Simple Spell for Creativity

Simple Spell For Creativity

My boyfriend is a journalist who has been trying to do more creative writing endeavors. So, with his permission, I set up a quick and fairly simple spell to help inspire creativity.

Ingredients and Supplies

Orange candle for creativity (white candles can be substituted)

Your choice of dressing oil (I used olive oil for this, but any special one that fits the bill can be used)

Powdered cinnamon

Coffee grounds

A sprinkling of lavender buds

Ace of Wands card (or any other sort of token that relates to creativity and inspiration)

Mint tea

How to

For starters, I prepared the tea. As I steeped the tea bag, I focused on my intent and my desire to inspire creativity to help my boyfriend with his endeavors.

Simple Spell For Creativity

As the tea steeped, I dressed the candle with olive oil and a sprinkling of cinnamon powder before placing it on a tray. I surrounded it with coffee grounds and lavender buds. As I lit it, I said a simple little incantation of, "I call the power of the muses to me. Fill the place with creativity."

Simple Spell For Creativity

Once that was in place, I set up the Ace of Wands card so that the candle light shone upon it.

Simple Spell For Creativity

Happy casting, friends!

A candle spell for job hunters

Finding a job since moving has been a thorn in my side, honestly. So I've decided to weave a little magic into my efforts.

A Candle Spell For Job Hunters

First and foremost, before we get into it: candles become more of a fire hazard after they've been dressed. Please practice fire safety!

That being said...

Materials

Yellow candle (success, strengthens focus)

Peppermint (prosperity)

Cinnamon (prosperity, success)

Bay leaf [crumbled as fine as you can] (manifestation)

Catnip (attraction, in conjunction with everything else, specifically attracting employment

Anointing oil of your choosing (I tend to use just olive oil, but decided to use a prosperity oil a friend made)

Green aventurine (opportunity)

Citrine (luck and abundance)

Tigers eye (courage to put yourself out there and get what you aim for)

(Optional) oracle or tarot card that reflects your intention

Start by dressing your candle with your oil. To draw something to you, dress from the bottom of the candle, moving upward to the center. Add your herbs, focusing on the intention. Arrange your crystals as desired, as well as your card if you want to include it. Light your candle, holding your intention in your mind. I also put the leftover herb mixture around the candle, but that's because I am prone to prepping too much.

Herb and stone and candle's flame

You can simply focus on your intention, or you can say something aloud. For this, I said this little incantation

"Herb and stone and candle's flame

Open roads for employment gain.

Guide my feet and ready my hand

Brave my soul to trust the plan."

Let the candle burn out.

Happiness Tea Spell

One of my favorite tea recipes that I like incorporating into my day whenever I need that extra little boost.

1 part lemon balm

1/2 part lavender

1/2 part rose petals

Blend and prepare your tea, steeping for 4-6 minutes. While steeping, breathe in the warmth and say "A cup of tea, a simple request. Fill my day with what I love best. With joy in my soul and hope in my heart, I thank the gods [universe, whatever feels right to you] for this new spark."

If you want to add a little extra layer to this spell, I like lighting a yellow candle during the process, as well as placing a citrine by my cup while the tea is steeping so I can infuse the brew with its energy.

Money Powder

Cinnamon (prosperity, success, amplifies and enhances other ingredients)

Ginger (money, luck, quickens manifestation)

Mint (prosperity and abundance)

Bay leaf (wishes, success)

Grind all ingredients and mix together, focusing on your intention.

Sprinkle mixture in your wallet or purse. Use to dress candles for prosperity rituals. Can also be used as a floor sweep to help banish financial struggles and invite stability.

Letting Go Potion [for relationships that no longer serve you]

Letting go of people isn't always easy, even if they aren't good for you. I could wax poetic about the number of toxic relationships, whether romantic or platonic, I've kept alive simply because I was too anxious to set boundaries. Even when people would hurt me, I'd still grieve those relationships after they ended. This concoction has a lot of ingredients that focus on cleansing, strength, and joy, which can be helpful in those times of transition after endings.

