i guess my gripe with people who are just writing off the tv show as lore-breaking and bad without watching it is that the show itself actually addresses a lot of the complaints that fandom always makes and people are instead taking information out of context to rage bait about it.
"why isn't civilization advancing" it WAS advancing! shady sands was a beautiful city with thriving crops and a bus system. it got burned down because vault tech is not interested in letting civilization advance on their own terms.
"why can't fallout ever be hopeful" the season ends with infinite renewable energy being implemented into the world so that society can finally start healing and advancing. it's just currently at the hands of the wrong people.
"why does bethesda hate the NCR and have such a boner for the brotherhood" this one makes me laugh because the show portrays the NCR as ultimately the ones who are really trying to help the world in meaningful ways and it portrays the brotherhood as these big cultish losers who are obsessed with the past. the show even points out that their obsession with the past makes no sense.
"why was shady sands nuked in 2277" it wasn't. it started to DECLINE in 2277 and eventually it got nuked at a later date.
"why is everyone on the surface portrayed as savages" because lucy is the POV character and that's how she initially sees them. she was literally raised to be a colonizer and her view eventually gets challenged first with the inhabitants of vault 4 and then when moldaver explains to her the real history of shady sands and her father's involvement with the state of the world.
i love lucy/cooper but i also think the canon romance writing on lucy/max is good? two young people, brainwashed by different cults run by old people trying to force things to be their way. both will break free and make something new together
even their different povs on sex fit with that - max is a virgin who is completely clueless *because the Brotherhood* did that to him - and Lucy thinks of sex as either simple casual fun or to "breed" - because the indoctrination of vault 33 shaped her that way
imo it's a frank and visceral show - so i am pretty sure we're going to see them have sex for the first time and when they do it will be about Making Love - it will be a first for both of them and something they've come to that doesn't fit either form of indoctrination they were subjected to
i really dig it. strong canon romance writing! both characters are well handled and their journeys mesh together well in a romantic story.
I'm a multishipper here because i want to think of lucy with EVERYONE interesting -- because each ship brings out different sides of her potentially -- lucy/steph?? dark and interesting. lucy/coop? ooh yeah bang your dark side girl! lucy/max? strong canon romance writing of the two young people who want to be, each in their own way, knights/cowboys and have to figure out what that means to them free from the brainwashing.
Fallout spoilers + minor theorizing:
As much as I like the idea of Lucy x the Ghoul, I'm 99% positive the show is going down the route of him ending up being some sort of a father figure to her. Not just saying that because it's trying to set her up with Maximus.
Hank turned out to be evil and flew his ass over to New Vegas, so now Lucy's without a dad (one she respects at least) and Cooper is still without the daughter he's been looking for all these years (and is continuing to look for. Whether she's alive or not, or her condition, no one knows).
Not to mention, I think that whole scene with the finger is symbolic of that. Lucy bit off Cooper's finger in defence when they were enemies, and in turn he cut off one of hers and stitched it back onto him in place of his old one. Lucy is quite literally a part of him now.

If I had a nickel for every time there was an honestly really good darkly comedic show starring a young, naive woman who learns about the darkness of the world but doesn’t let it change her, her loser boyfriend who’s desperate to feel some control in the world, which also featured a manipulative, chaotic, charming, awesome man with an accent and featured a scene where someone reluctantly cuts a dead guys body part off, that’s really a satire about corporate greed by fucking AMAZON, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Y’know what, gamers, I’m confiscating your prestige tv adaptations until you learn how to behave like respectful people with basic human decency towards female, queer, and poc characters and even more so their actors
Tom Lehrer is to Fallout what Starship Troopers is to Helldivers 2.
Thoughts on Dogmeat
I’ve been mulling over something about our beloved Dogmeat from the series, and I think I’ve got a theory worth sharing.
Possible spoilers for the first 10 minutes of Episode 2 in the Fallout TV series.
So, as we all know, Dogmeat changes from game to game (yes, even though Tactics and 76 are exceptions—let’s not get into that right now). Recently, in Fallout 4, Dogmeat is a German Shepherd, which got me thinking: how did such a purebred-looking dog end up wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland, looking so different from the other dogs we've seen?

Here's where it gets interesting. Enter CX404, a Belgian Shepherd bred by the Enclave. Belgian Shepherds and German Shepherds look quite similar but are different breeds. CX404 was raised on the West Coast Enclave base, while Dogmeat was found around Concord, Massachusetts—pretty far apart geographically.

