Levi let out a sigh of relief the moment your silhouette appeared through the shadows, tensed shoulders relaxing. He turned his head, all focus shifting instantly to you.

“You.” He exhaled, a hint of exasperation in his tone, indicating that the little time spent without your absence had not been very fun. “Where have you been?”

“Hi. Went to scout.” You answered, reaching the little campfire to stand beside Levi. All your friends sat circling it. Levi’s subtle, not very subtle eagerness at your arrival seemed to have triggered something, making the already guffawing crowd of people laugh even harder. Concluded with Levi’s sour face, it wasn’t very hard to guess what the subject of amusement must have been.

“Oh, are we bullying Levi again?” You beamed, nudging Levi’s leg with your foot, signaling him to give you space. “Scoot over. I want to join too.”

Levi shot a glare, but shifted to let you sit beside him. As another wave of laugher sparked through your friends, you plopped down on the grass, folding your legs. It was a chilly night, and everyone wanted to stay near the fire, therefore, the circle was so tightly formed around the fire, you could barely squeeze yourself between Levi and Nifa.

“Sit on my lap, why don’t you?” Levi grumbled, scowling and squirming a little at the close contact.

“What? It’s cold. And you’re warm.” You said as you sat down. “What are you so pissy for anyways?” You pressed yourself tighter, curling yourself up against him, uncaring of the poisonous gaze. You’ve learnt a long ago, half of Levi's words didn’t mean shit, that if he actually was uncomfortable, you wouldn’t even be here right now, he would’ve broken a bone or two. Levi’s personal space wasn’t something he let anyone come through, but you’ve been an exception for that for a long time.

And he was warm. A warmth that surprisingly only the cold, cold man was capable of.

And as always, the low protest died soon and he adjusted to let you lean against him.

“Hange.” He muttered, answering your previous question. “They’re trying to convince people to marry me.”

“Wonderful.” You grinned, “I volunteer.”

“I hate you.”

Cue for a very drunk Hange cracking up again, leading the others to join in. Even Erwin, ever regal and solemn, couldn’t seem to be able to hold the small smile from forming. With Hange’s contagious laughter and Levi’s scowl, it was impossible to.

“Oh why’d you let Hange drink again?” You laughed, watching them as Moblit struggled, trying to pry the bottle out of the section commander's grasp. “They're gonna be terrible to deal with tomorrow.”

“They insisted it was one sip.” Erwin said solemnly.

“Well, that sure seems like one sip.”

“But seriously though,” Nanaba piped in, shoulders still shaking with the waves of laughter. “Levi’s got all that spunk, but no bitches.”

“Stubborn shortie-” Hange's voice was cut of as they hiccupped

“Shut up. All of you. Please.” Levi sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “

“Point stands. In your mid-thirties, Levi. How long are you going to wait?”

“Why,” He huffed. “Are you people so insistent on analyzing my personal life every damn time? Do you not have anything better to do?”

“Only well wishers.” She gave him a smug smile. “That’s what friends do, they care for each other.”

“No. You just want to give me shit.”

“Well, that too.” She shrugged.

“Iffff—if anything,” Hange stumbled in, rubbing their eyes. She glanced at you pointedly. “You could at least date her. That’d be nice.”

“So I keep telling him.” You feigned a disappointed sigh.

“Don’t fucking egg them on.” He hissed, face heating up at the suggestion. How could they even think it’d work out? He thinks, against the thoughts tugging. Ridiculous. They were ridiculous. You were just as ridiculous. So what does he do with this ridiculous fucking feelin–

“Oh but look,” Hange leaned forward, squinting to watch the two of you, their glasses reflecting off the fire and casting shadows on their face. “ Do mine eyes deceive me or is Ackerman over there blushing?”

“No.” The denial was quick. A little too quick.

“I confirm.” Nanaba smirked. Miche grunted.

“No.”

“Oh, Levi.” Erwin’s eyes glimmered amusement.

“I will hit you. Don’t even go there.”

The roar of laughter only grew louder.

And the night rolled on, the nonsense bickerings and banters continued. Friendly faces and friendly voices, joking and teasing and laughing without a care in the world. Bottles clinked, the firelight glinting on them. At one point, you and Hange started singing some stupid song you’ve heard in the fair, rocking back and forth with the music. And you weren’t certain, but you could swear there was a hint of melody even in the wind blowing by. And it was cold, but with Levi beside you, you were okay. But that was okay, it was okay. More than okay, really. The happiness was overwhelming.

.

“You know,” Hange called out suddenly. They had taken to fully sprawl out on the grass. They’d been quiet a while, and you had thought they must’ve passed out, but appears not.

Everyone turned to look at them.

“This is nice isn’t it?” They mumbled, blinking up to the sky. “I mean, sure, we might die tomorrow, but this is nice. I wouldn’t really mind dying.”

“You know, what would’ve been nice, Hange?” Nanaba said, watching Hange. And despite the words itself, she was smiling. “To not mention death.”

“I know but,” Hange sat up, grinning. “This is not too bad as a last night of your life right? I wouldn’t mind.”

And for a second, no one spoke. Perhaps, it was because all were drunk more or less but that hit harder in that moment. Unsaid words were spoken in silence, the wind carrying the oaths away. And even Levi’s eyes had softened.

Only Hange could say words like that with that face, you thought. You weren’t sad, not really. Because Hange was right. Being a scout meant learning to appreciate every breath you can take, and nights like this were as good as they’d come.

“Aww Hange.” You sighed, grinning back. “Cheesy much? You’re making Levi all squirmy.”

“No, I am not—” Levi’s protests were buried as the group jumped in yet again another session of Levi leg-pulling.

But despite it all, Levi thought.

Pissheads, all of them were. But nevertheless.

He watched you with the corner of his eyes, watching you as you laughed your head off to something Eld said, shoulders shaking, the firelight making your eyes glitter. And you were so close, so close, he could hardly breathe. And the urge to wrap an arm around you, to pull you closer. To feel you against him.Would that be so wrong of him? If he leaned close, would you pull away? But it’s okay, he thinks.

Hange was right.

It’s okay if he dies tomorrow. He wouldn’t really mind.

He didn’t really mind right now either.

He finds it strange that he didn’t really mind it. Any of it.

He didn’t mind Hange or Nanaba or any of them.

He didn’t mind your stupid little jokes, clearly made with the intention to piss him off. He didn’t really mind that you were so close. He didn’t mind that your head on his shoulder. He didn’t mind a lot of things that he thinks he would’ve minded if it was anyone else but you.

He doesn’t really know how it works. He doesn’t like thinking about the strange little feelings in his heart that tugged everytime you smiled, or the way his stomach tightened whenever you flirted with him so casually.

And maybe one day he’ll tell you. Maybe he won’t

Does it matter? Is it not enough to only have you alive and close?

He’s here now. With everyone and with you.

He’s home.

Levi x Reader (F) Silent Treatment

genre: mild angst, fluff

summary: Levi says something in an argument and you decide to give him the silent treatment.

Levi X Reader (F) Silent Treatment

Tick, Tock.

All you could hear is the clock ticking as if time is rather slow, every second the same sound radiating. The room is engulfed by silence that even the faintest of sounds reach your ears.

Two days after the most recent expedition, here you are, sitting on the couch by the lance corporal’s desk. It’s been two days and Humanity’s Strongest is still working himself out with a bundle of papers.

You glance at him with pure concern. His steely eyes are severely shadowed, a mixture of purple and grey forming under them. His ebony hair a mess as strands fail to form their usual shape. His desk is chaotic, with papers falling off to the floor, whether scanned or not.

You feel your chest tighten at the sight. This is no good. Two days have passed since everyone returned from the outside and he has not gotten any better. It’s understandable to work himself out the first day, but today shouldn’t be this much hard on him as well. He needs rest, and plenty of them.

You prep yourself as you stand up to try and convince the poor man out of his seemingly hell office. This will cause him no benefit.

“Levi,” you approach the Captain calmly, “what do you say we get out and drink some tea for a while to get you a few rest? Yes?” you smile in all hopes that he’d agree and choose to come with you.

He raises his head to look at you, and as your eyes connect with his, it’s like a thousand daggers stabbed your heart. He’s so exhausted but he doesn’t want to show it. “As much as I would like your offer, there’s still more unfinished work here and I don’t want to go slacking off without complying. But thank you otherwise.”

You are not going to give up on this.

“Levi, there are other days to do this. You don’t have to overwork yourself, in fact, you won’t finish early if you do work without any energy at all,” convincing him is one way. You wish he would just give in but he continues to sign the paper he’s previously reading, and then another, and another.

He stays quiet, not saying anything back to your proposal. He’s fixed with his rejection, but you have your spirit.

“I’m atleast going to get you your tea,” you walk away, leaving his office and sighing once you close the door behind you.

You don’t want to force him out of his state because that might stress him more, so you’ll continue to try your luck by offering and offering again.

You head to the kitchen to make a freshly brewed tea for your lover. You see Hange discussing something with the commander at the table. When Erwin sees you, he immediately asks the Captain’s whereabouts.

“He’s… still doing paperwork,” you sadly inform. Everybody’s well aware that expeditions will never avoid casualties and the responsibilities that will be dragged along with it.

“Shorty must be working himself off, huh,” Hange adjusts her glasses. You know they’re concerned for the Captain as well, even though they don’t say anything more about it.

“I’ll go now,” you smile before walking back to the office, holding Levi’s tea. You know the way he makes his tea, and he wants it perfect. Aside from himself, the only person he allows to make tea for him is you. You pray this would get him away from his desk.

Without the need to knock, you enter the room, flashing a small grin while walking up to the Captain.

“Here, I brought you some tea, it’s still hot so be extra careful.” It’s difficult finding a place for the teacup since documents are everywhere, but you clean up a spot and try to help in organizing his work.

“Thanks,” is the only thing that comes out of his mouth. Disappointed, you slowly turn your back to him, taking a step toward the couch again, but you stop midways.

“Can you lay beside me in 10? I found difficulty sleeping last night and I think I should get some rest since I have nothing else to do, and you should definitely get rest, too, so?” you suggest, not giving up on the sleep deprived man although the idea is a little weak and stupid so you know he is going to refuse right away.

“Go get your rest, I can’t leave this,” he says, not even lifting his gaze to you. You see how he still pulled off his usual nonchalant expression, nonetheless you could see right through him.

“Can I atleast help you out in any way?” you wish he would say yes, but for god’s sake, he shakes his head, holding his ground, “I don’t need your help,” as he mutters your name, his tone begins to turn so cold.

“But Levi… look at you, you’re a mess! You get no sleep these past nights, and you haven’t even eaten lunch yet! I get how this is important but you need to take care of yourself. Please—”

“Will you quit bothering me even just for once in your life?” He seethes vehemently, massaging his temples as he asks for his very own version of peace.

With that you fall silent, taken aback. Every word he insinuated stings really hard like there’s venom in it. You want to speak up for yourself and explain what you want for him, but he’s way too fixated with his objective to finish his work that he doesn’t even realize that he has caused you pain within just a few words.

You stare at the raven head dumbfoundedly, looking for words to say but you just can’t find your voice. Opening your mouth to speak is no avail. The dead silence dominates once again.

You finally decide to leave the room. Maybe it’s best you give him what he wants.

Levi thinks this it’s best, too, since he needs concentration and craves focus in hopes of lifting his conscience by clearing his responsibilities regarding every fallen soldier’s death. He doesn’t mean any harm to you. No, he would never want that. But his desire to fulfill his tasks has quite blinded him.

He raises his head to look at you, noticing your sudden silence. You’re about to turn around at the moment, but your glistening eyes fail to escape his sight.

His heart wretches by the view. You crying is the last thing he wants, especially if it’s because of him. But he’s frozen and unable to move. He’s too much of a coward to speak up and stop you from your track.

This really is his fault. All this time what you have been implying was for him to unwind even for a bit, yet all he did was ignore your sweet concern.

Your heavy footsteps echoed around the room. Tears have already fallen from your misty orbs, eventually dropping to the floor.

His attempt to call you out and apologize immediately after he lashed out is unsuccessful. You’re gone and not another word left one’s lips after what he said.

He places his palm across his face out of frustration. Too late is what he is right now. He fails to function more and more after minutes passed. He tries to go on with his work but he keep remembering the scene with you earlier. How your beautiful face of hope turned into an expression of agony and pain. None of this helps, “I have to fix this,” he murmurs to himself, afraid that you might grow distant as time passes by.

You wipe your eyes, fixing your appearance in an attempt to look decent before going to the mess hall to get your dinner.

Armin approaches you first, asking your condition. You’re clueless about what condition it is that he means but you figure it’s probably his immediate observation of your feelings at the second.

“Are you alright?” His eyes are curious and concerned, but you wave him off with a small smile, “I’m fine, Armin. You get too observant at times, don’t you? What’s for dinner?”

Joining the others, you eat slowly. You can’t help but think of your partner. This causes your stomach to swirl. You try your best to get him out of your mind.

“These mashed potatoes are awesome!” Sasha exclaims, munching like lightning. Christa giggles, finding Sasha’s addiction with potatoes adorable.

Eren smiles but stays quiet. Seems he is still affected by the previous expedition. He catches you looking at him and you smile.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asks. You nodded and ask him back, “How about you? Haven’t moved on from recently?”

He gives a small reassuring smile, “I’m coping.”

Conversations came and went. Everyone returns to their quarters to get some sleep, and you’re left all alone. The deafening sound of silence has dominated your ears. You heave out a sigh.

You finally erased Levi from your head for a while, but when you go to the kitchen for a tea, you almost immediately spot across the room the man you’re so desperately trying to avoid, sipping his own cup of tea while leaning against the table. It’s the one you made for him earlier, you could tell by the choice of teacup. But shouldn’t it be cold by now?

Abort.

You try to leave unnoticed but you hear him call you.

“Speak to me,” his tired eyes bore to your own broken ones, secretly pleading you to talk to him. He had dismissed his uniform jacket and only wore his undershirt. The sight of him just has to tear your heart into several pieces. You need to stay strong. You don’t want to shatter in front of him, or you’ll only end up burdening him.

I’m just a bother, after all.

You refuse to talk, so you leave the room in a rush. You feel your eyes mist again. You blink a few times to stop the tears from forming and run to the women’s quarters instead of Levi’s room, the one you both share every night without hitch.

The bed below Mikasa’s has been vacant ever since you stayed in Levi’s room. In your head, you thank all the walls that no one new had been recruited to your squad so that you can still use your bed from before for desperate times like this.

Everyone else is already asleep so you don’t have to answer their interrogations about what a miracle it is for you to spend the night in your old bed, without the Captain.

As you lay down, you close your eyes in hopes of falling asleep quickly, but your bed just feels lonely and sad. The mattress feels emptier than ever, and the atmosphere in the room feels dark, even if your comrades are complete in the same room.

You begin to toss and turn, recalling the scenes from earlier. This isn’t any help, but then again, being in the same room as Levi won’t do any of you good. You’d just distract him, like what you can only do.

On the other hand, behind your locked doors stands Levi, aiming to knock. And he did, but no one responds. Why? Why did you not respond? He knew you went there. He just knows it, because where else would you be? He knocks one more time and that’s when he guesses that you might be sleeping already. He knows better than to disrespect his other comrades’ privacy and enter without permission. With his conclusion, he finally heads back to his room and tries to finish all the messy paperwork, looking at the door once in a while, hoping for you to enter and ask him to rest with you. But you didn’t.

Tick, Tock.

The sound of the clock’s hands ticking feeds on the silence of the room. You wake up and there’s light already.

You shoot up from the bed. Mikasa is already awake, as you know she is the earliest of birds. She looks at you with amusement, and you roll your eyes.

“What in the world happened between you and Captain Levi for you to come back here?” she asks. You answered her with a grimace.

You change back into a spare uniform you had left in the quarters before heading to the mess hall once again. Levi is already there, seated with Erwin and the others. Hange offers you a seat unfortunately across Levi which you accept defeatedly, for there are no more available seats anywhere. Avoiding him is hard, and you should probably deal with constantly encountering him today. You have duties like cleaning in the morning and training after lunch, so a lingering Captain is not unnatural.

“What time did you sleep last night?” Levi asks, which you ignore. You scoop the hot soup and blow the steam off before sipping it. “Answer me,” no one could hear you conversing—scratch that—him speaking. Everyone from the table had a discussion that doesn’t include yhe two of you.

