Imagine: Darcy walking in on you dancing in the kitchen
~
Galway Girl blasted through your earbuds as you held your phone and jumped effortlessly around the room to the tune of the song. Singing off-key and mumbling the words you didn't know, you danced your way over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle. You turned around and slammed the door once the beat dropped and pretended to use the bottle of water as a microphone for a couple of seconds. Your loose T-shirt bounced with your terrible rhythm.
Turning up the volume, you mouthed the words and danced sloppily around the kitchen. The song changed to one that didn't fit in with the mood you were in at the moment. So, you placed the water bottle on the counter and searched your playlist for a different one.
That's when a little giggle was heard throughout the room. You froze in your spot, the annoying song being paused as you gulped audibly in embarrassment.
You looked up to see your girlfriend of approximately one month holding a hand to her pink-tinted face. Gosh, how much more adorable it would've been if you didn't just make a huge fool out of yourself.
"Hey…" you dragged out your words along with one of your earbuds. "Hey," she just smiled playfully at you, like you didn't actually just ruin your entire reputation of being the tough Sword agent.
"How much did you happen to see?" You sheepishly asked, the smile on your face telling its own story. "Everything." She tilted her head as she made her way across the room to you.
Being on the other side of the counter, you dropped your face into your hands and mumbled something incoherent. "I'm sorry what was that?" Darcy giggled again, her hands sliding their way up your bare arms, tickling you slightly. "That was embarrassing," you looked back up at her, hands covering your mouth like a mask.
She ran her hands up to cup your face gently. "I thought it was adorable," You sighed and clasped your hands with hers, making your way around the rest of the kitchen counter.
You looked into each other's eyes for a moment before you both burst out into laughter.
Your noses pressed against each other as you classed lips. It was childish and small but the butterflies in her stomach wouldn't leave so it didn't matter.
Foreheads pressed against each other like your noses previously were, you leant in for another small kiss. This one was more soft and meaningful than the last. You felt Darcy smile and couldn't help but giggle back, both your grin plastered faces crashing into each other as an attempt for a third kiss.
You both finally pulled away from that silly excuse of a make-out session, Darcy's head burrowing into the crook of your neck. Her red lipstick probably stained more than just your lips now, but you didn't care.
Maybe now would be a good time for that slow song you weren't in the mood for earlier.

(Not only was Loki/Jane something I never knew I needed, but this work serves as an argument for Darcy and Thor being the best BFF pairing I’ve ever seen. Loki, Thor, Darcy, Jane and a smattering of Avengers are perfectly in character against the backdrop of adjusting to daily life in New Mexico. This work has all the best parts of the Odinsons integrating into modern American culture mixed with tension between Jane’s (well represented) indomitable will/passion for scientific inquiry and Loki’s desperate need to regain his abilities, AND the brothers re-examining their lives/relationship. So much real struggle/angst with so much heart...and happiness that these characters don’t often get. Did I mention that it’s beautifully written? Because it is. Oh, and lots of sex....lots.)
“ Odin sees fit to banish both of his sons for their transgressions in Jotunheim. Now Jane has a new research assistant and Darcy's got those pets she always wanted. What could possibly go wrong? (Drabble series that grew without the author's permission. Now complete.)”

Relationships: Loki/Jane Foster
Short, bittersweet story pitting Jane’s tenacity and intelligence against Loki’s nature at the end of the world. Beautiful and heartbreaking. The author writes exactly as much as is needed to tell the story - absolutely perfect.
““Jane Foster.” He can’t hide the incredulity. Thor’s woman, come to trouble his last moments.“

Relationships: Loki/Jane Foster
One of the most compelling elements of relationships between Loki and Jane is how utterly bound to their respective natures each character is, and the pitting of that determination and cleverness against one another as each pursues their own goals. The author shows that even in the afterlife, this is still true. Melancholy, like most Lokane tend to be, but with a glimmer of hope (because of Jane’s ability to think her way through any situation!). Fantastic writing, interesting story setting, well portrayed characters - sex! Everything one could hope for!
“Unlike most people, who just stayed dead – some in fields of pleasure and others punishment – Jane's name was down for getting reborn every time. She didn't know what she'd done to deserve that dubious honor, alongside the oh-so-great names of Thor and Sif and Loki, but she did like the variety of her lives, when she remembered them.”

