Babe, I know you don't like talking about the mystery surrounding your birth mother's identity or the fact that you can spontaneously summon snow, but we have to discuss your stalker, Sutekh the Destroyer. He's really throwing off my groove.
Doctor Who Cast, Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, choose between two iconic characters:
Captain Jack Harkness or Professor River Song? (x)
the finale is here, and i knew that hit song would become plot relevant
The last episode got me thinking a bit so don't read if you don't want any Spoilers, I've got some theories about Rogues identity
So... I think Rogue could be:
a timelord (maybe he's got a pocketwatch somewhere on his messy ship)
someone who travelled with Captain Jack for a while and got left by him/lost him somewhere. There's quite a few people who have already pointed out all the similarities between the two, I think they would have fit together quite well. He also has the devices to time travel so that might fit quite well.
Part of the pantheon perhaps? He might be unaware of it tho.
Someone related to Ruby, a brother, maybe her Dad or even a son.
A Torchwood member
Captain Jack from a parallel universe
Generally from a different universe -> maybe Roses one
The master with a pocket watch
Someone who's related to a former companion, maybe a classic who one
an associate of River Song in some way, colleague, old friend romantic? partner, relative
Just some thoughts I had, don't really have any proof for anything, feel free to add your own!
Brilliant Theory!!! All the background characters are brainwashed into thinking they are normal people like Wandavison!!!
THIS IS BRILLIANT!!! This needs to happen!!!
unpopular opinion time
I really really REALLY hope all the speculation about the Doctor Who finale is wrong
this whole like 'they are trapped in a TV show' theory crafting - it's super fun to speculate about!!
there's a number of compelling arguments and pieces of evidence one can point to which seems to support it
but it's just... boring IMO. it's boring textually and it's boring metatextually
say this is the 'twist at the end' or whatever
okay great they are in a TV show— WELL YEAH NO SHIT
of course Doctor Who is a TV show!! like obviously!!!
if it does end up being true... I'm just gonna be a bit disappointed that's all
/end rant

DOCTOR WHO | The Church on Ruby Road
My favorite ongoing saga
Wait so did Doctor who canonise the chaotic limiter from faction paradox with the butterfly compensation switch in the devil's chord?
Because if so that is fucking awesome and a great explanation for why the show flip flops on time travel rules.
google it
doctor whos new seasons been out less than an hour ago and i already made it my whole personality.
Who vs Why
Ruby kept focusing on 'who' and not 'why' in regard to her birth mother and it drove me wild.
Does the 'who' technically make sense for the overarching storyline? Yes! They clearly understood that this myth of Ruby's birth mother needed to up be built up both for the audience and for the characters.
BUT, that gets lost when they're constantly focused on who Ruby's birth mother was, especially towards the end. It's more interesting as to why she left her at the church on Christmas.
What was so special about Christmas? About that church? Why would a woman abandon a complete newborn?
If they had stuck specifically to why she was left that still would've played into the legend. Maybe Ruby kept making stories up when she was a child, that her birth mother had some secret mission and had to leave Ruby there or SOMETHING because that's what children do!
So to find out how normal her birth mother is, it's both confusion but also a slight relief because Ruby realizes that her birth mother was just a girl like her.
It makes that reveal with Louise at the end more impactful because let's be honest, they brushed over that so fast.
This also helps to align Ruby's story more with the Doctor. The Doctor wants to know why his parents left him on that planet. Yes, who is important, but why? Why there? Why then? That is so much more interesting and compelling.
Maybe the Doctor has started to make up stories in his own mind about who they are. They could've had such a wonderful scene where Ruby shares the little stories she's made up over the years.
Also, side note and I'm not going to get personal, but I do have other issues with the way Louise was presented as Ruby's "mother" and not "birth mother". I give RTD the benefit of the doubt as he did address that in commentary (though it wasn't the best response).
they truly are one of the prettiest doctor and companion duos like… omg 🥺💕
This episode was just... RTD cooked. No. He built the kitchen. Fr.
Millie Gibson (Ruby Sunday too), the woman you are...
Jonathan Groff is the moment.
Also, Ncuti keeps acting his ass OFF in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. I stan.
ok ok so i just watched dot and bubble and i LOVED it but i have one problem with it
(spoilers for it below)
so for good things: obviously the whole social media taking over peoples lives and rich people being so out of touch thing was really good, like the way shes so reliant on the bubble and uses it to hide when she realises what was happening is so good, and i am *not* the guy to be speaking about how the racism was portrayed bc im about as white as you can get, but i did like how the doctor got to be properly upset at the end bc he has been relatively happy for most of this season (so far).
and i loved the way colours were used, like how most things were all pastel, and clean, and neat (even the “goth” guy was very soft and clean) and then the slug things (idk if they have names) were all dark and muddy and slimy and just plain nasty, like that contrast was so cool
but the thing i really didn’t like was the dots being evil for not really a good reason, like they could have gone for so many different angles but just “ai goes evil bc humanity bad” is really weak imo. like i think they should have gone with they were created by the people who created finetime also creating them just to really hammer home the “social media consumes people and this is bad” message (or really anything other than what they went with)
