Multiflora roses are a very interesting type of flower. Their opaque color stands out from the leaves that they grow in. They're decorated with thorny stems and a yellow pistil. These flora at first glance, look like a very simple flower with no depth at all. Without looking closer, you would never know the number of layers and colors that lie underneath them.

Currently, you found yourself in a predicament. you were running from a hoard of fatui skirmishers. Your stamina was depleting and you didn't have your catalyst on your person. You were quite the weak link in your party. Not able to pursue hand-to-hand combat and relying on your weapon for all your strength rendering you useless without it.

"She's slowing down!" You heard the group of fatui's laughter fill your ears. your heart dropped into your stomach. terrified, you tripped and fell to the ground.

You were starting to panic, your brain was running through any options to get out of this situation. Without a thought in your mind, you hesitantly yelled your dear friend's name.

"X-Xiao!"

Suddenly a turquoise gust of wind swirled around you and the familiar Adeptus appeared in front of you with an irritated expression adorning his face. He turned around to face the group of fatui skirmishers.

"Picking on someone far weaker than you is absolutely distasteful. Mortals like you should be eradicated from Liyue."  Xiao summoned his weapon and swiftly disposed of the enemies that dared to lay hand on you.

"Always getting into these situations. What am I going to do with you, mortal?" Your face flushed with embarrassment, feeling like a burden to the Adeptus. You've known him for a couple of months now, you didn't want to feel useless to him. He was a very important person in your life. You cared for him deeply and you were easily flustered by him.

Xiao could literally take a bite of his favorite almond tofu dish and still look ethereal while doing it. His messy haircut made him all the more attractive. The Adeptus had deep golden eyes that always captivated you. Often, he had caught you ogling at him during your meetings.

"I'm sorry.." You tilted your head down feeling like a complete idiot. You clenched your fists angry at yourself.

A sigh filled your ears and you felt yourself being picked up from off the ground.

"Xiao?!" Your heart picked up in speed for the second time today. Overtime you had developed a love for your friend. You adored and looked up to him.

"What?" an irk mark decorated Xiao's forehead. Being this close to his face, you were reminded of his certain scent. He smelt similar to nature and a sweet breeze wind.

"ah n-nothing"

A turquoise mixed with black aura swirled around you and Xiao. Before you could even blink, you appeared in Wangshu inn's infirmary. A sigh left your lips. You'll never get used to this form of travel for as long as you're with him.

You were set down on a chair and you watched as Xiao searched through drawers. He pulled out a box of bandaids and some rubbing alcohol. You quickly put your attention on the oh-so-interesting wall when he made eye contact with you.

You felt his hands softly hold your calf. He had poured rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and was treating your leg wound. The pain from the rubbing alcohol was seen on your face as you squeezed your eyes shut. This doesn't go unnoticed by Xiao as he quickly placed his lips upon the wound, initially giving your leg a kiss.

Your face flushed when you saw this action. You were reduced to a babbling mess.

"Wh-what are you doing?" The Adeptus ignored you and continued on with treating your wound.  He grabbed a bandaid from the box and pulled the plastic off the adhesive with his teeth. Softly, he put the bandaid on your wound and bringing his eyes up to meet yours.

"Are you alright?" Still winded from the affection beforehand you nodded your head viciously. You were like putty in his hands.

You never expected these actions from Xiao. He was usually reserved and not use to physical contact. You were happy to have peeled back a layer to his personality. You were excited to find out more about him.

Xiao softly smiled. Currently, he seemed so vulnerable. It was like seeing a new side to him.

"That's good. Be careful. Don't go getting yourself in these situations. I worry for your health, love."

Similar to your favorite flower, Xiao at first interaction had a very stand-offish personality, but slowly you'll come to know the quiet, soft, and affectionate Adeptus that stood before you.

Xiao, the heroic, youthful, or demonic, looking man on top of Wangshuu Inn?

One would say he doesn't do much at all, other than sit there and bask in the elements around - not caring whether it's raining, snowing or if it's a blazing sun outside

Xiao cares very little as for what the ordinary, mortal lives think of him. As long as he's fulfilling his duty, protecting them - he is satisfied, and needs no other opinion. He's been doing this for over 3000 years, he knows what he's doing.

