Hello! I'm 21 years old. I'm an Argentine Communications student. I'm writing my thesis on how fanon is built within fandoms. Please rb to help me reach more people.

I'm looking for a way to get in contact with the legendary MsKingBean89,

in hopes they'll be kind enough to grant me an interview. It'd be (of course) under that username, and I'M NOT GOING TO ASK FOR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION. All I need is a short interview (could be written, but I'm okay doing it over voice call or any other way they prefer) about the Marauders fandom and the fanon.

This may be a long shot, but it's worth trying.

I've been in the fandom for a while, so when I had to choose a topic for my thesis I knew I had to do something like this. I've always been fascinated by the way the fandom works, how we create all this content we identify as The Marauders™, even though there isn't a lot of canon information about the characters and their story. I love the personalities we've given them, all the symbols we identify them with, and all the relationships we've created.

I'm studying the way people interact on the internet and the colective creation that results of that interaction.

this book is definitely one of my favorites ! it is so incredibly well written and the character development is absolutely beautiful. i highly recommend this books if you haven’t read it, it really captures the charm of the marauders and their friendship. i especially enjoyed the development of remus and sirius relationship, the buildup was tense and exciting and when it finally happened i really couldn’t contain how happy i was.

i also want to shed light on some of my favorite parts of the book like how the author talks about the hiv/aids crisis, they did a wonderful job at showing how queer people in the 70s-80s dealt with it. another thing i really liked was the fact that the author included so much symbolism and foreshadowing!!(i could go into detail but we would be here for days)

the last thing i want to talk about is the relationship dynamics between remus + sirius, and remus + grant. i’ve seen a lot of people say that grants soulmate was remus but remus’ soulmate was sirius, and i understand where these people are coming from i can’t help but disagree. i think it’s abundantly clear that sirius and grant were a big part of remus life and how he changed and grew as a person, and i think it’s awful to discredit the love remus had for grant. from the way i read the book it seemed as if remus really did love both of them very much, and i don’t think he would have made a decision between grant and sirius when the time came which is why grant made the decision for him. grant loved remus and remus loved him, but remus also loved sirius, which is why grant left.

whatever you do don’t imagine sirius black being arrested for a crime he didn’t commit after finding out that the real traitor wasn’t remus, his boyfriend who he had been distant and cold towards for months but instead it was the boy who he had trusted over his own lover. and definitely don’t imagine him in his cell crying because he didn’t get to tell remus he loved him for the last time...yeah don’t do that.

don’t imagine sirius and remus clinging tightly to each other after so many years of being apart, desperately trying to make up for the last twelve years.

Okay so everytime I listen to this song, I imagine Remus and Sirius (the ATYD ones) singing it for each other. And I really need to get this out of my head so here we are:

This whole part is Remus. It's literally about HIM. Him talking about his "cage" (i.e. St. Edmund's) , which he had accepted before Hogwarts, and even the Shrieking Shack before the other Marauders transformed into animagi and helped him. Before Sirius told him that he doesn't deserve to suffer alone.

Am I allowed to cry?

This line is TOO accurate for ATYD Remus, as he's always avoiding crying and sees it as a weakness.

This is Sirius because everyone thinks he's guilty immediately because of his family. He never got a trial and was sent to Azkaban. The internalised homophobia and his love for Remus scared him so much, so it can be said that Remus HAS haunted him.
