Whatever this is - Kuroo Tetsurou

“We get it. You guys are dating. Just admit it!” Yamamoto exasperated, throwing his hand up with a frustrated expression creeping onto his face. He couldn’t understand for his life why their captain and manager wouldn’t just come clean of their team. He just wanted them to declare that they are dating, instead of doing whatever this is.
Both the Captain and manager stood frozen in one corner of the gym the team was to use. Eyes wide as they stared at Yamamoto from their position. Kuroo had his arms slung over your shorter figure, his jacket on you as he folded his much longer sleeves for you, from behind you. The action wasn’t scandalous per se, just two friends standing in each other’s space as if it was second nature to them. It was, but…
“We’re not dating,” you both said, not missing a single second from the end of Yamamoto’s sentence.
“What?” Kuroo yelled, head whipping in your direction in shock?
“We’re not, right?” you whispered, turning your head towards him, double-checking at his disbelief.
“Yeah, but- “
The tip of your ears was leisurely growing red at the curious eyes of the entered team. Shrugging Kuroo off your shoulder, you stepped away from the captain at the voice of Yaku.
“Oi, you can resolve this lover’s argument, later, we’ve got practice”
“Right,” Kuroo whispered, “you. We need to talk. After practice.” He continued, lifting the other hand to fold its sleeve, looking at you with unsure eyes.
“Yeah,” you squeaked, running off as soon as his hands lowered themselves.
Kuroo and you were close. Having met him through Kenma, who you shared classes with. Being paired with Kenma for a project in your first year at Nekoma High meant you would go over to Kenma’s house. Kuroo just had the worst timings bursting through Kenma’s front door while you were over. Kuroo Tetsurou, being himself, would want to befriend this new friend of his best friend. So, along with Kenma, Kuroo convinced you too to join the volleyball club, so you applied for the manager position.
Friendship with Kuroo was easy. Though you were introverted and preferred keeping it to yourself, Kuroo would soon find himself a place in your life. With him, things like ice-cream after practice, his jacket instead of yours, your doodles in his books and you drawing all over him, became natural. Kuroo had taken it upon himself to care for you. While he liked to brush it off as the same Mother hen instincts he had for Kenma and his team, he realized his feelings for you.
The practice ended in a stench filled gym while the guys took the bottle you handed them. Passing Kuroo his bottle, he held your eyes for what felt longer than it should have been. The interaction gained the groaning of the team and all of them together, throwing their dirty towels in your direction.
“Love birds,” Lev giggled, feeling happy about his input in the situation.
“Whatever you say, Kenma, head home without us? We’ll follow later,” Kuroo replied, taking your hand in his, walking towards the gym doors.
“Clean up before you leave,” he yelled from outside the corridor.
“Just tell us you guys are dating,” Yamamoto yells back,
“Young love,” Lev said, shaking his head.
“So, ice cream?” you tried your attempt at a conversation before reaching wherever Kuroo was pulling you along.
“Uh-” taking a few seconds to think he continued, “later actually, we need to talk”
“Talk over ice-cream” you suggested, adding a smile to lure him into your offer.
“Two scoops, if we talk without it,” he said cheekily, poking your cheeks to make you drop the pout growing on your face. Playful biting onto his finger, you asked what he wanted to talk about so badly. Reaching an empty class, he tugged you in. Positioning you on a desk, he sat himself beside you.
“So you wouldn’t date me?” as your head jerked in his direction at that you said,
“Did I miss an inside joke or reference here?” genuinely confused about whatever this was.
“No, you said you weren’t dating me when Yamamoto said we should admit to dating,” He reminded,
“Yeah, but we’re not,” you state the obvious, with a hand movement similar to a shrug as if to say ‘duh’.
“So wouldn’t date me,” he repeated feeling sure of himself ,
“I guess? If that is what you inferred from, I said,” getting up from your place, thinking the conversation was over.
“Why not?” turning to see if he was serious about this, you raised your eyebrows,
“I am being serious. Why won’t you date me? What’s wrong with dating me?”
You couldn’t believe that this conversation was really happening. How in the world were you supposed to answer this question without outing your feelings for the man. This wasn’t the first time somebody had mistaken you guys to be dating. The whole thought of the two of you to be dating while you both denied it, the team would go around saying otherwise.
You couldn’t understand why they would mistake you for dating the captain. Sure, Kuroo made sure that you would wear his jacket more than you ever wore yours. Yes, he would carry around a scrunchie on his wrist for the days you wore your hair down and tied your hair for you. Agreed that he would glare at any guy who got too close to you, but so did the team, right? No.
“Tetsu, you’re all a girl to ask for and you could get any girl you liked, ok? Ice-cream?” you tried getting away for this “talk”
“Then you would date me?” He asked, adamant about having this conversation.
“Dude, do I like-”
“Let’s get ice-cream,” Kuroo said, pushing himself off the table.
“Ok, that worked like a charm,” you sighed internally.
“My treat,” you chirped, ready to pay.
“I’ll pay,” He stated, paying
Sitting at your usual seat in the café, you both made small talk, waiting for your sweet treats. As the familiar server set your dessert on the table, she talked about how you and Kuroo were her favorite couple to serve because it reminded her of her husband. Smiling at the lady, you didn’t bother correcting her as she fondly patted your head. Kuroo sighed to himself at the view. You basically preened into the old lady’s touch, thinking about how you would be around his grandparents. As the lady walked away, Kuroo commented,
“I guess, this is pretty date like, you know, just us”
What seemed like a passing comment, Kuroo hoped, you would realize what he was implying. He hoped you would look at him the same way he looked at you when looked. And so you did, Kuroo’s big brain not picking on the way your ears grew warm at his comment, the way your smile became softer, seeing him smile at the old lady as he made small talk with her while she served.
“Tetsu, uh- chemistry”
“Chemistry? You need help in chemistry,” he guessed.
“yes, yes” you quickly agreed to change the topic.
And that lie found you here, in your room, as he invaded your bed. Maneuvering yourself carefully over his starfish position, you pushed his enormous limbs to make space for yourself.
“MOVE,” you complained, unable to move his tentacles for limbs.
“You do this at my home all the time,” he whined right back at you. “Pretty boyfriend like”
Kuroo was one smart person. He knew what he was doing, you would think. While you thought so, he really did not know what he really was doing. He was pretty offended when you said that you wouldn’t date him while it was petty; he took this pettiness as motivation to pursue you and finally confess his feelings he gained over the two years.
Ignoring his random remark, you went ahead with your plans for the day.
His remarks didn’t stop. He was persistent, so persistent. Carrying your school bag around the school because he was a “gentleman”. Paying for your after-school snacks because “that is how dates in books work”. Bring you random flowers he found around the school campus because “pretty things deserve pretty things”. And honestly, your heart was ready to burst any moment now. Sure, you were really close as friends, but this was something else. It also confused you to no end why he was doing this.
Another day of Kuroo and his antics. He was folding the sleeves of his jacket that you over when,
“This is what a good boyfriend would do, right?”
“Tetsu-” you sighed “if this is about that ‘talk’ I told you already, you can pursue any girl you want and they would date you”
“Then you would date me?”
“Tetsu, you can’t date me because I said I wasn’t dating you when one of friends said otherwise”
“What about me pursuing the girl I want?” Kuroo said, stepping closer to you, tugging his jacket closer to keep you warm from the chilly breeze while you stood outside the gym, talking instead of entering.
“Yeah, you can get her if you want”
“Then…,” he promoted,
“Go get her, what are you waiting for” your heart could really take only so much. Your chest ached, tightening with every passing minute.
“Date me, then”
“Tetsu, I am leaving” you were completely over this conversion. You were growing tired from this “teasing”.
“I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU”
“SINCE THE DAY YAMAMOTO SAID WE SHOULD?”
“SINCE THE DAY YOU BROUGHT THE STUPID WEED YOU BELIEVED TO BE A FLOWER YOU FOUND BY THE SIDEWALK”
Heavy breathing was the only thing heard in the empty corridor. It was too early for anyone else to be here just yet. That might just be one of the few things you appreciated in that moment because you were FREAKING crying while being confessed to.
Kuroo was done with himself too, at that moment. That wasn’t how he planned it. In fact, he hadn’t planned this at all. The captain had no clue what he was going to do at the end of this “teasing”. He made you cry? HE made you cry. That surely wasn’t how he would have wanted it to go.
“Sorr-”
“THIS IS, WHY YOU NEED MY HELP TO CONFESSION”
Did you really still think he liked someone else? Kuroo really had no clue how to make you even look at him other than as a friend.
“I LOVE YOU TOO, ROASTERHEAD. FROM THE DAY YOU SMACKED ME IN THE HEAD WITH A VOLLEYBALL AND COMPENSATED MY SWOLLEN HEAD WITH ICE CREAM”
Smacking his head gently to get him out of his dazed state, you pushed out your head hand, asking for your sleeve to be folded. Kuroo could only blank shift his gaze from your face to your sleeve clad hand then back at your face. You had an embarrassing smile on your face as you shook your wrist once again to turn his attention from your face.
Pulling you in by your hand, Kuroo landed his lips on yours in a slow kiss. His grip loose as he brings his hands to cup your cheeks, holding you close. Gentle thumbs warming your cheeks in what seems like a slow dance over your cold cheeks. HIs kisses were the softest flutter of butterfly wings against your lips as he moved savored every second of breathing the same air as you. Your fists grabbing on to his neatly tucked shirt, one drowning in his jacket, a reminder of how you found yourself in this situation. Pulling away, one look at your face and Kuroo Tetsurou could finally see the red he caused.
Pressing his forehead to yours, breathing an “I Love You” that left his lips the same way it felt to breathe, without a thought. He could hear the bushes rustle in the background, voices of his teammates fading into one,
“I told whatever this is, just admit it-” before Yamamoto could complete his sentence,
“We’re dating,” you both said, stepping away, while Kuroo slung his arms from behind you and folded your other sleeve as the teammate stood there with their jaws to the ground.
“Young love”
“Lev, no.”

Hope you guys are having a great day. Reblogs are appreciated. I will be taking asks, so feel free to interact.

“Hello?” Kuroo whispered into his phone,
“KUROO?”
“Hi. heh! I really have an emergency right now”
Your mind was racing, unable to wrap around the fact that your roommate who you have barely conversed with had even called you. At the sound of an emergency, you were already scrambling on your feet to gather your stuff halfway through your training.
“Did you burn the house down?”
“What? No. I just…”
All you heard was radio silence on his side. Pulling away the phone from your ear, you checked if you or him accidentally hung up.
“Kuroo?”
“Yeah. You see, I am naked right now.”
“YOU ARE NAKED AND HAVE AN EMERGENCY, IF THIS IS SOME SEXUAL INNUENDO THEN YOU BETTER PACK UP YOUR BAGS, RIGHT NOW!”

Countless - Free Real Estate! Kuroo
Part 1: Free Real Estate

So what are we? That was now your new dilemma.
A years’ worth of feeling was poured into that three second kiss. It was fleeting, but at the moment, it was much longer. The blurred lines of the night city peeking from the window you sat by. The weight of Kuroo’s head on your shoulder and the timely brushing of his hair across your neck still stained your memory. Sleeping was a task that night. How could you when all you could think of was Kuroo.
“Should I leave him a message? Maybe congratulate him?”
No. He must be asleep. He had a long day.
Kuroo was wide awake, laying on the floor beside his bed. Flowers? Chocolate? What could he do to show that he meant for the kiss to happen? Kenma, too, stayed up that night because of Kuroo’s insistent texts.
Kuroo wasn’t good at lots of things, including finding the right words to tell you how he felt, but one thing was for sure, he would chase you down the school halls every time he saw you standing on the other side. So he did.
“Thou shall not walk away with my heart”
“Rou?”
“Nothing. Kiss?”
You were flustered. Eyes open wide, searching his eyes for the teasing tone his words lacked.
“Do I have to intiate it or you’re going to be the man in this relationship and kiss me first?” Kuroo himself didn’t know where this was coming from, but he didn’t fight it. This was familiar. Just like the hundred other times, he had his arm around your neck. The hundred times you smiled at him for every successful block he made through the games. The hundred other times you came running to him after a match bouncing on your heel. It was natural. Same way he loved you. Learning small things about you failed to notice about yourself. Same way the kiss felt, simple.
It didn’t have you to be big and special, for you to like it. This was you, this was your friendship. It wasn’t pressuring. You didn’t need words to know that he felt the same. His hands fiddling behind his back, give it away.
“Yeah. I should really man up, huh?” You said, lips quirked up, catching on. Kuroo’s eyes visibly sparkled. Tugging the captain down by his collar, you nudged his nose with yours, holding eye contact. Kuroo was waiting for this, brain slightly more awake than yesterday’s. Eyes quickly falling to your lips as he smiled in anticipation. Noses brushing in an eskimo kiss before you finally met his lips halfway. The kiss was everything, and so much more than what Kuroo wanted to say. He tasted the same lip balm he remembers stealing for his chapped lips. You could taste the same lip balm that you used, on him. He would say he used only because you did too. A single hand coming up to your head, tucking behind the stray hair that fell onto your face.Other hand placed on the small of your back.
“I was certain you were too good to kiss in the moonlight.” Kuroo said smugly.
“So, I am the man in this relationship ?”
“If we’re in a relationship, then yes, you could be the man and I’ll be your lady”
“Milady, shall we seal the deal with a kiss?” you said, poking fun at the blushing boy who said before you.
“Seal the deal and we can head to our class,” Kuroo said, fondly fixing your hair for you.

