So, India is dying.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
People are dying.
People are dying and there is no plan.
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.

If zombies were real, you wouldn't first be warned by the approaching horde by their smell, by their groans, not even a cloud of smoke of the dust they raise coming closer from the horizon. It would be the flies. Like you did not just kick a hornet's nest, but the very ground you walk on was a hornet nest, and each step caused another explosion of insects.
Insects, corpse flies, the buzzing. Their swarms blacken the skies, more horrifying than their migrating meals. The deafening cacophony of constant buzzing, the horrid noise of the living who feast on the dead who feast on the living. The buzzing.
The endless, inescapable buzzing.
My town is gone.
If you’ve been watching the noise and paying attention to California, you’ve heard about the Camp Fire.
In a matter of hours, the fire jumped to 20,000 acres. This morning it reached 70,000. My town of Paradise, where I’ve lived my entire life, was consumed entirely. Very little containment has been reached and the situation is absolute hell.
My house was one of the first to go.
My mom and my sisters and I barely got out, in separate cars, and we got separated for 10 hours. My mom and little sister were stuck in Paradise with all my pets in the flames until my stepdad was able to get gas to them so they could get out. My cat was lost, and I personally was only able to grab an extremely small amount of my own belongings because I was helping my mom to grab important documents and photos and to get the pets situated.
We are now homeless, with no clue where to go from here, and desperately in need of help to get food, clothes, supplies, anything. My mom has been disabled for 3 years and we survive on a single income from my stepdad, who is a firefighter. His friends have been hurt trying to fight this. We have a dog with us, and two guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon.
My mom set up a fundraiser, even though we are not at all the type to ask for so much help.

I honestly just want to cry.
ADAM (yes, the extremely transphobic, lesbophobic film) has been nominated for a GLAAD award - if you don’t know, those are one of the biggest LGBTQ media awards to exist.
I don’t know what to do at this point. I’ve tried so hard to raise awareness. And I keep saying, I’m not even trying to ban people from watching it but just letting people know what it’s really about (a transphobic cishet person pretending to be trans to rape lesbians!!) because the film promotes itself as LGBTQ representation and I don’t think it’s okay to basically trick vulnerable LGBTQ teens into watching it when it’s not representation at all.
But even if it doesn’t win, being nominated in the first place gives their claims of LGBTQ representation more credibility. This is going to hurt people.
I’m just so tired. I’ve tried my best and nothing has worked. The people who have actual platforms just keep refusing to listen to us anyway. No one cares.
my least favourite running joke amongst my friends is how i’m “straight” because i’m dating a man. how my (actually) straight guy friends are gayer than me because they always talk about sucking each other off. i didn’t go to an all girls high school and get bullied and ridiculed and mocked and shamed for liking girls just to have that erased. i didn’t live my formative years in confusion, shame, and embarrassment because i like girls for these fuckwits to come in and say this. but if i say that, i’m just “being dramatic” and “it’s just a joke”. they don’t get it.

This post is going to rushed but I’m still shaking and it’s hard to type but I NEED people to know this
My mom just took my dog to the vet She(my dog) was(still is?) having a seizure
Last month we took my dog to the vet and they told us she had developed diabetes, they told us it was caused by the food she was eating, purina beneful. They told us that there have been many many many reports of Beneful has been causing diabetes, seizures, and even death in dogs.
We had no idea
We immediately switched her food and put her on a special diet plan for her diabetes, unfortunately the effects were already permeate.
Today at 11:20 my mom woke me up crying, I helped her carry my dog to the car (while she was still having a seizure) and watched her drive away red faced and still crying.
Please please PLEASE if you are feeding your pets Purina beneful PLEASE switch their food ASAP Beneful is poising dogs and I don’t want anyone else to experience what I just did Also if you could please help me signal boost this so everyone can know

We're getting kinda close to October so a little upsetting remember - if you have a black cat keep them inside on and around halloween
The reason is pretty bad and kinda gory so I put it under the cut
Since black cats are associated with evil and witches, people will kill them, abuse them and/or perform rituals on them in October
Some people have kidnapped cats and killed them, or tied fireworks to them, some people have done rituals and 'sacrificed' them
Most pet shops/animal rescues won't let people adopt cats around halloween because of the sick things people do to them (and because the ones that live usually get sent back right after halloween)
It's sick and so wrong, I keep my cat in for most of the month because I don't want him in danger and I should not have to do that. So protect your cats, don't be a dick and happy halloween
