Fluff-uary Prompt - Trust
Prompt - ‘Keep your eyes on me and everything will be just fine, trust me.’
The sound of screaming from six blocks away had Peter launching himself from the roof he was currently perched upon, his pulse racing as the cries of children, screams of adults, panic from everybody continued to reach his ears. He could already see the smoke rising up into the air, thick and black as he swung closer, dread reaching his stomach as he entered the neighbourhood and silently, selfishly, begging it wasn’t your apartment.
Those pleas went unheard though as Spider-Man swung around the corner, freezing momentarily against a building as he watched flames engulf your apartment building. He swallowed against the lump in throat as he swung into action, entering the building through a window that had smashed from the heat pressure.
He made quick work of searching the lower floors where the flames were at their worst, helped four children, one teenager, two adults and dog out onto the street before he re-entered the building, panic running through his veins as he took in just how many scared people were trapped up here.
“C’mon, I gotchu,” He said as he scooped two children up into his arms, gently instructing them to hold on as he made quick but careful work of getting them outside. He went door to door helping everyone he came across but no matter how many people he helped his thoughts kept going back to you.
It wasn’t like he could run up to your apartment to check you weren’t home, not with the flames spreading higher and higher like it was nothing. There were still six more floors for him to clear and he could practically feel the fire under his feet.
Quickly he managed to clear the next five floors before he was finally able to get to yours. The flames had spread up to the floor below him and he still had six rooms to check.
He knocked on each of the doors as he made his way to your apartment, thankful that they were all empty with the exception of one where an elderly woman stood in fear. He quickly made his way to her, glancing at your door but knowing he had to make sure everybody was safe.
Peter began to web his way back up the apartment building, his heart stopping as the floors finally began to cave in on themselves. He watched frozen in horror as different parts of the building fell to the grounded and pleaded desperately, begging that you weren’t home.
Please don’t be home.
Peter couldn’t get up to your apartment, there was nowhere for him to web to, no place for him to get his footing. He managed to land on one of the lower floors, the fire dancing dangerously close to the suit, sweat beading under the mask as his view was obscured with the thick layer of smoke.
But then he heard a nose that turned his blood cold.
He heard your cry, heard you beg for help.
Peter turned his head upwards, quickly spotting you as you clung to the window sill, the only wall still standing, though for how long Peter wasn’t sure. He looked around, desperate for a way to get to you but there wasn’t one, either it was covered by flames or quickly crumbling to the ground.
“Oh my God.” He heard you gasp, choking on sobs and smoke as you looked down.
“Hey,” Peter called, trying to figure out a plan. He didn’t have long.
He watched you look around wildly before finding him through the smoke, sobbing in relief as you realised Spider-Man was there.
“You’re gonna be ok,” He told you, darting past the flames so he was directly underneath you.
“I can’t,” You tried to tell him but the smoke had you coughing and Peter felt his heart stop as the building shook, watched as you slipped down, barely managing to catch yourself on the window sill with a scared scream.
“You have to let go,” He yelled up to you, watching as you looked down at him with wide, scared eyes.
“What!?” You shouted back, looking past Spider-Man and down at the drop before shaking your head widely and clinging further onto the ledge. “I can’t!”
“I’ll catch you,” He promised, “I’m gonna catch you.”
He watched as you continued to shake your head, tears that filled your eyes finally made their way over the edge and down your cheeks as you sobbed, curling further into the wall in a desperate attempt to hold on but you could feel your fingers slipping, could feel the flames getting closer.
Peter watched them get closer, getting too close to you. He needed to get to you now but he couldn’t, the only way he could save you was for you to let go.
“Y/N, I’m going to catch you,” He swore but you just continued to look past him, look down at the drop.
Peter sobbed himself, he couldn’t lose you.
“Hey, look at me, look at me Y/N/N,” He called, watching as your eyes flickered from the ground to him before looking past him again, “That’s it, eyes on me,” Finally your eyes settled on him, watching him with fear clear in them.
“Attagirl,” He said, making sure your attention was solely on him as he reached up and ripped the mask off.
“Peter!” You gasped, choking out a sob as you looked down at him.
“Y/N, baby, you gotta trust me right now,” He called up to you, watching as you stared at him in shock before you took a deep breath.
“I trust you,” You told him, more tears making their way down your face.
“That’s my girl,” He smiled, watching as you nodded, psyching yourself up to do as he instructed. “You just gotta let go baby, I’ll catch you.”
“Promise?” You asked, voice too soft for a normal person to hear but Peter picked it up as clearly as if you’d shouted it at him.
“I promise baby, I promise.” He assured you, blinking back his own tears not wanting to scare you even more, he needed you to trust him right now.
“Let go,” He told you, watching as you scrunched your eyes close and, just as the flames came closer to you, the heat almost painful, you let go off the ledge and felt yourself fall.
It seemed to last for far too long, fear flooded you as you realised Peter wasn’t going to catch you. And then you felt your body stop suddenly in the air, the force of it ripping the breath out of your lungs but then you opened your eyes and saw Peter above you. You let out a choked sob as you looked from him to the floor, seeing that you were safe.
Peter had saved you.
Peter pulled on the web that had attached to you, pulled it until you were within arms reach of him before he pulled you up into his arms. You wrapped your arms around his neck, your face nestling into his chest as you soaked his suit with tears.
Peter held you tightly, one hand resting on the back of your head and keeping it against his chest as he lowered the two of you to the ground before he carried you away from the flames and pieces of falling building, his mask firmly back in place before he stepped out onto the street.
People cheered around the two of you as Peter set you down on the floor but you refused to let go of him, you couldn’t if you wanted to.
“Are you ok if I swing us to my house?” He asked you, voice soft and gentle.
He smiled sadly as you nodded into his chest before he shot a web and started in the direction of his house as carefully as he could, you clinging to him tightly the whole time.
It wasn’t long before the two of you arrived, thankfully Aunt May was working the night shift so it was only the two of you home. Peter hadn’t let you go though, instead he carried you up to his bedroom and over to his bed.
He held you close for what felt like hours, neither of you saying anything as you came to terms with the fact that you were safe.
Peter had saved you.
Spider-Man had saved you.
“You saved me.” You mumbled against his chest, voice thick from crying and the smoke.
“I’ll always save you,” He promised as he placed a kiss to the top of your head. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about Spider-Man.”
“I don’t care, I’m just glad you’re him. I wouldn’t, couldn’t have trusted anyone else like that.” You told him honestly, trusting a man in a mask seemed ridiculous, trust Peter Parker though, that came as easily as breathing.
“I’ve never been so scared in my life.” He told you, causing you to let out a slightly hysterical laugh.
“You and me both.”
“Thank you for trusting me,” He said softly after a few moments of silence in which you had let your eyes close and slowly began to fall asleep.
“Thank you for catching me.” You replied equally as quiet as you shifted closer to him, not wanting to let him go.
Eventually you drifted off to sleep but Peter remained awake as he listened to the sound of your breathing, the steady beat of your heart…the reminders that you were ok, you were alive, he had saved you.
The thought of losing you, the thought of him not catching you sent a pain through his heart that he couldn’t have explained if he tried. It left him feeling cold and empty, the thought of not being quick enough and seeing your lifeless body…
Peter took a deep, steadying breath, watching as you cuddled closer to him and pushed those thoughts away because you were here and you were ok.
He had caught you.
He let himself lay with you for an hour or so before he untangled himself from you, smiling as you grumpily mumbled in your sleep before curling into his pillow. He hated to do it but he had to get the Spider-Man suit off before Aunt May came home.
He made quick work of stripping out of it, slipping into a soft pair of pyjama pants before he turned to you and gently started pulling your jeans off, pausing twice as you shifted. It wasn’t long before he pulled a pair of his own pyjama bottoms onto you and climbed back into bed, pulling you into his arms again.
He placed a lingering kiss to the top of your head before closing his eyes, focusing on your heartbeat that let him know you were alive.
“I love you so much, baby.” He told your sleeping figure before he finally drifted off to sleep himself.

Febuwhump Prompt - I dreamt you were alive
Prompt - ‘He's a hero and one day it's going to kill him because his heart is too big, and he carries it in his hands, and no one can hold up the sky forever.’
No day was ever easy, not one day passed when you didn’t mourn those you’d lost, those who had been snapped away. Today was a bad day, today the weight of Peter being gone was weighing down painfully on you, it made it harder to breathe and all you wanted to do was stay in bed and hide away.
You dad stood in the doorway, arms crossed as he bit his lip. Tony knew just how you were feeling, that day on Titan replayed in his head every single day, watching as Peter turned to dust in his arms…no words could describe that feeling. Then he’d gotten home, barely, and the knot in his chest loosened, only slightly, as he saw you alive. He bundled you up in his arms and listened to you sob about how you thought he had died.
Then he had to tell you about Peter.
He watched as your eyes widened in disbelief as you let out a huff of laughter, shaking your head as you did. You told him Peter wasn’t dead, told him he wasn’t funny but Tony just looked at you sadly and you froze, tears running down your cheeks as you continued to shake your head, refusing to believe it but the sobs left your lips and you all but collapsed into his arms. The silence was the worst for him though, watching as you became a shell of yourself.
Eventually everybody settled into the new world but that didn’t mean the pain lessened, it just became a part of them.
“Hey baby,” Tony said from his spot against the door frame, he watched as you sniffed and shifted towards him, smiling shakily at him. “Come on, let’s go for a walk, just us.” He said, watching you nod before he gave you a minute to get up.
You watched as your dad left and despite the heavy weight that rested on your heart you couldn’t help but be relieved that he was alive, your dad was safe.
It wasn’t long before you were shrugging a coat on to ward against the autumn chill and heading downstairs, watching as your dad stood up and shot you a warm smile. It helped more than he knew, seeing him here, seeing him alive and happy even if Peter wasn’t here to see it.
“C’mon,” He said, leading you out of the cabin before he wrapped his arm around you and pulled you close.
The walk was nice, your cheeks flushed from the cold but it was exactly what you needed. No words were spoken between you and your dad, not at first but eventually he began talking and you were content to just listen.
“You know when I first found out about you I was terrified,” He told you with a laugh and you couldn’t help but smile over at him, “I was so scared and then I held you, this little girl, the whole world, my whole world in the palm of my hands. I knew I couldn’t let you down then, god you were barely an hour old and had me wrapped around your little finger.” He laughed, looking over at you and hardly believing you were that same little girl.
He squeezed you gently in his arms, pressing you further against him so he could press a kiss against your head.
“It’s hard without him, I know it is kid, but you’ve gotta be brave. You’ve got to know he loved you so much, he thought the world of you, as he should’ve.” Tony chuckled coming to a halt when he saw tears falling down your cheeks and he cupped your face letting his thumbs gently brush them away. “He’d be so proud to see you now, Y/N/N.”
You couldn’t stop the tears falling down your face at your dad's words, stepping closer to him so you could bury your head in his chest as he wrapped his arms around you. You clung to him, feeling like if you let go of him everything would slip away. It was like he was your only grip on reality and that thought had you tightening your grip on him.
“I’m so proud of you, baby.” He whispered against your hair causing you to take a sharp, deep breath in as you choked on more tears. “You’re so strong, Y/N/N, so brave.”
Tony continued his words of praise until you were gasping for breath, the world around you feeling like it was going to fall from out below your feet at any second.
“I love you so much, baby.” Tony told you, pulling away and cupping your cheeks in his hands again, looking you right in the eyes.
“I love you too,” You managed to choke out, feeling like you were going to drown in your tears.
You let out another choked sob as you felt the world actually shift, felt it shake around you and your eyes locked onto your dad’s, your hands clinging to him as you looked at him, fear in your eyes.
“It’s ok, baby, you’re gonna be ok.” He told you before you were plunged into darkness and only seconds later your eyes flew up as you sat up violently, gasping as you tried to catch your breath.
“Hey, hey, you’re ok,” You heard a voice say softly, a hand running comfortingly up and down your back but you couldn’t make out who it was, your head felt dizzy as you sat there trying to find your breath. “You’re ok, I’ve got you, just breathe, that’s it, deep breath in, that’s it, that’s it.”
Finally it felt like you could finally breathe again, the dizziness finally going as the world around you steadied.
“You’re ok,” the voice said again, causing you to stiffen before your head shot around to see Peter sitting up on the bed, eyes still heavy with sleep as he focused his attention on you.
“Peter?” You gasped, feeling your eyes widen as you struggled to grasp a hold of reality.
You watched Peter’s face turn sympathetic, a sad smile spreading across his lips as he continued to rub your back.
“Yeah, it’s me, it’s Peter.” He told you, keeping his voice soft and low as he spoke.
He watched as you went through a range of emotions before your face crumbled and you started to sob. He gently shifted the two of you so he was resting against the top of the bed and you were laying against his chest, tears soaking his shirt.
Peter continued to talk softly, not saying anything in particular just keeping up a steady stream of words that you could cling to to help ground you back to reality and away from whatever you were dreaming about, Peter having a pretty good guess that it was about the blip.
It felt like hours before you stopped crying, sniffing against Peter’s shirt before you pulled away from him and sat with your legs crossed on the bed, hand darting forward to hold Peter’s.
He smiled at you as best he could with the worry running through him, giving it a squeeze.
“You ok?” He asked quietly.
“I’m sorry,” You told him shakily, sniffing as you blinked back more tears.
“Don’t apologise, you’re fine.” Peter assured you as he brought your hand up to his lips, pressing a lingering kiss to it.
“It was so real, you were gone but,” Here you paused to blink harshly, “my dad was back, Pete, I had my dad back.”
The pain in your chest came back ten times worse as you recalled the dream, recalled the words your dad had said to you.
“I’m so sorry,” Peter said to you as he squeezed your hand again.
You just shook your head, not daring to open your mouth again, knowing that if you did you’d just start crying again. You looked at Peter, a shaky smile making its way onto your face, thanking god he was alive.
It seemed like you couldn’t win, when Peter had died you still had your dad but now you had Peter back and your dad was dead.
Eventually you managed to fully get your breathing under control, managed to blink away all the tears. You felt exhausted now that you had finally calmed down, felt dizzy as the dream felt so real, real enough that it messed with your whole reality.
“Go back to sleep,” you told Peter, watching as he frowned at you. “I’m just gonna head outside for some air.” Peter’s face shifted into understanding as he nodded at you, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“If you need me,” he began but you cut him off with a nod.
“Thank you.” You whispered and quietly made your way out of your bedroom. Once you stepped foot downstairs you paused, your dream leaking back into reality as you remembered seeing your dad standing, waiting for you.
You blinked hard before you grabbed a coat and left the cabin, shivering against the cold air but found it helped. You walked the same trail you had in your dream, feeling empty as you continued to look to the side, expecting to see your dad there smiling over at you.
Your heart ached as you ended up at the lake.
You sat down on the dock, letting your legs dangle over the edge as you looked out into the water. How many times had you sat here with your dad after the blip, just the two of you sitting together in silence and now you sat alone, nothing but his memories keeping you company.
“I dreamt you were alive,” you said quietly, eyes locked onto the water, “it felt so real, you know? Peter was gone and you were alive and I was so crushed, I didn’t think I could ever feel worse than I did when Pete died,” you told the water with a sad chuckle, “and then you just had to be the hero and prove that I could feel ten times worse.”
The silence around you sounded so painfully loud.
“I hate that you did that.” You said through gritted teeth, “I hate that I wasn’t even surprised you did it, hate that you left me here. I got Peter back and I am always going to be grateful for that, everyday of my life, but I need you too.” You sobbed.
“I need you, the world, it doesn’t seem right without you here. I just really miss you, dad. I really hate that Steve used the last of the serum because if I could I’d go back in time and change that day…I’d do anything to change that day.”
It felt nice to talk, even if nobody was listening. It felt like you could lean your head down and it would land on your dad’s shoulder even though you knew it never would again. It had been so long since you’d spoken to him but doing it felt, it felt as right as it could when he couldn't be here with you.
You didn’t know how long you sat outside for but you knew it was long enough for the sky to change from inky blue to golden yellows and soft pinks as the sun rose.
“Here you go,” A voice said, startling you out of your thoughts.
You looked up as Peter sat next to you, holding two mugs in his hands and offering one of them to you. You shot him a grateful smile as you took the hot drink from him and took a small sip.
“How you feeling?” Peter asked softly after a few minutes of silence.
You didn’t have an answer for him, not a good one anyway because there really were no words that could sum up just how bad losing your dad felt.
“I really miss him.” You told him instead because that was the truest thing you could say.
“I miss him too,” Peter told you, “I’m really sorry.”
“He was always going to die saving the world, I always knew that. He was a hero,” You told Peter with a wet laugh, a smile spreading across your face, “He was a hero.”
“Yeah he was.” Peter said quietly, looking out at the water as you lowered your head onto his shoulder. Peter smiled down at you, pressing a soft kiss to your hair as he wrapped an arm around your waist.
“I’m glad you’re alive.” You told him, voice so soft he barely caught it but the words had him huffing out a laugh.
“Me too, Y/N/N, and I have Mr Stark to thank for that.” Peter had sworn long ago to do anything and everything he could to make Tony proud but since coming back he did everything he could to keep that promise, including keeping you safe.
