from 1 to "richie being forced to cut a body in pieces by grace while singing in an abandoned haunted house" how stressed are you?

Imagine??? Steph being really flustered by compliments/physical touch??? Because she didn't get pretty much of any as a kid??? And the group just working in complimenting her every time they see her??? And being as clingy as possible??? And slowly boosting her self-worth???
Steph: the nerds I hang out with keep complementing me... WHAT'S THEIR MOTIVE?
Richie, Ruth, and Pete who are trying to sneakily force her into loving herself:
I don't know where to talk about this but I need to talk with SOMEONE about how NPMD has an ongoing theme (I think it's a theme?) of people getting a taste of what they always wanted before it is stolen from them and they die.
[MASSIVE SPOILERS]
Max thought the nerds actually cared about him and were willing to do something nice for him out of their own free will.
And then he fell and realised the nerds didn't care about him, they only wanted to hurt him (although they didn't actually want to kill him).
Richie finally became friends with the popular footballers (is it football? I'm Australian idk) and they told him they liked + needed him.
And then Max called out and made Richie think they were bullying him again, then told him that he'll always be a loser.
Ruth got her moment on stage and hit that amazing high note, proving to herself that she could be a lead at a musical theatre and be the star of the show.
And then Max booed her, which essentially told her that she could never be good enough to do it, and he killed her before she could ever perform in front of an audience.
Steph's dad and his assistant don't fit this, but they're not main characters.
Pete finally asks Stephanie out for the dance and she says yes, fulfilling both of their hopes for each other's love.
And then... If Max hadn't stopped the bullet, Pete would've died knowing he could never be with Steph, and Steph would have lived on in sadness. And if Grace hadn't called Max away and tricked him, then they both would have died with the knowledge that they failed to save the person they loved most and would never be with them.
In giving up her chastity, Grace stops the cycle from repeating with Steph & Pete, and instead forces Max to die again. Max doesn't actually lose what he wanted most with his second death, because Grace substitutes her want (to become holy again and to have this never haunt her again) for one of his wants (to have sex with Grace).
I don't know if I'm onto something here, if I'm being crazy, or if someone else has already noticed it.
So, I might've seen it on the starcanwrecked confessions blog, but someone said that Nerdy Prudes "didn't hit as hard" and didn't feel like it fit with Guy and Black Friday because it didn't have that theme of want and I am here to debate that.
Nerdy Prudes Must Die absolutely has a theme of want. Pete's first solo is about how he doesn't want to be a loser anymore, how much better all would be if he was even slightly popular. He's said "I want to be invisible" but really he wants a world where he doesn't have to be invisible to survive. "All my life, I've just wanted a girl to like me" and now he has that. Pete wants a lot of things, things that aren't insane to ask of the world and he's one of the only ones that got them.
Grace doesn't understand her wants and needs and thus results in accidental manslaughter. Something in her wants Max and she's terrified by that because no one ever taught her how to deal with it. In the end, she can't. She can't deal with it and now she wants to enact the word of her god. She wants to punish the pervy dudes of the world.
Richie -much like Pete- just wants to be even slightly popular. He wants friends, he doesn't want to be alone. Yes, he's a slight nihilist, but he doesn't want to be a loser. Along the same lines, all Ruth can talk about is how she wants someone. She wants to be seen, she wants to be touched, she wants the spotlight, she wants eyes on her but it makes her physically ill to be perceived, so she can't have what she wants.
Steph wants to be out of the spotlight. She wants her dad to get off her ass and maybe even treat her like his daughter for once, she wants equity, she wants to keep her friends safe. And, as we all know, she wants Pete. She wants genuine affection, she wants someone that sees her as Steph and not "The Mayor's Daughter". She doesn't want that publicity because she doesn't care about it.
And, of course, Max. He has a god complex, he wants it all. He wants the popularity, the control, the look of fear in the eyes of those he deems inferior. He wants Grace Chasity, he wants what he's told he can't have. He wants to kill those nerdy prudes.
Nerdy Prudes Must Die is entirely about want, it's just not as overt as it is in Guy or Black Friday. The Hatchetfield Series is, ultimately, about greed.
NERDY (lol) RANT TIME
To make this post short, it's under the cut cause I've got alot to say. Spoilers ahead cause it's a pretty recent show
Max's "The jocks you demonized" actually pisses me off . Cause dude, the scenes with the jocks are just them bulling somebody or apologizing only to admit that they'd do it again if Max came back. Max has a literal God complex, which is made worse after he rises from the dead. He fucking sexually harrased Grace. (I know Grace does get with him at the end, but still, he harrased her)
Do I feel bad for Max? Yeah, his dad sucks but that doesn't excuse any of the bullshit he put the main group through. He literally killed two of them and more then likely traumatized the others. I hate when pricks paint themselves the victims. How can you be demonized when you admit to yourself that you're a literal fucking monster?? I despise Jagerman with every fiber of my being. I do like the idea Max becoming a better person but still. He's a huge asshole. DDMD is so powerful because Grace just wants her fellow nerdy prudes to be seen as equals, respected. Jason was a bystander, Kyle was a jerk, Max was a demon humanized. All of the nerds' trauma prior to the events of NPMD was because of people like Max, people who enabled them, and the people who could do something but just sat there.
She's most likely been teased for her hyper religious family (not saying all faith is bad, just the faith that Grace's parents follow) and again, sexualized by Max "repressed girls are the biggest freaks" Jagerman. I love Grace with every fiber of my being.
please forgive me reading too far into everything but the more i rewatch Nerdy Prudes Must Die the more i am kind of just SO heartbroken by grace chastity's song at the very end. like her saying she's going all evil so that she can rewrite the score for "the nerds you minimized" like OUCH! i think that most of her change is due to the lords in black, but also it just hits so hard to realize like.. she WAS minimized. they were all made out to be nothing in the eyes of their peers. that's not a kind of trauma or self-image that just goes away. grace seems very confident through the show but she's just a kid! she's hurt from years of being made to feel small! she wants a different ending, one where she has control, where she has power. idk i just hope she gets all of the revenge she wants <3
Not Worm but;
So I saw Thirdchildart's animation wip (there's a part 1 to this) while scrolling through youtube shorts about a week back and this has lived in my head and dug its way into my playlist for that whole week. I am hungrily anticipating the full animation, I just can't wait for it.
Nerdy Prudes Must Die has some weak bits, but this scene and this song is the peak of the production imo. I recommend NPMD if you've got two hours to burn while you're doin whatever on the computer.
It's pretty funny sometimes and the dialogue and story is packed with depth. I don't really have an essay for you guys on this, but this scene is the most tragic for two reasons, and spoilers under the cut;
One, Richie's death is heavily implied to be the most brutal and gruesome in the show, a consequence for his misunderstanding here, that Max is murdering him for being a loser and not, you know, murdering him because Richie murdered Max first. Richie has genuinely just found acceptance and value in his new friends, the Nerdy Prudes, and the football team of which he's the mascot, welcoming him into the place that Max once occupied. Max is justifiably enraged that Richie hasn't understood here that he's going to die because of what he did and how he covered it up.
Two, because Max is projecting significantly here. Nobody cared that Max was dead. The entire school believes themselves better off now that he's gone (even though they lost the big game without their star quarterback) with Pete, one of the Nerdy Prudes, struggling to find a reason to feel guilty. Max is trying to make Richie feel like he won't be missed, when in actuality, Richie's corpse is found before Max's and mourned the most by the rest of the cast (even if the other Nerdy Prudes didn't even care to find out about their friend's death until the cops told them.) Max was (well, 18 but) a child in highschool. A shitty one, but not someone who deserved to be murdered and then forgotten like this.
It's an odd juxtaposition. Usually, the bully is unsympathetic and the nerds are shown in a better light, defending themselves, caring about eachother, showing unconditional support. But in NPMD, Max is outright murdered by a group of spineless geeks who go out of their way to dismember his body and hide it. Grace concocted the whole plan to humiliate Max because she wouldn't confront her erotic thoughts about him, which ultimately led to his death.
And in the end the Nerdy Prudes condemn Max to a fate even worse than undeath, thrown into the realm of the Lords in Black for whatever lovecraftian designs they have for him there. Maybe he'll make a reappearance in another starkids production.
It feels kinda Wormy, if you look at it right. The tragedy, the vengeance, the fact that it's in highschool, that pit of hell. Lemme know if you feel the same way.
I'm still working away on this!! I'll stream a couple days next week (probably Tuesday and Thursday?) while I keep at it!!
Drawing request!! You should do something with Ruth and Richie bc I absolutely adore their friendship

