Aku hates atsushi cause all he sees when he looks at him is what Aku should've been for Dazai if he was "powerful" enough
Back when Dazai was training Aku he was very distant and didn't give any praise or attention and when he did give him attention he was beating the shit out of him or degrading him, so Aku ignores or is very distant to Atsushi cause he thinks that's the worst thing someone can do to someone cause he knows how much it hurts to be on the other end (in contrast to Atsushi who uses his trauma to understand people in weak or similar positions he once was) ((the writing of this fucking show is on another level))
Compare this with Dazai and Chuuyas dynamic
They are all over eachother, constantly giving eachother all of their attention while throwing insults, the difference is Dazai and Chuuya see eachother as equals as much as they might claim to be better than the other they are equals and they know it. That's why there's no distance between them.

So I was explaining the skk ship to a friend of mine that hasn't touched any bsd material yet but is a fan of Dazai because of tiktoks, I told her how I find it funny that 30k+ stories out of the 70k+ bsd ffs in ao3 has the soukoku ship tagged in it.
Me: –It's so hilarious to think that their ship is so much more famous even though none of them are the main protagonists—
Her: Wait, Dazai isn't the protagonist?
Me: Kh– Wait wait wait did you think that Dazai was the main protagonist?!

I then had to go to the official wiki to prove that Dazai isn't the main protagonist even though at this point he might as well be.

wait until you find out that only a couple hours after meeting him in the 15 light novel dazai tells chuuya that he loves him (chuuya responds like eww, which im sure keeps dazai up at night for years)
I couldn’t tell if this was a joke or not but Jesus Christ you are right. I just got to chapter 5 in the Chuuya manga and Dazai literally says he loves him??? What the hell? They play it off like, oh gross I totally don’t even want to think about that but even in context it was out of no where. I think I had seen the panel before but I assumed it was edited, what is wrong with these men. Turning me homophobic specifically over them, just kiss already and drop the tension it’s been years now (also I’m so mad they didn’t add that in the anime!!!!!)

skk don't use romantic words or actions to show they love eachother. They do random-ass things that to the normal person seem very rude or passive-aggressive or just plain weird but to them, they understand what it means.