The two of you sat outside for a long time, heavy hearts as memories played in your heads but you weren’t alone and you knew you couldn’t lose Peter, not again, because not having your dad around was, words couldn’t describe how devastating that was, but losing them both, you didn’t think you’d survive it.
“I love you,” You told him, breaking the silence that had settled between the two of you.
“I love you too, Y/N/N,” Peter whispered back, his hand taking your chin and guiding you up to his lips where he pressed a soft kiss upon yours, “so much.”
No, you knew you wouldn’t survive losing Peter again and you vowed to do everything you could so that you never had to live in a world where you didn’t have Peter Parker in your life.

Febuwhump Prompt - Spiked Drink
Prompt - ‘All you have to do is believe in your senses, just do that.’
You were in desperate need of a break. It felt like you had been staring at the same four walls of the library for weeks now, you’d hardly seen your friends, seen even less of your boyfriend and were relieved that finals were finally over.
The first weekend after finals were done found you in your dorm, adding the finishing touches to yourself before you grabbed your keys and phone and made your way out of the room with your friends ready to celebrate one of their birthdays.
Peter had been invited but had declined, saying he still had his own studies. You’d felt put out by that, not having seen him properly for two or so weeks but knew school came first.
The club was loud and packed as your group walked in, making your way to the bar and ordering a few drinks so none of you had to queue up again before making quick work of them all. It wasn’t long before you were on the dance floor with them, rolling your eyes and smacking off a guy who wrapped his arms around your waist.
You glanced back and watched him glare at you, even with the alcohol in your system something about him set your senses on edge but you shrugged it off as your friend held another drink out for you.
You couldn’t say for sure just how long you stayed on the dance floor, more drinks being pushed into your hand without you even checking who was handing them to you, but eventually you felt light headed.
You figured it was a mix of the flashing lights, alcohol and loud music so headed to the bar and slurred out a request for some water. By the time you’d drained the cup you turned around, back to the dance floor, and tried to find your friends but couldn’t see any of them with the lights and fog.
You swayed dangerously, grabbing hold of the bar as you felt sick build up in your stomach, burning your throat and with a glance at the line for the bathroom you steadied yourself before stumbling out of the front door, sighing in relief at the fresh air.
The bouncer at the door caught you as you wobbled again, held you up as you giggled and took your shoes off blaming your lack of balance on them before walking further away from the club, glad to have a moment to yourself.
You let your eyes fall closed and leaned your head back against a brick wall, begging the world to stop spinning and missing the guy who walked over to you and pulled you forward, far enough so that he could wrap his arm around your shoulder, tugging you into his chest.
You frowned as you pried your eyes open, though it was difficult as they felt so heavy but you managed and saw a man you’d only seen once before, it was the man from back in the club, the one who had tried to dance with you but got shrugged off instead.
You tried pushing against his chest but couldn’t lift your arms as they suddenly felt like weights against your side and you could only groan as the man pulled you along.
“Hey, she ok?” You heard somebody ask and saw the bouncer who had held you up.
“Think she’s had too much to drink,” The guy told him, an easy, charming smile making its way onto his face as he pulled you closer to him, “She’s my girlfriend, I’ll see that she gets home safe.”
You looked at the bouncer through half lidded eyes, in your head you were screaming at him, begging and pleading with him to get you away from the stranger. In your head you were pushing away from the man and running far away.
All the bouncer saw was a concerned boyfriend who was taking his girlfriend home after one too many. So with a smile he bid them goodnight and went back to his post.
“Come along, darlin’.” He said into your ear causing you to whine, begging for somebody to help you.
The man led you away, far enough so that the music from the nightclub couldn’t be heard before he roughly shoved you into an empty alleyway, pinning you up against the wall like it was the easiest thing in the world.
In your head you were screaming at him, clawing at his face but in reality your head lulled back to hit the wall as your vocal cords became useless and your hands lay limp at your side.
Somewhere in the distance a man sat on a rooftop, legs thrown over the edge as he chewed on a hotdog, ears honing in on anybody needing trouble but it seemed like it was a quiet night tonight.
He sat up straighter and tilted his head as he listened, trying to determine whether something was wrong or if it was just a drunk couple taking advantage of a dark alleyway. He heard no other sound but something was telling him that whatever was happening wasn’t right, his spidey senses were screaming at him to at least check it out.
He stood up and flung himself off the roof top, chewing the last of his hot dog as he swung the few blocks over, landing with an inaudible thud before creeping closer to the alley, not wanting to get caught if it was just a couple.
It was dark out but he’d recognise you anywhere, he watched as a guy kissed your neck, letting his hands trail the length of your body and you stood there, motionless. Peter paused for a moment, his blood running cold before he jumped into action.
“She looks a little drunk for that, don’t you think man?” Peter asked, watching as the man startled and moved away from you an inch causing you to sway forward dangerously but the man caught you, turning on the boyfriend act and honestly if Peter didn’t know you, if he wasn’t your boyfriend then he might have actually believed this guy.
“Hey we’re not hurting anyone, she just gets a little frisky when she’s had a drink.” The guy grinned.
“Right, right, my bad,” He said, holding his hands up and watching as the man nodded at him, “one more thing though,” Peter said, taking a step closer to the man before drawing his fist back and letting it connect with the guys face, using enough strength to send him flying to the opposite wall and hitting it with a painful crack before the slumped down on the floor, Peter webbing him up quickly.
Peter caught you just before you could fall, wrapping his arms around your waist and letting his forehead rest on top of your head. Peter smiled sadly as you whined against him, obviously trying to push him away but not doing more than swaying gently.
“You’re ok, baby,” Peter murmured, “I got you, let’s get you home.”
Your dorm was thankfully only a few blocks away and Peter pulled your keys out, unlocking the door as he guided you into the room before leading you over to the bed and setting you down as gently as he could, watching as you looked up at him with unseeing eyes.
“You’re alright, yeah, I got you Y/N/N,” Peter let all thoughts of secret identities go out of the window as he took his mask off and lay next to you, pulling you into his arms and bringing you in close.
“Go to sleep, Y/N, nobody can hurt you, I promise.” Peter continued whispering against your hair, whispered praise, whispered soft reassurances and nonsense words and kept talking well after you’d fallen asleep.
It took great effort to pull himself out of your bed but he managed it, pulling the suit off and changing into a pair of his sweatpants he pulled out of your closet, convinced more than half of his closet was in your own.
He made sure the door was locked and pulled the trash can close to the bed in case you needed it, he also grabbed a box of pills and filled a glass of water up, placing it on the nightstand before he crawled back into bed with you, tucking you against his chest and holding you close, falling asleep without meaning to.
Peter woke up the next morning when he heard a groan followed by the sound of you throwing up. He sat up with a grimace, seeing you leant over the bed and making use of the trash can he had left there.
You almost smiled as you felt a hand rub comfortingly up and down your back as Peter rested his forehead on your shoulder, placing a soft kiss to the skin. You didn’t know how long you spent being sick but eventually you sat up, Peter wiping your face on the blanket before he reached over to grab the glass of water, holding it to your lips.
You drank it gratefully and drank some more with the pills he had given you, hoping they would settle both the queasiness in your stomach and the pounding in your head.
“Can I get you anything else?” Peter murmured softly as you curled up against his chest with a shake of your head.
“Thank you,” You croaked out and relaxed as he kissed your head. “What happened? What are you doing here?”
Peter stilled for a second before he went back to rubbing your back. You didn’t remember last night, you didn’t remember being spiked…you didn’t remember he was Spider-Man.
“You called me, remember?” Peter lied, feeling bad but it was better than the truth. “Said some guy had been creeping you out at the club, you must have gotten separated from the girls and he spiked your drink.”
Peter hugged you close as you squeezed your eyes shut but some tears escaped, falling onto his chest.
“You’re ok, I got to you in time, you’re safe, I got you.” Peter told you softly, kissing your head again as he murmured more assurances as you nodded into his chest, taking a deep breath after a few minutes before relaxing in his hold.
“Thank you.” You murmured tiredly, letting your hand trace his chest, eyes feeling heavy again as you let them shut.
“You never have to thank me,” Peter told you, just as quiet as your words have been but they held so much honesty that you couldn’t help but smile, “Never.”
Peter watched as you fell asleep again, running his fingers up and down your spine as he swore to himself he would never let you go through this again, glad he’d trusted his senses and got to you before anything terrible happened.

Febuwhump Prompt - Can't Go Home
Prompt - ‘Just you and me.’
You sat frozen in your apartment, eyes trained on the television screen in front of you that broadcasted Peter’s secret to the world, branding him a murderer, all because of Mysterio. You had no idea just how long you sat there, eyes wide and you had every intention of calling Peter but you couldn’t move. It was the sound of your apartment door being kicked open that startled you out of your frozen state, face shooting over to the side as a group of men came in and hauled you up by your upper arms, fear spreading through you as you were placed in a police car and taken to the station.
You arrived and were led to a reception with MJ, Ned and May before being pulled along through the station, eyes widening as you saw Peter sat at a table, two men questioning him.
It was like time wasn’t real as you were pushed into your own seat and left alone, scared and panicking.
Two men walked into the room and you sat up straighter in your seat, watching as they shared a smile, one of them sat opposite you whilst the other paced behind him.
“Hi there,” The man sat down said to you, softening his expression, “Sorry about the wait.” He waited for you to respond but silence filled the room. “I know you must be so scared right now, finding out your boyfriend is Spider-Man.” Again, no response, no twitching, no shifting…nothing.
You were scared but you weren’t about to give them any information that would help build a case against Peter or yourself.
“Let’s cut the quiet act, huh,” The guy standing up said, leaning over you in an intimidating manner…good cop, bad cop then. “We know you knew Peter was Spider-Man and you’re a smart kid, set up for your choice of school, how do you think this is going to look for you?”
“You want me to talk?” You finally said, watching them share another smile as the guy in the seat leaned forward and picked up his pen whilst the other man backed off, turning his smile to you. “I want a lawyer.”
You watched as both their smiles fell and twin glares were shot at you but you just smiled back at them.
“You think any lawyer worth a damn is going to take this case?” The man stood up chuckled, “I hate to break it to you but you’re on your own.”
“If this goes to trial it’ll be the biggest case since the Castle trials, bet those cops didn’t think any lawyer would take that case either.” You smirked and sat back in your seat, knowing they had nothing on you. “Maybe I’ll give those guys a call, huh?”
You watched as they shared a look before the door opened and they were pulled out leaving you alone again causing you to slump in your seat, though the overall fear had gone there was still worry flooding your system as you thought about Peter.
“Looks like you won’t be needing that number after all,” The man said as he stood by the door gesturing for you to walk out, “You’re free to go.”
You huffed out a laugh as you walked past him and headed to where the others were sitting in the reception area, the only person missing was Peter.
“Is he ok?” You asked as you joined them, watching as they all looked up at you.
“We haven’t seen him, Happy called a pair of lawyers that went in not too long ago.” MJ told you as May sniffed.
“Shit,” You cursed as you sat down heavily in the seat, staring straight ahead.
You let May hug Peter first when he was led out before smiling as he turned to you. No words were exchanged as he looked at you with wide, watery eyes, walking over and wrapping his arms around you tightly pulling you against him. You sniffed as you hugged him back, not knowing what to say.
“At least they used a good picture.” Happy said with a grimace as you, him, Peter and May sat in their apartment, you sitting next to Peter.
“I have some good news, Peter,” The lawyer, Matt Murdock said and you wished the DODC guy was here so you could rub it in his face that the lawyer who took Frank Castle’s case was here taking Peter’s, just like you’d threatened. “I don’t believe any of the charges against you are going to stick.”
A collective sigh of relief went around the room and you all smiled and relaxed for the first time since the news hit.
“Oh my god,” Peter said, smiling over at you before turning back to Matt, “Really? Thank you so much, Mr Murdock, really, that’s amazing.”
“You’re welcome.” Matt said with a smile of his own. You listened as he explained that Happy wasn’t quite so lucky what with the missing Stark tech.
“I need a lawyer because I’m, I’m under investigation?” Happy stuttered out causing you to smile sympathetically over at him, “You said there’s no charges - I can say under advisement of council I refuse to answer the question,” He trailed off inaudibly as he spiralled into a panic.
“Calm down,” May told him before she pointed to Matt, “Let’s see what he has to say.”
“You’re gonna need a really good lawyer.” Matt told him honestly.
Before anybody could say anything else you startled as a brick was thrown through the window, watching with wide eyes as the blind lawyer caught it without hesitation before furrowing your brows as you looked from the brick to him, seeing Peter do the same.
“How did you do that?” You asked him as Peter took the brick out of his hand, looking at it like it could give him the answer to your question.
“I’m a really good lawyer.” Matt smiled and gave no further explanation.
“We’re gonna need a safer place to live.” May said and it wasn’t long before the Parker’s had packed up and were ready to head to Happy’s apartment.
“You should come,” Peter said, “I don’t like the thought of you on your own.”
“I’ll be fine.” You promised him, leaning up to press a soft kiss against his lips, smiling into it as his hand came up to cup your cheek. “Stay safe.”
“You too,” He said before climbing into the car with May and Happy, you raising a hand as they drove away before turning in the direction of your house.
The following days passed in a blur of rejection letters, cameras being shoved in your face, people at school all wanting as many details as they could get and anger, sadness and worry. Peter and you talked on the phone at nights but it was strained, the weight of the world crushing his shoulders.
You smiled at Ned and MJ who were waiting outside of the Sanctum before you entered, your eyes immediately locking on Peter who stepped forward and wrapped you in his arms, kissing the top of your head.
“I can’t believe I’m in the Sanctum Sanctorum.” You heard Ned say happily.
“Neither can I.” Strange muttered to himself, causing you to chuckle into Peter’s chest before you pulled away from him.
“I’m sorry for dragging you all into this,” Peter apologised looking from Ned and MJ and then to you, eyes wide and apologetic.
“Happy to help.” You assured him, smiling softly at him with a nod as the other two agreed with you.
“You don’t have to apologise.” MJ told him.
“Yeah man, no worries,” Ned said, “Hey, how did the bad guys even get here?”
“He screwed up a spell trying to get you into college.” Strange said before Peter had a chance to answer, causing your eyebrows furrowed together.
“What?” You all asked.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s not important,” Peter brushed it off before smiling, “Let’s just focus on the good news-”
“No, let's focus on the bad news because as of now you have detained exactly zero multiverse trespassers.” Strange commanded you all to get to work and you smiled as MJ stepped forward and put the man in his place before Peter led you down to the undercroft.
You watched as MJ and Ned began looking around the room as you walked further into it, listening to Peter apologise again as you looked at a man with robotic arms trapped behind a glass wall.
He saw you looking and smiled over at you, watching as you tilted your head and took another step closer until you were in front of the cell.
“And just who are you, dear?” He asked as Peter spoke in the distance.
“Guys, about this whole spell thing-” He began but MJ cut him off.
“It’s ok, you were just trying to fix things, maybe just run it past us next time.” She chuckled, causing him to laugh nervously before he nodded and looked past her and over to you.
MJ followed his gaze and pointed over in your direction, “The undercroft?”
“We’re here to help Peter.” You told the man, looking at the metal arms in interest.
“Hey man, I’m sorry,” Peter called, causing you to flinch away from the man as you looked back at Peter, “what was your name again?”
“Doctor Otto Octavius.” He said, causing you to look back at him with a raised eyebrow.
“I think he meant your real name.” You smiled at him, suppressing a chuckle as the others behind you laughed.
“Yeah man, seriously, your real name.” Peter confirmed, smiling over at you.
Otto just rolled his eyes and you made your way back up to join MJ, Ned and Peter, looking over at Ned who called you all over about a disturbance relating to a monster flying through the air.
“That has to be the guy right?” Peter said looking up at you causing you to shrug and nod at the same time before looking over at Otto.
“That’s impossible.” He said softly, more to himself than to the room.
“What’d you mean impossible?” You asked him, taking a step over to him again.
“You know him, don’t you?” Peter asked from your side.
“Norman Osborn, brilliant scientist, but he was greedy, misguided.” The man said.
“I gotta go then, where am I going?” Peter asked turning back to Ned after Otto’s outburst but you continued looking at the man trapped behind the glass.
“It can’t be him.” He told you, causing you to frown, tilting your head.
“Why can’t it be Norman?” You asked.
“Because Norman Osborn died years ago, so either we saw someone else or you’re flying out into the darkness to find a ghost.” He said coldly, your heart stuttering as you swallowed against the sudden lump in your throat, turning to Peter with scared eyes.
“You can’t go,” you told him as he prepared to leave.
“Y/N, I am the only person who can stop these guys,” He said turning to you and placing his hands on your upper arms, watching as you shook your head at him, “Y/N, baby, I gotta do this, I can’t have people get hurt because of me.”
You took a deep breath before nodding and turning away.
“Hey,” He said softly, stepping closer to you and leaning down to press a soft kiss against your lips, “I’ll be fine.” He promised though you knew he had no control over that, didn’t know who he was dealing with or how dangerous they were but still you nodded and forced a smile on your face as he turned to leave.
Once he was gone you took a deep breath and let the smile fall off your face as you turned back to Otto.
“How dangerous is he? Norman Osbourn.” You asked him and watched as he contemplated your question.
