Unresolved Issues

"I can't keep going in circles with you, Michael. Either we leave the past in the past or I'm out." Eric said, his voice firm and resolute.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
As soon as they walked into the apartment, Michael and Eric knew they were going to argue. It was in the way they avoided looking at each other and the tense silence that hung between them.
Eric was the first to break it. "You know what, I can't keep doing this. Every time we have an argument, you bring up the past."
Michael looked at him, his expression hurt. "What am I supposed to do? Just forget about everything that's happened?"
"No, but it's like you hold on to every little thing I've ever done wrong and use it against me whenever we argue. I don't think that's fair," Eric said, his voice rising.
Michael shook his head. "I don't want to fight about this again. Can't we just move on?"
"Move on? How can we move on when you won't stop bringing up the past?" Eric replied.
The truth was, Michael didn't know how to move on. He had been hurt so many times in the past, he couldn't help but bring it up whenever they argued. But he also knew that it wasn't helping their relationship.
"I'll try to do better. I'll try not to bring up the past," Michael said, his voice softening.
Eric sighed and nodded. "Okay. But we also need to work on communicating better. We can't keep letting things build up until we explode."
They sat down on the couch together, taking a moment to just breathe. It wasn't the first time they had argued about the same thing, and it probably wouldn't be the last. But they both knew that they loved each other and wanted to make it work.
As they talked, they worked through their issues and came up with new ways to communicate and show their love for each other. It wasn't easy, but they knew it was worth it.
In the end, they both realized that they had unresolved issues from their past that were impacting their present. But with patience, understanding, and a willingness to work through them, they knew they could overcome anything.
They hugged each other tightly, feeling closer than ever before. The past may have brought them pain, but it also brought them to each other. And for that, they were grateful.

INT. JOHN'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
John is sitting on his couch, staring at a blank TV screen. He looks sad and distant. Mark walks into the room holding a beer.
MARK: Hey, babe, what's wrong?
John looks at Mark, but doesn't respond.
MARK: Come on, you can tell me. I'm here for you.
John takes a deep breath and speaks softly.
JOHN: It's just...I feel like you're not paying attention to me anymore. Like you don't care.
Mark sits down beside John and puts his arm around him.
MARK: What do you mean? Of course, I care about you.
JOHN: I know you do, but I feel like we're not connecting like we used to. We don't talk as much, we don't go on dates anymore...
MARK: *interrupting* I know, I know. I've been really busy with work lately, but that doesn't mean I don't love you.
John pulls away from Mark's embrace.
JOHN: Love isn't just a feeling, Mark. It's also about showing it. And I don't feel like you're showing me that you love me.
Mark looks down at his hands, feeling guilty.
MARK: You're right. I'm sorry, I didn't realize how important this was to you. I promise I'll do better.
JOHN: *skeptical* How will you do better?
MARK: We can start by putting aside some time each week just for us. We can go out to dinner, see a movie, or even just stay in. Whatever you want.
JOHN: *smiling* That sounds nice. Thank you for listening to me.
MARK: Of course, I love you.
John leans over and kisses Mark, and they embrace.

INT. THERAPIST’S OFFICE – DAY
TOM, a sensitive and curious man in his early thirties, sits across from LINDA, a warm and compassionate relationship coach.
TOM: *slightly nervous* So, Linda, I’ve been single for almost a year now and… I’m starting to feel really lonely. I had this long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend, it lasted for five years. But everything just ended so abruptly, and I still can’t quite figure out why.
LINDA: *sympathetic* Tom, it’s great that you’re taking the initiative to seek some answers. Relationships can be complicated, and it’s natural to have questions. Let’s start by exploring what you think might have gone wrong. Do you have any insights?
TOM: *thoughtfully* Well, looking back, I think one of the issues was that we didn’t communicate effectively. We both had different expectations, but we never really talked about them. And when problems arose, we didn’t address them constructively either. It all just built up until it became unbearable, I guess.
LINDA: *nods* Communication is indeed a crucial component of any relationship. It’s important to express our needs and desires, and also to truly listen to our partner’s perspective. What do you think prevented you both from having those conversations?
TOM: *sighs* I think we were both afraid of conflict and confrontation. We avoided difficult conversations because we didn’t want to upset each other. Looking back, I realize that avoiding those conversations only led to bigger issues later on.
LINDA: *supportively* It’s not uncommon for people to fear confrontation, Tom. But it’s important to understand that conflicts, when approached with compassion and respect, can actually strengthen a relationship. It’s about finding a balance between expressing yourself and being receptive to your partner’s feelings.
TOM: *nods* I see what you’re saying. We should have been open and honest with each other, even if it meant dealing with some uncomfortable moments. That’s something I definitely want to work on in my future relationships.
LINDA: *encouragingly* Absolutely, Tom. And remember, it’s not only about expressing your needs and concerns. It’s also about actively listening to your partner and trying to understand their perspective. Creating a safe space for open and honest communication can make a world of difference.
TOM: *sincerely* Thank you, Linda. Your insights have really given me a lot to think about. I’m determined to improve and make sure my next relationship has a solid foundation of open communication.
LINDA: *smiling* I’m glad I could help, Tom. Remember, learning from past experiences and growing as an individual is a beautiful journey. Just take it one step at a time, and I’m confident you’ll find the connection you’re looking for.
They both stand up, ready to embark on this new journey together.

