Gamophobia, a term derived from the Greek words "gamos" (meaning marriage) and "phobos" (meaning fear), encapsulates the psychological condition characterized by an overwhelming and often irrational fear of entering into committed relationships or marriage.

Individuals afflicted by gamophobia may experience heightened levels of anxiety, stress, or even panic when confronted with the prospect of establishing enduring emotional bonds or making long-term romantic commitments.

This fear extends beyond the legal institution of marriage, encompassing a broader range of committed relationships that involve emotional intimacy and mutual dedication.

The origins of gamophobia can be diverse, arising from past traumas, a fear of losing personal independence, apprehensions about vulnerability, or negative experiences in previous romantic entanglements.

Does Rafal have Thalassoharpaxophobia? (Google it...)

Note:

This will take a dark turn. Rafal did not appreciate your question.

[They respond in unison:]

Rhian: Yes. / Rafal: No.

Rafal: [He glares at Rhian.] I don't fear pirates—they just don't sit right with me. Traitors, the whole lot of them!

Rhian: It's a phobia. Own up to it.

Rafal: Do you see me quaking in fear around them? No, I do not. There. That is your answer: I don't have a phobia.

Rhian: Just because you don't expose your fear doesn't mean you don't feel it.

Rafal: I don't have feelings.

Rhian: Not true. It seems you can feel rage perfectly well. And you're a sore loser.

Rafal: Again, you're wrong. I display emotions to my advantage. That doesn't mean they're real.

Rhian: Fair enough. But I still think you have a phobia, as brilliant a liar that you are.

Rafal: [He finally snaps.] It's not a phobia, Rhian!

Rhian: Whatever you say... and yet—how do you explain why you shoo every single pirate away?

Rafal: It's not because of me. It's-it's because of you! Just how do you expect me—us—to do our work when those foul pests are raising hell on School grounds? They're bad influences.

Rhian: And you're not one?

Rafal: I thought this was about them, not me.

Rhian: [stares at his brother in askance]

Rafal: Fine. I'll admit I'm a bad influence, but it's my job to be one. Think of the students. Besides, you're immune to me by this point, so it doesn't matter either way. Pirates are another story. They do affect you.

Rhian: So now you say you care about the students? What next? Another brazen, bald-faced lie?

Rafal: I'm done with this conversation. For the record, I do not have a phobia.

Rhian: No! Come back! It just became interesting!

[Rafal stalks off.]

[Rhian waits for him to be out of hearing range.]

Rhian: He definitely has a phobia.

Rafal: [shouting] You don't get the last word! I do.

Rhian: [shrugs] Petty. He always leaves me. If only he'd associate with pirates. He has a lot in common with them.

[Rafal halts in his tracks and returns suddenly.]

Rafal: If you’re insinuating I was a deserter, I told you that I wouldn't do it again. Hell, I wouldn't have left if I had known all that would come to pass under your authority.

Rhian: Empty words. Hot air. Guff. What more can you expect from Evil incarnate?

Rafal: Rhian. Stop talking to strangers with their invasive questions. We're done here.

Rhian: Farewell 'til next time, my fair, devoted disciples!

Rafal: [sighs heavily. In a strained voice:] Listen here, Rhian. First, they don't like you. Second, they're glutting you with falsehoods, and third, there won't be a next time. I'm washing my hands of this rabblement, pirates included, and you ought to too.

Rhian: Pay him no mind. All, including pirates, are welcome. [He winks.]

Rafal: I will carve out your tongue if you keep jabbering away like a fool.

Rhian: [outraged, as if he were victimized] See what I have to live with?

Rafal: You're crying out into a cold and unsympathetic void. Whatever passive “audience” you believe we have is as hard and unfeeling as the Storian. They love to watch our pain and misery. They laugh and mercilessly mock us as the Storian does. I wish death upon them all. No, worse.

Rhian: Even if that’s true, mind your manners! [then, in a whisper] You know I’ll just die if whoever is out there doesn’t come away with a good impression.

Rafal: Again, I don’t see why you care about those faceless tormentors of ours. [with a stern look:] To anyone reading: we are not your manikins or playthings. Neither Rhian nor I. You are subordinate to me, and inferiors such as yourselves don’t dictate what we do.

Rhian: The question was harmless, Rafal.

Rafal: But was it victimless? Look at us.

Rhian: What about us?

Rafal: [accusatory] They want to see us fight. They're setting us against each other.

