❥ melt your heart | chapter three
pairing: draco malfoy x oc genre: best friends to lovers! slow burn! warnings: TROLL IN THE DUNGEON word count: 3.3k masterlist: melt your heart last chapter: chapter two next chapter: chapter four
THE HOSPITAL WING was empty except for the only patient there, neville. "'ello, nevs. how's the wrist doing?" julianna asked him, neville mustered up a smile. "madam pomfrey tended to it. should be healed up in no time. it's okay, i'm used to getting injured by now." his reply brings julianna to a frown, "best be more careful then? don't want your limbs disappearin' all a sudden." she joked and handed him the glass ball, "here's your remembrall. i'm sorry about draco, he's just a big, stinking bully." she apologised and neville shook his head, "i should stand up to him, b-but i just- i'm too scared." "and hey, that's alright. move at your own pace. it's already a huge improvement that you do want to stand up to malfoy." julianna comforted him, patting him on the shoulder.
when madam pomfrey came back, she had said neville could be discharged and so they walked off to their respective classes. sadly for julianna, her class was history of magic with ravenclaw. it went by slower than slower could go by, and that says a lot. however, once it was finished and she came out of the classroom, she was faced with whispers around her about how harry was the new gryffindor seeker. immediately, she rushed off to see him.
she found them staring at a trophy case. "gryffindor's brand new seeker?! amazing!" she gushed and harry turned a bright shade of pink, "it's not that amazing." "oh, but it is!" julianna insisted and then she caught what the three of them were looking at, "merlin! your father was a seeker too?" the revelation shocks her, harry nodded as his eyes roamed around the case and saw something. "seemed like your father was one too?" he asked and julianna almost snapped her neck at how fast she looked. there stood, in all its glory, a plaque with the name 'maurice candy' written on it. julianna tip toed as high as she could to admire it, "he was a seeker?" she whispered to herself, her eyes glistening.
"he's a bloody seeker?!" she exclaimed in a high register, startling the three gryffindors. "could've been something better like a beater but he's a seeker?! no offense, harry." she turned to him and he had a deadpanned look on his face. "gee, none taken." he rolled his eyes playfully, "what's wrong with seeker?" ron asked, "well, it's kind of overrated, don't you think? either way, it's just my preference. i like the beaters' position much better." julianna crosses her arms, "well, what's your mother's name?" hermione asked, her eyes observing the awards. "ivy purice." "oh, look at that. she's a beater for slytherin." hermione's words had julianna scrambling over to her spot, "where?!" "right there! look with your eyes, not your elbows!" julianna glares at hermione for the nagging and looks at the plaque. it was right there, her mother's name with the words beater over it. this meant the entire world to julianna, learning something new about her parents.
the four of them walked up to the gryffindor common room, the three said julianna could tag along for a bit since she needed hermione's help with history of magic. ron was telling harry how spooky it is that hermione knew more about him than he knew himself, when all of a sudden, the stairs started moving. "what's happening?!" harry exclaimed, "the staircases change, remember?" hermione reminded them, "let's go this way." harry chanted once the staircase stopped moving, "yeah, before this staircase moves again." ron commented.
the four of them headed up to the third floor and went through the door, only to realise this was a place they really shouldn't be in if they didn't want to die a most painful and horrible death, as dumbledore had said. the corridor was dark and dusty, not to mention creepy. "let's go." harry said when a fire lit up the more they walked forward but it was too late, for filch's cat, mrs. norris, was already behind them.
"oh, bugger! filch's cat!" julianna hissed, "shoo, mrs. norris, shoo!" she attempted to get her away but alas, it did not work because she is a cat, and cats listen to nobody. "run!" harry exclaimed and the four of them ran through the corridor until they stumbled upon a door. "quick, let's hide through that door!" julianna went to go open it but it didn't budge one bit. "it's locked!" she cried, "that's it, we're done for!" ron cried as well, "oh, move over!" hermione snapped, pushing both of them out of the way. she pointed her wand at the lock and casted a spell, "alohomora." with that, the door opened.
the four skedaddled into the previously locked room and closed the door. "alohomora?" "standard book of spells, chapter seven." hermione explains to ron who was confused with what spell she just used. harry and julianna looked at the room while the other two were talking, "filch is gone." hermione announced, "probably thought the door was locked." "and for good reason." harry and julianna said in sync as the four saw the reason why the room was locked.
before them stood a black, gigantic, three-headed dog that had just awoken from it's sleep. the four screamed and the dogs growled in return. they hurriedly exited the terrifying room and shut the door as quickly as they could before the dogs could attack them.
from there, julianna departed from them and headed towards her own common room, too shaken up to care about the homework she needed help with. 'that was horrid.' she thought, hugging herself as she made her way through the kitchen, accidentally bumping into a house elf. "oh! sorry!" she apologised to the tiny creature, "oh, young master candy needn't apologise to ditzy gilpy. it twas gilpy's fault." the house elf, gilpy, bowed, julianna had seen her around the kitchens before, she made lovely cookies. "no, gilpy. it was entirely my fault, i wasn't focusing. take the apology, yeah?" she smiled at gilpy and gilpy reluctantly nodded before going back to her duties.
when julianna reached the hufflepuff common room, she saw ernie macmillan was reading a book near the fire, three other hufflepuffs were conversing at one of the tables and hannah and susan were doing their homework at one of the tables as well. julianna dashed straight towards them, placing her book bag onto the seat before sitting down herself.
"where've you been, juli?" hannah asked, looking up from her stressful potions homework. "oh- uh- um-" julianna had no idea what to say, she was stumped to say the least. "was trying to find hermione granger and ask her to help me with history of magic. didn't find her." she lied, opening up her bag and taking out her history of magic textbook. "do you need me to help?" susan volunteered but julianna only shook her head, "to be entirely honest, i only wanted to ask hermione 'cause if i pretend i don't understand anything at all, she'll do my homework for me indirectly." julianna gives the two a cheeky smile as they roll their eyes with smiles on their faces.
julianna was heading to charms class when draco had sauntered next to her. "candy." he greeted but julianna didn't respond. she hadn't talked to him since the incident with neville's remembrall. "what? are you still not talking to me?" he scoffed in disbelief, julianna pretended not to hear him. "what do you want me to say? sorry?" still, no answer. draco sighed out of frustration, "fine, i'm sorry. happy?" nope, nothing. the blonde boy groaned, "you can't ignore me forever, juli." wrong! she can.
"could you tell me how to get you back to talking to me?" draco pleaded, now, this, this was a surprise to julianna. did he miss her that much? she puts her finger up, signalling him to wait till they reach the charms classroom. they walked in silence and when they reached the classroom, they decided to sit next to each other.
she took out her parchment, quill and ink, only to start writing something on it. she handed it over to draco, the note read:
hello, draco. if you want me to start speaking to you again, you need to apologise. not to me, but to neville. if not, i will no longer speak to you for the rest of my remaining days here at hogwarts.
draco's eyeballs nearly bulged out of their sockets reading the bloody note. "apologise?! to longbottom?!" he repeated out loud, julianna nodded. draco thought about it, she only said during her days at hogwarts, so he would just have to wait for another seven years before being able to talk to her again. he could totally survive that! no, he can't. he'll literally pass away. with a distressed sigh, he gave in. "okay, fine! i'll apologise to longbottom later! can you please just talk to me now for the time being?" draco asked, the hufflepuff thought about it but shook her head.
then, she had no choice but to talk to him because professor flitwick had partnered them up. luckily, this spell was quite individualistic so she didn't really see the need to talk to him.
"wingardium leviosa!" julianna swished and flicked her wand as the charms professor had instructed but to no avail, the feather stood still. julianna was never really good at charms, she just didn't have the talent for it. draco saw her struggle. "try saying the words on the same beat as the swish and flick. like this." draco demonstrated it but didn't carry out the spell, the hufflepuff tried to follow but it was no use, the feather still wouldn't float up. soon, hermione's feather had gone up and seamus' had blown up. nothing new really.
at her last attempt, the feather managed to float up and julianna let out a giggle. "i did it, draco!" "mm, that didn't take you long to talk to me again." and julianna immediately went silent, "oh great. gone back to the silent treatment d'ya?" he complained and julianna slightly nods, "i'll-" he sighs heavily once more, "apologise to longbottom later." he finishes his sentence and casts the spell, his feather going up at once and julianna smiles without him noticing.
after the class, draco and julianna had cornered neville(he struggled a bit because he thought they were going to beat him up), he couldn't believe the fact that draco malfoy was apologising to him but he knew it was all thanks to julianna and he appreciated it, draco sounded pretty sincere. the rest of the day the slytherin and hufflepuff hung out until dinner arrived, draco told crabbe and goyle to go off on their own, underneath a tree near the black lake.
"are you sure we're allowed to be here, dray?" she asked, draco leaned back onto the stump. "who cares? i need a break from all that incessant learning." he groaned, closing his eyes while julianna sat next to him and opened up her sketchbook. the blonde opened up one of his eyes and peered over her shoulder, "you draw?" he asked, julianna let out a tiny 'mhm' as she started drawing a base of the lake before them. they sat in silence for hours, just enjoying each other's company. "draco?" "yeah?" "do you ever wonder what it would be like to be a bird?" draco stares at her for a while, "no, why the bloody hell would i do something like that?" he asked, puzzled. julianna sighed and leaned back, coincidentally leaning slightly on his shoulder but draco doesn't do anything to move her.
"i mean, to fly, to be free, from expectations and responsibilities. just fly constantly." she explained, looking at the water as she did some finishing touches on her sketch. draco stayed silent. he wasn't going to lie, he would like that. "done!" she shouted and a few birds in the tree they were laying under flew away. "merlin, you scared the birds away, candy floss." he muttered, earning julianna's attention. "candy floss?" she leaned her head to the left as she looked at him before grinning widely, "i like that." she said making draco blush, "what d'you think?" she then showed him her sketch.
it was a sketch of the black lake as expected. what draco wasn't expecting was for there to be a mini tree with a mini her and mini him laying underneath it. "i think it's..." lovely, was one of the words he could have said but being an eleven year old boy who didn't want his feelings to come across, "horrid. my hair doesn't look like that from the back!" he exclaimed, pointing at the drawing. julianna looks perplexed, "turn around for a moment." draco follows, "yep. it looks just like this." draco snapped his head at her, huffing. julianna only cackles before looking back at her sketch. "hm. guess i'll just throw this one away since it turned out bad." she said, tearing out of the sketchbook and as she was about to crumple it up, the boy cried out a "no!" before snatching it. "uh, i mean- i'll throw it for you." draco cleared his throat, turning around the tree stump and crunching up a few leaves, pretending to be crumping up the piece of paper.
julianna only smirked, knowing he probably didn't do that and is probably folding it up real nice to keep in his pocket. she looked at the time and realised it was time for the halloween dinner which she was itching to go to. "it's time for the dinner!" she announced, standing up and dusting her skirt off. julianna placed her sketchbook back into her book bag and slung it over her shoulder. "let's go!" she urged the boy who seemed to just want to continue resting under the tree. it took her a total of 15 minutes to pull him from his spot and head to the great hall.
when they reach the great hall, they bid each other goodbye before heading to their own tables. "hello, everyone!" she greeted susan, hannah, ernie and justin finch-fletchey. "hey, had fun with malfoy?" hannah asked with a raised eyebrow, "now, who said i was with malfoy?" "i did, because i saw you with him near the black lake." the blonde continued, crossing her arms. "well, i'm allowed to hang out with whoever i want, no?" julianna asked, "yes, but be careful with him. he's a horrid person." julianna frowned, sure, he was mean, but he wasn't horrible, right? she ignored the conversation the rest had as she turned around to look at the gryffindor table and realised something weird. hermione granger was nowhere in sight.
weird. she rarely ever misses, well, anything. the doors then slammed open. "troll! in the dungeon! troll in the dungeon!" screeched professor quirrell who came running into the hall, pointing behind him. the entire hall had gone dead silent, the only thing heard was the storm outside. "thought you ought to know." quirrell muttered before fainting, falling to the ground. then, everyone started screaming in panic, dropping all their food and getting out of their seats to scramble out the great hall. julianna sat still, "what can a troll do?" she whispered to herself, confused. "silence!" dumbledore bellowed and the hall become silent once more, "everyone will please not panic." he announced, "now, prefects will lead their house back to the dormitories. teachers will follow me to the dungeons." and soon the chaos became organised chaos.