Note: Hi guys, how are doing?🧸 I am kind of ✨stressed✨ Exams are coming up in a month and I am not ready. Hopefully, I find it in me to study. The post is a little small but I'll make it up with some text message of the same couple. So, keep an eye out for that. Bai, take care ⊂( ̄(エ) ̄)⊃
Secret Secret (Valentine's Event)

Kuroo was whipped, and he knew he was in for a long ride ahead when you stepped into the gym.How was he supposed to miss the little hop in your steps as you strut into the gym? He was in the middle of a game, defending in his position as a middle blocker, and receiving the ball on his face wasn’t his idea of impressing a girl.
“There goes my shot,” Kuroo thought, choosing to clutch his throbbing head while crouching on the ground.He didn’t catch on to the light patter of your shoes, as you ran towards him.
“You alright there?” Kuroo could have sworn he was dead and probably in heaven, looking up at you with hazy eyes.
“Jeez, you don’t look good,” He snorted. Of course, that was something you had to say out of anyone.Oh.OH. He just snorted in front of you.Seeing the boy hide his face further into his hands, you assumed his head wasn’t helping him at all.
“I’ll help you to the infirmary,”
So Kuroo had totally ruined his chance at a meet-cute, and realization didn’t help when you helped the boy into the infirmary, handed him an ice pack.
“Is it that bad?” Kuroo finally asked. Seeing you flash a bright grin, he thought he could work with this.
“You’ll survive, you big baby,” giving into your urge to pat his fluff raven hair, the boy froze.
“Shit,” Kuroo thought.

‘Shit’ indeed. Kuroo shook his head, finding himself in such a position.
Baby blue envelope in delicate grip, to avoid creases.
The envelope, covered in an assortment of the cutest stickers Kuroo could find.
Taking a breath in, Kuroo passed it to you.
Eyes expectantly stuck to you, who sat in your seat reading his letter.
Kuroo had eyes shut by the time you completed reading.
Peeling the biggest heart sticker from his envelope, you took his fisted hand in yours, gently pressing the sticker onto the back of his.
Kuroo’s eyes shot open at your touch, blushing as you smiled bashfully at the boy after having completed your task.
Fist bumping his hand, before lacing your pinkies with his.

For all the feelings you have allowed me to feel, listen to me in turn.
You, my dearest, have touched me in ways I would never have believed existed. My heart was full the day you entered my life. I am yours. I was, I am, and I always will be yours. I love you. I suppose you are accustomed to people saying these things. Damn you, spoilt creature; I should make you love me any more by giving myself away like this - but oh my dear, I can’t be clever and stand-offish with you. I love you too much for that. Too truly. Running from my feelings was never a choice.You deserve to be loved. You deserve to stain every single thought of mine, bleeding in my day. Every moment I spend breathing, I’ll owe it to you. I’ll kiss you a thousand times over to prove my love. I’ll savor the brushes of my hands on mine. Warm them inside my pockets. Push back the hair that falls onto your face when you sleep. I’ll patiently wait for the day you can feel the same for me. Until the day you let me love you, I’ll love you in silence. From a faraway, I’ll wait for you.

Hey everyone, how's your valentine's week going?
The valentine's event is open to ask, please be sure to head to take part in it. I would love to write something for you. Bye 😘😘
Kaori- Kuroo Tetsurou

“Hello?” Kuroo whispered into his phone,
“KUROO?”
“Hi. heh! You see, I really have an emergency right now”
Your mind was racing, unable to wrap around the fact that your roommate who you have barely conversed with had even called you. At the sound of an emergency, you were already scrambling on your feet to gather your stuff halfway through your kickboxing training.
“Did you burn the house down?”
“What? No. I just…”
All you heard was radio silence on his side. Pulling away the phone from your ear, you checked if you or he accidentally hung up.
“Kuroo?”
“Yeah. You see, I am naked right now.”
“YOU ARE NAKED AND HAVE AN EMERGENCY, IF THIS IS SOME SEXUAL INNUENDO THEN YOU BETTER START PACKING UP YOUR BAGS, RIGHT NOW!”
“NO.no. It’s not what you are thinking.”
Looking around, Kuroo saw the cause of this situation, his speaker that rolled away when Kuroo bashed himself into the shower wall on his side. He wouldn’t have had the courage to call his roommate, who he very much feared, if it wasn’t for his arm, which refused to move and was developing an ugly bruise.
“I think I broke my arm”
“And you’re naked because?”
“I broke my arm while showering, ok?”
Kuroo was beyond embarrassed. He thought the best of his roommate, the coolest. Maybe cool to the point where she was distant, but cool. He had seen her return from her practice with her boxing gloves tied together hanging from the side of her bag strap; her knuckles still wrapped in her white hand wraps. He would always be secretly glancing at her as she sat on the couch tugging off the hands wraps with her teeth. Kuroo would be there to see her head away from her, having no words to spare for him. Kuroo knew and understood you would return home tired, but secretly wished to befriend this very cool person he saw. He would often wonder what she thought of him, but that wasn’t important at that moment.
“And you thought I was the best choice for this because?”
Now, by all means, you were trying to sound rude, but you were headstrong about not wanting to see your roommate naked because he managed to break his arm while showering. A roommate, you didn’t know about beyond, his name, choice of cereal and unhealthy amount of fish that he likes.
“you think I should wait my friend to make a hourlong drive to get here while I sit here with my damn- arm tingling like freaking bitch”
Kuroo was in pain. That would be the only way he would explain this to his normally well-mannered self.
“Ok, yeah. I AM ALREADY ON MY WAY. DAMN”
“DON’T YELL AT ME, I AM THE IN PAIN, YOU DON’T SEE ME YELLING”
“True, I don’t see you yell, but I can hear you yelling. I’ll hang up now. I need to drive.”
You didn’t mind him yelling. Actually, you didn’t care at all. You knew it was the pain speaking having had some terrible injuries yourself, but you really need to concentrate on driving, though it was a sort of muscle memory to drive back home. You were glad that you had taken the car today. Just help Kuroo in the car and the hospital shouldn’t be too long of a drive.
“No,no,no, don’t hang up, please”
“I won’t just hang up and not come home, you know that, right?”
Of course, Kuroo knew that.
“I think my head might be bleeding too?”
“Oh fuck. Right. Ok. Where are you right now?”
“In the tub”
You could resist but rub your temples trying to soothe some stress out at that.
“Can you get out of the tub and maybe get some pants on for me?” You tried,
“About that, one broken arm, one broken leg, and maybe a bleeding head.”
“ what the fuck, even happened?”
“You see-”
Kuroo was just trying to have a good time. He had to house all to himself, after all. Pulling the currents shut, Kuroo stripped down, naked as the day he was born. First stopping by the kitchen to get himself some cereal, then sitting his naked butt on the cool surface of your precious couch enjoying some cartoons. Deciding to shower and refresh himself before your arrival, he prepared his clothes. Noticing your wireless speaker on the kitchen counter, Kuroo brought it to the shower with his phone. Starting a playlist, Kuroo was the main character of his world, until the mood of the playlist switched. Unable to stop himself, Kuroo was still covered in sud, reaching for his phone , going through his playlist while leaning on a single hand against the wall of the shower. It was all fine until Kuroo reached for the speaker to increase its volume. One miscalculated step and Kuroo was crashing against the wall, injuring himself with the tap of the bathtub he stood in. Elbows giving out, as he turned to support himself to balance. Falling on his back with only his phone in his hand. Kuroo tried to get up but quickly noticed his right arm not moving as he wished. The pain was incredible, but the shame had him sitting in his position for ten minutes until he finally gave in and called you.
“So yeah…” Kuroo scratched behind his ears as the embarrassment finally set in.
“Um… I am coming up the building right now, going to hang up.”
Kuroo wasn’t sure about hanging up. He deeply believed that he was going to pass out with how much effort it took to keep his eyes from drooping. He almost knocked himself out until he heard the front door unlock.
Calling out Kuroo’s name , you warned him of your presence. Knocking on the washroom door, before entering. Carefully taking in the situation had unfolded while you were away. Wet bathroom floor, with soggy cereal floating in the little puddle by the tub. Your speaker lay by your feet near the door, somehow still working. Leaning by the misty shower wall sat Kuroo, hiding his face in his hands. The shower was still pouring water to fill the tub. Grabbing the towel that was at arm’s length from where you stood inside the bathroom. You flung at the boy sitting in the tub, forgetting for a second about his potentially broken hand.
“Uhh, cover what you need to first.”
“Are you serious? Just pretend I am not naked, or else I will be sure to die in your arms.”
Pinching your eyes shut, you stood in your place contemplating what you did that led you to this moment. Realizing soon that he must be in pain, you said,
“Fuck it”
Kuroo’s head finally made an appearance from between his hands. Maybe he should have thought a little harder before speaking because now you were standing beside him, kneeling, hands reaching out for him. His eyes grew in size as you draped the towel over his lower body. Kuroo felt a gentle hand reach for his head, feeling around for a bleeding spot. Luckily, finding none, but a bump on his forehead, swollen for taking the hit. Kuroo finally breathed when you left the bathroom. A shaky breath escaped him while he waited for you to return.
Making Kuroo a makeshift sling for his possibly broken arm, you warned him to hold still as you placed one arm behind his knees and the other around his back, pulling him up bridal style. Quickly, but carefully, you placed him on the washroom counter.
Kuroo was lightheaded.It wasn’t because of the injuries he had brought upon himself, but it was the warmth of your hands on his bare skin that made blood rush to his head. Breaths swallow while all he could breathe was the peaches and vanilla scent that you always wore. He rested his head on your shoulder as you continued to dry him off the best you could without hurting him.
“Will you be fine getting some clothes on by yourself? I could ask our neighbor’s grandson to come help you if you need,” Kuroo’s head shot up at that.
“NO. I mean, no. You know the kid is Satan reincarnated himself. He would never let me live this down.”
“So, do I leave you with your clothes?”
“Yeah.”
No. That was the answer he should have given you. Turns out, pulling a pair of underwear with only one functional hand without hurting your broken leg is pretty hard. He couldn’t even pull it up his ankles. All those past years of stretching for volleyball weren’t coming to any use at that moment. The final nail to the coffin was his hand falling out of the sling you had so kindly tied for him.
“Fuck it.” He thought.
“Roomie~ don’t kill me. I need your help.”
And so…
You had to dress him with your eyes set to the ceiling. Admittedly so, you ended up poke around places you would want to be touching. A broken leg, broken arm and a hard on, and Kuroo was all set to head to the hospital.

Hear me out tho.
Clingy bf! Kuroo ranting to his s/o, while his s/o squishes his cheek with a single hand. Cheeks mushed, pushed up to his eyes affectionately and Kuroo continues to rant about his new chemistry teacher. Sat in the corner of the gym, his legs thrown over yours, his body turned towards you. Feeling your eyes never leave his face, Kuroo pauses for a second smiling brightly before pressing a kiss to the inside of your palm, keeping his hand on yours to keep to you hand in place.
"And our teacher couldn't even solve the numerical and I....love you"
"I love you more"
"Oh no you didn't-" Before tackling you to the floor, straddling you.

But imagine this.

Bf ! Kuroo who likes holding his s/o in the hallway before their exams to calm their anxiety. Body completely turned towards his s/o, with them in drowning in his huge stature. His s/o hands tightly tucked into their pockets to hide their clenched fists.
Kuroo would gently bring their head closer to rest on his shoulder. Placing his hands on their waist, from between their arms. His head, near his s/o ear. Whispering hushed encouragement and words of comfort.
With the promise, to find them after his exam, Kuroo would wave them bye until seated, Kuroo would walk away. Though it isn't before he pulling out their fists. Rolling them open to press kisses on the center of each palm. Seeing their smile, he assures himself that they would be fine.
"There, that's my very sexy brain, that I'm putting in these kisses. Don't underestimate the power to these kisses and your big stupid pretty and smart brain, "
"I- love you,"
"I love you more,"
"More kisses? You know only for science purposes,"
"Of course, you know me, I am a man of science. Anything for science, "

Kuroo loves kissing. Kissing for the tiniest reasons. An unsaid rule of sorts that he must kiss every time he meets his s/o. Across the hall? Kuroo’s running towards them. In the middle of talking with their friends, Kuroo must kiss. For the same reason, his s/o’s friends demanded alternating days to have his s/o sit with them at lunch. It wasn’t at all Kuroo’s fault and so his s/o told him, too. Though Kuroo did wish he could sit with his s/o at lunch every day, even if it meant sitting with his s/o’s friends. Alas, his s/o convinced him otherwise. That didn’t mean he would break his aforesaid rule.
Stopping behind his s/o’s back, his lunch tray in one hand. He titled his s/o’s face up by the chin, to face his. Placing a fleeting kiss to their lips, flustering them and their friends. Ears turning red for the couple. Pausing a second before-
“You look pretty like that,”
“Tetsu-”
“Oh baby, don’t just swallow your food like that. Chew first.”
“JUST GO,”
“You’re blushing, pretty,”
“So are you. Go,”

Everybody liked the first few I did like this and honestly I had a lot of ideas like this. So I might work on a Masterlist dedicated to just such works. Requests are open, if you want me to write for any particular Haikyuu character and, ofc have a great day <33
Hi, I just wanted to say I enjoy reading ur Kuroo’s stories, the way u portray him is so accurate and y/n is very relatable. I don’t know if u take requests but here’s an idea, what if y/n’s sister has a kid and Kuroo and y/n is babysitting.
And after they finished babysitting they’re having a late night pillow talk about their future domestic life.

