Summary: Benedict dares to make his first move on you but not without consequent. Will he dare to go deeper into the dangerous waters he finds himself in.

The next ball was around the corner as despite everything, Benedict hoped to catch another glimpse of you. Ever since he laid eyes upon you, were you haunting his dreams. As a ballerina on a center stage were you spinning around his mind. The spotlight constant on you. Turning and turning till he got dizzy from admiring you. He putted his glove better over his hand, sharing a carriage with his brothers and Eloise. – “These dreadful pins.” – called Eloise out, struggling with the irritating feeling it gave her on her head. She groaned, throwing her hands down onto her lap. Colin sighed soft, motioning for her to present her head better to him. She did as she was told, crossing her arms. Colin retracted the pin a bit from her hair, but not quite out of it. 

He then pushed it back, letting the end of the pin go in a different direction. – “Better?” – asked he, holding his hands up in case he had to intervene again. Eloise touched her head for a moment, scrunching her nose. – “At least it isn’t poking holes in my head anymore.” – responded she bitter. Benedict chuckled a bit, finding his little sister amusing. Eloise glanced over to him. The conversation she had with her brother still vivid in her mind. She could still recapture his words, the way the tone in his voice changed, the little details in his facial expressions that gave him away. Something was brooding inside of him. She just wasn’t sure yet what it was.

i'm fully serious when i say that the scene where charlotte asks brimsley about him never marrying is one of my absolute favourites of the franchise.

like, she clearly knows nothing about him personally. why would she? and clearly, they're both equally lonely. clearly his line of "who could ever be free to spend a lifetime with me?" applies to both of them here. clearly, they're mirrors.

and equally, they're the ones they each spend their lifetime with. they're companions, they're bound forever, they care for one another deeply. but they're always divided, they'll never fully understand each other, they can't give each other what they both crave.

and neither of them can ever, ever say it. the closest they'll come is charlotte saying "you care for me" for him. because in the end, it's always brimsley reaching out and never touching to console her in that hallway and always charlotte turning around to ask him the most basic of details about him when they've both known each other for years and years and years.

The Ton in the Bridgertons

We do not see much politics in the Bridgertons but as sexism exist you cannot brush over or make racism disapear in what 40 years ? I try to be sensible about but as I am a white individual I might make mistake and apologise if so and will correct it.

At first we would still keep the same hierarchy of power than the one in real life and, I assume, in the show.

Secondly let's talk about THE thing that changes everything in the Bridgertons : the Great experiment.

The Great experiment appeared for the same reason than show in Queen Charlotte but it's a bit more subtle. It was introduced mostly so Charlotte could marry the king George but never did the royal councils intended to actually give more power to the "other side" of the society. Even if people could now get invited and participate in activity didn't mean they'd be invited or treated well.

Queen Charlotte is actually the one who shacked things up, after mostly focusing on her marriage at first she slowly woke up and saw that despise what was said her own were still being rejected and treaded unfairly. By attending Lady Danbury ball, she shoke things up. When some titles were left without any heir she would think first of giving it to the "other side" (that's how Simon's dad became Duke) etc.

Even thought the Queen Charlotte promoted tolerance things didn't completely work out that way. The "original" Ton felt jealous and left alone and while they couldn't reject the other side at the more little scandal possible they would directly reject a familly. And while young did marry racized Lord it was almost UNFATHOMABLE that an eligible white Lord would marry a girl of colour. It got a little better but there is still a lot of pression on racized people. A few Lord did actually mary girls from the "other side" the most known one being St-Clair, Abernathy and the Sterlings leaving a lot of preassure on their children because they represent this new kind of union and must be perfect. So it is a big deal that so many of the Bridgertons will have union with people of the other side as they are one of the most old and respected familly.

Rewritting of Bridgertons

First of I want to say that it is in no way me bashing Julia Quinn. She has wrote a popular book series that she managed to put on the screen and for that she deserves alot of respect.

BUT

The books are a hot messes for many, many, many reasons, the three last one are ok but still quite questionable.

(I am obviously in no way claiming to be a better writter or that what I'll do will be good but I decided to rewrite and change what I didn't like and what I think could do better. )

Important information about this rewrite :

As I had hard time with honestly any of the love interest, ESPECIALLY, the boys one (with the exception of my boy Gregory, you were boring but cute) and that I felt like the women character had honestly a waste of potential I will change all of them a LOT. I will also rant about why I didn't like them in the first place.

As the books are so messy I also consider the series as canon and I have a lot of confusion about the way the society and great experiments was done ?! Like honestly WASTED potential.

This will NOT be historically accurate my dear friends purely fictional as I'll state multiple time.

Violet Bridgerton should definitely have Danbury’s brother tend her garden. It’s only fair after Lord Ledger tended Agatha’s.

Is it just me or does anyone else get very furious whenever they see people calling Edwina a brat for being selfish or stopping her sisters happiness when in fact both Kate and Anthony and everyone who saw how Anthony clearly loved Kate and still chose to marry Edwina were in the wrong. Edwina had every right to be mad when her sister was having an affair with her fiancé who she thought loved her. Fuck people for thinking that unreasonable, fuck everyone for standing by and letting Edwina go through that oblivious. Edwina only realised on the day of her wedding when Anthony stopped in the middle of his vows to pick up Kate’s bangle that fell…the fuck. Honestly props to Edwina for running out in the middle of her wedding and not settling for second best, I also understand her anger at Kate. The fact that Kate marries Anthony and both come out smelling roses while Edwina the seasons diamond is gossiped about because she left a good upstanding man at the altar makes me furious. I hate Anthony and Kate don’t face any consequences because true love. I hate the full story line and Edwina truly deserved better. The sheer betrayal of it all had me seethe