"alright, first years! come on!" gabriel ushered, not wanting to be near the great hall at all. "hurry! our common room is only one floor down so it won't take too long to get there!" he makes sure each of them are following him but misses when julianna tagged along with the gryffindors to ask harry and ron where hermione was.
when she reached them, the two boys had stopped walking. "julianna-" "where's hermione?" she asked frantically, the boys looked at each other. "oh, no." "she's in the girl's bathroom! we've got to go help her!" harry says and all three of them head back to the staircase. as they made their way there, they spotted a big shadow. "i think the troll's left the dungeon." harry pulled the two behind a wall to hide from the troll as it walked by, "it's going into the girl's bathroom!" julianna says, chasing after the creature. "wait, julianna! wait for us!" harry exclaimed, him and ron trailing after her.
as the three burst into the girl's lavatory, the troll is seen destroying all the stalls with it's club. "hermione! move!" julianna shouted, spotting the girl on the floor inside the stalls. hermione moved under all the walls before cowering to the farthest side of the restroom. her wails for help continued as the boys decided to throw broken wood at the troll to distract it. hermione runs to hide under a sink but it doesn't help one bit. harry takes out his wand and grabs onto the troll's club before landing on its neck, his wand getting stuck in its nose. julianna tries to get pass the troll by ducking underneath while it was distracted with harry, she grabs hermione and brings her back to the other side near the door. "do something!" harry shouted as the troll held onto him by his leg, "i'll go call a teacher! ron, do something!" julianna tells them before running out the door to find at least just one professor.
lucky for her, she stumbled across three. "professors! i found troll! harry in trouble!" she said between pants, holding her knees. mcgonagall, snape and quirrell look at each other before following after julianna without any questions. by the time they arrived, the troll was dead asleep on the ground. "woah! you guys did it!" she said happily, but professor mcgonagall was more relieved.
"you two!" she pointed at harry and ron, "explain yourselves!" she demanded, "well, what it is-" "you see, professor-" "it's my fault, professor mcgonagall." both boys were cut off by hermione, "miss granger?" "i went looking for the troll. i'd read about them and thought i could handle it, but i was wrong. if harry, ron and julianna hadn't come and found me, i'd probably be dead." the other three couldn't believe their ears. hermione granger lying? to a teacher? no, teachers? they all had looks of disbelief on their faces.
"be that as it may, it was an extremely foolish thing to do. i would've expected more rational behaviour on your part and am very disappointed in you, ms. granger. five points will be taken from gryffindor for your serious lack of judgement." professor mcgonagall scolded hermione before turning to the other three, "as for you two gentlemen, i just hope you realise how fortunate you are. not many first-year students could take on a full grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale! five points will be awarded to each of you for sheer dumb luck." ron and harry smile, satisfied with themselves. mcgonagall looked at julianna, "five points to you as well, ms. candy. thank you for coming straight to us to inform of the situation." julianna smiled, "thank you, professor." mcgonagall and snape then leave before quirrell told them they'd better leave as well before the troll woke up.
as the four left the bathroom, harry thanked hermione for getting them out of trouble. "mind you, we did save her life." "mind you, she might not have needed saving if you hadn't insulted her." harry shot back at ron, "what are friends for?" he asked to hermione who only smiled at him, "so that's why she was missing from dinner, was wondering where you went, 'mione." julianna nudged hermione's shoulder with her own as they grinned at each other. safe to say that the four definitely got much closer after that incident.

THE THREE STARE at harry with worried eyes. "take a bit of toast, mate, go on." ron encouraged, "yeah, you're gonna need your strength harry." julianna tells him, rubbing his back. "i'm not hungry." harry simply said, pushing his plate away. suddenly, snape came up to them. "good luck today, potter. then again, now that you've proven yourself against a troll. a little game of quidditch should be easy work for you." he tells him, "even if it is against slytherin." he added before walking away in his usual snape-like fashion.
"that man is extremely confusing. his walk is brilliant though." julianna admitted, admiring the way the potions master dashed away with his cloak following after him. "that explains the blood." harry commented as he watched him walk away, "blood?" julianna asked, "listen, last night, i'm guessing snape let the troll in as a diversion so he could try and get past that three-headed dog but he got himself bitten, that's why he's limping." harry's explanation made julianna flabbergasted.
"i'm sorry, you think professor snape, our potions teacher, let that ghastly troll in, endangering students' lives, in order to get past that three-headed dog from the forbidden corridor?" she tried to understand and harry nodded, "why would he want to do that exactly? i mean, what would it achieve?" "that dog is guarding something. it was standing over a trap door." "you had time to look at its paws?" hermione ignores julianna's incredulous question. "the day i was at gringotts, to get some money out, hagrid took something out of one of the vaults. he said it was hogwarts business, very secret." harry explained further, looking at all three of them. "so, you're saying-" "that's what the dog's guarding. that's what snape wants." harry was so sure of himself that it worried julianna. "harry, i don't think you should jump to conclusions so fast. why would professor snape even want whatever was in that vault?" a squawk then interrupted their conversation, harry's owl, hedwig, swooped down, letting go a package for harry. "bit early for mail, isn't it?" hermione commented, "but i never get mail." a perplexed harry muttered, the four decide to open the package together.
when they opened the package, it revealed to be a a sleek broomstick. "it's a broomstick." harry said, "not just any broomstick, harry!" "it's a nimbus 2000!" ron and julianna exclaimed excitedly, their eyes roaming all over the object. even oliver wood, the gryffindor keeper and captain, was gawking over it. julianna followed the lightning-scarred boy's sight and saw professor mcgonagall petting hedwig. "must be a gift for your match today, potter." julianna teased him, winking and harry smiled contently.
hours passed by quite fast, everyone's excitement for the first match of the season made time go faster. julianna spent most of her day with neville, and they got seats next to each other on the gryffindor bleachers. the brunette was nervous for harry's first game but knew he could handle it.
once the game had begun, there was no surprise that slytherin was already doing some foul play but gryffindor had 20 points by the time harry had found the snitch. suddenly, harry's broomstick was jerking left and right, similar to what happened with neville's. "what's happening?" julianna asked hermione, shouting over all the noise. "it looks bewitched!" she added as the gryffindor looked through her binoculars, "it's snape! he's jinxing the broom!" "what?!" julianna had a hard time believing snape was trying to kill harry. when hermione went to go "deal with it", the hufflepuff snatched the binoculars from ron to look at where snape was. yep, he was definitely chanting something. then she looked a little higher up and observed quirrell, his eyes weren't moving and his body was jerking back and forth slightly. "something isn't right." julianna muttered to herself as she stopped looking through the binoculars. however, it didn't matter because now harry was back on his broomstick, safe and sound.
gryffindor had won, of course. harry had ended up swallowing the snitch. luckily, there was no rule against that, so no harm was done. the whole crowd, excluding the slytherins, cheered for the young boy, the youngest quidditch player in a century, chanting 'go, go, gryffindor!' over and over again. julianna was happy her friend succeeded in his first game of quidditch ever.
after the game the four of them decided to go see hagrid and tell him about snape bewitching harry's broom. "nonsense! why would snape put a curse on harry's broom?" hagrid asked, "who knows? why was he trying to get past that three-headed dog on halloween?" the half-giant gave them a look, "who told you about fluffy?" "fluffy?" "that thing has a name?" ron and hermione said simultaneously. "of course he's got a name. he's mine. i bought him off an irish feller i met down at the pub last year. then i lent him to dumbledore to guard the..." "yes?" as soon as hagrid realised where this conversation was going to go, he cut himself off.
"shouldn't have said that. no more questions! don't ask anymore questions! that's top secret, that is." he tells the children who huffed, "but hagrid, whatever fluffy's guarding, snape's trying to steal it." "codswallop. professor snape is a hogwarts teacher." hermione stepped forward, "hogwarts teacher or not, i know a spell when i see one. i've read all about them. you've got to keep eye contact, and snape wasn't blinking." her words made julianna remember back to what she saw professor quirrell was doing, "actually, what ab-" "now, you listen to me, all four of you." hagrid interrupted julianna before she could explain what she saw, "you're meddling in things that ought not to be meddled in. it's dangerous." he warned, "what that dog is guarding is strictly betweem professor dumbledore and nicholas flamel." the four looked at each other, "nicholas flamel?" harry asked and hagrid realised he did it again. "i shouldn't have said that. i should not have said that." he muttered as he walked away from them and now the group had a new question, who is nicholas flamel? well, i can tell you julianna could care less, the last thing she wanted to do was die from being stupid.
the next week, it had started snowing. the grounds of hogwarts were covered in snow, even hogwarts itself. everyone was getting ready to go back home for the holidays, everyone except julianna, harry, ron and the rest of the weasleys.
in her purple-maroon scarf, julianna made her way to the great hall. she was surprised to see draco there with his suitcase, holding a tiny box. "merry christmas, draco!" she greeted, incredibly jolly. draco smiles at her cheeriness, "merry christmas, juli." he greets back before handing over the tiny box. julianna stared at it for a while before pointing at herself, "for me?" "yes, it is. why else would i be handing it over to you, candy?" he rolled his eyes and grabbed her hand, placing the box in her hand. "don't open it till christmas day, alright? bye." draco's random rush to leave confused julianna, "wait! i didn't get you anything!" she calls after him and he stops walking, "it's okay, you've already given me enough." "...enough of what?" "headaches- ow!" his joke received a heavy punch from the hufflepuff, "arsehole!" she shouted but the slytherin only smiled smugly, "i'll see you after the holidays, candy." they bid each other goodbye, not without julianna telling him to write to her for if he didn't, he won't ever see the light of day ever again.
she stared smiling at his fading figure before two certain redheads place their hands on her shoulders. "now, what do we have here?" fred and george asked in unison, they were in their weasley jumpers with the letters of their first initial on it. they snatch the tiny box out of julianna's tiny hands. "hey, give it back!" she whined, the two exchange mischievous looks. "why? is it from-" "-someone special?" "what? d'you-" "-fancy malfoy?" julianna's eyebrows furrowed, frowning at the pair. she grabbed the box back and tucked into her pocket. "are you still up for joining us?" "for the merry of christmas pranking?" they wiggled their eyebrows and the hufflepuff smiles before giving them a hearty 'yep'. "also, our mum wanted you to have this." fred handed her a thick, pink, perfectly wrapped present, "ever since we told her about you in our letters, she's been bugging us about giving you a present on christmas." george explained, julianna was touched. their mother has never even met her and still gave her a present for christmas? is she a saint?
"oh, tell her i said thank you so much! i didn't get her one though." the brunette frowned, the twins snort. "please, your thanks is gift enough." "if it makes you feel any better," "you can give her a christmas present next year." they say back and forth before leaving out the great hall. "merry christmas, jules." hermione said from behind her, julianna turned around and saw she had her luggage with her. "merry christmas, 'mione!" they hugged and the girl gives her a gift, "it's not much but you mentioned you liked lanterns a few weeks back and i found this." the gift was a key chain of a lantern, "this is the best part." hermione whispered, taking out her wand and tapping the keychain with it three times. the lantern started to glow and patterns of flowers and vines could be seen on it. julianne was in awe, "thank you! i love it so much!" she gave her a bear hug before taking out a flat package out of her bag, "this is for you. i think you'll like it." she tells her, "i was thinking of getting a book but honestly, i'm pretty sure you've already read everything in existence." the two laughed and decided to go see what harry and ron were up to, seeing as they were sitting at the tables.
they were playing wizard's chess which hermione had deemed barbaric as ron smirked, "that's wizard's chess. i see you've packed." the redhead fired at her, "i see you haven't." hermione fired back, "change of plans. my parents decided to go to romania to visit my brother, charlie. he's studying dragons there." ron explained and hermione crossed her arms. "good. you can help harry, then." julianna looks at them with confusion in her eyes, "help harry with what?" she asked, "he's going to go and look in the library for information on nicholas flamel." "we've looked a hundred times!" ron exclaims at harry, hermione leaned closer to them. "not in the restricted section. happy christmas." and just as she was leaving, ron whispered to harry. "i think we've had a bad influence on her." julianna scoffed, "tell me about it." she said before going back to the subject at hand.
