‘I just wondered, in short, to recap it in a slightly clearer version, the words of David Cassidy, in fact, while he was still with The Partridge Family, “I think I love you.”’

Unpopular opinion but can Maurice replace Dead Poets Society as the Dark Academia Movie^tm, the story and actors and aesthetic are so much better and also it has a 👌🏻ending and it’s based on a Work of Literature and also I love hugh grant
(No offense to dead poets, I like that movie too but cmon we never even get a confession of love or anything)

Maurice (1987) dir. James Ivory
I think what I’m enjoying most about Glass Onion discourse is that hugh grant is hugh grant. Like, benoit is played by daniel craig we all acknowledge this but I immensely enjoy that his husband is hugh grant. no fancy detective name, no alias, that’s just hugh grant with a sourdough starter

“It certainly wasn’t meant to skirt anything, but it wasn’t driven by COVID in particular. It was just kind of the way the scene was written. It’s the delight of connecting up that moment, when you come back to it halfway through, with the moment from the beginning was kind of the idea of it. I felt like having Blanc be gay and have a partner just felt like a very natural thing coming out of the first movie. I feel like in general, if you think about Poirot, for example, getting glimpses of the detective’s life outside of the scope of the case is interesting. But I don’t know that I can ever see the movies being more about that. The whole thing is kind of about the mystery itself.”
— Rian Johnson on why Benoit Blanc doesn’t appear onscreen with his lover in Glass Onion

It has come to my attention that there aren't many manips with Benoit/Phillip as young adults out there, soo ... I did that instead of being otherwise productive!
I know these are not perfect, but I think the idea of them meeting at a young age and being in love ever since is very cute. <3

That's the truth of the matter isn't it
No it's not that they haven't made Benoit gay enough, you just haven't watched enough Hugh Grant movies to get the cameo
absolutely losing my mind over this not surprised fully just that he said it ??? HUGH????
