understanding it at all. Maybe if he ignores Regulus he’ll go away.

“It’s the ultimate Black Experience,” Regulus continued, not caring that Remus was willing him away with his mind. “Hurting the people we love the most.”

“He doesn’t love me.” Remus argued, not being able to stop the words from escaping. “If he loves me, he wouldn’t hurt me like this.”

“He hurt you because he loves you.” Regulus said, softly. Sitting across from Remus, the younger black look composed, elegant, like the heir he was. Remus could see the resemblance he and Sirius have. Bloody Blacks and their pretty genes.

“That’s bullshit.” Remus snapped.

“It is but its Walburga that taught us that so you can see how twisted our view of love is.” Regulus responded.

“We taught him how to love better, James and his family showed him!” Remus said. He knows how hard it was for Sirius to love and to accept it and it took all of them for him to understand that so why is destroying them?

Regulus sighed. “You can spend the rest of your life teaching him how to love properly but it would be hard to unlearn the very thing you grew up with.”

“That doesn’t excuse what he did.” Remus declared.

Regulus shook his head. “No, it doesn’t.”

“So what the fuck are you here for then? Trying to get me to join your ‘I hate Sirius Black’ club?” Remus mocked.

Regulus snorted, it look so foreign and so undignified that he tried to hide it. “I’m too busy to make a club dedicated to Sirius, no, I’m not here for that.”

“Then what are you here for?”

“If there’s anyone who understands what its like to love and hate Sirius Black it would be me. I know what its like to want to push him out of your life but also want to dig your nails into his skin so he can never leave.” Regulus said, calm and collected. The perfect heir to the noble house of Black.

Oh.

Remus stared at Regulus and finally he saw it. A 16 year old boy who misses his big brother, a little boy who’s responsibilities got bigger because his brother left. A lonely boy who wanted to hold onto someone who left without saying goodbye.

Regulus stood up, giving Remus one last look and then said, “It’s up to you if your anger means more to you than your love for him. Make him work for your forgiveness but don’t let him go. I promise you, you’ll miss him so much you’ll forget why you had to let him go.”

Remus later on gave Sirius the chance to talk because he knows, he loves Sirius Black more than anything and he’s not ready to let him go.

Remus loves horror movies and he tried watching them with Sirius, but Sirius is a scaredy little bitch and always ends up ruining the movie, so now Remus has movie nights with Regulus where they just watch the most unhinged, terrifying shit. Sometimes, Sirius or James will attempt to sit with them and just watch what they're watching, but they always end up living the room absolutely horrified ("Bloody hell James our boyfriends are psychopaths")

Its spirt week at school and tomorrow is dress up as a character day and me and my friend have decided to do platonic moonwater!!! im so excited

Remus: We should own a library together.

Sirius: Or are we apart of the library?

The difference between the Black brothers is that Sirius would scream family line at the top of his lungs, while Regulus would just lay on the floor and sob.

James and Remus are concerned for both of them regardless

oooo, okay. i do like them both, a lot, so i dont actually know that i could pick my favourite ahahaha

i love prongsfoot because james and sirius truly are each other's second half. james has always been there for sirius when hes had issues with his family, and sirius has always been right there supporting james with his attempts at wooing whoever you ship him with. one of them is thinking of a prank and the other is already right there with them figuring out how to make it happen. any time they have to keep a secret from the other, it never lasts more than ten minutes. everyone has learned that if you tell one of them not to tell anyone, that means they wont tell a soul other than their other half. i think sirius is slightly more unhinged than james, if only because of the family he grew up with, but james is always there to reign him in and remind him of his morals. but at the same time, sirius is there to push james beyond what he felt he could do. together they definitely become a bit more morally grey, especially when it comes to defending the other. they definitely competed about who could transform into their animagus first (sirius won, and in james' dramatic distress over his loss, he then transformed seconds later). sirius also always helped james figure out quidditch plays when he became captain, even though sirius wasnt on the team anymore. once, though they did have a major fallout. no one knew what it was about, but they didnt talk for a whole three hours. their reunion was very teary and apologetic though.

with moonwater, theyre much quieter about their close friendship, but that doesnt make it any less strong. if one of them doesnt like you, the other wont either, whether you wronged them directly or not. they definitely have bitching sessions together and claim its 'book club' (but they also do actually have a book club). also, since in this scenario, both prongsfoot and moonwater are platonic, they also definitely swoon over james and sirius together. regulus is a little sick of hearing how sexy his brother is though, but he and remus also definitely fake dated at some point, if not actually dated (though decided to stay friends instead). regulus used to wear silver rings, but silently changed to a different metal once he realised remus was a werewolf. they didnt talk about it, though.

