You glared up at the person in front of you, you had been taken from your family without a reason or explaintion. What we're you supposed to do? You stared in anger at the person who had you taken away.
"I believe you hav-"
"I don't own anything that belongs to you. My name isn't well known among people of high standards like you."
You heard grunts coming from behind you, almost feeling a sharp pointy object barely touching your head.
"Leave her alone."
You didn't have a reaction with anything that they threatened you with, you sat on the floor glaring upwards to the head, your poker face never changing to fear or respect.
The young head kept eye contact with you before looking down at your ring and looking back at you. Rotating his view between your eyes and your ring.
"Is it that alarming that someone with low standards has something this valuable?"
"It's wouldn't be alarming if that ring wasn't worth millions."
"We work in order to own these things. We work to have food and clothing, we do things ourselves and deserve nice things more then anyone. We are the poor who do everything for you to live."
Again you feel a sharp point which you were sure was a spear being pressed right up into your head, until again, with just one glare from their master, the spears were gone.
"You sure have a mouth."
"I don't want to be rude. Just let me go, I don't have anything that belongs to this kingdom."
"It's not that easy to prove innocence."
You bit your lip and looked down at your ring.
The last thing you had left from your childhood best friend… that ring.
To be fair, you knew where that ring came from, while walking with your friend late at night, he spotted something on the floor, the shine of the ring was satisfying, something you never saw before.
You went to turn it in, but the person told you that the ring didn't belong to anyone for a while, saying it was unvaluable and dirty. He said you could go home with it if you wanted

"But you found it, just clean it and it'll be really pretty."
"No, I want you to have it, it looks nice."
That ring was the most valuable thing in your possession, without it, your would have nothing.
The ring made you forget that awful memory. That nightmare…
Of your friends town being completely burned, with no living survivors.
Your best friend… Sugawara was gone…

"You either leave it and go back home, or stay and prove your innocence."
Your family… they needed you. Your parents were frail and couldn't make money on their own, how could you leave them until you proved you were innocent? How long would it take?
But you couldn't leave your ring behind…
"How can I prove it?"
"You'll prove to me that your a good citizen, would never commit the crime of theft, and would let us investigate that ring."
You looked at your hand, holding the valueable piece.
"If I'm found not guilty, will I get the ring back?"
The head looked at you for a moment before sighing.
"Yes, you'll get the ring back."
You got on your knees and bowed down, you looked up and he stared at you, he then looked over at his workers.
"Bring her to the guest room, let her rest for a bit."
You felt a hand grab your arm before you slapped the hand away, then walked you over to a room, it was quite nice to be a room given to you.
You looked over and saw a clock, 8:56, you knew it was late. Your family, everyone who was worried about you… how could you have just left them so carelessly, was a ring really more important to you then your own family?
How could you be so selfish…

you two take a lot of pictures to remember the moment
but it’s so hard to capture the butterflies on camera when they flutter and fly so fast
so your camera rolls are just filled with blurry front camera pictures and tons of pictures of the same plant
you notice after the date she made some of the photos her phone screensavers
a butterfly lands on her and she becomes so surprised, the look on her face is so precious! of course you feel the need to tell her that, too

the look on your face whenever he drops those lines can’t help but put a large smile on his face

the execution makes you laugh but intention quite literally makes your heart melt
there was one black butterfly with yellow stripes and noya points to it and to his hair like

when you’re looking for the butterfly you just read or heard about, he’ll try extra hard to find it for you without you knowing until he lovingly taps your shoulder to point it out to you on a nearby plant
“is that it, y/n?”
the look on your face was his answer
“aww, looks like it is, huh?”
he lives for how your face lights up every time

one person decides a cool looking butterfly is their favorite until the other points out another cool one a couple feet away
you bump into each other because you’re distracted by looking up at the butterflies flying around overhead
after that happens a few times, you decide to interlock hands to prevent bumping into each other
it doesn’t really fix anything because it still happens but you don’t let go anyway
when you two find out that a butterfly’s life cycle is only 3 weeks you get really sad together
or when you see butterflies with damaged wings, you’ll lean on him and he’ll wrap his arms around you and you two will just sulk for a second
that’s until you realize you’re falling behind on the trail then have to move on
he feels like he’s falling in love all over again from how much of a pleasant time you two are having

you two try to see who can count more butterflies in the house but you both end up losing count after like, eight
will rest his head on your shoulder while you two both stand and admire a nearby butterfly
if someone tries to interrupt you two, yamaguchi will just wave them off or silently shush them
no one can interrupt his baby’s butterfly time!
“did you say something, yams?”
“mm-mm, just continue looking at your butterfly, baby”
you see one with lots if dots on its wings and it reminds you of him
“yams it’s like your freckles!”