"why are we digging further into this when we really shouldn't?" she asked, taking a seat next to harry. "because we're trying to figure out what was in that vault." he said, "honestly, harry, think you should stay out of trouble." she tells him as ron left to go get something from the kitchen, "i just need to know what snape wants so badly-" "and how do you know it's really snape?" harry sighs, frustrated. "just look at the signs, juli!" "the signs aren't as clear as you make it out to be, harry." she tells him and they both go silent for a while.
julianna held her locket that was attached to her bag in her hand, a locket she's had since a baby. inside contained a photo of her parents, moving and smiling at her, kissing each other's cheeks. "are those your parents?" the boy asked and julianna nodded, "they're dead. i'm assuming you don't know." she smiled, "you're right, i didn't. i'm sorry-" "i never truly understood why people keep saying sorry as if it's their fault they died when it's my parents' own fault." she blankly shared her opinion and harry sat there taken aback. "hey, we have something in common. dead parents." she lightly jokes, smiling. her smile wasn't happy however, it was more morose. harry smiles the same smile, realising they did have something in common, something depressing, but it was something. they began to talk about what it would be like if their parents were still alive, would things be different or the same?
the two talked until ron came back and julianna decided to go back to her common room. there were barely any hufflepuffs who were staying back for their holidays, possibly two or three, but nobody she knew. spending the holidays wasn't unfamiliar to the candy, her grandmother barely tried to celebrate it, not even getting her a gift. julianna still got her grandmother a gift, usually something handmade, but she's never seen her hang the paintings she makes for her, or place the flowers she picked for her in a vase. she doesn't care.
julianna went up to her empty dormitory and grabbed pudding, placing her out of her area. "free roaming time starts now!" she tells the brown kitten, scratch beneath her tiny ear. the kitten mews and used the tiny steps to get up to her bed, finding a comfortable position to sleep in. julianna cracked open herself a new canvas and started painting whatever came to mind.
on christmas day, julianna woke up and went down to the common room that was so empty that if she spoke, it would echo. she sighed, spending christmas eve and day alone, how lovely. she opened up the weasleys' mother's present first, which inside was a baby pink jumper with the letter j on it and some homemade fudge. julianna was so ecstatic, she immediately put the jumper on. it was a little too big but she knew she would grow into it just fine. the next present was neville's, he'd given her a succulent which she had kind of figured since it was given in its pot with a bow wrapped around it. she had gotten a bunch of sweets and candy from ron and harry, even from cedric, hannah and susan.
last present she opened was the one draco had given her, a tiny yellow box with green accents and a silver bow on top. she opened the box and gasped, a pretty silver charm bracelet was laying in the box and a note was stuffed behind the pillow of the jewellery. julianna took out the note and it read:
"thanks for the drawing. my hair actually doesn't look that bad in it. i wasn't going to get you anything but i thought, why not?"
julianna grinned reading the note, she could hear draco's voice as she read it. she folded the note and put it inside her pocket before taking out the charm bracelet and sliding it onto her wrist. like magic, literally, it adjusted its own size to fit julianna's wrist. the charms of the bracelets included a snake, a badger, a flower and a leaf. 'that softy.' she thought, rolling her eyes as she admired the bracelet.
the next day, she grabbed pudding and left the common room with the kitten sitting on her shoulder. she made her way to the great hall for breakfast and along the way, the weasley twins joined her. "pudding is scrumptious-looking." fred says, staring at the brown feline who only mewed. "don't say weird things like that, fred, you'll scare the kitten." george scolds, "don't look too scared to me." fred raises an eyebrow at his brother while julianna only shook her head as they entered the great hall.
everyone had breakfast together, julianna placed pudding on the table and the kitten laid down next to the eggs. julianna noticed harry was off at another table, staring at the fire and sitting by himself. "ronnikins, what's wrong with harry?" she asked the boy who was stuffing his face full, "he's recently discovered something, it's a mirror, and he saw his parents in it. i know that's what he's thinking about- and also, don't call me that! merlin, fred and george are starting to rub off on you." he huffed before going back to his sausages, julianna wiped her mouth. "george, look after pudding for me, would you? i'll be right back." george nods, stroking the kitten's head.
julianna stumbled across the tables and made her way over to the golden boy. "morning, harry." she only received a mumble of 'morning' back, "i heard from ron you've found a mirror? you can see your parents in it?" her mentioning it snaps harry back into reality and he looks at her. he nods, "well, how were they?" "warm, but cold. they looked warm, but i couldn't feel them." he explained, "i look just like my father." he spoke so quietly but julianna could hear it clearly. she understood what he was feeling. "maybe you could take me to see them?" "i can't. i took ron and he couldn't see them. only himself as the quidditch captain, winning the quidditch and house cup." julianna snorts, 'typical ron.' she thought, "well, that's ron, and i'm me, so let's go see the mirror." harry nodded, "but we need to go after curfew." "what?! why?! and how?" the gryffindor then explained how he received an invisiblity cloak from someone but the note was anonymous and that he stumbled upon the mirror when he was running away from filch after sneaking into the restricted section of the library.
"harry, that's dangerous! you could get in serious-" "i know. i don't care." harry's straightforward attitude made julianna annoyed but she ignored it. "fine, we'll meet tonight in the kitchens and then go see the mirror."
when night fell, julianna got out of bed and freely hopped down the stairs. she could make as much noise as she wanted to and that was a gift. she opened the common room door and there stood harry. "hey! where's your cloak?" she asked, harry held it up as if to say 'right here'. the two got underneath it and made their ways through the hallways and corridors to an empty, dark and dusty room. there were desks and chairs stacked up at one side of the wall and on the other side stood the very mirror harry was talking about. julianna moved closer and read the reading on the top of the frame. "erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi..." a bunch of gibberish? wait, no, this wasn't even latin? this made julianna read it backwards. "i show not your face but your hearts desire." she read out loud but harry couldn't take his eyes off his reflection, or his parents.
"do you see them?" he asked her, julianna looked into the mirror but she didn't see harry's parents, she saw her own. "i see..." she trailed off, moving closer. "my parents." her parents were smiling at her, her mother waving at her like how she did in her dreams. her father leaned his head to the side and mouthed 'we love you'. from there, julianna could feel a single tear roll down her cheek as she clenched her locket, her fist turning white. the two of them sat before the mirror for hours, staring at their parents who were somewhat interacting with them.
around 3 o'clock in the morning, another voice was heard. "back again, harry? and you brought julianna along as well, hm?" the two turned around and saw a familiar, long white beard, immediately standing up, scared they were in trouble. "i see that you two, like so many before you have discovered the delights of the mirror of erised. i trust by now you realise what it does." harry shook his head while julianna nodded, "it shows us our hearts desires." she answered, dumbledore eyes twinkled as he walked towards them. "yes. the happiest man on earth would look into the mirror and see only himself exactly as he is." the analogy finally clicks in harry's mind, "so, it shows us what we want, whatever we want." dumbledore clicks his tongue, "yes, and no. it shows us nothing more or less, as ms. candy said, the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts. now, you both, harry and julianna, who have never known your parents, you see them standing beside you." the two look back at the mirror, and their parents were still there, looking back at them.
"but the both of you must remember this. this mirror gives us neither knowledge or truth. man have wasted away in front of it, even gone mad. that is why tomorrow it will be moved to a new home, and i must ask you both not to go looking for it again. it does not do to dwell on dreams," for a moment, dumbledore looked at julianna only. as if he knew about the dreams she constantly had of her parents. "and forget to live." dumbledore warns them and leaves the two alone.
julianna and harry went back to their common rooms and julianna was left to her own thoughts. she sat on the couch near the fire, her parents' faces stuck in her mind. at times like this she wished draco was around so she could distract herself by talking with him but he wasn't there.

IT WAS A cloudy day, cloudier than usual some would say, but the two girls walking along diagon alley paid no mind. both identical, the one with shorter, brown hair was busy dragging her twin sister by her arm towards a display window with a broom in it.
"look, esis! the new nimbus 2000!" she exclaimed, pointing out the sleek, beautifully polished broomstick for her sister. "it's just a broom, lovey." the nonchalant response from 'esis' receives an offended gasp from 'lovey'.
"just a broom, my arse!"
"lovelynn!" her cussing causes their mother to give them a word of warning paired with a threatening glare. lovelynn shrinks, a sheepish smile spreading across her face. "sorry, mum." she apologised as her younger sister, genesis, stifled a giggle.
the heath family were out and about, shopping for the girls' school supplies as they'd receive their hogwarts letter a day before. their mother, irene, was beyond ecstatic and their father, richard, was excited. not just for his daughters but also for the fact it gave him a reason to visit the wizarding world more than usual. "gosh, this is all so fascinating!" he said as he clung to his wife's arm, a giddy smile on his face. irene smiled at his reaction, even after years of being together and her telling him all there is to know about magic, he still acts like a kid in a candy store when surrounded by it.
the youngest and only son of the heath family wore a bored expression. "why do i need to come along again?" 10-year old michael asked, his arms crossed the entire time. "well, why do you need to be such a little snotty brat again- ow!" lovelynn rubbed the area of her arm where her sister pinched her, "because it'll be a good experience for you." genesis tells him, giving his shoulder a light pat.
irene ushered the girls towards her, "now, you two will go get your wands." the golden-haired woman told them, "your brother, dad and i will go get your books. then, we'll be off to go get a pet for the both of you." the hint of getting only one pet makes the older of the twins groan. "we're sharing a pet?" irene grinned, "ever the observer, aren't you, lovey?" she teased her and lovelynn rolled her eyes.
the family separated and made their ways to their respective shops. the twins walked in peaceful silence, not having much to talk about. there were only a few times lovelynn would spark up a conversation about what genesis thought her wand was going to be. "d'you think i'm gonna get a dragon heartstring core or a unicorn hair core?" is something along the lines of what she was asking.
when they reached ollivander's wand shop, lovelynn yanked her sister back by the collar of her dress.
"what?" genesis asked, giving her a questioning look.
"maybe we should take turns. to make the experience more... what's the word? ah! mystical!"
with no answer and only an incredulous expression for a reply, lovelynn took that as a yes and pushed her sister to the door. "you go first!" she told her but genesis pushed herself back. "no!" she exclaimed, "i don't want to do this without you, lovey." her long hair swished behind her as she turned frantically to look at lovelynn.
the older's facial features soften, "you're going to have to do a lot of things without me at some point, 'esis. this could be your first step!" she encouraged, "come now, sister mine. i'll be right here staring at you through this window." well, that definitely wasn't creepy. genesis took a deep breath, nodded and entered the shop.
as lovelynn waited for her sister, she leaned her back against the wall of ollivander's. she took peaks into the store every now and then but opted to stop when she saw absolutely nothing going on every time she looked. unbeknownst to her, every time she looked away, a strong gust of wind flew against genesis' hair or sparks shot around whenever she held certain wands.
with a yawn, lovelynn convinced herself to stay put and not abandon her sister unlike that one time when they were eight.
"alright, you're up." at the sound of genesis' voice, the girl jumps before recovering quickly, excited to head inside. when lovelynn went in, genesis stared at the bag she was carrying that held her wand. thinking back to what ollivander said, "witches and wizards who hold this wand rarely ever sway from their beliefs. do you do so, ms. heath?" she didn't answer his question for some reason, couldn't answer his question. only god knows why.
loud exclaims and 'yahoo's were heard from inside the shop before travelling outside as the door opened. "unicorn hair, cypress wood and ten inches, baby!" lovelynn's noisy announcement attracted some unwanted attention and strange looks from people nearby.
"quiet down, lovelynn. you're so loud, i bet even the house-elves at hogwarts could hear you." genesis complained, grabbing her sister by her arm and dragging her towards flourish & blotts. that was how the day of their shopping went, now, let's get on with the best part.
"ugh! i'm going to miss you guys!" lovelynn hugged her parents and brother as tight as she could before releasing them from her death grip. "we're going to miss you too, lovey." genesis was having a hard time. she had her arms crossed and she had averted her gaze towards the train, praying that her tears wouldn't escape her eyes and slide down her cheek.
her mother smiled, "'esis, come here." she called for her, gesturing to come towards her. genesis reluctantly went, hugging her mum close to her. "i know you're scared, but this is for the better. you'll make new friends at hogwarts, and you'll still come back home for christmas break and at the end of the school year." irene's words of comfort didn't go unheard, but the girl just didn't want to say anything. no goodbyes, no 'i'll miss you's, none of that.
she only gave a silent nod as she pulled away, wiping a tear off her cheek with her sleeve. this gave lovelynn the perfect opportunity.
"aww, don't cry, genessy-"
"don't call me that!" genesis exclaimed, shoving her sister harshly. the two began to squabble but their parents and brother paid no mind, it was a common thing after all. the older twin decided to go on ahead when her younger sister was still stalling so she could stay with her parents longer.
"mum, what if there's dogs?"
"it's hogwarts for goodness sake, not a pet shop. right, ricky?" irene nudged her husband with her elbow who frantically nodded, agreeing with his wife. after a bit more convincing, lovelynn boarded the train.
it seemed that stalling was a mistake, because now she couldn't find her twin sister. the panic started to settle in, what was she going to do? she was all alone, the one thing she's been trying to avoid. not to mention her sister could possibly get expelled before even stepping foot in hogwarts. taking her eighth deep breath for the day, she calmed herself down and walked past all the noisy compartments before finding a quiet one with two boys.
sliding the compartment door, genesis looked between the two. "um, sorry, but could i please sit in here? everywhere else is rather full." at her request, the brown-haired boy with dirty, round spectacles smiled.
"of course, come in." he said as the boy with orange hair moved his stuff so she'd have more space to settle down. "thanks. i'm genesis heath." she introduced herself, "i'm ron weasley!" the redhead said with a cheerful disposition, giving her his hand. genesis shook it with her own hand, "i'm harry..." the one with glasses seemed to trail off, looking unsure if he wanted to tell her his last name.
genesis tilted her head, "just harry?" she asked curiously, "harry potter." the girl's eyes widened, "as in the harry potter? as in the boy who lived?" she questioned, excited she was meeting someone who made history. harry looked somewhat scared at her reaction, she was entirely buzzing with questions, anyone could see it.
however, the long-haired brunette caught herself. "oh- uh, sorry. i've just heard amazing stories about you from my mum and i think you're amazing to have survived what you've gone through." she gushed, beaming at him. harry smiled back, "thanks, but i think it was just luck." he said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"you're lucky, but it can't be just luck, harry. not for the boy who lived." it seems her words struck him in a way, his expression changing to one of deep thought. genesis realised this, "sorry for bringing it up. it wasn't my place." she apologised, feeling as though she might have overstepped some boundaries.
"no, no. it's fine." harry's assurance was cut short when the trolley lady strolled by. "anything from the trolley, dears?" ron gave her a tight-lipped smile before holding up a packed, smushed sandwich. "no, thanks. i'm all set." genesis and harry exchanged looks, "we'll take the lot." he said, fishing out a few gold galleons from his pocket.
and that was the start of the trio's lovely friendship — candy. well, sort of.