Ingredients

2 large leafy basil sprigs, stems smashed with side of knife

1 piece thinly sliced ginger

2 cups water

1/4 cup honey

1 tsp ground turmeric

2 cups grapefruit juice

2 cups orange juice

1/3 cup lemon juice

Add basil, water, ginger, honey, and turmeric to small saucepan and bring to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to simmer and cook for 5 minutes.

Remove pan from heat and let cool. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer over your pitcher. Use a spatula to press as much of the liquid goodness as possible. Measure off 1 cup of syrup (reserve the remaining for sweetening other teas).

To a large pitcher, add the measured syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, and grapefruit juice together until combined. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

This makes about 4 servings, so you can adjust portions as needed or make the full amount.

For magical workings: focus on your intention with ever step. Breathe in the vapors as the syrup heats, envisioning protecting your heart, strengthening yourself, and knowing that you are enough. You can also pray to whatever deities you feel can help with your working, or light candles that match your intention.

For a little extra layer of magic, do this in the last few nights of the lunar cycle, just before the new moon.

When you're done, burn the leaf in your dish.

When doing this spell, please please please practice fire safety!

Purification Oil

As the title above suggests, this is an oil that's great for your purification needs. Dress candles, use it to draw cleansing sigils, etc.

Bay leaves

Lemon peel

Thyme

Rosemary

Olive oil to cover

Place your herbs in a jar and seal. Store them in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks to a month to infuse.

While preparing the oil, you can enhance the energies by making this more of a ritual. Light white candles as you focus your intentions. Charge the oil with crystals by placing crystals for cleansing on or around the jar while it infuses.

How To Make A Spell Locket

How To Make A Spell Locket

I love lockets. Especially vintage ones that have filigree designs engraved on them. Or sometimes they come in different shapes like hearts, circles or ovals. Lockets to me already feel kind of mysterious reminding me of poison rings but for keeping photos or secrets inside.

If you have a locket sitting around, this spell is the perfect way to switch it up and wear your locket with your spell intention. If you need a locket first, try checking out thrift shops or craft stores. You can find pretty inexpensive lockets at any jewelry rack at a second hand shop, or score a pack of them at your local craft supply store.

Making spell lockets is really simple and only requires a few ingredients depending on what you choose to designate your locket for.

Protection Spell Locket

Black Obsidian Chips

Mugwort, Sage, and/or Rosemary

Black Candle Wax

Incense

Abundance Spell Locket

Citrine Chips

Basil

Green Candle Wax

Incense

Psychic Abilities Spell Locket

Amethyst

Jasmine

Purple Candle Wax

Incense

To Find Other Witches Locket

Labradorite

Rosemary

Gold candle wax

Incense

To create your spell locket set your items out in front of you and light the candle color correspondence to the spell locket you are creating. Light your candle and incense. Meditate to clear your mind and cast a white circle around yourself and your spell.

Light your incense and cleanse your locket by passing it through the smoke first. Next, cleanse the crystal chips and herbs you will be using.

Arrange the crystal chips in your locket. Next, arrange the herbs. Both the crystals and the herbs should be placed in a way that the locket can still be closed and latched if necessary. If you have too many pieces in your locket, reduce them by removing a few herbs and crystal chips.

Once you have the desired amount and your locket can easily close, take your candle and let the wax drip inside setting the crystal chips and herbs inplace. (Careful not too much!) Let the wax dry. If you’ve over dripped or are no longer able to close the locket, carefully take a toothpick and scrape the excess wax off.

Set your intention over the locket by reciting the following but paraphrasing for your intention: I create this amulet for ______________ and charge it with my intention to _________________.  (For instance you can say, “I create this amulet for protection and charge it with my intention to protect me from all harm.”)

If you are actively wearing the necklace, don’t forget to take it outside and charge it under the full moon each month.

