This is probably only because I was doing research on him last night, but a teenage Hermes appeared to me in my dreams last night to do nothing more than show me why he is one of the Gods of sports and gymnastics. Hermes is the exhausted traveler who spent almost a full twenty four hours traveling from one place to the next. He drags his feet along the floor as he lugs his overstuffed suitcase of souvenirs behind him then immediately perks up when he sees the time and rushes to make his next flight.
Hermes is the excited tourist who struggled to save thousands of dollars for the chance to visit another country that they've admired for so long. He zips around from place to place, stopping to take photos of the gorgeous sights he may never see again, and he dives in head first at any opportunity to participate in or witness cultural traditions.
Hermes is the newly-wed groom who enthusiastically jumped on his flight with his spouse for his first honeymoon. He tenderly holds hands with his lover, resting their heads on one another, as they both stare, wide-eyed, at a strikingly clear sky populated with glistening stars and makes a wish as he mistakes a satellite for a comet.
Hermes is the single father who desperately needed a vacation but couldn't find a babysitter in time. He smiles contently as he lounges on a beach chair, soaking up the sun, and watches his two girls pretending to be sea monsters in the ocean's waters a few feet away.
Hermes is the college frat boy who travelled to the beach a couple cities away for his spring break vacation. Hermes is the fragile old man who finally got the chance to return to his home country after years of having no choice but to live abroad. He smiles nostalgically at the small town he grew up in, sipping at a cup of coffee as he sits in an old café he used to visit often, admiring the scenery and feeling torn about how much things have changed in his absence.
Hermes is the anxious student who managed to get an opportunity studying abroad with their school. He nervously examines the map of the metro lines and stations, attempting to catch a metro back to his temporary housing after a full day of wandering the city and being too afraid to ask a stranger for directions.
Hermes is the young boy who took his first plane ride alone to visit his dad after the separation. He shyly converses with the nice lady seated next to him on the plane, sharing very little information but enjoying the company regardless.
Hermes takes the form of all travellers. His spirit journeys with us as we travel by plane, car, bus, or train. He waits in line for the metro ticket by our sides, he rocks out to our favorite songs with us in our cars, he squeezes our hands during the turbulence on the plane, he stares out the bus window with us as we listen to headphones.
Hermes is the spirit of The Traveller, and on every trip we take, every journey we embark on, every first step on the road of life, he wishes us safe travels.
I ask for Apollo for a similar reason to you - he's the first god I started worshipping so it feels sort of empty if I leave him out of tarot readings. I also ask for Hermes because he's concerned with communication so I find Tarot readings are a lot easier when I ask for his help. If the question has a specific theme I might ask for other deities too - e.g. study-related I'll ask Athene or lgbtq related I'll ask Dionysus. I've been meaning to start asking for father Zeus' help but he's very intimdating so I don't do that just yet - maybe later lol.

I mainly ask for Lord Apollon as he’s the first god I ever worshipped so I started doing tarot with his guidance, and Lady Asteria seeing as I’m attempting to become a devotee of hers and she has a strong connection to divination

This sounds like a "walk into a bar" joke but this is just my household at 1:30 AM.
The intimacy of worship.
There’s something about walking through isles of a store and finding something that reminds you of your god. Or sitting down to write pages full of words detailing your love for them, giving them praises, talking about how they’ve helped you or how they’ve impacted your life. As a god, a friend, lover, sibling, or parental figure. Creating things in honor of them, dedicating pieces of art, finding silly things you just *know* they’d find hilarious, or helping others find their way to them just like you did.
Or finding them in everything you do.
I think about Hermes every time I’m writing, I think about Aphrodite every time I look in the mirror and bring myself to admire what I see, or how I think deeply about the type of love and devotion I’d want, my mind strays to Eros and Psyche. When I see and feel how much I hate certain emotions of mine, I think about how they can be expressed in healthy ways, and how I can lean on Dionysus and Ares without fear or judgement. When I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, I think about our sun gods, and when the moon takes her rightful place in the sky, I think about our lovely moon goddesses. When a thunderstorm happens, I know I can say a bright hello to Zeus. When I’m doing house work with a frown, I know I can think of Hestia to make it a little less tiresome. When I’m clawing my eyes out because I can’t sleep, I know Hypnos will be by my side to make sure I can get a few restful hours.
They’re in everything. Every part of life that you wish to see them in, and I think that’s beautiful.