"what?!" the two boys exclaimed when genesis declined their offer of sweets and had told them she wasn't the biggest fan of candy. "we let a madwoman in our compartment. we should get out of here, harry." ron joked, making harry let out a small laugh.
genesis only rolled her eyes, "ha-ha, very funny." she simply said, ignoring their jokes. "bertie bott's every flavour beans?" harry read the packaging aloud, "they mean every flavour!" ron exclaimed, "there's chocolate and peppermint, and there's also spinach, liver and tripe." genesis explained, taking a bite of her sandwich that her mum had packed for her.
at the sight of harry's expression, ron spoke up. "george swore he got a bogey-flavoured one once!"
"george?" the girl asked, "my older brother. i've got about six other siblings." the redhead's answer has genesis dumbfounded. "six other siblings? wow. i've only got two other siblings and it already feels cramped. can't imagine how you feel." ron only snorts before taking a bite of his own licorice wand.
"yeah, they're a lot to deal with. especially since my brothers, fred and george, they're twins and they're absolutely troublemaking." the girl's eyes widened, "twins? what a coincidence! i'm a twin, too! my sister's the only troublemaker, however." ron's mouth falls slightly open, "that is a humongous coincidence." he says, slowly taking a bite of his pumpkin pastie.
turning to her right, genesis noticed harry looking isolated. "so, harry, who're you staying with?" well, this opened many doors as the boy started telling her all about his horrific aunt, uncle and cousin.
"they sound horrid."
"yeah, they are." harry said with a sigh, "if you want, you can always come over to bournemouth and stay with my family. they're quite welcoming." genesis offered, taking a sip from her water bottle. "too welcoming..." she quietly added, but they both caught it and chuckled.
"thanks, gen. i'll think about your offer." the boy smiled, picking up a packaging of a chocolate frog.
"these aren't real frogs, are they?"
"it's just a spell. besides, it's the cards you want! each pack's got a famous witch or wizard. i've got about 500 m'self." ron explained as harry opened the box. a chocolate frog sprung out of its confinements, jumping onto the window.
"watch it!" ron exclaimed, furrowing his eyebrows. "awh, look how cute!" genesis gushed, grinning at the magical creature.
"speak for yourself, frogs give me the ick."
"well, now you give me the ick, weasley." she joked, ron only rolled his eyes as the three watched the frog jump out the window. "oh, that's rotten luck. they've only got one good jump in them to begin with." the redhead commented, frowning.
genesis looked at harry, "what card d'you get, harry?" the girl asked him as his face contorted. "i've got dumbledore!" he told them, overjoyed.
"i got about six o' him." harry looked at ron before looking back at his card, shocked to see the old wizard was gone.
"hey, he's gone!"
"well, you can't expect him to hang around all day, can you?" genesis only shook her head at their conversation, too busy staring at the rat on ron's lap. ron notices her looking, "this is scabbers by the way. pathetic, isn't he?" harry and genesis exchange looks once more, "just a little bit." genesis smiled, "fred gave me a spell as to turn him yellow. want to see?" ron's question makes the two curious and interested, agreeing to see the spell.
the boy pulled out his wand and as he was clearing his throat, about to say the magic words, a girl with brown, bushy hair popped by their door.
"has anyone seen a toad? a boy named neville's lost one." she told them, ron only frowned.
"no."
"oh, are you doing magic?" the girl asked when she saw his wand, "let's see, then." she told him, sounding a bit cocky. with that, ron attempted it once more. "sunshine, daisies, butter mellow..." at the sound of the first sentence of the spell, genesis could already tell ron's brother, fred, was clearly messing with him.
when scabbers didn't turn yellow, obviously, the bushy-haired girl scoffed. "are you sure that's a real spell? well, it's not very good, is it?" her words make ron's eyes widen towards harry and genesis, who only observed their exchange with amused expressions.
the girl continued to boast about her own abilities in magic, even though she hasn't even stepped foot on hogwarts yet, even displaying it by fixing up harry's glasses. that's when she realised who he was and introduced herself as hermione granger.
she turned to genesis, "i'm genesis heath. nice to meet you." hermione smiled at her, shaking the hand she held out. "you three better change into your robes. i expect we'll be arriving soon." and with that, hermione granger left, not without telling ron about the dirt on the side of his nose.
"i like her." genesis stated when she left, a huge grin on her face.
"i don't." ron grumbled, rubbing his nose rather harshly. harry and genesis giggle as they watch him. genesis' panic and anxiety seemed to calm, she'd already make two friends, she'll be fine.
❥ evermore | chapter two
pairing: george weasley x oc genre: friends to lovers! warnings: unedited word count: 2.1k masterlist: evermore last chapter: chapter one next chapter: chapter three
THE JOURNEY FROM the train station to hogwarts was a first experience nobody could ever repeat. genesis was having the time of her life admiring the scenery as she rode in a boat with her sister, hermione and the boy who had lost his toad named neville longbottom.
yes, you read right. she found her sister at last.
walking through the main entrance, which was a door five times their size, they were told to walk up the main staircase until they reached the great hall. there they would meet professor mcgonagall, and meet they did.
“welcome to hogwarts.” the witch draped in green robes with a pointy hat placed atop her head, presumably professor mcgonagall, greeted the group of first years with a small smile. “now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates but before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. they are gryffindor, hufflepuff, ravenclaw and slytherin.” as the professor continued her explanation, genesis glanced downwards to the ground.
she squinted her eyes, spotting something dark and glistening on the ground. when it started to move, genesis realised what it was. she gave neville’s elbow a light tap, “neville, isn’t that your toad?” she quietly asked, pointing at the creature.
neville’s eyes widened and he leapt forward just as mcgonagall finished talking. “trevor!” he exclaimed, kneeling on the ground, cradling the amphibian in his hands. as the boy stood up, he apologised before retreating back to his original spot next to the blue-eyed girl.
with that, the professor left to finish preparing the sorting ceremony for them. lovelynn could barely contain her excitement.
“ugh, i wanna go in already! it’s taking too long!”
“lovey, it’s been 30 seconds since she’s left.”
“yeah! 30 seconds of my life wasted when it could have been spent getting sorted into my house!” genesis could only roll her eyes at her sister’s dramatics.
suddenly, a boy with platinum blonde hair spoke up. “it's true then, what they're saying on the train.” he started, walking towards harry. “harry potter has come to hogwarts.” the boy’s simple sentence has the entire group of first year students bursting into murmurs and gasps.
“this is crabbe and goyle, and i’m malfoy. draco malfoy.” the random pause for dramatic effect has both ron and lovelynn snorting, stifling their laughter.
malfoy looked between the two, “think my name’s funny, do you?” he asked, sending them glares. “i’ve no need to ask yours. red hair, and a hand-me-down robe? you must be a weasley.” the blonde sneered at ron, who only frowned at him. “hey, now. there’s no need for aggression.” genesis spoke up but malfoy only snapped his head at her.
“i wasn’t speaking to you.” at his comment, the girl raised her hands as if to say ‘alright, i surrender, geez.’ as the boy turned back towards harry, who wasn’t enjoying this one bit.
“we’ll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, potter. you don’t want to go making friends with the wrong sort.” malfoy said, referring to ron. “i can help you there.” harry only stared at the blonde’s extended hand before deciding that he was the wrong sort.
“i think i can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks.” the two’s conversation was cut short by professor mcgonagall coming back, eyeing malfoy as he walked back to his original spot but not without giving harry a sort-of determined look, a look that would prove to be one that would follow the scar-headed boy for the rest of his years in hogwarts, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
the first years walked into the great hall, lined up in pairs of two. genesis walked beside hermione as lovelynn walked beside neville.
the bushy-haired girl noticed genesis staring up at the ceiling, mesmerised at the floating candles and night sky- wait, night sky? “it’s not real, the ceiling, it’s just bewitched to look like the night sky.” hermione explained, “i’ve read about it in-” “hogwarts: a history?” genesis asked, cutting her off. the girl looked taken aback for a moment before giving her a wide smile, “so, you’ve read it, huh?” genesis grinned, answering with a ‘possibly’.
the group gathered along the platform as a wizard’s hat on a stool was before them.
“now, before we begin, professor dumbledore would like to say a few words.” these few notices would consist of few notices such as staying out of the dark forest (which applies to all students), and the fact that the third floor corridor is out of bounds to anyone who does not wish to die a most painful death.
lovelynn grumbled, “talk about a warm welcome.” she snorted to neville, who only stared at her with a confused expression.
as the headmaster finished his tiny speech, professor mcgonagall unravelled a scroll. “now, when i call your name, you will come forth. i shall place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses.” genesis took a deep breath, it was finally time.
with each person getting called, the more nervous the brunette got. especially when her sister was called and sorted into, predictably, gryffindor.
“yes!” lovelynn exclaimed, almost accidentally dashing off with the sorting hat still attached to her head. she sat between neville and a boy named seamus finnigan.
“genesis heath.” hearing her name being called had her heart plummeting to the pit of her stomach.
she slowly walked up the platform, trying her best to keep her breathing steady and quiet. “another heath in a row? how quaint.” the hat started it’s judgement.
“the quieter one, the one easier to pick on, but nonetheless, the one who stands her ground. the one who is bolder and firm, the one who will live on to do great things. things that could change our world. i find it a bit peculiar to place you in ravenclaw, especially apart from your sister whom you seem inseparable from. i guess i’ll put you in gryffindor!” the sigh of relief that left genesis’ lips was only a big clue to the obvious, she was happy to just be sorted into the same house as her sister.
as she walked towards the table, lovelynn stood up again and wrapped her in a big hug. “we’re together! and now there’s like three sets of twins in this house.” she told her with a big grin, finding the random fact amusing.
genesis had gone to sit beside hermione and lovelynn had decided to sit beside her sister and neville longbottom.
after a few minutes of waiting and watching harry potter get sorted(into gryffindor, no surprise) the feast had begun.
genesis wasn’t particularly hungry since she was still feeling rather anxious.
“come on, now. you’ve got to eat something. you’re going to complain later that you’re starving.” lovelynn told her, muffled by the food in her mouth. the girl stared at her with disgust. “i was going to eat something but now that i’ve looked at you, i’ve lost my appetite.” genesis’ comment has ron’s older twin brothers snickering.
the two turned to them and then to ron, “don’t mind them. they find everything humorous.” he said with his cheeks stuffed.
“i’m ron weasley, by the way. i met your sister on the train.” he said to the other twin, “i’m lovelynn heath! nice to meet you, ron.” her enthusiasm makes ron baffled, as she was completely different from her sister.
the weasley twins smiled at them, “i’m fred,” “and i’m george.” they introduced themselves continuously, lovelynn beamed at that.
with a gasp, “we should try doing tha-” “no.” genesis turned her down without even thinking twice. her immediate answer has lovelynn pouting, “you’re no fun.” she complained, “i’m lovelynn, this is genesis. she’s the lesser fun twin.” the short-haired twin emphasised on the word ‘lesser’. “yes. yes, i am.” genesis agreed with a toothy smile, having no problem with the insult.
fred and george chuckles, “well, then, i think you’d fit great with us.” “we’re the most fun pair of twins.” “more like the most getting into trouble pair of twins.” ron’s other older brother, percy, butts in, making lovelynn giggle and genesis smile.
as the dinner went on, ron let out a loud yelp as a ghostly figure’s head popped through their table.
“hello! how are you? welcome to gryffindor!” and after him, came more ghosts from around the hall, or you could say through the hall.
genesis beamed at the sight, “ghosts?! kind of scary.” lovelynn commented, “they aren’t that scary. they aren’t suppose to be hostile.” her twin informed, george turned to look at her. “well, if you don’t count peeves that is.” fred said just as he was about to speak, “peeves is more trouble than we are, though the bloody baron can always keep him in check.” george explained, taking a bite out of his garlic bread.
“hello, sir nicholas. have a nice summer?” percy asked the ghost head that popped through their table, “dismal. once again my request to join the headless hunt has been denied.” he told the boy in an unsatisfied tone before slowly floating away.
genesis’ eyes slowly widened in realisation, “wait a minute, i know you! you’re-” “nearly headless nick!” ron yelled out, cutting the girl off. “i prefer sir nicholas if you don’t mind.” sir nicholas sassed, the annoyance extremely clear on his features. “who?” lovelynn asked, mouth filled with food once more.
“sir nicholas de mimsy-porpington.” her younger sister’s reply has her staring with a blank expression.
“my god, you’re a walking enclopyedia.”
genesis scoffed, “you asked.” she replied back.
“nearly headless? how can you be nearly headless?” hermione’s question has harry rolling his eyes and genesis cringing due to knowing exactly how he’s nearly headless. “like this.” sir nicholas proceeded to tilt his head to the side before it suddenly popped off, hanging onto his body only by a little bit of flesh. ron yelled out in shock as hermione and harry grimaced. the twins only stared, completely indifferent and taking bites out of their food.