“Why did you not answer my knocks?” he asks once more but you only sip your tea. You so desperately wanted to answer him with a sarcastic, “because maybe I’m asleep, don’t you think?” but you stop yourself from doing so and stayed quiet.

His eyebrows twitch in annoyance. You think he has to deal with this. And he will, because there’s no way your pride will let you talk to him. Although you’re tough enough to convince yourself not to say a single word to him, you still feel guilt rushing through your veins. Aren’t times like these the times when you should understand him the most and swallow your pride?

But he said it himself didn’t he? He wants you to get off of his neck and quit pestering him, and you’re just one to follow.

You shake the thought away and continue eating. Soon after you finish, you all proceed to your cleaning duties. Apparently and unluckily, as if fate just doesn’t want to cooperate with you, you‘re assigned to clean the Captain’s room which is just downright unfair. At this point, talking to him will be inevitable.

You sigh exasperatedly with cleaning equipment in your hands. You try to convince Jean who hates cleaning the stables to exchange tasks, but he says he’d prefer picking horseshit with his bare hands than have to clean the Captain’s office. Aside from him, no one wants to swap tasks with you, knowing how hard it is to satisfy the Captain with some mediocre cleaning skills.

Accepting defeat once again, you knock three times before waiting for Levi’s reply, “name and business,” his certain cold voice replies.

“It’s me, I was assigned to clean your office.” Silence follows. You figure that you should enter and you don’t fail to notice the slightest smirk in Levi’s lips.

What an asshole.

Brushing aside the man’s presence, you go on and start sweeping the floor. You just want to finish this quickly to be able to get away from him.

“You’re sweeping too fast, you’re not picking up all the dust,” Levi remarks. You furrow your brows and roll your eyes heavenwards in total annoyance, “do it all over again,” he orders.

And you obey, quietly. Besides, it wouldn’t favor you if you object. You’d have to speak.

Meanwhile, Levi couldn’t take his eyes off you. He’s supposed to finish his “work” today but his mind is somewhere else. Of course he hasn’t forgotten yesterday. But what he said was not his intention.

You begin to mop.

“Did you wash that with soap?” he asks which you, once again, ignore. This is getting on his nerves. He wants to hear your voice. He wants to say he was sorry, but he couldn’t pick up the strength to do so because he’s afraid. Afraid he might hurt you again with his reckless words. Actually, no. He’s more than certain that he’d never throw you such words again. Rather, he’s more afraid that you would just shrug off his apology and keep giving him the cold shoulder. Then, he chooses not to speak anymore. Silence engulfs the room.

Tick, tock.

Once you finish cleaning, you leave the room. He didn’t even try to stop you from leaving or even just speak again. Why would he even do that anyways?

Afternoon comes and training quickly starts. Your hand to hand combat with Eren attracted a lot of attention from your mates. You’re now sweaty, fists tightly balled mid air. Eren’s fighting stance is now a little sloppy as he catches his breath. You chuckle at the sight. It’s now time to end this battle before he gets exhausted even more, you think with pure concern, an image of a tired Eren flashing through your head.

“Oi! Finish this already!” Jean cheers, on your side.

“You have to beat her, Eren! She just becomes stronger and stronger every session!” Sasha jokingly shouts with Armin laughing a bit on his own.

As the fight becomes more and more heated, you aim for his guts in the stomach as you perform a perfect uppercut once he’s distracted. And of course, you eventually win with that final move. He lays on the ground helplessly, not being able to stand up for ten seconds.

You offer your hand to him. He accepts it and you help him stand up. Slowly, the crowd gathered around you disperses and goes their separate ways. You stay with Eren. You’re fond of talking with your opponent right after a match like this.

“You seriously have to teach me some of your skills!” Eren says, catching his breath. You’re both heading inside.

You chuckle, “You’re getting better, kid,” you ruffle his hair. His shoulders slump down in annoyance. He’s well aware that he’s far from your abilities, not to mention, you’re the second in command of the Captain.

“I don’t understand how you’re shorter than I am, but you still manage to beat me and ruffle my hair like this!” You both laugh at his statement.

From your peripheral vision, you see Levi standing with crossed arms by your far left, looking at you and your companion. His dark aura radiates, taking over the atmosphere of the open field. Something tells you that he’s awfully jealous, but for what reason? Eren quickly notices.

“Hey, I think you should go to Captain right now, I don’t want him to think…” he hesitantly states.

“No, it’s okay,” you calmly assure him. A few moments later and it’s already dinner time, and you proceed to the mess hall once again.

You sit beside Eren, conversing with him about a couple of military equipment. You notice that Levi sit in front of you again, but you pay no attention, even though guilt cripples through your veins. You always sit beside him every meal, but for the fourth time, you don’t.

You continue to discuss about certain materials that the 3DMG is composed of, educating Eren of their functions. As you sip on your tea, you notice Levi staring firmly at you, his gaze never leaving. But you refuse to acknowledge his steel grey eyes, standing by your principle of giving him the silent treatment.

You finish your meal and get up to bring your plates to the sink. Just as you’re about to leave, you’re approached by the sight of your Captain glaring at your soul.

You’re at a loss for words. Not that you want to talk anyway.

“I’m telling you, if you still don’t speak to me…” he says, blocking your way.

Levi crosses his arms. “You’re enjoying the whole day with that brat, aren’t you?” he begins to converse. “What are you even talking about? The both of you? You were talking non-stop, woman.” You stare at him with an emotionless expression. Slight anger and frustration dance in his tired and sleepless eyes. This only confirms your thoughts from earlier that he is, indeed, jealous. “And you even ended that match with him because you didn’t want to drain his energy,” he adds. He knows, he can read his lovely, caring girl so well. You care about everyone half the time, and he doesn’t want to admit, but right now, he is jealous.

He’s wearing his white button down shirt and suspenders. He has never failed to attract you with even the most common outfits and uniform. How can he be just so hot?

You shake your thoughts away, trying to walk past him but he grips your wrist and pulls you back in front of him. “Tell me, have you perhaps… had a change of heart?” Surprised, you quickly look at your lover’s eyes, and find they’re filled with loneliness and sorrow. You feel your heart shattering into thin little shreds. I can’t handle this sight!

You weaken with his touch, you want to tell him no, you could never do that and that you love him and him only, but you stay silent that you’re almost convinced you were now mute.

“Shit,” he curses, ruffling his hair out of frustration before he drags you away from that place. Your heart races and you couldn’t think straight. You miss him, and you can’t deny how hard a day is without him.

Tick, Tock.

The next thing you know you’re in his immensely cold and silent office, pinned to the wall like a prey being feasted on by its predator.

“You’re driving me crazy, and I hate it, woman,” his eyes are dark, like his emotions have been making him lose it. You look away, avoiding his gaze but to no avail. He lifts your chin and direct your face to his.

“Look, this cold treatment you’re giving me is not helping anyone. I’m more distracted than I could ever be and I haven’t finished the same damn pile of paperwork from yesterday until now. So just talk to me, and let’s get out off this mess,” he calmly states in a quiet manner, as if trying to own his mistakes by acting well behaved.

By this time, you know he already regrets his previous actions. And even though you’re no stranger to Levi’s tall walls and his apathetic behavior, you just had to make him voice out his apologies.

“Speak…” You look at him in his eyes filled with mixed emotions. Rage, loss, guilt, sorrow, doubt. You’re the only one among everyone who can see this because you’re the only one he can be vulnerable with. Once again, you feel your heart break into pieces.

“Levi…” His face lightened up with your call. Your voice is soft and mellow. Finally, you spoke! It was such a torture, a day without your beautiful voice. The poor Captain is glad to hear you again, but is taken aback by your next words, so he cuts you off before you could even finish. “Maybe we should just—”

“Fuck! Wait! Don’t fucking do this to me, I’m sorry! I’m a jerk… I know, I know. Give me another chance, hey…” Your eyes widen at his pleas. Overflowing fear and nervousness are written in his misty steel orbs. He frantically holds your hands and you could feel his desperation.

“What?” you ask in genuine confusion. You’re glad he said his sorries, but why is he acting like you were going to leave him?

“Come on… don’t you dare leave me. I’m sorry.” And there you could tell how afraid he is. He’s afraid by your choice of words, he thought you were going to leave him and now he’s so desperate of making you stay.

You slowly rest your palms on his cheeks, “Levi… you got this wrong, I was just going to—” He places his hands on top of yours before interrupting again.

“Hey… you don’t have to end things, let’s not be so sudden with our decisions and let’s talk about this—” his voice is weak and silent that you can’t bear it anymore. “Levi! I am not going to end things and leave you! Have you gone crazy?” you scold in a manner of wishing he would just stop panicking.

“I was going to say that maybe we should just be careful next time and not be so reckless with our words. You just didn’t let me finish!” you chuckle as you notice his realization. He winces, his glowing eyes now dried from the threatening tears. You’re glad not a single drop escaped, you can’t see him crying or you’ll lose it.

“Fuck, I sounded so desperate,” he hisses and averts his gaze, making you drop your hands. You can almost feel your heart melt. He regrets his mistakes and at the same time, he’s horrified to lose you.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbles in an almost inaudible tone. You want him to look you in the eye. His apathetic self have caused him to say the expression almost never, and you want to feel his sincerity in a rare occasion like this. You guide his face to your own. “What is it? I didn’t hear,” you tease, playing innocent.

He grimaces, an indication that he doesn’t want to repeat. But for you, he will. “I said I’m sorry, so don’t do that again,” his tone returns to his popular authoritative one, and at that moment you know you should obey.

“Don’t do what?” You bite your lips to stifle a smirk. He is so amusing when helpless, you’re beginning to think this was a good idea!

“Give me the cold shoulder like I’m some stranger or whatever the fuck,” he furrows his brows as he glares straight into your eyes.

“Alright, Captain.” You giggle and tiptoe to reach his soft lips with your own, kissing him intensely like how you missed him. And he answers your kisses like how he missed you, too.

