I rly hate the Satanic Panic & the moral panic surrounding violence in video games in the 90s, coz it's now impossible to talk about the social implications of violent video games in a realistic sense.

No, violence in video games does not create serial killers in the way most people imagine it would.

However, it's very important to notice how after 9/11, a lot of violent video games pivoted their content from silly gratuitous cartoon gore to more realistic military shooters set in the Levant from a US American lens. It's also important to notice the connection of these games & their toxic online multi-player voice chats to Gamer Gate in 2014.

It's obviously not as black & white as it was presented in the 80s & 90s, I dont think everyone who played early Call of Duty games is a white supremacist who wants to join the military to kill people in the middle east, but I think it's dangerous to pretend like video games or any media can't have an impact on the way people think about violence.

I think what makes all the difference here is how that violence is portrayed, what the message behind it is, what the motives are behind the people who crafted that message, who the victims of that violence are, how they are portrayed & the greater cultural context that surrounds it.

From what i've noticed, Proshippers are obsessed with criticism or criticism of why such a relationship is problematic, they say they are harassed, even though they have the same habit of harassing those who criticize them.

So, if the Proshippers really care about protecting children, so, don't post some humanshit whining about people making criticism, or being a such hypocrites. I personally am kind of on the edge abt it, because on one hand, there are things that pro shippers support that make me feel real uncomfy, like incest or pedophilia. But on the other, antis really degrade people who age up characters for ships or create loopholes within a fanon/canon concept so that technically it's fine (which is what I do), and then put it all under one umbrella term of pro shipping.

Then there's the whole argument where "it's just fiction so it doesn't really matter," but I've heard of a couple of instances where a pro shipper has cooerced someone underage to do something they didn't want to do, which could totally not be related, but it feels like there's a connection between what those people are interested in and what they do. I just wanna seek some advice about it, I'm kinda new to the pro shipping concept, and some ships they support just make me feel like: 🤨😰😔

In general, proshipping is frowned upon. I've been in the fandom for years, as long as I can remember I've been in fandoms being someone more passive than active in a community.