Some days are more peaceful than others, and he does laze around, enjoying the warm southern breeze that carries that specific smell that remind him of times long gone

Xiao is able to both reminisce about the long and recent past while standing guard, in his own peculiar way.

The look in his eyes grows duller, softer like silted waters, but he's not losing himself in those murky waters. Some of those memories would be downright terrifying to someone else, as they hail from a time darker than even the Archon War.

When on duty he is as meticulous as anyone would expect, and just as cool and distant when interacting with others, should he really have a need for it

Yet, every now and then he does run into more... domestic things that he couldn't have predicted or escaped. Like aiding a half blind eldery to collect the bamboo shoots, being mistaken for their grandchild due to his height, or helping a child find a way home or get their toy back. These are all people of Liyue, or they just happened to be on those grounds. Xiao is a sworn spear of protection to them.

For his close ones, the ones that are still alive, he makes sure to check in every once in a while, or at least send some things their way so they know they're on his mind

He's not the one to write letters, and has a penchant for a sort of "acts of service" type of show, so if he really must send some paper, he makes a talisman to make up for the lack of words on the paper. Or anything of that sort, even infusing a little bit of his power into the pieces so that it would last longer

If you're someone he truly does care about, or you simply don't want to leave him to rot in his solitude, the act of visiting the old graves and tombs of old comrades and friends with you warms his heart in a comforting way that's still unfamiliar to Xiao

He enjoys listening to you talk about the people he seldom has time or the will to interact with, even if he finds some of their interests weird or pointless, he likes to hear all the variety of personalities and jobs. So much has changed over the years, and so much has also stayed the same. He likes to hear how the Harbor has grown, inside and outside.

During Lantern Rites, he would hope you'd join him, he even goes through the "tedious task" of acquiring a Xiao lantern that the two of you can set into the sky when the time comes. You would do so from one of the mountain tops surrounding Liyue, and both of you can watch the your lone light join the other dozen ones

It's a magical moment to him, no matter how keen he is on rejecting that claim later on. In that moment he's not the Vigilant Yaksha ridden with Karma, he's not general Alatus, he's not a bird with a broken wing nor is he some random immortal soldier. He's just.. Xiao.

After this meeting he decides he was right in his first feeling. You were incredibely friendly and didn't pressure him into talking, something that he'd appreciate a lot

At the end of the meetup, he tells you the same thing he does to everyone he cares about, to call him when you're in trouble (secretly hoping you'll never have to make use of it)

After this, you come to Wangshu Inn more often, intrigued by the man you met

You have times where you meet up, whenever he's not busy fighting the remains of ancient evil

It took him some time to tell you what it really was that he's doing, it was after a really bad episode of his karmic debt almost consuming him

He thought you would be disgusted by what he's doing, especially when he told you that multiple mortals have died while witnessing him fighting demons (he wanted to be as open with you as possible). He was wrong.

After getting to know of his love for the food, you made sure to either prepare or buy some almond tofu for him, without a special occasion

And that was when he knew he would never want to lose you, even though a little voice in the back of his head knew that one day, he would

CONFESSION:

He'd be divided between confessing as fast as possible and not at all

On the one hand, he wanted to have as much time with you as possible, so he'd rather confess sooner than later

On the other hand, he doubted you would like him back and he didn't want to lose you already and never talk to you

Both of you weren't thinking rationally, you because you thought he didn't trust you and Xiao because he didn't want you to die, knowing it has happened before if there was a mortal nearby as he vanquished an old spirit

You'd been waiting for what had to have been a full month for Heizou to come back from vacati- his private investigation. And the second you'd heard the rumors that he'd been found and was returning. You knew you had to snag him up before you didn't see him again for another couple months.

"Look at this beautiful view." He cycled on as you rested your face in your palms. "I took this picture the moment I set foot on the island. It truly is a sight to behold. This picture doesn't quite do it justice either because during the night time when the water is bathed with glowing moonlight.. ugh it's quite majestic."

"Hei, you've got a little something on your cheek." You tap your own face with the palm of your index finger.

"Oh." He slides a hand across his face, eyebrows creasing as he looks at his fingers.