Rhian: My sincerest apologies to everyone. He’s not usually like this, as far as tact and diplomacy extend. He, er… woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Rafal: [abrasively] You still can’t see it, can you? Stop talking and they might just leave us alone.

Rhian: They’re probably gone by now, Rafal. You’ve probably driven them off with that cranky disposition.

Rafal: Doubtful. I know they’re out there. And I’ll be waiting.

Rhian: Enough. I—

Rafal: I think that one day, one day, they’ll surface, and on that day...

Rhian: I’d advise you to run for your lives if you care an ounce for your self-preservation.

Rafal: They'll turn up. They’re sadists and masochists. Why do you think they read our tales?

My answer to this ask would be no.

It's probably just an impassioned hatred of pirates, an aversion. A full-blown phobia just seems extreme and a little unlikely. I don't think Rafal would generalize and discriminate against all pirates as far as fear goes, but, then again, in terms of simple hatred and his low opinion of them as a collective, I think he would hate them indiscriminately. He'd reject them at every turn, from Hook's betrayal and onwards. But, I could understand viewing Rafal as traumatized in some way through Hook, considering Hook's role in their tale.

**Thanatomechanophobia** is a specific phobia characterized by an intense fear of machinery that has the potential to cause severe injury or death. Individuals with this phobia experience extreme anxiety or panic when exposed to or even thinking about dangerous mechanical systems, such as elevators, escalators, automatic doors, heavy factory machines, or large construction equipment. Unlike general mechanophobia, which is a fear of all machines, thanatomechanophobia is focused on the perceived lethality and unpredictability of machinery capable of causing fatal accidents.

Key Features:

- **Trigger Objects**: Elevators, escalators, industrial machinery, automatic doors, large construction equipment (e.g., cranes, bulldozers), and other machinery that can inflict physical harm or have the potential to kill.

- **Symptoms**: Rapid heartbeat, dizziness, sweating, shortness of breath, nausea, or an overwhelming urge to escape when near or imagining these machines.

- **Avoidance Behavior**: Individuals may go out of their way to avoid places or situations where such machinery is present, such as taking stairs instead of elevators, avoiding factories or construction sites, or refusing to use automated systems.

- **Root Causes**: The fear may stem from personal trauma (e.g., witnessing or hearing about a fatal machinery-related accident), a heightened sense of vulnerability, or an overactive imagination visualizing worst-case scenarios.

- **Cognitive Patterns**: Thoughts often revolve around the machinery malfunctioning, becoming uncontrollable, or acting unpredictably in ways that result in injury or death.

- **Emotional Impact**: It can lead to a significant disruption in daily life, particularly for those who work in environments with such machinery or must frequently use them.

Treatment:

Thanatomechanophobia, like other specific phobias, can be treated using methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, or anxiety management techniques. Understanding and confronting the irrational aspects of the fear is key to reducing its impact.

This phobia is distinct in its focus on the potential for fatal accidents, making it more specific and intense compared to general fears of technology or automation.

Sorry for the camera lighting I'm over my dads house. Anyways here's another phobia called Thalassoharpoxophobia (fear of pirates). In his level there are crashed and sunken ships everywhere on a isolated island full of rapscallion enemies. When he is still a phobia he is a pretty greedy bastard (who wants his host child to forever remain his loot). When he reforms he takes the name Davy Jones (who is still a greedy bastard who wants loot). In dreamscape he owns a trade shop were you can trade special items he ask for for special items that will help you in new phobia levels. Also his reformed personality is just like Jack Sparrow ,so there's a bonus. ----------------------- I don't own night terror rebornica does so there I however own Thalassoharpoxophobia so don't steal.

Most people got annoyed with me as I freaked out seeing a spider in my class today. The spider was small, I admit, but it was jumping like crazy in a lightning speed. And trust me when I say, it scared me to death.

I'm not joking when I say I'm scared of spiders. Spiders are my worst nightmares.

I was scared of it since I was a child. My mother also used to get annoyed at me. Whenever I complained about a spider in our bathroom, she would force me to go in, instead of removing it. I feared it so much, that I had scary nightmares of it for a long time. I even cried myself to sleep some nights. I would pray to God to remove all kinds of spiders around me.

I got older. But my fear didn't go. Recently I went to stay with one of my aunts from my father's side of the family. There were huge spiders on their walls of the room I was staying in. And guess what? I stayed up most of the night and watched them move along the walls. Since I was very tired, eventually I fell asleep. But the moment I woke up next day, I searched for the location of those little creatures immediately.