“He will stop at nothing to get what he wants, like I said,” He told you, watching as you walked up to the glass. “He was brilliant, brilliant but dangerously greedy. I hope your Spider-Man can stop him.” He said, looking down at you as you tried your best to blink back tears as you heard Ned and MJ talking to Peter over the phone.
“Me too.” You said, dread pooling in your stomach.
You listened anxiously, watching the scene play out on the laptop, watching as a man used the electricity like it was a part of him, easily drawing power from it as Peter’s webs failed to do anything. You watched the man send electricity down to Peter, tears in your eyes as you hand covered your mouth, listening to Ned and MJ shout advice at Peter.
The last thing you saw before the camera cut out was a blast of electricity hitting Peter.
“Oh no, no, what happened? Peter, Peter?” MJ said as you shook your head and moved away from the laptop and over to the ledge to look at the glass cells.
“Who is that?” You snapped at Otto but one look at his confused face had more anxiety running through you as you choked back a sob.
“I don’t know,” He told you quietly, “I’ve never heard of anything like that.”
You watched as a man appeared in one of the glass cells, watched as Otto waved over to him.
“Who are you?” You asked him but before he could answer something appeared in the other cell. He looked like a person but where flesh was meant to be was only sand.
“What is this?” He asked and you looked over to MJ and Ned who shrugged.
“Connors?” The first guy said looking over at the lizard thing.
“You know him?” You asked, looking between the two just as Otto asked, “You know this creature?”
“No, no he’s not a creature, he’s a man.” You shot a doubtful look at the lizard as Ned spoke behind you.
“Whoa, they're from the same universe.”
“Doctor Curt Connors, he was a scientist at Oscorp when I worked there. A brilliant scientist until he turned himself into a lizard. Then he tried to turn the whole city into lizards, it was crazy.”
“Yeah, we’re hearing a lot about brilliant but crazy scientists today.” You scoffed, giving the lizard a side glance.
The two went back and forth as you looked between them and shook your head turning back to the only two people in the room from your universe.
“Have you got a hold of Peter yet?” You asked and Ned shook his head.
“Still working on it.” He told you, clicking away at the keyboard.
“Where are we?” The sandman asked.
“A wizard’s dungeon.” MJ told them, causing you to shoot her a look. “There’s no real way to sugar coat it.”
“I want more of that new energy.” The man said and you watched as the lights in the room dimmed.
“Peter!” MJ exclaimed, causing your head to shoot around as you made your way back over to Ned.
“Are you ok?” You asked before he had the chance to say anything.
“I’m fine,” He told you, “have those guys come through yet?”
“Yeah, yeah, they’re all here.” You told him, feeling your shoulders drop from hearing his voice.
“Good, listen, I’m just gonna stay here for a bit, clean up some of this mess.” He told you all and after a few more words the line went dead as you looked back over to the other worldly beings.
“Um guys,” Your head snapped around as Peter’s voice sounded through the room, another man with him, “This is Mr Osborn-”
“Doctor,” The man cut him off with a point of his finger.
“Sorry Doctor Osborn. These are my friends Ned, MJ and Y/N.” Peter introduced you all.
“It’s nice to meet you, Doctor Osborn.” You said softly, noticing the slightly dazed expression on his face.
“Mary Jane?” He said, looking straight at MJ causing you to raise an eyebrow between them before looking at Peter who shrugged.
“It’s Michelle Jones, actually.” She told him in confusion.
The man stepped closer into the room looking around as Ned asked if you thought there were other hims out there causing you to let out a laugh.
You watched Norman walk down and pause by Otto’s cell, looking into it questioningly.
“Octavius?” He asked and you all looked as Otto turned around.
“Osborn?”
You watched as Otto told Norman about his death, watched Norman shake his head in disbelief as Peter interjected, questioning Otto’s words.
“They both died.” The sand guy said, causing you all to look at him, “fighting Spider-Man.” He finished and you watched as Peter’s eyes widened. You watched as all of them realised their last memories were of fighting Spider-Man before waking up here.
Before anyone could say anything else Strange magicked himself into the room and sent a confused and scared Norman Osborn into his own cell before he explained the box he held that would send the others back to their universes.
“Strange, we can't send them back.” Peter said, causing you to look at him in confusion, you felt back for them, you really did, but you knew they couldn’t stay here. “They're gonna die.”
“It’s their fate.” Strange told him coldly. “Their sacrifice means infinitely more than their lives.”
Your eyes widened at the cruel statement as you looked back at the cells, seeing the fear written across their faces.
“I’m sorry, kid.” Strange said, no hint of sympathy in his words.
“Strange-” You began but he cut you off.
“It’s their fate,” He repeated, “they were never supposed to be here. They are destined to die at the hands of Spider-Man.”
You watched as Peter held back tears, took his hand in yours and squeezed it, him squeezing back as he looked at Strange, pleading with him not to do this. Strange began his spell, Norman begging Peter who tightened his hand around yours before he webbed the box away from Strange, you and MJ practically pushing him out the door as you stood between him and Strange.
Not long passed before Peter stumbled into the room through a golden portal, pulling the mask off as you steadied him with your arms on his biceps before Peter pulled you into a hug, grinning from ear to ear.
“I just had a fight with Doctor Strange and totally won!” He exclaimed, pulling back to smile down at you. “Look, I stole his ring thing!” He said as Ned snatched it away from him and put it on, holding his hand up to you causing you to laugh.
“You could have just left us to die, why didn’t you?” Otto asked, stepping forward.
“That’s not who Peter Parker is.” You told them man, watching as Peter’s grin faded into a soft smile.
Peter explained how he could try and help them, try to change their fate.
“I can help you.” Norman told him, cutting him off, “You know, I’m something of a scientist myself. Octavius can tell you what I can do.”
“I have it all under control.” Peter told them before he stepped over to you, MJ and Ned asking what the hell they were going to do with the box.
“We need to find somewhere safe for it right? MJ asked, causing you all to nod before Peter pushed the magic box into your hands.
“What are you doing?” You asked, not taking it off him.
“”If something happens, I’ll text you and you send them all back.” Peter told you, nodding as he looked into your eyes and seeing nothing but fear.
“Peter, I, I can’t.” You told him shakily and he reached one hand up to cup your cheek.
“Yes, you can, you got this.” He smiled before pulling you in for a quick kiss. “You got this.”
You nodded and took the box off him, holding it carefully and looking down at it like you had just been passed a bomb.
Peter pulled you into one more kiss, you whispering for him to be careful before you left the Sanctum with MJ and Ned.
You watched in Ned’s living room, listened with tears falling down your face at the news of Aunt May’s death, wiping your eyes hating that you had no idea where Peter was right now. You pushed yourself out of the chair angrily but didn’t go far, pacing the length of the room.
“Should we press it?” MJ asked, “I know he told us to wait but-”
“Press it.” You told her, voice harsh and cold.
“But Peter hasn’t texted, I just, I just wish we could see him.” Your head snapped to the side at the spark that appeared at his words.
“Ned,” You said, not taking your eyes off the empty space.
“Yeah?” He said.
“Do that again.” MJ told him, taking the words right out of your mouth.
“Yeah,” Ned repeated, “I just wish we could see him.”
You gasped as the portal began to form, Ned repeating the words a few more times before it fully appeared before you, Spider-Man standing off in the distance. You took a step forward as Spider-Man took a step towards the portal, tilting your head as you watched him get closer, looking at his suit with furrowed eyebrows.
“Is that him?” MJ asked.
“Yeah, yeah. It has to be.” He told her and they both began calling for the man with smiles on their faces.
“That’s not Peter.” You said softly, shaking your head, causing Ned and MJ to turn to you just before Spider-Man walked through the portal.
“Hi, Hi,” Spider-Man said as Ned’s grandmother screamed, “No, no, no, it’s ok. I’m a nice guy.” It wasn’t Peter’s suit, it wasn't Peter’s voice and you took a step back as the man pulled his mask off revealing a stranger.
“Who are you?” You asked him with watery eyes and a cold tone.
The stranger raised his hands non threateningly as he took a step towards you but stopped as you stepped away.
“I’m Peter Parker,” He told you slowly and calmly, “I am Spider-Man in my world, but then yesterday I was, I was just here.”
You shook your head as you turned away, the heel of your hands digging into your eyes as you tried to force the tears away, missing Peter’s look of concern.
Peter began to talk and MJ and Ned spoke to him as you could do nothing, all you wanted was your Peter.
You turned around in time to see MJ throw a piece of bread at the man, watched him stick to the ceiling, watched as he crawled around. You couldn’t argue that he was a Peter Parker but he wasn’t yours.
“We good?” Peter asked and MJ nodded. “Are you ok?” He asked you softly and you shook your head, nose scrunching as you tried to push back more tears.
“Do it again.” You said and Peter raised an eyebrow at you.
“I think I just proved who I was.” He smiled softly at you but you shook your head, not taking your eyes of Peter.
“Ned, do it again.” You pleaded, “find my Peter.”
Peter’s eyes widened at your words as he looked at your watery eyes.
“I’m sorry.” He told you as Ned agreed and lifted his hands up, repeating the words from earlier.
You turned around to watch another portal open, a sob leaving your lips as a random guy walked through it in confusion. Peter looked from the guy and back over to you, placing a hand on your shoulder comfortingly.
“Hello,” the man said, “I hope it’s okay, I just came through this…oh it just closed.”
“You’re Peter?” MJ asked.
“Yeah Peter Parker.” He said and you shook your head again, watching as the two Peter’s webbed each other before smiling.
“This might sound weird,” The regularly dressed Peter said, “but I’ve been trying to find your friend ever since I got here, I just have the sense that he, um, that he needs my help.”
“Our help.” The other one said.
“He does.” You told them shakily causing everyone to look at you, “He really does.”
“We don’t know where he is though.” Ned told them, looking between the two Peter’s.
“Right now, we’re all he has left.” MJ said and you turned away, going to leave the room before the Peter in the suit stopped you with a gentle hand on your shoulders, crouching down slightly so he was eye to eye with you.
“We’re gonna help him, I promise.” Peter told you softly, so softly the others in the room had to strain to hear the words. You looked at him for a moment before you sniffed and nodded, wiping the tears that had fallen.
“Is there some place that he might go that has meaning to him?” Regularly dressed Peter asked softly as the Peter next to you stood up straight, staying by your side and offering a comforting presence. “Like a place he would just go to-”
“Get away from everything?” The suited Peter finished.
“For me it was the top of the Chrysler Building.” Regular Peter said with a fond smile.
“Empire State,” suited Peter said with a grin, “better view. What about your Peter, does he have a place?” He asked you softly, looking down at you with a smile as you nodded up at him, thinking back to the rooftop you’d spent countless hours atop of. When the world got too much for either of you and you just needed to take a break, the fresh air around you as you lay in each other’s arms, sometimes talking softly to each other, sometimes no words were needed as you sat in silence and looked up at the stars.
“Yeah,” You said softly, voice barely above a whisper, “Yeah, we have a place.” You said, missing how the Peter’s both smiled at ‘we’ rather than just Peter having a place.
It didn’t take long to make your way up to the roof, the two Peter’s hanging back and giving you three a moment alone with your Peter. You smiled shakily as you saw him sat alone, not moving as your footsteps sounded in the silence.
You made your way over to him, kneeling down and smiling shakily as he turned and buried his face into your chest, tears immediately falling from his eyes as you held him close, placing soft kisses to his hair. No words could be said as he cried, nothing could make it better.
MJ and Ned knelt down too, all three of you hugging Peter hoping to provide a little bit of comfort to the broken man.
“I’m so sorry,” You whispered, voice barely audible as you pulled away. “Pete, there’s some people, some people who want to see you.”
“What?” He asked but you just shook your head, taking his hand in yours and helping him stand up, wrapping your arm around his waist to steady him before he pushed away from your hold at seeing the two other Spider-Men perched on the roof.
Peter breathed heavily as they jumped down stopping them as he exclaimed, holding a hand up to them, both of the Peter’s raising their hands non threateningly.
“Sorry about May,” Regular Peter said.
“Yeah, sorry,” Suited Peter told him, going on to say how he understood but Peter took a step back, shaking his head as he spoke.
“Please don’t,” He said tearfully, “Don’t stand there and say you know what I’m going through.”
“Okay,” Suited Peter said softly, nodding his head.
“She’s dead and it’s all my fault.” Peter said, causing your eyes to widen as you gently took a step forward but didn’t say anything, trusting the other Peter’s to deal with this situation as gently as they could despite every fibre of your being telling you to take Peter and disappear until Strange came back, let him deal with it. “She died for nothing, so I’m gonna do what I should have done in the first place.” He said, making a move for the box.
“Peter-” Regularly dressed Peter said but your Peter cut him off.
“You’re all going home,” He said tiredly, “You don’t belong here. Those other guys are all from your world, so you deal with it, if you kill them, that’s on you, not me. I don’t care anymore. I’m done.”
You hated hearing Peter sound so defeated, you thought you’d seen him at his worst, all those years back when you were kids attending Ben’s funeral, not too long ago after he’d attended Tony’s funeral…you thought that was his rock bottom but losing May, you didn’t know if Peter could survive another loss.
MJ held the box away from Peter as regularly dressed Peter told your Peter about losing his uncle and suited Peter spoke about losing his girlfriend, they spoke about how they couldn’t save them. Suited Peter spoke of the guilt, of how he could never forgive himself and your Peter reached back to take your hand in his, assuring himself that one of the few people he had left in the world was still here.
“But I carried on, tried to keep going, tried to keep being the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, because she would’ve wanted that but at some point I stopped throwing my punches, I got bitter, I got rageful.” Your heart ached at suited Peter’s words, squeezing Peter’s hand tightly as you listened to his story. “And I just, I don’t want you to end up…like me.” He forced out tearfully.
“I wanna kill him,” Your Peter confessed, “I wanna tear him apart. I can still hear her voice in my head, even after she was hurt, she said that we did the right thing. Said that with great power-”
“Comes great responsibility.” Regularly dressed Peter finished and suited Peter nodded.
“What?” Peter said, “How do you know that?”
“Uncle Ben said it-” suited Peter said.
“The day he died.” You heard Peter take a shaky breath, “Maybe she didn’t die for nothing.”
You all made your way down to the science lab as they handed tasks out, suited Peter taking the serum for Connor’s, regularly dressed Peter offering to deal with Osborn. You watched Peter freeze, heard the other Peter they had to save them all and watched Peter nod.
“That’s what we do.” He said and you smiled.
Peter looked up and saw you watching the scene play out with a soft smile, raising a questioning eyebrow over at you but you just shook your head.
“How can I help?”
You and Peter got to work, you measuring different chemicals and running diagnostics, working easily together, gaining some sense of normality.
“How you doing?” You asked him softly as you waited for the diagnosis to be completed.
“I’m-” He began but then shook his head, “I’m tired, Y/N/N, I’m really tired.”
“We’ll cure them and once they're gone we’ll take a break, yeah? Just you and me, remember that weekend away we’ve been dreaming about, we’ll go.” You smiled at him watching as he shakily nodded back and leaned close to you, resting his forehead against yours.
“That sounds perfect.” He whispered, content to just stay this close to you forever and swore he wouldn’t lose you too, he’d lost too many people, he didn’t even know if he’d survive losing May, focusing on the cures rather than her death but losing you as well…he knew he wouldn’t recover from that.
“I’m so sorry I dragged you into this mess,” He apologised, “You deserve so much better, I ruined everything for you.”
“Hey, you ruined nothing, knowing you has been the best part of my life. We’re gonna be ok, it’s you and me, right?” You asked softly, taking his hands in yours.
“You and me.” He whispered and the two of you were so absorbed in one another you missed the sad smile suited Peter shot you both as memories of Gwen flashed through his head.
Peter and you got back to work, you moving around to hear the other two Peter’s talking softly about relationships. Suited Peter clearly still in pain over the girl he lost, Gwen you remind yourself.
“Me and MJ,” You heard regularly dressed Peter say and your head snapped around as you looked over at him. “My MJ.” He chuckled.
“Peter!” Ned called, causing you to look over at him, thoughts of Peter and MJ being pushed out of your head.
Peter pressed his lips against yours, the kiss passionate and conveying everything words couldn’t say before you pulled away from each other.
“Be safe.” You whispered.
“You too.” He gave you one last kiss before he headed through the portal.
“Heads up, Y/N/N!” Peter said, throwing the magic box to you and MJ told Ned to close the portal but try as he might he couldn’t do it.
“Ned, close the portal.” You snapped, anxious as you saw the scene playing out before you, watching the three Spider-Man holding up worse than you’d thought.
“I’m trying!” He snapped back, his own nerves high as he watched sand rise as Spider-Men were flung around widely.
“Ned,” you started but watched as the three Peter’s swung in sync with each other, seemingly back on track and smiled.
“Um Ned,” MJ began, trailing off as she looked at the lizard running towards you.
“Now would be a really good time to close it.” You finished for her, eyes widening in fear as the lizard got closer. “Run!” You yelled and all three of you took off, Peter swinging in as you ran through the portal clutching the box close to your chest and immediately lost Ned and MJ as you kept running, knowing if any of the others saw you then you were done for, the box making you target number one, taking priority over any of the Peter’s.