🔥The Secret Compartment🔥

image

~~~
“Oh come on, Erwin! I know you’re just as curious as I am!” Hanji whined, leaning with her palms flat against the Commander’s desk, her eyes shining behind her glasses.
“Hanji, it would be wrong,” Erwin said with a sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
“Who cares about moral principles? Levi is out for a few hours, this would be the perfect time to do it! You know there won’t be another chance like this again soon, we need to take advantage of it and see exactly what he is hiding from us!”
Erwin met Hanji’s excited gaze, knowing she would not drop this until she got what she wanted. He sighed again, trying to fight off the headache that was forming against his skull. About a month ago, both Erwin and Hanji had noticed a locked drawer attached to Levi’s desk. The pair always knew that their friend was a private person, but it was the only drawer that had a lock on it. There was even one time when Hanji had burst into his office without knocking, only to see him quickly and violently slam the drawer shut with a glare in her direction. They had questioned him on it, only to be met with annoyed scowls and complaints about everyone sticking their noses into his business.
CHAPTER 21
Bergamot.
He smells like fresh dirt and home and bergamot.
A pair of arms cocoon around you, holding you in place. Cradling the back of your head, lifting it from touching the ground, is a strong palm.
Sounds of the outside world are muffled; distant.
Here all you can hear is the wild thumping of your heart, your blood strongly coursing through your veins.
I am alive.
I am alive.
I am alive.
The crash happened so fast—
Falling from the sky. Sliding across the forest floor. Rolling over and over and over—
Until your body stopped abruptly against a cushion of muscle.
When the dust cloud settles, when the fog fades into vapor, you open your eyes.
Shades of deep, vertical brown overtake your vision. It's so vibrant, familiar yet new. For what feels like hours you stare at a small bug, a speckled ladybug, crawling in circles until it decides to head north.
With each passing exhale your attention travels with it — up, up, up — when causation connects:
One of the mighty tree trunks of the forest broke this violent fall.
(But not just for you — he was the one to take the brunt of the damage.)
He...
When your lips part, your mouth is dry.
Constricted, confused lungs try for their very first breath.
Inhale.
Breathe.
Stay with me.
But that isn't your voice; not in your mind's eye.
Blurry images flash along your vision, sprinkling red, black, and silver against the brush and trees of the forest.
No matter how many times you blink, squeeze, tear up, the visuals scatter like materialized pins and needles.
They won't go away. They clip to your peripheral, forcing you to confront what's ahead.
Nothing is linear. Nothing is clear.
Nausea, relief, uncertainty, rage — these emotions assault your senses. Emotions. Mind.
It’s like waking up after a horrible dream.
One you’ve been kicking and screaming to leave the minute it started.
Let me out.
The freefall plays over and over, a never-ending loop of sickening weightlessness, without a means to jolt yourself awake.
Let me out, let me out, let me—
Something mirrors your heart beat and fractures in its own rhythm, pounding erratically against your chest.
Your heart still beats, but not as panicked — not as heavy — as this.
As... his.
Him — the one who broke your fall.
(Levi.)
Without thinking, your trembling hand rises past his ribcage, up his arm, to his fingers resting on your trembling shoulder.
Then you realize it isn't your body that's shaking.
It's Levi's.
Quivering like a leaf, gasping for breath as if he’s run a marathon.
He doesn’t move. He’s frozen in time, right where you left him.
(I’m sorry.)
Over and over, you replay precious seconds in the back of your mind — fractured memories you’ve only just begun to uncover.
Falling.
Darkness.
(James? James, shit, wake up—)
A voice crack.
Hopelessness.
Instinctively your arms surround him, as if dissolving him into your very pores will somehow help with the confusion in your gut.
Even when your fingers raise hire on your shoulder to glide along his, he doesn’t relax.
If anything, his ivory muscles forge into steel.
Prepared, like you’re the enemy.
They do not soften when your fingers curl, timid and experimental, around his hand for reassurance.
(Wake up.)
They do not yield when you exhale, slow and steady.
They do not rest when you squeeze, as if to offer a sign of life.
(Please, James, don’t do this to—)
“Levi.”
Two syllables — you murmur his very name, realizing the severity of all that you’ve missed.
The dampness of the Underground City right above your heads;
The heat of the sun on a riverbank of the surface;
The light of the morning, just outside an open window, glittering over a bare shoulder;
All puzzle pieces, scattered across a large table.
They fit together in a way — you just need to figure out where.
When you inch your face away from his body, you see it: those blue-gray eyes, pupils dilated and whites wide, staring straight through you.
(As though lost in another time, in the same nothingness you’d lost yourself in for months.)
His chest heaves in and out, trying to catch a breath that just won’t come.
Wretched, heavy gasps contain the fear.
The panic.
All while reliving, too.
“Levi?” you ask once more, softer this time.
A sharp battle cry sounds above your heads. You glance high to witness the silhouette of Petra flying through the canopy of trees with a trail of steam behind her, swords extended.
The titan has been defeated.
The forest floor quakes and shivers with its demise.
Except that isn’t how the mission happened last time.
The realization is a chilling thought creeping, infecting, the back of your mind as you return your attention to the captain in front of you.
“Levi.”
You urge firmer this time, but it’s no use.
Levi Ackerman continues to stare ahead, but he blinks. Rapid fire, as if trying to return to his body.
This face.
You gravitate towards this face that consumes every waking dream you’ve ever had.
Caging his face between your palms, you finally snap with a command.
“Levi, look at me.”
His gray eyes shoot down, catching yours, and your entire world feels warm again.
The light in a never-ending darkness.
Your past is your present and your present tumbles into your past.
An undiscovered constellation of points in your memory that haven’t quite lined up yet, but him…
All you know is that you have missed him, this incorrigible man, lying beside you.
And all this time, it is Levi Ackerman that holds the frame of the puzzle you have been trying to solve.
Instinctively your thumbs run along his cheekbones, causing his eyes to grow impossibly wider.
Unwise, perhaps, but the softened motion brings you comfort unlike anything else, tethering bits and pieces together in the mind by touch alone.
Bits and pieces, to bigger pictures —
You — a nobody from the Underground City, meant to die by the hands of greed and saved by ones of promise.
You — a formidable fighter, a friend, a colleague, a lover.
You — Lieutenant James, member of the Special Operations squad in the Survey Corps.
Maybe you don’t have the whole story yet, but whoever she is… whoever you are…
She’s supposed to be right here.
Levi’s eyes flutter over your face as if to search for injury or damage, but he doesn’t remove his arms from your body. The captain continues to cradle you as if you'll disappear, dissolve, into the mist that swallows your very waking daydreams.
So you lean closer, murmuring just under your breath with pure wonder.
Recognition.
“I know you.”
‘You know me.’
You recall standing right in front of him months ago, begging in a stable.
Those fateful few months before you really knew how close you were to the truth.
'You know me, but you won’t help me. Why?’
That doubt on his face, deeply ingrained in curbed expectations.
It's a memory you haven’t been able to shake, not since you awoke from the hospital.
Now it twists into something much darker.
‘Because you finally have an out.’
Profound sadness infects your stomach when one jagged edge aligns with another.
The memory, fresh as morning dew on a weed, sprouts before your very eyes.
Yes, you do know him.
Yes, he wouldn’t help you.
Because you’ve been down this road before.
But not like this.
Not wrapped up like two star crossed lovers.
(That’s why you hate me.)
— suddenly your back meets the ground.
A pair of hands abruptly push you, knocking you down to the forest floor with a whoosh of a small oof from your lungs.
Your eyes connect with the bright blue sky, the twinkling of green leaves, the expanse of a bird's wing flying high above.
I know this place.
Why can't you say it out loud?
In a hasty cloud of dust, Levi's boots keep up dirt as he scrambles off of you.
To steady himself, his pale palm presses to the tree trunk. He heaves once, twice, before exhaling fully.
Breath finally returns to his body. What once was pale now has color.
When you eventually turn your gaze to him, he glares directly at you, but it isn’t cruel.
Feral, maybe, and diluted in his own confusion, but not cruel.
(You’d never witnessed someone so beautiful in your life.)
In a new light, you finally see him — a mirror image of two worlds, old and new. Of what your body misses to its very core. Of what your mind wants to remember, to know as intimately as it once did.
Slowly you roll to your belly and push up with your arms. You draw up on one knee, your hand instinctively raising to graze your neck.
There.
The silver pendant, tiny and profound, remains intact.
The fall didn’t destroy it.
Immense relief floods your system, and your fingers cradle it like a lifeline.
'You don’t own anything. Now you do.'
That melodic baritone guides your ghost of a hand, adhering one more piece to the puzzle.
A fuller frame.
All you want to do is run to him, speak to him, hear his voice, but all you can do is watch as he cycles through the motions of getting his shit together.
Struggling through stages of anger, betrayal, relief, and longing —
Before addressing you as Captain Levi would.
Because he doesn’t know.
He didn’t hear.
(You didn't say.)
“Are you out of your mind?”
An ironic question, all things considered.
Your lips part to answer, but his finger raises to warn against that judgment.
A curtain of dark fringe hangs over his eyes, shoulders heaving.
“Direct insubordination against your superior,” he spits, but the edge to his voice is frayed.
He’s barely hanging on by mere threads. You want to knit them back together so badly.
“And endangering the entire squad–”
“Levi—"
“Oluo would have been fine, but you? You weren’t ready.”
Standing on both feet now, you ignore the dirt and debris on your white uniform and take a step forward in earnest.
“Levi, if you would just—”
“I didn’t ask you to speak, James.”
His bark is as cold as ice, causing you to stop your pleas right in their tracks.
Your own wide eyes stare at him as he reprimands you, seemingly unhinged by what has transpired.
Your mouth shuts into a thin line, willing yourself to hear him out.
To hear him.
Piece by piece, the image fills—
“Commander Erwin was wrong to put you back in the Scouts," Levi growls. It’s spoken as if to convince himself of that very truth. “Abandoning your horse, defying my orders, acting without any regard for your fellow squad mates—”
He seethes, a flicker of rage fluttering across his face.
“—the recklessness of your actions could have cost not only your life, but the lives of my squad.”
“Our squad,” you correct boldly without realizing you’ve said the words out loud.
Wrong answer. His anger only grows.
“My,” he corrects viciously, “squad. You are a—”
“—Lieutenant, which is practically the same rank as you,” you blurt with your own anger, the adrenaline flushed through your veins as newfound familiarity seeps into your veins. "The titles don't mean anything. It's just shit made up for people like us."
“Excuse me?” he growls, and you don’t let up.
“And I know Commander Erwin has always favored you more, but you only pull ahead of me by two goddamn months in the Scout Regiment,” you desperately rasp, the excitement too great, “so shut the hell up and listen to me, Levi Ackerman, because I know you.”
Exhaling your frustrations in heavy heaps, you refuse to cower.
There is no reason to fear this man. There never was.
"I know you," you repeat, defeated.
As if you've confessed at the foot of his altar.
Levi, despite all of his anger, turns his chin sideways with a growing bewilderment.
Now that you speak, you can see the dots connecting behind his very eyes.
All you can do is hope — all you have is hope.
When he doesn't say anything, you step forward and continue.
"This whole time. This entire time you've tried... you tried to shut me out because you knew that if you did, I'd walk away."
"What?" Finally, he speaks, but his voice drops with caution.
"You said you wouldn't shut me out."
"And I didn't."
"But you wanted to give me an out, right?" you remind. "That's what you told me the day in the stables at the cadet camp."
His teeth grit. "I told you—"
"That day, you agreed to give me a second chance, but you hoped I'd get too scared in the forest and run the other way. Except I've seen things and—"
That grit dies instantly. "Wait, seen things?"
"Yes, I've seen pieces, Levi," you admit. "Pieces."
"Of—?"
"Us. Of my life." Your fire dies. "Of our life."
His jaw clenches so hard that his teeth could shatter.
Your shoulders drop, defenseless. Your hand touches the back of your head, trying to feel for where you might have hit it on the ground back then.
"You ran from me in that hospital in Trost when I woke up. You saw I couldn't remember you right away, so you thought..."
A small laugh of relief exits your mouth before you can stop it.
There are so many black spots in your mind's eye, but…
His face paves the way.
Four hearts, staring up at a skyless night; now only two remain.
"Damn it, you really thought I would never remember you when you were my entire life."
Falling.
All you’ve ever done is fall.
On your back, as a child in those fighting rings in the Underground City.
On your side, struggling to learn the inner workings of stolen ODM gear while a rambunctious boy with ash-blonde hair laughs to the sky.
On your front, when two strong arms pulled you on top of him, lips crashed to yours.
Yet Levi always held out his hand and picked you up.
Now his fists are translucent, tight at his sides, as your eyes meet.
“And so you pushed me around in hopes that I'd leave you here," you conclude sadly, "all while you blamed yourself for the rest of your days for my mistake — right?”
It’s as if you’ve confessed you’re a titan in the flesh.
Levi staggers back, the clink of his ODM gear rattling as he moves.
His eyes flutter all over your face, studying, searching—
“What the hell are you saying?” the captain croaks, unlike himself.
He stares, clearly waiting for the final blow, like you hold his entire life in the palm of your hand.
Oluo and Petra are somewhere.
And wherever they are means Gunther and Eld are likely not far behind.
They’ll approach at any moment to regroup with the Captain.
But you need him to understand—
Levi's jaws clenches again; an overwhelming flurry of emotion settling on his tongue.
He looks two seconds away from detonating.
"What did you remember?" his voice cracks, the facade shattering. "Just say it, damn it, what the fuck did you remem—"
“James!”
The panicked voice of Oluo shouts from the sky.
Petra follows not long after, attaching to the base of the tree trunks to softly find a landing on her feet.
The rest of the squad follow suit, eyes wide.
“Whoa, are you alright?” Oluo repeats, rushing forward. “The hell just happened out there?”
“Her gear got caught,” Petra replies with equal urgency. “I saw it when Captain Levi took off after you two.”
“Her gear?!” Oluo yelps.
The two of them rush over while their hands reach out, swiping your emerald cloak up and away.
They duck their attention to the gear to assess the damage.
The ODM canisters don’t look particularly busted, but the wire dangles helplessly without its spike.
You note just how nervous everyone looks.
Because everyone knows the story, you realize deep in your belly.
The story where a member of the Levi Squad fought titans and got her gear stuck, resulting in a catastrophic head injury where her memories were no more.
The one where they nearly lost one of their elite, only to result in that woman becoming a completely blank slate.
Someone that they'll never get back.
Except she's screaming in your head, slamming against your skull.
I'm here! I'm here, don't you see? I'm still here!
Eld and Gunther quickly descend next, their feet pattering with the quickness towards where you stand.
The squad surrounds you with a million questions, checking your head should there be damage.
Petra even places a gentle hand on your heart, but it’s hammering.
Alive.
Levi says nothing, does nothing; his chin ducks to his emerald collar, allowing his squad to have their time.
“You scared the shit out of us,” Gunther admits with a sigh.
“The hell were you thinking?” Eld adds.
You sheepishly shake your head, eyes still attached to Levi. “I-I wasn’t—”
“I had it, James,” Oluo counters, cutting you off. “I had that titan. You didn’t need to go back for me and almost risk your damn life.”
“Hate to say it, but I agree with Oluo,” Petra replies with a soft sigh, before pulling you in for a small hug. Your arms remain lamely at your sides. “You didn't need to prove you were badass to us, alright? We know." She lets go. "How did you cut yourself loose?”
“She didn’t.”
Levi’s voice breaks through, stopping everyone in their tracks.
He turns on a heel away from the squad, head remaining in a bow, and walks in the direction they'd arrived from.
“I caught her.”
You note the changes in expressions on the rest of the squad's faces.
Recognition smooths over their tired lines, like the significance isn’t lost on them.
Suddenly they duck their chins, too, as if ashamed for gossiping.
Only you remain with your head up, eyes square on the captain.
He does not look your way.
“Outing’s over. We’ll just have to break Four Eyes’ heart and tell them we didn’t capture any of those bastards today.”
“But we didn’t even make it halfway through,” Eld starts, turning his boot towards the captain with surprise. “We can go further.”
"Wait, we managed to clear the forest?" you ask without thinking, causing Eld and Oluo to glance your way.
Oluo’s eyebrows slide high to his hairline.
Eld’s narrow to a point.
“It… was,” Eld slowly, carefully, explains, “but the mission you — the one that you — Wait.”
"People still made it to the other side after I fell?" you exhale.
They made it.
The Scouts managed to push to the end of the forest.
The mission wasn't all for nothing.
A flurry of confused relief floods your system, yet the squad looks at you with pure confusion.
“...none of us told her about the forest debrief from last year yet, did we?” Oluo inquires, pointing to Petra. “Hey, did you snitch?”
“Huh? Snitch?!” Petra yelps. “What the hell would I snitch about? It’s not like it's a secret to anyone here what went down.”
“Yeah, but she didn’t make it long enough to see the end of it,” Gunther replies, rubbing his chin between his thumb and index finger. “And we all agreed not to bring up said mission when she woke up until she was cleared by that doctor guy she saved.”
“Doctor?” you blurt under your breath, blinking. "That I...?"
That you saved…
Albeit foggy, you remember the other team that fateful day.
Miro squad.
There were so many names, so much chaos…
You struggle to remember the finer details, but there was someone named Rini.
An older man — or did he just look weatherworn from war?
Was it the same man from Trost?
“Wait. James.” Petra rounds you, searching your face with budding excitement. “Do you remember the last mission you were on? Is that why you’re—”
“I said the outing’s over.”
Levi's command bites off her question, and Petra falters.
“I already have one shithead disobeying instructions. Is this going to become a trend?”
The squad goes silent, turning to their captain.
“Get the damn horses back,” the captain growls. “We’ll reconvene as a group back at headquarters. That’s an order.”
“Yes, sir,” they all respond in unison.
One after the other, they offer a look of condolences to you before ascending to the skies.
Leaving Levi and yourself to remain.
In the back of your mind, you remember the odds.
Forty to eighty.
The screams of terror.
The urgency to fly through the trees.
A formation of horses…
A corner of the puzzle is complete.
Help me.
Why won’t you help me?
“Levi?” you start, and you see his face flinch at your tone. “Can we talk?”
“Not here,” he replies curtly.
“But—”