“improper decapitation certainly is the worst.” genesis sighed and shook her head while sir nicholas popped his head back on. “it certainly is, ms. heath.” he agreed before taking his leave.
lovelynn shivered, “that is not something you want to see while eating.” she muttered, suddenly not in the mood for her minced pie. “i have no idea what you’re talking about. i am suddenly starving.” genesis grinned, stealing her sister’s minced pie before taking a huge bite from it.
after dinner, the first years were all set to follow percy to their common room. lovelynn stared at the moving staircases with incredulity. “if they move all the time, how do we know when it’ll lead to the place we want to go?” she whispered to her sister, “schedules.” genesis simply answered, staring at the moving paintings they passed by. the older only stared at her weirdly, not understanding what she meant by ‘schedules’.
when they reached their common room with the usage of their password ‘caput draconis’, they headed straight for their dorms. genesis was relieved to know she’d be sharing a dorm room with her sister and hermione, people she was familiar with. their other dormmates were lavender brown and emma joyce.
“genny, look who it is!” lovelynn exclaimed loudly, pointing her attention to something that sat on her bed. not only did ‘genny’ turn to look but all the girls did, and they were greeted with the delightful sight of the twins’ cream-coloured, fluffy maine coone kitten, carlyle(who didn’t look like a kitten at all since maine coones grew very quickly).
“oh my stars! carlyle!” genesis cried out, approaching the well-groomed kitten and giving him a pat. “aw, he’s adorable.” hermione complimented, smiling at the sight. “he is, isn’t he? he’s also apparently allowed to roam hogwarts on his own which is nice for him since he enjoys watching people study.” genesis explained, lovelynn snorted before leaning towards the other girls. “guess how we found out about that.” she muttered, gesturing to the fact that carlyle started accompanying genesis during her long nights of going through her hogwarts books and has been hooked on watching people read or study ever since.
the girls had decided to wash up and hurry off to bed, figuring they had a long day ahead of them tomorrow and that it was best they slept early.
lovelynn was the only one to disagree but was the first to start snoring off into dream land, leaving genesis to stare at her sister with a look of utter disbelief and endearment.

IN THE MORNING, the first person to wake up was hermione, no surprises here. though, not long after she awoken, genesis was up and running.
“good morning, hermione.”
“good morning, genesis.” the two girls greeted each other with well-meaning smiles, brushing their teeth side-by-side.
slowly, the other girls woke up as well except for… “lovelynn!” genesis yelled into her ear, causing her sister to shoot up from bed.
“hospital!”
“no, we’re at hogwarts. why are you dreaming about hospitals?” lovelynn only groaned in response, falling back into her bed.
“fi’ mo’ minute…” she slurred, still incredibly sleepy.
genesis rolled her eyes, “fine. don’t blame me when you’re late to breakfast and ultimately, class.” she nagged, fixing up her sister’s things on her bedside table. lovelynn sighed before rubbing her eyes and sitting back up. “fine.” and with that she got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready.
afterwards, the short-haired brunette felt much more awake than before. “woo! first day of hogwarts! i’m so pumped!” she exclaimed as her, genesis and hermione walked to the great hall. “what are you guys most excited for?” hermione asked, “definitely defense against the dark arts. though, i don’t know how fun it’ll be with that professor we have. he has a stutter right?” lovelynn asked and they nodded, “i’m looking forward to history of magic.” “boooring!” genesis glared at lovelynn’s response, “rude.” she simply stated but her sister could care less.
“there’s so many other interesting subjects and you choose history of magic? really?” genesis paid no more attention to her, not wanting to feel annoyed immediately before even stepping foot into their first class. hermione and lovelynn continued to talk about school and other things such as quidditch(which hermione had no interest in but lovelynn was rather ecstatic about it).
going into the great hall, the three girls sat at the front of the table and started filling their plates with eggs, sausages and toast. anyone could see the first years were extremely excited as they chatted away about their lessons once more.
when they mentioned history of magic, fred and george snorted.
“professor binns teaches that class.” “absolutely boring rubbish.” genesis furrowed her eyebrows, “are you saying the topics are boring or the teacher?” her question has fred snickering. “well, i’d have to say both.” she fought back the urge to roll her eyes at him since she was hoping for a general, actual answer.
george noticed her disgruntled reaction. “but, professor binns is honestly the problem. he’s a ghost and well, he talks extremely slow and is extremely boring.” genesis nodded and smiled at him, “i see. thanks for the heads up.” she said, appreciating that he gave her a legitimate answer.
the younger weasley twin only stared at her with his mouth slightly ajar, seemingly distracted before his brother patted him on the shoulder.
“always helping out the young ones aren’t we, george?” “right you are, fred.” lovelynn rolled her eyes playfully at their antics and they all continued to have breakfast. genesis was a bit weirded out as she noticed ron and harry hadn’t turned up at all even after it was time for classes to start. she wondered where they might’ve been.
once they reached transfigurations and the two boys were still nowhere in sight, genesis had concluded they’d slept in.
“boy, if they come in here late professor mcgonagall’s definitely gonna tell ‘em off.” lovelynn whispered to her sister who was unwrapping her leather strap on her books to place them on the table. “well, they should’ve woke up earlier then.” she simply shrugged as professor mcgonagall begun her transfigurations class.
after 15 minutes, the two boys rushed into the classroom, happy to see that mcgonagall was not there. unbeknownst to them, she was the cat that was sat on the desk at the front of the class.
once they’d written many, many notes, the professor had finally given them something to transfigure. they had to turn a match into a needle, and by the end of the lesson, it seemed only hermione and genesis were able to do exactly that while lovelynn had somehow lit hers on fire.
“ms. heath!” mcgonagall exclaimed, a warning tone laced in her voice. she put out the flames before they could spread and gave lovelynn a look to which she responded with a sheepish grin.
she huffed as the class finally ended and it was time for them to head to potions.
“that was horrible.”
“how did you even set the match on fire?”
“i don’t know… might be because i picked it up and slid it across the table.” genesis deadpanned at her sister’s reply, rolling her eyes.
when they reached potions, the twins had decided to take a seat between harry potter and hermione granger.
the potions classroom was dark and cold, probably due to the fact it was placed deep into the dungeons of the hogwarts castle. it felt eerie and made genesis a bit anxious. on the other hand, the older of the pair was having a field day staring at the numerous jars on the shelves lining the walls filled with disgusting and interesting looking things.
“how many galleons do you wanna bet that those are the body parts of former hogwarts students?”
“none. absolutely none, you psychopath.” genesis stared at her with an incredulous expression, feeling even more uneasy. just as they were talking, the potions professor stormed into the classroom.
“there will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class.” professor severus snape began as he made his way to his desk. “as such, i don’t expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. however, for those select few,” he quickly glances at draco malfoy, “who possess the predisposition.”
genesis stared at him with wide eyes, he was extremely intimidating. she had spotted him during the feast last night and what with having distinct features like greasy-looking black hair and a hooked nose, she definitely remembered him.
“i can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. i can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death.” genesis wasn’t going to lie, with the way he was talking she couldn’t help but hang on each and every word he was saying while lovelynn was trying her best to hold back a yawn.
“then again, maybe some of you have to hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not pay attention.” with the professor raising his voice and staring at the student beside her, lovelynn realised he was talking about harry who was writing.
she nudged his shoulder with her own to signal him to stop and he immediately did so. “mr potter — our new celebrity.” and from this moment on, everything went rather south. professor snape continuously questioned the boy who lived things that he had no idea about whilst hermione raised her hand so high up it was almost like she could touch the ceiling. genesis felt so bad for him that she almost decided to speak up before her sister held her hand underneath the table and used their twin telepathy, practically telling her not to do that.
the lesson resumed as normal after snape interrogated harry, made everyone take notes and took five points away from gryffindor house. they were put into pairs and tasked with brewing a simple potion to cure boils.
lovelynn and genesis automatically paired up together, seeing as lovelynn would do nothing and allow her sister to do all the work. though, when snape passed by he didn’t seem quite happy with how one-sided the work was being done and so he switched them up and paired genesis with seamus finnigan instead while lovelynn was stuck with neville longbottom.
“i hate him.” the older twin whispered under her breath as she crushed snake fangs.
genesis seemed even more stressed with seamus as her partner than lovelynn because he was, to put it in a simple way, all over the place.
“no- seamus, this is supposed to be at least 20 grams.” she softly told him which only made him even more annoyed. “fine, you do it then.” he scoffed, handing her the dried nettles. then, there was a loud commotion over at lovelynn and neville’s cauldron. neville had melted their cauldron into a twisted blob that spilled onto the stoney floor as everyone was forced to climb up on their chairs to avoid being burnt.
“idiot boy!” snape yelled at neville who was groaning in pain as red boils start appearing on his skin, “heath, take him up to the hospital wing.” he told lovelynn who silently groaned before grabbing onto neville’s arm. “come on, longbottom.” she urged, giving her sister a look that said ‘save me’ as she passed by.
after the class had ended, genesis rushed out of the classroom to go find the hospital wing to see her sister.
just as she entered through the doors, she bumped into someone familiar. “hello, stranger.” lovelynn playfully greeted, genesis rolled her eyes.
“hi. how’s neville doing?”
“longbottom’ll be fine. madam pomfrey shooed me away though.” lovelynn explained as they made their way to their next period.
when it was time for their free period, they sat at the gryffindor table in the great hall. “how do we already have tons of homework? it’s literally the first day!” genesis shook her head at her sister’s complaining, “what were you expecting? candy?” she asked as she wrote her essay on a long piece of parchment. the weasley twins and their friend, lee jordan, were sitting opposite of them with their own load of work.
“let me guess, the homework’s from snape?” george asked, putting his quill down.
“he always gives us tons, we just don’t do them.” fred added, fiddling with his paper and not paying attention to his school work whatsoever.
genesis let out a chuckle, “don’t think you have that option, lovey. mum would be livid if she heard you weren’t doing school work just because you don’t want to.” lovelynn tsked and laid her head on a pile of books.
“she doesn’t have to know.”
“oh, but she will, because i’ll tell her.”
“you are such a mommy’s girl, esis.” a bright red hue spreads across genesis’ face at lovelynn’s words before she smacked her with rolled parchment. “ow!” she exclaimed, laughing.
soon enough, the mail had arrived. “oh, look! there’s ivory!” the older heath twin announced, pointing out an ivory-coloured barn owl that was flying into the hall. their owl dropped a package with a letter attached to it.
genesis ripped the letter off it while lovelynn pawed at the package. genesis opened up the letter and quickly summarised it to her sister.
“mum and dad sends their best wishes and says that michael is having the best time with us out of the house.”
“that little brat!” lovelynn hissed and scowled thinking about their little brother as she unwrapped the package. when she opened it, it revealed a potted cactus plant. “looks like dad’s garden is growing well.” she observed the tiny, prickly plantae. out of the siblings, lovelynn adored plants the most and it was something she bonded over with their dad.
“hey, look! neville’s got a remembrall!” dean thomas pointed out as neville held up a glass ball decorated with golden lines. “i’ve read about those! when the smoke turns red, it means you’ve forgotten about something.” hermione explained as the ball did exactly that, signalling neville has indeed forgotten something.
“that’s pretty cool.” lovelynn comments as she looked at neville who was sat beside her. “the only problem is i can’t remember what i’ve forgotten.” neville told them with a frown, staring at the red smoke. lovelynn patted him on the back, “i’m sure it’ll come to you eventually, nevs. don’t fret about it too much.” she reassured with a smile and he nodded before placing the glass ball into his pocket.
lovelynn then changed the subject to flying on a broom and for the first years they had compulsory flying lessons. when thursday rolled by, they were out on the field standing beside brooms with madam hooch as their instructor.
genesis had a horrible feeling about flying. she didn’t feel good about being high in the sky with the chance of falling to her doom.
“stick your right hand over the broom, and say ‘up’.” with madam hooches instructions, they all began to enact on them. harry was one of the first people to get his broom to listen to him immediately. lovelynn stared at him with envy as her broom wasn’t budging one bit. genesis wasn’t even trying, scared the broom would smack her in the face.
“the broom isn’t going to smack you, just try it!” lovelynn said as she held her broom in her hand. just as she said that, ron’s had practically punched him in the nose. “...nevermind.” lovelynn quietly muttered, grinning at ron.
at some point they’d all got their brooms to fly up to their hands and were now forced to mount it and kick off into the air.
“on my whistle. three, two—” as madam hooch blew her whistle, neville’s broom immediately floated off the ground without him doing anything. everyone urged him to come back down, but he himself was confused and had no idea what to do. lovelynn tried to grab onto the end of his broom to pull him back down but it was no use, the broom wouldn’t budge.
soon enough, neville was being flailed everywhere, going up and down and around buildings as he gripped tightly to his broom for dear life. when he finally fell, everyone could only stare at him.
“everyone out of the way!” madam hooch yelled as she rushed to him to check for any injuries.
“i hope he’s okay.”
“longbottom’s strong, he’ll be fine.” lovelynn told genesis as they peered over the crowd to see what was happening. she sighed before turning her head when something shiny caught her eye. neville’s remembrall had fallen out of his pocket and landed on the grass. just as lovelynn was about to pick it up, draco malfoy had swooped in and snatched it off the ground. she glared at him but he only smirked at her.
“everyone’s to keep their feet firmly on the ground while i take mr. longbottom to the hospital wing, understand? if i see a single broom in the air, the one riding it will find themselves out of hogwarts before they can say quidditch.” as madam hooch walked away, malfoy rubbed the remembrall on his robe.
“d’you see his face, the great lump.”