An information to you, who get annoyed by any people freaking out at a thing which you may find pretty silly: People don't freak out to get attention.

I swear, I was embarrassed to death when I came to my sense after those brief moments of panic. I could hear my heart beating upto my throat. As an overthinker, I would probably relive those moments the whole day and probably the whole week. It's not like I can make all the choices for my brain.

As someone with phobias (like thalassophobia, not homophobia) the way able-minded people treat phobias is abhorrent.

Phobias should be regarded as actual disorders and disabilities, and not just "they don't like this" or "they are just so scared of these! It's so funny!" or "overcome your fears" or "just get over it" or "it's just this!"

Like Ik... it's irrational... that's what defines a phobia or a traumatic experience can be the cause.

People hear me say "I have a phobia of needles/Trypanophobia." And think it's appropriate to say stuff like, "Oh, but it doesn't hurt." or "You'll get used to it."

I'm almost 20 and have been doing blood test my whole life. I'm already "used to it." And, it does really hurt. I am traumatized, not uninformed or inexperienced.

And, when my mom, thank god, defends me, they're all like, "Oh... you'll get over your fears one day."

Like, I need a therapist for that, and even then, I get to decide how to handle my own conditions. I don't want exposure therapy. I want support and comfort. I want my dad to stop calling me dramatic and a crybaby. I want BOTH of my parents to defend me when people try to put down my disabilities.

Also, don't trigger people's phobias on purpose. That's extremely ableist, whether the person has trauma or not. Triggering it can Cause trauma and is extremely distressing. I know it's not rational. You don't have to remind me.

Can we normalize people having abnormal fears?

When people say they are afraid of heights or spiders everyone respects that. But suddenly when the fear isn’t mainstream it’s just plain odd.

I have emetophobia (extreme fear of vomit/throwing up) and any time I try and open up about it I’m ridiculed. I’ve had “friends” purposely send me videos of people throwing up without telling me, so I am blindsided and triggered. When I have tried to talk about missing sleep from panic attacks I was laughed at. I try and protest and say that I would never exploit their fears like that, and yet it’s like it means nothing.

When someone says they are afraid of something, respect the fuck out of that. NEVER try and trigger someone for fun, just because it’s not something you are afraid of.

Let’s normalize people having abnormal fears

Is Sin The Cause Of Mental Illness?

Is Sin the Cause of Mental Illness?

By Author & Psychologist Eli Kittim

——-

Christian Psychotherapy

I should frame the discussion by saying at the outset that my definition of the Christian Method of Psychotherapy is not based on organized religion or on any particular denomination. The Christian psychological approach that I am introducing is not related to any religious doctrines, dogmas, or practices. Rather, it is based on my personal understanding of the teachings of the Bible in conjunction with modern psychology and existential experience! As a trained psychologist, I see an intimate connection between sin and neurosis!

——-

What is sin, anyway?

In Biblical terms, “sin” is an action that transgresses the divine moral law and is thought to be highly reprehensible, bringing about guilt and/or shame upon the individual who commits it through the conscience (i.e. superego).

In humanistic terms, that is precisely what a clinical “neurosis” consists of, namely, conscious or unconscious feelings of guilt and/or shame that are displayed in one’s personality as symbolic symptoms, such as anxieties, phobias, compulsions, and the like. Although the term “neurosis” has been dropped since 1980 by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM III), it is nevertheless prevalent in the clinical psychotherapeutic literature (e.g. it is still used in the ICD-10 Chapter V F40–48).

The point is, there seems to be a clinical connection between neurosis and sin. Some notable psychoanalysts, such as Moshe HaLevi Spero, have published academic works about this connection (see his article “Sin as Neurosis” in the “Journal of Religion and Health” Vol. 17, No. 4 [Oct. 1978], pp. 274-287).

——-

What is the Difference Between Christian and Clinical Psychotherapy?

Whereas modern psychotherapy’s goal is to make you feel less guilty about your neurosis, Biblical Christianity tries to eradicate the source of your guilt through *forgiveness*. These are two radically different approaches. One is largely devoid of any ethical considerations and basically encourages you to continue practicing your sins (as long as you’re not hurting yourself or others), while trying to persuade you not to feel so damn guilty about them. After all, this is the 21st century. People are free to do as they wish. A psychoanalyst once said to a patient——who suddenly revealed a secret perversion during a psychodynamic therapy session——“welcome to the club.”

