Patch on a Pocket
Hello everyone! I'm back with my latest DIY: fixing a cargo pocket that tore out.

I had my work ID badge in this pocket, and I caught it on a truck door. It's a messy tear! When I was brand new to mending, I would've given up. But I have two options: unpick this pocket and use it as a template for a replacement, or try a patch. I tried the patch.
Step one: Clean up the fuzzy edges.

Hmm. Yeah, since chunks of the original fabric are missing, I can't whip the edges back together. I need a patch.
If I'd actually torn the shorts fabric, I'd have put a patch on the inside and another patch on the outside, so the raw edges would be encased in a "patch sandwich." However, this is just the pocket. The inside of the mend doesn't have to withstand the washing machine. I decided instead to...
Step 2: Whipstitch around the tear.

I don't like the look of a whipstitch on a tear, and in my experience, when done on the outside, it disintegrates in the wash. But for the inside of a pocket, it's actually fine. I used marigold thread because I hate the color and have too much of it.
Step three: Prep a patch that's bigger than the tear.

I measured a 4-by-4 square-ish and pinned it flat onto the moving box that's protecting my carpet. Then I used my nail polish brush and my white mystery paint to paint a spiderweb. I've been inspired by goths lately, I guess.
Step four: Hem the patch.

This one isn't necessary--you can do it while you affix the patch--but I just got my machine back from the shop and wanted to try it out.
Step four point five: Pin the patch to the pocket.

I didn't measure well for the patch, and I'm extremely lucky that it just barely covers all the tear. Also I stuck scrap cardboard in the pocket so I couldn't actually sew it shut.
Step 5: Sew on and admire!

Here's the finished look! It took me a few hours (longer than making a new pocket would've taken), but I like it a lot. I did a few tiny stitches on the inside to keep that big corner of the tear anchored to the patch. I also put a few studs on the shorts because why not!

How to spiff up a old stuffed animal!
So I was looking at my old childhood best friend and I realized they needed a little tlc so this is my mini tutorial on how to clean up an old friend and make them look (almost) as good as new! (With guest star two-Finn (they have 2 fins instead of 1, 5 year old me was very creative))
So the first thing your going to need is a wire pet brush for brushing cats or dogs, a regular brush won’t work and there like 5 dollars at any grocery store so there not that hard to find
Your going to want to brush your old matted stuffy, it’s important to brush to AND against the grain so that you get out all of the mats in there fur. (Against the grain is brushing against the way fur naturally lays)

Already there going to be looking a lot better and feeling softer! As seen in these comparisons pics!
Next your gonna want to wash them just to get out any of the stuff that had been previously trapped in the mats and is now lose (you don’t have to do this but it gets rid of all the nasty stuff baby you left on your stuffie)
Finally brush again and your done!
Look at the difference!

Tally Ho!
The winter solstice time is no longer celebrated as it once was, with the understanding that this is a period of descent and rest, of going within our homes, within ourselves and taking in all that we have been through, all that has passed in this full year which is coming to a close... like nature and the animal kingdom around us, this time of hibernation is so necessary for our tired limbs, our burdened minds.
Our modern culture teaches avoidance at a max at this time; alcohol, lights, shopping, overworking, over spending, comfort food and consumerism.
And yet the natural tug to go inwards as nearly all creatures are doing is strong and the weather so bitter that people are left feeling that winter is hard, because for those of us without burning fires and big festive families, it can be lonely and isolating. Whereas in actual fact winter is kind, she points us in her quiet soft way towards our inner self, towards this annual time of peace and reflection, embracing the darkness and forgiving, accepting and loving embracing goodbye the past year.
"Winter takes away the distractions, the buzz, and presents us with the perfect time to rest and withdraw into a womb like love, bringing fire & light to our hearth".
.. and then, just around the corner the new year will begin again, and like a seed planted deep in the earth, we will all rise with renewed energy once again to dance in the sunlight

Life is a gift ❤ a Happy winter to you all...

iFixit
iFixit is a wiki-based site that teaches people how to fix almost anything. It was started in 2003 by Luke and Kyle, in a dorm room at California Polytechnic University when they tried to fix an old iBook together. With no instructions, they tinkered, fiddled, broke some tabs and lost some screws. But they fixed it. When they decided to start selling spare parts themselves, iFixit was born. It now hinges around its step-by-step repair guides, which are free to download and use under Creative Commons licenses.
Now, anyone can create a repair manual for a device on iFixit and anyone can edit the existing set of manuals to improve them. The site’s founders say that thousands of people make use of the guides every day.
“We’ve heard repair success stories from forensic detectives, field translators, and even kids,” say the pair. “From New York to Alaska, Tibet to the Faroe Islands, people have used our guides to fix their stuff.
“Our philosophy is that if you can’t open it, you don’t own it. Once you disassemble, repair, and put back together your laptop or iPod, you have a much better understanding of what goes into it. It’s astounding how just 20 minutes of work can make an iPod good as new – but most people have no idea that there are instructions available to make the work easy. And why should they? Apple tells everyone that the battery isn’t user-serviceable.
“That’s where we come in, filling the ecosystem hole that Apple created by manufacturing a device without an end-of-life maintenance and disposal strategy.”

Restart Wiki
This is a place where members of the Restart community share tips for mending appliances and gadgets with people who are starting out, or whose knowledge lies elsewhere.
This wiki won’t show you how to fix a particular make and model of device: they leave this to the various fix-it websites and disassembly videos. (You can also get help with a device on social media using #SOSRestart). Rather, contributors to this page concentrate on basic and widely applicable principles, for example soldering and how to stay safe while fixing things.
The site is aimed at anyone with a curiosity about how things work and how to fix them. No prior knowledge is assumed. In the spirit of spreading knowledge as widely as possible, everyone is welcome to read it – and to share it. The church finally helped me with something. Heres hoping it'll hold up, I didn't want the chair to slide around anyways. Amen gobless.

Statue lore volume 3
Recap, reattached the right arm, head was nearly unsalvageable but i reused the facial material

Face looking kind of uncanny, sorta botched remaking it

Added some meat to the face to get closer to the original design

Left overnight to dry, some significant cracks on the face and arms but structure appears uncompromised

Patched up those cracks, like 5th time trying to attach its right ankle hope it sticks but it’s been able to stand regardless

Here’s another one of my crazy crack ships
Roman Torchwick and Summer Rose.
I know Summer and Roman have never interacted in the series, but the idea of summer and Roman having a secret Romeo and Juliet romance or Gwen and Kevin from Ben 10 alien force is. Like the two meet each other when summer is back at Beacon Academy as a student, and Roman is just starting with finding his way through the criminal underworld.
I just love it when the hero falls in love with a villain, and the villain falls in love with the hero. That stuff just gets me.

I can just imagine it now summer trying to convince Roman to do Good And Roman is reluctant to do so at first, but slowly over time, just slightly, it starts to sway to the side of Good just lightly, though.
And the entire time, Qrow goes into overprotective brother mode and wants to strangle Roman , but he doesn’t because that would make summer sad.
Neo was initially jealous, but after seeing how the summer made Roman so happy, she backed off.
I even got the perfect ship name for it, summerwick.
I even drew a little picture of them together