“I said not here,” he grunts, turning his chin to regard you over his shoulder. “I’m not doing this here.”
When his eyes meet yours, they soften.
Apologetic.
As if he’s teetering on the brink of giving up completely.
“Go back to your quarters,” he urges. “Clear your head. Figure out if…”
Did his voice just crack again?
You can’t help but gravitate towards his orbit, boots gently stepping closer.
“...figure out if you mean it,” he finishes, stronger now. “If you really do remember — any of this. We'll reconvene and debrief back at headquarters, but I told you: I'm not feeding you our memories. If you think you know me, then say it with your whole damn chest and hold nothing back."
His chin drops, his black fringe falling over his eyes.
You can't see what he's thinking, how he's feeling, but the way his voice turns to a whisper breaks your heart.
"I can’t keep up with these false hopes anymore.”
The necklace on your sternum burns.
Although you have a million questions, a thousand apologies, a dozen pleas, and very few certainties, you say one thing in return.
"Yes, sir."
You both stand in silence, awaiting the horses.
He stares at the ground.
You continue staring at him.
I know you.
You're the only certainty I have.
Once the rest of the squad arrives, you mount your horse and keep formation.
The sun bursts free.
There are no more trees clouding your vision.
Ahead there is an expanse of grass, reclaimed by time.
(A new start.)
Levi Squad returns to headquarters without a casualty in tow.
Press Four For More Options. | Part Four.
Night comes around.
You do not call.
In fact, you don't call the Scout Services Hotline a single time that whole weekend.
As you scroll mindlessly through social media in your bed, fluttering between apps without retaining a single word or meme, your cell phone weighs heavily in your hand.
Don't call.
Just don't call.
It isn't like you're devoid of things to do.
Going out is an option.
Being around people may help your mood — but you don’t feel like unearthing from your snuggie poncho.
Putting on a movie can be a great distraction — but you know your attention span would barely last through the opening credits.
It was him.
Right there.
Right in front of you.
Levi from Scout Services, alive and in the flesh, holding your phone.
No amount of mental gymnastics can make you doubt otherwise.
He has a voice like no other; one that haunts your day dreams and soothes your nightmares, one that brings this sudden urge to do better for yourself—
Ironically, to be independent and strong on your own.
Which, actually, really fucking sucks now that you’re stuck with the decision to totally disappear from the gym, too.
(Kind of thwarts the whole ‘new me’ chest-puffing you’d started Friday with.)
So you make a final decision:
You still have to go to the gym Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Even if you say nothing, keep to yourself, remain a shadow, you have to go.
(There’s a fragile line drawn in the sands of reality. You can toe the edge, but you refuse to. This is his livelihood. You’re not delusional to believe you’re a main character exception.)
Coincidentally, Levi goes every day, too.
Your stomach flip-flops with the unsettling realization that your perch on a treadmill actually gives you a perfect vantage point to watch him as he sets his station up every morning.
Meticulously he sets towels down to place his shaker bottle and water thermos down, as if worried the ground hadn’t been cleaned overnight.
He even takes the disinfectant cloths and cleans every dumbbell he lines up neatly before starting his workout.
The dark-haired man truly is less-than-average in height, which isn’t a turn-off to you in the slightest, but his arms — his goddamn arms.
Levi wasn’t kidding when he told you that he could pick you up.
He could probably pick two of you up, one arm each.
They’re so toned, his forearms veiny from morning dehydration.
Training vigorously in his own world, not once does he notice that you’re the bumbling idiot that’s tripped on the treadmill (see: a few times) from dissociating.
Hell, he hasn’t a single fucking clue that you’re close enough to yell across the room to him.
Would he know?
That you’re Scarlet.
His, in some made-up world.
(Does your voice stand out in a sea of lonely people?)
The cleaning ritual extends to his cooldown, where he properly cleans each piece of equipment before nestling it back in its place.
Levi sits on his phone for a second, dropping down to a bench to scroll — text messages.
(Damn it, have you really resorted to minor stalking?)
As soon as he stands, though, you drop your chin to watch your sneakers rhythmically pass one another on the treadmill belt.
He passes like a ghost, evaporating into the men’s locker room without a word.
This is torture.
You miss him.
But you still refuse to call.
Can't — because in another world you may be his, but in this world, he is not yours.
.
.
— —
.
.
    Tuesday night rolls around and you decide you hate life.
Annie, Eren, Reiner, and Mikasa are already there by the time you walk into the downtown hotspot.
The boys as well as Mikasa are still in their suit attire from work, their ties loosened at their necks. Annie’s in a hoodie and jeans, clearly much more interested in having a comfortable evening.
If the emptied shot glasses are any indicator of the plans for this evening, then you steel yourself for one hell of a Wednesday.
You glide through the busy crowds of the bar towards the group.
Bodies upon bodies crowd this place — it’s never not a zoo at this hour, no matter the day. Saying excuse me would only waste breath.
A live band croons on the far end of the smoky bar, forcing everyone to talk ten decibels higher just to hear the conversation.
(Can’t you turn around and go home while you’re ahead?)
In the sea of people, a pair of emerald green eyes over by a cluster of tables in the right-hand corner catch your movement. They widen, recognizing your face, and a lopsided grin of surprise follows.
“Holy shit, she left her cave!” Eren yells, holding up a cheap beer in salute to your arrival.
(Thanks Jeager, you little fuck.)
You don’t hear what she says, but you can see Mikasa’s lips part in tandem with a sharp elbow jab straight to his ribs.
Eren instantly falters his salute, souring in pain.
“I know. Don’t be so shocked,” you state to your colleagues, leaning up against the circular high-top table. “Am I the last to show?”
“Nah, you’re right on time. Armin and Jean’re on their way,” Reiner grunts, holding onto a comically small cosmopolitan in his rather large hand. “Sasha’s on babysitting duty with Nicco.”
You look around the bar for any other familiar faces.
“And Connie?”
“Passed out,” Mikasa supplies. “Took edibles after work.”
“There’s no chance in hell anyone’s waking him,” Eren snorts. “Fucker’s toast.”
Reiner sighs. “For what it’s worth, Jean tried.”
“No, Armin tried,” Annie corrects, finally piping up. She holds something on the rocks — brandy? Whiskey? You can’t tell. “Jean just laughed and kept trying to draw shit on his face.”
“You didn’t see the Snapchat he sent?” Eren asks after a gulp of his beer.
You shake your head, knowing damn well you’ve avoided using your phone for the last several days.
Missed texts, abandoned tagged tweets, your streak in your mobile game ruined — anything so you wouldn’t be tempted to click that little number.
Damn it.
Enough wallowing.
“I’m gonna go grab a drink,” you state, disengaging with the table. “Anyone need anything?”
From your peripheral, you see a familiar mop of blonde hair walking towards your group. At his side is a much taller man sliding through the crowd, navigating the shorter one to the tiny table you’ve commandeered from the masses.
Armin and Jean.
Reiner and Annie shake their heads.
“Nope, I’m solid.”
“Good here.”
“Eren’s got the next round of shots,” Mikasa flatly states. “You’re fine.”
“Ha, hell yeah!” Eren exclaims, before he settles into a confused pause of silence. His head whips to Mikasa, blinking twice. “Wait, what?”
You don’t stick around for that aftermath.
Squeezing back into the lion’s den of people, you try not to get hit with any too-full beverages or waving hands.
You manage to weave and duck, eventually finding a small empty corner at the edge of the bar.
Success.
You rush to claim it before someone else can, your forearm on the wooden surface.
Holding up two fingers to get the one of the three bartender’s attention, she nods once to acknowledge she sees you — she’ll get there eventually.
Two empty stools are available, so you scoot onto the one closest to the wall while waiting for your turn and drop your purse onto the other while you situate yourself.
It’ll likely take a while if the busyness of the staff has anything to say about it.
An hour.
All you need to do is last one whole hour.
Chat a bit, mingle a little so everyone at work doesn’t think you’re a total goddamn recluse, then you can go—
“Is this seat taken?”
A question sounding to your left breaks your train of thought.
The seat.
The one next to you, where your purse lay.
Way to go, dumbass.
You answer on autopilot, not thinking twice about it.
“Oh — shit, yeah. I mean, no! No it’s not. I’m sorry.”
As your torso turns to grab your purse off of the deep red stool, your eyes drop to make sure nothing spills out of it.
“Hold on, let me just move—”
Your chin lifts to find yourself staring eye to eye with Levi.
Wait.
Levi?!
His cheekbones look even sharper under the warm hue of the bar lights overhead, lips parted like he was interrupted in asking a question.
The whites of his eyes grow more prominent with every passing second, making the blue-gray color of them stand out in stark contrast to the black curtain of fringe falling against his temples.
The realization that you spoke — that he’s seen your face before — seems to be hitting him like a goddamn freight train.
Your blood runs cold as your own eyes round.
“...my stuff.”
Weakly you finish your thought, wishing for nothing but death right now.
Maybe a stranger, like a secret agent with wicked strength, will simply rush the bar and put you in a headlock and knock you out.
Maybe your drink will be poisoned.
You’re happy for anything so long as it’s swift.
Levi grunts in acknowledgement, slowly finding a spot on the empty stool beside yours.
Both of you swivel towards the bar, staring ahead.
Silence.
For what feels like hours, neither of you speak. The noise of the bar becomes overwhelming.
Somehow the surrounding voices feel amplified when you’ve lost your own.
It’s trapped between a thousand apologies and half a dozen explanations that sound worse than the one before it.
You need to get up.
Excuse yourself out.
Leave.
You won’t get your damn drink, but that’s fine so long as you’re not here.
“How’s your phone?”
Eventually Levi speaks, and you find yourself wishing he hadn’t.
The effect of his voice is even worse in person — so buttery smooth, the gravel much deeper in his chest now that there isn’t a phone receiver to dilute it.
“Not… damaged,” you reply cautiously.
“Good.”
Another stretch of silence passes, and you forget about ordering drinks altogether.
Your eyes drop to view his folded hands, how the veins protrude even when resting.
His fingers are slender, strong, and hate yourself for yearning.
You have to apologize.
This is crossing a line.
You need to—
“So—”
“I’m canceling my subscription.”
You blurt a fraction later than Levi, proclaiming your innocence before he can ever condemn it.
When you meet his steely eyes, they squint with curiosity.
From the crown of your head to your chin, he assesses in a serpentine pattern before eventually finding your eyes once more.
“How come?” he asks, leaning further against the bar top.
“I— how come?”
You repeat his question in surprise.
Wildly gesturing towards the space between you with your hand, you snort.
“Uh, because that’s the right thing to do in this circumstance? Because seeing you in person is borderline unethical?”
He hums at that, not giving you much to work with.
“And for the record, I did not stalk you to this bar.”
“Didn’t think you did.”
“I’m actually here with friends—”
“Why didn’t you say something?”
Levi interrupts, seemingly unbothered by your rambling.
“At the gym. I can make an educated guess and say you knew it was me from the second I opened my trap, but you didn’t say anything.”
Why isn’t he freaking out?
Shouldn’t he be freaking out?
Just as you open your mouth to continue professing your innocence, the bartender walks over and points to you.
“What can I get you?”
You blanch, no longer remember how to order drinks.
“I—”
“I got her tab,” Levi interrupts casually, tapping his index finger into the counter. “Two hard seltzers.”
Then he has the audacity to glance your way.
“Pineapple, right?”
Holy shit, he remembers your favorite flavor?
Is this a flex?
(It kind of feels like a flex; a way to say I know you, I was there.)
“...pineapple’s fine,” you murmur in return, hesitant.
The bartender doesn’t waste another second to rummage in the mini fridge on the other side of the bar for two slim cans.
For another agonizing thirty seconds, neither of you say a word.
He raises his chin to watch whatever sport’s game is playing overhead on the television.
You stare at your mirrored reflection in the bar backsplash.
This is real life.
The man you’ve spent hours talking to over the phone to, getting off to, is sitting right beside you, yet he isn’t trying to create distance.
If anything, he’s buying you a damn drink and asking you why.
Why didn’t you say something?
“I didn’t say anything at the gym because that would have been extremely inappropriate,” you finally argue under your breath, keeping the conversation strictly between you. “What would I have said? ‘Oh hey, guy I've paid to talk to on the phone every single night for the past week. Isn’t it crazy that I actually go to the same gym as you?’ That’s so creepy.”
When he says nothing, still staring at you, you continue to bury yourself into a deeper grave.
“I mean, I thought you lived, like… a billion miles from me. Maybe from another planet.”
His brows pinch with amusement.
“On Mars, or…?”
Oh.
He’s joking.
He’s actually joking about this.
You turn your chin, brow furrowed. “This isn’t funny.”
“It’s a little funny.”
He crosses his arms over his chest, and you have to force yourself to maintain eye contact.
“I wondered why you looked so scared of me on Friday. Thought maybe I smelled like shit from my workout.”
No, you want to say. Unfortunately it was the goddamn opposite.
“So you’re not…”
“Worried you’re a stalker trying to dox me because of my job?”
Levi blatantly finishes, and you wince.
Clearly he notices your embarrassment, because he sighs and relaxes his shoulders.
“I’m more pissed that you didn’t call all weekend, but then again, that’s the nature of the job.”
You both watch each other for a moment as the bartender returns, passing you both pineapple hard seltzers to nurse.
He pushes your can to your hand, nudging the icy-cold aluminum against your thumb, then picks up his own.
“The nature of the job?” you repeat, and he nods.
“People get bored. Run out of funds. Novelty wears off fast.”
Levi shrugs, sipping his drink.
“Just because you like talking to someone doesn’t mean they stick around. Wouldn’t blame 'em — shit gets expensive quick.”
“I just…”
You trail off, fighting to find the correct words to say.
“...I thought it wasn’t right to call again, knowing I knew what you looked like, so I didn’t.”
Explaining yourself makes your tongue feel sluggish, like you were caught red-handed in a crime you didn’t know you’d committed until hindsight.
“I can leave you alone,” you decide to add, holding your drink tighter. “Like I said, I’m here with my friends and… after all, you were doing your job. A great job. You’re kind of the reason I’m even here in the first place.”
Levi’s brow knits, and your eyes widen.
“Not like that!”
“Pretty shit at asserting yourself even in person,” he murmurs like it’s a cheeky inside joke, and he sips once more. “So how am I the reason?”
He’s not angry.
Hell, he’s conversational.
Not the least bit worried about how you’ve both managed to get here.
Might as well be honest.
“Because I decided to stop being a little less scared of the world,” you confess softly. “It— That’s why I got to the gym so early on Friday. I wanted to start doing strength training, like how you talk about how much you love it. And… I thought, maybe, I’d spend more time with friends. Get out there more. Be more assertive — beyond right now, obviously.”
The dark-haired man’s expression smooths at that in a mixture of recognition and surprise.
The slide of his brow is beautiful, and your heart squeezes at the sight of an animated Levi in the flesh, just as you pictured.
“Do you have to go back to your friends right now?”
At first you don’t quite register his question, but then it causes butterflies to flutter in your stomach.
He looks left to right, as if trying to find your troop of buddies, before returning his attention back to you.
“You don’t… want me to leave?”
Levi shakes his head.
You feel bolted to your stool, unable to move even if you wanted to.
Simultaneously you sip your drinks, keeping eye contact.
It feels intimate.
Too intimate.
“So, then…” You start slowly. “What does this mean?”
“Well,” Levi begins, mulling it over in his head. “Means the whole provider-client relationship has basically gone to shit. You know my face, now I know yours.”
“Right.”
“Then again, that professionalism was already well into a shit pile way before Friday morning.”
You blink, not following. “Huh?”
“There’s nothing in the company policy about what to do when you stumble into your client at the damn local gym, but there sure as hell wasn’t anything about…”
Levi trails off, clenching his jaw in debate.
“...about crossing the line I practically leapt over. I’m good at my job because of my detachment, but this was the only time I bordered on unethical myself. That wasn’t fair to you, and I’m sorry.”
Sorry.
Levi… was sorry?
The words blurt faster than you can stop yourself. “Why the hell are you sorry?”
His eyes widen with a budding uncertainty.
“I… just said I crossed the line?”
“When?”
“On the phone?”
“Okay, duh, but when?”
“Our last session.”
“So that was real.”
Levi actually got off to your voice.
If you weren’t in such shock about sitting here face-to-face with him at a local bar, then perhaps your ego would have, in fact, made a crash landing on Mars.
He considers his next words very carefully.
“It wasn’t supposed to be.”
Then he sips more before shaking his head.
“Look. It’s… a job a friend of mine got me. I’m not a real-life Casanova or any of that shit. Hell, most of my time was spent training punks to fight in a boxing ring, so I never had the energy for relationships or dating.”
You can't hide your surprise. “You were a fighter?”
He makes a noncommittal face.
“Loosely. Personal trainer, training in general — fell into it after I got out of the service.”
“Right, you were in the army,” you murmur, and the edge of his lips upticks at your recollection.
“A couple of months ago the gym I worked for went under, money got tight, so I thought I’d try it out. Guess everyone says it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but bossing fighters around and fielding horny-ass callers ain't all that different."
Levi turns his chin just so to regard you under a wispy black fringe.
“I can usually predict what someone wants. The people that call this hotline shit, they’re in and out."
He takes a pause.
"You, though — the second I picked up your call, you threw me through a goddamn loop.”
You use your nail on your index finger to absently scratch the side of your thumb, attempting to process everything he’s telling you.
"First night we spoke, actually, I ended up at this very bar to contemplate why the fuck I wanted you to call back. Didn't want you blowing your money on it, obviously, it's overpriced and ridiculous, but — it clearly shook me up enough for me to take then ten-minute walk in the middle of the night in the first place."
Ten minutes.
That length of time strikes something in you.
“So, your… office building isn’t far?” you slowly ask.
Levi shakes his head. “No, no office. I work remotely. Kind of the reason why I took the gig in the first place. I wouldn’t do this shit if I had an audience in a damn two-by-four cube.”
You’re not sure what possesses you to confess it, but you point past your shoulder.
“My apartment complex is actually six blocks down the street.”
Ten minutes away, is your implication.
His hand had raised to sip from his seltzer can, but it halts immediately.
His eyes narrow.
“The complex on Junction Ave?”
“Yeah," you say.
“Right across from—”
“The Reiss deli.”
That narrowed gaze shoots wide. “You’re shitting me.”
“You say the word shit a lot.”
“Baby, I live there,” he blurts.
“Wait, what?”