The other approach acknowledges that something is morally wrong and says, no matter what you do, the guilt and shame will not go away unless you’re *forgiven*. Modern psychotherapy does not offer a “cure,” only a better coping mechanism based on a better understanding of your symptoms. In other words, it offers a bandaid, at best. Biblical Christianity, on the other hand, offers a “cure” based on an *inner transformation* of the mind. It may entail more risks and a far deeper understanding, but it almost always guarantees a personality change. All you have to do is to reinvent yourself. You have to become a new creature: a new creation. One day you’re this person; the next day you’re a completely different person. That’s exactly what happened to Paul in the New Testament. One day he was persecuting Christians. The next he loved and protected them. The Second letter to the Corinthians 5.17 (NIV) reads:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new

creation has come: The old has gone, the

new is here!

The Christian process of transformation is not unlike the Buddhist or the Hindu. In fact, it is almost identical to them in the sense of self-realization and self-transcendence, the only difference is that at the center of undifferentiated consciousness is the divine Christ. The Johannine Jesus makes it absolutely clear that you cannot even see the kingdom of God unless you are born again (3.3):

Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one

can see the kingdom of God unless they are

born again.’

That’s precisely why the Epistle to the Ephesians 4.22-24 (NRSV) instructs us to put away the “old self” and to put on a new identity, namely, “the new self,” which is made in the image of God:

You were taught to put away your former

way of life, your old self, corrupt and

deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in

the spirit of your minds, and to clothe

yourselves with the new self, created

according to the likeness of God in true

righteousness and holiness.

So, from this perspective, you don’t need to see a psychiatrist once a week. What you need is a personality change. In other words, you don’t need a slap on the wrist; you need forgiveness!

——-

Christian Psychotherapy Not Only Cures but Also Offers Salvation

Besides this psychotherapeutic advantage that the Bible offers, in which deep satisfaction and contentment can be attained, it also furnishes some insights into unconscious motivation and human behavior. For example, it goes beyond the personal unconscious and informs us about the influences of the so-called “collective unconscious” on our psyche, as the work of Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, has shown.

Of course, the weltanschauung of transcendental philosophy is significant here because, in the Biblical context, transcendence refers to the metaphysical aspects of nature, which are beyond all physical laws. These parapsychological phenomena can be exhibited in various “religious experiences” of the type that William James studied, which are typically manifested in contemplation, prayer, séance, extrasensory perception, clairvoyance, meditation, or paranormal “visions” and existential experiences. In short, there seems to be a link between physical and metaphysical phenomena that are played out in the psychological sphere of the individual and in the realm of the mind.

To this end, the Bible has a lot to say on the topic of how we diagnose and therefore treat certain ailments. For example, should we treat all mental health issues as matters that pertain to sin or should we consult modern psychology? According to the Bible, if anxieties, fears, depressions, and phobias are the roots of mental disturbances, then *love* necessarily cures them. First John 4.18 (NIV) says:

There is no fear in love. But perfect love

drives out fear, because fear has to do with

punishment. The one who fears is not made

perfect in love.

——-

Conclusion

The panacea for all nonbiological mental disorders is *love.* The Beatles were spot-on: “All You Need Is Love.” Second Timothy 1.7 (KJV) reads:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

but of power, and of love, and of a sound

mind.

Thus, from a psychotherapeutic perspective, it is precisely this *love* and *forgiveness* that equips a person to break the chains of neurosis, addiction, and fear by restoring their mind back to health!

I hope this guy knows about the fanfics. *snort*

The fact that Hollywood is so resistent to LGBTQ characrers in their media frankly speaks for the deep phobia the people in power there have and cultivate to this day. Lets be honest they jump and take every trend/hype that comes up and frottage with it until there is no more money to rub out of it - but representing sexual orentation that doesnt fit in a phobic society dominated by partriarchy (in the sense of man strong, man manly, no feels) that in the same breath wont even talk to most of their kids what condoms are for is really sad. To be this resistant to change in a society that goes through new technologies every 5 years is embaressing. Their favourite excuse is that they cant show the movies in asia if the have queer/trans couples. - Well, to bad for all those asian teens and their phobic society.

Reminder that

Inability to pronounce R is called rhotacism.

Inability to pronounce S is called sigmatism.

Inability to pronounce L is called lambdacism.

Dyslexia is a difficult word to write if you have dyslexia.

And the phobia of long words is possibly the longest word I've come across: Hippopotomonstroses-quippedaliophobia.

Why are people with speech disorders and dyslexia forced to suffer more than they have to?? I hate it here.
