Take me in your arms (Miss Heroin)

By: unknown

So now, little man, you've grown tired of grass

LSD, goofballs, cocaine and hash,

And someone, pretending to be a true friend,

said, "I'll introduce you to Miss Heroin".

Well honey, before you start fooling with me,

Just let me inform you of how it will be.

For I will seduce you and make you my slave,

I've sent men much stronger than you to their graves,

You think you could never become a disgrace,

And end up addicted to poppy seed waste.

So you'll start inhaling me one afternoon,

you'll take me to your arms very soon.

And once I've entered deep down in your veins,

The craving will nearly drive you insane.

You'll swidle your mother, just for a buck

You'll turn into something vile and corrupt,

You'll mug and you'll steal for my narcotic charm

And feel contentment when I'm in your arms.

The day you'll realize the monster you've grown,

You'll solemly swear to live me alone.

If you think you've got that mystical knack,

Then sweetie, just try getting me off your back.

The vomit, the cramps, your gut tied in knots,

The jangling nerves screaming for one more shot,

The hot chills and cold sweats and withdrawl pains,

That can only be saved by my white little grains.

There is no other way, and there is no need to look,

For deep down inside, you know you are hooked.

You'll despretly run to the pushers and then,

You'll welcome me back to your arms once again.

And you will return, just as I foretold!

I know that you'll give me your body and soul.

You'll give up your morals, your conscience, your heart,

And you will be mine 'till death do us part.

Game Board

What did they expect to happen? They bent the rules and now everyone who played fairly has to pay. Ashley was pissed. She played the game six years ago. She won fairly and continued to play by the rules. But these two. They got chosen, and they decided they don’t want to play like every else, and they both got out. Don't get her wrong, she is glad that they did. But she can't help but imagine if she and her brother tried harder. Could they both have gotten out alive? Her twin brother, Nate died six years ago. His death haunts her every time her eyes close. The feeling of his hands slipping out of her hands and towards the mutts. They were the final two and neither imagined it would be down to them. But neither could kill one another, but someone had to die, it was the rules. As they both look at each other and realize it the second the cannon booms of the final tribute they fought. Nate, being faster pushed her down and raced towards the cliff. Ashley was fast to get up and race after him. As he threw his body over the cliff, Ashley grabbed his hand. She begged him to stay and let her die. But he couldn't, and she counited to beg. But he had an ace up his sleeve. He grabbed the knife as his belt and stabbed her hand holding him. She let go. As he fell the deafening scream through the arena was heard, but also felt through the screens of the citizens watching. Tears appeared in those who despised the games and wished they weren’t forced to watch. Those who watched gasped at the excitement, in anticipation of the finally. The one who orchestrated these sick rules perked up in anticipation at the new person he had to control. When the final cannon boomed, Ashley couldn't hear it. The people who made the games made the mutts die, as she also flung herself over the cliff. It was then Ashley remembered the rules, someone had to stay alive, and her brother made the makers choose her as the final survivor. The one to remember the horrors that happened inside the dome. Before these two won, she always tried to imagine it was her, or what she could have done, so the lone victor was her brother and not herself. But now since these two won, she wonders what would have happened if they both flung themselves together. She couldn't ponder long, as the news of the special game rules were announced. It looks like she was going back to the play field. To play the game again, to try and be the lone survivor.

What we can take from dreams

When I dream I can sometimes change something into something else, merely because I wish it. I can make a moose, a deer, or a plane out of thin air. If only I close my eyes and wish harder. The monsters don’t always leave but when they come a clawing. I reach out my hands and believe that though I hadn’t ever before, I can use the wind as my weapon and bash it straight into the floor. When I open my eyes it has happen, because I expected nothing else. I believed in my power so fully, that failing just wouldn’t make sense. And each time the monsters grew stronger and bigger than mammoths or whales, I just squeezed shut my eyes and let my belief grow in size, until it burst out and became something real. The enemies don’t shrink, but each time I fall, I just think. I’ll believe it until it is done. If it don’t work at first, I just clench my fists and believe harder, until I am commanding that very thing into existence.

Alarm Clock  (Prompt)

I’m pulled back to life by the ringing in my ears.

And I’m up and readying for work.

That’s it, it’s done.

It should be over.

Then why do I still hear its ring?

Following me through the halls of the store,

distant and muted, but there.

It’s constantly sounding a warning of threat,

but when I look around, my eyes go unmet.

There’s nothing to fear, I keep saying.

Like a mantra looping in my thoughts.

It doesn’t stop my heart from jumping,

each time someone speaks from my back.

I end up more tired than I started,

eyes glazed on my ride home from work.

Yet when I rest on my warm comfy pillow,

my muscles refuse to relax.

It’s when I start tossing and turning,

that I realize the effort’s a waste.

Sleep will continue to elude me,

so instead I’ll resume the chase.

I’ll escape to a world not my own,

where I know the pain isn’t real.

Where I focus on demons of fiction,

instead of the ones that are real.

Yes, they will wait for me when skies darken,

there when I cannot run.

But at least for now I’m protected.

At least for now I have won.