But here’s my theory: the Enclave had a presence in the areas of Fallout 3 and 4, so it’s not too far-fetched to think they might have also been breeding dogs in the Fallout 4 region. Maybe Dogmeat's purebred look could be linked to the Enclave’s breeding programs, suggesting that Dogmeat might be an Enclave-bred German Shepherd who somehow ended up in the wasteland.
Or, who knows? Dogmeat could be a synth, or just an amazing dog who’s had a lot of adventures.
Either way, Dogmeat is awesome, and we might never know all the details of his story. What do you all think?

She got that Walton Goggins hairline

Don’t worry I love Walton I swear
Watched more of fallout and I'm convinced the people praising it are the kind of people to watch firefighter rescue shows and clap at the end of them daily this shit is so nonsensical and ass-backwards on top of already being mediocre but with the occasional fallout visuals. Is that really all it takes for people to shut their brains off and love this so much??? It's like my sanity is being drained I hate this show so much 😭😭😭

The series reminded me why I fell in love with Fallout all those years ago
It's a het ship to YOU. To ME, they are both incredibly bisexual.
are there any pages that you can think of that need work that people could get their edits from?
!!!
if you see any room for improvement on the disability rep page feel free to add or tweak however feels right to you. it might be revised but it will probably stick. i'm sure there's stuff we missed, or could word better
another approachable first edit would be going to any talk page on something you're interested in & requesting information or visuals you didn't see on the page, or identifying room for improvement. like whatever you can think of. sincerely expressing what new content you'd be interested in as a fallout fan is a useful contribution to the community & will inform the culture of the wiki. (sign comments with "--~~~~")

you can request whatever you'd like to see! if your suggestion goes unaddressed you can mention it to me on my talk page and i'll do my best.
you can also just do your best & make any non-destructive change you want. sincerely go nuts. you might get revised or questioned at first but you will still have an immediate impact. as long as you're trying to help & can roll with peer review, then yall will make the place a lot better just by speaking up and/or hanging out a little
i decided the pages for puppet man and the moth cult should be gonzo and fun, and i made it so. i wanted to acknowledge that indigenous fans sometimes claim Benny so i did. i created the disability rep page without asking anyone & it's a 10k word community project. i added a section about christianity to the CoA page because i had a bunch of stuff to observe. sometimes when people delete one of my sentences i clarify with a sourced essay.
this place has changed rapidly. if you observe something true and interesting about the world or history of Fallout, people will want to hear it, and there's probably a way to communicate your observation on the page. Fallout belongs to fans & it's called lore for a reason. just be yourself, and have fun!🚀🚀🚀🚀

Just Jinx hanging out with a strange woman that’s sounds like her.

Lucy MacLean says: Trans Rights
Watching Boom and then immediately watching the final episode of Fallout feels so right? Like, both have such strong anti-capitalism messages about war and warfare in the future.
Spoilers below cut for Fallout 1x08 and Doctor Who 1x03
"Flashy lights play well in a show room. Modern warfare. Death by salesman." - The Doctor to Ruby.

And then hearing...
"Because, in our current societal configuration, which took shape without intentional guidance, we have friction [...] we have conflict, and we have war. And war? Well, war never changes."

While businessmen and women discuss experiments on people, all in the name of "creating a good society"? Making 122 vaults, many of which actively existed to see how fucked up they could make people behave.
And throughout Boom, there is constantly a "Thoughts and prayers" quote being said (which is the go to response for people in need, in wars, or in active hostile environments), a company literally making soldiers kill each other? (Which happened in vault 11)
Both of these shows are being streamed on massive corporations, DW on Disney+, which generated 8.4 BILLION last year (only increasing since it's initial launch, as it has removed many shows and movies from other sites). And Fallout on Amazon Prime, which had gotten 35.22 BILLION in revenue last year, as well has being known (practically globally) as a company that uses and abuses it's workers, but has made itself such a staple in so many places, that it is physically impossible to not support them in some way, and some can only use them.
But Doctor Who has always been a show about anti-war and anti-capitalism. To have such a show go to the hand of one of the biggest mega corporations is such a shame, it is incredible that they can have Moffat come back and basically flip the house of mouse off and shit in their toilet all while getting paid, and have that approved? awesome.
Fallout has always been about how war is horrible, and how fucked up humans are, giving a rare glimmer of hope towards something attainable, and Amazon Prime taking this media and making it a show? All while ignoring what the message is? Incredible. Perfect.

Probably my favourite character so far
