So first of all, I just want to make it clear: that post is, objectively speaking, correct. Every sentence here is correct. Watching other people have sex will not inherently do any of those things to you, and it is not an act with an inherent moral value.

But. But but but but but.

Do NOT try and take that to say that consuming pornography can never cause damage to the consumer. And it can, also, given specific circumstances (especially with teenagers), do the specific things that OP was explaining are not intent risks of watching pornography. I can literally tell you from experience that every time I was spiraling and using porn as a cope, it WAS rotting my brain (as in, it became my go-to instinct whenever I was alone and wanted to feel less disassociated and dead inside, and then ended up feeling even more disassociated and dead inside every time it was over, and then repeat until I kicked myself out of that loop), and it WAS objectively addictive (as in, I kept going back to it even as it continued to make my mental state worse), and it DID ruin my view of sex (as in, it made me go and do sexual stuff with people I wasn't attracted to or actually interested in, just because I came to associate sex with the momentary distraction from how awful my life was feeling, so I came to put myself in situations that I found genuinely boring and disgusting and just... Assumed that the satisfaction from the status of "teen with a sexual history" and knowing you're breaking a rule was a normal thing to be the only thing you want from sex AND IT TOOK ME LITERAL YEARS TO REALIZE SEX COULD ACTUALLY BE FUN AND NICE), so, like... It is genuinely upsetting to see people trying to turn "the harms that can be caused by sexually explicit contents are overblown and essentialized" into "religious guilt is the only reason it could ever make you feel bad and you need to get over that". And again, I'm not saying that it's damaging in every single context, there definitely were times in my life in which I was consuming specific forms of sexually explicit content and it wasn't wrecking my brain, but I think that pornography can mainly be a risk to your mental health if, like... It makes you feel sexually disassociated and numb and still come back to it. That's mostly where I think it can hurt you. And the people trying to crash the nuance in this just annoy me so much.

Let's try again since radfems are stupid.

There is nothing about *looking* at sex that is any morally different to engaging in sex. Adding a camera does not affect morality either. It will not rot your brain or make you an addict or force you to change your views on sex or mess with your brain chemicals and bonds with people or any other bullshit that people come out with. Sex is ok to look at.

Loneliness, fears, phobias, depression, and anxiety are not so much reactions to real life situations as they are negative maladaptive thinking patterns. The cure or *remedy* lies in exposing the *falsehoods* or *false premises* that create them in the first place, thereby being able to change the negative maladaptive thinking patterns and their associated feelings and emotions. The way to apply this technique is through a process that the Buddhists call “mindfulness.” Christian mystics call it “guarding the heart.”

By constantly paying attention to your mind (i.e. being alert), you grant access to certain thoughts while refusing entry to others. Sometimes you’ll need to question the reliability and authenticity behind the premise of a thought before deciding to accept it as true or discard it as false. With practice, however, you will become successful in removing all forms of anxiety from your life by focusing on the false assumptions behind the negative thinking patterns as well as on the positive things that God has in store for you. 2 Corinthians 10.5 (NIV) explains this technique as follows:

We demolish arguments and every

pretension [or falsehood] that sets itself up

against the knowledge of God [or truth], and

we take captive every thought to make it

obedient to Christ.

Dave Jenkins, the Executive Editor of Theology for Life Magazine, and the Host of the Equipping You in Grace Podcast, put thusly the concept of the guarding of the heart:

For Christians to ‘guard their hearts and

minds’ in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7)

means for them to be alert, through Christ's

power and protection, to what enters and

dwells in their hearts, because the Bible

teaches that what we say and do, and who

we become is the result of the state of our

hearts.

To this end, Philippians 4.7 promises God’s protection:

And the peace of God, which transcends all

understanding, will guard your hearts and

your minds in Christ Jesus.

In order to stay positive and hopeful——in counteracting loneliness, fear, depression, or any other negativity we might have——Paul insists that we should train our minds to entertain only thoughts that are true and beautiful (Philippians 4.8):

true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,

whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,

whatever is admirable--if anything is

excellent or praiseworthy--think about such

things.

An article on TheDailyBeast.com on February 5, 2020 quoted a statistic that was SO SHOCKING that it not only floored me but saddened me to the core as to the current moral state of our people, nation and world. that it not only floored me but saddened me to the core as to the current moral state of our people, nation and world.