you both giggle at how cute the caterpillars look inching around behind their glass enclosure

but when you break away to look at a butterfly up close he lowkey gets jealous because suddenly his arm feels cold
so he’s constantly just trailing behind you as you go from butterfly to butterfly, looking forward to when you’re at his side again
you two don’t talk much, but the serene feeling you two share makes up for that
but whenever he speaks up, your heart can’t help but do backflips and cartwheels because your bOYFRIEND IS SO CUTE

“hehe, yeah! it’s like you and your milk cartons, kags!”
he finds you more enticing than the colorful butterflies in all honesty
yeah sure these butterflies are cool and all but his eyes are on YOU
if you look away from the butterfly you’re looking at to look at him, he immediately looks away but you can still see him blushing every. time.
asks seemingly dry questions like “is that your favorite?” or “isn’t this one so small?”
but you know they’re meaningful because the one he asked was your favorite he knew was your favorite color, and he knows you find small things cute and charming so he wanted to point out the small butterfly to you

at first teased you for your “childish” fascination but that all went away when he say the pure joy on your face once you two entered the butterfly house
also because you called him out for his fascination with dinosaurs but he doesn’t acknowledge that
annoyed by all the low-hanging plants because since he’s tall he has to duck so much
probably complains about how the greenhouse effect made it super hot
but that just means he’ll check up on you to make sure you’re not overheating or anything

thunderstorms have always been something you’ve adored. even when you were little, and most other kids in your class ducked under tables, trying to hide away from the loud crashes and rumbles, you always sat there, staring starry-eyed out the window of your classroom. to you, there’s no better feeling than grabbing a blanket and curling up near the window to revel in the beautiful display of nature, and every time you hear that familiar boom, you feel at home.
It was a saturday evening, and you sat in your living room mindlessly flitting through the channels on your tv, when you felt your phone vibrate. your reach into the pocket of your boyfriend’s oversized hoodie and smile upon checking the notification:
[koushi <3: just picked up dinner, be home in ten ;)]

