Oswald Cobblepot - Gotham (2014-19) - Asexual

We're kicking off Pride Month with Oz since I'm currently in the middle of my Gotham rewatch and I can't get this off my mind. It's more technically semi-canon, but I just had to include him.

Relatable moments:

Telling his mom he "doesn't date" due to aceness in an allo world + other outside factors just generally combining to not wanting to yet. Soon followed by, despite this, catching feelings for a friend and it ending with said friend getting a gf about the time feelings were to be confessed (my situation thankfully didn't end in murder. it actually just ended in nothing happening since I never said anything since no murder happened haha)

Queer mother-figure that helped in formative years (that is the only way my softball coach is like Fish tho lolll)

Wearing ace flag colors subconsciously literally all the time

Fed up with straight people's drama

I, too, would adopt a slightly violent child from an orphanage on my own (I love Martin so much)

Edward Nygma - Gotham (2014-2019) - Arospec Demisexual

Naturally, since yesterday was Oz, today is Ed

@arabriddler has a good post about Ed being demi, which I will reblog after this. It about covers it, though I will add that he also knew Lee for years before they got together, too. Isabella is a whole different thing and lots of projection and yada yada and I don't feel like getting into it here. Mainly, the connection between Isabella and Kristen says a lot and further proves how he's demi to me

Arospec: throughout canon, it becomes clear that Ed has a complicated relationship with all forms of love, what it means to love and be loved, etc. Add in more in love with the idea of Kristen than her actual self, explicitly telling Oswald he doesn't love him (though that is also contributed to by other things), not being able to tell Lee he loves her, and we've got quite a set up for arospec Ed

Plus, if you hc Ed as bi as well, (which,,, why wouldn't you?) repression caused by comphet would also repress any feelings he also has revolving around being on the a-spectrum, and thus contributing to him being the way he acts and tries to present himself vs who he actually is.

Also, he's a walking aro flag color scheme from season 3 onwards, so. If Oswald can be ace and a walking ace flag, he can be arospec and a walking aro flag

Anne Shirley - Green Gables series and adaptations - Demiromantic

I love Anne a lot and related to her a lot growing up. I hc her as demiromantic partially because it takes her so long to recognize that her feelings for Gilbert have turned romantic. There are also a few other things:

She idealizes what she thinks she wants in a romantic partner based on the books she grew up reading

When she finally does have this, she has to come to the realization that she's not actually attracted to men like that and that her romantic feelings are inclined in a different way than she had expected

When all her friends are starting to fall in love with people around them (and not just crushing or romanticizing), she is still figuring out her feelings and how they differ from those around her

Also, Project Green Gables made their version of Anne demiromantic, which is amazing, so go check that out if you're an Anne fan and haven't yet

Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games - Demi

I feel like this one almost speaks for itself, heh. She's aesthically attracted to many people throughout the trilogy, sure, but the only person she ever develops feelings for is Peeta. Even then, it's not until after trust has been established and they are good friends that she gets to that point, either.

Some might say her trauma influences her demisexuality. That's entirely possible and a very valid argument. How big of a role it plays depends on your personal interpretation

I've heard she's aroace in the comics? Queen. Hopefully it'll actually translate over into the MCU, but given the MCU's treatment of a lot of their characters over the years, I just hope they don't make too much of a mess with whatever they do

A favorite moment: when Natasha asks her what she wants to do with her future (settling down, etc) and she says she wants a dog

Also I love the concept of there being an aroace Widow. She also reminds me a lot of my own little sister, who is ace. Iconic, really

Kix - The Clone Wars (2008) - Aspec

Admittedly, I have written quite a few fanfics with Kix at the center of them. no i will not be linking my ao3 on this post this blog is separate for personal reasons No matter how many times I write him, he just screams aspec to me. Particularly in the way that he just doesn't care for romance or sex and doesn't ever bother with them or trying to figure out if he falls anywhere on any sort of spectrum.

Along those lines, if he ever did feel any sort of attraction to anyone, he just brushes it aside. He's like "ah, okay" and just continues about his day. Nobody ever questions him about it and he goes about his life doin' his own thing. He's living his best life (in regards to that... let's not get into the tragedy of his story right now, I do that enough in fics lol)

Are there more specific terms to define him? Yeah, probably. He just tells everyone "I'm fine as is" if the topic ever does actually arise and that's good enough for everyone

I once told a friend a stripped of Star Wars, watered down version of an au I had with Wolffe and was explaining about him losing his eye. Her reaction was "and then he gets a girlfriend and becomes happy and everything is alright!"

Let me tell you. My eyes about bugged out of my head. I was like, "Uhhh no. Because happiness does not have to equate to having a significant other. He's doing just fine recovering with the help of his dad and his brothers, thank you very much"

Anyway, this man is very aroace to me. Rolls eyes hard whenever the Wolfpack share their chaotic allo stories with him

Favid Diloni himself said her arc was never about romance. Lex was sooooo comphet for her it's not even funny. Thankfully, she talked about it next time she was around Wolffe and he helped her out a lot more than Anakin did. Added bonus of Wolffe knowing exactly what she's going through and relating, not just understanding.

Anakin trying to relate to her on this would be an absolute trainwreck. He just would, even if he tried really hard not to. Secretly married vs. aroace. What a dynamic. A real allo-aroace sibling dynamic.

Also, if anyone is a walking pride flag, it's Ahsoka. Like. C'mon.

