The sun was setting over the Faerie Court, casting a warm golden glow over the lush gardens. You walked hand-in-hand with Cardan, the faerie prince whose mischievous grin had stolen your heart. The air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the distant sound of laughter from the revelry taking place in the heart of the court.

Cardan led you to a secluded part of the garden, where a beautiful tree with silver leaves stood, its branches swaying gently in the evening breeze. He had a mysterious twinkle in his eyes, the kind that always made you wonder what he was up to.

"I have a surprise for you," he said, his voice soft and filled with affection.

You raised an eyebrow, smiling. "A surprise? Should I be worried?"

He chuckled, shaking his head. "Not this time. Close your eyes."

Trusting him, you closed your eyes and felt him guide you forward a few steps. You could hear the rustle of leaves and the soft chirping of night creatures beginning to awaken. After a moment, he stopped and gently turned you to face him.

"Open your eyes," he whispered.

You opened your eyes and gasped. Before you was a small, enchanting picnic setup under the silver-leaved tree. Soft blankets were spread out on the grass, adorned with an array of your favorite foods and delicate faerie lights that glowed softly, casting a magical light over everything.

"Cardan, this is beautiful," you said, turning to look at him with awe.

He smiled, a rare, genuine smile that made your heart skip a beat. "I thought we could use a quiet evening together, away from the chaos of the court. Just you and me."

You sat down on the blankets, and Cardan joined you, his hand never leaving yours. The two of you spent the evening talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. He fed you pieces of exotic fruit and told you stories of his childhood, some funny, some sad, but all of them made you feel closer to him.

At one point, you leaned back against the tree, Cardan’s head resting in your lap. You played with his dark hair, your fingers tracing gentle patterns on his scalp. His eyes were closed, a content smile playing on his lips.

"You know," you said softly, "I never imagined I would find such peace in a place like this."

He opened his eyes and looked up at you, his gaze tender. "And I never imagined I would find someone who could make me feel so... loved."

Your heart swelled with emotion, and you bent down to place a gentle kiss on his forehead. "You deserve all the love in the world, Cardan."

He reached up and cupped your cheek, his thumb brushing your skin softly. "As long as it's your love, I need nothing else."

You leaned into his touch, feeling a warmth spread through you that had nothing to do with the faerie lights or the setting sun. In that moment, everything was perfect, and you knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, you would face them together, side by side.

As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, you and Cardan lay together under the silver-leaved tree, wrapped in each other’s arms. The world outside could wait; for now, you had everything you needed right here.

Bad Idea Right

Y/N had wanted to be a knight her whole life but when she joins the Court of Shadows with her friend Jude some things happen between her friends and Prince Cardan.

Also she is a mortal.

After training at the Court of Shadows, sparring with Jude and the Ghost I was so tired. I had to hide the bruises to not show anyone where I was last night.

By the time I arrive at my dwelling it is almost sunrise. I must get ready for school and deal with Cardan. I would show off my skills at him to scare him off but I can’t.

I arrive a Madoc’s Estate so Jude and Taryn can walk with me to school. “Waiting on someone” a voice calls out. It’s Cardan, of course it is. “And what are you doing here” I say.

“Oh nothing just walking around before heading to school and bullying you”. I roll my eyes. Jude and Taryn walk out and see Cardan and ignore the fact that he’s there and they walk to school unbothered.

Y/N sits next to Jude, Taryn, and the Ghost during Professor Kanes lecture about astronomy. Y/N was tired after last night and yawned. After she yawned she can tell someone was staring at her. She looked around and saw Cardan glaring at her and had yawned.

Had he been watching her this whole time, Y/N had thought.

Y/N didn’t give it much thought right after and looked forward.

After school Cardan and his friend group walked up to Y/N and their friends. “Leave us alone Valerian”, Y/N said. “Come on Y/N, your no fun” he said. Valerian and Nicasia hold down your friends down. “Hold on Y/N you have something on your face let me fix that” Locke said. Locke grips your throat and presses you against a tree.

You try to break free from him but there’s no budge. “Leave her I quite like the way her face is”. He releases her and Nicasia and Valerian released her friends.

We leave and when we are far from them the ghost ask if Y/N is okay. “Yes I am, I just hate it that he always does this to us”. “I don’t know Y/N I think he only has it out on you” Jude says.

Y/N and the Ghost have been dating a while. The Ghost cups your cheek and hugs you. “Don’t worry I promise you they won’t hurt you”.

“I love you” he says. “As do I” I say in return.

Cardan’s tail lives rent free in my mind.

For one thing, he can’t control it. He tries to hide his true emotions but his tail betrays him and reveals them, thus he keeps it hidden.

When Jude kidnaps Cardan and he exclaims he has a tail “Would you like to see it!” He’s not just being nervous and funny, he’s showing that he’s going to be completely truthful with her.

The tail is described as thin and mostly hairless except for a tuft of hair at the end. You know who else has a thin mostly hairless tail with a tuft of hair at the end? A lion! And Cardan’s tail behaves like it belongs to a cat.

For instance, the first time Jude and Cardan are intimiate, she describes pulling down his pants and

In his mind he was exposing his feelings to this powerful woman that seemed to not be hurt by anyone or anything. In a later chapter he is hurt when she acts as though that intimate moment meant nothing to her.

The second time they’re intimate, Jude describes the tail as

Then when they’re getting down to business, the tail

Baby, that’s possessivness. That tail is saying what Cardan is screaming inside, MINE! That’s his woman. The tail wrapping around another being is also done when the pair is bonded. It means they have accepted you as part of them. Jude isn’t just his woman, his wife; she has become a part of him.

Also, in question of if the tail wags from side to side when he sees Jude, it probably doesn’t. That’s dog tail behavior. Cardan’s tail probably shoots straight up in the air with the tuft end in a hook like a cat’s does when it sees it’s favorite people and friends.

Sometimes I just think of when Cardan is telling Jude about the whole thing where her exile was just a scheme or whatever, I think of how Cardan just wanted Jude to be proud of him, proud because he fooled everyone, just like she does. I think about it and break just a little bit more, because that's how he would have made Baelkin proud, by doing what his brother would have done, so he just assumed to make Jude proud he had to do what she does. Our baby High King was just so desperate for love and validation, indeed.

Jude: (pointing at Cardan's shirt) What colour is Cardan's shirt??

Absolutely priceless to me that Jude only realised she's in Cardan's room in Hallow Hall because she saw his closet.

Like the school books did not raise any flags at all. Why wouldn't faeries that went to that place for nothing more than partying and getting high, have their homework spread out on the table?
