Just found a small Garter Snake near the SUV down the hill. These Garter Snakes are common in local habitats around here. This one is like 7 inches and can grow up to 52 inches in length. The saliva is toxic to amphibians and other small animals but not dangerous for humans.
So as they say..., catch and release.

It is still the nesting period but soon this tree will be invaded with many youngsters who will enjoy a big bonanza feast with parents, right in the middle of the valley.
Then will sleep all together on it the entire night with a full stomach.

On this day of freedom, let's talk about how bald eagles are queer!
It starts with a female eagle named Hope and a male named Valor I. The two settled down to neat together, however Valor I wasn't a great dad. He did show up to incubate the eggs and basically never came around.
In comes another male, Valor II. He immediately did what a good eagle dad is supposed to, incubate, maintain the best, all that. This lead to him becoming Hope's new mate.
Here's where it gets interesting, Valor I didn't seem to mind and actually stuck around! Eventually Hope started mating with both of them, and Valor I even learned to be a good dad!
Unfortunately in 2017 Hope was killed by intruding eagles, but! The two male's actually stuck together and successfully raised their chicks!
Soon enough a new female named Starr came along and joined the two, and now she mates with both males every season!
This arrangement allows for the eagles to have a much more successful rate of raising chicks and fighting off other predators!
This particular story isn't the only one! Bald eagles have been seen in multiple arrangements including two females and one male!

Swallowtail (lat. Papilio machaon), the day butterfly is quite large because the wingspan can reach ten centimeters.
According to various sources, the intensity of wing coloration depends on climatic conditions. The subspecies of swallowtail living in the northern regions have a sandy, almost white primary color. In insects in the south, the palette changes to a bright yellow shade. I think the butterflies I've met have a light, dim shade enough for a better disguise among the grass burned out under the burning sun.🌼
Махаон (лат. Papilio machaon), дневная бабочка довольно крупных размеров, ведь размах крыльев может достигать десяти сантиметров.
В разных источниках пишут, что интенсивность окраски крыльев зависит от климатических условий. У подвидов махаона, обитающих в северных регионах, основной цвет – песочный, почти белый. У насекомых на юге палитра меняется до ярко-желтого оттенка. Думаю, у встреченных мной бабочек достаточно светлый, неяркий оттенок для лучшей маскировки среди выгоревшей под жгучим солнцем травы.🌼

🪻Limonium narbonense, kermek of Narbonne or limonium of Narbonne (lat. Limonium narbonense). A herbaceous perennial native to the Mediterranean. This plant has a specific smell, a little sharp and reminiscent of the smell of dry grass or straw. This odor arises from the content of essential oils and resins in the plant.
🔹️I found a clearing in a lowland, not far from pastures, which I was very surprised at, from afar it really seemed that lavender was blooming🔹️

Данное растение имеет специфический запах, немного резкий и напоминающий запах сухой травы или соломы. Этот запах возникает из-за содержания эфирных масел и смол в растении.

In addition to the "good" mushrooms, a person can find quite a lot of poisonous ones in the forest. It seems to me that mushrooms with a high similarity to edible ones are particularly dangerous. In this photo, the false porcini, bitter bolete, gall mushroom, or bitterling (lat. Tylopílus félleus). Fortunately, it isn't deadly poisonous, but it can be poisoned.
At first glance, it's really easy to confuse it with a real porcini mushroom, but in fact it has an essential feature that quickly compromises it😄 It's white flesh quickly turns pink on the cut, while in real porcini it remains unchanged. In addition, it's very bitter, and heat treatment does not help to get rid of the unpleasant taste.🍄
In my experience, surprisingly, they don't occur in the same clearings where real porcini mushrooms grow, so if you visit the same forest, you can safely not go to the place where the false mushrooms growing.🌱

Помимо "хороших" грибов, в лесу человек может встретить достаточно много ядовитых. Как мне кажется, особую опасность вызывают грибы, имеющие высокую схожесть со съедобными. На данной фотографии ложный белый, желчный гриб или горчак (лат. Tylopílus félleus). К счастью, он не смертельно ядовитый, но отравиться им можно.
На первый взгляд его действительно легко спутать с настоящим белым грибом, но на самом деле у него есть существенный признак, быстро его компромитируюший😄 Его белая мякоть розовеет на срезе, в то время как у настоящего белого она остается неизменной. К тому же он сильно горчит и термическая обработка не помогает избавиться от неприятного вкуса.🍄
По моему опыту, удивительно, но ложный белый всегда растет отдельно и не встречается на тех же полянах, где растут настоящие белые грибы. Поэтому, если вы посещаете один и тот же лес, можно заранее скорректировать маршрут, исключив поляны с горчаком, не боясь пропустить вкусные грибы🌱

Dedaleopsis of the north (lat. Daedaleopsis septentrionalis). The name Daedaleopsis is a reference to Daedalus, the creator of the legendary labyrinth of the Minotaur.
This fungus is annual, polypous, that is, it lives on tree trunks and feeds on wood. It digests lingin, a hard component of the walls of plant cells, and forms the so—called white rot. It prefers to grow on birch trees in the north taiga forests.
It grows up to 7 centimeters, slightly rough to the touch. Hats are characterized by zonation with alternating lighter and darker stripes and often have a bump at the base.𓋼𖤣𖥧𓋼𓍊
Дедалео́псис северный (лат. Daedaleopsis septentrionalis). Название Дедалеопсис является отсылкой к Дедалу, создателю легендарного лабиринта Минотавра.
Данный гриб однолетний, полипозный, то есть живущий на стволах деревьев и питающийся древесиной. Он переваривает лингин — жесткий компонент стенок растительных клеток, и образует так называемую белую гниль. Предпочитает расти на березах в северо-таежных лесах.
Вырастает он до 7 см, слегка шероховатый на ощупь. Для шляпок характерна зональность с чередующимися более светлыми и темными полосами и часто есть бугорок у основания.𓋼𖤣𖥧𓋼𓍊
