once again thinking about the un-mother episodes and realized there were some details i missed. for one, i didn't notice how when he wakes up at the "border to the spirit realm" the illusion he's trapped in is made to look like his childhood home.
we know that inuyasha and his mother were most likely cast out from the family, but the house design really makes it apparent. not only are izayoi and inuyasha in a separate estate from the looks of it (the house looks entirely empty; no one is seen in the background or milling about, even though estates that large would have plenty of staff), but they're also isolated from land itself. the main parts of the dwelling are built over water, and there appear to be a series of bridges leading back to a storeroom or some other sort of building.
regardless, as the image above shows, the majority of the house seems to be built over water, physically isolating the two. they have access to sprawling gardens, and the bridges do connect them to land, but the place is completely devoid of people.
we don't know how his mother actually dies (we never even get her real name), but i can imagine how dismal it was. no nearby resources, no available help. just her and him and hope, because that's all inuyasha's ever known.

Modern InuParents AU in which Izayoi collects unique figures and thrifts a poseable warrior-looking guy. He sat on the shelf for so long that there was a lot of dust that needed to be cleaned up. In her excitement, she didn't think much of how relieved the shop owner was to be rid of it at last.
Took him home and gave his hair a brush, cause that originally looked like a toddler got a hold of it. The only thing she hasn't figured out is how to remove the clothes to properly wash them; there's no velcro strips or snaps along the back. While the accessories were left to soak in a microwaveable container with a squirt of dish soap, she gives the rest of the doll a wipe down with a wet cloth, assuming that he's just sewn into his clothes.
...But what if this doll has a secret curse attached to it that izayoi doesn't know about? 👀

I still think about this role reversal AU once in a while. wanted to draw some of their family members so. Here’s some modern day students Inuyasha and Kikyo, Dad wearing polo Inutaisho with his wife, Izayoi and his ex-wife, Inukimi. And Mama Higurashi and Sota–whom after was born, Kagome was sent to a shrine due to her spiritual gifts but then returned as his general once a yokai war broke out. He might be in charge of the family but she still lets him know who’s boss. Oh, and Sess as a kendo kid lol.

Wrong. Terrible characterization, story arc or whatever the hell this was supposed to be aside. Even if Zero had told Toga he was going to die if he went after Izayoi he still would have gone. Inu no Taisho knew he would die. But he just didn't give damn. Because he loved her and their child so much to die for them. Toga was fucking injured and still went after her. Myoga himself warned him not to because he could die of his injury and he didn't listen because he quote "Couldn't afford to lose her". He gave Izayoi his Fire rat robe so she and Inuyasha could escape unharmed from the fire while he stayed back keeping the danger, Takemaru, at bay so that, again, they could get away unharmed probably knowing full well he was gonna die. Not to mention he used Tenseiga to bring her back to life when he could have very well accepted and mourned her death and save Inuyasha and leave, or just not bother with either of them at all and saved himself, but he didn't. He had the power to bring her to life so he did because, again, he loved her. Zero telling him the Shikon Jewel had apparently prophesied his death would have done nothing.
Conclusion?! This whole " I could have saved him" part from Zero is a bunch of bullshit Shitrise came up with to......give Zero a reason to be evil? I dunno why they did this! It's just bullshit.

10. Kaguya
Her design is gorgeous and her abilities were so unique. And if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t have gotten Kagome to kiss her man 😉
9. Yura of the Hair
Honestly?? Yes...such a iconic villain. Her appearance was short but very entertaining as her character.
8. Izayoi
WOAH. Tōga hit that??
7. Rin
This precious girl who lived a happy life after Inuyasha ended and is definitely not living in a tree because of her husband who was also her past babysitter!!!
6. Ayame
Sunrise are COWARDS. Actually try to convince this girl is not a huge sapphic. I love her so much it hurts she was used as a mildly love interest. Unpopular opinion but Ayame and Koga getting together was NOT it.
5. Inukimi
And of course, let’s not won’t forget the milfs because Sess’s mom has got it going on 🎶
4. Kagura of the Wind
Her fabulous sass self was too much for Inuyasha to handle which is why she had to go 🤭 And let’s not forget she got Sesshomaru, someone who is supposedly a cold hearted character to come see her before her final moments.
3. Kikyo
BEFORE Y’ALL KILL ME FOR THIS ONE...I have a love hate relationship with this girl but in a joking matter cause in truth I absolutely adore this b*tch yes she’s a b*tch but she’s my b*tch 😏 Though it would have been better if there wasn’t a love triangle with her and Inukag because it was so unnecessary. I just know Kikyo could have been a favorite among fans but honestly I think I love her character more because she was so evil at times but THE MA’AM DID COME AROUND. Good for her.
2. Sango
The POWER this girlie holds. She went through so much and yet she was always there for her friends. And not only is she slaying demons but she’s a cat person 👀 💖 Miroku better treat her like a QUEEN.
1. Kagome Higurashi
WHO DARE HATE HER? Kagome is such a amazing role model for girls. I know people say she’s weak because she got captured many times but put yourself in her shoes. She was only 15 and in dangerous world risking her life helping and saving people and dealing with her own personal life in her world. Not only did the girl have boys simping for her but she was even nice to people who tried to kill her! Sure,people may say she has flaws but every character does and in the end her character always meant well.