Answering your sister’s call was the last thing you expected to do today. Only for her to explain that she wanted you to babysit for a couple of hours. It’s not like you’re not good with children, it's just more that you’re not really the playful type. In what other children at your age had lacked in education, you lacked in imagination. Every time your niece wanted to play you felt guilty for not playing along. Yet for some odd reason your niece loved you? Every time you saw her at your sister’s house she always came running to you like some magnet. However, you hadn’t introduced her to Kuroo just yet. Due to him feeling “an enormous pressure” with you being her favorite and something along the lines of he can’t take your place. You always laughed at his snarky comments like sure, he could take your place as the favorite relative? Yeah right.
“Can I come with you?”, you look over at Kuroo questioningly. You both give each other a blank stare, you confused and Kuroo thinking you didn’t hear him. “Yeah, I thought you were coming with me this whole time?” Kuroo nods unaware that he made that decision. You wave him off, remembering him making a remark yesterday about he’s going to replace you and be the best relative. Kuroo slides right next to you on the couch, kissing your cheek before laying his head on your lap. “I’m kind of scared, your niece seems to effortlessly love you. I think I might have to bribe her to take your spot.” You laugh at him wanting to bribe your niece, truly a conman aura. You start playing with his hair, “Well my niece loves anything I love, so I’m sure she’ll love you too.”
Upon arrival at your sister’s, Kuroo's nerves never once faltered; he knows you talk highly of your niece. What’ll happen if he doesn’t impress her or even worse makes her cry on instinct? Will you break up with him? Realize he’s terrible with kids and then break up with him? Glancing over to Kuroo in the passenger’s seat you see him fiddling with his fingers, a habit he picked up from you. Knowing the feeling all too well you grab his hands, “No need to be nervous we’re just watching my niece. Don’t worry, she’s really well behaved and super smart for her age.” Kuroo nods knowing if anything happens you were right beside him, you laugh. “And you really thought you were going to replace me looking like a nervous wreck? You have a lot to learn my love.”, kissing his cheek as you hop out the car.
Knocking on your sister's door, hearing footsteps and her animals patter beyond the door. Her husband opens the door greeting you and Kuroo before you hear your niece’s footsteps running down the hallway. You bend down as your niece greets you in a big hug, “There she is! Did you miss me?” Kuroo’s heart clenches at the sight of you with your niece. “I have so much to show you and tell you! I got student of the month and I also did this art of me and-“ your niece glances behind you. “Um, who’s that?”, you laugh looking back at Kuroo nodding in his direction letting him know to introduce himself. “I’m Kuroo, I’m your aunt's boyfriend.”, he extended his hand out so she could shake it. She slowly takes steps to him before grabbing his finger and shaking his hand suspiciously.
“Auntie, can he play with us?”, you tap your finger against your chin. Kuroo coughs, interrupting your thoughts, “I guess so.”, you both stick your tongues out at each other. “Alright sis, the dog and cat are fed so just keep an eye on them. Don’t give them any more treats please!”, she glared at you knowing you often bribed them. “As for her, bedtime is at 9:00 since it’s the weekend.”, your niece huffs as you ruffle her hair. “We’ll be back in a couple of hours, thank you both for agreeing to watch the house.”, you nod as you walk your sister to her front door, locking it for safety. Turning around to see Kuroo and your niece staring at each other, you could just feel the awkwardness in the air. “Ok you two, what do you want to do first?” Kuroo looks at your niece shrugging. “Let’s go play in my room!”, you grab Kuroo shaking the nerves out of his shoulders as you follow your niece to her room.
Walking to your nieces room you feel yourself deflate, you hate playing pretend. How could you possibly be so bad at something that wasn’t even real? Your niece grabs multiple character toys before handing some to Kuroo and to you. As she tells you the narrative for her pretend play you look over at Kuroo, seeing him listening intently even wanting to add some plot points. You smile, for someone who was a nervous wreck a couple of minutes ago, he suited this role nicely. Kuroo was always so attentive and patient you knew he would get along nicely with your niece. “Auntie! Are you listening? Stop looking at your boyfriend.”, Kuroo laughs as you look away guiltily, apologizing.
“Ok, now that you’re focused auntie! You’ll be the fairy cat, while Roo is the DJ cat, and I'll be Gabriella, the human.” Kuroo looks at the toy your niece handed you, poking at its feet, giggling. Halfway through playing you decide you were going to excuse yourself to the bathroom. It wasn’t till your niece heard the door click that she put down her toys and looked at Kuroo. “Roo, I think auntie doesn’t really like playing pretend but you’re really good at it.”, Kuroo smiles before he decides to backtrack. “Why do you think that is?”, your niece pulls him closer before whispering in his ear. “She says it’s a secret but I think she just doesn’t know how to pretend.”, she pulls away from Kuroo’s ear before grabbing her toy once again. “But she tries, that’s why she’s my favorite.”, Kuroo takes a mental note to ask you what the secret is later. Ruffling your niece’s hair, “Well thank you for trusting me enough to tell me that.”. She giggles at Kuroo and continues to play pretend with him.
As you go in the bathroom you feel yourself relax, hearing your niece giggling felt somewhat rewarding. Knowing she finally had someone interesting enough to play with was a relief. You knew she would get attached to Kuroo, I mean he often worked with children due to his job. Feeling appreciative for him, you decide to take this time to update your sister on how everything is going so far. Opening the door to go take a picture of the fur babies but instead are met with the sight of Kuroo dramatically playing with your niece. Snapping a picture of that instead, making sure to make it your lock screen when you have time. Watching them from afar, thinking of how your future with Kuroo might look. Taking a moment to imagine a mini combination of you and him walking around your apartment. Thinking of moments like Kuroo holding a baby, Kuroo teaching your kid volleyball, or watching him play with your child from afar. You feel yourself fall deep into the comfort of the moment, just watching how amazing your partner was and continues to be.
Slowly walking away forgetting the task at hand, you softly head downstairs. Kuroo turns around to find your back turned to him and all he can think of is that he hopes you're okay. Snapping back into the moment with your niece as he hears you continuing to head downstairs. You find your sister's black cat laying in its cat tower, giving it strokes on its back. Looking around to find her pet beagle, only to find it also resting in its pet bed. Sending pictures and a text to her, reassuring her to continue having fun because everything was going swiftly. Walking around her house you see a picture of your sister and you as children in her hallway, you falter seeing your parents behind you in the picture. You touch the frame baffled how long ago this picture was from, thinking back to the day. Your parents were fighting but your sister paid them no mind, she was always such an independent thinker. You remember her telling you that they were just dumb adults and to only focus on her and taking a beautiful picture. To end up so different from her, you wonder what went wrong, why you were so…different?
“Auntie! Kuroo says you make the best smoothies! Can you make me one?” You and the pets are disturbed by your niece's booming voice traveling through the house. “Oh did he? You know what since he said that he has to help me make it now!”. Kuroo keeps a pace behind your niece while you stand in front of the staircase, for safety reasons. You peck Kuroo on the cheek, “Which smoothie are you talking about? You’re the one who usually makes me smoothies, handsome.”. Kuroo hugs you from behind as you start looking through the cabinet for a blender. “I’m talking about the chocolate banana one you make for me, when I want a sweet treat.”, you nod remembering that one time you made it for him when he got home from work. To be fair though, chocolate made anything taste good but hearing Kuroo brag about it as if it was the first smoothie he ever had in his life, made your heart beat ten times faster.
“Ok lovie, I’m going to look for the ingredients but when I say cover your ears-”, you demonstrate. Even though she knows how to do an action so simple, you don’t want her to feel alone. “Make sure you cover them because the noise is really loud, okay?”, she flashes you a thumbs up heading to sit down at the table. Kuroo pulls out a chair for her, leaning on the counter top so he can monitor you both at the same time. Your niece gets up to look at all the artwork displayed on the fridge, looking for a specific piece. “Here it is! Look auntie! This is the one I did in class, it’s us!” You stop chopping for a second to look at the artwork she’s showing, bending down to her eye level. “This is such a well drawn picture, lovie. I see you drew my hair nice and pretty!” pointing to the picture, letting her know you understood it. “Oh! You even added little cat ears to us like your toys! I love it, can I take it home with me?” She nods as you give her a hug. Kuroo smiles to himself so hard it hurts, you were so easy to love it was effortless. From your kind personality to your adoring smile, he would never doubt his ability to love you.
You hand the drawing to Kuroo so he could place it by your phone, remembering to take the drawing home with you guys. Kuroo drags your niece to the living room, asking her if she wanted to watch anything as you finished chopping the remaining smoothie ingredients. “Ok lovie, cover your ears!”, you watch your niece cover her ears but unexpectedly you see Kuroo covers his as well. As you start blending, you watch Kuroo get up and place his elbows over your ears. Laughing at how considerate and ridiculous your boyfriend was. Flashing a thumbs up to signify that you finished up blending, Kuroo let’s go setting up three glasses. “Ok lovie, order up!”, your niece comes running to get her smoothie. “Wow, so good! Roo was right, it's delicious!”, you smile looking at the clock seeing it was almost time to put her to bed. “Thirty minutes till someone has to go to bed!”, you pinch her cheek before giving it a quick kiss. “No fair! I felt like I spent no time with you!” you look down sadly, seeing her pout. “Well, I can read you a bedtime story and we can do your night time routine together! Just you and I, no stinky Roo there.” she laughs as Kuroo rolls his eyes.
Making sure to do her whole routine with her as she talked about various topics to the episodes she watched to the things she learned in school. As she’s talking you start to comb her hair, braiding it. You see her in the mirror yawning as you tie off her braid. You help her dust the bed before tucking her in. “Auntie, can you read me something with Roo?” you stop before kissing her head. Nodding, going to go call Kuroo, “My love, I think you’ve officially taken my spot…”, Kuroo grins pulling you into a side hug. “Welp, I told you this would happen. Nothing lasts forever baby, let’s go.”, you tell Kuroo to go ahead while you pick her favorite book. Entering the room hoping you chose correctly. “I know I haven’t read to you in a while lovie, I hope this is still your favorite.”, you pull out the book behind your back. She nods excitedly, “Well it’s my favorite when you read it to me.”. You start getting embarrassed realizing why she liked this book so much, hiding behind the book. “Roo, auntie reads this book the best she does these voices and makes the sound effects and everything!”, Kuroo looks over at you grinning. “Oh does she now? Well I can’t wait to hear it. I’ll hold the book while you read babe.”
You cough, clearing your throat while you shakily read the title. “Auntie, you’re not doing the voice…”, she pouts. Kuroo looks at you seeing how embarrassed you are, “No need to be embarrassed auntie! Please Roo needs to see how awesome of a storyteller you are!” Deciding to put your pride aside you start reading with the voice, hearing Kuroo chuckle at how bizarre you sound. Making sound effects and all, Kuroo thought you were incredibly dorky in an affectionate way. As you finished reading, you saw your niece slowly starting to drift off to sleep, telling her softly goodnight. Lighting up the room with her night lights before exiting her room, shutting the door. As one door closes another one opens, “We’re back! Sorry for coming a bit earlier than expected, we were tuckered out.”. You wave your hands, telling her that it was no problem. You bid each other a goodbye before getting in your car heading home.
Getting home you immediately feel exhaustion take over you, changing clothes and getting ready to sleep. Coming out of the bathroom you see Kuroo dusting the bed, getting ready as well. He meets you halfway before lifting up his hand, expecting a high-five from you. You laugh as your hands meet, “We’re the best relatives ever!”. He grabs you, pulling you into a hug, laughing at his exclamation. Shaking your head and going to lay down on your side, “Tetsu can I be honest with you?”. Kuroo bobs his head, “How bad did I give you the ick while reading that book?”, he laughs and you suddenly feel the urge to crawl in a hole. “I KNEW IT!”, you hid under the covers not wanting to see any sign of life. Kuroo lightly pulls the covers down, “You didn’t give me the ick per say. More like “I got with a major dork.” but I knew you were a dork when we met so I wasn’t too phased.” He kisses your head before pulling you into a cuddle, “You know I think because you’re such a dork that’s why your niece favors you so much.”. Your fingers dance around his chest feeling guilty about getting so much love from your niece. “You know, till this day I really don’t know why I’m her favorite. I can’t even play pretend correctly.”, Kuroo remembers what your niece told him earlier that night. “You know your niece said you had a secret. Care to tell me what it is…?” you look up at him, raising a brow. Trying to think deeply about what secret you told her, only to reach a blank. “Tell me more about this said secret Tetsu?”, Kuroo starts petting your hair.
“She said you had a secret about why you don’t like playing pretend with her.”, you sigh, shaking your head. “I used the word “secret” as an excuse not to dump my trauma onto her.”, still Kuroo starts nudging you hoping you would take the hint to open up. “My parents didn’t really allow me to be a “kid” so I don’t really know how to pretend. I just get a little insecure about it, I mean how does one not know how to play pretend? It’s not even real!”, you laugh at how frivolous it all sounds. Kuroo takes in what you’re saying thinking about your… strange parents. Feeling sympathetic towards you, knowing his parents allowed him some sort of kid-like innocence. Even though his parents had a rocky relationship they never included him, allowing him to focus on friendship and sports. “You can play pretend, that is how we got together in the first place baby.”, you bump his chest playful. “That was a life or death situation, not the same.” You both laugh remembering how you both were so entranced on selling yourself as a couple, years ago. “Don’t think too hard, loving someone like you isn’t complicated. You’re a very caring and nurturing person. Everyone is attracted to a beautiful soul like yours, especially me.”, you roll your eyes.
“You know Tetsu spending today with my niece made me think about us… about having…” Kuroo’s heart stops with each break you take, are you about to say what he thinks you’re going to say? “About having a possible child together someday?” Kuroo felt his heart burst out of his chest, seeing you with your niece being a dork but being oh so kind, he couldn’t help but think of you being a mother. A mini version of each other walking around? Get him a defibrillator, stat. “I mean I know we haven’t gotten married yet and maybe it’s too soon to have children but having a child would be something to start thinking about.” hearing Kuroo’s heartbeat increase as you continue talking. “If it’s a boy, it’ll have your crazy hair or if it’s a girl it’ll have my nose, it makes me think how badly I want that. With you.” You look up to see Kuroo’s face blank, you laugh thinking you’ve broken him. “I know that I don’t come from the best family but I want to be able to give my child an opportunity that I didn’t have, a loving family.”, Kuroo pulls you into a bone crushing hug feeling your sentiment deeper than you could ever know. A loving family, you and him together creating another beautiful life, what more could he ask for? He settles into your shoulder, speech coming out muffled. “You’d be the greatest mother. Seeing you with your niece, I’d never doubt your motherly abilities. You love people so seamlessly and that’s exactly what a child needs.”, you tear up in his arms feeling a sense of peace wash over you. The man you loved, who grew with you these past few years, never once doubted your ability to be a mother.
“So, when do we get started?” you laugh. “No way! You have to marry me first Tetsu.”, Kuroo lifts his eyebrows. “That’s manageable. Expect it soon, always be ready!”, he pecks your lips before you both fall asleep. Kuroo knew he had the ring stashed away in his closet dresser beneath the million novelty ties you got for him each holiday. Truth be told he got that ring after your first official month living together. Living together showed him that he didn’t want to do this life with anyone else but you. This one joke between you was sooner than you think.

i feel like kuroo would like kpop. he’s one of those boyfies that will shamelessly admit whenever a new comeback is over the horizon: “how can i C O M P E T E ? ! ”
he can accept that you’d pick jungkook over him, because frankly... it’s jungkook– mans would not even blame you–
but in reality, he knows you still love him the most. he simply just shares your appreciation for the music. definitely likes rap lines though. they just spit fire, yknow? at the end of the day, it’s all in good fun!