INT. PARK BENCH - DAY
John, a 30-year-old man with a complex mix of nervousness and excitement, sits down on the bench next to Mr. Harrison, a handsome and kind-hearted man in his mid-40s. There is a palpable tension in the air.
JOHN: *trying to sound casual* Hey, Mr. Harrison! Beautiful day, isn't it?
MR. HARRISON: *smiling* It definitely is, John. How are you doing today?
JOHN: *nervously* Oh, you know, just the usual. Work, errands, and all that. But... um... there's actually something I wanted to talk to you about.
MR. HARRISON: *raising an eyebrow* Oh really? Well, go ahead. I'm here to listen.
John takes a deep breath, mustering up the courage to express his feelings.
JOHN: *quietly* I've been feeling something... for a while now. And I think it's time I tell you the truth. I... I've fallen in love with you, Mr. Harrison.
Mr. Harrison's eyes widen in surprise, but he manages to maintain his composure.
MR. HARRISON: *taken aback* John... I didn't expect this. I value our friendship, but I never saw you in that way. I'm flattered, really.
JOHN: *apologetic* I know, I know. It's just... I can't help how I feel. I've been trying to suppress it, but it's becoming harder every day. And I couldn't keep it a secret anymore.
Mr. Harrison stays silent for a moment, contemplating his response.
MR. HARRISON: *sincerely* John, I appreciate your honesty. You're a great person, and our friendship means a lot to me. But I have to be upfront with you too. I'm not sure if I can reciprocate those feelings romantically.
JOHN: *disappointed but understanding* I understand, Mr. Harrison. It's okay. I just needed to tell you how I felt. I value your friendship too much to let my feelings ruin what we have.
MR. HARRISON: *smiling gently* That's very mature of you, John. And I want you to know that I still want to be your friend. We can continue to spend time together just like we always have.
JOHN: *slightly relieved* That means a lot to me, Mr. Harrison. I'm glad we can still be friends. Maybe with time, my feelings will fade away.
They sit in a comfortable silence, both relieved by their open and honest conversation.
MR. HARRISON: *encouraging* Just remember, John, there's somebody out there who will reciprocate your feelings. You deserve to be happy, and I'm here for you no matter what.
JOHN: *smiling* Thank you, Mr. Harrison. Your support means everything to me.
They continue talking, their friendship stronger than ever, as they enjoy the rest of the beautiful day together on the park bench.