Be warned: this one hurts to read. Heart-breakingly well written. Loki achieves exactly what he wanted - which ends up not at all what he’d expected. A perfect alternate-universe version of the aftermath of The Avengers, with Loki as broken and lost, but still unable to let go of what he’d spent so much to win. The author gives Jane the opportunity to be the strong character hinted at in the series, under the worst circumstances. Angst, pain, non-con - absolutely worth reading.
“Loki wins the Earth. The Avengers are missing or dead. Thor is nowhere to be found, so Loki makes do with the next best thing: Jane Foster.”

A sprawling, well-written epic. Friends-to-lovers, and the slow-burniest of slow-burns. Fantastic characterization, great action. When I discovered this, I literally read through until 4:00 a.m. to finish it. Absolutely amazing!
“Thor and Loki never make it back to Asgard. Now S.H.I.E.L.D. is stuck with the world's most hated war criminal on their hands and everyone wants a piece - unless they can find a way to get rid of him for good.”

Okay - hear me out. Technically cannon compliant, exceptional, top-tier writing, fantastic characterization, (really great sex)... but the end elevates it beyond pure PWP in that it explores elements of both Jane and Loki’s characters in a surprising and acutely heartbreaking way.
“Aliens kidnap Jane and Loki and make them have sex. (That's it, that's the whole story.)”

SHE’S GORGEOUS AND I LOVE THAT LIL STUPID HELMET SO MUCH
And let's be real: Loki just owns Jane when he goes "I'm sorry that you seem to be confused. Thor belongs to me. That god is mine!"
my favorite part of TDW was when loki threw his positive pregnancy test at Jane and screamed “eat it bitch”

JANE FOSTER | THE MIGHTY THOR
Thor: Love & Thunder, July 8th 2022

This photo means a lot to me. And I’ll tell you why.
Natalie Portman, as we know, was shut out of Marvel. She chose not to sign any new contract not just because of the way her character was treated (though there is that) but because Thor: The Dark World was slated to be the first Marvel movie directed by a woman, her friend (and eventual Wonder Woman director) Patty Jenkins. Portman hadn’t planned on being in The Dark World, but lept at the chance to be a part of feminist history and to be directed in what would have beenJenkin’s first film since her 2003 Oscar-winning Monster. Portman signed a new contract with Marvel. They fired Jenkins soon after. Portman was crushed because she essentially had been duped into a contract for a film that would keep her away from her young son and force her back into a one-dimensional role under yet another male director. And we all remember how awful that movie was.
When it came time for the third Thor movie, they tried to get Portman under contract again. And she said no. Marvel decided to spin the story to make it seem like it was all their idea. At first, they went for the lame and nonsensical:
When Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about why she wouldn’t be in the third film, and said there were “many reasons, many of which are in the film, so you will see that” continuing with “There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie. The majority, 95 percent of the movie, takes place in the cosmos.” (x)
Seeing as The Dark World also took place in space, this answer didn’t have a lot of credibility. When Portman said she was “done” with the Marvel Universe, Feige got vicious in interviews, telling reporters that Valkyrie was in Ragnorak to be better than Jane Foster and a better match for Thor.
“We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok, and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior.” (x)
Feige implies that A) Valkyrie was in Ragnorak just to be a romantic interest for Thor, B) Valkyrie is better and more powerful than Jane Foster, and C) Jane Foster was always Thor’s inferior.
What’s ridiculous is that Ragnorak had a “sorry Jane dumped you” throwaway line to explain Portman’s absence. And instead of saying that Jane and Thor broke up in interviews, a line that does not spoil literally anything about the film, Feige chose to attack Jane’s strength and capability, which would have been a very special dig at Portman.
Do you want to know what none of this sounds like? Taika Waititi’s opinion. Waititi is a master storyteller who does not sacrifice his feminist views for laughs. You can bet that Feige’s ridiculous slams on Portman and her character Jane– disguised as “promotion” for WAITITI’S FILM– would have troubled him immensely. This is a man with a Māori father, who had to use his mother’s maiden name– Cohen– for earlier work because an indigenous last name kept him away from opportunity. This man does NOT fuck around with entertainment that gets its power off of sexism and inequality. He knows from experience just how infuriating it is when it comes to directors missing out on opportunities because they aren’t a white man.
So how does he fix this? How does he fix the idea that Jane Foster can’t go to space, or that she’s not powerful enough for Thor, the god of thunder?
He makes her Thor.
Waititi saw Portman / Jane Foster’s name dragged through the mud by Kevin Feige in order to promote his movie, and when he got hired to direct again, he decided to right those wrongs. This picture means everything. He is on his knee, handing her Thor’s hammer, essentially saying, you will never have to go through that shit with me. With me, you’re a god. And the expression on her face, after Marvel attempted to break her, doesn’t need words.
What a photo. What a film. What a man.