Graphics on this blog post were created by Obsidian Odyssey. Thank you so much for creating the amazing art art for this post! Check out her witchy blog and join her online coven. <3

Pshh, hey. If you are in a budget or if you have to hide your practice, I have some witchy tips for you.

• You don’t need to have an altar. But if you want to, creating an altar on a wooden box is great; you can collect stuff to put in there and you can hide it under your bed.

• You don’t need crystals. Common rocks can be energised to act with a certain intention and they work just as well. You can also associate the place you got the stone/rock from with an intention, such as: a rock from a river or sea can be used for cleansing, purifying, taking energies away from you. A stone found at the property of a hospital can be used for health spells. These are vague examples, so I might make a list later on of all kinds of things you can do with mineral founding.

• Energised water is a great offering to most entities. Water holds memory and it’s easy to energise it with a certain intention if you concentrate.

• You don’t actually need candles. For many deities, an object that remembers you of them works as a taglock, an identification of the deity you’re worshipping. Besides, many spells do not need candles to work, such as: ritual baths, petitions, etc.

Have fun, and remember that your practice isn’t meant to look the same as other practitioners’. We are supposed to do things our own way, as long as it doesn’t harm anyone or anything.

I always forget this stuff! Thank you so much for making this!!!

Many of us have our own preferences for the crystals we work with. If you are called to use crystals, I encourage everyone to do some research on your own and to trust your intuition as the energy from some crystals may resonate with you more so than others. I recommend the tried and true Crystal Bible, by Judy Hall and Crystals for Beginners or Crystals for Healing, by Karen Frazier. Here is a compiled a list of a few of the top "go-to" crystals and some very basic and high-level information to go along with them below. This is a general list, not my own.

Here are a few go to crystals to reference...

Lucky Girl Spell

Crit. Thinking Stage 1: Said to be manifesting.

Crit. Thinking Stage 2: Science

Energy (electromagnetic field)

Clear energy centers (chakras)

Intention + Elevated Emotion (thing you want to manifest + the feeling you associate with the goal)

Define '(to) Manifest': visualize your desire and harness the power of your imagination to make it a reality.

Affirm that you are lucky and grateful for being lucky (affirmations)

Source: Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza &

Reticular Activating System (RAS) is a bundle of nerves in your brain stem.

The nerves act as a filter, by seeking information that validates your beliefs, positive or negative (buy a red car? every car is suddenly red.)

Whatever you believe, your brain will find data to back that up (subconscious confirmation bias)

To achieve the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome', believe that you're lucky and, if you affirm that you are, you're brain will believe or at least assume the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' faster.

Source: Kiran Jagpal, YouTube Short

'Pretty Woman Theory': the negative things are always easier to believe versus the positive things.

Brain is naturally more set up to grasp the negative faster than the positive, for survival.

'Lucky Girl Syndrome' is a retraining of your brain to grasp the positive faster than the negative, or to see the positive more than the negative.

Law of Attraction is toxic in New Age spirituality.

History of Law of Attraction: Starts with Phineas Quimby; he got sick with TB and saw that there were no known cures for it and went on an adventure to find one; he found one in the happiness he found while horseback riding; thought all doctors were con-men; thought his positive thoughts cured him of his TB; he got super into mesmerism* and hypnosis; Mary Baker Eddie, a follower of Quimby, founded Christian Science (needs more research); Warren Felt Evans, a follower of Quimby, is usually credited as the first author of the New Thought Movement; Prentice Mulford, unknown background/connection, wrote a series of essays titled Your Forces and How to Use Them in the years 1886 to 1892; Mulford built on Quimby's work (and assumedly Evan's work), coining the term 'New Thought' and the phrase 'Law of Attraction'; The Law of Attraction is the idea that whatever you mentally dwell on/focus on/think about is what ends up happening to you, and it is working 24/7, whether you intentionally use it or not (good things happen to people who think good things, and bad things happen to people who think bad things); The New Thought Movement is born from the 'Law of Attraction' and all the workings of the people before it; 4 main ideas of the New Thought Movement are: 1: God or infinite intelligence is "supreme, universal, and everlasting". 2: Divinity dwells within each person, that all people are spiritual beings. 3: "...the highest spiritual principle [is] loving one another unconditionally... and teaching and healing one another". 4: "...our mental states are carried forward into manifestation and become our experience in daily living..."; {host does not seem to like the term 'manifestation'}; you can find similar roots in Hinduism, but it isn't the same; New Thought Movement had a strong Christian impact; out of the NTM (New Thought Movement) and the LoA (Low of Attraction) where we get the idea of Prosperity Gospel (if you believe in God hard enough, good things will happen to you, and vice versa); the LoA and manifestation is framed in a very Christian light by the book 'The Power of Positive Thinking' by Norman Vincent Peale; the public is more familiar with these concepts being introduced by 'The Secret' ; 'The Secret' was brought onto the Oprah Show and mainstreamed modern audience ("largely white, middle-class suburbanites... new agers..."); New Age movement and the witchcraft community are pretty parallel in trends and topics.