just as you rise to go set the table, a weather alert pops up on the tv:
BREAKING NEWS: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM EXPECTED AROUND 7PM IN MIYAGI PREFECTURE, ALL CITIZENS ENCOURAGED TO SAY INSIDE
while most would see this as an inconvenience, that starry-eyed look returns to your face. completely forgetting about the table, you dash up to your bedroom and look out the window. a billow of cumulonimbus clouds has already started to form. you hastily open the closet door, searching for the warmest blanket you can find. pillows are thrown off of the bed and onto the floor near the bean-bag chair you oh-so-elegantly dragged near your window.
everything was set. pillows fluffed, blanket retrieved, and the rain had already started to fall. you plopped down on the bean-bag and curled up in the blanket. there was a childlike wonder about your face and you were so giddy you could barely sit still.
the rain was coming down hard now, and you began to feel a little worried. suga wasn’t home yet, and it had already been 15 minutes. but as soon as you heard that familiar rumble, you fell into your ceraunophilic trance once again, and all of your worries melted away.
just then, the sound of keys rattling filled the lower level of your house, as a very wet suga walked in.
“damn, it’s really coming down out there,” suga whispered to himself as he hastily made his way inside your home, observing his now soaked clothes.
“y/n i'm back, and i got your favorite!!” he shouted in a sing-songy voice.
his calls fell on deaf ears however, your focus was elsewhere, the storm capturing you in your little world.
“babe?” he questioned, worry piquing his voice, “i’m home, so come on down, the food is getting cold!!”
no response.
they probably just have their headphones on full blast again. he thought to himself.
koushi set the food down and discarded his shoes at the doorstep before heading to the upstairs bedroom. he expected to see you wildly dancing to whatever music filled your ears, but what he was met with an almost pitch black room- the only light coming from a small lantern next to the beanbag chair and the open window.
he knocked twice on the door, finally managing to break you from your trance.
“koushi!” you exclaimed, “you’re home!”
“yeah, i have been for like 5 minutes now dummy,” he chuckled.
“oh, sorry,” you laughed, a bit embarrassed, “but holy shit you’re soaked!”
“yeah it’s raining like crazy out there and i didn’t bring my umbrella, or raincoat today,”
“well hurry up and dry off honey, you’re gonna miss it,” you said, turning your attention back to the window again.
he cocked his head questioningly, “miss what?”
“just go,” you pushed. he put his hand up in surrender and compiled.
koushi began to undress, taking off his work shirt and placing it on a drying rack in the corner of your bedroom. you found yourself sneaking quick looks at him. his toned, slender frame never failing to captivate you. you tried to be discreet, but you were full on staring now, gawking at him like a kid in a candy store.
he moved to the drawers to find a t-shirt, but felt a pair of eyes boring into him. he turned his head a bit only to see you quickly shift your attention back to the window, trying to act like you weren't just ogling his abs just then.
“see something you like?” he smirked, “take a picture love, it’ll last longer.”
“just go dry off,” you said dismissively, trying to hide your embarrassment.
his honeyed laughter rang through your bedroom and he gathered the last of his clothes and went to the bathroom in search of a towel. you smiled to yourself, rolling your eyes as your attention turned back to the window.
a short time later, the smell of something absolutely delicious filled your nose. you quickly turned to see sugawara with an assortment of takeout boxes and utensils in his hands.
“i got your favorite,” he smiled, setting everything down in front of you.
thanking him, you begin practically tearing open the boxes taking some for yourself and passing some to koushi, excited to eat the meal with him.
as soon as you both were settled, he spoke up, “so, what’d you say i was going to miss?”
BOOM
immediately after he spoke, the loudest thunderclap you had ever heard roared in both of your ears and a bold streak of lighting lit up the whole neighborhood.
you and koushi, shocked looks plastered on your faces, turned to each other.
“that.” you remarked.
you both laughed at that little comment and the silly looks on each other’s faces, and settled back down in the beanbag chair to eat your meal.
thunder continued to roar outside. droplets of rain collected on the glass of your bedroom window, sliding off of it in haphazard streaks. lightning strikes every now and then, illuminating the world for a brief moment. you watched the extravagant display with pure awe in your eyes, unable to peel away from it.
but koushi... he spent his time staring at you, his eyes fixed on your exhilarated expression. he watched as the shadows of the raindrops cast on your face, he gazed at your smile, that seemed impossibly big, impossibly bright. and when the lighting struck, illuminating your features for that brief moment, you looked so… beautiful. so impossibly ethereal. like mother nature herself shone a spotlight directly on your face. he swore he had never seen something so beautiful in his life.
you tried your best to pay full attention to the storm, but the gaze boring into you was a bit distracting.
a smirk quirked on your lips as you faced him, leaning in so that you faces were millimeters apart,
“take a picture love, it’ll last longer.”
now it was his turn to turn away, flustered.
you giggled at his embarrassment relishing in the pink tint that now decorated his face.
“i hate you,” he joked, joining you in your laughing fit.
“no you don’t,” you countered, playfully swatting his shoulder.
there was a moment of air before you felt koushi’s delicate fingers caress your chin, gently tilting your face up towards his.
“you’re right, i don’t,” he whispered, bringing you even closer, “in fact- you’re the very thing i love most in this world.”
koushi’s lips brushed against yours for a moment and you looked up into his eyes. there was nothing but pure adoration gazing back at you. he meant every word- he does love you, and the kiss you then shared proved it. there was so much passion and tenderness behind the moment your lips locked. so much devotion and warmth, neither of you could help but melt into it, wanting to further lose yourselves in each other’s embrace.
however, the lack of oxygen made itself apparent and you had to pull away from each other, breathless and giddy.
koushi breathily chuckled as you reached out and held his face, brushing the mole that adorned his left cheek. giving him the same adoring gaze he flashed you not moments ago.
so cute, he thought to himself kissing your palm in return.
koushi’s arm found purchase around your waist pulling you into his chest. his heart jumped against your ears, the pace of his heartbeat slowing to match yours; your heartstrings strumming a melody only you two would ever hear. and you spent the rest of the night like this, bathing in each others’ warmth until your eyelids went heavy and you were both lulled to sleep by the sound of the roaring thunder.