Now it’s your turn for your eyes to nearly pop out of your skull.
(You’re too shocked to even process what he called you.)
He huffs in a brief laugh, shaking his head.
“You gotta be fucking with me.”
“I’m not! Wait, you live in the same building as me?”
“You said Thomas was your goddamn mailman,” Levi states. “Do you know how many fucking Thomas the Mailmen there are in this world? I didn’t think we’d have the same one.”
Holy shit.
Oh, holy shit.
You sit up taller in your seat. “Wait, what floor?”
“Sixteenth.”
“I’m on the tenth!” you exclaim in your shock. “Holy shit, so you…”
Have been right above me this entire time.
Your phone buzzes, ruining your train of thought.
Reflexively you look down to see the preview of Annie’s message over your lock screen.
[A. LEONHART]: Did u die?
Right.
You’re here with friends.
“Friends wondering where you are?” Levi inquiries at the sight of your growing frown.
“Yeah, give me a sec.”
You swipe the screen north and type a reply.
[ME]: Talking to someone. Be over in a bit.
Annie’s reply is immediate, and you turn your phone from Levi’s view in mortification.
[A. LEONHART]: 🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆
[A. LEONHART]: WINGMAN??? NEED????
[ME]: NO! Do not come over here!
[A. LEONHART]: ok ok ok noted
[A. LEONHART]: i’ll keep jaeger to the left end of the bar
“Looks urgent.”
“Huh?”
You shoot a glance back up to Levi, who’s now angled towards you with his cheek squished against his clenched fist. His elbow props him up on the bar top.
“No! No. It’s just my friend Annie. She — is actually the one who gave me the number to that hotline in the first place,” you confess.
Levi hums in that delicious way you’ve come to crave.
“I don’t want to derail your evening. I’ve already taken you away from them for a while.”
Your heart is hesitant, but it grows despite yourself.
“If you want me to stay, then I’ll stay,” you quietly state. “I… liked talking to you. I mean, beyond the whole — you know.”
He nods once, setting his drink down.
“For what it’s worth, I don’t want you to disappear, either. My job’s not exactly corporate. Not many people can separate fantasy from reality. With you, I never had to bullshit what it was, but…”
Levi trails off, sighing heavily.
“...but I also understand if it’s just a fantasy, for you.”
Something nestles itself between the lines of his words.
Something he isn’t saying outright, sussing out if he has any right to try.
“Do you really mean that, Levi?”
That sigh turns into a curbed huff, smile fleeting but enough to bring your stomach butterflies.
“Damn. Sounds nice, hearing my name in person.”
Oh, sweet Jesus.
You could scream into your damn seltzer, but you decide to play it as cool as you possibly can.
“So Levi’s your real name?”
He nods.
“Not creative enough to come up with an alias."
Levi shifts, rolling out a shoulder.
"But to answer your question, I’m saying I… yeah, I mean it. I wouldn’t mind asking you out for coffee sometime, given we seem to run on the same gym schedule as it is. Just didn’t know if you wanted to leave it at the hotline and call it a day — no pun intended.”
Are you seriously hearing what he’s saying right now?
Does Levi want to step out of a fantasy and into your reality?
Your lips part with a million questions only to end up blurting a very stupid one:
“Are you single?”
That earns a bark of a laugh, causing his head to gloriously drop back, exposing his neck.
(All you want to do is sink your teeth into it.)
“Yes. Very,” he promises. “Are you, still?”
“Very,” you promise back.
“And my job doesn’t bother you?”
You haven't quite gotten that far, logistically, but it's only a coffee.
He isn't asking to marry you.
Besides, he talks about it like any other office job. You can't find any ill feeling toward it.
“Work is work,” you argue with a one-shoulder shrug. “Sure, it’s unconventional, but… I’m so used to not knowing what I want, or second-guessing what’s good for me, and I don’t think I’ve ever second guessed a damn thing with you.”
Bringing the seltzer back up to his mouth, Levi smirks against the can, mulling something over.
You smile in return, sipping your drink.
It's the truth.
He may not really know you, but he knows you.
Just as you're beginning to think you know him.
“Well, if you don’t get too wasted with your friends tonight—”
He steals a ballpoint pen from a dampened closed check from his left side.
Then he snatches a napkin from one of the bartending stations with lemons, limes, and straws.
Hunching over, he scribbles on said napkin, before turning a cheek to you.
“—and you end up going to the gym tomorrow morning—”
Levi then sits up taller, folds the napkin, and reaches for your hand resting on the bar top.
His skin is smooth.
Heated.
Your entire body melts to his whim as he turns your wrist over, palm facing up.
One by one his fingers unfurl your fingers, nestles the napkin in your hand, then closes your fist for safe keeping.
“—give me a call.”
Leaving a twenty on the bar counter, Levi lets go of your hand to slip off of his stool.
You say nothing as you watch him give you one last once-over, expression full of admiration, before turning into the sea of people.
A call.
Flexing your hand, you uncrinkle the napkin to read the number etched black on white.
Not the Scout Services Hotline.
No — his number.
Your attention flies back to the original spot where you've now properly abandoned your friends, but you know they'll forgive you for your absence.
Annie knows.
She'll cover for your abrupt disappearance.
On autopilot you yank out your phone, bypassing the texts from your friends, emails from work, and tap the little telephone icon.
Zero through nine appear.
Hastily you type the number, hesitation long gone, and press send.
One ring.
Two.
By the third, it abruptly cuts. You hear shuffling in the background. Cars beeping.
“Hello, Levi Ackerman speaking.”
Levi Ackerman.
Knowing his full name warms your heart.
Standing from your stool, you rise to your toes to search the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Levi stands there on the sidewalk, holding his phone up to his ear.
“Hi, Levi. It’s formerly Scarlet.”
Immediately he turns to the bar, searching the very same window.
Searching for you.
You smile to yourself.
"My schedule just opened up. I know it's a little late for some coffee, but..."
Trailing off, your teeth catch your bottom lip.
Be selfish.
"Are you free for some tea now?”
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
How are we feeling, Hotliner Nation? I teased that this may not be the end of this story. I'm not against writing a sequel, whether to continue the immediate story or time skip, but I wanted to see what people thought before I spoke too soon. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed our hotline journey together.
In the meantime I invite you to follow me here or subscribe to my AO3, as I have other projects in the works (including finishing the final chapters of my canon-based amnesia au with Levi, Silver Underground.)
The last two months have been such a wonderful journey, and I thank every single one of you for engaging the way you have. I never anticipated such a frenzy when I started P4, so sincerely, from the bottom of my heart - thank you for the comments, reblogs, inbox mssgs, etc. Every reblog gives this writer wings.
yes professor
professor! levi x reader
Yes Professor
a/n: i didn’t specify what your wearing i want you to wear the outfit of your choosing might be some grammar errors i wrote this really quick x
18+ MDNI
———————————————————————
god.
it was freezing cold on campus you could have sworn your outfit was warm enough before leaving home but it seems today’s weather proved you to be quite wrong.
your fast pace and the chilly wind blowing against you left your face flushed h when you arrived to Professor Levi’s lecture 10 minutes late.
“Oi!” he called, as you were trying to take the nearest open seat.
“is the class meeting time not convenient enough for you brat?”
face already red from the weather you shook your head “um.. no sir, my apologies it won’t happen again”
The professors eyes narrowed, “stay behind after class and we will discuss your tardiness”
you nodded and quickly took your seat. the lecture flew by, your mind was too preoccupied daydreaming thoughts of how your discussion might go. will he threaten to drop you from the class if your late again? you knew the professor to be very demanding of his students, which is why you always tried to avoid interacting with him as much as possible.
he was just so intimidating
your thighs clenched together in your chair while chewing on the inside of your cheek watching all of the students file out of the lecture hall.
finally when it was just the two of you in the lecture hall, you decided to make your way to the professors desk.
Professor Levi leaned over his large mahogany desk, hands pressed firmly on the wood watching intently as you made your way forward.
“So do you disrespect all of your professors by being tardy or is it just me?”
“just you sir”
shit! you didn’t mean it like that
“well what i meant was this is my first time being tardy sir”
he cocked his eyebrow in sudden interest
“and why is it that you were late?”
you shift uncomfortably, “the cold weather sir, i wasn’t prepared…for the uh… cold”
his eyes rake over your frame, analyzing your clothing.
“Yes… so it seems, that outfit doesn’t look warm enough at all.”
the flush finds its way back to your cheeks, instinctively looking down to your feet in attempt to hide your embarrassment. Levi makes his way around his desk to lean against it right in front of you. his long fingers grip your chin forcing your eyes to meet his, but his gaze is too intense, you have to shift your sight to his fore arm where his white button down shirt sleeves are rolled up to the elbow.
“tch. eyes on me brat”
your eyes instantly shift up to meet his gaze once again, unable to form any words. he didn’t find the moment awkward at all, his hand still on your chin he sits in the silence just staring at you.
god i wish i knew what he was thinking
his hand moved to the base of your skull, while his fingers were laced in your hair he said,
“this may be your first offense but i can’t let you go unpunished”
your eyes widened & your body went rigid not understanding his words.
Levi felt his cock twitch in his trousers, unknowing of the wetness currently gathering in your pussy.
Levi takes a step back eyes still locked to yours
“turn around, arms behind your back”
not a single thought passed through your brain as you immediately obeyed. Levi places his hand between your shoulder blade immediately rousing a light gasp from you. he pushes your front down onto the desk the side of your face gently meeting the cool wood. your mind is racing not understanding what actions led to this moment.
you are once again made aware of Levi’s presence when you feel him make his stance, rutting his fully clothed cock against your ass. your eyes go wide again not expecting to feel him so hard already.
Levi leans down whispering into your neck
“why is it that you avoid making any contact with me but you are always wearing something so tantalizing in my presence” placing an open mouth kiss on your neck
you try not to gasp
how did he know that i purposely avoid him?
your body moves on its own accord instinctively wiggling your ass against his cock
“ oh. oh. i see, you secretly wanted a little extra attention from your professor…hmm? is that it?” he says in a mischievous tone.
fuck. your so wet and your mind is racing so fast you can’t think of a response.
an open palm slap lands on your ass making your body jump while your hands are still laced together behind your back.
Levi rubs the front of his slacks against you again
his lips quirk up in a playful smirk
“answer the question” he says teasingly.
shit
your thighs rub together trying to relieve the tension building in your cunt.
you release a short breath, “yes! okay yes!” you hiss. “ i did want your attention but… well you make me nervous okay!”
the smirk still sitting on Levi’s face grows a little bit wider.
“i know”
another slap lands on your ass making you jump again.
“so tell me sweet girl, what do you want from your professor? do you want your professors fingers curled up into that tight cunt of yours? hmm?” he says rubbing the cheek that he just slapped.
fuck
your panties were completely soaked now
“yes” you whisper.
another slap lands on your already sore ass.
“ ah ah i can’t hear you. use your words sweet girl tell your professor what you want” he says with that same teasing tone.
your ass rubs against his trousers searching for friction.
“fuck, please yes, just touch me now”
that’s all Levi needed.
he pulled off your bottoms in one swift motion leaving your panties on.
“mmm.. what a sight” he says as he leans down against your body again. his mouth leaving sloppy kisses against your neck, one hand massaging your ass cheek and the other snaking it’s way up your shirt to play with your nipple.
you can’t help it, a moan escapes your mouth. your cunt is screaming for friction, anyway to feel relief.
Levi let’s out a small groan at the sound of your sweet moan, still stimulating your nipple.
“tell me, you have to tell me.. what do you want sweet girl” he says authoritatively
“please i need your fingers now” you gasp
“my fingers are already on you, you have to be more specific than that”
“fuck! i need your fingers in my pussy now”
without a word you feel Levi’s fingers moving your panties to the side just that sensation alone makes you want to burst, already letting out more small moans.
one hand still massaging your sore ass cheek.
you feel his deft fingers working your clit in a up and down motion.
your head goes light.
fuuuckk
you rock your hips against him in search of more friction. its all too much but not enough.
Levi hums again pleased at the sight of his sweet student coming completely undone for him. he presses his clothed cock against your ass snaking his finger up your shirt again to play with your nipple.
you have to bite down on your lip to keep from screaming. the absolute bliss of the feeling of his fingers motions against your cunt and your breast makes you cum hard on his hand.
he slows his motions letting you ride out your orgasm.
when you have finally come down his hands leave you and he silently redresses your bottom half while your still reeling from your high on top of his desk.
once your fully clothed he turns you around.
“email me your contact information. i’ll be in touch.”
he grabs his brief case and heads out the lecture hall.
did my professor literally just finger fuck me on his desk then leave?
you knew you couldn’t be too mad though.
Levi loves your thighs like he just wants to rest his head there and lay in your lap all day
when you two are out to dinner his go to resting spot for his hand is always nestled on or in between your thighs
speaking of thighs… 😏
Levi absolutely loves to let you use him for his body, by riding his thigh into oblivion. he loves the stark contrast of him being fully clothed and you completely naked going feral on his thigh
he always plays with your breast while singing praises into your ear like
“good girl, i want you to cum all over my thigh so i can fuck you in the shower okay? you think you can do that for me sweet girl?”
and of course you do
night air
Night Air
summary: you’ve been seeing Levi for a long time but you’ve grown tired of not knowing how he feels
tags: angst but it’s rewarded
———————————————————————
the night air was crisp on your skin. thankfully you thought to drag the quilt off of Levi’s bed on your way out the window.
this was your favorite spot, the shingled roof right outside of Levi’s chamber window had the best view of the night sky.
he’s probably looking for you right about now but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.
god.
you were just to tired of playing this game with him, never knowing what he is thinking or how he feels. you knew he had his reasons to keep his guard up, but none of his reasons had anything to do with you.
your done. you have officially given up on Levi.
as soon as you concluded that thought a throat clears behind you,
“ahem.. so this is where you’ve been hiding out, i should have known”
you don’t bother turning to face him.
you know exactly who it is, you would recognize that voice anywhere.. that voice you have grown to love so much.
a puzzled look settles on Levi’s face as he climbs out the window to take a seat next to you.
“don’t.”
“don’t what?” he says as he takes a seat next to you.
you finally turn to face him, just seeing that familiar stoic gaze almost makes you falter over your words.
“just… i just don’t want to see you right now” wrapping your arms around your knees bringing them to your chest to feel a sense of security.
“you do know that you broke into my room and stole my quilt right”
“yes well i can’t get this view anywhere else” you say as you lay your chin on top of your knees refusing to meet his hard gaze
“your angry with me” he says flatly trying to decipher the look on your face
“so perceptive” you said already having grown tired of the conversation
“tch. alright” he says as he quickly stands dragging you up with him.
“hey! what the fuck!” you say as he drags you back in through his bedroom window
swiftly bringing you to the bed setting you on the edge and kneeling between your legs.
why does he look so worried? you think.
you’ve never seen his face contort into such a position.
“tell me.”
“what?”
“tell me why you are angry” he says as he places his palms on top of your knees.
you take a quick breath in, not expecting this reaction out of him.
his brows furrow waiting for your response.
“i’m tired Levi, fuck i’m so tired. i can’t keep doing this. i can’t keep going through my days not knowing what we are, or how you even feel about me” you say as the moonlight pours in through the window. you feel tears welling up behind your eyes. you quickly close your eyes trying to prevent them from falling.
a knowing look settles on Levi’s face as he quickly stands gathering your hands in his. you finally look up at him with tear filled vison.
Levi let’s out a strangled breath his next words are going to be difficult to get out.
“im sorry, fuck. i am such an idiot”
your tear filled gaze still on him as he looks down at his hands tangled with yours.
“i’m bad with words, but that’s no excuse. i’m sorry i should have told you a long time ago how i feel.”
he lets out another strangled breath as he runs his thumb over your knuckles.
“i uh.. we’ll i love you”
the words fell over you so quickly you had no time to understand their meaning.
you continue to stare at Levi as your tears finally fall.
“fuck. i love you. i love you.” he says as he releases your hands to cup your face.
you notice a single tear falling onto Levi’s cheek as he quickly gathers you up in his arms.
you finally understand. he loves you too.
both your your lips meet in a desperate attempt to make up for the lost time.
I Cant Lose You
————-
you and levi were drinking tea in his quarters when the news hit.
“wall rose has been breached!” a cadet yelled through the door.
levi was the first to his feet, stalking over to you grabbing your hands with a desperate look in his eyes.
“this is going to be bad okay” his grip tightened on your hands.
“no matter what, i need you to stay close. keeping you alive is my number one priority next to killing those giant fuckers where they stand.”
———
shit
they were everywhere.
titans poured in through the gaping hole in wall rose.
all of levi squad watched the carnage taking place from a rooftop above the streets waiting on the captain's orders.
levi’s cloak flapped in the wind as he mentally strategized what to do next.
all you could do is watch the wheels turning in his head.
the captain finally turned to address you all, his face was unreadable as ever.
“eren i need you to use your titan’s hardening ability to plug that hole, just like the trost mission. the rest of us will make sure you make it there unscathed. this is your one job eren don’t fuck it up.”
eren nodded in response.
levi squad saluted their captain, “yes sir!”
the soldiers took to the streets below using their ODM gear, leaving you and levi standing alone on the rooftop.
your captain’s face grew softer now that it was just the two of you.
levi reached around you, grabbing you by the small of your back pulling you into his embrace.
“remember what i said” a concerned look fell upon his face as he looked into your eyes earnestly. “stay close no matter what. i can’t lose you.. not yet… not here”
levi didn’t allow you to respond, his grip tightened around your waist as the hook shot out of his gear propelling both of you through the street.
the two of you quickly separated, taking out the first titan you came into contact with.
