Another sad AOT post (WARNING: It's kind of long because of the pictures :)). I saw a bunch of TikToks and Tumblr posts about random sad AOT facts and then I thought about some of the ones I saw a little more, and I realised something so damn ironic and sad.
Majority of the main characters who died never achieved their goal or desires, regardless of how trivial it was:
Eren never achieved freedom for himself and was rather a slave to it. He also never got to live his life in peace with Mikasa and Armin like he wanted
Sasha never got to see her people take back their island from the titans (and those who hated Eldians) and farm for more cattle like she wanted. Even after Paradis became "independent" and the titans disappeared, she had to fight in the Survey Corps until she died
Hange never got to see a flying titan and never got to properly ride on the Cart Titan's back
Erwin never got to the basement and never found out the secret of the titans
Petra never got to marry Levi (regardless of who you ship with Petra or Levi in AOT, it is canon that she liked him)
Bertholdt never confessed his feelings to Annie and never got to date her like he wanted
Ymir never got to marry Historia
Hannes never got to avenge Eren's mother, Carla, because he was eaten by the same titan who ate her
Kenny Ackerman never obtained the power of the Founding Titan like he wanted and never got to see the world the way Uri did
Keith Shadis never got to become a hero or "someone special." As the watchers, we can think of him as a hero who sacrificed himself to help humanity, but in the show itself, no one will remember his name because they didn't even know he was on the boat and they didn't know he helped them before they left the port.
Zeke never got to experience life after he finally felt that he wanted to live again. He had a very late realisation of this, but it still counts. After Armin reminded him in the Paths about why we as humans continue to live, he decided that he wanted to live again after reminiscing about his time with Mr Ksaver. Levi killed him before he could
Compared to all the characters who lived and either achieved their goal or never really had goals in the first place, it just makes me so sad thinking about the irony of it all. All those who died, morally grey or not, never got to achieve their dreams because of their circumstances and the cruel world they were born into. Isayama when I catch you

Y/N awoke to darkness, a thick blindfold tightly wrapped around her eyes. Her wrists ached from the restraints biting into her skin, and the cold, hard surface beneath her sent shivers down her spine. She struggled to remember how she ended up here, panic slowly rising in her chest.
Footsteps echoed in the distance, slow and deliberate. She froze, heart pounding, as they drew nearer. The blindfold was yanked off, and she blinked rapidly, trying to adjust to the dim light. A tall, shadowy figure loomed above her, and as her vision cleared, she recognized him.
"Bertolt?" she whispered, disbelief coloring her tone. His usually gentle face was etched with an unsettling intensity, a fervent glow in his eyes that she'd never seen before.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," he murmured, crouching down to her level. "I didn't want to do this, but you left me no choice."
She stared at him, trying to reconcile this version of Bertolt with the quiet, kind boy she had known. "Why? Why are you doing this?"
He sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. "You don't understand how much I care about you. Every time I saw you with someone else, every time you smiled at them instead of me, it tore me apart. I couldn't stand it anymore."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she struggled against the ropes. "Bertolt, this isn't right. You can't just... take me like this."
His expression softened, and for a moment, she caught a glimpse of the Bertolt she once knew. He reached out, gently brushing a tear from her cheek. "I know it's hard to understand now, but I'm doing this for us. For our future."
"You can't force someone to love you," she whispered, voice trembling. "This isn't love, Bertolt. This is obsession."
He flinched at her words, but the determined look in his eyes didn't waver. "Maybe it is. But I don't care. As long as you're with me, I can protect you. I can make you see how much you mean to me."
The door creaked open, and Bertolt stood, casting one last, lingering glance at her. "Just give it time, Y/N. You'll see. You'll understand."
As he walked away, she felt a sinking dread settle in her stomach. She was trapped, alone with a boy whose love had twisted into something dangerous and suffocating. And as the door closed behind him, she was left with nothing but the chilling echo of his footsteps and the oppressive weight of his obsession.
Hours passed in the dim room, the silence broken only by Y/N's ragged breathing and the occasional creak of the building settling. She tugged at the ropes again, but they held firm, chafing her wrists and sending spikes of pain shooting up her arms. Desperation clawed at her insides as she tried to devise a plan. There had to be a way out.