l know fanfiction got me when there's two characters who share bed in a platonic way just because they're sleeping better like that. like??? you can't tell me 12y.o. sirius black didn't slip into james's bed every night after summer at least in first two weeks back in school.

and do you remember crimson rivers? that one ruined me with wolfstar&jegulus sleepover scene, I'll never recover after black brothers in this.

also, I love the idea about moonwater like that, remus just big enough to cover reggie completely with his arms. and he's so warm (especially when fullmoon is near), and regulus is just always cold (and calms remus a little in those days).

Opinion on Platonic Moonwater???

They literally have my heart

absolutely love them! and here's my thoughts:

i think they would understand each other with just one look and would have entire conversations like that, without even saying a word, which would piss james and sirius so much. no one would read regulus' expressions like remus.

also think they have matching sassy humor and share a big love for gossip so they would complete each others comments bitching over someone and trade gossips like they were sharing serious information while having a smoke.

they would have long discussions about their favorite books full of "finally someone who understands" and "wow, we think so alike".

but opposite to prongsfoot they wouldn't be loud about it, it's not common for them to share lovely words or physical touch, that’s something they prefer to keep only to their boyfriends but they do have a really strong connection, they like to have deep conversations and are completely in love with each others mind.

last but not least, although they don't normally exchange compliments, regulus would, sometimes, blurt out things like "i don't know how my brother got a man like you" and "i have eyes, lupin, you're hot".

a/n: i like to think regulus and remus would get on. this is an exploration of how that might look! i, unfortunately, do not know much bsl (although i should probably get on it, it would be useful). so if you have experience signing, i welcome any and all comments you might have on my presentation of it here!

Remus finger spells the name, long, scarred fingers settling into each letter with careful and deliberate intention. He makes a face as he does so, and then smiles. Regulus watches his eyes crease up and notes his crooked teeth and decides he quite likes this smile. He’s smiling because he means it.

Long name! I had an accident, when I was younger. It damaged part of my ear. I wear hearing aids because of it, and I also learnt to sign. I don’t get to use it very much though. Only with my mum.

Wow. I had no idea.

Sirius told me you about you. I was pleased when he said you used BSL. Needed another conversation partner - was worried I was getting a bit rusty.

This, to Regulus, is a ludicrous idea. Watching Remus, the way he moves, the fluidity of his gestures and the expressions he makes alongside them - Regulus would have thought communicating like this came about as naturally as breathing. It’s like he walked out of the womb with all this language, all this life to him. It’s sort of magnetic, in a quiet, subtle type of way.

Did my brother tell you about why I sign?

A little. I don’t think he did a very good job explaining it, but he tried.

Right. Sometimes, the words just won’t form in my mouth. They get stuck. I can’t explain it very well myself. Speaking is too much a lot of the time. And then I met this kid, called Evan, and he had a sister, called Pandora, and she taught me how to sign. I found my voice like that.

Remus grins at him a second time, eyes alight with mischief.

When you were with Sirius. I don’t know what he said, but it must have been stupid. You swore at him when he turned his back. Motherfucker!

He imitates Regulus’ expression, rolling his eyes and gritting his teeth in annoyance as he signs the insult. Then, the act dissolves, and he breaks back into that well-worn smile of his, evidently very much amused. Regulus shrugs matter-of-factly.

It was the only good description I could think of.

Regulus (whispering): You know, everyone’s looking at us weird again.

Remus (grinning): Yeah, I noticed. I think they’re still trying to figure out who’s transitioning into what.

Regulus: Sirius asked me yesterday if I was “feeling the full moon coming on.” I just nodded and walked away. Poor guy looked so lost.

Remus: laughing That’s nothing! Mary overheard part of a conversation and now she thinks I’m transitioning. She keeps offering to help with “the journey.”

Regulus (evil smirk): They don’t know if I’m turning into a werewolf or if you’re trans. It’s hilarious watching them try to piece it together.

Remus: We could have some fun with this.

Regulus: Oh, definitely. Next time they ask, I’ll just start talking about "embracing my true self" and see where that leads.

Remus: laughing And I’ll drop hints about "feeling wild" every time the moon's full. Let’s really keep them guessing.

Regulus: You know, with the right amount of mystery, we could confuse them for years.

Remus: I say we go for it. Keep them wondering which one of us is... transitioning. Or both.