You kept running as the lizard followed close behind you only to be stopped by one of the magic portals. You sighed in relief but kept running, knowing you needed to hide as best you could. You looked across the statue and saw Doctor Strange appear and hoped Peter could convince him he was doing well.
You could hear Peter explaining the other Peter’s to Doctor Strange as you came to a stop next to them, Strange magicking the box from you just as the Green Goblin’s voice rang through the sky.
“Can the Spider-Man come out to play?”
You watched all three Peter’s eyes widen, noticing something you didn’t before something exploded, sending you flying from the top of the Statue of Liberty, fear flooding your system as you screamed, Peter’s head snapped around to see you fall.
He leapt into action, the only thought in his head was that he couldn’t lose you, not you. You watched as Peter appeared above you, relief flooding your system as you realised he was going to save you before he was blasted to the side by the Goblin’s glider.
You managed to pant a breath of absolute terror as your eyes fell closed, more scared than you’d ever been in your life.
Peter three saw it happen, it felt like slow motion as he shook his head, yelling out a ‘no’ as he dove off the statue.
No way was he going to let his brother go through the same pain he went through, no way was he not going to catch you.
He leapt and pulled you into his arms, feeling you wrap yours around his neck, holding onto him with a death grip but it was alright because he was holding you just as tightly, the two of you stood there with tears in your eyes and panting for breath as you looked at him with wide eyes.
“Are you ok?” He asked you shakily, swallowing the lump in his throat.
“Yeah, I’m ok,” You nodded just as shakily, “Are you ok?” You asked, looking at his watery eyes and quivering lip.
Peter couldn’t talk, just scrunched his face as he tried to hold back tears because he’d caught you and your Peter would never, never have to go through what he had. Losing Gwen had…you were safe and Peter would never have to experience that feeling because it really was a different type of pain, a different type of loss, your whole world taken from you because you had been too late.
Peter held you tighter before he placed you down softly, smiling as you placed a hand on his bicep and gave it a squeeze.
“You saved me, thank you.” A tear made its way down your face and Peter gently wiped it away before he turned to look up.
He nodded a few times, trying to get some words out before he finally cleared his throat.
“You’re ok,” He whispered, more to himself than you but you nodded anyway, “I should get back.” He said and gestured upwards.
You nodded at him, tightening your grip on his arm to hold him in place for a second as you leaned up to kiss his cheek.
“Thank you.” You whispered softly and Peter barely suppressed a sob as he nodded down at you.
“You're welcome.” He whispered back before he took off swinging.
You watched as the sky turned purple, looking closer it looked like cracks in the sky before orange magic shot towards them. You desperately looked around for your Peter but couldn’t see anything until you saw the Goblin’s glider land in the fallen shield.
“Ned!” You heard MJ shout and made your way around to them, watching them hug before Ned spotted you.
“Y/N!” He called in relief the three of you hugging each other before you pulled away.
“Stay here.” You told them before taking off running, ignoring their shouts as you started to make your way down to where he was.
“Y/N!” You heard Peter call desperately.
“She’s fine!” MJ shouted down to him, causing him to let out a relieved breath because losing you, it just wasn’t an option.
You ran as fast as you could, panting for breath as you finally made it down to ground level, seeing the shield half in the water and watching in fear as Peter and the Goblin fought each other, Peter not pulling any punches but you couldn’t find a way to get onto the shield.
“Hey,” The Peter who saved you said, landing next to you softly as you both watched Peter pick up the glider and lift it over his head, bringing it down on top of the Goblin but was stopped by the other Spider-Man. “Need a lift?” He asked, both of you watching as the glider was put down and Peter wrapped his arms around you again, swinging you both onto the shield softly.
Both of you stood still as the other Peter was stabbed by the Goblin, mouths falling opened as he fell to the floor, listening to the Goblin blame Peter for May’s death and you felt your blood boil but the Peter who saved you whispered your name, you turning in time to watch him throw to cure over to your Peter who didn’t hesitate to stab it into the Goblin’s neck.
“He’s gonna need you,” Peter whispered softly to you and you nodded, continuing to watch the scene unfold before you made your way over with Peter.
“Peter!” You called softly and he turned around, relief flooding his face as you ran into his arms, knocking him over with the force but he knelt and held you up, cupping the back of your head as you sobbed, Peter smiling over because he’d saved you, he’d made that moment possible.
“Whoa, is that happening or am I dying?” You and your Peter looked to the stabbed Peter, following his gaze to the cracks in the sky with people starting to come through and you held Peter tighter in fear.
“I gotta go,” Peter said, causing you to look at him but before you could protest he smashed a hard and messy kiss against your lips, pulling away and leaving you panting. “I gotta go.”
“I got them.” Peter three said and your Peter nodded at him thankfully before taking off, you turning to the stabbed Peter as the Peter who saved you placed a comforting hand on your shoulder.
“Is he gonna be ok?” You asked and Peter nodded.
“Yeah, we have healing abilities, he’ll be fine.” You smiled down at him and took his other hand in yours.
“What if everyone forgot who I was?” Peter asked Strange tearfully. “They’re coming here because of me right, because I’m Peter Parker? Well this time cast the spell and make everyone forget who I am.”
“No,” Strange said.
“It’d work right?” Peter asked and Strange nodded even though he hated to admit it.
“You have to understand, everyone, everyone who knows and loves you would we, we’d have no memory of you. It’d be as though you never existed.” Strange told him tearfully.
“I know,” Peter said, “Do it.”
“Better go and say you’re goodbyes, you don’t have long.” Strange said, blinking against the tears.
“Thank you, sir.” He said, missing Strange’s eye roll.
“Call me Stephen.” He told the kid with a chuckle.
“Thank you, Stephen.” He said, causing the man to smile.
You watched as a swirl of magic shot through the sky and Peter landed by Ned and MJ, you watched them all cry and they hugged Peter before he turned to you.
“What’s happening?” You asked Peter as you helped him stand the stabbed Peter up.
“I don’t know,” He said, not having a good feeling about whatever it was.
You all watched as your Peter landed on the shield with a soft thud looking at you with watery eyes before he turned to the other two Peter’s.
“I think it’s time for you two to go home. I, um, thank you, I just wanted to tell you that, I really don't know how to how to-” He stammered watching as the other Peter’s smile widely at him.
“Peter,” The one who saved you said softly, the smile turning into a gentle grin as he looked at his brother.
“We know.” Stabbed Peter said. “It’s what we do.”
“Yeah,” Your Peter said, “it’s what we do.”
“I gotta talk to Y/N.” He told them and they both nodded at him before he launched forward and hugged the two of them tightly. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“It was nice to meet you,” Peter said looking at you and you looked at him with a soft smile.
“If you’re ever in the universe again, don’t be a stranger.” Your smile widened as he laughed.
“Same goes.” He smiled, watching as your Peter led you off the shield and turned to you, the smile falling off his face.
“Peter?” You asked softly, cupping his cheek but he just pulled you tightly into his arms. “Peter, what’s going on?
“Strange is doing the spell.” He told you and you nodded.
“Yeah, the spell to send everybody home.” You said, glancing over to the other Peter’s who watched you in concern.
“Yeah but he’s- you’re going to forget who I am.” He told you, causing you to laugh, eyes welling with tears as you shook your head.
“What are you talking about?” You asked him, both of his hands taking yours as you stepped back.
“It’s the only way,” Peter said, “But it’s ok, it’s ok because I’ll find you and I’ll make you remember me, yeah?” He said with a shaky smile and you let out a sob as you stared at him, as if memorising every part of his face would stop you forgetting him.
“I don’t want to forget you.” You sobbed and he pulled you against him, holding you tighter than he ever had before. “What if it doesn’t work?”
“It’ll be okay.” He mumbled into your hair, feeling you shake your head.
“It’s meant to be you and me.” You told him, pulling back to look up at him, puffy eyes and tears falling down your cheeks uncontrollably as your lips quivered.
“You and me.” He said, nodding down at you, “I promise I’ll make you remember.” He said before he pulled you in for a kiss, it was messy, uncoordinated and you tried to convey everything, everything there wasn’t enough time to say, convey what there weren’t words for.
“I lov-” Peter began as he pulled away but you shook your head, covering his mouth with your hand.
“Don’t, don’t say that, not yet.” You choked out around more sobs, “Don’t tell me that, tell me when you find me.”
Peter looked at you, tears falling down his own face as he nodded, pulling you back into his arms and savouring the feeling.
“Ok, ok,” He said, still nodding, “But I do, Y/N, I really do.”
“Me too.” You said, smiling up at him, “It’s you and me.”
“I’ll make you remember.” He promised before giving you one last kiss, desperate to memorise every detail about you.
The sky crackled as you two looked at each other once more, nodding at each other.
“You and me.” He said before Strange’s spell began to work. He took one last, long look at you before he did the hardest thing he’s ever had to do, walk away from you.
Strange nodded down at him and you smiled over at him before he was gone and you fell to your knees, sobbing heartbrokenly, a pain in your chest you knew you’d never recover from.
Your eyes fell closed as you leaned your head on the ground only for them to open a few moments later as you looked around, glancing up at the Statue of Liberty in confusion, seeing MJ and Ned leaning over and looking down at you just as confused.
You lifted a hand to your cheeks, feeling the tears running down your checks without knowing why. Ned and MJ made their way down to you, their own cheeks wet with tears as you all looked at each other, no words being exchanged as you looked for a way back.
Still as you walked you couldn’t help but press a hand to your lips, the whisper of a memory you couldn’t quite reach and an empty feeling in your chest that hurt your heart.
Weeks passed and you found yourself at work, grinning down at your MIT acceptance letter as MJ sat with Ned at a table, taking a break leaving you at the counter but it was a cold, slow day so the three of you were chatting away and laughing with one another when the door opened.
Peter paused in the doorway, the sound of your laugh after so many weeks had him aching whilst also causing him to relax, the sound like the best music in his ears.
When you turned around to face him his heart just about stopped as he saw a wide, happy smile on your face.
“Hi,” The smile turned sweet as you stood straighter, “What can I get for you?”
“Hi,” He said softly, “My name is Peter Parker and I-” Here he stopped thinking of how much easier your life would be without him in it and he glanced down, noticing the acceptance letter on the counter. “I would like a coffee please.”
“Sure thing, Peter Parker.” You grinned at him before turning to make his drink.
“MIT?” He asked, trying to sound as casual as possible even though he wanted to cry as you smiled over your shoulder at him.
“Huh,oh yeah, I got it this morning, I’m so excited.” You told him and that’s what solidified it for him, he couldn’t tell you who he was, he couldn’t drag you into this world again, all it would take is one more Mysterio, one more villain to unmask him and you’d be slaughtered for it.
He couldn’t do it.
“What about you?” He looked up at your question, clearing his throat to dislodge the lump that had settled in it.
“Me?” He asked, causing you to giggle.
“You look my age, where are you going to school?” He smiled at the sound of your laugh before he stammered out a lie.
“Oh school?” He chuckled, causing you to smile, “I, um, I’m taking a year off.”
“Cool, that’s exciting.” You told him, “Here’s your coffee, Peter Parker.” You grinned at him and he smiled back.
“Have a great time at MIT.” He told you softly, smiling as he took his drink and headed out of the door.
“Thank you.” You told him watching him leave.
Your eyebrows furrowed together as you glanced through the window at him, a feeling in your chest you couldn’t quite explain as you looked over Ned and MJ who were looking at you with matching grins.
“Do we know that guy?” You asked them, watching in confusion as they shook their heads.
“No but he was cute.” MJ grinned, causing you to roll your eyes and look back out the window but he was gone.
“Hey, you ok?” MJ asked softly as she walked over to you and you frowned as you blinked back tears that came from nowhere.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” You told her, fingers coming up to play with the necklace that rested against your chest as you wracked your thoughts for any memory of the man who had just left but came up empty.
Still you couldn’t explain the empty feeling in your chest as you stared down at the acceptance letter, bringing the necklace up to your lips.

Febuwhump Prompt - "Don't Leave."
Prompt - “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
You sat in Ned’s apartment with him and MJ, a magical box resting on the table as you all waited for word from Peter. Your eyes were locked on the TV, watching as The Daily Bugle reported from outside Happy’s apartment but they were cut short as a fight broke out and the three of you could do nothing but stare the screen with bated breath.
“Should we press it?” MJ asked as the fight continued, watching as something bomb-like detonated.
Nobody replied to her question, all of you just continued to watch the screen, watching as Aunt May’s death was announced and you felt numbness spread throughout your entire body.
The past few days had been a blur of emotions all mixed into one, fear, anxiety, stress, relief, annoyance, all of those emotions and so many more had consumed you for days. You had hated that they were taking over but now as you stared at the screen, hearing the news, hearing that Peter had lost the last piece of his family, you wished you could feel anything but that horrible, bone chilling numbness.
“We should press it, right?” MJ asked again but you couldn’t speak. It felt like your throat had closed up as a single tear ran down your cheek, hating that Peter was alone right now.
“I don’t know,” Ned sighed, sounding close to tears himself, “I just, I just wish we could see him.”
Up until that moment your eyes had stayed locked onto the screen, not able to pull yourself away from it but then you saw orange sparks out of the corner of your eye. You recognised them as the same sparks that came from one of Strange’s portals and your head snapped around to Ned who looked at the place the sparks appeared, eyes wide and shock clear across his face.
“Do that again.” You snapped at him, standing up and moving over to where the portal had sparked.
“Yeah.” Ned was clearly astonished by what he had done. “I just wish we could see him.”
You watched as a portal began to fully form, shoulder sagging in relief as you saw an alleyway appear before you saw Spider-Man standing in the distance. You listened as MJ and Ned called Peter, beckoning him to come through.
It was only as he ran closer did you realise that something wasn’t right.
You watched as he came through, definitely Spider-Man but not the one you knew and yet when he pulled his mask off there was something so overwhelmingly familiar about him that it took your breath away and caused you to stagger back into the table.
The man was staring at you, his eyes wide as he looked into your eyes, completely lost as to why he felt like he knew you, lost over why his hand twitched up in an attempt to touch you but then somebody started shouting and he raised them non-threateningly.
“Hi, Hi, no it’s ok, I’m a nice guy.” He said softly, glancing over at Ned’s grandmother before he turned his attention to you, tilting his head at you questioningly.
“Who are you?” You heard somebody ask but you couldn’t look away from him, hands gripping the table edge so tightly your knuckles had turned white as you tried to figure out just why the numbness had been replaced with a feeling of safety, a feeling of relief, a feeling of being home.
“I’m Peter Parker, I am Spider-Man in my world but yesterday I was, I was just here.” He told MJ, his voice staying soft as he struggled with his own feelings, feelings that he hadn’t felt for a long time, feelings he thought had died the night Gwen had.
His attention was forced away from you as a bread roll hit his chest and he was forced to prove his identity, the suit and his word not being enough for the group in front of him, though he couldn’t push away the warmth in his chest at the smile on your face as you watched him.
“We good?” He asked and everybody nodded.
“Maybe if you keep doing it we can find the real Peter.” MJ said to Ned, the two of them talking in the background but you tuned them out as Peter took a hesitant step towards you, a hundred and one questions on his tongue.
“Hi,” was all he managed to breathe out, his eyes becoming wet and he couldn’t say why.
“Hi.” You replied, voice just as quiet, just as soft as his as you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach, your heart beating faster as he lifted his hand to your cheek before he brushed a strand of hair from your face.
You pulled away from each other as you heard the sound of another man’s voice, Peter staring ahead and you turning around so your back was to his chest, listening as he too introduced himself as Peter Parker.
“This might sound weird,” The other Peter told you all from the opposite side of the room, “but I’ve been trying to find your friend ever since I got here, I just have the sense that he, um, that he needs my help.”
“Our help.” Your Peter said and you had to pause for a second because your Peter? Where had that come from?
You turned to face him again, looking up at him as everybody around you spoke, hating that you couldn’t pay attention but your mind was focused on the man in front of you, every part of you screaming that he was your Peter. Confusion ran through you, you truly did feel like you knew him despite the fact he was from a different reality.
When you left him to go and see the Peter from your universe it felt like everything inside you was protesting being away from your Peter, leaving you feeling empty and cold and only able to relax once you heard him speak from where he stood with the other Peter, talking to your universe Peter with sympathy and understanding.
Your heart ached to be next to your Peter, you really had to stop calling him that, as he started talking about Gwen, about how losing her had caused him to stop fighting, how he turned bitter and rageful and how he gave up, only putting the suit on because he knew she’d want him to continue being the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man.
“And I just, I don’t want you to end up…like me.” Those words had a single tear slipping down your cheek as you continued to stare up at your Peter, frowning as the guilt radiated off of him, wanting nothing more than to wrap your arms around him, to take the guilt and sadness away from him.
You finally relaxed as you all made your way down to the lab, you and your Peter gravitating towards each other like it was second nature. Peter brushed his knuckles against yours, both of you startling as sparks shot through your hands at the small touch, feeling your heart skip a beat.
“I think I can repair the devices for Dillon and Marko but the others,” Your universe Peter said, trailing off as he looked down at the other broken cures.