Law of Attraction is a deeply toxic and harmful idea. Good thoughts = Good things. Bad thoughts = Bad things. 'People are responsible for the bad things that happen to them; because they didn't think right.' "Having a positive outlook helps you heal, but it is not your fault that you were sick to begin with."

Define the 'Law of Attraction': a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. It is based on the belief that thoughts are a form of energy and that positive energy attracts success in all areas of life, including health, finances, and relationships.

Define 'Mesmerism': hypnotism/hypnosis

Define 'Hypnotism/Hypnosis': Hypnotism is the study or practice of hypnosis. Hypnosis is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration.

Seems biased against Christianity, and pessimistic.

Source: Lucky Girl Syndrome and The Law of Attraction by BS-Free Witchcraft

Manifestation can be blocked by the Shadow Self, hence the reason why people feel the need to 'raise their vibrations'. The Shadow Self is the Lowest Version of yourself with the lowest vibration.

Despite negative assumptions about the Shadow Self, its main goal is to know if your needs are being met and to fulfill those needs.

It is said that the planetary alignment for better manifestations of good is the Sun. The symbol (circle with a dot inside) is said to be the relationship with the macrocosmic and the microcosmic and perfectly balanced. Best day to invoke and manifest said good vibes is Sunday.

What said above is true, if you wish to tap into your more divine powers, make sure to manifest on Monday, the day of the Moon.

Source: Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn

Crit. Thinking Stage 3: Application

Plenty of people use this in real life. Most examples are on the internet and social media, prominently TikTok.

Using it myself has proven to be fruitful but may be a coincidence. So far, I'm going to keep moving forward with affirmations and hopefully it will prove more results.

Crit. Thinking Stage 4: Analysis

So far, this just seems to be manifestation broken down to a form where the general public can understand or choose to understand.

The Laws of Attraction and Assumption have been thrown around, almost as though they are the same. No evidence gathered has been set to confirm nor deny said fact.

Crit. Thinking Stage 5: Synthesis

I can predict that a few people may look towards critical thinking and find out where the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' comes from, scientifically, as people already have. I am simply waiting for someone to do an actual studying on the phenomenon.

A few who practice the 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' may also start to use witchcraft or a form of it, maybe through religion.

Crit. Thinking Stage 6: Evaluation

I think that 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' is a mix of manifestation in the psychic sense and a rewiring of your brain.

For further research, look into these topics: Law of Assumption, Law of Attraction, Manifestation

The Lucky Girl Spell:

Herbs that can be used: Bay leaves, Black pepper, Anise, Neroli, Cardamom, Bergamot, Clary Sage/Sage, Orange

Bay for Obstacle-Removing, and Happy Trails

Black Pepper for Banishing, Count Your Blessings, and Protection

Anise for Banishing, and Protection

Neroli for Self-Improvement

Cardamom for Clarity

Bergamot for Success

Clary Sage/Sage for Money Drawing

Orange for Prosperity

Colors that can be associated: Green, Red, Gold/Orange/Yellow, White

Green for Success, and Money

Red for Confidence

Gold/Orange/Yellow for Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem

White for Anything (it is seen as a 'blank slate' and anything can be tied to it)

This is a candle spell; however, you can adapt it to whatever feels best for your practice.