“shut it, malfoy.” lovelynn hissed but he only smirked. “sticking up for longbottom, are you? never thought you’d like fat little crybabies, heath.” she swore she could feel a vein popping out of her forehead. “well, that’s better than a great, big bully such as yourself, malfoy.” genesis chimed in, defending her sister. “if you want to talk big, we should continue talking about longbottom.” the slytherin held up neville’s remembrall, “maybe if the fat lump had given this a squeeze he’d remember to fall on his fat arse.” malfoy’s words has the twins seething with even more anger, “give-” “give it here, malfoy!” harry said, cutting off lovelynn who now moved aside to see how this confrontation would go.
“no. i think i’ll leave it somewhere for longbottom to find.” the blonde retorted, throwing the remembrall in the air before catching it again. he stepped onto his broom and floated away, “how about on the roof?” he suggested, flying up towards the sky.
“what’s the matter potter? bit beyond your reach?”
as harry mounted his broom to try and chase after malfoy, hermione stopped him. “harry, no way! you heard what madam hooch sai-” “who cares?! get him harry!” lovelynn interrupted her, “what? no! harry, you don’t even know how to fly.” genesis butted in, “don’t encourage him, lovelynn!” as the twins bickered, harry rolled his eyes before kicking off the ground. hermione and genesis’ mouths fell open, absolutely flabbergasted while lovelynn cheered him on. they shook their heads muttering one word:
“idiots.”
the two boys flew around for a while before malfoy had threw the remembrall extremely far, making harry zoom past him to catch the glass ball. when malfoy came back down from his broom, lovelynn pushed him to the ground. “jerk!” she yelled before genesis pulled her back, “hey, violence isn’t the answer, lovey.” she reminded her sister as malfoy got back up, dusting his robes with a big scowl on his face.
“you’re lucky i’m willing to look past this and not inform my father, heath.” lovelynn only stared at him before bursting out laughing. “you- you’re going to run off and tell daddy? oh, that is priceless!” she exclaimed, falling onto genesis who tried her best to hold her weight.
they didn’t think draco malfoy’s face could get any more sour.

NO SURPRISE, HARRY obviously succeeded in catching neville’s remembrall.
“good job, potter!” lovelynn exclaimed, beaming at him as everyone crowded around the boy who lived. malfoy watched with a big scowl decorating his face but it changed to a smug grin when he saw professor mcgonagall approaching the group.
“harry potter?” mcgonagall called out, “professor, it wasn’t his fault-” “that’s enough, ms. heath.” she cut lovelynn off as the girl tried to defend harry. “follow me.” mcgonagall gestured to harry who was holding back a sigh. before leaving he handed the remembrall over to lovelynn. “hand this over to neville, will you?” she smiled, “no problem. consider it done.” he returned her smile, reluctantly walking towards the transfigurations professor.
genesis frowned, “d’you think he’ll get into trouble?” she asked ron who wore the same expression as her. “i don’t know, but mcgonagall calling for him doesn’t really give us much hope.” he huffed, leaning onto his broomstick.
when madam hooch came back they resumed the lesson and afterwards, lovelynn left made her way to the hospital wing. “don’t wait up for me!” she told her sister as she waved her goodbye. genesis clutched her books tightly to her chest, she guessed she could just stick with ron and wait for harry to come back and tell them how he’s expelled.
“a seeker?!” boy, expelled was the farthest thing from it.
“but first years never make the house team!” ron exclaimed as they walked through the crowded halls, “you must be the youngest seeker in-” “a century! according to mcgonagall.” genesis gave harry a look when he cut her off but he only sheepishly smiled, clearly just as excited as they were.
“hey! well done, harry! wood’s just told us.” a sudden voice beside them says, genesis looked in the direction of the noise and saw one of the weasley twins. “fred and george are on the team too. beaters.” ron informed, and the twins beam. “our job is to make sure you don’t get bloodied up too bad. can’t make any promises, of course, rough game quidditch.” george explained, glancing over at genesis who was struggling keeping up with them, having to take twice the steps they took.
“brutal! but no one’s died in years. someone will vanish occasionally-” “but they’ll turn up in a month or two!” the twins snickered to themselves as they saw harry looking a little pale. “can you two stop it? you’re scaring him for no reason.” genesis scolded but they only started snickering harder.
“anyways, we’re sure to win the quidditch cup this year.” fred mentioned, “we haven’t won since charlie left, but this year’s team is going to be brilliant. you must be good, harry. wood was almost skipping when he told us.” george beamed, looking extremely motivated.
“anyways, we’ve got to go. lee jordan reckons he’s found a new secret passageway out of the school.”
“bet it’s the one behind the statue of gregory the smarmy that we found in our first week.”
“isn’t that sort of breaking the rules?” george smiled at genesis, “well, it’s sort of breaking the rules if someone finds out about it.” he said lowly, leaning over to her before winking. “see you.” the twins said in unison as they walked off, leaving the three first years.
they walked to the courtyard. “don’t listen to them, harry. about all that people dying stuff.” the girl said, patting him on the shoulder. “yeah, quidditch is great! best game there is, you’ll be great too.” ron added, trying to reassure him.
“but i’ve never even played quidditch, what if i make a fool out of myself?”
“you won’t make a fool of yourself.” they whipped their heads to the new voice beside them and only one of them were happy to see it was hermione.
“it’s in your blood.” with the newfound information, the four of them headed to another corridor that had a trophy case decorating it. in that trophy case there was an award with the name ‘james potter’ and ‘seeker’ below it.
ron stared in awe, “woah. harry, you never told me your father was a seeker too!” genesis shook her head at his words, ‘how would he know?’ she thought, ‘he’s lived with muggles his entire life.’ genesis was holding back a facepalm. “i… didn’t know.” harry softly muttered, staring at the award longingly.
“you didn’t know what?” they all jumped at the loud noise but lovelynn only grinned. “sorry, did i scare you?” she asked, obviously knowing the answer for herself.
“that harry’s father was a seeker and now he’s being asked to be a seeker for gryffindor house as well.” at genesis’ explanation, lovelynn’s mouth falls open so wide that a bird could fly into it. “what?! a seek-” she got cut off with shushes from all of them, “people aren’t supposed to know. don’t tell anyone, lovelynn.” genesis nagged, “but this is so exciting! well done, potter! malfoy’s going to be real pissed when he finds out.” the older twin cheered as quietly as she could, slapping harry hard on the back as a congrats.
the heath twins departed from the trio as they decided to head to the great hall.
“so, how was neville doing? his wrist alright?”
“oh, he was doing great. madam pomfrey seemed a bit annoyed to see him again so soon.” they discussed as they walked past a group of hufflepuffs. “seemed a bit red, though. when i handed him his remembrall, he started stammering all over the place.” she said with a weirded out expression, but genesis only smiled.
before they knew it, halloween rolled around.
“charms is sooo boring.”
“you said that about like, four other subjects.” genesis said, listening to her sister’s consistent complaints as they walked towards their charms class.
“yeah.” lovelynn simply answered, not having much to argue about.
when the class started, professor flitwick had informed them they would finally be making things float. “finally, something interesting.” genesis pinched lovelynn, when she heard her complaining once more, who yelped quietly in pain. again, the twins were paired up together for practice.
“now, don’t forget that nice wrist movement we’ve been practising; swish and flick! ooh! and enunciate, wingardium leviosa. off you go then.”
lovelynn grabbed her wand and cleared her throat, “wingardium leviosa!” she exclaimed, swishing and flicking her wand but the feather didn’t budge. “nevermind. this is still boring.” lovelynn bluntly said, giving up almost immediately.
“hey, no. try again. you can’t give up that easy.”
“yes, i can. i just did.” genesis sighed in exasperation, trying to do the spell as well.
suddenly, they saw a feather floating up to the ceiling from hermione and ron’s table. “oh, ho, ho! well done! see here, everyone, ms. granger’s done it! splendid!” professor flitwick cheerfully announced, but ron looked extremely annoyed.
not even a minute later, an explosion was heard and you can guess where that came from.
“he can’t go two minutes without blowing something up, can he?” lovelynn asked as she walked alongside her sister and out of the classroom.
“maybe it’s just rotten luck.”
“hah, more like a rotten curse- hey!” hermione pushed past the two of them with her head down. genesis swore she heard her sniffling. lovelynn stared at the bushy-haired girl weirdly, “what’s up with her?” she asked, “i don’t know, but maybe we should go after her.” genesis suggested and lovelynn groaned, “you can go. i’m heading back to the common room and taking a nap before the halloween feast tonight.” the younger twin shook her head but agreed anyway, quickly running after hermione.
genesis had tried to follow hermione but she had lost her at some point. she looked for her all afternoon and until night came. she would be missing the halloween feast but at this point, she was more worried about hermione’s whereabouts. when she entered the girl’s lavatory, the sounds of hermione crying echoed throughout the room.
genesis walked towards the stall she was in, “h-hermione? i’ve been looking for you all afternoon. are you alright?” she asked but received no response.
“please come out. you can talk to me.”
“go away. why would you want to listen to whatever i have to say?”
genesis furrowed her eyebrows and her lips morphed into a deeper frown. “well, we’re friends, aren’t we?” she hesitantly asked, unsure if she should because if she had mistaken hermione as her friend, well, that would be one more embarrassing thing to add to her list of goof-ups.
hermione went silent for a bit, only the sounds of her sniffling were heard.
“after charms, i heard ron call me a nightmare and say that was the reason i had no friends.” her words make genesis’ mouth fall ajar, “that little-” she muttered quietly before cutting herself off, “don’t listen to ron. he’s an idiot, hermione. you aren’t a nightmare.” genesis told her through the door, leaning on it. the girl didn’t say anything back, probably unconvinced.
“you do have friends, hermione. i’m your friend, and so is neville. maybe not many, but i’ll be here for you whenever you need, you can count on me.” genesis waited but there was still no reply, but there was the sound of the door unlocking.
hermione came out of the stall with tear-stained cheeks and red eyes, wiping them with her hands. genesis smiled at her and embraced her in a hug, leaving hermione to muster up a smile herself.
“thanks.” she said when they pulled away, “no problem.” genesis replied, patting her on the back.
meanwhile, the feast was going swell. a variety of treats were lined along the tables, and everyone was bursting with joy.
harry looked beside him and noticed someone missing. “where’s hermione?” he asked them and neville turned to him. “parvati patil said she’s been in the girl’s bathroom all afternoon, crying.” he explained with a frown, harry shared a look with ron who only shrugged.
george looked around and furrowed his eyebrows.
“genesis is missing as well?”
“oh, she went to go find hermione after charms class because she noticed her crying. i’m guessing she’s with hermione in the lavatory right now. don’t know why they’ve been in there all afternoon, though.” lovelynn explained as she took a bite out of her pumpkin pie. ron looked especially guilty now.
suddenly, professor quirrel entered the hall in a panic, screaming about a troll in the dungeon.
chaos reigned and everyone was screaming and standing up to start running. with a few sparks flying out of dumbledore’s wand, the great hall went silent.
“prefects will lead their house back to their dormitories and teachers will follow me to the dungeons.” lovelynn couldn’t follow these directions! her sister was in the girl’s toilet and had no idea about the supposed troll in the dungeon. when the gryffindors made their way through a door, she grabbed harry and ron by the collars and pulled them aside.
“wha-”
“hermione and genesis have no idea about the troll! we can’t just leave them.” she told them and harry nodded while ron looked pale, terrified of what would happen if they came face-to-face with a troll.
the three of them rushed to the other side of the corridor that led to the girl’s bathroom but on the way, something caused them to stop.
“i think the troll’s left the dungeon…” ron muttered as they watched a humongous shadow move on the wall of the hallway. harry pulled both of them to the side to hide behind a wall, trying to peer at it. they watched the troll sluggishly walk straight towards-
“the girl’s bathroom!” lovelynn exclaimed, “it’s heading straight for the girl’s bathroom!” she took out her wand and slipped past harry and ron despite their constant whisper-shoutings of ‘no’. she chased after the beast with the two boys trailing behind her, all of them light as a cat so as to not make any sound and attract the troll.
in the girl’s lavatory, hermione was just washing her face as genesis leaned against a stoney wall.
“do you think we missed the feast?” she asked her, fantasising about anything coated in chocolate. hermione laughed as she grabbed a tissue, “i’m sure the feast’s still going on, we won’t miss it.” she reassured but froze when she turned to genesis’ direction.
genesis stared at her with a raised eyebrow, “what is it?” hermione slowly lifted her hand to point behind her. the girl turned around only to get shocked by a twelve foot tall troll. the two of them backed away slowly before hermione darted into one of the bathroom stalls and genesis opted for laying on the ground as the troll swung its club.
“what do we do?!” genesis asked her as she tried her best to run to the other side, “i don’t know!” hermione yelled back before screaming as the troll destroyed all the stalls with one swing.
genesis tried to think as she pulled out her wand but then the bathroom door swung open and harry, ron and lovelyn appeared.
“hermione, move!” harry told her and she started army-crawling her way underneath the half-broken walls of the stalls. lovelynn ducked as she ran past the troll and towards her twin sister. “are you alright?” she asked, “yeah, you guys are here just in time! did you call a teacher?” when a sheepish smile spread across lovelynn’s face, genesis knew the answer to her question.