🎶 oouh-oouh-oouh 🎶
you just have mots7 on speaker, eggs and bacon sizzling on the stove. kuroo’s big shirt loosely hanging off you with a pair of comfy shorts. the kitchen has a honey yellow and orange hue since the sun is only beginning to come out.
🎶 oouh-oouh-oouh 🎶
you got up earlier than kuroo, wanting to surprise him with cooking breakfast because, yknow, you’re just in that soft domestic mood™️.
🎶 oouh-oouh-oouh 🎶
kuroo comes stumbling in. he’s running a hand through his messy hair and his eyes are half closed because he’s still only half-awake. he didn’t feel you next to him in bed that morning so that’s why he dragged himself out of bed just to wrap you in his arms again. big cuddly sleepy baby just wants to be near you–
🎶 oouh-oouh-oouh 🎶
he’s not surprised hearing the song, but he smiles to himself when his eyes adjust to the light and sees you dancing a little in your spot in front of the frying pan. quietly, he slips up behind you, hugging you tightly from behind.
🎶 modeun ge gunggeumhae, how's your day? 🎶
you yell because wtf kuroo? frankly, he scared you! ‘i thought you were sleeping’ you say, in your head though, not out loud, because kuroo hides his face in the crook of your neck. you can feel his smile against your skin and you hear his sleepy and still a bit raspy voice suddenly sing, “oh, tell me~”
a bubbly giggle escapes your chest, and you play along, “oh yeah oh yeah, ah yeah ah yeah!~”
🎶 mwoga neol haengbokhage haneun– 🎶
his hands slip under his shirt you’re wearing and run up and down your sides. not in a flirtatious way, but just as an adoring and comforting gesture–
🎶 –ji~ 🎶
“oh, text me,” you sing, setting down the spatula in your hand.
“oh yeah oh yeah, ah yeah ah yeah,” he mumbles. he spins you around in his arms, hands lightly gripping your sides as he hold you close.
🎶 your every picture– 🎶
dumb, lovestruck grins are present on your faces as your shoulders sway together, like how taehyung’s does at this point in the song’s choreo. you both know because you’ve watched the mnet performance several times together–
🎶 nae meorimate dugo sipeo, oh– 🎶
kuroo sneaks a quick peck at the tip of your nose, “bae.”
“come be my teacher,” you continue, your smile somehow growing even wider. butterflies are set loose within you and as you lazily sling your arms up and over your lovely boyfriend’s broad shoulders.
🎶 ne modeun geol da gareuchyeojwo, your one– 🎶
you steal back a peck on his nose. you then lean back and you lightly boop his nose with your finger.
🎶 –your two! 🎶
you gently pull away with a happy twirl. kuroo eyes you with absolute adoration as he turns off the stove next to him, not wanting the breakfast you’d been working on as a surprise for him to go to waste.
🎶 listen, my, my baby naneun 🎶
you pretend to pull kuroo in with an invisible rope to the beat and he feigns confusion as gets “pulled”. when you two meet in the middle, he’s quick to have you in his arms again.
🎶 jeo haneureul nopi nalgo isseo... 🎶
kuroo starts littering your face in kisses.
🎶 ... geuttae niga naege jwossdeon du nalgaero! 🎶
lightheartedly, you try pushing him away with a bright laugh. the feeling was ticklish, yet it felt so sweet and tender deep down that you didn’t truly want it to stop.
🎶 ije yeogin neomu nopa 🎶
kuroo finally pulls back, running his hand through your slightly messy hair while he soaks in your smiling expression. he can’t help but let a smile break out onto his own lips seeing the grin you had on yours.
🎶 nan nae nune neol majchugo sipeo... 🎶
you both finally settle down, and you find yourselves gazing at each other. a million words in your eyes, steady breaths, shared warmth in the chilly morning...
your eyes both flutter closed, as you lean into each other, sharing a loving and comforting kiss.
🎶 yeah, you makin' me a boy with luv! 🎶

to fix a tie
characters: kuroo and gn! reader; post! timeskip
wc: 1.3k
warnings: none, this is just a slice of life fic that had been plaguing my mind for a few days
a/n: very fluffy, almost nauseatingly cute...also this isn’t proofread because I’m queuing this up at 2am. okay the way kuroo’s mouth moves in the gif is kinda funny to me

The early morning is quiet, save for your soft, steady breathing and Kuroo’s socked footsteps around the room. He’s trying his best to stay quiet, but in the midst of his rush he stubs his toe on one of the bedposts. He sucks in a breath in a poor attempt to not wake you up, and his brows scrunch together as he hops on one leg while he holds his injured foot in his hands. All of his hopping around stirs you awake.
You stretch as a yawn slips past your lips, your eyes struggling to stay open. Kuroo stops hopping after hearing you yawn and his eyes stare at you like a deer caught in headlights. You turn as sleep manages to reel you in, and Kuroo lets go of the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. He smiles as he notices your eyes flutter close, his heart hammering in his chest because of how lucky he is to have this view every morning.
He walks over to your side of the bed, leaning down and nosing your cheek before pressing his lips to your forehead. Your arms instinctively wrap around his neck to pull him down but his hands land on either side of your body to keep himself steady above you. A low chuckle rumbles through his chest as he eyes you, a smile plastered on his face because my god he’s so in love with you. He’d reel the moon in just for you, if possible, give you the world if he could, all just to keep you happy.
He bumps his nose with yours and whispers your name, trying to pull you out of the sleepy state you’re in. “My love,” he drawls out in a low voice, effectively putting you to sleep instead of pulling you out of it. He pokes at your side and watches you flinch away from his hand, a slow smile spreading on your lips.
“What do you want?” You let out a small laugh as you squint so you can focus your gaze on his face hovering over you. Neither of you speak above a mere whisper, both afraid to break the comfortable silence enveloping you.
You feel his smile against your skin as he leans down to press a kiss to your exposed collar bone, your skin tingling when he speaks. “I have to go soon and you haven’t fixed my tie, love.”
You card your fingers through his styled hair, a giggle erupting from your chest at his groan of protest because he had just done his hair. You tilt his face up by his chin, pressing your lips to his forehead as you let out a soft-spoken sorry. “You have to move so I can get up then.”
A mischievous smirk pulls at the corner of his lips as he looks at you. “How can I move when you know how much I enjoy seeing you beneath me.”
You roll your eyes and throw a punch at his chest, which he manages to dodge as he pulls back to stand up. “Real smooth, Tetsu.”
He shrugs. “I thought so.”
You let out a snort and a mumbled dork as you swing your feet off the bed. Kuroo extends his hands out for you to grab onto, and you happily let him pull you off the bed. You shudder as your bare feet touch the wood floor, leaning into Kuroo’s body for warmth.
He wraps his arms around you, lifting you up so you’re kneeling on the bed instead. He places his hands on your hips, giving you a slight squeeze. “Sweetheart, my tie. I’m gonna be late.”
“Right, right.” You straighten your back as your hands rest on his chest. “But…give me a kiss first.”
It’s his turn to roll his eyes. “Just one kiss?” His lips ghost over yours, not quite giving you what you want.
You huff in frustration, a soft whine tumbling out. You lean forward to close the gap, but Kuroo leans back and gifts you a teasing smile. “Nu-uh, tie first.”
Taking your hands off his chest and raising them in mock surrender, you tilt your head as you wrap your hands around his tie, concentrating on the fabric rather than his smug smirk. You chew on your bottom lip as you fix his tie for him, your fingers brushing against the skin of his neck. At seeing the goosebumps litter his skin, a small smile of satisfaction tugs at the corners of your lips.
You pat his collar down, fix his hair, and lean back to admire your work. “There, you’re all set…wait.” You lean forward and furrow your eyebrows.
He looks at you, slight concern etched on his face. “What?” His eyebrows raise as he waits for you to continue.
You rub at a spot on his chest. “Tetsu, did you eat something while in your work shirt? ‘Cause it’s stained.”
“That’s weird, it shouldn’t be. It was clean when I put it on.” He looks down to try and see where you’re pointing, his lips pursed as he tries to find the stain. With his attention elsewhere, you lean forward to press your lips against his, your hands smoothing his shirt as they find perch on his shoulders.
“How sneaky,” he whispers against your lips, his hands landing on your hips as he pulls you impossibly close, only to pull away much too quick for your liking. “And as much as I’d like to continue kissing you,” he leans down for another brief kiss, “I have to get going, love.”
Untangling himself from you, he reaches over to pull his blazer on, which you fix as soon as he’s in your reach. You tug him close by his collar, landing another kiss on his lips. “I’ll miss you.”
He smiles as he wraps his arms around you, pressing kisses to your neck. “I’d expect no less from you.”
You scoff, this time you being the one to untangle yourself from his arms as you mutter jerk under your breath. You look at the time and get off the bed, poised to push him out the bedroom door.
Kuroo shakes his head. “Aren’t you gonna go back to sleep? You don’t have to be up for another hour or so.”
“Are you gonna tuck me in?”
“Only if you want me to.”
You dive under the covers in a rush, tucking yourself in because you’d rather spend the last few moments of the morning kissing him than anything else.
He laughs, a sound so awfully sweet it brings a smile to your face because wow his cackle is loud, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. “What’s left for me to do?”
“You’ve gotta give me a goodbye kiss, duh.”
“Right, duh.”
He leans down over your figure like he had earlier, and kisses your forehead, your nose, and hovers over your lips.
You groan and roll your eyes, wrapping your arms around his neck. “You know I really hate when you tease me like that,” you mutter before pulling him down to kiss him.
He stops himself from letting his weight fall on you with his hands, a chuckle melting into the kiss at your eagerness. Nevertheless, he returns the kiss with the same fervor. Holding himself up with one hand, the other tugs at a few strands of your hair to distract you. He laughs as he stands up, one of his hands reaching for yours, which you happily take.
“Now seriously, I gotta go.”
“I know. Be safe.” You give his hand a squeeze because you want him to return safe and sound.
“Always, love. So, I can come back home to you.”
You smile, a lazy little smile, as your eyes begin to droop. “Love you, Tetsu.”
Kuroo reciprocates your smile, albeit a bit brighter, as he leans down to press a kiss to your forehead. And without letting his lips leave your skin, he whispers a soft I love you- a declaration of love and a promise of his return to your waiting arms.

