This NEVER EVER gets old. Anytime I go for a walk on the beach and I see a group of people huddled at the dunes, I know what’s about to happen. Oftentimes after a sea turtle hatchling boil happens. There’s a straggler or two left in the hole that can’t get out. When the local sea turtle organization goes to the nest to take inventory, they help the little hatchling out and we get to cheer it on as it goes out to sea!

Leopard Shark,Triakis Semifasciata.

Leopard Shark, Triakis semifasciata.

One of the most popular animals at MSI is the leopard shark. We keep 8 or 9 baby leopard sharks in our aquarium at a time. We catch the sharks when we take our 90 foot research vessel out on the San Francisco Bay. The leopard shark is a beautiful animal covered with dark saddles and splotches. The top of the animal varies in color from silver to a bronzed gray. Leopard sharks are most commonly found in shallow bays and estuaries but sometimes live in the kelp forest, usually staying near the bottom.

Leopard sharks love to eat benthic invertebrates like mussels, clams, crabs, and worms. Male leopard sharks can grow to be 5 to 6 feet long while the females can grow to be 6 to 7 feet long!  These sharks are very gentle creatures and both kids and adults love getting the chance to touch the sharks when they come to visit MSI!

Daily Reflection: 29 Nov. 2023

Daily Reflection: 29 Nov. 2023

What I did today:

♡ Physical/Social Health

- Went with my mom to pick up my little brother.

- Went to the beach after and then also went to a restaurant to eat lunch.

♡ Mental Health

- Read a few chapters of "how to make friends and influence people".

♡ Emotional Health

- Checked-in on Moodee.

♡ Intellectual Health

- Did two units on HeyJapan.

♡ Self Love

- Did AM skincare and brushed my teeth.

- Did PM skincare (just wet my face and toner, because I was so tired) and brushed my teeth.

- Spent a lot of time outside and in the sun.

♡ Personal Projects

- Worked on 2 of my writing projects.

- I finished one section of one of the writing projects. (didn't really work a lot on the other one).

Daily Reflection: 29 Nov. 2023

Reflection:

I doesn't really feel like I did a lot, but I think that's because I spent majority of the day at the beach (4,5 hours).

But I am going to go to bed earlier than what I usually do because I'm so tired and I also have a massive headache, and also because I have to wake up earlier tomorrow as I am going to school and the power is going to be out.

So the only thing I will be posting tomorrow is my end year exam results, and also how I felt about it and blah blah blah.

So I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/night.

Til next time!