your gear now being put to use, you sent your hook into the next titan’s shoulder blade as you flung by slicing its nape.
levi called to you from atop a nearby titans head,
“he’s on the move!” pointing to eren now in his titan form.
“let’s go!” he shouted as he initiated his gear.
you quickly followed suit and propelled yourself forward, falling in line next to levi.
from your birds eye view you both noticed the hoards of titans flowing in through the breached wall.
fuccccck this is all going to shit real quick
the whole first line of defense was taken out, eren was now going toe to toe with the swarm of titans.
“goddamn it” levi said as you both propelled through the air.
“we have to make sure eren makes it to the wall”
levi cocked his head in your direction, locking eyes with you, “remember what i said…you know what to do.”
you nodded. without a word you used your gear to skip from roof to roof in the direction of where the front line was just wiped out.
levi took the quicker route in the street below using the buildings stone walls to swing himself forward at a fierce speed.
levi made it to the pack of titans surrounding eren before you, slicing through nape after nape while you were not far behind.
you were one rooftop away from the carnage when the reinforcement team arrived.
thank the gods
you heard the whizzing noise of odm gear as you entered the fold with a flock of soldiers at your flank.
you quickly shot your spear grip through eren’s giant bicep, slicing through the muscle like a sword slicing through flesh.
using his massive form as leverage to fling yourself forward, flying feet first into a titans massive eyeball almost completely crippling its vision.
i’ll apologize to eren for that later. you thought laughing as you tried to pull your foot from the titans eye.
shit shit i’m in deep you quickly realized.
you hastily jabbed at the sludge beneath your feet with both swords not gaining an inch of leeway. you knew you were seconds away from the titan plucking you out of its eye.
sweat formed on your forehead as panic set in.
moments before the titan plucked you from its eye, memories you shared with levi started to flash before your eyes. you thought of all of the calm mornings you spent together, how the sun would pour through his window and how he would kiss your forehead when your eyes fluttered open, awakening from your blissful slumber.
“mmmm.. good morning sweet girl” he would say.
a single tear fell from your eye as the titan pulled you free from its eye. time moved so slow as it smashed your body under its fierce grip and lifted you high in the air.
you thought of levi’s words to you
“i can’t lose you.. not yet… not here”
not yet… not here… you thought as you became completely weightless.
the giant titan flung your lifeless bloodied form far and high like it was swatting a fly.
you didn’t feel the impact when your body landed on a nearby roof, your mind was already halfway to the other side, your soul was almost ready to cross over.
——
after tearing down dozens of titans, levi and the reinforcements were able to give eren an opening to plug the hole in wall rose using his hardening ability.
everyone took an exhausted sigh of relief, at the end of the hard fought mission.
levi turned in circles in search of you. you were nowhere to be found.
bodies of steaming dead titans surrounded him
no, no where is she?! he thought in a panic.
without notifying anyone, levi quickly leaped into action initiating his ODM gear, launching himself upwards above the rooftops.
levi saw a body atop of a roof a single block away.
no it can’t be. please don’t be her. he thought as he neared the sight of your bloody body.
levi disengaged his gear landing hard on the roof; he had never ran faster in his life.
finally reaching your lifeless body levi sank to his knees next to you. in complete delirium levi grabbed at your limp body pulling your lifeless form too his chest.
“no no no please no” he chanted as his body shook against yours.
tears fell freely from levi’s eyes as he lifted your head up, placing a kiss to your lips.
this wasn’t supposed to happen. no. you were supposed to survive this together. you were supposed to tell your children and grandchildren all the stories about how the two of you survived a world full of shit and destruction together.
“i told you to stay close! you weren’t supposed to go yet!” he screamed.
“no..no.. not you. not you sweet girl” levi said as he wept into your neck.
you were nowhere, floating in the cold dark lifeless void when you saw a faint light.
well this must be it. i hope levi’s okay. you thought as warmth washed over you.
for a split second you thought you could hear levi’s voice calling out to you like a sweet siren song luring you to shore.
i hope he knows how much i loved him.
blinking away tears levi placed two fingers on your neck desperately feeling for a pulse.
eyes wide, levi shouted. “MEDIC MEDIC I NEED A MEDIC NOW!” he gripped your limp body tighter waiting for help.
you had a pulse, it was faint but it filled levi with hope nonetheless.
——-
levi held your hand the whole wagon ride back to the castle while you were unconscious, and sat by your bed for days waiting… hoping for you to wake.
it had been three days and you still hadn’t come conscious yet.
levi couldn’t sleep a wink as the days passed, he grew more and more worried as he held your hand waiting for you to show any sign of life.
your body felt so heavy as your eyes fluttered open instantly finding levi’s gaze.
tears welled in levi’s eyes once again as he cupped your cheek.
“hey sweet girl, i’ve been waiting for you”
as you waltzed through ackerman incorporated, you almost felt bad about the fact that you were about to interrupt the meeting that levi was currently in.
almost.
levi’s been too preoccupied with work lately, and you missed him. you missed his presence, his touch, and his cock. right now you didn’t give a damn if he was the CEO or not. you were his wife, and you wanted attention.
the clicking sound of your heels tapping on the marbled floors echoed through the halls as you exited the elevator on the top floor of the skyscraper.
levi’s assistant hange, whom you’ve gotten to know pretty well over the years, stopped you before you could reach his office, “hello! mrs. ackerman! the boss man is having an important virtual meeting with our client in paris, he can’t see you right now.” they nervously beamed at you.
“hange, i love you but so help me god i will make sure you will be emptying out your office today if you don’t let me pass.”
hange let out a sigh as they moved out of your way knowing that you couldn’t be bartered with today.
levi’s brows quirked up in surprise seeing you enter his office, he quickly reverted his gaze back to the screen before him.
“yes we are very happy with the progress being made in paris erwin, please forgive me. it seems a family emergency has arised, i will touch base with you again tomorrow.”
levi signed off the call quickly rising to his feet to greet you.
“what’s wrong? has something happened? you never come to the office.”
“yes and you never leave it.” you laughed as you wrapped your arms around his neck pushing your chest to his.
“i just missed you.”
“oh is that so” levi looked intrigued as he gripped your hips tightening your embrace.
“so my little wife wants attention, hmmm.. is that it?” he said as he scooped you into his arms and setting you atop his desk.
“such a needy little thing aren’t you” he watched as you spread your legs for him.
“you know i’m not gonna go easy on you since you interrupted me at work right?” his voice was almost a whisper as he leaned in, leaving an open mouth kiss on the tender skin of your neck.
a small gasp left your mouth as your back arched forward, pushing your chest to his.
levi’s long fingers removed your dress straps from your shoulders, allowing it to pool around your waist.
your nipples pebbled, being exposed to the cool air of his office.
levi kissed your lips sweetly as he rolled your nipple between his fingers, using his other hand to grip your ass tightly.
you hips instinctively rolled back and forth, your cunt seeking friction from levi’s cock growing hard in his slacks.
the kiss grew to a desperate pace as levi reached down under your dress to play with you clit through the cloth of your panties, his other hand never stopping it’s motion on your nipple.
you breathed raggedly into his mouth, “ohh fuck”
levi’s cock twitched in his pants at the sound of your voice.
feeling a new sense of urgency levi’s finger stopped its attack on your nipple directing all of his attention to your soaking wet cunt.
levi kept his eyes on you as he rubbed circles with the pad of his thumb on your aching clit and used his other hand to pound your sweet spot deep inside you.
you let out the sweetest sounds levi had ever heard, his face just inches from yours watching your face contort in pleasure.
you could feel the heat forming in your belly. knowing you were close, levi’s mouth latched onto yours again in an all encompassing kiss.
you screamed into his mouth as your orgasm began to roll through you, causing your body to shake.
levi moved to look into your eyes again as you rode out your orgasm.
you were close to tears from the immense pleasure.
“i know baby, i know” levi said as his hands left your swollen cunt, to rest on your hips once more.
levi placed a kiss to your forehead, while reaching for the intercom on his desk.
hange’s voice rang through the device,
“how can i help you mr. ackerman?”
“hange clear my schedule for the day” he said still staring into his wife’s eyes.
a devilish smile formed on your face
you knew levi already had so much to worry about on his own, you never wanted to bother him with your issues. it was always the worst after a mission, it’s like your body doesn’t understand that the fighting is over, and your nervous system just keeps pumping adrenaline throughout your body.
you made a b-line straight for your quarters as soon as the horses were settled, not waiting for a debriefing. you hoped that the solitude of your bed chamber would calm you, but your chest only got tighter, as your hands kept at their persistent shaking.
you sank to the floor, while anxiety consumed your mind. with tears streaming down your face, you buried your face into your lap, forming into a ball of emotions on the floor.
your whole body was shaking when you heard footsteps approaching your door, you knew exactly who those footsteps belonged to. everything about levi was very distinct, including the sounds his boots made against the stone floor.
shit. shit. shit. he can’t see me like this. i can’t be just another burden to him.
he knocked with one knuckle as his voice came through the door, “it’s me, can i come in?” his voice carried a softer tone than usual.
you attempted to even out your voice, “no! i’m not decent!” you cringed when your voice came out thick with emotion.
levi didn’t heed your warning, stepping inside anyway. immediately sinking to his knees in front of you, levi pried your hands off your face, ignoring your resistance. the last thing you wanted was for levi to see you in the state that you were in.
your tear filled eyes finally met his worried gaze, levi felt some relief now that he could see your face, he so desperately wanted to make you feel better no matter what the cause for your distress was.
levi reached for your hand, and brought it to cradle his face while placing his hand on top, in an attempt to ground you back into reality.
you tried to pull your hand away, feeling deeply embarrassed by allowing yourself to be seen in such a vulnerable state. levi’s hand didn’t budge, holding yours in place still cradling his face.
“please just go, i really don’t want you to see me like this.” you said as you clamped your eyes shut, in attempt to withhold your tears.
levi shifted your whole body so that your back could rest on his chest, his arms held you tightly. “shhh.. i’m not going anywhere.” levi placed a kiss atop your head, “i’m here, i’m here” he said as he softly rocked your body in his arms.
finally feeling a sense of safety, you relaxed into his embrace.
you dreamt of levi tonight. it all felt so real, you thought you could truly feel levi’s mouth sucking on your already swollen clit humming sweet nothings all while doing so, sending shock waves throughout your entire body.
you could feel it all.
you felt your temperature rise under the stone cold grip that he had on your thigh.
your pussy clenched when two of his fingers entered you, tapping and curling up against that perfect spot deep in your cunt.
your back arched as you gripped the sheets tightly while screaming out in pleasure, having never felt like this before.
your eyes met his ravenous gaze, as your pussy clamped down on his fingers, your orgasm shaking you to your core.
“mmmm… such a good girl….i knew you would be.”
you woke with a start, with sweat pooled on your forehead. you quickly tried to take in your surroundings, not understanding how a dream could feel so real.
you spent the rest of the night trying to ignore your throbbing clit, but thoughts of him filled your mind.
vampire! levi x reader
summary: a vampire tired of eternal life finds his new obsession
word count: 5k
you were shivering in your sleep. it was the dead of winter and your cottage was drafty, even with a fire lit in the hearth.you had grown accustomed to the cold nights alone ever since your parents died from the plague back in 1802, leaving behind just their loving daughter and an old cottage.
the townsfolk labeled you as the local spinster, though you didn’t mind much.. there was truth in the name. marriage was something you had no interest in. you had everything you needed thanks to your parents. their death was still too painful to really think about, but you deeply wished that they could’ve had more time together.. you had never seen love as deep and true as theirs.
you knew you would never find an all encompassing love like the kind your parents shared, it was too rare.
you never spared a glance at any of the men in town and declined any proposal of courtship. there was nothing wrong with the town’s men, but you’d rather be alone in comfort than be in a mediocre marriage.
you never knew that you had caught the eye of the phantom of the ackerman manor.
he was no real ghost, though everyone in the land had named him as such, having passed down tales of the vicious blood sucker that lived in the old property on top of the hill.
he haunted the halls of ackerman manor for centuries, having grown tired of the boring existence of eternal life, that was until you caught his eye.
you consumed his every thought since that monumental day.
levi had just dismissed his butler after they brought him his daily glass of blood.
before he could take a sip, he quickly moved to the giant arched window when he took notice of a young woman walking across his land.
what a foolish girl. he thought.
is she not afraid?
hasn’t she been warned not to go near the ‘fearsome ackerman manor’?
had she not been warned that the bloodsucking ghoul had a habit of ravishing young girls just like her while draining them of their blood in the process?
——
from that moment on, levi decided he had to know this gallant young lady…intimately.
ever since that day levi felt the undying need to watch you from afar. he took on the role of voyeur, and the silent protector.
he was the crow at your window every morning, and the vampire standing in your bedroom every night.
levi would watch you in your peaceful slumber every evening.
you wore that same tantalizing chemise every night, and every night levi fought against his natural urges just seeing the delicate flesh of your neck being so exposed in the moonlight shining through the curtains.
it was this night that levi noticed you shivering under the covers after the fire in the hearth began to extinguish.
levi stood, still observing.
he knew that he wanted you in every way possible….yes, he knew that he wanted to ravish that beautiful cunt of yours, while drawing blood from the crook of your neck as his name rolled off your tongue in pure ecstasy.
but what was this emotion that you were unknowingly drawing out of him now?
without another thought levi walked over to the hearth, and stoked up the fire while placing fresh logs on top.
the room began to heat up once more, and your body finally stopped its shaking.
levi made his way back to your side.
he almost laughed at how this sleeping beauty who lay before him, was able to survive in this world before he came along.
————
it was another cold & grey day. the clouds above were gathered together tightly, only letting in the smallest pieces of sunlight.
the wind seemed to blow straight through your old winter coat as you made your way into town.
you knew you needed to purchase more firewood, you noticed this morning that you had let it run too low.
i could have sworn that i had plenty of logs just yesterday.
you pushed the thought to the back of your head, chalking it up to your forgetfulness.
————-
after filling your basket with fresh wood, you decided it would be best to stop by the seamstress shop to see if anything could be done about your old coat.
you genuinely hoped she could patch it up, there is no way you could afford a brand new winter coat.
you felt your body relax when you stepped into the warm shop. you were thankful to get out of the rigid cold.
the sweet elderly seamstress greeted you as you made your way through the shop.
“good morning young lady, it’s been quite a while since i’ve seen you”
“good morning ma’am and yes it has, i hope you have been well.” you smiled.
“as well, as an old widower could be.” she laughed. “what can i do you for?”
“it would be greatly appreciated if you could mend my coat ma’am”
A solemn look fell over her face, “oh no, this coat is too far gone” she said as she examined it.
“you need a proper coat, here i can get you measured. she circled you, attempting to remove the coat from your body.
you nervously waved a hand.
“oh that’s quite alright”
a shuffling sound came from the next room.
you hadn’t realized anyone else was in the shop, your face became flushed when you locked eyes with the most beautiful man you had ever seen as he exited the tailoring room.
time seemed to slow as he strolled through the shop.
it wasn’t his fine clothes that attracted you to him, no.
it was the air that he had about him.
his aura was positively magnetic, you couldn’t take your eyes off him. his presence felt so familiar.
you broke out of your daze when he addressed the shop keeper.
“thank you for the cravats, and when should i expect my coats to be ready?”
“they will be ready by next week, mr. ackerman”
she beamed, clearly excited from the business this man was bringing.
“oh! how rude of me!” she looked over to you,
introducing you to the man that was staring at you intensely. your heart went soft for a moment when she said your last name out loud, instantly thinking of your parents.
the man reached for your hand, time seemed to move slow once again as he brought it to his lips leaving a kiss on the top.
“levi ackerman, it’s a pleasure miss.” he smiled as he gently dropped your hand.
“may i ask what a beautiful young lady such as yourself is doing out in such a thin coat?”
you couldn’t think of a response, it was like all coherent thoughts left your brain ever since the two of you locked eyes.
thankfully the seamstress interjected, “she’s here because she is in desperate need of a new one.” she laughed.
“oh, no no i think i will keep this one. thank you.”
you said as you tried to rush out of the shop feeling utterly embarrassed by her comment.
“wait!”
you couldn’t resist that voice, you felt utterly compelled to turn around.
“please let me, i couldn’t live with myself if i let a woman such as yourself walk out of here without a proper coat.” levi pulled out his wallet.
you were about to object when he cut you off,
“please, i insist” he said, taking a slight bow.
———
when the two of you walked out of the shop you couldn’t help but notice how much warmer your new coat was compared to your old one.
“thank you so much mr. ackerman, how may i ever repay you?”
levi smirked, “please, call me levi, and there is no need to thank me, but if you would like to repay me i humbly ask that you repay me with your time.”
your brows furrowed in confusion.
“please allow me to host you for dinner tomorrow, at ackerman manor. it’s been quite a while since i’ve properly hosted a guest”
god who is this man i feel like i’ve seen him before
“oh of course it is the least i can do! it would be a pleasure!”
he kissed your hand again as his carriage arrived.
“the pleasure is all mine” he said as he stepped into the carriage.
————
you dreamt of levi that night. it all felt so real, you thought you could truly feel levi’s mouth sucking on your already swollen clit humming sweet nothings all while doing so, sending shock waves throughout your entire body.