The sound of a key turning in the lock jolted her from her thoughts. The door opened, and Bertolt stepped in, carrying a tray. He set it down on a small table and approached her, his expression softening when he saw the fear in her eyes.
"I brought you some food," he said quietly. "You must be hungry."
Y/N glared at him, defiance warring with her hunger. "I don't want anything from you," she spat.
Bertolt's shoulders sagged, but he didn't retaliate. Instead, he simply sat down beside her, his large frame making the room feel even smaller. "I know you're angry," he murmured. "I understand. But I'm doing this for us, Y/N. You have to believe that."
She turned her head away, tears of frustration blurring her vision. "You can't keep me here forever," she said, her voice breaking. "Someone will come looking for me."
He sighed, a pained look crossing his face. "I know. But by the time they find us, you'll understand. You'll see that we belong together."
Days turned into weeks, and despite her initial resistance, Y/N found herself growing weaker. Bertolt was always there, a constant presence, watching over her with a mix of tenderness and possessiveness that made her skin crawl. He took care of her needs, bringing her food and water, but he never loosened her restraints.
One evening, as the sun set and bathed the room in a soft, golden light, Bertolt sat down beside her again. He looked different this time, more vulnerable, as if the weight of his actions was finally starting to wear on him.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" he asked quietly.
Y/N didn't respond, but her silence encouraged him to continue.
"It was at the training camp. You were struggling with your gear, and I offered to help you. You smiled at me, and in that moment, I knew I wanted to protect you. To keep you safe from everything."
She closed her eyes, the memory bittersweet. "I remember," she whispered. "But this isn't protection, Bertolt. This is imprisonment."
He reached out, gently taking her hand in his. "I know it seems that way now. But one day, you'll see that everything I've done was for you. For us."
As the days continued to pass, Y/N's hope began to wane. The reality of her situation settled over her like a suffocating blanket, and she realized that escape might be impossible. Bertolt's love had twisted into something dark and unrecognizable, and she was trapped in his web, with no way out.
One night, as she lay awake in the darkness, she heard Bertolt's soft, steady breathing beside her. For the first time, she allowed herself to really look at him. The boy she had once considered a friend was now a stranger, his face marked by the weight of his obsession.
In that moment, she made a silent vow. If there was any chance of escape, she would take it. She would find a way to break free from Bertolt's twisted love, no matter the cost.
But for now, she had to bide her time, waiting for the right moment. Because no matter how deep Bertolt's obsession ran, Y/N knew that her will to survive was stronger. And she would not let him control her fate
And, after 4 months, I finally got the motivation to finish this β (οΌ΄β½οΌ΄)

I didn't expect Bertholdt to win lol. Back a couple years when I was in my AoT bullshit I was a die hard fan and simp for him. But many people hated him and would shit on me for liking him so I'm happy to see that people like him. It makes me happy that he is getting the love he deserves :,) So without further ado here is....
Yandere Alphabet w/ Bertholdt Hoover
Affection β how do they show their love and affection?
He'll leave lingering touches on your body and always give you small things. Like flowers he found or something you said you wanted/mentioned.
Blood β how messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?
He would get messy but prefers not to. Now he wouldn't massacre a whole town unless necessary, maybe only slit a few throats if need be. He much rather deal with people in other means.
Cruelty β how would they treat their darling once abducted?
He is not too cruel but step outta line and his words will be harsh and if needed you might get slapped. He doesn't want to hurt you but your hurting his feelings by trying to escape and physically hurt him.
Darling β aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darlingβs will?
I don't see him forcing himself on you unless somehow someway Reiner got into his head how if he doesn't Darling will never love and respect him. Bertholdt really needs to be pushed over the edge of have some serious convincing by only Reiner that he needs to do it. Bertholdt wants to have you willingly and it makes him psychically ill just to think about forcing himself on you.
Exposed β how vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?
He can be pretty vulnerable especially when you fall to Stockholm syndrome. He will open up about himself and his past. But in the early stages he is more weary about opening up but still bears some of his heart out for you.
Fight β how would they feel if their darling fought back?
He wouldn't like it and would be upset. On one hand he understands why your acting this way. He kidnapped you away from your loved ones but, on the other you should love him because he protects you and cares for you and will do anything for you. You were meant to be his and he was meant to be yours why can't you except that?
Game β is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?