They reported that in a nation in which 139 million voted in the last presidential election that 141 million votes were cast for the best pornographic movie in 2019 on the largest sex-video web site in the world. Also, according to this self-same article, these five young women pictured here are the top 'stars' of the adult film world. Not so coincidentally another news article on-line the same day touted proudly that porn stars would now be featured models in a major runway fashion show in New York. If these sex actresses are (or are not) familiar to you, please read on.

We now live in a world, as indicated by today’s insightful and prophetic verse that all that was once considered virtuous has turned vile, where being “straight” is out of step with the times while lewd thoughts, language, dress, and actions are not only accepted but celebrated.

While many that read this may not know or be familiar with any of these women, sadly some of you may, and if you do – and especially if you have confessed Christ as your Lord – you have followed the path of perversion from goodness above. If so, you need to turn now and REPENT (literally change your mind) and seek forgiveness.

This epidemic of a sex-crazed culture and thinking always leads to spiritual destruction. For those on this path, it will never satisfy and will lead to an addiction that will continue to spiral down lower and lower into the denizens of Hell if you let it. But there is good news...

Christ can and does deliver us from ALL sin – no matter how small, large, venial or vial. Make the decision and promise God that RIGHT NOW to never look at these putrid images again!! Change your mind, turn away from the bitter and turn to the sweetness of wholeness and holiness in God. Seek Christ, Get Forgiveness, and Receive His Grace.

You should at least pay for a little bit of porn.

Can we just talk for a minute about the (very pervasive) idea that paying for porn is stupid?

You Should At Least Pay For A Little Bit Of Porn.

Why? Do we think that because porn is readily available so we feel entitled to it for free? Or do we think that because we think people who do porn shouldn’t be able to earn a living?

Pirated music is also readily available. It has definitely put a squeeze on the music industry, but they keep finding ways to rally. Musicians deserve to make money off of their hard work regardless though. Today, most of us “pay” for music in some form or another. We either stream it (and companies make money from ad revenue), pay for a streaming service, or purchase it outright from our favorite artists because we want them to succeed and we appreciate what they do.

Porn is no different. You should stream it from a reputable site with paid ads, pay for a site or service, or purchase directly from your favorite porn star because you appreciate what they do and want them to be able to AFFORD to continue producing content.

And while we’re here, OnlyFans et al…

The other day I was talking to a friend about a guy and he casually asked if any of his OnlyFans had leaked that we could look up. That’s a problem for me. I created various forms of political and social commentary for a long time and I would see my stuff copied and pasted on various sites with no links to my website where my ads paid my bills.

Amateur porn folks are content creators too. They’ve put out a product that the public consumes and they’ve put a price point on it. Stealing it from them isn’t okay just because you feel like dick pics should be freely accessible on tumblr.

Bottom line is, we all masturbate and most of us consume porn when we do it. Somebody made it. Either they made it in their bedroom or they made it on location with a crew. If you want to continue consuming porn, the business has to work economically. SOMEBODY has to be buying porn or studios can’t afford to pay talent and make more movies. SOMEBODY has to subscribe to these OnlyFans accounts or those content creators won’t put in the money for better equipment and the time to make new content.

Support your favorite porn performers the same way you support your favorite music performers.  Show them you appreciate what they do so they want to (and can afford to) keep doing it for you.

I can’t even really get into it esp with civvies in general but sex workers are performing what should be understood to be an integral if not sacred function in society so I really would like anyone who opens their mouth about porn to know more about it than what free shit is on tubesites because that’s always the bottom of the mainstream barrrel. Next is the most popular stuff on paysites which will always be skewed towards the mainstream - aka cis men, usually white, most often who identify as straight (even though their porn history puts this into question).

If you look at porn created by sex workers who have more agency and ability to determine their audience and content (aka this is something that can be hard to do bc capitalism sucks and working in such a currently toxic industry presses you to compete with the mainstream) you will see creative, positive, and even spiritual content being made.

But I never ever hear y’all talk about that shit bc your entire view of porn is related to what you see on free porn blogs vs what you discuss about it as an abstract concept related to feminism. Your entire concept of porn is ‘porn according to the desires of the average cis dude’ which like, this is fair to critique but understand that the issue there isn’t the porn it’s the cis dudes.

‘Porn’ isn’t transphobic, racist, misogynistic and homophobic…cis men are and that’s what they beat off to.

Nuance is p cool bc it helps you identify the root of a problem more accurately bye.