Take your candle, and engrave it with a sigil, if you choose to. You can also write a petition and have it under it, if you want. Or you can just pour your energy into it. The decision is yours to make.

Now, anoint your candle, in whatever way works best for you, to invoke the feeling of 'luck' or 'being lucky'. That everything works out for you. You can roll your candle in the oil, and then roll it in herbs. Beware that this method may cause a fire hazard with any dried herbs.

Say a chant, a prayer, whatever, to get your message out to the Universe/your gods/etc. Once you start burning the candle, your spell will start, and the Universe will receive it to make the outcome best for you.

Happy Casting and Blessed Be, my friends.

What Is A Witchs Kiss?

What is a Witch’s Kiss?

In Puella Magi Madoka Magica and related works, a Witch's Kiss is a marking, the personal symbol or calling card of a Witch, used by a Witch and its Familiars (or Minions) to control the minds of humans and to mark their Labyrinth. These markings can be used to exacerbate pre-existing negative emotions and thoughts, change personalities, make people commit crimes or self-harm, or lure them into a Labyrinth to be consumed by the Witch inside. Some of these actions may not necessarily lead humans to being consumed: some Witches may merely desire to spread evil and misfortune regardless if they get sustenance. Furthermore, a ‘kissed’ human may not always die from it. Familiars can also kiss humans well outside of the Labyrinth they hail from in order to bring them to their Witch.

Note: In the magical hero community, I’ve heard these markings referred to as ‘sigils’ as well, but I hesitate to use that terminology for this case because I think it can cause unnecessary confusion for practitioners who regularly use sigils in their own magia. I can acknowledge that a Witch utilizes their Kiss as a sigil for their own gain, however.

If a puella magi or other magical hero is in possession of a Witch’s Kiss, it generally means that they came across it somehow in their day-to-day or astral travels and took note of its components for later exploration into the corresponding Labyrinth. The Kiss can contain visual elements that reveal attributes of the Witch including her appearance, nature, or even aspects of her Labyrinth or Familiars; this information is extremely helpful for any magical hero who is preparing to engage in magical combat with a Witch. The Kiss itself can also be used as a portal into its owner’s Labyrinth.

As a chaos magick practitioner as well, I assert that one can also reverse engineer a Witch’s Kiss for their own spellcraft. Is there something that you want to combat magically? Sigilize components of whatever you want vanquish and create a Kiss. This, in turn, can help conceptualize the trouble you are facing into a Witch and thus easier to focus energy towards defeating.

If you need a template for understanding or documenting a Witch, whether found or created, I recommend this format that was used for many of the Witch Cards that were displayed on the original Japanese website for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime:

[NAME], the [DESCRIPTOR, NOUN] Witch with a [DESCRIPTOR, ADJECTIVE] nature. The Witch is mainly colored [COLOR], is [DESCRIPTOR, SIZE], and resembles a/n [NOUN]. This Witch is [DESCRIPTOR, STRENGTH] and her weapon is [NOUN]. Her Labyrinth resembles [NOUN/DESCRIPTION] and her Familiars are named [NAME].

You can also add any additional information that helps you further visualize the Witch and its influence.