》Synopsis: You, one of Nekoma’s cheerleaders, made a bet with the captain of the Nekoma Volleyball team, that they’re going to lose to Aoba Jouhsai in the upcoming match. And- you’re failing chemistry.《

"Sensei, please don't do this." You begged. "I really want to go!"
Your teacher's eyes wandered on your pleading face, and she sighed.
"I don't get any say in this. You're failing chemistry, and if you don't pass this make-up exam, I can't let you go to the match."
You knew her answer was final, so you sighed, trying not to cry. This was supposed to be your first match, and you couldn't even go! "At least let me attend the training? Just so that if a miracle happens, I'll be ready?"
She shrugged. "If you think you can pass the exam and attend training, why not? I don't really care what you do, to be honest, as long as you pass."
Yeah, that's not happening, you thought but held your tongue.
"Oh, come on, don't look so grim. You're a smart girl, I'm sure you'll do it."
Though it did feel nice having her believe in you, you just couldn't be as positive as she was, but you managed to fake a smile. "Yeah, I'm sure it'll be okay. I still have to go back before I'm too late, though." This was the first time you were going to train in your cheerleading outfit, and you were too excited to see it on yourself.
She sent you a sympathetic look as she ruffled your hair slightly and went her way. You sighed. Chemistry was something you just weren't able to comprehend. Regardless of how much you studied that damn subject, you could swear you just got worse.
You quickly changed into the bright red two-piece outfit, it had black stripes on the sides and a big NEKOMA right on your chest. The black and red skirt was a little too short for your liking, but who were you to complain? You were just happy you even got to wear it.
"You're late." The captain told you as she saw you entering the gym. The rest of the team was already in their places, practicing, but stopped when they too noticed you.
"I'm sorry, I was with sensei." You apologized with a smile. "What did she say?" She asked, her large, green-blue eyes looking at you curiously. She was the same age as you, though she had a way of making you feel... smaller next to her.
"I- uh..." You looked at the girls that stared back at you with slightly narrowed eyes, making you feel a bit self-conscious. "I- I'm failing chemistry, so I have to take the exam next week. She told me I can't go to the match if I fail."
You thought the topic would be over, but apparently not. "And?" She asked, confusing you with the question. "And?" You repeated.
"Are you going to fail?" She questioned, looking at you like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I hope not." You faked a giggle, feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of the girls, judging you.
"You should tell us if you're going to fail, you know. So that we can add you to the choreograpyh."
"O-oh, don't worry." I'm sure I'll do fine." Oh, you were anything but sure, though you figured it was better if you didn't tell her that.
"Good. Then get to your position. You have the choreography memorized, right? Last time you were a bit... sloppy." You tried to ignore one of the girls giggling. "Yeah, I know it all by now."
Finally, she smiled. You weren't sure if the smile was genuine or not, but just seeing her smile made you feel relaxed. "That's really nice, Y/N-chan!" She clapped her hands to gain attention. "Now, let's start before the volleyball team comes."
Everybody knew that was the opposite of what she actually wanted since her crush on the volleyball team's captain was now more than known, but you chose not to call her out. You knew she wasn't a fan of you already, so it was better to keep your mouth shut, you decided.
You didn't know why, but the girls seemed to have something against you since they always did their best to exclude you from things, though you tried not to think much about it.
When the captain started to count, you stopped thinking and danced along instead.
***
"Aah- that was tiring. She's too ruthless sometimes!" A girl from your team exclaimed as she sipped on her water, eyeing the pretty captain. The captain was known to be one of the prettiest girls in school and was frequently asked out by guys, though most were aware she only had eyes for one man. It had been a big surprise to everyone when Kuroo had rejected her, though.
Almost every girl in school had a crush on Kuroo, thinking of him as this cool, cold guy that had rejected even the prettiest girl in school, but in reality, he was just too busy with volleyball and his lessons. To be fair, you wouldn't have known he was a huge dork either if you weren't in the same class with him and had this weird friendship/arch enemy thing going on, either.
You weren't exactly friends with him, though. More like bickering constantly, but also having weird inside jokes. You were close but also...not friends. Maybe that was why the girls didn't like you, since you always argued with the guy they wanted to date. But it wasn't your fault he was too much fun to tease!
Teasing Kuroo was something you couldn't stop yourself from doing, and you weren't the only one that liked to make fun of the other, since Kuroo always managed to pick a fight with you, too. It wasn't genuine arguments, more like challenges, dares and bets, -you joining the cheering team was a dare you had with Kuroo, too- and because of the constant challenges you had with their captain, the volleyball team loved you, too.
"I think they're coming!" A girl whisper-yelled, causing everyone's eyes to turn to the door. She was right since the loud laughs, footsteps, and jokes were hard to miss as they approached the gym door.
Kuroo was the first to enter, his hair as messy as ever, one of his arms was on Kenma's head, just showing how much longer he was than him.
You watched as Kenma's eyes averted to the big group of girls watching them, his eyes widening with anxiety as he turned his gaze immediately to the ground, causing his hair to fall in his face and hide him.
"Oh, hey Kuroo-Kun!" The captain exclaimed with a bright smile as she went towards them, hopping like a bunny.
"Hey." He greeted her back, the sleazy smile on his face causing your heartbeat to double, even though you didn't want to admit. "I thought you said you were going to be done with training by four." You knew Kuroo didn't mean it negatively, though the captain looked like she was panicking, looking around frantically to find a good excuse.
"Ah, w-we have a newbie, you see. We kinda had to move slower for her to catch up." She finally answered as her eyes found yours, though instantly turned back to Kuroo's cat-like ones.
You grimaced at the sudden attack, trying to stop yourself before you blurted out that she was lying. You understood why she would do so, but you hated it when people used you in their lies. "Oh, a newcomer," Kuroo muttered, his eyes wandering in the room lazily, as he tried to find your figure. Of course, Kuroo knew you were new in the team, he was the one who challenged you in the first place, but the cheerleading team didn't know that, and neither of you had the intention to tell them.
"She just came, so she's still pretty slow." The captain continued with a small giggle, her words making your heart sink. It was true, you were new, but you had been practicing the last few weeks, and you had almost caught up with the rest, so it wasn't fair of her to say so.
Though Kuroo seemed to pay her no mind, instead, he walked towards you with a grin on his face. "New meat!" He joked -it was really bad, though you managed to force a laugh out- and the captain followed him, now both standing next to you and watching your every move like animals watching its prey.
Kuroo seemed like he wanted to chat with you, though before he could do so, the captain sighed. "Though we're not sure if she's even going to be able to come to the match."
Your eyes narrowed, but you chose to stay silent.
"Why is that?" Kuroo asked, confusion evident on his face with the sudden and unwanted information. "Oh, she's failing chemistry, so sensei didn't let her come to the match."
"If I fail the exam, I won't be able to come." You added when she talked about it like you had already failed. "Oh, yeah! That's what I said." She told you with an innocent smile.
You would have said something, but before you could do so, you heard the familiar sound of a volleyball hitting the ground. The captain's eyes gazed at Lev, who had just done a spike and was screaming victoriously. "Guess that means our time is over." She giggled like what she said was funny.
"The practice is over girls, go get some rest!" She ignored the grunts of relief coming from your team and turned back to Kuroo. "You know, it was nice seeing you. Don't you think we should do this more often?"
You really didn't want to hear them flirting, so you went to change your clothes without saying anything to them.
***
You were the last one to finish changing and stepped out of the room as you tried to detangle your headphones. You were so concentrated on doing so, that you didn't even see the boy leaning to the wall, watching you.
"Hey," he muttered, making you shriek in surprise. The way your widened eyes looked at him, he couldn't help but giggle.
"What the fuck, Kuroo!" You exclaimed, trying to get the shock wash away as you breathed deeply. "Hey, I'm the 6'2 (187 cm for people like me hehe) one here, how should I know you're dumb enough not to see me?"
"How should I know you would creep up on me like that?" You shot back, and although you knew it was kind of your fault, you weren't going to admit that to him.
He looked at you with a fake I'm offended look. "First of all, I didn't creep up on you."
"Then what are you doing here?" You asked, though your voice was a little softer this time. He hadn't actually waited for you, did he? No, he wouldn't do that, unless...unless he wanted to tease you about the chemistry thing.
You sighed as you finally understood why he was here, looking at you with that lazy smile and taking your breath away in the process. "Ah, look if you're here about me failing chemistry, please shut it." You told him as you rolled your eyes. "The captain already had a lot to say about it." You murmured, your words not really intended for him to hear.
"Well," his hand went to the back of his neck, blush dusting his cheeks ever so slightly, his odd hair falling to his face, making you wonder what would it feel like if you were to run your finger through them. Would it be soft? Spiky? Or maybe-
"I was actually going to tell you I could... uh... help you with that, ya know." The lazy smile now resembling a little boy's grin, you would have thought he was embarrassed if you didn't know better.
Your narrowed eyes found his, trying to understand the motive behind his words. " What do you mean, help me with that?"
He giggled at your question. He had an expression on his face, one you were so used to see, though couldn't yet understand what it meant. It kind of looked like he wanted to ruffle your hair and pinch your cheeks, but not quite. "Help you with chemistry, how else?"
You bit your lip, trying to find out what he was up to. "And what are you getting out of it?" You finally asked as you gave up trying to understand him.
"I’m a good person too, you know." He told you with a huff, he still had his teasing manner, though. "Can’t I be doing this out of my goodness?" If it were anyone else saying this, you might have believed them, but not with Kuroo. Sure, you joked around and teased each other, but your whole friendship -if you could call it that- was based on challenges, bets, deception, and who would trick who.
"No way I'll believe that. I'm not dumb, you know." You murmured the last bit since it kind of bothered you since it seemed like everybody thought so.
"Though you're failing chem, arent you?" He teased, causing you to send him a glare. "I-"
You were ready and steady to fight with him over that comment, but he only giggled and put his hand on your shoulder as if he was trying to steady or calm you. His hand was unconventionally warm, fingers calloused and hard, though it didn't bother you the slightest bit. It was rather scary how much you enjoyed his touch.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." He told you, laughing as he shook his head side to side. "You're too easy to rile up, ya know? I'm offering to help since it's me who challenged you to join the cheering team, so you might kind of say it's my fault at this point."
When you kept looking at him, he furrowed his brows. "I'm telling you I'm just feeling guilty! It's nothing too complicated." He looked rather hurt at how suspicious you looked.
"And?" You pressed on, knowing too damn well it wasn't only his conscious that led him to reach a helping hand at you. There had to be something else.
He sighed finally, obviously giving up. "And- I kinda wanna see you cheering for me." He grinned. "Call it 'satisfacting my ego'." He only grinned wider when you shot him a disgusted look.
"I knew there was something else." You just muttered.
"Eh," He shrugged. "I'm gonna need every boost I can have if I'm going to play against Oikawa." He said it so casually, you couldn't perceive what he said for a second or so.
"You're- you're playing against Aoba Jousai?" You blurted out, mouth agape. You hadn't even realized till now that you didn't even know who they were playing against. Clearly, he was thinking the same thing.
"You didn’t even know? And you're supposed to be our cheerleader." He clicked his mouth in a disapproving manner and shook his head side to side.
You ignored his remark. "There is no way you can win against him, you know."
He snickered at your blunt response. "I see you've become especially good at cheering and motivating."
You grinned. "Shoot me for telling the truth. It's Oikawa we're talking about."
"And? What about him?"
"He's one of the hottest and most talented men around, and you know it." You told him as you watched his grin fade to annoyance. "He's not hot!"
"No need to get all jealous, Kuroo." You giggled when he grimaced. "Me? Jealous of that- that... guy?!"
You shrugged just to piss him off.
"Well then, what will you do when we beat your oh-so-great Oikawa?" His playful grin was back, now wider than ever, and it pissed you off, how good he looked.
"Is that a bet?"
"Of course it is." He answered, like it was only normal.
"I'm not betting against my own team!" You exclaimed, feeling your cheeks heating up a bit. How did teasing him come to this, anyway?!
"What will you do?" He pressed on, and you were aware he wouldn't let it go until you bet with him, so you sighed as if you accepted defeat. "What do you want me to do?"
"Hmm," He tapped his chin as he considered the choices (he had been trying to make this bet with you for a week and had been planning how to get you to agree to it, it was surprisingly easy, though, since he was a mastermind at planning and stuff, even though he didn't show it much). His honey-colored eyes glistened when he decided what he wanted you to do. "You're gonna wear those cat ears for a week."
By those cat ears, he meant the ones that were a part of the cheering costume but were excluded since they were too hard to dance with. The first time you tried them on, Kuroo had laughed ten minutes straight and would've taken a photo if you hadn't ripped them off your head and threw them right in the middle of his face.
"Oh, it’s on." You shot back without thinking much about it. "Only if you wear them a week if you lose against them, too, though." You added with a smile that warmed his heart.
"Deal." He grinned.
You had no idea that he had been planning this for a long time, so what seemed like an innocent, fair bet was actually almost guaranteed you to lose. The penalty was the first thing he had thought about the bet, the rest came later to him, so he was literally planning how to get you to wear those cat ears for... a month. Not that you needed to know about that, though.
"Deal." You smiled.
***
You watched as Kuroo jumped, so high, that it made you wonder if he could secretly fly. His hand up in the air, coming down so fast to spike the ball. A grin was on his face, knowing damn well what you were probably thinking, as you watched him.
He smacked the ball with so much force, you gasped. You always knew he was strong, and he was fast -he was the Nekoma team captain, after all- but you never knew he was... this good.
When he landed back on his feet, looking at your flustered face was the first thing he did. Your mouth still slightly agape as you watched the ball that was now on the other side of the court, Kuroo thought it was one of the cutest things he saw.
"So," he asked with a cocky grin, "Still think Oikawa is better than me?"
You stood silent for a few seconds and then looked at his golden eyes. "Are you kidding me?!" You exclaimed, and just when he thought he was finally going to see you admitting he was, in fact, better than that Oikawa guy, you chuckled. "Oikawa could murder you, Kuroo. Don't get too full of yourself."
"What?" He asked in a rather cold voice that sent chills down your spine, though knowing it was just Kuroo, you ignored the threatening tone. "Don't try to intimidate me with that look, you asked the question, so you should be prepared for the answer, too."
"Did you- did you not see my spike just then? It was amazing!" You shrugged like it wasn't a big deal, knowing he was fuming inside. He was going to keep on arguing, if it wasn't for Lev, who was cheerfully calling out for you.
''Y/N-san, could you throw me some balls, too?" He told you when he came next to you in two long strides.
"Sure-" You answered, but Kuroo interrupted. "No."
It was the threatening, cold voice he used that always managed to frighten Lev, just a little bit. "But Kuroo-san! She's been throwing you balls the last hour!" He whined, making you giggle. "He's right, you know. It's only fair if I help him, too." You told Kuroo, desperately trying not to laugh when you saw him pouting.
"No! He can work with Kenma, I'm the one that's helping you with chemistry, aren't? So you should help me with this." He told you, his hand pulling you away from Lev and closer to himself.
"You're the one who suggested helping me! And you forced me to throw you balls, too."
You shook your head side to side when Kuroo ignored you. "Lev, you either go practice spikes with Kenma right now, or you're running laps the rest of the practice."
You saw Lev's eyes widening as he hurriedly walked towards Kenma, though muttering to himself, "This is no fair. He gets to practice with the pretty girl!"
Kuroo took another ball from the basket and gave it to you, though he was still pouting. "I can't believe you were really going to choose him over me. You should be happy you're getting to practice with me. But no, it's always someone else, isn't it?" He mumbled under his breath as you bit your lips to try and not laugh. You knew he was only joking, he always was.
You sent the ball to the air, just a bit over his head as he jumped and hit the ball, harder than the last time, and with the sound of his hand hitting the ball, you also heard a pained grunt coming from him.
He sat on the floor, clutching his hand to his chest, and you felt your heart beating rapidly in your chest at the sight. "K-Kuroo, what happened? Are you okay? We should go to the infirmary!"
You tried to get him to stand on his feet, but he shook his head side to side, rather pulling you to sit down next to him. "I'm okay," he told you with a small smile. "It came straight down on my finger, so it hurts a little, but it happens more than you would believe. I should just bandage it, putting some ice on it would help, too."
Hearing it wasn't a big deal did have its effect on your crazy heartbeat, slowing it a bit, but you were still worried more than you would like to accept. You stood up, quickly gathering some bandages and ice, and walked back to him.
As you took his hand and analyzed the finger, you noticed it was only a bit red and that he was right, it wasn't a big deal, but you were still mad at him. "What the fuck, Kuroo?!" You muttered angrily as you pressed the ice on his hand, he hissed with the sudden contact.