The Forgotten Promise

"I wish you could see how much your indifference is tearing us apart," whispered Alex, his voice heavy with unshed tears.
༺❀༻
Once upon a time in a small, quaint town nestled peacefully in the countryside, there lived a gay couple named Alex and Michael. They had been together for many years, their love growing stronger with each passing day. Their relationship was built on shared dreams, trust, and unconditional support.
However, as time went by, a cloud of sadness began to overshadow their once vibrant love. Michael, unintentionally, took their relationship for granted, becoming lost in the everyday demands of their busy lives. He never realized how much his actions were hurting Alex's heart.
Alex, ever so patient and understanding, silently bore the weight of his heartbreak. He longed for the affectionate gestures that had once showered their relationship with joy. Nights became colder, and days felt emptier as the void between them grew wider.
One evening, as the sun gently dipped below the horizon, Alex found himself wandering through the picturesque meadows on the outskirts of town. The beauty of nature served as a comforting balm for his troubled soul. It was here that he stumbled upon an ancient, moss-covered tree with a tree hollow that seemed to beckon him closer.
With curiosity guiding his steps, Alex peeked inside the hollow, discovering a fragile-looking piece of parchment. As he cautiously unfurled it, he saw words etched in elegant calligraphy:
"A promise forgotten can mend a broken heart."
Intrigued yet apprehensive, Alex returned home carrying the cryptic message with him. That night, after Michael had fallen into a restful slumber, Alex whispered heartfelt words into the stillness of their bedroom. He vowed to rekindle the forgotten promises they had once made to each other – to cherish, appreciate, and love one another unconditionally.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Alex's persistence and determination to heal their wounds never wavered. Slowly but surely, Michael began to notice the transformation in his partner. The thoughtful gestures that had been absent for so long started to peek through the cracks of their relationship.
With each surprise, smile, and tender touch, the walls that had separated their hearts began to crumble. Michael realized the immense love he had unwittingly taken for granted. It was then that he understood the depth of Alex's sorrow and the strength of his forgiveness.
Together, they embarked on a journey of rediscovering each other. They laughed, cried, and held each other tightly, never again allowing the flame of their love to flicker. With time, the gap that had threatened to consume them was replaced by a connection stronger than ever before.
The forgotten promise, discovered in the hollow of an ancient tree, had sowed the seeds of renewal. Alex and Michael's love story triumphed over heartbreak, reminding them that even when love is tested, it can still endure and flourish.
And so, they lived happily ever after, cherishing their love and vowing to never take each other for granted again.
INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY
John, a nervous but determined young man in his late 20s, sits at a table in a coffee shop, glancing towards the entrance every few seconds. Suddenly, Jamie, an attractive and friendly guy around the same age, walks in, carrying a book and wearing a warm smile.
JOHN: *excitedly* Oh, hey! Jamie!
JAMIE: *slightly surprised but friendly* Hey, John! How are you?
JOHN: *nervously* I've been good, thanks. Can I join you?
JAMIE: *sincerely* Of course, have a seat!
John gathers his courage and sits down across from Jamie. He takes a deep breath and begins the conversation.
JOHN: *awkwardly* So... I've been meaning to talk to you for a while now. I hope you don't mind.
JAMIE: *curious* No, not at all. What's up?
JOHN: *nervously* Well, I've noticed that we have a lot in common, and... I was wondering if you might be interested in going out sometime?
Jamie appears genuinely flattered but a bit taken aback.
JAMIE: *sincerely* John, I really appreciate your honesty, but I should tell you that I'm gay.
JOHN: *startled* Oh, really? I...I didn't know that. I'm sorry if I assumed something wrong.
JAMIE: *kindly* It's alright, John. It happens. Thank you for being understanding.
JOHN: *relieved* Of course. I just wanted to make sure I didn't misinterpret anything. No hard feelings?
JAMIE: *smiling* No hard feelings at all. I'm flattered that you're interested in getting to know me better, even if it doesn't work out romantically.
JOHN: *grinning* Well, in that case, would you be interested in grabbing a coffee as friends?
Jamie's smile widens, and he nods.
JAMIE: *sincerely* I'd love to, John. As friends, it is.
They both share a moment of relief and understanding, laughing together.
JOHN: *excitedly* Great! How about tomorrow evening? There's this new café that just opened downtown.
JAMIE: *enthusiastically* Sounds perfect! Count me in.
They exchange contact information and the conversation carries on, shifting to other shared interests and future plans.

Rain and Rebirth

Summer Love The Series
Summary: Flynn, devastated by her boyfriend's accident, is haunted by grief. One stormy night, her boyfriend appears at her window, alive but injured. The reunion washes away her sorrow, hinting at a new beginning for their love story.