"No, right-"

You shift your face to the side, brushing long red strands aside quickly taken aback when your lips are snagged. Pressed against his so suddenly that you nearly snap your head back. But he doesn't allow it, keeping you close with a hand on your cheek. His kiss so firm yet gentle. Before you can even get used to his taste however he's leaving you high and dry.

"There?" He finishes

"Wha-" You ask or well try to as he continues to hold your face. His breath fanning the bridge of your nose as he chuckles.

"I believe your next question is, how long have you known?" He remarks "The definitive answer would be: I've always known. I notice your little lip bites when I make corny jokes. I've noticed the way you absolutely must rub your knee against mine whenever we're sitting close, just as we are now. And I've seen the way your eyes flicker to my lips when you think I'm not watching. I assumed you'd just come out and tell me you like me. I mean I have been waiting for so long, my heart was starting to break." His chuckle is far deeper this time. Far more teasing than the first.

"You're such an annoying little tease." You hiss, shakily entangling his shirt in your grip.

"Come now, you must find some enjoyment from it." He pecks your lips. "Otherwise you wouldn't be clinging to me like this."

Aether

The two of you had finally made plans for the first time since he'd left Inazuma. While you'd always felt like the two of you had a not dating but acts as though you are, kind of relationship today you wanted to take it a step further. Before you'd met up he'd shooed Paimon off to the teapot and prepared a basket of food fit for a banquet. He wanted you to try all his new favorites after all.

"Ae, I think you've got something on your cheek."

He blinks in between bites before leaning closer to your hand. Your thumb slides beneath strands of silky blonde hair brushing them aside before pecking his cheek with a quick kiss. His eyes dart towards yours and without warning he pulls a tissue from the basket bringing it up to his cheek with a quick swipe.

"The wind wiped away your kiss, you have to do it again."

"Why can't you just ask for another kiss like a normal person."

"Lips this time please." He retorts puckering up.

Xiao

Not seeing Xiao for a couple weeks was pretty normal usually but you found yourself missing him these past few days. Which soon lead you to the Wangshu Inn kitchen to prepare a bowl of almond tofu for his return. Once you'd finished and tidied up the space you'd used, you headed back to the balcony. The view swept you away for a moment, quickly entranced by the way the landscape could stretch for miles. Almost so taken in that Xiao's entrance nearly caused you to tip over the bowl in your hands.

"You're here." He greeted simply taking the bowl from your grasp.

"Mhm, How was your patrol?"

He simply huffed heading downstairs to grab a spoon. No surprise there, Xiao never had been ready to conversate after a long patrol.

"Oh hey Xiao, what's that on your cheek?"

You could feel the roll of his eyes despite his back being to you. "I've told you not to dote on me." He stops at the bottom of the staircase, halfway facing you.

"Well you should want to get cleaned up right?" You reply curling a handful of strands around his ear.

"I can do that on my own. Just leave I-" A sound you'd never believed Xiao could make escaped the adeptus in front of you. His face soon hung, the bowl of tofu hanging between shaky fingers. You giggle as you watch his cheeks flush with red, briskly rushing to the tips of his ears.

"Xiao.." You mummer close to his ear unsurprised by the faintest shiver being his only reply. "Thank you for all you do for Liyue." You whisper, without another word you head back upstairs to allow Xiao the space and comfort to eat in peace.

Kazuha

When Kazuha came back to Inazuma he always made sure to spend at least a week at your place. A time in which you'd found that Kazuha took up very little space, he'd always kept his area neat and if he was gone the whole day he'd make sure he'd bring you back some goodies.

This time had been no exception: It was only twelve am when he'd arrived home but he quickly insisted that he whip up a, "thank you for letting him stay" dish. You sat a ways away allowing yourself to become swept up by the intoxicating aroma wafting into the living room.

"It should be ready soon, Name."

Suddenly an idea floated into your head. You stood from your seat softly inching up behind Kazuha. Though it soon proved to be worthless as Kazuha's eyes quickly drifted behind him. A small smile brightening his features.

"Oh, have you come to sneak a taste?"

"Actually, you've got a little-" You smooth his hair back and before you can hesitate further you give his cheek a quick peck leaning back to anxiously take in his expression.