"I didn't do it on purpose!" He shot back.
"You have to be more careful! What if something else had happened? What if it wasn't just okay with ice and bandages?! The school and your team need you, you know they do!"
You sighed when he stayed silent. "I thought you wanted to beat Oikawa, and you can't do it injured. You want to wear those cat ears, I presume?" You joked, and he smiled.
"So you think I can beat him if I'm not injured, huh? I think it's you who wants to wear the cat ears."
You noticed your mistake, your cheeks burning slightly, but chose not to answer him since you knew he would just tease you further if you did. "Here you go, it's all better." You told him when you were done with bandaging.
"Aren't you gonna kiss it better?" He asked with a teasing grin, and you rolled your eyes. "In your dreams, you big baby."
"But it still hurts, Y/N! It can't get better if you don't kiss it! The team needs me, you said it yourself!"
"Kuroo," you groaned, but he just pointed at his cheek. "Come on, no need to be shy." That jerk and his stupidly good looking grin. You weren't really sure why, but you leaned in, your face getting closer to his cheek. You only noticed what you were actually doing when you were so close to him that you could smell the light scent of smell mixed with his natural, woody scent.
"You stink." You lied.
"But you were about to kiss it better!" He whined as you stood up, and internally screamed at yourself for actually considering kissing him. "Shut up, I'm tired. Just text me when you're done with the practice." You told him as you walked to the exit, you needed the fresh breath of air.
***
"I deem you beyond hope. These are the basics of chemistry. How -the fuck- are you so bad at them?"
"I don't know!" You groaned for the millionth time. "I just can't do it, okay?" He rolled his eyes when you pouted. Maybe you were acting a tad too childish, but no one liked to be reminded of how dumb they were, especially not from a guy as hot as him.
"Okay, okay." He finally said when you kept pouting. "Let's take a break." He didn't miss your cute smile when you heard the word 'break'.
"How are you so bad at it, anyway? You're not as bad in the other subjects..." He then realized he had no idea how your other subjects were. "Right?" He asked, this time a little less confident.
"No." You told him with a glare. "It's something between me and chemistry, we just don't get along." You sighed, and without thinking much about it, you added, "chem is a mystery to me." Not expecting his eyes to widen and gasp at your small word game, you quirked your brow. "What?"
"Did you- did you just do a joke?!" He looked so genuinely shocked, you pouted.
"I am capable of joking!" You answered his accusation, noticing his grin. "Huh," he mumbled, "Since you never laugh at mine, I thought you just didn't understand them."
"I'll strangle you, Kuroo." You answered though you were smiling. "You were about to kiss me an hour ago, what's with the attitude?" He teased, and he thought it was the best thing, how horrified you looked at the accusation.
"I- I didn't- I wasn't going to-" As you choked on your words, he was having the time of his life. You faked a cough to try and hide how flustered you were, a pathetic attempt, really.
"Huh? You weren't going to kiss me? Is that what you're saying? Are you a liar, too, Y/N-chan?"
"Kuroo, shut the fuck up." You mumbled when you finally found it in yourself to form words. "How rude, princess." He giggled, dropping the topic and not even realizing the effect the pet name had on you.
"Don't call me that, jackass." You tried to be as rude as you could to hide the soft part of you showing, but he noticed, he always did.
"What, princess?"
When you didn't answer him, he grinned and leaned a little closer to you. "Is it making you excited, princess?"
"No way!" You blurted out. "Why should I get excited over you? It's just- weird." You answered, and he didn't press it on, though you could still feel his mocking eyes on you, grinning like the Cheshire cat.
***
"Hey!" You called out when you saw one small and one abnormally tall silhouette. "Kenma, Lev, could you guys help me out a bit?" You had two large boxes on your hands, hiding your face from them, but they instantly knew who you were.
"What are you doing?" Lev asked as he took the larger box from you, Kenma was holding one of the small boxes you had left behind to get on a second trip.
"Oh, it's the cheerleading equipment, they asked me if I could take them."
"All of them?" Kenma asked, a brow quirking questioningly. "Yeah, you know, being new and stuff I guess." You told with a little giggle.
"Yeah, no." Kenma told you with a monotone voice. "It's not being new and stuff, and don't think we missed how they're acting towards you." He looked at Lev. "Even he noticed it."
"Hey, what does that mean?!"
"They're not the kindest people around, that I admit." You answered. "But it's not unbearable, so..." You sent him a cheeky grin.
Kenma shrugged. "Whatever you say, just know what they're doing is not normal, and it's probably just gonna get worse."
You knew he was right, but the topic made you uncomfortable, so you just shrugged.
***
Hanging out with Kuroo was fun, you had to admit. Even though you were just studying, it was too much fun.
"How are you feeling? Are you stressed? Do you think you're ready? Do you think you'll pass? Oh my god, why am I so stressed?!" Kuroo blabbered on as he shook you by your shoulders with every word. "I'm okay, Kuroo. I'm feeling pretty good, actually, I think I'm ready."
He looked at you with worried eyes, though they looked a bit more relieved than they were just then.
"Okay, then. Go break a leg? Is that what you're supposed to say in situations like this?" Oh, shoot. Did he have to look so damn cute, worrying over you?
You chuckled as you shrugged, ignoring the warm feeling spreading through your body. "I'm not sure. You knew you didn't have to come all the way here, though, right?" He had insisted that he was going to drop you to the exam, and wait until you came back. He said he might even buy you a slice of cheesecake after if it went well, and who were you to say no?
"I wanted to come." He looked at his phone screen to check the hour. "Okay, you have to go now, but I'll be right here."
You weren't sure why, but that sentence filled you with a confidence you never knew you had. You felt like... you felt like if he was right here, supporting you, you could even overcome your greatest enemy, chemistry.
"Y-yeah, okay." You mumbled, turning around to go to school, but stopped when he suddenly shouted, "Wait!" You turned around, worried there was something you forgot -there was always something you forgot- but your worries died when you saw him grinning.
"Aren't you gonna ask for a good lucks kiss?"
"Oh my god, Kuroo." You rolled your eyes, once again turning to go, but this time he didn't let you walk away, not without a hug. "Well then, here's a good luck hug instead." As you felt his long arms around your body, you froze in your place, forgetting to even breathe.
He was warm, not a disturbing warm, though, the kind that caused you to smile, that made you feel safe, that made you think if he kept his arms around you, nothing bad could happen. So instead of pulling back, you wrapped your arms around him too, closing your eyes with the feeling and not even realizing that you were nuzzling your face in his neck.
You didn't notice the relieved smile that was on his face when you hugged him back, since he was half-sure you were going to push him away, he closed his eyes too and wrapped you even tighter, trying to etch this feeling in his mind so he could remember forever.
You could feel his face touching your hair, your bodies pressed together, you wondered if he could hear how hard your heart was beating. When he pulled back after a while, you felt a bit disappointed that it ended but hid that expression nonetheless. Now you couldn't stop thinking just how good he smelled and felt.
"Uh, thanks for that, I guess." You told him with an awkward giggle. "Sure thing, all you gotta do is ask, princess." He told you with a wink, causing you to roll your eyes and walk away.
***
Kuroo was a man of his word, so he waited two hours on exactly where you both had hugged each other.
When he realized he could still feel your lingering scent when the wind blew slightly and smiled, Kuroo knew he was in deep. He had never meant for it to go this way, he liked this weird thing you both had, constant teasing and challenging each other. He had no idea when he had caught feelings, but Kuroo wasn't a simple man, he knew that when he had feelings towards someone, it was too damn hard for him to let go.
He couldn't stop thinking about the hug that had passed just then, how you felt between his arms, how amazing you smelled, how good of a fit you two were.
So when he saw you exiting the school, he couldn't (didn't) suppress the smile that was forming on his face, and it only grew wider when you smiled back.
"How was it?" He asked when you came towards him. "It was gre-" Before you could finish your sentence, you found yourself pulled into a tight hug once again, though this time you didn't fight it one second.
"That's very nice to hear." He muttered into your hair, and you giggled. "I remember a promise about a cheesecake." You told him with a cheeky smile when his arms let go of your figure, that looked tiny next to him.
"Huh, cheesecake? Nope, can't think of anything related to that."
"Kuroo!" You whined.
"What? I don't even like cheesecake! How could I have known your exam was going to be okay when you suck this bad at chemistry?" He protested.
He still took you to eat cheesecake, and not only one slice, but as much as you'd liked.
"So, you're gonna cheer for me, huh?" He told you as he watched you chew on the giant piece of cake you had just gotten in your mouth. You could swear he was only asking questions when you were chewing, cause it was a little too often his questions had caught you munching on food, at this point.
You glared at him as he shot you an innocent look, he grinned like a mad man the whole time you tried to swallow your bite. "I don't know, I haven't decided yet." You finally answered.
"You can't tell me you're going to cheer for that Oikawa guy." He huffed, though you knew he was damn serious at his question. "No, I'm going to cheer for Lev." You shot back, and he groaned.
"You're forgetting that I'm paying for all these." He grinned, causing you to choke on the bite you just took. He laughed and passed you the water, watching you drink it down.
"Yeah, you're right." You told him with a cheeky grin.
***
"Oh, shit, I'm so fucking stressed, I'm going to die." Yaku mumbled. "You don't have to be stressed, Yaku-san! You practiced so much, I know you're going to win!" Your captain cheered excitedly. (you forgot about her, didn't you, haha)
Huh, you thought. Maybe Kuroo was right about you sucking at giving motivation.
"Thanks." Yaku mumbled with an awkward smile, trying to escape from her overly cheerful manner.
"Kuroo-san, how are you feeling?" She asked as she walked towards him, making the girls in your team giggle with anticipation. "I'm okay, thanks." He mumbled, his eyes searching through the crowd, stopping when they found you. Without even noticing that the cheerleader captain was talking to him, he walked towards you with a mocking grin on his face.
"I need to get my good luck kiss before I go on the court, you know. And this time, I'm not settling for a hug." It might have been something you could laugh at, if you weren't in public and both of your teams weren't looking at you, mouths agape, eyes widened with shock.
You could hear Kenma face-palming himself.
"Sh-shut it, Kuroo! It's not the time for teasing." You told him, feeling your cheeks heating up.
"Come on, just one kiss." He continued as he leaned in, caging you and leaving you breathless. You knew he was joking, but no one else did, and sometimes, you weren't so sure either, especially when he looked at you like that.
So you did the best thing you could.
You ran away.
Not bothering to look back or answer his questions, you ran until you couldn't see him. You had no idea how you were going to explain this to your team, especially to the captain. She didn't like you already, and this was probably just going to make everything worse.
So you stayed there until you heard Nekoma being called out on the court, leaving the room half-heartedly, scared of what you were going to face.
You could feel the lingering eyes on you, hear the whispers following you, and you did your best to ignore them, but you knew you could break down crying any second now. When you saw the captain glaring at you, you bit your lip, trying to focus on the dance.
You could feel the boys looking at you to see if you were okay or not, trying to get you to look at them too, but you refused to do so since you were a little scared of what you would see.
Though the whispers and glares toned down and died when the game started since the game took all your attention. You watched as Kenma passed the ball to Lev, he jumped so high and hit the ball so hard, you gasped. The ball passed between Aoba Jouhsai and Nekoma, neither of them looking like they were going to accept losing.
You could see everyone giving their bests, even Kenma looked fired about the game, Lev blocking the ball like his life depended on it, Oikawa using tricks and strategies that just amazed you.
The game was breathtaking, every touch on the ball had you gasping, making you sit on the edge of your seat, turning your knuckles white.
The only times you could hear the whispers running after you were the times there were breaks, and the cheerleading team was dancing on the court.
Wasn't this supposed to be fun? It felt like torture, instead. You could feel your teammates nudging you with an elbow every once and then, causing you to lose your balance, snickering when you stumbled. At this point, you were just counting minutes till the game ended.
Kuroo must've noticed something was wrong since, at one point, he started to wave at you until you saw him, and when you looked at him, he sent you a thumbs up as if he was trying to ask if you were okay, not noticing he was the problem.
You just plastered a smile on your face and nodded your head, trying to make him go back to the game. He sent you a cheeky grin in response, now more determined to win more than ever.
The game went on, and it was finally the third and the last set. To give the team more of a boost, the cheerleading was going on on the side of the court.
You would've enjoyed this, you really would, if it weren't for the now rougher pushes you've been getting from the other girls. It was starting to hurt, you had to admit, and not only physically, too. No one liked being laughed at, especially when they had no one to help them get through this, and you were feeling more alone then you have ever felt before.
Though all your thoughts disappeared when you saw Kuroo jumping with all his might and hitting the ball Kenma had just sent him. The ball went straight down, without anyone on the other side of the net being able to receive it.
He had scored the match point. They won, you realized.
Your eyes wide, hands up in the air, shaking the black and red pompoms in your hand as you cheered with the rest of your team, beaming with happiness.
You suddenly noticed the cat-like eyes on you, and your eyes found him too. He was grinning widely, everyone around him screaming with victory, and it somehow felt like the time had stopped as you looked at each other. His arms were wide open as if he was inviting you for a hug, his lips were moving like he was trying to tell you something, and you focused your gaze on is lips, narrowing your eyes and leaning a bit closer-
You felt a sharp pain on the side of your body, leaving you breathless for a second or more, making your eyes water, and because you were leaning forward and your focus was fully somewhere else, you couldn't find your balance, falling forward.
You would've fallen right on your face if you hadn't put your hand on the ground in instinct, but now it was your hand and your ankle which had twisted badly when you fell, that had taken the blow. You looked up, just to find one of the girls looking at you with an uninterested pout, though you weren't sure who it was that had pushed you.
You could feel your eyes stinging with tears unshed, your ankle and wrist throbbing with pain, and it wasn't even the pain that caused you to tear up. You felt so self-conscious, falling in front of all these people, in front of him, you wanted to run away.
Trying to stand up, you gasped as you felt the pain in your ankle, just making the stinging in your eyes and the lump in your throat worse. You knew you would've fallen once again if it wasn't for the sudden support under your arms.
You couldn't recognize him for a second with the cold, almost scary look he had on his face, his eyes looking threateningly sharp as he helped you stand on your legs, walking you out of the gym.
Neither of you talked until you were finally alone in a room, and he had sat you on the bench. He sat right next to you, and the silence was unbearable, but you knew the second you attempted to talk, you would break down crying.
He somehow seemed to know that, so instead of trying to make you talk, you felt his hands wrapping you in a tight hug, and that was when you lost control over your emotions. You couldn't help the tears running down your face, wetting your cheeks, the sobs shaking your body between his arms, your arms hugging him even tighter as you replayed everything in your mind.
"I'm sorry," you managed to mumble between your sobs, "I'm so sorry, Kuroo." You didn't know why exactly you were apologizing, maybe it was because he had to be here with you instead of celebrating his victory, or maybe something else.
You stopped apologizing when you felt his hand touching your hair so softly, you almost couldn't feel it. "Shh," he whispered, "it's okay, no need to be sorry."
You nodded, you weren't even sure how long you stayed in that position, but you had already stopped crying when he talked again. "Are you feeling better now?"
You nodded, not even trying to pull back since it felt too good to be between his arms. His hand was still caressing your hair, though it was a little different this time since you felt something sliding between your hair, something that suspiciously felt like a headband with a pair of cat ears.
You tried to suppress your smile, but couldn't, so you just giggled. "You asshole." You mumbled and felt the laughter bubbling in his chest.
"I love you too, princess."
Epilogue:
You were sitting on the couch as Kuroo gathered the snacks. It was movie night, though as you surfed through the channels, you found something even more interesting.
"Baby, come quick! It's live from Oikawa's game." You told him as you watched the game a little too closely, Kuroo noticed. As an attempt to keep his girl, Kuroo sat right next to you on the couch, an arm wrapped around your shoulders. You could feel him pulling you closer and closer to himself every time you gasped or cheered for Oikawa until you were almost on top of him.
"Tetsu, are you jealous?" You finally asked, desperately trying to hold yourself from laughing at his pouting face.
"Jealous? Why would I be jealous?" You were going to say something, but he answered his own question. "Because my girlfriend is far more interested in a guy on tv than her boyfriend that's sitting right next to him?"
"I'm not interested in him!" You protested, trying to ignore the amazing spike Oikawa just did, but he noticed it. Pouting and looking away -though not attempting to get away from you whatsoever- he looked like a little boy.
"Ah, come on, you know you'll always be my number one." You told him with a giggle, and you knew when you pecked his cheek with a light kiss, he couldn’t stay mad at you.
"You know, you really hurt my feelings there." He muttered though he was grinning as he leaned his face closer to yours.
"Did I?" You asked with an equally cheeky grin, and he nodded, now even closer that you could feel the heat radiating from him.
"I kinda need you to kiss it better."
Kiss it better, you did.