He wouldn't like it. It's not fun it's not amusing infact everything but that. It pisses him off and he wishes you wouldn't do this to him. Do you you know how much he panics we he finds you gone from your room. He breaks out into tears and tears up the whole place and spends forever searching for you.
Hell β what would be their darlingβs worst experience with them?
He would threaten darling and their family and prove he is not bluffing, comes back with one of the relatives items(or hand). He only did this because darling was acting up and tried to escape.
Ideals β what kind of future do they have in mind for their darling?
One where you can live peacefully in Marley with him. Reiner visits every so often and your a loving stay at home darling. Bertholdt is obviously the money maker and he makes sure his sweet darling has everything they need and want.
Jealousy β do they get jealous? How do they handle it?
He does get jealous because he is a little insecure. When Reiner comes over he can't help but feel jealous of him. He's muscular and confident and great with people. Sure Bertholdt is tall and somewhat strong and can manage conversations here and there. But he doesn't have big muscles and isn't really confident and conversations quickly die as soon as they start. So when Reiner comes over and starts to cling around Darling more than necessary and Bertholdt is getting real jealous. He'll walk over to Reiner and start to push him towards the door and ignore his comments and tells him to leave and he is making Darling uncomfortable. He then quickly grabs Darling in his arms and holds them for a while.
Kisses β how do they act around or with their darling?
He is gentle and kind. He is mostly just a obsessive and possive yandere. So he is still semi normal around you just more clingy and you never go out.
Love letters β how would they go about approaching their darling?
He would probably slowly insert himself in your life. He would appear here and there and try to talk to you. Then he would befriend you and be glued to your side. He would try to date you normally but if that doesn't work when you go on a mission he'll fake your death. But in truth he kidnapped you and now your living in a secret house with him and occasionally Reiner.
Mask β are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Not really. He still nervous around you, but a little more talkative and bold.
Naughty β how would they punish their darling?
He would chain you up and strip you of your senses. You can't see, hear, and your submerged in water some times. You won't know what's happening until it happens.
Oppression β how many rights would they take away from their darling?
He would take away your freedom. You can't go anywhere until he allows it. If you are allowed outside it's definitely not in town just in the yard and you have a leash on to make sure you don't escape. You have privacy to an extent but abuse it and it's all gone.
Patience β how patient are they with their darling?
He's pretty patient and willing to wait for his darling. Until darling spits in his face and it's looking like they won't submit willing. Then he might snap.
Quite β if their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
If darling dies he will be broken and might forget everything and shut himself away. If they leave he's hurt and upset and will stop at nothing to get you back. And when he does he is not the same gentle giant he once was. He will never move on no matter what happens you mean too much to him.
Regret β would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling?
Yes. He feels bad you can't see your family and friends anymore. But this is what's best for you and you need to understand it. You don't need anybody, but him only he can fulfill your needs.
Stigma β what brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?
He never had anyone special and the person he did love didn't give a damn about him. He always wanted someone to hold and to have.
Tears β how do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
He hates it. It makes him feel shitty and he wants to comfort you and explain how this is for the best. He hates hearing your broken painful screams. It breaks his heart for you to isolate yourself from him.
Unique β would they do anything different from the classic yandere?
You actually have body autonomy. He doesn't whip you and he's actually very sweet just obsessive and possessive. He won't ever force you to do anything sexually unless you want too. He is aware of how he acts and knows your scared so he let's you know he wont do anything like that to you unless you want it.
Vice β what weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?
How he can be away for a while and he is sensitive. When he is gone darling can try to escape. Also sensitive in general wether sexually or emotionally. So get him weak and you might have a shot at overpowering him.
Witβs end β would they ever hurt their darling?
Physically? I don't think so. Emotionally and mentally? Most likely yes. He doesn't want to but if he needs to do be it. And it will be slow and drive Darling crazy to a point they break down.
Xoanon β how much would they revere or worship their darling?
He thinks your a god/goddess sent from above to help him survive in this terrible world. You give him hope and he doesn't want anyone tainting you.
Yearn β how long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
1-2 years. He's a little slower than most yandere's but remember he wants you willing. So if it takes a year or so that's okay for him.
Zenith β would they ever break their darling?
Accidentally yes. He didn't mean to but sometimes things happen. He's a little upset but at least now your compliant.
