As long as Hector lives, Achilles cannot die.
Hector is like a barrier, keeping Achilles from the underworld, and keeping Achilles and Patroclus together.
But suddenly, Patroclus dies.
And as long as Hector lives, Achilles cannot die.
Suddenly, Hector becomes a barrier, keeping Achilles from the underworld, and keeping Achilles and Patroclus apart.
That is what Hector did to Achilles.
He kept him from his love.
Feel free to add suggestions i’m running out of ideas

They were really just teenagers when they went off to fight
just two beautiful boys who Hector has done nothing to

in the fall of 2023 i read TSOA... this was amazing
Fun Fact - or not so much
Okay, so, in my new book, there's a couple who is based off of Patroclus and Achilles and y'all know that quote from Song of Achilles right?
“I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
My couple has various moments where "Patroclus" recognizes "Achilles" right away by the sound of him walking, or how he smells, or (when he's dying) by his touch as a reference.
I did that at random. I didn't plan it but still happened.
And now I'm crying.
Achilles: Can you see us on the mountain?
Thetis: No. Why do you ask?
Achilles: No. Reason.
*later at the mountain*
Achilles: SHE COULDNT SEE US. FOR THREE YEARS.
Patroclus: Oh?
Achilles: FOR THREE YEARS. SHE COULDN'T SEE US. FOR. THREE. YEARS.
Patroclus: Mhm.
Achilles: THREE. YEARS.
Patroclus: Mhm.
Achilles: WE COULDVE BEEN FUCKING. FOR. THREE. YEARS.
Patroclus: Mhm.
Chiron: i ship it.
Thetis: What the fuck
Achilles to thetis: *casually leaning on the side of a rock* hey, so, um, just wondering, hypothetically, can you see me up on mount Pelion?
Thetis: I cannot
Achilles: cool, coolcoolcoolcool, great, thanks. Anyway, I’ll be going now. Bye
(Achilles absolutely sprinting back)
Achilles to Patroclus: hey man, so, my mum can’t see us up here, wanna bang?
Y’all, I need help. I’m reading The Song of Achilles (absolutely fucking breathtaking book btw oh my god it’s amazing) and like every single interaction between Achilles and Patroclus is giving MASSIVE Anakin and Obi-Wan vibes (except the sexy ones), like I could just replace the names and it would work perfectly… but I read the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus as entirely romantic (because duh - that’s what the book is about, and also they have a lot of gay sex) and I read the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan as entirely platonic, brotherly. And I’m of the belief that the romantic love and platonic love only differ in root feeling, and they don’t differ in behaviors, and the way you describe loving someone so incredibly strongly is the same across all types of love - so I’m guessing that the characterizations of each individual character color how I interpret the relationships they’re involved in, and that’s why I read the exact same interactions and behaviors (and codependency) as romantic for one pair of characters and as platonic for a different pair? But it’s still confusing me, especially because I’m getting writing inspiration and wanna rewrite certain SoA scenes with Anakin and Obi-Wan but in the context of SoA, I still interpret those scenes romantically?
Anyway I would love for someone in both fandoms to weigh in on this, because I’m just confusing myself now lol
My brother (7.5) obsessed with Greek mythology.
I'm so proud of him 🥹
Maybe one day he will read pjo and tsoa

I hate myself for this
I wonder how bored I was when I thought of doing it
OK, but what if Achilles took Pat's armor and came with him? Like, the Trojans would still think Pat is Achilles, and Achilles could look at Pat and see if anyone tried to kill him.

I just want to hug him
I just realized my favorite characters are Achilles and Odysseus.
I love characters with sea god issues and leg problems who cried the whole book

these are my babies, and if you hurt them - you die (shash, none of them is dead)