you hadn't seen sugawara in a few days now
he usually had morning practice and you had afternoon classes, which meant your schedules clashed, making it near impossible for the two of you to see each other often
but tomorrow was saturday, which meant the both of you were free, which meant suga was spending the night at your place
he had actually been invited to a party by tooru oikawa, but he only laughed and responded with:
"sorry, i'm spending the night at y/n's, i haven't seen them in a while and i'm pretty sure they're not really in the mood to spend his free night with a bunch of sweaty, drunk, teenagers"
so yeah, here you were, 9pm, sitting on your couch with sugawara, his arm draped loosely around your shoulder as the both of you finally got to catching up
it was honestly mostly you doing the talking, suga simply listening to you with a light smile and adoration in his eyes
"oh god. i started rambling, didn't i?"
he only laughed and hugged you to his chest
"it's cute."
soon after that the food you had ordered 40 minutes prior finally arrived, the two of you settling in a comfortable silence as you ate, the only sound being the movie playing on the tv, to which you only half payed attention to
that was kind of how you spent your entire evening, cuddling on the couch and talking, occasionally taking a break, looking at the tv, to not miss the movie completely
at about 1am you decided it'd be a good time to go to bed, sugawara claiming he was very tired, when in fact he had seen you dozing off during the movie, and knowing you haven't been getting a lot of sleep because you were mainly focused on your studies and because of your constant sleep issues, he wanted you to get as much sleep as possible as-long as you had the possibility too
when you two got into bed, you immediately scooted closer to sugawara, his arms finding their place around you, a habit that became second nature.
his fingertips ran slightly along your back, goosebumps rising on your skin under the t-shirt you wore to sleep, melting into his touch, feeling the exhaustion of the week catch up to you by now
suga had obviously noticed this, letting himself indulge in the sight of your sleepy face squished against him, moving the hand that was not running up and down your back to move some stray strands of hair that fell into your eyes
you looked up at him, eyes only half-open, humming
"why are you looking at me like that?"
"no particular reason. i just like admiring my partner."
your face flushed a little at that, letting out a light laugh and shaking your head
"didn't you say you were tired?" you spoke again, stifling a yawn
he hummed, leaning to the bedside table to turn off the salt lamp that was stood there, laying back down comfortably
he was laid facing you, arms wrapped around you in a comfortable hug, the perfect amount of weight settled on you, which made you feel grounded
it didn't take long for you to fall asleep, sugawara laying there, enjoying the warmth of your body a bit more before also falling asleep
except, sadly, sleep didn't come that easily for you, so, eventhough you managed to fall asleep quickly, you also awoke again, just two hours later
you shifted, moving your eyes so you could look at the digital clock stood on the bedside table next to your salt lamp
3:24am
you let out a soft sigh, moving to get into a more comfortable position, not expecting your partner to wake up so easily
when suga realised what was going on, he spoke
"are you having trouble sleeping again?"
you looked at him, humming
"a little. but don't worry, i think i'll be able to fall asleep again soon"
sugawara sighed and soon the warmth of his body abandoned yours, leaving you quite cold and longing for it back
"stay right here"
you did as you were told, curious to know what he was doing, yet too lazy to stand up and go see
luckily it didn't take him long to get back, two cups of tea in both hands, handing you one of them
"its chamomile tea. it helps with sleep. i brought some melatonin gummies too, please have some, they do wonders"
he spoke, slowly taking a sip as to not burn his tongue in case it was still too hot
"you didn't have to do this, you know?"
you said that, but your heart was warm with the adoration you felt for suga
"i know, but i wanted to" he sent you a cute smile, which you reciprocated
after you drank your tea you ate two of the melatonin gummies, dropping back down to lay down properly
suga then laid beside you, pulling you to him by your waist
"Now let's try and get some proper rest, love. If you can't fall asleep or wake up again, wake me up, okay?"
you just hummed, closing your eyes, at this point too tired to respond and too comfortable to move even an inch too speak
it's safe to say the both of you slept in the next day