you could feel it all.
you felt your temperature rise under the stone cold grip that he had on your thigh.
your pussy clenched when two of his fingers entered you, tapping and curling up against that perfect spot deep in your cunt.
your back arched as you gripped the sheets tightly while screaming out in pleasure, having never felt like this before.
your eyes met his ravenous gaze, as your pussy clamped down on his fingers, your orgasm shaking you to your core.
“mmmm… such a good girl….i knew you would be.”
you woke with a start, with sweat pooled on your forehead. you quickly tried to take in your surroundings, not understanding how a dream could feel so real.
you spent the rest of the night trying to ignore your throbbing clit, but thoughts of him filled your mind.
————-
you were quite surprised when mr. ackerman’s carriage arrived outside of your home just as you were heading out the door, you originally planned to travel to ackerman manor on foot. the elderly coachman greeted you by tipping his hat in your direction, “good evening miss, lord ackerman has sent me to retrieve you for dinner this evening.”
mr. ackerman continues to astound you with his generosity, “well how very kind of him.” you smiled as the coachman guided you into the carriage. “make yourself comfortable, miss.” the coachman gave you a short bow as he closed the carriage door and assumed his position on his elevated perch behind the horse reins.
you suddenly felt a pang of guilt shortly after the ride began, mr. ackerman has shown you nothing but kindness and you took it upon yourself to have filthy dreams about him last night. your guilt was short lived, when you thought about how he looked in your dream. levi’s eyes were heavy lidded and full of lust while he devoured you.
you pressed your thighs together when you thought about how the black strands of his hair fell all over his face while he was nestled in your heat.
you were shook out of your thoughts when the carriage ran over what you guessed to be a large rock. feeling embarrassed about your previous thoughts, you turned to the window to take in the view of the landscape, the scenery grew more and more beautiful the closer you got to ackerman manor. the hills rolled as far as the eye could see, and beautiful old oak trees popped up sporadically in your line of sight. there was one tree in particular that caught your attention, a black bird was perched on one of its branches. you couldn’t help but feel like you have seen this bird before, but when? or where? you couldn’t put your finger on it. the bird let out a loud screech and quickly flew away.
how peculiar.
wolves howled in the distance as the carriage ascended up the hill, arriving through the gates of ackerman manor.
you mentally commended mr. ackerman on his ability to keep up such an old home so well.
the estate that the gothic home sat upon was massive, there was a large flower garden that looked almost like a maze at the side of the home, and you could even see part of a greenhouse at the back of the estate from your view. you were in awe of the beautiful architecture, you never noticed just how beautiful the home was, having never seen it at such a close proximity.
the carriage finally came to a halt while you were still gawking at the beautiful architecture through the window.
heavy rain clouds loomed overhead as the coachman assisted you out of the carriage, “best get you inside miss, dreadful weather is on its way.”
you nodded as he swiftly led you up the large steps of the manor.
the great arched door creaked open when you reached the top of the steps, you turned to thank the coachman for his assistance but your words fell short. the coachman was already sitting on top of the carriage, slamming the reins against the horses backs, making great haste to get off the property as soon as possible.
you tried to process the coachman’s odd behavior, but a voice turned your attention back to the massive entryway, “ah! you must be lord ackerman’s honored guest of the evening! pleased to meet you, the names hange. i am lord ackerman’s lead butler.”
you smiled at the butler, “pleased to meet you hange.” you reached your hand out in attempt to shake their hand, but hange seemed to have misunderstood your gesture and latched onto you hand tightly, as they pulled you through the doorway laughing while doing so. “let me show you to the dining room. lord ackerman will join you shortly!”
everyone seems a bit odd around here. you thought as the daffy butler led you through the grand entryway.
the two of you passed a massive staircase lined with tons of antique portraits of whom you presumed to be the ancestors of the ackerman family. the inside of the home was even more beautiful than the outside. you were in complete awe of the gigantic chandeliers that hung from the ceilings, while stone archways led the two of you through each room.
“you know, you are our first guest in quite some time.” hange said as they opened the door to the dining room.
“really? with such a lovely estate i thought mr. ackerman would host guests quite often.” you said as you took in the sight of the dining room, which you would consider a dining hall because of its size, the table itself had to be 30 feet long.
“it’s true, mr. ackerman isn’t much of a people person.” you were surprised by their statement, levi seemed to be a very personable man in your opinion.
hange led you across the room, and pulled a chair out for you next to the head chair of the table. you were grateful to be sat so close to the large fireplace that emitted heat throughout the room. your bones were finally able to defrost from the freezing weather outside.
“i'm so glad you finally decided to join us, mr. ackerman will be down shortly.” they said as they quickly left out through the servant door.
“im so glad you finally decided to join us.” what did they mean by that?
you were too busy racking your brain over the butlers peculiar statement, that you didn’t hear the lord enter the dining hall. you finally took notice of the man when he arrived at his seat at the head of the table. your brain went into overdrive at the sight of mr. ackerman, he was unnaturally handsome, carrying an air of elegance and sensuality with him everywhere he went.
levi’s gaze landed on you, as you took in the sight of him dressed in a black tailcoat that had a striking contrast over his white dress shirt and cravat. still towering over you, levi reached for your delicate hand, slowly bringing it up to his mouth placing a languid kiss on top. you couldn’t help but take a sharp breath in, the gesture caused heat to rise in your cheeks.
“please forgive me for my tardiness, it seems i lost track of time.” he said as a male servant brought you a plate of ham and potatoes, while another servant placed a bowl of golden brown rolls, and a large carafe of red wine in front of the two of you.
“please it was no inconvenience at all, i am honored to be your guest this evening mr. ackerman” you said as levi poured you a glass.
“please, i really must insist that you call me levi, mr. ackerman is far to formal.” you smiled as he placed a full glass of wine in front of you.
“okay levi, since we are ridding ourselves of formalities, why do you not have a plate in front of you? too shy to eat in front of your guest?” you halfheartedly teased as you took a sip of your wine.
levi chuckled at your chide, as he reached for his glass. “well, i must apologize to my honored guest, it seems i am still full from my meal earlier today.”
the two of you partook in flirtatious banter throughout the rest of the meal, as the weather grew more and more turbulent outside.
the fire had grown weak as the time passed, and you were feeling quite buzzed once the two of you finished the carafe of wine.
you rose from your seat, deciding you wanted to observe the erratic weather of the night. you immediately regretted your decision when your head began to spin from the movement, causing you to trip on your way to the window.
levi moved with impossible speed, catching you on your way down. you were breathless when levi looked into your eyes, holding your body against him tightly. “i think that i have been a terrible host. it seems i have gotten my beautiful guest completely drunk.” he said as his lips were just inches away from yours, just begging to be kissed.
beautiful?
you snapped out of the trance that his eyes had on you.
“how did you reach me so quickly? you were still seated when i fell.” you said, still gazing into his grey eyes.
levi laughed, “i was next to you the whole time.” levi kept his arms around you as he lifted you to you feet.
feelings of embarrassment washed over your body, “oh i’m terribly sorry, i’ve made a fool out of myself. i haven’t drank in a while, i must have lost my tolerance.”
levi looked at you sympathetically, as he reached a hand up to cup your face, “please don’t apologize, i will arrange a room to be made up for you tonight, the weather is much too volatile for you to travel in any way.”
you shook your head about to turn down his offer when he interjected, “please, it is the least i can do. i would be an awful host otherwise.”
there was something about his eyes, staring into them immediately convinced you to stay.
———-
hange showed you to your room, having already drawn you a warm bath in the connecting bath chamber. you weren’t surprised that it was just as beautiful as the rest of the home, although this room was much more feminine than the rest. a large white vanity sat in the corner, and a four postered bed with silk curtains was situated in the middle of the room, bathing in the moonlight that washed through the large arched windows.
hange left out a fresh chemise for you to sleep in on the bed. you moved to examine the undergarment, it looked brand new. the fabric was so fresh, it felt like it was crafted just hours before.
why does levi keep fresh chemise’s on hand? you wondered after you were freshly bathed and clothed in your new chemise.
you stopped short before crawling into the large bed noticing that the weather had cleared up, you gazed at the large greenhouse through your window, wishing you could see all of the plants and flowers up close.
multiple wolves howled in the distance as the moon came into clear view from the passing clouds.
movement in the greenhouse below made you redirect your gaze, you squinted trying to get a better view, you thought you saw a dark figure moving around in there.
the oddest sensation fell over your body, you immediately felt compelled by some invisible force to make your way to the greenhouse.
you tried to shake the thought away with no success, your body betrayed your mind by instinctively moving towards the door. you knew sneaking out of your room was a terrible idea, what if you were caught roaming the dark halls?
your mind and body finally fell in tune with each other as you tried to make your way through the labyrinth that was ackerman manor.
you somehow found yourself traveling through the servant hallways, hoping and praying that it would somehow lead you into the outside world.
the stone passageway finally led you to a wooden door, upon opening the old door cold air poured over your body as you were greeted with the view of the night sky.
you immediately regretted not putting your coat as your nipples hardened under your flimsy chemise, but there was no time to turn back, your new found curiosity compelled your body to keep moving forward.
you crossed your arms over your chest as you trekked across the property, trying to conserve as much body heat as possible. you finally reached the glass doors of the greenhouse, you rushed inside immediately closing the doors behind you to keep out of the night air. you let out a sigh of relief as you made your way through the rows of plants.
just like the manor, the greenhouse was massive. the dome-shaped structure housed many beautiful plants, most of which looked completely foreign to this region.
you continued to make your way through the rows of plants and flowers, the rows seemed to go on and on. you felt that your curiosity was amply rewarded when you entered a room full of red roses, their pleasing aroma surrounded you while dancing on top of your skin.
“it’s considered most inappropriate to snoop, you know.” you gasped as a deep voice cut through the silence from behind.
you turned to face him, “i’m sorry mr. ack-“
“just levi, remember?” he said, cutting you off. his pupils dilated, seeing you moving about in the night dress that he bought just for you. levi’s eyes raked over every inch of your body, he has seen this all before on the nights when he would watch you sleep but, it was so much better seeing you like this while you were awake, looking at him with those wide eyes. levi felt his cock twitch at the sight of your hard nipples rubbing against the thin material.
“i’m sorry… levi, i guess my curiosity got the best of me.” you said feeling ashamed.
“please don’t apologize.” has said as he moved closer. you gulped, feeling exhilarated at levi’s close proximity. levi felt your heart rate jump, causing a smirk to appear on his face.
“they’re beautiful aren’t they?” he questioned as he plucked a single rose and handed it over to you.
“oh yes, very beautiful.” levi’s eyes never left your face as you spoke, he didn’t understand how he could come to feel for anyone this way, much less a mortal. you were an enigma to levi, your presence alone made him feel drunk on lust, and maybe even love, he didn’t really know. levi knows that he has never been good at understanding or expressing his emotions properly.
levi’s eyes went wide when the smell of iron infiltrated his senses. you looked down to your finger that the rose just pricked, immediately bringing it to your mouth to suck the spec of blood away.
all previous thoughts evaporated from levi’s mind. now in predator mode, levi lurched forward paralyzing you under his grip. one arm locked around your waist while the other held your neck in place. it all happened so quick, levi buried his fangs into your neck, feeding off of your sweet blood, he could feel himself growing drunk off the taste. your mind didn’t understand what was going on, you only heard the lewd wet noises levi was making on your neck. your eyes rolled to the back of your head, there was no pain, no. there was only pleasure, it’s like levi’s fangs were your personal aphrodisiac in that moment. you felt your cunt begin to throb under your thin dress while levi was feasting upon your flesh. you didn’t understand why this was turning you on.
levi had no control, his only desire was to suck you dry, until he heard a moan escape your mouth. the sweet sound of your voice brought him back to reality, levi retracted his fangs. a worried look fell upon his face as he lifted your limp head, trying to gauge how much life was left in you. you met his gaze with heavy lust filled eyes, immediately closing the distance between your mouths. this time you were the one who had no control, your arms and legs wrapped around him as he hoisted you up on his waist, joining you in the hungry kiss. your tongues clashed together passionately as you moaned into levi’s mouth.
levi was utterly surprised by your reaction, but he wouldn’t question it, not now.
blood dripped all over your white chemise while your pussy dripped all over levi’s shirt. you had never experienced anything this erotic before, you were full of lust right now and you couldn’t bring yourself to care for what kind of monster levi is in this moment.
levi crouched down, laying you gently on the ground below, his mouth left yours causing you to whine in the absence of his lips. levi smirked down at you as he lowered himself to lick up all the excess blood on your chest, you instinctively wiggled your hips in search of friction as he slowly pulled down the top of the chemise exposing your chest to him. levi’s blood drenched lips latched on to your hard nipple while rutting his clothed cock against your clit, causing you to scream out in pleasure.
“mmm fuck, your so good for me.” levi said as he popped two of his fingers into his mouth covering them in blood and reaching down to work circles on your clit.
“oh! fuck!” you yelped as heat began to pool at the base of your stomach.
“yeah?” levi questioned as he watched your face intently.
levi’s fingers changed course, he moved to curl his long fingers deep inside you tapping gently on your sweet spot.
you moaned levi’s name over and over as your pussy pulsed around his fingers. your orgasm crashed through you.
without wasting a moment levi freed his cock from his trousers immediately sheathing himself in your overstimulated cunt. levi moaned in your ear as tears of pleasure filled your eyes.
levi’s cock stretched you wide as he worked his fingers through your hair looking into your eyes.
“so.. fucking.. perfect.” he praised you as his warm cum filled you to the brim.
————
levi scooped you into his arms. you were too worn out to walk. you whole body was so tired you immediately nodded off on the trip back to the house.
Hey!
I'm in love with your blog! QWQ
I was wondering if I could request a fic about Levi, where his s/o doesn't get back from a simple supply mission but everyone else did, and Levi has a break down at front of his cadets or the veterans or both (whatever you prefer) because he thinks it was his fault or this is his life where he gonna lost everyone but after few days his s/o get back to the headquarters with cuts and bruises after those hard days outside of the wall and Levi can't believe it is real and not some daydream about his love. Long story short I need an angst fic with happy ending! QwQ
Thank you so much, feel free to ignore this if you don't like it or if you don't want to. You're amazing and I hope you have an amazing day!
“i won’t let you do this.” a stern voice sounded off in the night air as you mounted your horse. you sighed, looking at the stars that peaked out behind the tree tops above you. not bothering to turn around, you knew who that voice belonged to, you were intimately familiar with it.
“it’s not your decision to make, i have to do this with or without your blessing. this is bigger than both of us.” you said, grimacing at your own words. you wished you could choose to be selfish, and stay behind with levi. part of you thought that all of humanity could be shot straight to hell for all you cared, as long as you and levi could be here together in the sanctity of the wooded fortress, but you couldn’t afford to think that way. you had a job to do.
levi made his way around your horse yanking you down in the process, thankfully he caught you on the way down. levi’s strong arms pinned your form to his chest, so tightly that you felt as if your lungs could collapse under the pressure.
“fuck whoever’s decision it is, it’s my decision that i can’t let you go.”
your heart melted at the sight of Levi being so worried over you. his hand held a firm grip on the small of your back, while the other held the base of your head. his strong hold made your body turn to putty in his embrace.
your voice came almost as a whisper, “it’s a stealth mission levi, you heard the commanders orders.” your tone faltered when his gaze intensified. you reached a hand up to cup his face in an attempt to ease him, “it’s for the good of humanity.”
he nodded your hand away, “i don’t give a fuck about humanity. you are what matters to me, and i need you to stay alive. this mission only puts your life in jeopardy.”
you ignored his protest and cupped his face anyways as a frown formed on your face.
levi wasn’t really mad.. you knew that. he was scared, and so were you but you knew that if you followed the commanders instructions correctly, you should be back to the fortress by dawn, back in levi’s arms once more.
“you know i love you right?” levi’s face finally softened at your words, a smile formed on your face at the sight. “the sooner i can do this, the sooner i’ll be back here with you. it’s a simple in and out mission, i just have to sneak into the MP’s base, snag the supplies, and get out of there. simple as that.”
levi rolled his eyes at your oversimplification.
“yeah, and you could get caught and killed in the process.” you leaned in closer, your lips were just a hair’s length distance away from levi’s, “you trust me don’t you? am i not capable, captain?”
his jaw clenched, “goddamn it, you're not going to let me win this one are you?”
you winked at your boyfriend playfully, “i’ll be back before you know it.”