Ofc! here's some doodles :] ignore my art style changing I haven't drawn as much recently
‼️‼️NPMD SPOILERS‼️‼️ sorry it’s been a bit since I’ve made an edit it might be a little rough 😔😔

Guess who went to the funfair yesterdayyyyyyyy
I'm just gonna quickly recommend you give this YouTube video a quick watch, it's super well researched and I've watched it like 5 times already.
It does just make me feel even sadder for Richie though :(((
https://youtu.be/Q2YJ8GOUenU?si=-VCRxY8NNtvu3jMK
God I screamed so loud when Ruth showed up in working boys.
And I screamed even LOUDER when I saw Richie's outfit come into frame for like two seconds

I was sat in class today when I heard a boy behind me say to whatever he was watching on his phone: "Oh my god! Run Richie, RUN!!"
Istg my head whipped around at the speed of light and I whispered: "W h a t d i d y o u j u s t s a y ??"
Turns out he was playing Roblox with his online friend in class.
Needless to say I was disappointed.
I'm just sat here looking at the NPMD album cover and I feel like I'm really taking it in for the first time. Like, I always knew that it was Richie, but I never really thought about the implications. God, I have so many questions.
Like, how long had Max been chasing him at that point? How badly was he hurt?? Is it the same scene we saw at the start of the musical, or is it earlier/later on in his torture/death??
And then I looked at the logo and fully took in the fact that it's written in Richie's blood. I already knew, but like... idk how to describe it?? I just kinda thought that Max wrote it like that because that was how it was written on the logo. I felt so dumb when I realised that it was the other way around lol
The whole thing just makes me feel even worse for my poor boy 😭
More Richie from around my house

I seriously wonder why the entire NPMD fandom just unanimously decided that Richie has blue highlights
I'm NOT complaining (it suits him smh), but like how did everyone just agree without discussing it whatsoever???
Why did Max have to kill Richie first
WHY HIMMMMM

Rewatching NMT1 and I just noticed this in the opening?? Richie is this you???? Was it being foreshadowed THIS early????