Thanks for taking your time to read this, have a great day/night!
You know, another thing that struck me about Thor: Ragnarok, and this is something I was suspicious and concerned about since long before the film actually came out, just from the news we were hearing about it at the time, and which was horribly confirmed when it actually was released, was that in all the reviews for the film (and I read dozens of reviews), I realized it was the first Marvel film, and certainly the first Thor film, that Loki had appeared in, in which he goes almost totally unmentioned in the reviews. And across the board, if he was mentioned at all, it’s the first time we don’t see the critics praising Tom Hiddelston’s performance, or talking about how Loki is a more interesting character than Thor. I knew that was going to happen, because the director kept making it a point, really, shoving in down people’s throats in interviews, that this was going to be “Thor’s film”, that Thor was going to be made front and center. As if he wasn’t front and center in the last two THOR films, and gee and wow, Loki just happened to be a more powerful and impactful character, despite his far lesser screen time. I knew the second I heard that, that Taika Waititi’s solution to the Thor problem would be to aggressively make Loki seem inferior to Thor, despite the fact that it would utterly ignore and even destroy previously established characterization for BOTH of them. Talk about uncreative, lazy writing. There’s a reason Tom Hiddleston and Loki don’t get even a fraction of the attention each was given in the previous reviews of the first two films, and also even The Avengers film. It’s because Waititi purposefully wrote a character who was both insignificant and flimsy, who was emasculated and idiotic. Basically, a character who had nothing whatever to do with the Loki of the first films. And yet I still see people trying to claim Loki progressed as a character, that he grew, etc… LOL, no. It was total character assassination is what it was, because Taika Waititi’s ass had a very real agenda in wanting to steal the spot light from Tom Hiddleston and give it to Chris Hemsworth. And I guess he succeeded, because again, look back over reviews of this film, and compare them to reviews of “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World”, and notice the absolutely glaring difference in regards to Loki and how he’s perceived. In reviews for the first two films, Loki absolutely captivates the critics, many of them talking about how he’s the most interesting and complex character in the whole MCU. In reviews of Ragnarok, he’s either not mentioned at all, or he’s mentioned as being a wasted opportunity and inconsequential to the plot and story. That was purposeful on the director’s part. I absolutely know it was.
MCU CHARACTERS I DON'T LIKE THAT MUCH/THINK ARE OVERRATED
Tony Stark

Natasha Romanoff

UNPOPULAR/HATED ON MCU CHARACTERS I PREFER
Clint Barton

Sam Wilson

Carol Danvers

Jane Foster

Peggy Carter

Hank Pym

Pietro and Wanda Maximoff

Bruce Banner

OTHERS I COULDN'T FIT
James Rhodes, Pepper Potts, Sharron Carter
Now this does not mean I hate Tony or Nat at all I just think they are way over hyped and I can't find much to like about them. Idk maybe my opinion will change with the Black Widow movie coming out in a couple months. I STILL LOVE TONY STARK AND NATASHA ROMANOFF.
