Accomodation - Tumblr Posts
If i’d’ve known that pain wasn’t normal maybe I’d have the accommodations I need in life
One of the first things children should be taught in health class is what constitutes a ‘normal able body’—that being alive should not hurt. They should explain the pain scale in depth and what it means and how to listen to your body. Not only will this teach kids the importance of taking care of yourself and monitoring how you feel, but it could vitally assist in identifying disabilities at younger ages, thus hopefully giving them the chance to live a better life.
This may seem stupid to people who have never experienced chronic pain, but as someone who has been in near full body pain for 3/4ths of my near 22 years of life, if I had been taught this kind of stuff at a young age I would have been able to identify what I was experiencing and discuss it better with the doctor. I was in such constant pain I thought it was normal to feel like that and my parents just kept telling me it was growing pains. Once I got older, I was diagnosed with depression before my physical pain symptoms were addressed and it took me years to convince my doctors that it wasnt psychosomatic
I actually finished and turned in an essay on time last night. That’s the first time since high school that I haven’t used an extension on an essay!!!
I’m heading to universal today and I’m SO EXCITED!!! I’ve got my crutches and my new Bat Pants (picture included). I really hope today goes well. I couldn’t find my salt pills but here’s hoping I can find salt or something if I need it. I’m going to try and get a disability pass to help avoid standing in lines for super long.

Does anyone have any tips for going to Universal Studios Hollywood while disabled (chronic pain, hypermobility, pots, and autism)?
I’ll have forearm crutches but I’m not sure if that’ll be enough or what not. Also if I were to rent a chair to get around does anyone know how accessible rides are? (I wouldn’t need to be in the wheel chair in the ride or experience etc. Just maybe to get up to the loading place idk)
But seriously any help would be much appreciated
So, kinda adding on to my post from this morning my pain is worse than it normally is but not extraordinarily so and it’s taken till the end of today to really start to get bad so I’d say my universal trip was a success and the accommodations and crutches really helped to lower my pain yesterday and today

I have never felt more seen than this pallet jack makes me feel. This is what it feels like for me to be disabled. This applies to me in many ways but perhaps most literally I am physically very strong but my joints are shit so combine those two things and I come out as a pallet jack

I hate hate hate classes that have a no absence policy. I can’t make it to my classes today because I am in too much pain and because of that I’ll lose points. Why am I punished for having a shitty body arugh
