Currently trying to farm 6k crystals to get to 200 pulls for Project Sekai's anniversary before festival Miku disappears.

My grandmother is an old lady and refers to us, her grandchildren, as "young man"/"young lady" all the time bc apparently that's just an old people thing. I went over to her house a while ago because she plans to paint the kitchen and whatnot and would like me to help. While I was there, I addressed how I'd prefer if she didn't use gendered terms for me because, well, I just prefer it that way (and because terms for my agab kinda rub me the wrong way, but I wasn't feeling like explaining all that to her right then and there). She said, "Sure" and we moved on. I barely remembered that this even happened because since coming out a few years ago, nobody has ever really cared or done anything to acknowledge my preferences/requests. But, today, she called me on the phone because of the kitchen and whatnot.

Today was the first time since coming out three years ago that someone apologized to me for "misgendering" me. My grandma called and said her usual "Good morning young [gendered term fit for my agab]- Oh! Sorry! (...)" I didn't even know what she apologized for at first until I talked to her face to face later in the morning, when she apologized to me again. She said that she didn't mean to hurt me by saying what she said and that it was just a force of habit.

I am non-binary. I use gender-neutral, feminine, and masculine terms for myself. Today was the first time since coming out that I felt like someone truly acknowledged and recognized that. Nobody in my family uses my chosen name. Nobody in my family refers to me with anything but the pronouns and terms that fit my assigned gender at birth. My grandma doesn't do any of that either, and I don't expect her to. But she apologized for saying something I told her I'd be uncomfortable with.

Point is, I love my grandma and will now cry in a corner.

I came to Tumblr for the Redacted fandom and now a good 89% of my activity on here is looking at cat memes all day.
