I’m trying to write a story and I want to add romance but it’s hard because I don’t like romance. The only reason I’m doing this is because I looked at my character and was like you. you are gay. And now I really ship them but I don’t want to WRITE IT

Sometimes my dreams have so many crazy plot twists that actually make so much sense within the context of the story and the world they’re set in but then I wake up and spend so much time trying to remember the details of how the story got there that I forget it by the time I get to writing it down.

currently creating an AMV in my head about characters that will probably never actually be part of the stories I’m writing and therefore wouldn’t have any visuals that I could actually make an AMV out of

I’m trying to write a character that has a crush on their friend, but writing about someone having a crush is just so. . . cringey. It comes off insincere and shallow, and I just keep sitting here like “my friends are spending time on this?” Maybe it’s just because I don’t know how it feels, but this is just so awkward and I hate it.

No I am definitely not writing a character that’s aromantic so that I can have someone to project on, why would anyone think that that’s a ridiculous notion

How NaNoWriMo started: *a good balance between action and dialogue, exposition done in a natural way*

How it’s going: *all dialogue with the occasional nod or smile, run-on sentences, exposition spoon-fed to the audience*

I got bored of a story I was writing so I started playing around with the roles and it made me realise that the characters had never respected the guy that was originally their leader. They liked him, but he was a child to them. And like I had never realised they thought of him that way but everything I wrote them into always led to that conclusion. It made me kind of sad, but I’m the one who did it, so now I can go back and change his character so they respect him more.

My brother is so annoying, I'll be like "Here's my new idea for a story! It's just vibes right now lol 😆" and he'll be like "See?!?!?! You can't write any of this because there's no plot!!!1!!1!!! THAT'S why your story sounds so awful!!!! You need to know exactly where the story is going and you have NO CLUE what you're doing!! Who are the characters???? What are their arcs???? How does this all connect????? If you don't already know that, then you CAN'T write this and have it turn out good!!"

Brother stfu I created this last night how do you expect me to have a fully fleshed out narrative when it's still in development

To everyone who’s reading this and those who follow me, I apologise for being guilty of finding a new fictional character attractive every single week. HELP- because I think I’m losing interest in Finnick Odair and I might just abandon all of the drafts I have of him 😭😭. But look out for any new posts because I might soon write for Luke Castellan from the new PJO series!!!

The only kind of sexual tension I have, is with my google doc as my so called this-is-going-to-be-such-a-hit wip lays on the screen with 217 word count.

Writing culture is getting the motivation to go ahead with your story but not getting the motivation to ACTUALLY WRITE based on the former said motivation.

WRITING EXERCISE 101

Do you want to write visually? Do you want to write your scenes descriptively AND not get your readers bored? Do you envy the authors whose work are so indulging even if it doesn't have a fun storyline or too much dialogues? If yes, me too.

While surfing through the internet about it, I couldn't find much help. So I had no option but to devise my own practice method. And I swear on Aaron Blackford and my other fictional boyfriends, IT WORKS MAGIC.

So..... one article I found was going on and on about, think like a screenwriter, see like a poet, paint with words etc etc, and I remember thinking-- only if it was this easy.

In this method all you need is, still picture from any of your favorite movie or show (better if it is in the same genre as your WIP) and a blank document open. You don't need to think so hard like a scriptwriter or see things from a poet's perspective if you're not one yourself.

You open the picture on one side of your device and open your document on the other, and you describe exactly word by word about what YOU see. You can even refer to the context of the movie in that scene or maybe make up a new one by yourself.

Don't try to force in poetic devices if you can't think of any at that moment.

Instead, when you'll later read that piece of text again, i promise, you will get a rush of new and better ideas.

Practice this a few more times and the next time when you'll start to work on your WIP, you'll have a much better and clearer idea of what you AND your reader want to have there.

Make sure to let me know how this worked out for y'all!

Thank me later<3

Other people: Oh how I want this! I'm gonna make it happen for myself.

Me, a writer: Oh how I want this! But since this is not gonna happen to me lemme just write a book about it where I've imprinted my personality and appearance traits onto the main character as it is.

Writing problems

One of the greatest things about the writing community is how I’m not alone in writing a wip I keep telling myself I’ll start.
