In fanfiction there is a difference between being a good writer and a popular writer.
Just because you can write a well-structured story with dynamic and consistent writing and characters doesn’t mean you will be popular. And sometimes stories that have disorganized plots, mediocre writing, and/or OOC characters will be held up as the greatest things to ever exist.
Just because your writing isn’t popular doesn’t mean you are a bad writer. Don’t ever compromise who you are, who your characters are, your plot, your writing style, anything for the sake of readership.
There are popular writers everywhere. But there are only so many good writers.

Okay so Alice in borderland- Chishiya.
You know how he is always wearing that jacket of his? Well what if chishiya was dating someone at one point. They were kind of the only one he trusted there. The person (reader?) was someone who always came back from the games, and was known for being back by a certain time (let’s say 8-9). One day when it’s their turn to play reader and chishiya got put in two different games. Chishiya believing that they would always come back didn’t make much of a fuss but didn’t want to split. Time passes and chishiya’s group comes back but no sign of reader, chishiya going off to the readers room like normal waiting for them to come back, find their favorite oversized (for the reader’s hight) jacket slipping it on. After hours had flown by he began to worry, the reader has yet to come back, fanning out to find them wearing the jacket. Eventually they were found but when he saw them his whole world took a crash; there lay dead was the one person he had grown to care for in the borderlands impaled by a steel pipe sacrificed or protecting he may never know. He never let anything happen to that jacket since he found her like that.

Chishiya didn't really cared about love. He thought it would only make him weak, and it was true. Things changed when he met Y/n. The person that would change his life. You and Chishiya have been friends for 7 years now. He found himself getting closer and comfortable with you. At first, he didn't really cared. But everytime he's with you, he just couldn't stop himself from liking you even more, until he gave in and finally confessed. It was awkward at first, but you realized that you love him back.

"Are you sure you want to split?" he asked, as he sit down on your bed.
"Chishiya, I'll be fine, I promise, okay? I'll be back, pinky promise." you said pointing your pinky finger to him as he slowly put his pinky finger into yours, intertwining them.
"Promise." you say once again, and headed to your next game.
"I love you." Chishiya stated.
"I love you too, babe." was all you said while walking out of the door. You and Chishiya usually played together in games. He hated the fact that he can't live without you. He puts his hand into his pocket while he walks out heading for his next game, already missing you.
Hours passed by and Chishiya already came back from his game. It was around 7:30 at that night. He entered your room and patiently waited for you. Minutes felt like hours without you.
Chishiya was worried about you. It's been 1 hour. You usually come back from games 8:00 or 9:30.
"Please come back." He thought.
It's now 9:30 he's extremely worried. He saw your favorite oversized jacket and put it on, hoping that you'll come back anytime soon.
He finally exited your room and decided to find you. He searched every corner, every room at the Beach, he still couldn't find his lover.
After hours of searching for you, he goes up to the rooftop hoping that you were up there, but you weren't. He watched the moon, wishing that you were somewhere safe.
All of a sudden, he heard a noise coming from the pool downstairs, he noticed that many people is crumpled up in a circle. Out of his curiosity, he decided to go back down to see what it was.
He sprinted towards the crowd, and saw you. His whole world crashed. The crowd stepped back and made way for him.
There lay a body, impaled by a steel pipe. You sacrificed your life to save a person you never know, a stranger. Chishiya slowly walks towards your pale, dead body. Tears slowly forming.
He slowly goes down to his knees as he caresses your cheek, emotionlessly, unaware that tears was slowly falling from his eyes.
"You broke another promise again." he stated.
"Remember what you promised me last December? That we'll grow old together."

December 24, Christmas Eve.
You and Chishiya were both laying down on his bed. Your head was resting on his chest, his hand was playing with your hair, the other one was resting on your leg.
"Chi-chi?" you called.
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
"I love you more." he stated.
"Give me your pinky."
"What for?"
"Just do it!"
You put your pink into his and made a promise.
"I promise that whatever happens, we'll grow old together." you smiled.

After what happened to you, he never let go of your jacket. He always wore it everywhere he go. That jacket reminds him of you and the sweet moments you both made together. He promised himself that he will never love any other person except for you.
