Darkhold: Spider-Man by Alex Paknadel (writer), Dio Neves (artist), Jim Charalampidis (colorist), and VC’s Clayton Cowles (letterer)
Reed: “I would have done anything to keep them alive, Peter. Anything. Sometimes I wonder if they were all that was holding me together.”
We’ve almost read to the end of the Darkhold, with just one last issue left in this event: Darkhold Omega. As far as these character one-shots have gone, the Spider-Man issue is definitely one of the better ones. We’re taken to a world where one day, for no reason at all, everything began to unravel - buildings, vehicles, even people. And the only thing that can bind things temporarily back together is Spider-Man’s webbing. Most of the heroes are gone or have lost themselves in a mad cycle, leaving Mister Fantastic and Peter to try to put the city back together.
To me, this story seems to really be dealing with the concept of grief and how we respond to it. We can be like Uncle Ben and seek out places of stillness, where the quiet allows us to reflect and remember. We can be like Aunt May and throw ourselves into tasks, working as hard as we can in order to avoid remembering. Peter takes the Aunt May approach, sleeping barely 3 hours each night and repeating a ghastly daily fantasy where Gwen, his unraveling wife, thinks that it is always their anniversary. Every day, he does the same routine with her, living with a ghost in an endless Groundhog’s Day style loop. Richards takes a similar approach, throwing himself so much into his work that he abandons human form, becoming just a thinking puddle of bones and organs on the floor. In his grief, Reed has lost his humanity. This comic shows Peter similarly lose his, as he collapses under the immense weight and pressure of being responsible for every person in NYC every moment of every day - the horrific extreme of what it is to be Spider-Man, to have everyone depend on you, to live in a town of ghosts.
It’s a chilling, somber read - with some brief bits of levity brought on by Peter’s quips, but they still have a tiredness to them, indicating the mental state of our protagonist. The artwork has an almost surreal quality to it, like we’re glimpsing at a dream or a reality that is just slightly out of focus.
The only real improvement I’d make to this is I would have liked for the unraveling to be a logical progression from Peter’s story, similarly to how both Iron Man and Wasp’s tales had a clear point where you can go “oh, this is where the path diverts.” But overall, it’s a quietly horrific story, which is definitely the vibe the creative team had in mind for this.
Verdict: Seven out of ten webs
The original Fantastic Four movies were my introduction to the Marvel universe so my Mr.Fantastic will always be Ioan Gruffudd

nothing against Pedro Pascal, I love him, but for me, Ioan Gruffudd will always be the iconic, most perfect Reed Richards and no one else can play him like Ioan does.
that being said, it would be super great to see Ioan as Reed again where he teamed up with Pedro’s Reed and John Krasinski’s Reed (so we had 3 Reed Richards variants from different timelines).
also credit to @doseofthreecuties , thank you for putting these photos together. our Reed Richards ♡
Alright so @incorrectsmashbrosquotes wrote a pitch for Dr. Doom and the Fantastic Four in the MCU, and I got inspired to write this, so here we go.
Of all the characters coming to the MCU, the one's that they have to, and I mean HAVE to get right, are the Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom.

Now a lot of people would say "why, they're just some superhero team with a bunch of bad movies and Dr. Doom's cool, but just another bad guy. Why is it vital the MCU get them right?"
Simply put, it's because the Fantastic Four are easily some of the most, if not THE most important characters in Marvel history. Both in the real world and even a bit in the comic continuity itself, there is no marvel universe without the Fantastic Four.
This video is pretty long but if you get the chance, watch it, because it explains just how vital the Fantastic Four actually are to the world of comics.
But short and to the point, 1. They're explorers of all things, meaning that they know a lot obout several species, meaning that anytime an alien invasion comes down it's usually Mr. Fantastic that's like "here's their weakness, hit 'em in the balls" or whatever.
2. The Fantastic Four have connections to the entire Marvel universe, both emotionally with knowing and being friends with almost EVERY superhero (especially these guys)

but also literally since Sue and Reed's son, Franklin Richards, is literally the guardian of the guardian of the Marvel Universe.
No I'm not kidding.
And 3. Creating the Fantastic Four is what lead Stan Lee and Jack Kirby to make a whole BUNCH of Marvel characters. So without what many people call "the lamest superhero team" you wouldn't have your Spider-Man, your Iron Man, you’re Daredevil, you're Hulk, all that.
And as for Dr. Doom, that motherfucker is easily one of the greatest comic book villians of all time. He's almost ALWAYS the big bad in a marvel crossover. Even more so then Thanos, or Galactus. This bitch literally just haxed his way into 1. Stealing the beyonder's power (and beyonder is, like, super powerful)

2. Offed Thanos, the first big bad of the MCU, like snapping a twig (to be fair he was OP as shit at the time)

And 3. LITERALLY JUST FORCED HIMSELF TO STAY ALIVE FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS, JUST TO FUCK OVER THE GUY WHO SENT HIM BACK IN TIME IN THE FIRST PLACE
If THAT dosen't scream "next big MCU villian" I dunno what does, man.
So yeah, Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom are pretty damn important and need to be done right.
Happy birthday Julian McMahon 🎂🎉🎈

Johnny outside: Come back here you little shit! *fireball sounds*
Peter: come here and get me idiot! *sound of webs being released*
I think it's really cute that the irondad fandom is getting all excited about rdj's return and that they're dying to see the anguish, etc., etc.,
but people! this will not happen. the Spider-Man issue is a mess (as always) he probably won't appear in the F4 movie and if he does it will be a very small scene, if Doctor Doom becomes the main villain I don't think there will be as much space for the Spider is him, because Doctor Doom is still the villain of F4 and not of Spider (and because Marvel hates irondad), and this idea is just bad, so it's better not to fill yourself with expectations
But if there's one thing I hope there is, it's A LOT of homoeroticism between Doctor Doom and Mr. Fantastic

My submission to Project Rooftop's Fantastic Four: Fashion Forward (Kinda went crazy and did a bit more redesigning then I should have,..oh well).
The major changes are that my H.Torch is composed of plasma, and Thing is made of crystalline. I've also given Invisible woman a buzzed head, and Mr. Fantastic has a 10th Doctor vibe.
For the outfits themselves I wanted to stick with a form fitting bodysuit (with the exception of the Thing)that had an overall cohesive aesthetic but were still unique to each member.