“one job!” she screamed at her as the boys started throwing broken wooden planks at the troll’s head. hermione suddenly ran towards them and yanked them underneath the row of sinks.
“why are we hiding here?!” genesis continued to shriek, “i don’t know! i’m panicking!” hermione cried out before screaming and pushing them to the next sink when the troll tried to hit them with its club again.
“help!” hermione yelled at the two boys who were entirely clueless on what to do. harry pulled out his wand and charged towards it, grabbing the end of its weapon before ultimately getting swung onto the troll’s neck. in the middle of its confusion and swinging around to get harry off of its neck, lovelynn grabbed both hermione and genesis and made a run for it.
they reached ron but now harry was upside down, being held by the leg and was desperately trying to avoid getting destroyed by the club.
“do something!” harry yelled, ron looked around him.
“what?!”
“anything!”
ron pulled out his wand, thinking about the levitation charm they practised earlier today. “swish and flick!” hermione reminded him for the last time and he nodded, looking determined.
“wingardium leviosa!” at his words, the troll’s club hovered above them, confusing the beast as it looked at its now empty hand. when it looked up, ron released his spell and the club fell on its head causing him to fall, completely knocked out.
genesis and hermione sighed in relief while lovelynn punched the air, “let’s go, weasley!” she yelled, shaking him back and forth.
hermione walked towards it slowly with caution, “is it… dead?” she asked, tilting her head.
“i don’t think so. just knocked out.” harry told her before kneeling down to retrieve his wand that got stuck in the troll’s nose while he was hanging on its neck. the five of them stare at it with disgust.
“ugh, troll bogies.” harry grimaced, looking at the slime-covered wand.
the sudden sound of rushing footsteps filled their ears and soon enough, professor mcgonagall, professor snape and professor quirrel arrived.
“oh! oh my goodness!” mcgonagall exclaimed, placing a hand on her heart. “explain yourselves! all of you!” she referred to harry, ron and lovelynn mostly. as the three of them tried their best to come up with an explanation, hermione cut them off.
“it’s my fault, professor mcgonagall.” she said, making all of them snap their heads at her.
“what are you doing?” genesis whispered to her but she didn’t say anything in reply.
“i went looking for the troll. i’ve read about them and thought i could handle it.” the other four shared bizarre looks with one another. the hermione granger? lying to a teacher? who disrupted the timeline?
“but i was wrong. if harry, ron, lovelynn and genesis hadn’t found me…” genesis furrowed her eyebrows, “i’d probably be dead.” she really didn’t think she had to lie for genesis as well since she was with her the entire time but hermione seemed extremely adamant on this.
“be that as it may, it was an extremely foolish thing to do. i would have expected more rational behaviour on your part and i am very disappointed in you ms. granger.” mcgonagall said, “five points will be taken from gryffindor for your serious lack of judgement.” hermione only stared at the ground in shame, most probably for lying. the professor then turned to the other four, “as for you four, well, i hope you just realise how fortunate you are. not many first year students can take on a fully grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale.” ron and lovelynn smiled at each other, pretty happy about where this was going. “five points…” their smiles faded, “will be awarded to each of you.” but then came back again, beaming.
“for sheer dumb luck.” professor mcgonagall added before walking away with snape trailing after her. professor quirrel urged them all to leave before the troll awoken.
as they all walked down the corridor, lovelynn stretched. “ah, that was fun.” her words cause the red-head of the group to give her an incredulous look.
“‘fun’?! that was the farthest thing from fun!” he yelled, absolutely red in the face.
“but you got to defeat that mountain troll!”
“barely!”
“hey, lets just be grateful none of us got seriously injured.” genesis scolded, still carrying her books from the morning.
they all went silent for a while until harry spoke up. “good of you to get us out of trouble like that.”
“mind you we did save her life.”
“mind you she might not have needed saving if you hadn’t insulted her.” harry’s comeback has ron feeling a little bit guilty before turning to hermione.
“what are friends for?” he said, receiving a grin from the bushy-haired girl and a scowl from the girl next to her.
“genesis, let it go.” hermione told her when she saw her face, genesis only sighed. “as long as you’re okay, i’ll let it go.” lovelynn suddenly squealed, “aww, my wittle essy is making fwiends!” she said in a baby-like voice as she squished her sister’s cheeks together. genesis shoved her off in annoyance, rubbing her face. “shut it.” she hissed making everyone giggle.
when they reached the common room, it was extremely packed. everyone was continuing their dinners from the feast before. from the corner of his eye, george spotted the group but he really only cared about one of them.
“hey, i was wondering where you were when you didn’t turn up for the feast.” he said as he came up to genesis, a pink hue colouring his cheeks. genesis eyes went wide for a moment, “you noticed i wasn’t there?” she asked, “well, yeah. it was all you talked about for the last week.” he said with a laughing scoff at the end, smiling from ear to ear. she felt her face grow hot from the sudden undivided attention from him.
the other four stared at the two, three looking amused and one looking rather annoyed.
“i’m his brother, why didn’t he notice i was missing from the common room just now?” he whispered to them, “maybe because his mind was a little preoccupied with someone else.” lovelynn retorted, smiling smugly.
they all continued their dinners respectively. harry, ron and hermione sat together in a corner in silent peace. lovelynn and genesis had decided to join george, fred and lee jordan.
“a mountain troll! imagine! you guys’ little brother defeated a mountain troll.” lee exclaimed after lovelynn had told him the entire story. genesis was a bit disapproving of her telling but it was bound to spread somehow, someway.
“we always knew he had it in him!”
“it may have had something to do with when fred turned his teddy into a spider when he was three.” genesis stared at fred incredulously, “that’s awfully mean.” she frowned as she took a bite out of her garlic bread. “hey, he broke my toy broomstick first.” “he was only three!” she countered, slightly choking on her bread.
fred rolled his eyes, “what’s your point?” he asked as lovelynn let out a giggle, “she’s just empathetic when it comes to children. when our little brother started crying after i hit him even though he hit me first, she immediately coddled him.” the three of them stared at her weirdly, “isn’t your brother a year younger than the two of you?” “yep.” she nonchalantly answered, “it happened when he was seven and we were eight.” she explained and genesis rolled her eyes.
“oh, please. he hits so soft, and you hit him back with a full punch!”
“it was still a hit!”
“you were being dramatic!” they argued once more, something they did frequently in private and public.
lee laughed, “you know, you two are nothing like fred and george. i honestly expected all twins to be constantly attached to the hip.” he stated, taking a sip out of his goblet.
“well, we are. mostly she’s attached to mine, but we just argue a lot i guess. might be because of how different we are.”
“definitely because of how different we are.” genesis commented, snorting. lovelynn tsked before throwing a pea at her.
“don’t waste food!”
“oh, i didn’t know mum was here now!”
“excuse me?!”
and the arguing continued into the wee hours of the night, even when everyone went to bed, because how could they not?

Wrong tie | Mattheo Riddle
summary: y/n noticed a little too late what tie she is wearing.. explains the dirty looks her house gave her
warnings: language, y/n wearing the false tie, flirting, gryffindor!Reader
note: English is not my first language, have fun 🫶🏻
You woke up in a complete haze. You couldn‘t even open your eyes as the sun hit you right in the face through the open curtains.
Damn what time is it? You streched your arms over the other side of the bed and took your alarm clock in your hands. While rubbing your eyes and yawning you took a look at it and shoot up from the bed.
" Fuck fuck fuck!" As fast as you could you got out of bed, seeing that your classes start in 5 minutes.
You had been awake all night long with your boyfriend Mattheo. You sneak in his room at night due to his room alone. Harry borrowed you his invisibility cloak from time to time and every morning before class you would sneek back to your common room.
You put on your clothes and noticed that you don‘t have any books with you but you wouldn‘t get to your class on time if you‘d go back to get them. Then you remembered that you have the first class with your best friends Hermione, Harry and Ron.
You took your cloak and hurried to class, you fold it together and put in your bag. You got into the room, looking at all student, then at your teacher Professor Slughorn. " I‘m sorry Mr. Slughorn, it won‘t happen again." " Oh it‘s alright, dear.. " he looked at you confused for a second. " just sit down and open your books. " he kindly said.
Walking towards the place you shared with your friends you noticed how your house looked at you like you just killed somebody in front of the whole class.
You sat down beside Hermione, who looked at you with wide eyes. Slughorn started the lesson and you whispered " What is it? Do I have something on my face?" She shook her head. " No, uhm.. it‘s more about what‘s under your face." " Huh? "
At the same time some piece of paper landed in front of you. You looked around you and saw Mattheo, smiling devilish at you. You opened the piece of paper and read: " Nice tie baby, let‘s try it on your wrists tonight. - M.R. "
Oh no. You looked down at yourself, eyes wide open as you realised that you took one of your boyfriends tie‘s in a hurry this morning. " Oh my god Hermione, how should I explain this? " " Uhm, you could say that you switched it at the quiddish game in the cabin? "
You turned your head to mattheo seeing him winking at you and biting his lips playfully. Rolling your eyes you still couldn‘t hide your smile.
The things is, beside Mattheo‘s friends and your friends, nobody knew about you two. Both of you wanted to wait a little and just do your thing, without people talking about you all the time. I mean they already did but just because they know you are "friends". Imagine them talking about you If they knew you both were offical dating.
At first Harry was thinking that he used you to come near him and help his father, but he saw the way he looked at you from across the room. Hermione was understanding, even tho she wasn‘t the biggest fan too. But If you‘re happy they are happy. Ron took it badly. He was furious, told you you are a traitor for dating the son of the one who tried to kill them that often, but soon he realised too that you two were madly in love. What did not mean that he wouldn‘t gag sometimes If he heard you kissing in front of them.
A whistle came from the other side of the room. " ey y/n, why don‘t you come sit with us now what you‘re one of us huh?" Draco laughed. You showed him your middle finger and turned back, taking your tie off.
" Damn baby." It slipped right out of Mattheo‘s mouth. Everybody turned around and looked at him. The room went quit and waited for an answer.
" What? Can‘t I think my best friend is hot ? Now turn the fuck back around. " You giggled and shook your head.
What a start for a day.

The First Meeting||Harry Potter
- Me desculpa mesmo…

The bet || Harry Potter
Pairing: Fred Weasley and George Weasley x Platonic/Reader (Tiny not so tiny George Weasley x Reader)
Summary: You had a normal life at Hogwarts, until the Weasley twins decided they weren't going to leave you alone anymore, and what was the reason? You would give five galleons to anyone who knew the answer.
Word Count: 4,0k
It was still early, I was walking through the corridors towards the Great Hall when two red-haired figures appeared in my sight.
"Hey Y/N!", one of them waved cheerfully at me, I still had no idea which one. "Why do you suddenly look tall today?", the other said with a smile, which made me want to punch him.
"Why are you suddenly more annoying today? It sounds like a serious illness, so excuse me, I don't want to catch this", I walked as fast as I could so they couldn't keep up with me.
I could hear their laughter behind me and the whispering but decided not to pay attention to what was said, that would bring me more calmness.
And why do I basically run away from them? It is very simple.
One day I was just another Ravenclaw student, and the next day I had the attention of the most popular twins at Hogwarts.
They liked to tease me about absolutely everything, no matter if I was just sitting down reading or trying to concentrate in a class, one of them would find a way to annoy me.
I never tried to differentiate which was Fred and which was George, it made no difference, they both seemed equally annoying to me and knowing who is who was not going to guarantee me anything.
"Hey, wait. We have a deal for you", the tallest of them spoke with a grin plastered on his face as he walked up to me in stride.
"And why should I agree? Anything coming from you guys is pretty suspicious", I replied with my eyes screwed tight and crossed my arms.
"Because you can have your quiet time again, we won't tease you anymore as far as possible", the other said with a small smile and I stopped to think for a few seconds.
"Well, that sounds good enough, and what do I have to do? You're going to have to get something out of this, obviously", I still remained in the same position analyzing the two, who seemed to be enjoying themselves more every second.
"You'll have to guess who is who at the end of the day", one of them started and my face dropped at the same moment."Since we're nice, we'll just say it once", the other added.
"What if I don't succeed then? If there's a prank, I'm out."
"There won't be anything out of the ordinary, just an extra dose of us", I took a deep breath just imagining what my life would be like with these two following me around the castle. "So are you going to accept or not?", he raised an eyebrow.
I took a deep breath and looked away, a good opportunity had fallen into my hands but I would have the rest of my peace lost if I didn't win, which would be no small thing but a part of me was just screaming to accept it at once, the competitive part, the part that was going to win this little challenge.
"I accept, it won't be that hard", I replied with a smile, a wave of confidence built up inside me and I really thought it wouldn't be a problem at all.
"Okay then", they just walked past me and kept walking and if I could see my forehead, a big question mark would be hanging there, "Hey? You still have to tell me which is which, it was part of the deal", I said, taking a few steps behind them but they soon stopped and looked at me.
"Oh, you're so confident, do you really need us to tell you who's who?", I clenched my hands tightly to hold back the urge to kill him.
"Of course I don't need to but... HEY!It's not polite to leave a person talking alone", they had the audacity to walk off and wave at me on top of that.
7:30 a.m.