“Oh,” Your Peter said, a little cockily causing you to grin, “I got Connors. I’ve already cured him once, so no big deal.”
You couldn’t help but giggle as he smiled at the looks he was shot.
“What? It’s no big deal.” He told them again, watching them nod as he picked the cure up and gestured for you to follow him with a tilt of his head.
“So Y/N,” Peter said softly as you took a seat at the lab, smiling as he helped you into a lab coat. “Do you know what’s happening?”
You looked over at him, swallowing against the lump in your throat as you shook your head. The two of you were sitting side by side, you could see every detail on his face from this close and you fought to keep your hands to yourself despite the fact you wanted nothing more than to trace his face with your fingertips and run them through soft, brown locks.
“I feel like I know you,” You told him, keeping your voice quiet as the two of you worked together at the back of the room, forcing your gaze down onto the beaker in front of you though you couldn’t stop them flickering back over to him every few seconds. “I feel like I’ve known you my whole life.”
Peter let out a breath, let his eyes lock onto you as he watched you use the pipette to measure one of the chemicals before dropping it into the beaker. He felt breathless as he looked at you because he too felt like he knew you, he felt like his world was instantly brighter, instantly better, more hopeful and beautiful since he’d laid his eyes on you.
His hand found yours once you were finished adding the chemicals and he smiled as the warm sparks shot through the touch, smiled as you looked up at him with the most adoring expression. He never thought he’d feel like this again, not since Gwen had…not since Gwen but here you were before him making him feel like there was something left to fight for, something to live for.
It was bizarre, he knew it was, he knew it didn’t make sense, how could a girl he’d met only hours ago draw this reaction from him? He didn’t have an answer but he didn’t need one, every emotion seemed heightened as he brushed his fingers across your knuckles, watching as you relaxed into his touch.
“I feel like I’ve been waiting for you all my life.” Peter confessed as his other hand came up to cup your cheek and you couldn't help but press your hand against his, keeping him from moving away.
“Peter,” You whispered, feeling overwhelmed by the emotions the man was able to bring out in you, emotions you’d never felt before, the strongness of them leaving you uneasy but you also never wanted them to go away, never wanted Peter to go away.
“I know,” Peter whispered back, unable to stop himself from resting his forehead on yours. “I don’t understand it either but I want whatever this is.”
“Me too.” You said, not quite sure why tears had filled your eyes but you didn’t pay them any mind, just kept looking into Peter’s eyes, seeing them light up and swimming with an array of emotions.
“Peter!” Ned called, causing you and Peter to shoot away from each other as everyone turned to Ned.
“Yeah?” All three of them asked and you laughed as they all looked at each other before speaking at once.
“Peter Parker?” Ned tried again.
“We’re all Peter Parker.” Your Peter told him, causing you to grin as you leaned your head against his shoulder, missing the way his eyes softened as he smiled down at you.
“So, wait,” Your Peter said as you had all moved to check the computer, all of the cures ready. “Are you going into battle dressed as a cool youth pastor or do you have your suit?” You couldn’t help but chuckle, causing Peter to shoot you a grin before he nodded to the other Peter who revealed the suit under his shirt.
After a few more words between you all, the three Peter’s were ready to put the plan into action. You watched as your universe Peter stood off to the side, exchanging quiet words with MJ and turned to your Peter.
“Hey,” You said, taking his wrist in yours and leading him away from Ned and the other Peter who both looked at the two of you but neither of you noticed, “Please be safe.” You whispered.
“Look at me,” Peter said, cupping your jaw in his hand and guiding your face up to his before he rested your foreheads together again, “I’m going to be fine, we’re going to cure them.”
You looked into impossibly soft eyes as he smiled down at you reassuringly and nodded against his forehead, closing your eyes for a second before you pulled away and wrapped your arms around his waist, missing the way Ned looked back to your universe Peter and they shot each other confused looks.
Peter looked down at you, a wide smile pulling at his lips as he wrapped his own arms around you, holding you close as he took comfort in the feeling of home. He couldn’t describe it, it felt like magic was running through his veins, the feeling of you in his arms, getting to hold you against his chest, burying his face in your hair…it was such an overwhelming feeling that he felt almost light headed, not able to resist placing a lingering kiss to your head as the two of you pulled away.
“You’ve got this.” You told him watching as he nodded down at you. He’d believe anything you told him and as he looked at you he felt every bit of fight come back to him at full force, no more stopping his punches, no more rage or bitterness, he had this.
“I’ll see you soon.” He promised, placing another kiss to your head causing you to smile up at him, nodding as he headed out of the portal with the other Peter’s, your universe Peter leaving last as he shot you a questioning look.
As they left through the portal you moved to stand next to Ned and MJ, raising an eyebrow as they both stared at you.
“What?” You asked, raising an eyebrow at them.
“What?” MJ asked back in disbelief, “What the hell was that?” She said gesturing to the space you and Peter had just occupied.
You sighed and closed your eyes before looking through the portal that was still open.
“I don’t know.” You told her honestly after a few moments of silence.
“You don’t know?” She repeated slowly and you shook your head, now that he was gone it felt like you were missing a part of you and hated that you didn’t know what was happening.
“I can’t explain it,” You began, taking a seat on one of the stools, “It’s like, I don’t know, something about him seems familiar, you know? Something is pulling me towards him, yelling at me that I need to be close to him. I feel like I know him already, feel like I’ve always known him. It’s like a piece of me has been missing, a piece that I never knew was missing, never knew existed but now that it’s there…” You told them, trailing off and refused to meet their gaze, knowing it sounded crazy.
“Y/N,” MJ breathed out, looking at you with wide eyes. In all the time she had known you she’d never heard you speak so softly about somebody.
“It doesn't make sense,” You cut her off, “I know it doesn’t and I can’t explain it. I just know what I feel.”
“Nothing about this makes any sense.” She said to you as she sat in the stool to your left, gesturing towards the portal that led out to the Statue of Liberty where three Spider-Men stood waiting for villains from other universes.
“I’ve known him for a few hours and it’s like, it’s like I’m hooked on him. Everything about him is addicting.” MJ looked at you again, watching as you stared at the portal.
“He looks at you like you’re the only person in the room.” She told you quietly, recalling the looks he had given you as the two of you worked on Connor’s cure, laughing and smiling as you spoke about your lives, getting to know each other. He had looked at you like every word meant something incredible, like nothing you said couldn’t interest him and she saw the way you looked back at him, like each word was sacred, each move he made was significant.
“So what’s going on with you and Y/N?” Your universe Peter asked Peter.
Peter looked at the portal that was still open in the distance before turning back to the two Peter’s looking at him.
“I don’t know, man, there’s just something drawing me to her. She’s like a breath of fresh air, you know? It feels like I’m meant to know her, like she’s meant for me. I feel like I already know her.” He told them, watching their eyes widen as they stared at him.
“You’ve never met her before, right?” The other different universe Peter asked, looking between the other Peter’s, “She’s definitely from this universe?”
“I’ve known her pretty much my whole life, she’s definitely from here.” Your universe Peter answered for Peter, shaking his head because it was impossible for you not to be from his universe.
“I’ve never met her, I just-” Peter paused and let out a deep breath, “I don’t know, I came out of that portal and was breathless, you know? Looking into her eyes, it felt like coming home after years of being lost.”
“Wow,” Your universe Peter breathed out, looking at Peter with wide eyes as he watched his face completely soften as he spoke about you.
Both yours and Peter’s conversations were cut off with the arrival of the villains as you and MJ stood up and made your way over to Ned who stood next to the still open portal and watched as he failed to close it, your eyes trying to find Peter in the chaos and anxiety coursed through your veins as you couldn’t see him.
You continued to stare out of the portal and froze as you watched the lizard break free of the webbs holding him in place and lock eyes with the open portal.
“I’m trying to close it, MJ!” Ned snapped, “Don’t tell them it’s not working.” He took a deep breath and tried again, MJ speaking calmly and encouragingly as she watched him try and fail to close it.
“Guys,” You said, gulping loudly causing them to both glance at you. “We should run.”
They both followed your gaze and gasped as they saw the lizard charging towards you all, his sights set on the box in MJ’s hands.
“Good idea!” MJ agreed as you all ran around the room, relief flooding through you as your universe Peter swung in and kicked the lizard to the other side of the room, yelling for you all to run.
You did and ran through the portal, gasping for breath as you looked down from the Statue before Ned grabbed your arm, giving you a shove to keep moving. You ended up losing track of them and came to a stop as you saw your Peter being held by Electro’s powers and held your breath watching as the other universe Peter swung in only to be stopped by the robotic tentacle.
You huffed a breath of relief as Doc Ock lowered the two Spider-Men onto the scaffolding and ran over to Peter, wrapping your arms around his waist as you buried your face in his back, feeling him tense before he twisted around to see you and fully turned so you were held against his chest.
“What the hell are you doing out here?” He exclaimed, looking down at you with wide, scared eyes.
“The lizard thing-” You panted out, unable to say anything else as fear ran through you as you cuddled closer to Peter who tightened his grip on you.
“Alright, alright, you’re ok, I got you.” Peter whispered, placing a kiss upon the top of your head as he continued to hold you close until your breathing was under control. “You gotta go, Y/N/N, you can’t be up here.”
You could hear the fear in his voice and didn’t try to argue with him, not when he was looking at you like that. Instead you leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to his jaw, watching as some of the fear eased and he smiled down at you.
“You’ve got this.” You told him, smiling as his smile got wider and he nodded, cupping your cheek in his hand and pressing your foreheads together.
“Get to safety.” He whispered, leaning close, so close that your lips brushed together but then MJ called Peter’s name and both of you turned to the sound and saw the lizard get knocked to the floor.
“You got this.” You repeated and watched him grin at you before he swung into action, ready to cure Connors.
You began to make you way down, only getting a level or two down before it all seemed to shake as an explosion rang through the air, powerful enough to throw you over the scaffolding and you let out a scream as debris exploded around you, a piece managing to cut your cheek as you felt yourself fall through the air.
Peter’s head snapped over, watching in horror as you fell. He felt his stomach drop as his blood ran cold and didn’t hesitate before he was moving, diving from the scaffolding and down to you.
He could see the horror in your eyes as you plummeted through the air, could hear his heart beating in his ears as memories assaulted his mind.
No way, he thought to himself, I only just found her.
You sobbed as Peter’s arms wrapped around you, holding you tightly against his chest as the two of you landed softly on the floor. You gasped for air and Peter looked down at you, his breaths coming out in pants as tears welled up in his eyes.
I caught her, I caught her, she’s safe.
“Are you okay?” He managed to ask, a tear falling from his eye as you nodded into his chest, staying there for a few moments longer before pulling away to look up at him.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Are you okay?” You asked quietly, unlooping one of your arms from his neck and brought a shaky hand up to his face, wiping away the tear only for it to be replaced by more as emotions overwhelmed him.
He couldn’t speak, he could only nod and you brought his head down to yours, pressing your foreheads together exactly as Peter needed. He needed to hear your breathing, needed to feel your fingers in his hair and against his cheek.
She’s safe, I caught her.
Peter placed you down on your feet and kept you close together, not ready to move away yet and you were more than fine with that, fear and adrenaline running through you.
“Thank you.” You whispered, brushing away the tears again and felt him nod.
He couldn’t stop himself as he leaned down, pressing your lips together hesitantly, a barely there brush of lips but you smiled, a huff of relief leaving your lips before you pressed yours against Peter’s with more force.
The kiss was still soft but it felt like you had both consumed Electro’s powers as sparks flew between the two of you. It was unlike any kiss either of you had had before, Peter’s arms coming to rest around your waist, holding you tight as you moved your arm so both of them were around his neck, pulling him in closer.
It wasn’t long before the two of you pulled away, the kiss leaving you breathless as you stared at each other, feeling like something in the universe had shifted.
“Y/N,” He whispered, no other words coming out but you just nodded, leaning in again to brush your lips against his, a quick kiss before you pulled away, knowing he was needed.
“You got this.” You murmured, watching as he smiled at you as best he could whilst his lips trembled.
“Please stay safe.” He said, causing you to let out a soft huff of laughter as you nodded.
“I’ll see you soon.” You said, unable to resist the urge to press one last to his lips, smiling into it as he cupped your cheek, thumb brushing against the cut on your face, before the two of you pulled away and with a final glance towards you he took off swinging.
You leant back and tried to slow your beating heart before it burst out of your chest, looking up as the sky turned people and seemed to split and figures began to make their way out.
“Y/N?” You heard MJ and Ned yelled and turned around, looking at them in relief and meeting them halfway as you ran into their arms.
“You ok?” She asked breathlessly, pulling back to hold you at arm's length, watching as you smiled softly and nodded.
“Yeah, I’m ok.” You told her truthfully.
“Guys,” Ned says and you all turn to stare down in horror as Peter landed punch after punch onto the Goblin, hearing his laughs from where you were. MJ grabbed your hand just as Peter grabbed the Goblin’s glider and held it over his head, fully intending to bring it down on the man.
You all breathed a sigh of relief as he was stopped by the other universe Peter, you could see his face pleading with Peter before the glider was set down before you gasped as you watched the goblin stab the other Peter.
You couldn’t move but watched as your Peter threw the goblin cure over to your universe Peter who grabbed it without turning away and stabbed it into the Goblin’s neck. You took great delight in the look of shock on his face.
MJ squeezed your hand tighter in hers as a loud rumble seemed to spread through the earth and you all looked up to see the cracks in the sky widening, mixing with orange runes that you recognised as Strange’s magic.
You looked to the other Peter’s and watched as your universe Peter webbed his way up to the top of the Statue of Liberty where Strange was standing and let your gaze wander down to your Peter who helped lift the other Peter off the ground.
“Where are you going?” MJ called as you untangled your hand from hers and took off running towards the two Peter’s.
“Y/N!” Peter called as you made your way over to them, a relieved smile pulling on his lips.
“Are you ok?” You asked the other Peter softly, gladly letting Peter pull you against him on the side that wasn’t holding the other Peter.
“I’m good,” He smiled at you, “I heal quick.”
“Good.” You smiled back before turning to look up at your Peter who smiled down at you and lowered his head so that his lips brushed against yours, the two of you so absorbed in each other you missed the look of surprise on the other Peter’s face.
“You’re safe.” He murmured against your lips as the two of you pulled away.
“You did it.” You smile up at him, watching as he relaxed completely, grinning at you as he nodded. “You’re okay?”
Peter didn’t answer for a moment, just looked down at you, eyes shining with something you couldn’t quite put your finger on but his entire expression softened as he looked into your eyes and cupped your cheek in his hand, his thumb brush just below the cut.
“I’m okay.” He finally said, voice barely above a whisper but you heard them clear enough and the two of you just looked at each other before you turned to face your universe Peter who landed in front of you all with a soft thud.
You watched his smile fade as he looked from you to your Peter, regret spreading across his features as you frowned at him.
“What is it?” You asked, continuing to look at him and missing the way your Peter’s face crumbled, shaking his head as his eyes screwed shut to hold back the tears.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N/N.” He whispered, taking a step closer to you and you felt your frown deepen as you turned up to your Peter, freezing as you saw him.
“No,” You said, shaking your own head repeatedly as you stepped even closer to Peter if it were possible. “No, tell Strange to do something.”
“Y/N,” Peter managed but you shook your head at him.
“Please Peter, I can’t- I can’t lose him. Tell Strange to send me to his universe, please.” You begged, your voice breaking as tears slid down your cheeks.
“Y/N/N,” Your Peter said softly and you sobbed, feeling your knees give out but Peter caught you, the other Peter pulling away, holding onto your universe Peter as they both watched you sadly.
“Please don’t,” You sobbed, feeling him rest his forehead against yours as tears fell uncontrollably down his own cheeks. He lifted his hands to cup both of your cheeks, feeling your tears against his hand as you begged and pleaded with him. “Please Peter, don’t leave. You can’t leave, I just found you.”
“I know, I know.” He choked out, feeling emptier than he had in a long time, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, baby.”
“You can’t leave.” You told him again and he nodded because he knew he couldn’t, he couldn’t leave you, not now. How could he leave you here when it felt like everything in him was screaming at him that you were his and he was yours? How could he leave you when you felt more like home than any four walls ever had?
He couldn’t leave you but he knew he had no choice and that realisation turned his blood cold.
The two of you stayed in each other’s hold, missing when your universe Peter left after trying to get your attention but failing, missed the sympathetic looks the other Peter gave you. You felt the magic spread through the air, knew it would snatch your Peter away from you any second and held onto him tighter like that would stop the magic.
Peter felt it too and leaned down, smashing your lips together in a messy kiss, tears pouring down both your cheeks as you gripped each other hard enough to bruise. The two of you panting for breath as you pulled away, Peter resting his forehead back on yours.
“I’ll find you.” He promised, nodding his head as he did. “I swear to God I will find a way back to you, Y/N/N.”
“I’ll be waiting.” You told him and just like that you watched as Strange’s orange magic covered him before he disappeared causing you to fall to your knees, sobbing into the empty space where he had stood.
“Y/N.” You looked up and saw your universe Peter crouching down next to you. “I’m so sorry.”
“I’m gonna get him back.” You told him, voice hard and determined, causing Peter to smile down at you sadly.