Kiss me so you won’t forget
》 35 An awkward kiss given after a first date. / Kuroo Tetsurou

Synopsis: 6 year old you sealed your promise with Kuroo with a kiss (on the cheek, but its still a kiss... right?) A promise that you would remember and wait each other until Kuroo could buy you a ring. You still remember, but does he?

Even though you weren't exactly best friends, you knew who Kuroo Tetsurou was, and really, who didn't? He was the captain of the volleyball team, one of the most handsome guy around, so smart and so cool, and also your first kiss.
Okay, okay, maybe not your first kiss- it was a small peck on the cheek, but you still counted it. You remembered the day it happened, you and he were playing in the playground, and even though you had just met that day, you felt like you knew each other forever.
He had told you he was going to marry you at the end of the day, and you still remembered the proud smirk on his lips as he promised you, his warm -and dirty- hand holding yours, those odd, golden eyes sparkling. "Just wait," he had told you, "wait till I can buy a ring." You nodded, trying to hide your joy from him.
"Promise me you won't forget me, 'kay?" He told you with a serious face.
"Okay." You had muttered, fidgeting your hands.
"And if I see any other boy here playing with you, I- I-" when he couldn't think of any threats, he held your other hand too, now holding both your hands, looking deep into your eyes. "I'll be really sad."
At that, you had smiled sweetly, without thinking much about it, you leaned in, and your lips touched his chubby cheeks. "I won't forget," you giggled, a kiss worth a promise. "But you have to promise you won't forget either."
And here you were, still remembering the day as clear as day, knowing it was a childish game, but still waiting. You had never forgotten about him, even though you hadn't seen him ever again, not until the first day of college, anyway.
A freshman, standing in the middle of the almost empty room, looking around like a fish out of water. You had no idea where your class was, and it didn't help to know your first ever lesson was Chemistry, your arch-nemesis. You thought of asking help from the people around you, but they all looked too mean for you, like they all were watching and snickering at you. Well, it was an exaggeration, they didn't really care about your presence there, and although some were laughing at the fish-out-of-water expression you had on your face, it was because you reminded them of their first day.
Still, even though the paranoia you felt wasn't rational, it was there. So asking just anyone was out of the question. Chewing on your inner lip, you walked out to the hallway, hoping you could at least find a teacher so you could ask where the fuck the chemistry lab was. But instead of going to the d-block as you should've, you found yourself out in the garden.
"Oh my god," you muttered to yourself, rubbing your temples as you looked around, this time even gathering to courage to go and as someone. That was when you saw a head of dyed blond hair bending over the game console in his hands, looking very uncomfortable as he sat on the very edge of the bench.
You didn't want to, but you found yourself walking towards the blond, his eyes never once leaving the screen, his fingers moving smoothly over the buttons.
"E- excuse me?" You muttered when you stood there a few seconds, and he didn't notice you. He visibly flinched at your voice, averting his eyes to you. "I'm, uh, I'm a freshman." You told him as if that explained everything. When he didn't answer, you cleared your throat. "I'm looking for the chemistry lab? I'm very late, and-"
"Kenma." You heard someone call from right behind you, the voice sending chills down your arms for an unexplainable reason. You turned around on your heels to see just who it was. He stood a few steps away from you, brows slightly furrowed as his golden eyes studied your face. Golden eyes that were too familiar. It didn't take you long to recognize who it was, the unruly, raven hair of his being the biggest hint.
(You were a bit surprised he kept the hair though, because really, what even is that?)
Your lips parted, letting out a small gasp as you recognized, connecting the memory from so long ago with the tall boy that stood before you. The way his eyes examined your face, he probably thought he had seen you before, and you waited for him to remember, heart pounding in your chest because finally-
"I've been looking for you all around." He spoke softly, voice laced with concern, and your eyes widened, gaping at him because his words could only mean that he remembered, he really remembered.
It took you a few seconds to realize he hadn't. His eyes weren't on you anymore, but on the small boy that slouched over his game. Kenma, ever the perceptive boy, noticed the slight slump of your shoulders, the disappointment that flashed in your eyes.
"I was here." Kenma shrugged, his eyes once again finding his game console. "Could you help her, though? She's lost, apparently, and I'm about to face the boss."
"Oh, sure." He shrugged, a grin suddenly appearing on his lips, eyes slightly narrowing in a flirtatious manner. "Freshman, huh?"
"That obvious?" You muttered, forcing a nervous laugh, and he chuckled. "Yeah."
~~~
The walk felt like an hour. You quickly noticed Kuroo was pretty popular by the looks and whispers that followed you both, and frankly, this was not the first impression you wished to give.
You anxiously fidgeted your hands, your gaze on your steps as he talked about... something.(what was he talking about again? You had forgotten to listen.)
"And, this is the chemistry lab." He told you, stopping suddenly and causing you to fall off balance. "Woah, careful." He grinned, holding you by the wrist before you fell flat on your face.
"Thanks." You told him with a giggle, biting your lip when you looked at the time. "The class is literally over in 10 minutes." You sighed. "I'll just skip it."
"Wow, rebellious, are we? And skipping chemistry? You must be out of your mind." He teased, chuckling. You shrugged, smiling back. "I don't really like chemistry anyway."
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that." He frowned, "come on, there are benches right around the corner so we can sit."
"Oh, it's okay, and you probably have classes anyway. Thank you so much for helping me, though." You told him with a smile, feeling bad for parting since he was fun to be around, but you didn't want him to feel like a babysitter.
"My next class is also in this block, don't worry about it. What's your next class? We don't want you to get lost again, you know?" He grinned, making heat rush to your face. "It's math... I think." You answered as you followed him to the bench.
"Here you go." He told you when he came back from the automat, a can of coffee in his hand. "The coffee tastes like shit, but it still does the job." He kept talking as he opened the can, making a face as he downed the coffee.
"Oh, shit." You coughed after you took a sip, making him laugh, the rich voice making you shiver. "I told you."
You sat there until the next lesson, the conversation never-ending, full of laughs, and it felt like that first day you had met. It felt like you knew each other all your lives, like you hadn't only met that day. Still, you neatly avoided ever talking about how you had met before -or that he had proposed to you-. It did kind of sting that he didn't remember when you hadn't forgotten all these years, but it was okay. You were kids, after all.
"You know, this was nice." He told you when you stood up to go back to your class, running one hand through his hair, he looked... nervous?
"It was, thank you for your help." You told him. "And the very bad coffee, too." You added, once again making him laugh. "It's a pleasure."
He bit on his lip, his eyes locked to yours as if he wanted to say something but couldn't. Or maybe it was... Did he finally remember?
"Would you like me to walk you to the class? Do you remember the directions?"
"It's okay, I remember." You chuckled, missing the letdown look in his eyes. "Oh, okay." He muttered.
Oh.
You turned around to walk to class, stopping mid-track when you heard him call your name. "Yes, Kuroo-kun?" You asked sweetly when he didn't say anything for a few seconds.
"I was thinking..." He muttered. "I can... you know, give you my number." He scratched the back of his neck anxiously. "So I can help if you ever get lost." He added when you didn't answer (you were still trying to process that he offered you his number?!)
"Oh, that would be amazing!" You told him a bit too excitedly. "Th- that's really sweet, thank you." You tried to suppress your grin as he entered his number into your phone.
"You can always text me." He told you with a fake chough that was meant to hide his embarrassment. "Not only when- I mean if you get lost, but also if you ever need any help. Or just anything, really." He chuckled when he noticed your flushed stare.
"You should probably go now," he told you. "You class is about to start."
"Oh, shit!" You muttered, starting to run as you realized he was right.
~~~
"Oh, hey Kenma!" You greeted your friend when he walked towards you. You were glad he had relaxed around you, feeling safe when it was just you two.
"Hey, Y/N." He greeted back quietly. "Waiting for Kuroo?"
You nodded with a shy smile, averting your eyes from his golden ones to your hands. "He should be here any minute now."
"I doubt it." Kenma shrugged. "He was trying to shape his hair last time I saw him. He has been working on it ever since." He snickered villainously. "And that was 3 hours ago."
You couldn't help but laugh at that, the image of Kuroo's frustrated face as he tried to rule his hair somewhat, making your shoulders shake with laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" You heard someone talk from right behind you and making you jump in your place. "N-nothing!" You answered instantly when you recognized him.
"I thought you were going to fix your hair." Kenma muttered, his words causing Kuroo's face to twist with shock, anger, and disappointment.
"I did fix my hair!"
~~~
A date with Kuroo Tetsurou.
You always imagined it would be amazing, but not this good. It was unfair how funny he was, how smart and good-looking. It was always enjoyable to be around him, but having his full attention on you, like this, romantically, was something else.
It hadn't taken long after that second first time you had met for him to ask you out. You were hanging out almost every day anyway, he usually accompanied you to your classes, sometimes even waiting for you.
So here you were. Kuroo had decided to go on a picnic for your first date, brought cookies and sandwiches and this time decent coffee, even fruits, and at least 20 bananas? You didn't ask him about the bananas, though.
You had been sitting there, on the top of the hill, for hours now. The sun had already set, stars showing up in the sky, but neither of you wanted to part.
Kuroo was leaning on a tree, his arm slumped on your shoulder, pulling you towards his chest. It didn't feel awkward or odd to be in this position with him, but you weren't sure why (or how). You skid closer to him, dropping your head on his shoulder, aware of the grin on his lips when you didn't push him back.
You sat like that for god knows how long, only deciding to go back when he noticed you were about to fall asleep between his arms. The ride back to your house was silent, the comforting kind that made you both smile. It was dark, the lights coming from the traffic every once in a while illuminating your pretty face, causing him to think this was yet another dream. He had no idea how he managed to make you fall for him, too, but Kuroo was grateful he did.
He tapped your shoulder slightly when you arrived, waking you up from your daze. "Y/N." He muttered, smiling. "We're here."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I think I fell asleep." You answered with a cheeky smile. "So I thought." He chuckled. "So, uh, thank you for today." He told you, rubbing the back of his neck and causing you to scream internally at how adorable he was.
"It was really nice." He kept on awkwardly when you stood silent and fiddled your fingers with your now unfastened seatbelt.
"I had so much fun, too." You answered, biting your lips as you thought of what to say next, but he acted before you.
"By the way, Y/N, you know this was a date, right?" He suddenly asked, the question leaving you dumbfounded. When you didn't answer him for a few seconds, he felt his eyes widening. "Y/N- are you seriosuly-"
"Kuroo, what the hell?" You asked, unable to control your laughter anymore. "Of course I knew this was a date!"
"Ah, damn, my heart almost stopped." He clutched his chest, only making your laughter louder. "Why would you even ask that?"
"Oh, I just... wanted to confirm it so I could tell you something." He muttered, not proceeding whatsoever. "And that is?.." You persuaded him, making him chuckle and lean forward to bring his face closer to yours. "I wanted to tell you that- that I like you. A lot." He finally admitted.
"I like you, too." You whispered, suddenly aware of how close his lips were.
"And I really, really want to kiss you."
"I'm not- I'm not stopping you." You confessed, making him chuckle just before his lips touched your lips. It was a small peck, his soft lips pressing yours slightly, his touch on your lips lingering a few seconds before he pulled back.
"I think-" He whispered, slightly breathless because of the excitement and the way his heart pounded in his heart. "I've fallen for you hard." He chuckled. "I'm not- Umm, I'm sorry our first kiss wasn't in somewhere more romantic, though." Kuroo told you, and you could see the slight disappointment in his eyes.
You bit your lip (the feeling of his lips still lingered on yours), chuckling anxiously. "You know, this wasn't exactly our first kiss." You shrugged.
"What?"
"I, umm, I did kiss you on the cheek before. To seal... a promise."
His brows furrowed, trying to understand what you were talking about, confusion evident in his eyes. "No, you didn't."
"Kuroo," you told him with a mysterious smile. "I did."
You opened the car door, knowing by the slight widening of his eyes, he was an eyelash away from remembering. "Well, good night." You smiled, enjoying the look of shock in his eyes.
You shut the door just as he shouted your name, "Y/N, wait, I remember!"
~~~
Even though you weren't mad at him for forgetting, Kuroo still made up for it with thousands and thousands of more kisses.
How to cure a broken heart