"Hm so that's why you've been so distracted tonight?" He places the spoon in the pan before removing it from the fire. He slowly turns back to you deep crimson eyes filled with adoration. "Is it ok if I kiss you too?" He asks

"Sure.." You're not sure how loud you said it but you soon find Kazuha's lips pressed to yours. The only description you could come up with to describe the way his lips felt against yours being airy, light almost feather-like. As though he had some internal fear he could break you with a single touch.

Before long he's leaning away and you can't help your childish huff. "Don't worry, we can continue once you have dinner." He smiles softly.

"I eat all the time. Kiss me."

Tighnari

Today was kind of special. Tighnari wasn't busy with the usual training of forest rangers and he'd finished his patrol early which meant the two of you had time to take a leisurely stroll. Which for Tighnari meant he could point out random flora and facts about them as you walked. While for you it just meant you could bask in his every word while barely keeping pace because he walks surprisingly fast.

"Are you still listening? I was on a roll there and you missed it."

You trot along till you catch up to his side. "Sorry Nari, hasn't anyone ever told you, you walk super fast?"

"No, I don't believe I've heard that until now actually." He retorts with a small lift of his chin.

"Well anyway for your information I actually was listening. You were explaining the temperatures at which Sumeru roses grow the best in." You reply

"Exactly, excellent!" He perks up, smile broadening "I don't think I'll ever understand why you didn't come with me after we graduated. I don't really need to explain this stuff to you the way I would a rookie forest ranger. Plus you're so skilled with medicinal remedies you'd be such a big help to me and Colliel."

"The akademiya begs for you to come back and you try to talk me into becoming a forest ranger someday. Somethings never change."

His chuckle is dry and you soon realize just how close you're standing. Your elbow resting on his shoulder. The tips of his ear twitching as your breath flutters against them.

"Hey Nari, what's on your cheek?" A small hum leaves his throat as he checks his left cheek with two fingers.

"Huh, did I get it?"

"No I mean this cheek." You whisper, his hair is silkier than you'd thought it would be and when you press a kiss to his cheek you make a mental note of his deep shudder. "There it's off now." You giggle immediately pleased at how quickly his entire face blooms pink.

꒦꒷ Xiao would treat you how he treated the traveler for the first time. He would be distant and would be a quick conversation and then he would leave.

꒦꒷ but after you coming over and over and over, also bring almond tofu, he slowly got used to you. He would still take a while to get used to you.

꒦꒷ after a while he would slowly talk to you more and slowly watch you from afar if you got on commission and things like that. He just doesn't want you to get hurt. But once you went home and finished everything he then would go back to the inn and sits on the balcony.

꒦꒷ he would slowly get more protect of you, not in a bad way just a way that he doesn't want you to get hurt. If you do he will come over and help you. Telling you that he was just walking around and saw that you need help. He then would patch you up.

꒦꒷ when he would finally confess to you he would most likely make you something that had a note on it. He would be near by to watch you and your reaction. He would be too nervous to tell you in person.

꒦꒷ when you came back to him to give your answer. He was so nervous. His palms where sweating. He wanted to teleport away but he knew he couldn't do that to you. So he just stayed there and waited there. His muscles were all tense and everything.

heading up to the balcony, you looked around for the adeptus. there was no sign of him anywhere, which confused you. usually he would come right up to greet you

turning around, about to head back downstairs, you halted hearing a cry. the cry sounded like a baby or a small toddler. parental instincts kicking in, you searched for the source of the sound

almost dropping the dish of almond tofu in surprise, in front of you was a very small yaksha, who you recognised as xiao

looking around, you picked him up. he only babbled in response, his small hands reaching for your face. you melted on the spot at the sight of him, he was so cute!