“I have to go.” He said and you frowned up at him, crying even harder as he explained Strange’s spell to you, realising that you were losing both your best friend and your soul mate in the space of a few seconds.
“I’m gonna get you back too then.” You promised him, watching as he smiled sadly at you but didn’t disagree. He just nodded at you, glancing up at Strange who gave him a look.
He had to leave now.
“I love you.” He whispered as he stood and you felt the sobs wrack your body, felt your throat close up but forced yourself to reply.
“I love you too.” You choked out, forcing yourself to smile but it dropped the second he turned away, swinging off into the distance just as Strange’s spell took affect and the last thought you had was -
I’m gonna get them back.

Angstember Prompt - ‘The most messed up thing the universe will ever do to you is letting you meet the right person at the wrong time.’
You hadn’t had long together but it was long enough to give you both a glimpse into the future, one filled with laughter and adventure, one overflowing with more love than either of you had ever experienced. The four months spent constantly at each other's side, your lives becoming so entwined, were enough for the two of you to fall hard and fast, ready for the future together that seemed to be destined for you.
It was completely by chance the two of you met. Peter had been focused on the world through his camera lens whereas your attention was on the text message you were sending. Neither of you saw the other until you crashed into each other, the drink that had been balanced in your hand as you typed was now on the floor, just how you would have been had the person you’d crashed into not caught you.
You looked up at him, your breath catching in your throat as you looked into concerned and apologetic brown eyes, the most beautiful pair of eyes you may have ever seen.
“I am so sorry,” he said, eyes still looking directly into yours. “I wasn’t looking where I was going and-”
“Oh don’t be silly.” You told him, finally snapping out of whatever spell had you completely captivated by him. “It was my fault. I was in a world of my own.”
The man's laugh was as beautiful as his eyes, washing over you and as quickly as that it had become your favourite sound.
“We’re both to blame then.” He told you, his voice carrying his amusement. “Will you at least let me buy you a new drink?”
You wouldn’t usually accept the offer, much too aware of the dangers of strangers but there was something about him that made him seem like wasn’t a stranger, like he was somebody you had known before, somebody you had to know. You had no other choice but to go with him, you couldn’t deny yourself the man's company.
“I think I can manage that.” You told him and if you thought he was beautiful before then it was nothing compared to how breath taking he was when he smiled at you like this.
His whole face seemed to light up, his brown eyes shining with happiness and relief that you had said yes. Dimples appeared in his cheeks and his eyes wrinkled with how wide the smile was.
That was only the first day of your time together, the first five minutes of what both of you wished would be a lifetime together.
Once you arrived at the cafe, a walk that lasted only a few minutes but felt much longer as you both filled the silence with questions and answers, like you were both dying and learning everything you could about the other was the cure. Neither of you were ready to leave so when Peter asked if you had anywhere to be you told him no, shooting an apology text to your friend, saying you couldn’t make it as Peter got your drinks.
Three drinks and several hours passed by, not noticed by you or Peter as the two of you were so absorbed in one another, stories were told whilst smiles and laughs were memorised. Both of you made sure to remember the little details in each other's words and were more than content where you were.
At some point your chairs, which had started out on the opposite sides of the table, ended up side by side so that your knees pressed together and your arms brushed against each other.
Peter’s phone ringing was the only thing to pull you out of the little world you’d created together.
“Sorry,” Peter apologised softly, giving you a sheepish smile, “It’s my Aunt.”
You smiled as he answered the phone, feeling like you already knew Aunt May through the stories Peter had shared with you.
“Hey, hey, relax, I’m on my way ho-” Peter said, pausing mid-sentence as his Aunt interrupted him and you felt your smile widen as he gave you an exasperated look. “Yes May, I bought it before.”
The conversation didn’t last much longer and as Peter hung up, his expression shifting into a frown.
“I’m really sorry, I completely forgot we were having company and my Aunt asked me to pick some things up which I haven’t done yet and-”
“Peter,” you interrupted him with a laugh, watching as a smile replaced his frown at the sound, “It’s fine, you should probably head to the store.”
“Yeah,” he chuckled, picking up his bag and setting it on his shoulder before looking back at you.
It was clear he wanted to say something from the way his mouth opened and closed several times before he shook his head and sat up straighter.
“Can I see you again?” He finally asked and you felt your smile widen which Peter took as a good sign from the way he relaxed into his seat and smiled back at you.
“I’d like that.” You told him softly, not even surprised at how much you mean it. In the span of a few hours Peter Parker had carved a space for himself in your heart.
“Good,” Peter nodded, sighing in relief. “Good, well then, I’ll just-” Peter trailed off as he pulled his phone back out and handed it to you.
Watching Peter leave left you with a strange feeling running through you. It wasn’t often you put yourself out there and made yourself available. You couldn’t remember the last date you’d been on, couldn’t remember the last time you cared to even bother but meeting Peter seemed to have changed that.
Now you were sitting here feeling hopeful for the future, a future that you couldn’t envision without Peter Parker despite only having known him for all of four hours.
It wasn’t long after your chance meeting that you and Peter saw each other again. Only a few days had gone by, days in which you were both attached to your phones messaging each other all day and well into the night. In just a few days you had gone from strangers to something more than friends, something far more intimate, something filled with promises.
Meeting every few days eventually turned into meeting every single day whether it be a quick get together before school at the cafe you had gone to when you’d first met or exploring the city with each other. Some days you’d simply go to the other's house and lay with each other as a movie played in the background, sometimes you focused on it but more often than not it got spoken over, the two of you desperate to know everything about the other.
You were practically dating without making it official, it didn’t need a title, not really. Both of you had fallen hard and fast but never defined things. So when Peter took you to the cafe that was quickly becoming yours you didn’t think anything of it. Not until Peter arrived looking worried and flustered, stumbling over his words.
“What’s going on?” You asked him.
You hadn’t seen him this nervous since you first met and he asked if he could see you again, from that day there had been no awkwardness, no nervousness or hesitancy between you. So the fact that Peter was acting so unsure now, you couldn’t help the worry that slipped into your tone.
Peter looked at you for a second, looked at the concern clear on your face and smiled, relaxing into his seat as he reached over to take your hand in his.
“I’ve had the best few weeks with you.” He told you softly, watching as a smile pulled at your lips. “I’ve never known anyone like you, I feel like we’ve known each other our whole lives, I can't see myself without you anymore. And I was wondering, well, if you would be my girlfriend?”
His short speech had you beaming in happiness, his question had you smiling impossibly wider. You felt exactly the same, it had only been a few weeks and yet you could hardly remember a time your days and thoughts hadn’t been consumed by Peter.
“Yes.” You told him, the pair of you sat in your cafe grinning at each other like idiots.
Nothing much changed once things became official between you and Peter. You still hung out every day, except now you could call your time together what it always had been: dates. You still spoke to each other through your phones when you weren’t together.
Nothing had changed.
And then it did.
Two months of absolute bliss turned into something else in the blink of an eye. Exam season had come and gone, as had the time of sending college applications off, something you and Peter had done well before meeting each other.
The schools you had applied for were realistic, they were schools you knew you had the grades for. But there was one school you applied for after encouragement from your advisor, a dream school of yours for years. You had applied knowing full well you wouldn’t be accepted.
So how had you ended up here? Sat on your sofa staring down at the acceptance letter from Oxford University offering you a full scholarship for four years. It was a dream come true and yet you could feel your heart breaking.
Four years was a long time.
Yours and Peter’s relationship wasn’t even four months long, hell it was barely two months since you’d met him. It hardly mattered that you hadn’t known each other long. You had fallen for him hard and fast.
You knew it was love, knew that it was love that consumed you when you were with Peter, when you spoke about him, when you thought about him.
You and Peter weren’t just friends, you were so much more than lovers. It seemed every part, every inch of your beings was connected in some sort of way. The way the two of you moved, the way you seemed so alike and yet somehow so opposite, the perfect mix of one another, balancing each other out like you were two halves of a whole.
You were soulmates. There wasn’t another way to describe the two of you. It was like the word had been perfectly created and defined with you two in mind.
Four years was a long time though and long distance hardly ever worked. You knew accepting Oxford meant losing Peter.
So what did you pick; a lifelong dream or the boy you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
Peter came over that night. His usual bright smile turned into a concerned frown as he took in your eyes, red from crying over an impossible choice.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as the door shut behind him, the worry in his voice caused you to tear up again as you shook your head and led him to your bedroom. “What’s wrong?” He asked again, cupping your cheek in his palm, using his thumb to brush away a tear that fell from your eye.
“I got accepted into Oxford.” You told him and watched as a smile spread across his face.
“That’s amazing!” He told you before his eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “Why are you so upset?” He asked as he wiped another tear away.
“Peter, it’s a four year scholarship.” He was silent for a moment and you saw the exact moment realisation hit him, his smile fading as he swallowed hard. “I don’t have to go, I haven't decided anything yet.”
“Y/N,” Peter breathed out, staring at you in amazement even as he wore a sad smile. “You’re not rejecting Oxford, not for me.”
“I only applied on a fluke, I didn’t think they’d accept me, I forgot I even applied most of the time because I didn’t want to get my hopes up thinking I was good enough for Oxford.” You said, the words falling from your lips quickly and you forced back more tears.
Peter let out a wet chuckle.
“Of course you’re good enough, baby.” He told you, tone so soft and sincere that you couldn’t stop the choked sob that escaped you. “You’re amazing, they would have been stupid to not want you.”
“I don’t want to leave you.” You whispered and watched as his eyes widened in sympathy.
“Y/N,” Peter began but you cut him off with a shake of your head.
“I really don’t have to go.” You said, hating that the universe handed you the man of your dreams only to throw this at you.
“The first day I met you, you told me at our cafe your biggest dream was to study at Oxford. I saw the way your eyes lit up when you spoke about it. You have to go, baby.” Peter’s words had tears falling uncontrollably down your cheeks.
“Peter,” You pleaded, voice breaking.
“I know,” he told you, tears falling down his own cheeks, “trust me, I know but I’m not going to be the reason you don’t go, Y/N/N. This has been your dream for so much longer than you’ve known me and I am so proud of you.” Peter told you, a shaky smile on his face as he rested your foreheads together.
You couldn’t say just how long the two of you stood there for, pressed against each other as you cried, mourning all the time that should have been between the two of you.
Every moment spent with each other from that day on seemed to be filled with an air of sadness, no matter how much both of you tried to ignore it. Sadness at knowing your time together would soon come to an end.
When the day finally came Peter insisted on seeing you off. You said your goodbyes to your family at home before climbing into a cab with Peter, your hands clenched together desperately like it could keep you here.
The ride was over much too quickly and you felt sick to your stomach as the airport came into view.
Peter lifted your bags out of the trunk and wheeled them into the building, whilst still holding your hand tightly in his. Once you got to the point Peter couldn’t go past you took a shaky breath, turning to face him to see he was already looking at you.
Those beautiful brown eyes were darker now than they had been the day you had first met, gone was the warmth and the light. Now they were filled with sadness and pain. You were certain yours reflected the same.
“I really am so proud of you.” He told you, his voice sounding choked and you could see him struggling to hold back tears. “Oxford better know how lucky they are to have you.”
You let out a tearful laugh that sounded more like a sob.
It seemed cruel, it seemed like the most messed up thing you had ever experienced. The universe, in all its greatness, had given you the most amazing gift in the form of Peter Parker. It had given you the most perfect four months together, the most hopeful glimpse into what your futures could be, only to let it end like this.
You wished you had met him at a different point in your life. Years earlier so you didn’t apply to Oxford or four years later when you were back in the States. It seemed so cruel to have met the love of your life only to be ripped away from him for four long years.
You knew it was love and you didn’t care that it was probably too soon. You couldn’t say those three words now though, it would only add to the pain of leaving.
“I’m really going to miss you.” You told him as tears fell from your eyes.
“I’m calling you every day, texting too. Honestly you’ll be sick of me.” He told you, smiling even as his eyes shone with tears. “You’re not getting rid of me.”
You hoped he was right but four years was a long time, it was almost a lifetime given how much both of you would change. Still you hoped the universe would be kind to the two of you.
An announcement playing over the loud speaker had Peter’s smile fading slightly.
“That’s you.” He said quietly and you nodded, neither of you able to say anything else.
You stepped close to him, wrapping your arms around his torso and buried your face into his chest, soaking the fabric of his shirt with your tears. Peter’s own tears fell into your hair, unable to fight them back any longer as he held onto you tightly for as long as he could, committing the feeling of you against him to memory.
Letting go of you was one of the hardest things he had ever had to do.
He leaned down, not ready to let you walk away yet, and kissed you. It was a messy kiss, filled with tears and sadness but also with so much love. The words didn’t need saying, both of you knew.
“I’ll see you again. I’ll be waiting right here the second you get back.” Peter promised, your sad sob of a laugh told him you didn’t believe him and he swore to himself he would keep that promise, no matter what.
He was yours, forever, no amount of distance or time could change that.
Watching you walk away had Peter’s heart physically aching. He stood there with tears falling down his cheeks until you disappeared from view, and a little longer because he couldn’t see through his tears.
You had to fight the urge to sob, walking away from Peter felt wrong, it felt like the worst decision you could have made. You cursed the universe for letting you fall in love with him only to separate you after much too little time together.
You hoped Peter was right, hoped he would be waiting for you when you got back. In your heart you knew you and Peter were meant to be, that much was true but now just wasn’t the right time no matter how much both of you wished differently.
Days were spent thinking about what could have been after you left, missing touches that should have been, moments that could have created a lifetime of memories, of stories that people grew tired of hearing but neither of you bored of telling. There were four years of your lives that should have been spent together but because the timing hadn’t been right that time had instead been filled with pining, with sadness but also with hope that you would find your way back to each other one day.

Angstember Prompt - “I hope it's worth it.”
You could still remember the first day you had met Peter Parker, despite the years that had passed. You remembered your eyes meeting across the room, remembered him walking up to you in the cafeteria and asking to join you for lunch, you remembered the sparks that seemed to fly instantly, the way the conversation flowed easily between you like you’d known each other for years rather than the few moments you had. The boy before you had made you laugh like no one had before, had made you feel more at ease than you’d ever been and from there you knew he was going to be important to you.
You loved telling the story of how you and Peter met, loved sharing how the two of you had gone from two people alone in the cafeteria to best friends to dating, loved how people smiled and gushed over how cute it was.
Telling the story of how Peter had asked you out was another favourite of yours, it was a story you hoped you were telling years down the line to anyone who would listen, a story you could recite in your sleep. Telling them how he had he had invited you out into the city on New Year’s eve, telling them how you stood surrounded by people cheering and laughing, of how Peter had nervously pulled you close and told you how important you were to him, about how he couldn’t picture his life without you and how much he cared for you. He had timed it perfectly somehow and by the time you were grinning up at him, overwhelmed with happiness, he had cupped your cheek, giving you a chance to pull away from him if you wanted before he pressed his lips to yours softly just as midnight struck, even as people cheered around you the noise seemed to fade as you could only focus on Peter.
From there not much had changed between you and Peter, you already spent so much of your time with the other, shared everything between the two of you, the only thing that really changed was that you could kiss freely now instead of having to shove the urge deep down for fear of messing your friendship up.
The first year of your relationship passed in a blur of happiness, you and Peter falling harder in love with each other every day. Of course you had had a few arguments here and there but nothing serious and nothing that wasn’t resolved the same day. Everything between you and Peter seemed perfect, like you were in a fairy tale.
So the moment everything changed you felt it straight away, it felt like your world had shifted, like things were falling out of place when Peter began to pull away from you. You tried to figure out what had happened, replayed every moment of the last few weeks in your head but couldn’t come up with anything that would have upset him.
It wasn’t like he pushed you away completely but he had definitely put distance between the two of you. It wasn’t until Ben died that the wall between you came crashing into place and it wasn’t like you couldn’t understand his pain, his grief but despite attending the funeral, despite Peter gripping your hand throughout the service he pulled further away, completely ignoring you for days at a time.
You had tried to be there for him but he wouldn’t let you and so you allowed him his wish to be alone, to hopefully work through everything. It wasn’t until he came to school with bruises that you finally had enough, weeks passing since the funeral, and pulled Peter into an empty classroom.
You tried to talk to him, tried to ask him where the bruises came from and why he was being so distant. Peter had just rolled his eyes, his exhaustion clear and only adding to his tenseness. He had told you he was fine, that the bruises were nothing, he told you to stay out of it, that whatever he did was none of your business. You had only been able to scoff at him, shaking your head in disbelief before walking out of the door leaving Peter to regret his words as he slumped tiredly against the wall but he couldn’t stop himself from pushing away from you.
Ben’s death was already on his hands, he refused to put you in danger too.
From that day things had changed, Peter’s resolve to keep away from you only strengthening as he settled into his role as Spider-Man, hating the distance between you, hating the first secret he had to keep from you but knowing it was necessary. He’d rather have you alive and away from him than at his side but dead. He knew he was picking Spider-Man over you but after Uncle Ben…he could save people now. That was his responsibility.
You yourself had gone from being able to walk into any room and knowing your place was a spot next to him, a seat he always made sure to save for you no matter how many people were hanging out in your group, to standing alone, awkwardly in the cafeteria, scanning the room for an empty seat in the span of a few weeks.