Synopsis: love might come in in various shapes. With Kuroo it came with a snowball.
Honorable mentions: tw cursing, it's 2.4k words, genre is fluff, hope you guys like it!!
Its a short lil fluffy Kuroo blurb since its snowing very heavy here and I kinda broke your hearts with that last angst lol

You never thought you were the type to partake in something so cliche, something as falling in love with your next-door neighbor. It was overused at this point, it wasn't even your favorite trope to read anymore, and you would've died laughing if someone told you you would meet the guy you fell in love with like this.
But overused as it is, it still came in as a surprise, and that was Kuroo Tetsurou for you, managing to make even the most monotonous thing surprising.
It was the morning after a night of heavy snow, hearing the rustle of walking on fresh, unpressed snow beneath your feet making you bite back a smile. It had been a while since it snowed this much where you lived, so you didn't refuse when your mother offered you to take a walk.
I'm sure you'll feel better if you take a breath of fresh air, she told you, taking note of your foul mood.
She was right, it smells like winter, and the familiar smell didn't fail to make you take a breath of relief, as if you were suffocating the past few days.
It had been a while since you even left your house, you realized, even before the quarantine started, you weren't the type to go out and socialize around the block. You usually met with your friends at a cafe around your school or an arcade or something, but it was rare for you to hang out in your neighborhood area, thus ended with you not knowing any of your neighbors.
You had never intended to get to know them either, but it wasn't your choice to make anymore when you noticed a perfect sphere of snowball flying towards you, you dodged it the last second with reflexes you didn't even know you had (you didn't. it was pure luck).
As you turned to where the snowball came from, your eyes locked on a smug, sneaky grin, obviously amused by the shocked expression on your face. It was a boy about your age, leaning proudly on a snowman that was almost as tall as him, his smile more noticeable even than his odd, inky black ruffle of hair or the piercing golden eyes that had something of a clever glint to them.
His grin felt infectious, and you could feel a smile tugging on the corners of your lips, and it was the smile that would never fail to make you smile back, except for that particular day.
It hadn't made you smile, nor had it disputed the mean frown on your lips as you quirked a brow at him, only making his grin spread wider on his lips. "Sorry," he muttered, not sounding the slightest bit apologetic, nor had he stopped smiling teasingly. "Didn't mean to throw it at you."
You took the apology with a soft nod, turning your back to him, and started walking, sighing when you felt a hand tap your arm gently.
"Hey, me again." He grinned, and you mustered a smile. "Hi." You answered back, pressing your lips together awkwardly.
"I'm Kuroo Tetsurou," he informed you. "Your next door neighbor, I think."
"Y/N, L/N." You answered, "nice to meet you, Kuroo-san."
"Nice to meet you, too." He then tilted his head, eyes grazing on you for another while, and he looked like he wanted to talk even more even though the conversation was very obviously over. "That was pretty impressive, you know?" Another smile formed on his lips as he scratched the back of his neck and averted his eyes away from you, and you could feel butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
"Thanks. Your snowman is pretty impressive, too." It was. The guy was almost 2 meters, and it made no sense for the snowman to be as tall as him, too, but it still was pretty impressive.
Not expecting him to throw his head back and start laughing loudly at your comment, you couldn't help but watch him like you were witnessing some miracle. You couldn't look away as he bent forward, holding his stomach all the while his body shook. It was infectious, you realized, since you also found yourself chuckling not half a minute later.
He took a deep breath as his laughter died, still chuckling now and then, he turned to you. "It is impressive, isn't it? Had nothing better to do in quarantine, you know?" He shrugged, trying to look modest, but he beamed with pride.
He weaved his hand through the raven locks of hair that fell on his face, making you wonder if they were as soft as they looked. You quickly discarded the idea.
"Well, I won't bother you any longer." He grinned, "but I'll see you around!"
You watched him as he turned his back to you, giving you just a second to admire how tall and broad he was before he flashed you one last smile and a wave.
~
You found yourself still smiling as you entered your house, tapping your feet on the wood to rustle off the snow off your shoes.
"Wow, maybe I should take a walk, too." Your mother teased when she took note of your smile and relaxed posture. "Did you have fun?"
"I met our next-door neighbor today." You told her after nodding your head. "The poor boy, approaching you at your moodiest. I hope he's still in one piece." She teased, brows quirking when you laughed along instead of protesting.
"Have you met him already?"
"Yeah, we crossed paths once or twice, cute boy. I think he studied in Nekoma Highschool?" She shrugged when she couldn't remember clearly. "Still, it's nice to see he was able to make you smile."
He was nice, you had to admit. Maybe you would pay him a visit to apologize for your -slightly- rude behavior today? Nah, you'd rather wait till the next time you crossed paths, you decided.
As you averted your eyes to the wall both the houses shared, you thought if you'd cross paths soon.
~
You did. The next day, if you wanted to be exact.
You were startled by the sounds coming from the bushes separating your garden from your neighbors, rasing from your chair, you gazed from the window to see what it was, only to see a head of messy black hair poking through the leaves.
It was impossible not to smile as you watched him lean towards something you couldn't quite see, reaching his hand to your garden and making kissing noises with a desperate expression on his face. "Mika," you heard him call out, "come here boy, that's not our garden."
It was a cat, you realized. (Either that, or he was a pervert.) Taking a breath of relief when you saw the furry tail of the animal, you thought it was time to show yourself (and tease him about it if you could)
"Kuroo-san?" You exited out to the garden, watching the boy as his eyes widened with shock, his body immediately pulling himself back, only to stay stuck between the branches of the bush. You stifled your laughter as he forcefully pulled his way out of it, cursing at the branches scratching him, his face flushing either because of the challenge he gave trying to free himself or of embarrassment.
"H-hi." He muttered as he finally regained his composure, tall enough to have a comfortable conversation with you over the bushes. (He could even lean in to kiss you over them without any problem, something you discovered sometime in the future)
"Are you okay?" You asked softly, still laughing as you watched him pull a small branch out of his hair.
"Yeah, I'm okay. More than okay, I was just- my cat ran into your garden, and I was trying to pull him back." He stammered as he noticed your chuckles. "Cat?" You repeated innocently.
"Yeah, my cat, he's right here- Mika?"
You couldn't hold your laughs back when you saw the baffled look on his handsome face when he noticed the cat wasn't there or anywhere to be seen.
"I swear he was right here!" He exclaimed, panicking. "I wasn't trying to peek in your garden, my cat- he- he-" He stopped his panicked explanation when he finally noticed how hard you were laughing. "You already knew, didn't you?"
"Yup, saw the whole thing." You answered between your occasional chuckles. "Wow, how mean!" He frowned, but you could tell he also found the situation amusing.
"You know, you didn't have to push through the bushes." You snickered. "you could just come in from the door like a normal person." A slight shade of red tinted his cheeks with your words, averting his eyes in embarrassment and scratching the back of his neck with a chuckle. "Yeah, that's probably a better idea."
It had turned into a routine quickly after that. Kuroo would knock on your window, a grin plastered on his face and waving at you from the other side of the glass.
At first, he always had some excuse, sometimes showing up with a plate of freshly baked cookies, telling you his grandma had cooked a little too much. "I'm sure you could smell them baking, and I didn't want you to miss out on the best cookies ever." He would beam. You didn't miss out on the smile that adorned his lips when you told him you could make coffee for the both of you and you could eat it together.
Talking with Kuroo was relaxing, at the very least.
He was a good listener, and his presence enough was soothing. He could calm you when you felt stressed, oddly good at it, too, laughing when you told him that one day. "I have a friend like this." He had shrugged. "A childhood friend, we used to live pretty close, too. I got used to it after a while, I guess."
He would watch you with thoughtful eyes as you spoke as if you were saying the most important thing, even if you were telling him about your day.
Kuroo was also one of the funniest people you knew. He had so many stories from when he was the captain of his volleyball team in high school, the things he told you always making you have a stomach ache from laughing so hard.
A friendship developing so quickly, it would usually end with you getting scared and pushing people who were getting so dear to you away from you, afraid of trusting them, even more than you did.
But not with him, you couldn't, wouldn't. Trusting Tetsurou didn't feel terrifying like it did with everyone else, instead, it felt good. It felt so safe, so cherishing to finally be able able to trust someone with everything you had, and you had never felt this protected and secure being so vulnerable with anyone.
It was the next winter you showed up in his garden, picking up snow from the ground and working on it for a few minutes to make sure you had two perfect spheres you felt all warm inside despite the cold weather.
Throwing the first snowball on his window, you grinned to yourself as you waited for the boy to come out, waiting for the chance to catch him off guard and hopefully manage to hit him square in the face.
Your eyes narrowed when he didn't come out after a few minutes, grabbing more snow from the ground and throwing another snowball on the window. This one you had sent a bit harder, and he must've heard it if he was at home.
When he didn't come out after that either, you frowned, standing up. Just then, you noticed a snowball flying towards you, dodging it the last second before turning that way with wide eyes.
"No-" You managed to choke out before the grinning boy wrapped his arms around you, caging your body against his, and threw himself on the snow, pulling you with him to be buried in the snow together.
"Tetsu!" You whined, even though you were laughing so hard that you were gasping for air. "That wasn't fair!"
"And yours was?" He laughed, his body still over yours, making it hard to breathe for you. "Get off me, I can't breathe." You managed to choke out between your laughter, your eyes lingering on his smiling lips that were a few inches away from yours.
"Because I'm so handsome?" He teased.
"No, because you're heavy." You answered, laughing even more when he faked a gasp.
"So mean, always breaking your boyfriend's heart." He shook his head side to side, not moving an inch that would allow you to squirm out from under his body.
"Come on," you whined, emphasizing the last word. "Lemme breathe!"
"Nope! You broke my heart, so painful that I can't breathe, either! It's only fair, chibi-chan." He grinned, making you roll your eyes.
"Okay, okay." You sighed. "What do you want?" You already knew what he wanted since ever since he had crushed you beneath his, his eyes had never left your lips.
"Let me think. How can you cure a broken heart?"
He had his answer when you leaned forward, pressing your lips to his smiling, soft ones.