Rain lashed against my window, mimicking the rhythm of my heart – a frantic, erratic beat that echoed the disarray in my soul. Clark. Even his name, whispered on a sigh, sent a fresh wave of sorrow crashing over me. We weren't supposed to be like this. Stolen glances across the classroom, whispered jokes, and stolen moments under the bleachers – that was how our story began. But then came the accident, the screech of tires, the sickening thud. Now, Clark was a memory, a ghost haunting the halls of my life.
Tonight, the phantoms were relentless. Every creak of the floorboard, every rustle of leaves outside my window, sent shivers down my spine. I yearned for the warmth of his embrace, the feeling of his hand slipping into mine. Tears welled up, blurring the already distorted world around me.
A choked sob escaped my lips, shattering the fragile silence. Burying my face in my pillow, I sank deeper into the quicksand of grief. Suddenly, a soft rapping at my window startled me. Heart pounding, I hesitantly peeked out.
There, illuminated by the streetlight, stood Clark. Not a spectral image, but him, in all his freckled, goofy glory. Rain plastered his hair to his forehead, and his clothes were soaked through, but the smile on his face could light up a thousand stormy nights.
Disbelief warred with a desperate hope in my chest. Throwing open the window, I gasped, "Clark? Is that really you?"
A grin, wider than the Cheshire Cat's, split his face. "Hey there, stranger. Heard you could use some company."
Without a second thought, I scrambled out of the window, ignoring the sting of rain on my bare arms. We stood there for a moment, the rain creating a curtain around us, the only world that existed being the space between us.
"How...?" I began, voice thick with emotion.
He cupped my face in his wet hands, his thumbs gently brushing away stray tears. "Let's just say I missed you too much to stay away."
His touch, so real, so familiar, sent a jolt through me. Leaning into his warmth, I whispered, "But the accident..."
"I'm okay," he said, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. "A little banged up, but okay. I woke up in the hospital thinking about you, and I knew I had to see you."
His words were a balm to my wounded soul. Relief washed over me, warm and sweet, chasing away the phantoms that had haunted me for so long. In that moment, under the relentless downpour, I knew our story wasn't over. It was just beginning, a little battered and bruised, but stronger, more precious than ever before.
“And every freaking time, I have to reintroduce myself to the universe all over again.”

Books similar to The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood:
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett and Extasia by Claire Legrand are both distopyas dense of religious fanatism and women's segregation, in which sexism and sexual prejudice are associated with various aspects of religion (e.g. belief, faith, and fundamentalism). This novel shows also how higher religious fundamentalism is associated with internalized misogyny and passive acceptance of traditional gender roles, and both hostile and benevolent sexism.
In The Grace Year the stereotype of a women as source of sin was laid down by the dominant religious authorities before the inception of widespread violence led by women against women, but after all the violence and blood, women learn the importance of sorority, female friendship and start to support and help each others.
The main source of conflicts are ribbons, which, in The Grace Year, are the sign of a women lifestage and the bride's ribbon is a valued price among most of the girls of the age of Tierney, the protagonist. The bride ribbons create a competition between girls to get bachelor’s attention, self-objectification, and humiliation toward each others. Although the competition eventually destroys most of them, this characteristic offers pleasure to those who survived their Grace Year. Tierney learns to survive on her own, learns that the religious values she was thought were wrong and learns also to appreciate her peer's friendship.
Extasia adds witchcraft and supernatural elements, but the main character (Amity) believes deeply in social conservatism—Amity has a preference for stability, conformity and the status quo— which is often a key trait of the religious experience, but also betrays deep feeling of self-hate.
In Extasia, the very patriarchal structures that decry witchcraft – the Puritan church in which the characters lives in and escapes from, the male headship to which the community so desperately cling, the insistence, in the face of repeated violence, on the sin of her mother – are the same structures that inevitably foreclose the options of the lead character, Amity.
To this two, I will mention also The Year Of The Witching by Alexis Henderson. In this novel, Immanuelle, a young woman living in a rigid, puritanical society, discovers dark powers within herself. This book is very similar to Extasia, but not such as good: Amity character is way more believable than Immanuelle and shows way more comprehension of the injustices committed in the name of the religion. The cult in Extasia contains more original elements and believing than the one in The Year Of The Witching, which seems more a copy-paste of mormon radical close-communities, including the elements of racial prejudice. Both Immanuelle and Amity live in the disdain of their own community because of the sins committed by their mother, which were both punished for their love affairs, but when Amity is a girl-of-action and actively search for mercy and witchcraft, Immanuelle is cursed - literally - by passivity and events occurs without her active consents, including the defection of the evil antagonist. Also, female friendship doesn't take place among the main themes and the book suffer a lot of the male love-interest help.
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett

No one speaks of the grace year. It’s forbidden.
In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.
Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life—a society that doesn’t pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it’s not just the brutal elements they must fear. It’s not even the poachers in the woods, men who are waiting for a chance to grab one of the girls in order to make a fortune on the black market. Their greatest threat may very well be each other.
With sharp prose and gritty realism, The Grace Year examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become, and the difficult decisions they make in-between.
Extasia by Claire Legrand

Her name is unimportant.
All you must know is that today she will become one of the four saints of Haven. The elders will mark her and place the red hood on her head. With her sisters, she will stand against the evil power that lives beneath the black mountain--an evil which has already killed nine of her village's men.
She will tell no one of the white-eyed beasts that follow her. Or the faceless gray women tall as houses. Or the girls she saw kissing in the elm grove.
Today she will be a saint of Haven. She will rid her family of her mother's shame at last and save her people from destruction. She is not afraid. Are you?
The Year Of The Witching by Alexis Henderson

In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet’s word is law, Immanuelle Moore’s very existence is blasphemy. Her mother’s union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches. Their spirits are still lurking there, and they bestow a gift on Immanuelle: the journal of her dead mother, who Immanuelle is shocked to learn once sought sanctuary in the wood. Fascinated by the secrets in the diary, Immanuelle finds herself struggling to understand how her mother could have consorted with the witches. But when she begins to learn grim truths about the Church and its history, she realizes the true threat to Bethel is its own darkness. And she starts to understand that if Bethel is to change, it must begin with her.

A story which I’ve been working on for a while now but haven’t done much for
“You don’t have to forgive me but please don’t forget me.”

Prologue
I can feel my world trembling again. This time it’s not the buildings collapsing like 20 years ago which took the peace amongst amongst all with it. This time it’s my heart, which with each shake of my body and shouting begins to shatter.
“Tell me!” Zha continues shaking my body.
“Tell me you didn’t. Deny it!”
Opening my eyes slowly I let out a heavy sigh. “You want me to lie to you? Weren’t you the one who held me an entire lecture about how bad lying is?”
“Why? Why did you do it?„ She screams directly in my face. I always wanted to see her other side.In which she’s holding in all her anger. I wanted her to drop her facade and let it all out. Now that I'm the cause for her outburst...I don't like it.
I betrayed her, I betrayed the woman I love.
"Lillia talk to me!„
I can't. Nothing is coming out. I just stare.
While staring at this woman right infront of me, thousands of memories replay in my head. With her.
I never deserved those happy moments. But fuck! This one time in my life I thought I did. It felt like my life isn't as fucked up as I thought.
I thought I'M not fucked up.
But once again the tables have turned.
"I-I'm sorry.„ Her grip around my shoulders tightens. "I betrayed you.„
"Why did you do it?„ She repeats. Her voice almost breaking this time.
"I'm sorry."
"Lillia-„ She’s being stopped by the door getting kicked opened. "There she is! Zha give her to us, we must get rid of her. She doesn't belong here.„
Ignoring the headquarters behind her, her eyes stay on mine.
"Please-„A gun shot. My eyes open wide, my heart beating as fast as ever. I'm not even worried about my own safety, only hers.
"Zha this is our last warning, give her to us or we must put violence towards you and her.„
"Zha listen to me baby. Whatever is gonna happen...don't forget me please, ok? Promise me.„
I crack a small smile at her.
"You don't have to forgive me but please don't forget me.„
"Ok, that's it! Zha back off!„ Looking behind her I see Cedric, the assistant of Fohrebachs king,Devian.Even him I betrayed. Cedric, the closest figure to a father in my life.
"It's ok. I need you to step aside. I don't want you to get hurt.„
"No. No! I don't want to!„ She got so stubborn.
I grab her face in both of my hands. "Please don't make it even harder. Remember it's all my fault. You should be mad at me. Take all this anger out on me, I deserve it. That way it would be much easier.„
"I-I can't.„
"Ok, that's it!" Cedric and his team got closer to us without hesitation. Ready to do anything just to take me down.
I gave Zha one last smile.
"I love you.„
With that I push her towards the men with all my strength.
Seeing them collapse, I take my chance and jump off the balcony.
Ready to leave everything behind.
With that the love of my life,
Zha.