You didn’t know what page the two of you were on lately, didn’t know what was going to happen between you. You hoped that he would sort through whatever it was that made him feel like he had to distance himself from you, hoped he’d come back to you but as time passed you found yourself losing hope.
It was clear he was keeping something from you, a secret that he refused to share. It was strange, the two of you had always been so openly honest with each other, never feeling like you had to hide anything, not with how much you trusted each other but now it was clear you’d done something to lose that trust, to make him think he couldn’t tell you things.
As time passed and Peter continued to shove you away despite your countless attempts to show him you were still there for him, to show him you still loved him you felt his walls building themselves higher and higher, too thick for you to be heard from outside them.
Not speaking to Peter was agonisingly painful, having gone from spending everyday with him to not even being able to speak two words to him because he rushed away from you hurt more than anything. You wondered, as you lay in bed alone, if it was killing him, if it was tearing him up, the same way it was you. You wanted to know just what you had done, just what had happened for him to become so closed off from you, wanted to know when your love story seemed to turn into a tragedy, so sure that it wouldn’t have a happy ending.
Spider-Man quickly made a name for himself and Peter was aware of the public opinion, of the supporters he had and of the enemies he was making. He was aware people tried to piece together who the man under the mask was and aware of how much some people wanted him gone. His bruised eye and busted lip as well as his sore muscles really hammered home just how much some bad guys really hated him but he was doing the right thing, just last night alone he had stopped several muggings, webbed a guy who was about to shoot up a shop and stopped a guy as he followed a woman home.
He was doing the right thing, he knew he was and yet as he saw you across the room, alone with an air of sadness around you, doing your best to seem busy even when he could tell you weren’t, his heart ached. He watched as you fiddled with the ends of your sleeves, saw how uncomfortable you looked and he knew it was wrong, the image was completely wrong because you weren’t supposed to be sad, you weren’t supposed to have a frown on your face and he was supposed to be next to you.
Instead he stayed as far away from you as possible, avoiding you so that you wouldn’t find out his secret. He couldn’t risk you, he would never do it. He knew you’d have rolled your eyes at him, knew you’d be furious at him for making the decision for you without giving you a choice but he couldn’t lose you. If somebody did somehow put together that Peter was Spider-Man then they would surely exploit every weakness he had and you were the biggest one he had. He would never put you in that position, no matter how much it hurt to see you this way.
He was doing the right thing, it was a mantra he repeated in his head, forcing himself to remember it every time he saw you.
Being forced to see Peter every day at school, to see him and not be able to touch him, to even speak to him was tearing you about, it felt like you were losing your mind. It was clear that whatever had caused him to pull away from you wasn’t going to fix itself. Peter seemed more than happy to hold onto whatever it was keeping you apart than to hold onto you. It was a thought that cut you deep, at one point you thought you were worth more to him than that but clearly not. As the days passed it became more and more obvious that when you told the story of you and Peter it wouldn’t be about love anymore but more about your descent into madness as you struggled to understand how things had gone so wrong.
You knew the relationship was done but neither one of you had uttered the words and despite knowing that it was the unavoidable outcome you were still scared for the ending, at least now there was the tiniest shred of hope but you knew it wasn’t worth holding onto anymore. All you wanted to do was curl up in his arms, tell him you missed him but you couldn’t, you didn’t even know how to speak to him anymore and yet despite the fact that no words had passed between the two of you the silence was louder than anything.
You had been waiting for it and yet when it happened it felt like you hadn’t been prepared at all, not when Peter walked up to your locker after school, running a hand through his hair as he asked if the two of you could talk. You’d nodded of course, knew logically how this conversation was going to go and yet somehow, somehow there was still a part of you hoping this was him ready to put aside whatever had happened and work it out together.
The two of you walked for a while until you came to a quiet spot and sat down side by side on an empty bench. It was a nice day out and you kind of hated it, it felt like it should be pouring rain, maybe storm clouds hanging over your heads whilst this conversation happened but instead there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sun shone brightly.
“I’m sorry, Y/N/N,” Peter began, finally breaking the silence that had settled between the two, “I’m so sorry for everything.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat as tears stung your eyes but you tried to blink them away as best you could, knowing there wasn’t a different ending to this story and wanting to get it done with, knowing it was going to hurt more the longer it was dragged.
As you sat at his side you allowed yourself a moment to draw comfort from having him this close, allowed yourself a moment to memorise him, not knowing if you’d have the chance again. There were so many things you wanted to say to him, were sure there was so much he wanted to say to you but those words would go unspoken, kept only for yourselves to know, never to be shared.
“Will you at least tell me what I did?” You pleaded, the question had been plaguing you for so long now and you just wanted an answer.
You watched as Peter turned to you, his own eyes wide and watery as he shook his head, hand reaching out for you before he pulled it away. You took a shaky breath, desperately trying to keep your tears at bay, wanting nothing more than to feel his touch but knowing you couldn’t.
“No, no baby,” Peter said, wincing as the word slipped out of his mouth without him meaning to but carrying on anyway, “this isn’t because of you, this is all me.”
“What happened? I thought we were happy.” You figured you weren’t going to get a solid answer, you thought you deserved one but weren’t holding your breath.
“We were. I’m sorry Y/N, I really am but I just…I have to protect you, even if you hate me at least you’ll be ok, you have to be ok and you won’t be, not around me. I can’t lose you, Y/N.” Peter told you, the words falling from his lips like he couldn’t stop them, him rambling as you looked at him in confusion, not making sense of the words.
“Peter, what are you talking about? I’ve always been ok around you, I’ve never felt safer than when I’m with you. You’re saying you can’t lose me and yet you’re the one walking away from us.” You couldn’t understand his reasoning. Confusion, anger, sadness all running through you as you looked at him.
“I can’t explain it, Y/N/N.” He whispered, looking away from you and down at his hands resting in his lap. “I want to, I really do but I can’t.”
His voice was thick with emotions, tears pooling in his eye, threatening to fall as were your own but you only took another breath and sat up straighter on the bench. This wasn’t the ending your story with Peter deserved, it wasn’t the one you ever thought it would get and yet here the two of you were, saying goodbye to everything you had together.
“I really hope it’s worth it.” You told him, voice barely a whisper as you choked back tears, standing from the bench.
You watched Peter straighten, watched his hand lift again to pull you back before he decided against it. He knew he had to let you go, knew it was the right thing even if it didn’t feel like it. He couldn’t risk losing you, you were too important to him.
Even so, as he watched you walk away from him, keeping his eyes on you until you disappeared from view he couldn’t help but think about your last words. Was being Spider-Man worth it? Yes it was, he made a difference, he saved people but having to lose you to do it left him feeling empty.
You forced yourself to walk away, forced yourself to hold the tears back until you were far enough away from him before you had to stop, sitting on the stairs of a random apartment block to finally letting the tears fall freely, not caring about any glances sent your way.
It seemed like such a terrible ending, so many good memories, amazing experiences together. The way he made you feel had just been thrown to the side, no longer good enough for him. It hurt more that you still didn’t know the reason behind the decision, hated that your mind would always focus on the what if’s now. This was not the ending you deserved with Peter, your story was supposed to be good, it had been good and yet the ending was playing out clearly in real time with you, alone, sobbing in the streets of New York and Peter left alone, still sitting on the bench with his own tears falling down his face.
That was the end of the story of you and Peter.

For as long as you could remember it had always been you and Peter, other friends came and went throughout the years but you and Peter had always been a constant in each other’s lives. You had gone through everything together, when your family’s business went bankrupt and you had to live with the Parker’s for a few months, when Peter’s parents died and he had chosen you to run away to. Every big moment, every little moment, no matter the memory Peter was almost always in it.
You never thought you’d have to imagine a life without Peter, it always seemed such an impossible thought. You were the best of friends, there were no secrets between either of you, you told each other everything.
Which was great for years, it worked well for the two of you, you knew the other better than you knew yourself. It was nice knowing you always had someone to confide in, no problem too big or small to share.
And yet now you hated the fact that nothing was kept a secret between the two of you, you hated the fact that you meet up with Peter every day before school, hated that it was so easy to forget that the rest of the world existed, right up until you walked through the doors and his gaze immediately sought her out.
Gwen Stacy.
Gwen Stacy who was top of every class, Gwen Stacy who was so stunningly beautiful you just knew you couldn’t ever even begin to compete with her. You didn’t stand a chance, not when you saw the way Peter looked at her, his expression completely softening, the way his lips pulled into an unconscious smile every time she walked into a room, the way he couldn’t walk into one without glancing around for her.
You didn’t stand a chance.
And because there were no secrets between you and Peter you got to hear all about his crush on her when he remembered you existed. Ok, so maybe that wasn’t fair, it wasn’t like Peter shut down on you whenever she was around but he always had an eye on her.
You and Peter always walked home together, usually hanging around in his bedroom since Aunt May was at work so it left the two of you alone. You didn’t know if you loved the alone time or hated it.
You couldn’t even remember when your own crush on Peter had developed, maybe it had always been there, there before you even really knew what a crush was, before you knew anything about relationships or love or any of those things. Maybe it had developed when you had a bad day and Peter was always there with open arms and ready to make a fool of himself if only to see you laugh again. Maybe it was in the way that there really wasn’t any distance between the two of you, whether it be with no secrets or the way you could crawl into the other's bed after sneaking in through the window and the other person didn’t react other than to make room and wrap their arms around the other. Maybe it was all the little things that seemed so insignificant to other people but you treasured so deeply that made you fall for him so easily.
It didn’t really matter when it happened though, only that it did. It happened and it hurt every day. You couldn’t even get a break on the weekends because whenever Peter came around Gwen always seemed to be the first topic on his lips.
And it wasn’t like you could say anything either, you couldn’t just demand he stop talking about her. Not without admitting you had feelings for him anyway and that wasn’t going to happen, not when you knew he didn’t feel anything for you. You would just have to sit and listen to him talk about her for hours at a time because you loved him and you couldn’t lose your friendship.
Still it hurt. It hurt when he asked you what you think he should do, how could he get her to notice him, what date ideas should he think of to ask her out. The worst of it was that you loved him so much you couldn’t even bring yourself to give him bad ideas, whenever he asked for your advice you gave him the best you could, gave answers you wished Peter would do for you, and you watched him use them on her.
You had gotten pretty good at faking a smile now around Peter, at pretending everything was ok until you were alone and you could let the hurt just hurt. It was so easy to picture you and Peter together too, nothing would change except the fact you’d know how his lips felt against yours, how his hand cupping your cheek to bring you closer would feel.
It didn’t matter how much you wanted to cry, not when you had to fake a laugh at his over dramatic love declarations that caused him to grin as he shoved you lightly, it didn’t matter because no matter how many damn stars you wished on nothing would change.
Sometimes you thought Peter knew, how could he not know that he was the reason you stayed up all night thinking about him, how could he not know that the reason for your tears was him, how was he so blind to the way you looked at him? If it were anybody else you’d think they knew but Peter wasn’t cruel, if he knew he wouldn’t be torturing you so much.
If you had thought things between you and Peter were hard when he was just pining after Gwen it was nothing compared to when he finally put all your advice to use and ended up getting together with her.
It was slow at first, you still saw Peter every day, still walked home together after school but over time it turned into less time together. You walked home together but after a few weeks Gwen joined you and you hated how kind she was, it’d be easier to hate her if she wasn’t so nice. Then it turned into you going straight home, not wanting to third wheel on them, not when it meant more time watching Peter look at Gwen like she was his whole world and you had somehow become nothing more than a passing thought, silently pleading for Peter to notice you.
It wasn’t much longer after that the time you and Peter spent together got less and less, no more hanging out after school, no more weekends together, no more sneaking into each other’s houses, no more sharing every thought that popped into your head.
That’s what hurt the most, the thing that left you crying silently to yourself each night. Peter had forgotten all about you and your heart hurt, it hurt so badly that you just wished you could stop feeling anything. It wasn’t even just Peter’s fault though, you wanted to blame him for it all but you were to blame too, you pulled away but Peter hadn’t caught you and pulled you back.
You hoped Gwen knew, you hoped she knew how lucky she was that she was the one that got to fall asleep in Peter’s arms, the safest place you’d ever been. You hope she knew how lucky she was that Peter had picked her to love, you hoped she would love him just as fiercely as he loved her, hoped she knew how lucky she was to be able to fall into those beautiful brown eyes and to know how his lips felt as he kissed her so softly like she was something to be treasured.
You really hoped she knew because you would never know.

You could safely say that falling in love with Peter Parker was the easiest thing you had ever done. Everything about him was easy to fall for. He had been your best friend for as long as you could remember, for so long it had been the two of you against the world. He had been there for all the good moments in your life and you had been there for his.
You’d known for years you were in love with him, long before either of you confessed it to each other. You had thought of telling him for a while but every time you’d thought you’d built the courage to do it you always backed out, not wanting to ruin your friendship.
It wasn’t until nearly two in the morning on some random night in fall when you heard a tapping on your window that things changed. You awoke with a groan, not having been asleep for long but exhausted from the day before.
At first you weren't sure what had woken you up, ready to just brush it off and let your eyes fall shut again. Just as you shifted in your bed, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself you heard more tapping and sat up with a frown.
It took a couple of moments for you to realise it was coming from your window and you felt a smile pull at your lips, wrapping the blanket around yourself because the room was cold. You climbed out of your bed and pulled your curtains back to see a masked Spider-Man grinning at you.
You were quick to push the window open, smile dropping as you took in the busted lip, bloody cheek and blackening eye. Peter didn’t seem all that fazed about it as he climbed in through the window, quickly catching a book he had knocked on his way in before it could make a noise and closed the window for you.
“Fun night?” You asked as you made your way to your desk, pulling out the med kit you kept handy ever since you’d found out that the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man happened to be your best friend.
“Yeah, it was great!” Peter grinned, causing you to wince as more blood leaked from his lips, Peter ignoring it as he relayed the events of his night, making himself comfortable on your bed.
As he spoke you gently got to work on cleaning the blood coming from the different spots on his face, knowing that his healing factor would take care of the rest and in just a few hours you wouldn’t even be able to tell that he had been hurt.
“Better?” You asked as you threw the bloody wipes onto your nightstand, along with the med kit, too tired to bother putting them away.
“Thank you.” Peter nodded, smiling softly at you before he pulled himself off the bed.
As he stripped out of the suit and opened your wardrobe for a pair of clothes you’d stolen from him months ago you fixed the blanket and settled back against the pillows, stealing a glance or two before he was dressed and climbing into bed with you.
The two of you had been sharing a bed since you were kids, back then it was fine, easy, he was just your best friend then but now, now it was different. It was harder to ignore your feelings when you were pulled against a warm chest, Peter’s arms wrapping around you, holding you close to him.
You were so stupidly in love with him that it hurt some days.
“Thank you for always patching me up.” He murmured into your hair and you smiled into his chest, smoothing your hand along his shirt.
“Somebody’s gotta watch out for Spider-Man whilst he’s saving the world.” You laughed, feeling the rumble of Peter’s chest as he chuckled.
The two of you were quiet for a while after that, your eyes had drifted back shut and you let yourself relax even more against Peter, selfishly savouring the way he felt wrapped around you, memorising the way his thumb automatically stroked soothingly up and down your hip, cherished the way you’d never felt quite as safe as you did in Peter’s arms.
“I love you.” Peter whispered into the dark, the words catching him by surprise.
He hadn’t meant to say that out loud. He hoped you had fallen asleep, hoped you hadn’t heard his whispered confession and yet another part of him wished you were awake to hear it. He wanted you to know that you were the one for him, that he’d been in love with you for longer than he could remember.
You were silent for a moment, not daring to move as though it would break the spell and Peter would take the words back, play them off as a joke. It took you a few more seconds before you were able to force yourself to move.
You shifted out of Peter’s grip only far enough away so that you could look over at him with disbelief on your face. It wasn’t that you didn’t believe Peter couldn’t love you, it was just that you had never let yourself think he could love you the way you had loved him for so long.
“Y/N/N,” Peter started, torn between backtracking or just admitting it all over again, thankfully he was saved from having to decide when you smiled at him and reached out to cup his cheek, your thumb gently brushing over his already healing cut.
“I love you too.” You whispered back to him, watching as he froze for a second as if he wasn’t registering the words before a smile broke out and his whole face seemed to light up the dark room.
“Really?” He couldn’t help but ask and you laughed softly as you nodded, Peter leaned in and pressed your lips together, both of you smiling too much for it to be more of a brushing of your lips before Peter pulled you even closer and kissed you properly, the kiss soft and slow as he cupped your own cheek.
By the time the two of you were forced to pull away for air, you were dizzy and breathing heavily, Peter resting his forehead against yours and feeling just as intoxicatingly dizzy as you did.
Your first kiss with Peter turned into two then three until you couldn’t recall how many kisses were shared on that first night alone, neither of you able to stop until the pull of exhaustion forced you away from each other and you were able to fall asleep in his arms, not having to feel guilty for how much you enjoyed it anymore.
It went on for months, you and Peter shocking nobody when you announced that you were dating. Aunt May pulled you into a hug and told you she’d been waiting for you two to figure it out since you were six years old causing you both to laugh and share smiles.