Commander Fox - The Clone Wars (2008) - Aromantic

Since there is so little about Fox and basically every version of him out there is just headcanons, this is one that I frequently enjoy reading about. He gets a front and center view of how alloromantic civilians and senators are and he's probably Very Fed Up with it. Give him a break 2k24

However you headcanon him, go ahead and have fun. I don't really have too much of an explanation for this one like I do for the others. It's mainly the vibes. Some people picked up on them before me, I saw it, and decided to adopt it myself.

But yeah. I just think aro Fox is neat :)

Captain Rex - The Clone Wars (2008) - Aroace

Okay so actually it's more like Rex 🤝Ahsoka 🤝 Wolffe sibling bonding over being aroace but I couldn't reveal that before I got to Rex's day. So Rex is there to help her during the comphet, Wolffe is just the one to doubly reassure her that she's not going crazy

You know this man is fed up with dealing with Anakin and Padme all the time. We already know he's terrible at covering for them. Add in not wanting to acknoweldge what he's actually covering for could distract him enough to make his bad lying skills worse.

Somehow Rex gives off The Most Aroace Dad energy. Not quite sure how, but he manages it. Gotta love him for it.

Also a semi-walking aroace flag, but only when his hair is shaded enough to seem more orange?? lol

Echo - The Clone Wars (2008) - Aspec

(Why were the best pictures I could find of him all angled the same direction lol? Must be because he's always on Fives' right and has to turn to talk to him)

I'll be real with you guys, this one is partially just self-projection. Echo is one of my favorites and I've related to him a lot. It's just natural that he would then be aspec, too.

Mainly, he's aspec because I haven't figured out more specific for him. He'd certainly be able to figure it out himself, I just haven't spared the mental energy for a more specific headcanon.

Also I like the idea of him being aspec and Fives being bi. It's like "yeah neither of you are straight. neither of you are necessarily gay either. in opposite ways, though." Despite what people think there aren't too many things that make the domino twins different from each other and I like that this particular set of hcs reflects that, too

Anyway. Enjoy aspec Echo. He's a delight

Jango Fett - Attack of the Clones (2002) - Asexual

The man. The myth. The legend.

What better ace icon than the man that literally respawned asexually lollllll. Literally allows a clone army to be made from his DNA just so he gets a single son without having to have sex. 100/10. No notes.

Does this make the entirety of the clone army ace? No. That's not how cloning works. But once they find out what asexuality is and hear about how Boba was the main "payment" from the Kaminoans, they'd probably have a laugh, too, just like me and all the other people who decided Jango's ace

Anyway. Everyone should at least admire Jango for the ace icon George Lucas accidentally made him into. It's the best.

Carter Kane - The Kane Chronicles - Asexual

I actually found out about asexuality from a Zia/Carter fic I read my freshman year of high school. The fic mentioned AVEN. I checked it out afterward based on how Carter felt in the fic and found out I was ace myself, so this headcanon is very near and dear to my heart

Part of this comes from how Carter describes Zia compared to how Sadie describes Walt and Anubis. While Sadie goes on and on about how hot they are, Carter only uses words along the lines of beautiful to describe Zia

Not understanding what people mean when they say someone is hot is something I very strongly relate to. It's more than just respecting people in your thoughts -- it's a complete lack of understanding on what others mean and it not even occuring to you since you never think of it until something brings it up. It's part of what defines my aceness.

To say this headcanon (and fic) changed my life would be an understatement. It has helped me better understand who I am and helped me know I am not alone at a time where I was beginning to wonder about why I was different than my friends. It brought me comfort before I even knew I would be needing comfort. There's no way I'm ever letting this one go 💜🤍🩶🖤

Pride Month Aspec (Head)canons Day 14

Stereotypical Barbie - Barbie (2023) - Aroace

Firstly, Barbie is canonically ace, so jot that down. (Thank you, Margot Robbie!) And I know lots of people saw her as a lesbian. I respect a good lesbian ace Barbie hc

Personally, I like to see her as aroace. That end conversation with Ken just screamed it to me. I knew going in that some people saw aroace Barbie and throughout the entire movie, I was looking for it. Lo and behold, that scene delivered and gave me exactly what I was looking for. It made me very happy to watch

Her arc as a whole was very aroace to me. Being in society and knowing you're different than you expect yourself to be (aka comphet and internalized amatonormativity etc etc) and trying to figure yourself out. And in the end, accepting those difference and moving forward and being stronger and all the better for it.

Added bonus of the yellow dress she wears in the scene with Ken fitting in with the flag color scheme <3

Gwenpool - Marvel Comics - Aroace

Okay this one isn't a headcanon but that's because Gwenpool is canoncially aroace!! Whatta queen.

Tbh I'm not completely up to date on this. I do remember a few posts about how even though the comic said aroace, there was more emphasis on the ace part than the aro part. So here's some lovely aroace flags with her to hopefully help bridge any gaps there are existing between those.

I remember reading a Young Avengers comic a bit ago that had her in a relationship. I also remember just being like "what" the entire time because it did Not seem like it was supposed to be happening. I guess even then, without knowing much about her, I had picked up on the aroace vibes before they made it canon. Interesting how that worked out.

Anyway, gotta love a canon aroace character. Especially one as cool as her!

Troy Barnes - Community (2009) - Asexual

I'll admit, I adopted this one from some fanfics I came across as well. I like it since his arc is about him feeling more comfortable being himself and not feeling the need to display the stereotypical jock persona that was forced on him during high school anymore.

At the beginning of the show, he's seen wrestling with this a lot, including hooking up with girls a lot. What better explanation than comphet for that in the midst of it all?

This is one of my hcs that I'm more flexible on, but who doesn't love adding in a relatable headcanon to their favorite characters every once in a while?
