And, I AM a biology student! So I know some botany and local plant identification just from that! I don’t study anything in particular because my degree is more zoology-focused but I do have a cool class in medicinal plants coming up this year!

I think this is the best way I can answer this question:

I have learned the hard way that YouTube caps playlists at 5,000 videos. I had to make a “Watch Later 2” to hold more videos. I am currently adding things to my “Watch Later 3.”

I have roughly 10,700 videos saved to my collective watch later

it is random! Tumblr is rolling it out slowly to random people, so you WILL have it eventually. it does stink not everyone gets it rn :/

Writerology: This site is trying to sell you stuff. But there are also a ton of great articles in their free blog

Descriptionary: Help describing emotions and other things

Grammarly: Don’t take it too seriously and remember you’re the final arbiter of your own writing voice, but it can help you see things you won’t on your own

Hemingway: Similarly to Grammarly, will help with clarity and cadence, as long as you don’t take its suggestions as marching orders. Available online or as a downloadable desktop app.

Worldbuilding

Vulgar: Conlanging tool.  Free and paid versions, the free is still very useful, but I have the paid version and have definitely gotten my money’s worth from it (but I like conlanging).  Learning curve is a little steep.

Inkarnate: Mapmaking tool. Again, free and paid versions are both solid.

It has come to my attention some people want to get me started on the lampreys

Lampreys are a member of the infraphylum Agnatha, meaning they are “jawless fish.” They literally don’t have jaw bones. Instead they have horrific, nightmarish mouths that look like giant, tooth-lined plungers.

They prove just how fake the term “fish” really is. Scientifically, we can only consider something a clade if it includes a common ancestor and ALL of its descendants. (This means that it’s not a scientifically valid group if all of its descendants aren’t in it.)

So, what does that mean? Well. If our jawless fish friends, lampreys and hagfish, are fish, that means every single Gnathostome is a fish.

Gnathostomes are… jawed vertebrates.

As such, tuna, alligators, frogs, raccoons, cats, and people are also fish.

They are right! There IS no such thing as a fish! Sharks and trout, for example, are both considered fish, but trout are MUCH more closely related to humans than they are to sharks, making “fish” an invalid classificatory group (and don’t even get me started on lampreys)