you had to find someone who knew xiao well from a young age, somehow managing to find zhongli

telling him what happened, he nodded his head in understanding. zhongli then explained how sometimes when xiao gets very overwhelmed or stressed out, he will revert back into an infant. it eventually wears off, but it’s unknown when that’ll happen

don’t worry, you won’t be alone looking after the now infantized yaksha, zhongli will also help when he can. he’ll also spend a ton of his childe’s money on a pretty massive morax plushie, which xiao seemed to be attached to the hip to

miraculously, a few weeks later, xiao turned back into his normal self. unfortunately it happened whilst zhongli was feeding him with him in his lap

xiao apologises profusely when that happened, zhongli obviously didn’t care, he’s been through worse after all

you now have your boyfriend back to normal. try not to tease him too much or remind him of certain stories zhongli told you about xiao when he used to actually be younger. if you do end up teasing him too much, he will either dissapear in a puff of smoke, or he will be burning up in the face, and will hide his face in the crook of your neck

xiao had no intention of eavesdropping on your conversation with verr, but he heard you mention his name out of nowhere and that had caught his interest. what were you two discussing? he thought, why was he involved? then hid near the stairs of the second floor and listened to your exchange despite its unethicality

“is he your first love?” verr quipped, as she leaned in to heed what you had to say, “i apologize if i come across a bit intrusive. i’m just genuinely curious about your relationship with xiao.”

pink dusted your cheeks, as you furiously waved off the woman and reassured, “no, no. it’s okay. i-i don’t mind. and, er, no… he isn’t. my first love was, um, unrequited.”

“may i ask who?” she asked, evidently invested in what you were about to say next. there was nothing else to say, your answer left both verr and xiao gaped and feeling nonplussed. “the consultant of the wangsheng funeral parlor? hm, i can’t fault you there. he is quite the looker.”

this was a huge deal-breaker for him. up until now, xiao had no idea you held any romantic feelings for the geo archon in the past. i mean, you didn’t show any indication that you even did! but more importantly, why did you hide this from him? xiao knew that the only way he could get the answers to his questions was through confronting you—which, he had no issue of doing after you returned to his room

“you never really asked,” you trivially reasoned, trying to lighten up the mood. he only narrowed his eyes at you. you sighed, “fine. i didn’t want to make a big fuss over this, okay?” as you rubbed your arm to distract yourself from the tense atmosphere, “i was afraid that if you knew you, it would cause a rift in our relationship.”

“and withholding it from me was the better option?”

you cringed at the slight hostility in his voice. you knew that he didn’t mean it, but it still hurt to hear how distressed he was underneath his rather spiteful front. “that was an oversight on my end. i hope this doesn’t upset you any more than it already does. if it helps, what i feel for you is much different… it’s stronger than what i had initially felt for zhongli.”

Beidou: Since Beidou wears an eyepatch, a lot of people have made theories on what's behind it. Is it just a regular eye? Does she have a terrible scar underneath? Is it due to a battle? Who did she fight? Spoiler alert: It's the first one, but she always gets a laugh out of the really crazy ones

Chongyun: Chongyun is secretly really good at checkers. He takes pride in it along with embarrassment since he has no clue how to play chess

Ganyu: Ganyu absolutely loves the quiet and hates loud noises, but there's this one sound that she will forever despise, and that is windchimes. Every time she hears them, she just wants to rip it off of the ceiling and break all the metal bars in half. Of course, she never does, but she'll immediately leave if she hears it. Heaven forbid someone gets her a windchime as a present

Hu tao: Being a director of a funeral parlor and talking with ghosts for a long time somewhat impacts your vision on mortals, so Hu tao has grown a sixth sense of reading people. She can tell whether they're lying, worried, or pretending to be fine whenever they are fuming with anger. Sometimes, it gets a bit bad that she misses out on social cues

Keqing: With the large amount of paperwork Keqing puts on herself, she offen gets hands cramps. Sometimes, they get so bad that she has to take a break for a few minutes so the bones of her hands don't feel like they're about to break apart

Ningguang: Since Ningguang is the richest person in Tevyat, she occasionally spends her mora on random items just for the fun of it. Her favorite items she's bought over the recent years are candles. She's grown so attached to it that she's started up a collection

Qiqi: Since Qiqi needs a notebook to remember everyone she's met, Yaoyao decided one day that she would help Qiqi with the notebook, decorating it in cute stickers, highlighters, doodles, and occasional photographs

Shenhe: Shenhe has dissociative amnesia, specifically generalized. This means that she offen forgets where she went, what she did, who she spoke to, what she experienced, or even who she is