I wasn't going to get any help from them, why did I expect to get any? Obviously they don't want me to win but I will and they will have to swallow that. That's my new goal today, screw the herbology paper.
But now it would be more difficult, few people would know the difference, I would have to ask one of his friends or one of the other Weasleys who studied at Hogwarts.
I wasn't intimate with any of them but I had classes with some, we never spoke but I will change that today.
I just hope they actually tell me something useful, one of the twins could have easily told no one to help me and made everything even more difficult.
8:25 a.m
"Hey Kate, what's up?", I said with a smile just as she was about to pass me down the hall, it was really worth it to eat fast or I wouldn't have made it in time.
The expression on her face already told me everything, the same gleam in her eye that twins have when they are disturbing me, why do I get the impression that it won't be so easy?
"Good morning Y/N, do you need anything?", she said leaning against the wall with a mischievous smile that I chose to ignore. "Actually yes, you should already know, the Weasleys challenged me to set them apart and you as a friend should know how, anything is useful, anything really", I liked that she was direct because I could be too. I don't like wasting time with small talk, especially when I don’t have too much time.
"They actually told me it would happen, but they didn't tell me more details, what happens if you lose? Some kind of prank I bet.
"They will annoy me twice as much as they already do, I don't know how you manage to be friends with them, she stared at me for a few seconds and then grinned. "What?"
"I'll help you since you're asking me but maybe you'll soon see that it wouldn't be so bad to lose", I just nodded without really believing it would happen. "Fred is louder and generally more annoying, George is quieter and more careful. You can find out more by noticing for yourself, I'm going to get going, I want to practice a little before class begins", she pointed to the castle entrance.
"Thank you so much Kate, I'll owe you this one. See you later", I smiled and waved as she walked away from me after waving as well.
Now I know the basics but they might try to trick me, switch places or pretend to be the other one. I have to be prepared and there is only one way.
9:00 a.m
The bell rang and the halls filled with heads hurrying not to be late, especially the poor first year students heading for the dungeon. I could see some shaking on the way out of the Great Hall but my destination was completely different, I headed up the stairs along with the other forty years to Minerva's class.
There was no sign of any of the twins, if they had decided to skip this class my plan was destined to fail.
The class was about to start when the two of them entered without any hurry and I smiled internally for having kept an empty chair next to me, just in case.
"Are you gentlemen having a problem with your audition? The bell rang five minutes ago. This kind of behavior is not tolerated, Mr. Weasleys. Minus ten points for Gryffindor", her angry voice boomed, and no one seated dared to breathe.
"It won't happen again, professor", I was surprised not to hear any funny remarks as a comment and I'm sure she was too but didn't show it.
"Sit down and open your books, let's move one more step forward from yesterday's lesson...", she continued talking but I barely paid attention after one of them sat down next to me.
"So, you're George, you can tell me now that I already know", he looked a little surprised for a few seconds but soon regained his posture.
"How did you guess it? I didn't even say anything", he said looking at me intently and I just shrugged, I wasn't about to say since this is clearly a plus for me.
"That's a secret that will stay with me, it wasn't that hard", I commented, dipping my quill into the ink to start writing what Minerva was going over on the blackboard.
Behind us it was possible to hear Fred's excited whispers that I had learned to ignore after all these years. Now it seemed so much easier, it's not as if I hadn't noticed them both all this time, it's a bit impossible since they make themselves present everywhere.
We remained silent, since this is the only way I can concentrate. I even mentally thanked him for that, but it didn't seem to do any good today. My attention kept being drawn to the red-headed boy next to me, I couldn't help it.
Internally I blamed it on my will to win, because to do so I would have to pay more attention to him, that's all my body wanted to do, focus on George Weasley.
I only realized that I was crossing the line when I noticed that his cheeks started to take on a reddish tint and a shy little smile appeared. To make matters worse, there was Fred's giggles, who was watching everything with the best view; there was no way I could get away with this.
After this awkward moment, I forced myself to pay attention even though my desire was to get out of there, since he now decided to start watching me not as discreetly as he thought he was being. I was much better at that.
"Is there a problem?", I mustered up the courage to ask when it was already 15 minutes before the bell rang again.
I noticed him bite his lips and crack a small smile before looking forward again, "why would there be a problem?"
"You were looking at me", I answered quietly so as not to draw attention from the other students and especially from Minerva who was passing between the desks checking to see if everyone was practicing the spells correctly.
"You were looking at me before that, discretion is not your specialty, you know?", I was a few seconds without knowing how to answer that and in the meantime, I could see him savoring the fact that he had left me speechless.
"Yes, I was watching you to differentiate you better from your brother, and why were you looking at me?", I spoke in a direct tone looking him straight in the eyes and the other redhead's laughter sounded behind us and George gave him a nonchalant look, as did the woman, who had just passed us.
"Is something wrong Mr. Weasley?", she asked and of course, everyone around us had to pay attention too, because they had nothing else interesting to do.
"No, I just remembered a joke I heard, I could tell you if you want. I assure you it is very funny", he assured holding back the urge to laugh even harder.
"Your little jokes stay outside the room Mr. Weasley, and you all, if you haven't perfected today's transfiguration can get back to work", she caught everyone's attention and continued walking peacefully.
We ended up getting distracted from the main subject, he obviously took the chance of not answering me and just kept on training as I did.
12:00 a.m
We had the next 3 classes together and I stayed close to them and their friends as well. As I imagined everyone was very nice to me, we could have become friends much sooner if we weren't stuck in a fixed group of friends.
Some things had become much clearer in my head and others even more blurred. They didn't seem to be picking on anyone but me, although it hadn't happened all day. Then why? I was going to find out.
"Will you come sit with us today?", Katie said with an arm around Angelina's shoulders, both looking at me with a smile that wouldn't let me deny them anything.
"Sure, I'd love to. It's kind of funny that we have more things in common than I expected", I remarked as we walked slowly, with the hasty crowd in front of us. I would usually be with them but it's much better this way, time is not as important as catching up with everyone.
"I had no idea you liked quidditch, have you thought about joining the Ravenclaw team?", Angel, as she asked to be called, inquired and at that moment, I should but I didn't notice her gaze leave me and go to the twins, several times.
"I'm not as good at playing as I am at watching, so I prefer to stay in the stands", I replied with a small smile until I noticed everyone in that small group communicating with their eyes, which I chose to ignore.
"So Angeli, since when did you start playing?", I started the subject that was going to last throughout the entire lunch hour and it couldn't be better.
Everyone had some story to tell, I must admit that Fred's and George's were the funniest. At no time was there any kind of awkward silence, or a moment when I was not included in the conversation. I did notice that some of my classmates were surprised that I sat there, but in general they were looking at us because of the noise. Their special talent was talking, which I found refreshing since I could hear more and talk occasionally.
The worst part of it was that I ended up not paying as much attention to either George or Fred as I had planned, although now I know a little more about both of them and my new friends.
3:00 p.m.
After two classes of Aritmancia, I had a free period and many homework assignments to do and as I walked to the library, a familiar voice called out to me.
"Y/N!", I turned around and was faced with George and his broom near the stairs, not so far from me, "We are going to practice a little, do you want to come too?", I was about to say no, as I was already busy but then I remembered, I still had to guess who was who at the end of the day.
I had really forgotten and started to enjoy their company, I had to remind myself that I wanted to win and that it made perfect sense to spend some more time with him, if it meant that I could guarantee it. Or at least, I tried to convince myself of that.
"Sure, who else will be training?", I asked as I walked over to him and then we walked together to the castle entrance and towards the field. "Just Angelina and Fred, the others have classes or something to do," and I just nodded in agreement.
We hadn't spent any time alone since Transfiguration class and I didn't know what to say, as did he but I didn't feel uncomfortable, just lost in my own thoughts.
"You came to watch half the best quadribol team play today. You won't regret it," Fred was the first to speak up as soon as we arrived and I could only laugh, how could one person be so confident? I needed some tips.
"My expectations are higher than you Weasley, you better not let me down after that speech," I wasn't trying to be funny but I heard a chuckle come from the redhead next to me. "You're not out of it George, none of you. But remember, no pressure. I'm only going to judge a little bit," I said smirking, not really taking any of the words I said seriously.
"Go sit down and prepare to be impressed," the black haired girl gave the last words, grabbed her own broom and flew to the three right hoops as I hurried to the stands.
Luckily, I didn't miss much and less than 5 minutes later, I could tell with certainty how good the three were. They took turns as goalkeepers for Angelina, even though it wasn't really their position in the game. And after 15 minutes, the dynamic changed for the two of them to try to hit her, one at a time, for them to practice as beaters.
But honestly, I paid much less attention than I normally do. I couldn't tell them apart from so far away, and this realization made me face the shameless excuse I had created for myself. I just wanted to be there, and the reason for that I wouldn't say out loud.
More than 30 minutes later, the three of them instead of landing on the ground, came flying towards me and stopped by my side.
"So you can talk about how impressed you are now", I pretended to think for a few seconds and the indignation on his face was so funny I almost didn't say it but after such an arduous training like that, they deserved it.
"You guys were amazing, if someone from another house could watch the official training sessions I would really come to see more", I smiled and it was extremely adorable to see George's already red face redden even more after my compliment.
"You already know you can't watch the official practices, we are finally starting to understand each other", Fred said and took a step to hug me and I immediately took one back. "You're soaking wet Fred Weasley, don't even think about it. This is not the time for hugs".
"But I think it's a good idea sweetie, you can't hide from a Weasley, so just accept it", he said with an evil grin on his face and I was ready to run, I hated sweat especially when it wasn't mine but his long legs came into action once again.
"That's the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced, so you have something to be proud of after all", I complained, pulling away seconds after he had cornered me in the hug, which wouldn't have been so bad if it had been any other time.
"If that's the grossest one, you really don't know what's waiting for you honey. This is just the beginning," Angel said with a satisfied smile on his face. "But we better go now, I need a shower and we still have one last class today," she added and flew out of there after waving to us.
"Yeah, I need to take a shower too, I'll see you guys later," Fred said before getting out of there as quickly as possible, leaving me alone with George again.
"Well, do you want a ride? It's much quicker to get down that way," he smiled slightly at me and I agreed without a second thought.
I held his bare arm, because I thought it was better than hugging him and regret appeared immediately because I always had some issues with flying. It wasn't the worst thing in the world but it was far from being one of my favorites.
All I could do was close my eyes as we crossed the field, my hands automatically closed around his arm, the weather was windy and I could feel the shivers that went through his now red skin as well as mine.
It was a few seconds if I'm really honest but it didn't feel like it to me, I've never picked up a broom other than for classes and it's been a long time since I stopped having fun in those classes.
I was brought out of my thoughts when I felt my feet on the ground again.
"I'll see you later then, I haven't forgotten about the bet. You better be prepared," he gave me a beautiful smile and the consequences of that is the only thing I wasn't prepared for.
5:00 p.m.
There are those moments when you have to stop and ask yourself, what the hell is happening to me? For countless reasons obviously, and it was my turn. I didn't come up with any answers that made me blind to reality, which was really frustrating because that way it would be easier for me to just ignore.
But nobody told me it was going to be easy, which is a shame because I would have someone to blame.
All this played out in my head before I received an owl from them, telling me that I could go to the Gryffindor common room to finish our bet, along with the password for the day. I was prepared after being warned by basically all their friends, all I could think of on the way there were some spells, mainly revenge because I wouldn't let it go if there really was a prank.
But what happened was quite different, the place was quieter than I imagined, although they had many people sitting and talking normally including Fred and George.
"Oh hello stranger, you have finally decided to give us the honor of your presence, I can say for everyone, we are all grateful," I had barely stepped into the room when Fred spoke up with the most sarcastic smile I have ever seen, should I be confused?
"If I get all this reception every time I come here, I will definitely come back more often. Thank you, I feel very welcome," I said with an equally big smile, causing him to roll his eyes.
"Okay smartass, it's time for your answer," he continued speaking, the same voice but now that I was close, in front of them, I noticed that there was something very wrong there.
"Why are you talking like that George?", was my only thought, they were imitating each other, the voice was extremely similar, I could never tell the difference just by that, but looking at him, it is impossible to be mistaken.
Their expression dropped on the spot and I realized that there were more people watching me and maybe they knew the plan, because everyone was a little shocked too, was it that simple?
"That's impossible, who was the snitch that told you? Whoever it was, you're going to have a tough future," Fred even stood up and didn't bother to do another voice, he spoke and I was sure I won.
"Nobody told me, I didn't need much to realize that you guys were faking it. He spent the whole conversation scratching his arm, it's been like that all day," I pointed to George who had not taken his eyes off my person so far.
At that moment they looked at each other for a few seconds and then back at me. I should be happy but I wasn't. Even if I wasn't going to admit it out loud, they just proved to me how amazing they are and I wasn't going to lose that.
"Now that I've won, I want to change my reward. It's very simple, I want to reverse the reward and the punishment. I want an extra dose of Weasleys," I had to get a certain amount of shyness out of the way to say this but it was worth it.
It was worth it because I could see a sparkle in both of their eyes that went beyond a successful prank, it was worth it because I had the best years at Hogwarts with the best friends I could ever want. It was worth it because I found the best boyfriend in the world that day. I never thought I would be so grateful for a silly bet.