Everything was perfect. The two of you were made for each other. You weren’t surprised that nothing much seemed to change between the two of you, Peter and you were still attached at the hip both during and after school, Peter still knocked on your window more nights than not to crawl into your bed after patrolling, the only difference now was that the two of you could be open with how you felt and that you could pull him down for a kiss whenever you wanted.
“You look gorgeous, love.” Peter said as he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, resting his head on your shoulder as you looked at each other through the mirror.
Peter had never been shy with the compliments, even before you started dating he always seemed to want you to know how beautiful you were and yet somehow they never failed to make you blush.
“You don’t look so bad yourself, handsome.” You smirked, turning around in his hold to drape your arms around his shoulders, leaning in to press a kiss against his lips.
The two of you were finishing getting ready to head to Gwen’s, her parents were away for some business trips and since school had just ended it seemed like the perfect time for somebody to throw a party.
As you headed in you felt Peter’s hand resting against the small of your back. That was another thing about Peter, he seemed incapable of keeping his hands to himself around you, there was always some part of him attached to you.
You weren’t complaining of course, you loved that Peter wasn’t afraid to show you off, you loved the feeling of him close by. Peter had always felt like home, felt safe, you would never push him away.
Peter was like the life of the party whenever he walked into a room, he didn’t care who anyone was, he’d say hi to you if you were popular or not, he’d pour you a drink and hand you some snacks and draw you into a conversation if you looked left out.
It was truly a wonder how people hadn’t figured out he was Spider-Man, both of them cared so much for other people, always willing to take a hit before he’d let someone else take it, always looking out for others.
Peter headed off to get you both a drink and you found Gwen in the crowd, letting her pull you in for a hug before she immediately started talking to you. You laughed along with her, joining in with the group she was with and were only pulled away when Peter found you with two drinks in hand.
You smiled at him, continuing with what you were saying before you were cut off by Peter’s lips pressing against yours and you couldn’t help but laugh into it as the others around you cooed and giggled.
“I was talking.” You said once he pulled away, Peter grinning down at you as he passed you a drink.
“Sorry, you just look so beautiful tonight.” He told you, causing you to roll your eyes playfully even as you blushed.
A few drinks later and Peter stumbled over to you, a happy grin on his face, his eyes bright as he wrapped himself around you, nuzzling into your neck and placing soft kisses against your skin.
“Dance with me?” He whispered into your ear, placing a kiss against it.
You weren’t usually one for dancing but Peter kept pressing kisses along your shoulder and you couldn’t help but give in to him, letting him lead you to the living room which seemed to have been turned into a dance floor for the time being.
Dancing with Peter was just as intoxicating as all of thing involving Peter seemed to be, the way his arms wrapped around you, gripping your hips as he pulled your back to his chest, moving against you, his lips still mouthing at your neck whilst he nudged you to tilt your head for him as you moved to the beat of whatever song was playing.
Peter danced with you for a song or two before he was pulling away from your neck, trailing a series of kisses up to your ear.
“Let me take you home?” He whispered, his voice thick and heavy with want and you wanted him just as badly, nodding against him and letting him lead you out of Gwen’s place and back to yours.
You had noticed straight away when something shifted, Peter knocked on your window less and less as the weeks went on, the two of you were so close that you felt the loss immediately. When the two of you were together he acted differently, pulling away more and more and if you thought that was bad in public it was even worse.
Suddenly Peter, who was usually so open with his affection for you, treated you like you were a stranger. It was strange to go from having him always with you to him pulling away. You had tried to accept that maybe he just needed some distance, you did spend a lot of time together, maybe he just needed to be alone for a bit.
But after weeks passed where you would go days without receiving a reply from him, without feeling his arms around you or his lips against yours you didn’t know what to do. Something was obviously wrong but instead of talking to you about it he was pushing you further and further away.
Peter, meanwhile, was freaking out.
He had been swinging through the city, ready to call it a night as things seemed to be quiet and head over to your house when he heard somebody frantically calling out for him. His spider senses immediately honed in on the voice and he swung faster towards it, dropping into a crouch in front of a scared girl.
“What’s the matter?” He asked, scanning the scene for any danger but other than the girl's pale face and shaking hands there wasn’t anything out of place.
“Spider-Man,” she breathed out, looking at him in fear. “He told me to give you this.”
The girl held out a large thick envelope that caused Peter to frown. He hesitated for a moment before he took it off her but didn’t open it just yet.
“Who gave this to you?” He asked, watching as she shook her head.
“I don’t know, he just grabbed me and dragged me down here. He told me I had to make sure you got that or he’d hurt me.” The girl began to cry and Peter shushed her gently, pulling her up and wrapping his arm around her.
“I’m really sorry, will you let me walk you home?” He asked her softly and spent the next twenty minutes walking through New York, making sure the girl got home safely before he swung a few blocks away.
He landed on a rooftop and sat down, opening the envelope and feeling his heart stop when a picture fell out. It was a picture of you with Spider-Man and when he tipped the envelope out he saw dozens more of the two of you together, thankfully each time he was fully suited and masked.
‘The itsy, bitsy Spider-Man sure would be crushed if something happened to his little girlfriend.’
Peter’s blood ran cold as he tried to run through all the people he had dealt with recently but couldn’t think of anybody who would be furious enough to stalk him and threaten you. He had always been nervous about mixing you and Spider-Man but you both thought you were being careful.
Clearly he was wrong and now you were in danger because of him.
Putting space between you made Peter feel like the biggest jerk in the world but he knew if he told you it would cause you to panic. He didn’t want you looking over your shoulder every second of the day, startling at every sound you heard and being too scared to leave your apartment.
He was torn. Being away from you hurt but he had to protect you. He never thought he’d have to choose between you and Spider-Man, you had accepted his masked side immediately but now he had to protect you even if you never knew.
“Will you stop!” You exclaimed as you tried to catch up to Peter, the man had gotten good at avoiding you. “Seriously, tell me what’s going on!”
“There’s nothing going on.” Peter insisted as he stopped walking to let you catch up to him.
“Don’t lie to me, don’t do that. I haven’t seen you in weeks and you’re telling me we’re fine?” You cried, hating the way tears stung at your eyes but suddenly you were exhausted, being away from Peter for so long was wrong.
“Baby,” he sighed, stepping closer to you to cup your cheek. “I’m sorry, ok, I just…you’re right there is something wrong but not with us.”
“Tell me what’s wrong.” You pleaded and Peter’s own eyes filled with tears as he shook his head, leaning down to press your foreheads together and just savouring the feeling of having you so close.
“I love you so much.” He murmured, leaning down to press his lips against yours, kissing you so softly, so carefully, like you’d break if he was too rough.
“Peter, please just talk to me.” You begged when he pulled back but he shook his head again.
“I can’t baby, I can’t.” He told you tearfully, leaning in to kiss you one last time before pulling away. “Just do me a favour please.”
“Anything.” You told him sincerely, worried for him and wanting nothing more than to help him.
“Tell me you love me.” He asked, looking at you with wide, watery eyes that made your heart break.
“Of course I love you, you know that right?” You asked and he nodded at you, his lips thinning into a line as he fought back tears.
“Yeah, yeah I know that Y/N/N.” He forced his lips into a smile, taking you in before he knew he had to leave. “I gotta go baby.”
You went to open your mouth but Peter just shook his head, murmuring an apology before he raced away from you, leaving you standing in the street, watching as he blended into the crowd of strangers.
If you had known that would have been your last kiss with Peter you would have held him close a bit longer, you would have made it last until you were both gasping for breath, you wouldn’t have let him walk away without an explanation like the many years of your friendship, of your love meant nothing to him.
But you didn’t know that would be your last kiss with him, not until you got a call from Peter whilst you were in the shower. You hadn’t heard the phone ring but you smiled once you sat on your bed, changed into a pair of clothes you had stolen from Peter, to see a voicemail from him, it had been over a week since the last time you’d seen or heard from him.
“Um, hey…hey baby.” Peter said shakily and your smile immediately turned into a frown. “God, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. I should be doing this in person but I can’t, I can’t because it’d kill me to see you cry. I…Y/N, I have to break up with you. I’m so sorry, baby but I gotta. It’s for the best.”
For the best? How was him breaking up with you for the best?
“You did nothing wrong, Y/N, you need to know that. This is all me and God, Y/N, one day I promise you, one day I’m gonna make up for all of this but right now…just know that I love you so much, baby, I really do love you.”
Tears were streaming down your face by the time the message ended and you were left in silence, the only sound was your occasional sobs as you struggled for air.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to be, you and Peter were meant to be it, you were meant to be with only each other, that’s what you promised each other. It was always supposed to be you and Peter against the world.
Now you were alone, with no explanation as to why only a promise that he would fix it one day. You weren’t sure how he was supposed to fix this when he couldn’t even stomach being in the same room as you.
You and Peter had planned a future together, it was impossible to see it without him. You didn’t want to see it without him. You weren’t supposed to have a last kiss with him, he wasn’t supposed to be something you missed.
You were so set on a future with Peter, thought he was so sure about one with you that the idea of him changing his mind had never even occurred to you. You wish it had though because then maybe you would have expected this a little bit but nothing could have prepared you for this.
You didn’t want this to be the end of your story with Peter, this was never how you’d imagined it to end and yet there was nothing you could do to change it, the only thing you could do was hope that one day Peter kept his promise and made things right again.

“How long till May get’s here?” Y/n asked laying on her side against peter’s chest on the couch.
“Should be soon.” Peter answered glancing at the clock. “Why?”
“I have something I want to ask the both of you.” Y/n told him nuzzling into his side and wrapping her arms tighter around his torso.
“What is it?” peter asked rubbing her back, curious as to what she’d have to ask him and Aunt May.
“I want to ask the two of you together.” she stated smiling at how his voice was holding back how curious she knew he was.
“Wha- Why won’t you just tell me?” Peter’s voice whined a bit. They always told eachother everything right away. Why wouldn’t she just tell him now.
“Cause I want to wait for May. It evolves her to.” Y/n explained trying not to laugh at her boyfriend.
Peter groaned throwing his head back against the back of the couch, staring up at the ceiling. “Now that’s all I’m gonna think about!”
Y/n giggled at his behavior. Peter’s not used to her withholding information from him. But what she wanted to ask the two involved both her boyfriend and his Aunt. So he’d have to wait.
The young couple tried to watch some TV, but Peter kept asking her to just tell him. Each time she told him he’d have to wait, laughing at his lack of patience. Luckily enough for him, May came home.
“Oh thank Go-Goodness!” peter yelled, changing the last word with a single look from his Aunt.
“Hi, May.” Y/n greeted May, all the while laughing at Peter’s reaction to his Aunt finally being home. Y/n moved to sit up on her own while Peter moved to also sit upright on the couch.
“Hello, Y/n and Peter?” May Greeted Y/n back, looking confused towards her nephew’s behavior.
“Now can you tell us?” Y/n turned to face Peter with raised eyebrows, amused and shocked. “What?” Peter asked not ashamed.
“She just got home. Why don’t we give her a minute.” Y/n suggested, trying to give May a mintue to relax.
“What’s wrong with him?” May asked pointing at her nephew as she came into the livingroom, sitting across from the pair in a chair.
Peter sat up fats at her question, pointing at Y/n. “She has been making me wait for 42 minutes!”
“I wanted to ask the both of you something, together.” Y/n defended amused at her boyfriends’ actions.
With her words, Peter dramatically sighed falling back onto the couch next to Y/n. Both Y/n and May weren’t used to Peter being dramatic like this, but it was amusing.
“What’d you want to ask, sweetheart?” May spoke turning her attention to focus on the kind girl she had gotten to know over the last couple of years.
“My father is having a Christmas party. It’s just the Avengers and their families. I asked him if I could invite the two of you and he said he already planned on it.” Y/n told them smiling in hopes that May would say yes.
“Can we go?” Peter asked after some silence.
“Yeah. we’d love to.” May nodded smiling.
Y/n’s face lit up at the fact that they would come. She was hoping that they would but she also would understand if they didn’t. Y/n knew from personal experience how intimidating her family could seem. “Yay! It’s casual, you both can even bring pajamas for later in the night as well. You both can sleepover as well.”
“Ok. Tell your father- Tony thank you for inviting us.” May thanked the very happy girl.
“I will.” she nodded with a big smile.
“Thanks, May.” Peter gave his Aunt a grateful look.
Peter stood up offering Y/n his hand, she took it and the two moved across the apartment towards Peter’s room. Before they completely entered his room Y/n stopped turning to look at may who was starting dinner. “Oh, Happy will be there too. Just FYI.” Y/n smirked at the blush that came across the older woman’s face.
^ ^ ^
“Hey!” Y/n greeted running over towards the doorway, greeting May and Peter as they walked in. Hugging the both of them happily. “I’m so glad you both could make it.”
“Yes. It’s great to have you here with us May, Peter.” tony came up behind his daughter, also greeting the two. SMiling, glad that they indeed decided to come tonight.
“Thank you for having us, Mr.Stark.” May thanked the billionaire for having them. It has been just her and Peter for so long and it has been nice and enjoyable. But this could be the start of a new tradition. A nice one. A family.
“Tony, Please.” he told her waving off formalities. May gave a nod before Tony lead her more into the room with everyone else.
“Come on. I want to show you something.” Y/n smiled excitedly grabbing Peter’s hand. Dragging him off to look at all the distractions.
As the night went on it just got more fun. Everyone was joking and laughing with eachother. It was a comfortable setting. Tony had hired some of the best chefs in New York to make a bunch of food for everyone. An it was all delusions. Everyone had at least one gift to open around the tree that night, curiosity of Tony and Pepper. So everyone gathered around the Christmas tree to open presents. After presents, they all got seated around to watch some holiday movies, with the fire crackling in the background.
Peter and Y/n were cuddled up next to eachother on the floor in front of one of the couches. Y/n was leaning back between Bucky’s legs and peter between Bucky and Clint’s legs. Unlike her father Y/n and Bucky had gotten really close, practically like siblings and Clint had always been like an Uncle since he met the girl. It’s the father in him. Y/n angled her head up to whisper in Peter’s ear. “My dad has given May her own room for the night, right next to Happy’s.”
“What about me?” Peter asked pulling her closer by the waist.
“Well, you already have your own room here but dad said you could stay in mine. With me.” Y/n whispered in his ear, trying to be discreet.
“Really?” Peter’s voice was a tone of shock. Normally Tony Was very strict with them. Y/n being his daughter and all Tony is a very protective dad. Pepper had been trying to get him to lighten up on the young couple and maybe he was or it is just a Christmas miracle.
“He said no funny business and he’d make sure friday tells him if there is. But there won’t be. He trusts us more than he lets on.” Y/n nuzzled into Peter’s side. “Plus we’d never do anything with this many people in the compound. We’re both to loud for that.” she whispered smirking against his neck.
“And we don’t need to hear that.” Clint bent down between the to whisper as well, teasing the young adults.
“Agreed. And if we do hear anything I’ll never let either of you live it down.” Bucky added him and Clint smirking at eachother. Both adults enjoy teasing them.
Y/n and Peter laughed despite the teasing from the pair. Y/n lightly hit Bucky in the leg and shoved Clint’s. But despite that, they were smiling. Peter mirrored her facial expression before pulling her in for a kiss. “Merry Christmas, Y/n.”
“Merry Christmas peter.” Y/n smiled pulling him into a kiss. Of course, Clint and Bucky were making kissing noises behind them quietly so no one would notice. At least they were being discrete about it. Which the two appreciated. It was a very merry and enjoyable Christmas.
I Saw "Spiderman No Way Home"
Spoilers below⬇️
Okay so I saw "Spiderman No Way Home"
The sad parts were SAD 😢
The good parts were good
I loved how they kept the same villains
I loved how they brought in the other two Spidies
And I loved how they kept all the same actors!
I loved seeing the Spidies interacting with eachother!!!! I couldn't stop giggling it was awesome!
I expected the over all not happy ending cause Spiderman never gets an over all happy ending.
I HATE that he basically lost EVERYONE!
That sucked.
Although it has given me a few good ideas for some stories 😏🤫😉
So stay tuned......

It had been a hard few days but it made it all feel real today. Tony’s funeral was hard on everyone that came. Y/n knew Peter was gonna be one of the worst that took it to heart. He was so close with Tony it was to be expected.
“I don’t know what to say, and even if I did I don’t believe I’d know the right words.” Y/n walked along the dock to where Peter was sitting at the end of. Dangling his feet off the edge. She approached him silently, she didn’t know what to say. But she wanted to try, or at least let him know she was there for him.
Peter reached out behind him for Y/n’s hand. Peter pulled her to sit down next to him. The pair sat in silence for a while before Peter eventually spoke.
“Thank you.” he spoke breaking the silence between them. Peter felt so lucky to have her in his life.
Y/n tilted her head in confusion, not knowing why he would be thanking her. “For what?”
Peter squeezed her hand that he was holding, he pulled gently to get her to move closer to him. So they were completely touching, he smiled at her gratefully. “Being here. Just being here.”
Y/n nodded smiling back at him and squeezing his hand back. Y/n leaned over a bit and kissed his suit clad shoulder. “I’ll support you through this Peter. Any way I can.”