levi’s grip tightened on your neck, as he closed the distance between your lips. the kiss was much more passionate than usual, your tongues danced around each other frantically in an attempt to quell the fear that was rising in both of your stomachs. levi’s hands caressed your figure desperately, trying to memorize every plain and curve that made up your body. he knew that he had to let you go, there was no stopping you when your mind was made up, but he couldn’t shake the bad feeling his intuition was giving him about this mission. if the MP’s didn’t catch you, there would still be a chance that you could run into any number of titans while you were traveling.
levi finally broke the kiss, looking upon your face with that same stoic expression that you have grown to love, “don’t get caught, and don’t you dare get killed by a fucking titan either.”
you chuckled at his words as your bodies finally separated. levi was never great with words but you knew what he was trying to say, “yeah, i love you too.” you climbed back on top of your horse. levi reached up to place a hand on your thigh,
“remember-“ you covered his hand with your own giving a tender squeeze, “don’t die, yes i remember.”
______
you were grateful for the cover that the night gave you, no titans would be active at this hour.
this will be a simple in and out mission just like the commander said. you thought.
you were feeling very optimistic, you were able to sneak into the MP’s base with no issue but now it was a matter of finding the supplies. all you knew to look for was a wooden crate with ‘fragile’ stamped on the front, that is all the commander would divulge about the supplies you were seeking out.
you snuck into the facility’s basement and made your way through the maze-like corridors, not finding anything that fit the commander's description. you knew that dawn would come soon, which meant that the possibility of getting caught, or eaten by a titan on your way back grew greater.
time wandered on as you diligently searched through the labyrinth that was the cold, dark basement. you inspected every dusty room with no luck. adrenaline and anxiety pumped through your veins, you knew that you had spent too much time in the basement. a key part of the mission was to be back to the castle by dawn.
you had almost given up your search when an object in the corner caught your eye. you hastily brushed the dust off the large box, revealing the words ‘fragile’ printed on.
this better be the right box, cause i gotta get the fuck out of here.
_______
levi knew he wouldn’t sleep until you made it back safely. he tried to occupy his mind with the mountain of paperwork that desperately needed tending to on his desk, but he found himself watching the clock, counting the minutes until you were back to the castle.
dawn was approaching. many members of the scout regiment were already getting an early start to their day, some getting ready for training, while others tended to the horses. levi decided that he was much too anxious to stay confined in his quarters. the captain marched out to the front of the castle and busied himself with cleaning his already spotless ODM gear just so he could keep an eye out for your approach.
______
shit, the suns coming up. you thought as you finally tied the supply box to the side of your horse’s saddle bag. titan’s would be active soon. you made sure to stay hyper vigilant once you lead your horse galloping through the forest.
your anxiety rose along with the sun that was beginning to peak over the treetops. you still had a good way to go before you could reach the castle, you knew that some sort of interaction with a titan was inevitable at this point. you tried to ease your fearful mind, your thoughts were racing. you knew that you would have an advantage over a titan in this environment if you initiated your ODM gear, but you had to make sure the supplies made it back to the castle safely. your gear was virtually useless in this situation.
time passed slowly and the distance ahead seemed never ending. the sun continued its ascension, now beaming directly upon you.
the sound of your horse’s feet pounding the terrain below filled your ears. your ears perked when you picked up on the loud thunderous steps in the distance. steps that could only belong to a titan. judging by the sounds that continued to grow louder, you knew that you had mere seconds before it would be on top of you.
_______
levi paced in front of the castle, “she should have been back by now. the sun is almost at its midday mark, what if she was intercepted by a titan on the way back?”
“oh! i’m sure she’s fine! hopefully she killed one so i can run some tests on it!” hange said enthusiastically.
“please shut the fuck up hange.”
_______
well i really am shit out of luck. you thought as a 17 meter titans gained on you. you really didn’t know how you were going to get out of this one, the mission comes first and you couldn’t leave the supplies or your horse behind. you couldn’t live with yourself if you did.
you unsheathed your swords, gripping the sides of the horse tight with your thighs praying to the gods that you don’t fall off.
the titan gained on you on your right side, attempting to pull you from your horse. you noticed that this particular titan had long, sharp nails. you knew that you definitely didn’t want to get sliced by those things.
you aggressively swung and jabbed at the titan with both swords, but you didn’t make contact.
shit shit shit.
the beastly looking creature swung wide with its giant hand, cutting you deep across your back.
you shrieked out in burning pain. the cuts were so deep your clothing was ripped and already soaked in blood.
you knew you couldn’t falter, not now. you took the opening and sliced through the thick flesh of the titans fore arm, completely removing the limb causing it to fall back.
your vision became dark and splotchy, you knew you were close to losing consciousness from the loss of blood. you roused up every ounce of willpower to guide your horse on.
just a little bit farther..i’m almost there levi. you thought as your vision went black.
_______
levi was trying his best to conceal his emotions, he felt like a ball of nerves right now, you were supposed to be back hours ago. levi still stood in front of the castle, now joined by his squad. he was about to order a search party for you, he was so anxious.
“uh.. captain..” uruo pointed into the distance at your lifeless body being carried by your horse.
without a second thought levi sprinted in your direction, a woeful expression painted his face as he saw your body lurched over your horse's back, covered in blood.
levi tried to pull you off the horse as quickly and as gently as possible, being very aware of your wounded back. levi felt even more alarmed when you didn’t yell out in pain, he cradled your unanimated form on the ground while all the bystanders were stunned at the scene playing out in front of them.
the trees swayed in the wind while levi looked down on your pale face, “no! no!” levi’s body shook as he pulled you to his chest, propping your head up in his hands, “wake up! don’t you dare die on me!” his chest heaved up and down as tears streamed down his face. levi turned to look at his squad, “what the fuck are you doing? go get a fucking medic!”
half of the crowd turned, running into the castle to retrieve help. levi removed his hand from the small of your back, analyzing all of the blood that covered his hand. ice ran through his veins when the smell of iron entered his nose.
levi continued to shake your body. his tears dripped down on to your face as he cried, “i’m sorry i didn’t say it back! fuck, i love you too damn it! please wake up! you can’t die on me over this fucking mission!”
the medics finally arrived, levi reluctantly let them take you out of his arms. the captain tried to regain his composure, having never shown this much emotion in front of anyone. ever. much less shedding full blown tears in front of half of the scout regiment.
levi followed the medics that carried your unconscious body into the castle, “is she okay? will she make it?”
“she’s lost a lot of blood but she hasn’t left us yet.”
levi felt hope bloom in his chest at the medics words.
_______
you were stirred from your peace at the sound of china-ware clinging together. you didn’t even have to open your eyes to know exactly where that sound was coming from, you knew it was levi stirring what was probably his third cup of tea.
as soon as you opened your eyes you felt pain. you groaned at the stinging feeling that came from your back muscles. levi jumped at the sound of your voice, moving closer to your side from where he was sitting.
levi observed your features with a careful expression as he craned his neck over your still pale face.
you felt emotion well up from deep inside of you at the sight of the sable haired man, “levi.” you groaned.
you were taken back by how horse your voice sounded.
levi tried to conceal the overwhelming emotions he felt from hearing your sweet voice, “shh. it’s okay, i’m here. i’m here.” you drew in a short breath when you saw tears begin to prick your lovers eyes. you reached up to cup levi’s face, to your surprise levi actually leaned into your touch.
“it’s okay levi, i’m okay.”
“yes but you almost weren’t.” he said in a gruff tone.
he had you there, though you were grateful to have made it out of your titan debacle in one piece, you knew it was a close call with all of the blood you lost.
“well, was the commander pleased that he got his super secret supplies?” you asked playfully in an attempt to lighten the mood.
levi’s usual unamused expression returned to his face, “fuck those supplies.” he deadpanned as he pulled you into a fierce kiss. levi's tongue broke past your lips and immediately intertwined with your own. levi felt desperate, he deeply missed the feeling of your lips on his.
warmth washed over your whole body when levi pulled away, cupping your face with both hands.
you were at a loss of words, you had never seen levi actively show so much emotion in such a short span of time.
“i don’t want to lose you, so please keep that in mind the next time you accept a task from the commander.”
you laughed at levi’s words, “i love you.”
“i love you too. so much, so fucking much.”
levi’s held the back of your head, raking his hands through your hair as he initiated a long and languid kiss on your lips.
you wrapped your arms around levi’s neck, feeling perfectly safe in his arms.
________________________________
the sound of chains rattling woke you from your already restless slumber, being reminded of your uncomfortable confinement as you blinked fog out of your eyes. you were greeted with the heart wrenching view of levi’s limp form being held up by the wrists from the heavy chains hanging from the stone ceiling.
the man’s black hair was disheveled, creating a dark shadow over his eyes while his head hung over his bare chest. he was finally able to sleep, exhausted from hours of torture. you were surprised when levi had demanded to be tortured in your place, he claimed that you were just a clueless cadet that knew nothing of the scout regiment’s plans. his statement was only half true, you were a cadet, but you weren’t clueless.
levi never kept secrets from you, you were the only person in the regiment that was able to gain the captain’s trust. though, you never knew how or why you were able to gain levi’s favor, you never questioned it. you eyed the captain’s body from the corner that you were chained to.
you felt grateful that you were given a long chain that allowed you some freedom to move.
you couldn’t tell how long you were out, but you figured it must’ve been a while. you tried to silently inch forward in levi’s direction desperately wanting to console him in whatever way you could. the closer you got, the more apparent levi’s wounds became in the low light. deep cuts and slashes were scattered across his pale skin, you took in a sharp breath as you grazed your fingers over his abdomen trying to access the damage.
you had never been so close to levi before, the two of you always kept at a safe distance, not wanting to intrude on each other's boundaries.
your fingers slid over his chiseled abdomen lightly, while you internally chided yourself for never telling the man how you really felt. you wished you could say that it was all the time you spent together that caused you to love him, but that would be a lie. you knew that you loved levi the second you locked eyes with him years ago. you could still remember how his cold eyes and quizzical brow softened when his eyes met yours, it was like the two of you caught onto the same wavelength and never let go since that moment.
your daydream was cut short, levi’s head shot up, groaning loudly into the large gag jammed into his mouth. the crazed look in his eye slowly subsided when he realized that it was you that was caressing his body. you shushed levi, reaching up to cup his blood splotched face, “shh.. it’s me. it’s me. you’re okay.” you reached up to remove the damp cloth out of levi’s mouth, he coughed and sputtered at its removal.
levi’s chest heaved up and down quickly looking at you with half lidded eyes, “hi.” was all he could manage.
you couldn’t help but laugh as you drug your thumb across his cheek. tears pricked your eyes as you looked at the man fondly, your heart swole with love, “hi captain.”
levi leaned into your touch as much as the chains would let him, the two of you stood in silence while his gray eyes bore into yours.
heat rose to your cheeks as you tried to cultivate the bravery to confess to levi how you’ve felt about him all this time. you didn’t know if the two of you would ever make it out of this stone lined hell-hole, and you didn’t want to die letting your words go unsaid. you were never good at putting your thoughts and feelings into words, you were not an articulate poet, you were a soldier. how could you tell him that you loved everything about him?
you loved every little thing about levi. you loved his stern glares. you loved his love for earl grey tea, the way he sucked his teeth when irritated, the way he had the ability to be as strong as a hundred year old oak tree, and as swift as a feral alley cat. you loved how he was effortlessly good at everything, and didn’t chide you when nothing seemed to come easily to you.
the silence was finally broken from levi calling your name. the man realized that your mind was far away, “we don’t have much time, they'll be back any minute.” your eyes lost their glaze as your brain returned to the moment, paying close attention to levi’s words, “i don’t want to scare you but i have to be truthful, my body will probably give out after this next round of lashings. it’s very unlikely that i’ll make it out of here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t. my only priority is keeping you alive, because i-“ his words were cut short at the sound of a key turning in the iron lock of your cell.
a stocky middle aged man dressed in a military police uniform entered the room, locking the door behind him, “unless you want what he’s having i suggest you get back to your corner before i shorten your chain.” if looks could kill, the man would certainly be dead. you inched backwards never breaking eye contact with the MP, while levi kept his gaze on you.
the MP retrieved a leather whip out of his standard issue coat, not bothering to re-gag levi as he positioned himself at the captain's back. your heart pounded in your chest while your mind ran at a thousand miles per hour, desperately trying to think of a way to free levi. you knew levi wouldn’t survive not even ten lashes, he had already lost too much blood.
levi kept his eyes on you, letting out a deep breath readying himself for what would come next, “i was going to say..” levi took a moment to collect his thoughts not wanting to say the wrong thing, “i was going to say that i love you. i’ve always loved you. i’m sorry i didn’t say it sooner.”
you were at a complete loss for words, you never imagined that levi would reciprocate your feelings. you wanted to say ‘i love you too’ but you were in too much shock to form coherent words. before you could respond the MP laughed as he wound the whip around his fist, “ah how sweet. he loves you, now the pretty girl gets to see her lover beaten to death. how romantic.” you glared at the man laughing behind levi, telling yourself that if you had the chance to kill this man you wouldn’t hesitate.
the man lifted the whip above his head and quickly brought it down on levi’s back. a strange sound came out of your mouth as levi’s body jumped from the impact. blood splattered against the whip and the man’s hand. you couldn’t help but scream when the man lifted his hand again, afraid that this could be the blow to end levi’s life.
the MP clumsily lost his grip on the whip as he brought it down, sending it flying just a couple of feet away from you. you didn’t waste a second, immediately reaching down to grip the whip. the man tried to rush you, which only made it easier for you to land a blow across his face. the whip made a sharp snap sound at the contact of his skin. blood gushed from the man’s face as he yelled out in pain, staggering around blindly gripping his face.
you jumped on this man’s back, using your chained wrists to choke the man out. the man fell to his knees but you didn’t relent, you tightened your grip until his body went still. levi was barely conscious, you spoke to him in a pleading tone as you snagged the keys from the man’s coat, “i need you to stay awake levi! i’m getting us out of here just stay awake for me!”
sweat beaded on your forehead as you hastily released your wrists from the confines of the iron cuffs, quickly making your way over to levi. humanity’s strongest solider was barely clinging to life when you unlocked his cuffs. you slung levi’s arm over your shoulder while you tried to make a quick and silent escape. there was no telling how many MP’s could be lurking around this compound. you needed to find a horse quickly.
levi groaned in your ear as you pulled your bodies forward through the stone paved corridors. you followed the flame torches that lined the walls hoping that it would lead you to the outside world. you figured that it must be late in the night since you hadn’t run into any other MP’s on your journey.
the two of you finally made it to a thick wooden door, you prayed that it led outside as you twisted the knob. the cool night air poured over your skin, you let out a sigh of relief as you gripped onto levi tighter, “we’re gonna be okay, just gotta find a horse.” you said as you spotted the stables just a few yards away.
you hurriedly pulled levi’s limping body through the stables seeking out a horse that could easily carry the two of you back to base. levi was still breathing heavily into your neck feeling tired and delusional from the blood loss, “i’m sorry. i’m sorry i couldn’t be the one to save us.” you shushed the man while you decided upon a large black horse near the stable doors, “shh. save your energy. you’ve done enough.” you said as you helped ready him to board the horse.
you were surprised that levi still had enough strength to pull himself onto the horse, he swung himself onto the horse clumsily and you quickly followed suit by settling yourself in front of him so you could guide the horse. you finally felt a sense of safety when levi wrapped his arms around your waist, resting his head in the crook of your neck. you smiled at his action as you snapped at the reins sending the horse galloping forward.
_______
levi never did much sleeping, you thought about this as you felt your anxiety grow as you watched him rest peacefully under the white sheets. you were afraid that he lost too much blood. afraid that he might not wake up. you paced around the captain’s room not knowing what to do with yourself as you waited for him to show any signs of life.
levi’s voice broke through the silence, “can you please come sit the fuck down, i can hear your loud ass thoughts from over here.” he said in a groggy voice. you couldn’t help the pure excitement that took over your body, you quickly returned to levi’s side. you reached to grip the man’s hand as you pressed your forehead to his, you felt breathless and overcome with joy that the love of your life was alive and well right in front of you.
levi smiled under you, gripping your face, finally closing the distance between your lips. his kiss was strong and resilient, just like the love you had for him. your tongues clashed together fervently, never being able to get enough of each other. his kiss was a place that you could get lost in forever. like home. you never wanted to leave this spot, you wanted to stay in his arms forever with his lips wrapped softly around yours.
you tried not to protest when levi broke the kiss. your foreheads still rested against each other as he looked into your eyes, “you don’t know how long i’ve wanted to do that.” he said breathlessly.