This post is part of my Magi Praxis series. If you have any suggestions for future topics, or you have attempted anything I have shared and want you share your experiences, please send me a message! I am always happy to go back and provide further explanation as well. ☆

Reading candle flames and soot!

tall/strong flame: lots of energy; barriers coming down; quick, happy results are likely. small/steady flame: less energy (still good!); positive results likely/may be delayed. stay focused on your goals! small/weak flame: flickering and bending is generally a sign something is not working; timing may be off; asking for something unfavorable; if flame falters and dies, it's a sign your spell won't be granted at this time. high/dancing flame: possible chaotic energy; successful spell, possibly with some complications/other wills may be working against you. rapidly flickering: dims and brightens; spirits are present; usually indicates success and that your message was heard. blue flame: a sign of spiritual presence; higher spiritual beings have taken an interest in your spell; power added to the spell. popping and stuttering: noisy candles indicate that outside forces are present; communication w/spirits; can mean interference or sending a message to you/increase concentration on the spell. flame suddenly goes out: spell has been extinguished by outside forces; usually means spell did not work; sit and rethink/meditate longer. candle won't light: possible wick issue or this spell won't work for your purposes; the outcome is outside your control; try again after reconsidering your intention and cleansing/smudging your space. -- black pieces in wax: (unintentional) black debris signifies unintended consequences; more spell work may be required; karmic baggage/guilt. Try some cleaning up. black soot on glass: signals negative energy/interference. black soot on top of the jar only: negative opposition has likely been overcome. black soot entire/majority of jar: spell unsuccessful; may need to cleanse and repeat work another time. white soot on glass: rare, represents spiritual communication and assistance. candle forms tunnel/crater in middle: incomplete candle burns w/lots of leftover wax isn't a good sign; will/focus too weak; ineffective energy to complete the task; spell blocked. candle explodes/container breaks/cracks: dramatic endings in candle magick are a sign your spell has been stopped by a higher power and you shouldn't be doing that spell work; reconsider intention/spell.

wax left in the container: lots of wax left on the bottom or sides of the candle container can indicate blockages to the success of your spell; might need to cleanse space and try again.

Signs of Energy Change

When you do spiritual work, such as drawing a sigil, invocations, evocations, cleansing, working with particular elements inside anad outside the body, there is energy moving around and working. The energy sometimes may not be working how the magus would perceive it to be but there are signs that take place around the magus and within the magus.

For example, working with the fire element, inside or outside, could cause feelings of warming up, you might feel it in your lower body or your chest, becoming much hotter and almost sweating.

Working with the water element would cause feelings of coolness and coldness or sometimes like you're in a pool.

If you're working with spirits, you might feel a pressure or a change in a particular spot. Maybe one spot becomes colder or warmer, maybe one spot feels like there's electricity.

if you're doing works where you're invoking, you may feel things internally. Pressures in the head, the chest, the arms, feelings of heat or coldness, the weird vibration feeling where your body feels like TV static, you might also feel like you're moving away from your body and someone else is there.

A few other signs that I've experienced are things like - after a cleansing, it feels like the air in a hospital - that clear, clean air.

Workings with sigils, the sigil may feel more electric when you hold it, when you hold your hand over it, you might also feel vibration, warmth, or magnetism.

When you're projecting energy out of your hands or when there is an increased energy flow, some people have dilated blood vessels which show through the skin, or their hands start to have more red blotches as energy and heat cause the capillaries to start to dilate. Alternative things include feelings of immense heat, vibration or electricity in the hands.

During healing rituals, you might experience warmth or buzzing in the area of note. If it is a ritual relating towards emotion, there may be a slight period of stillness ad peace or sometimes it will induce a cathartic release.

You might also feel, depending on the nature of the ritual, a pressure or heat in the third eye area, or in the chest. Your hairs may also stand up on end.

If you worked too much with your own energy, after the ritual - you may experience more hunger, fatigue, sometimes it will come with a period of emotional and spiritual burnout.

If you did an invocation, you might experience a euphoric headframe as well as a feelig of rejuventation and revitalization.

in the removal of hexes or in cleansings, I have noticed that some people do more purging activities such as more peering, more shitting, more sneezing, yawning, drinking more water or sometimes even vomiting.

Spirits of a more sexual nature may induce feelings of lust or cause erections and arousals upon their entering of the space.

Working with death energy may induce things such as fatigue or sometimes health issues but as you work more alongside it, it becomes easier to process and refine it.
