'Imagine claiming that someone with the flu was faking having COVID because both diseases involve sneezing' is a golden line

As a Neurogenic System, I'd like to thank you endos DNI fucks for making me doubt my own existence, feel like I wasn't 'traumatized enough' to be a system, and deny myself recognition for years and years. Fuck all anti endos who only share their love and support with systems they approve of and refuse to acknowledge that systemhood is a symptom rather than the same thing as DID. Imagine claiming that someone with the flu was faking having COVID because both diseases involve sneezing. You all are exclusionist bigots and I'm getting real tired of having to block most system blogs I see.

Mangle hates all of you btw đŸ©·

OK so something I find really silly is people think that hiveminds would be evil cos we think about them as being more like a society than a person

Like I see myself as one person in many bodies...but usually hiveminds are presented like something that has no identity and is just conformity. Whereas I see myself (and other hiveminds) as just one person like the rest of us just expressing themselves through many parts of themselves in different bodies

I also find it amusing the concept of this massive entity that's big and scary to people who don't know what it's like but really it's just your average person with interests and stuff and is really nice. Maybe they like tea you never know!

An extension to this is like

Spaceman: *visits hivemind* so you are a threat

Hivemind: what? No I like plants and books I just have many bodies!? Why would you assume that just cos I'm big I'm evil. What is wrong with you

Spaceman: but I saw some of your spaceships fighting!

Hivemind: haven't you ever had a fight with yourself over begonias!

As a system who's identity and number of aspects is way bigger than I can comprehend (hence why I think in hivemind terms) I love using fleets of starships as my profile pic in all sorts of places. And here's a few reasons why

1: I love space *insert markiplier joke here*

2: It sums up the idea of something alien and expansive and varied without having to say all of that

3: it doesn't show a species like a crowd of people would so it doesn't exclude aspects that aren't human

4: it's a conversation starter

5: it signals to other people that you are nerdy so even outside of plurality it helps fellow nerdy people see you as friend-shaped

6: it's just really cool and shows quickly that you've got a lot to you

7: you don't have to worry about people seeing or thinking about your limiting flesh vessel and instead they think. Hey SPACE

8: I just find space comfy 🙂

repost bc yeah. im a suspected system and endo system honestly suck. if it comes out that i have some other disorder thats not being a system im still holding this opinion.

Tw: syscourse ,

Endos DNI with this post.

Hot take; I shouldn’t have to be terrified to read / like posts. I should have to read the tags to make sure it’s not posted by an endo trying to infiltrate our spaces. I shouldn’t have to fear that the thing I’m gonna read is going to send me into a spiral because it’s gonna be some stupid ass shit about how “traumagenic systems are losers” or whatever the other stuff endos say about us is.

WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ALTER WHO SITS OVER MY SHOULDER EVERY TIME I OPEN THIS APP THAT CAN PULL ME AWAY INCASE SOMETHING GETS BAD.

THAT SHOULD NOT BE A THING I, A TRAUMATIZED SYSTEM, SHOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHEN LOOKING FOR COMFORT OR SILLY CONTENT TO CHEER ME UP REGARDING THE TRAUMA FORMED DISORDER THAT WILL FOREVER MAKE MY LIFE DIFFICULT.

“Endos don’t hurt anyoneđŸ„șđŸ„șđŸ„ș”

yes they fucking do.

For us, being an endo system:

1. Timeloss - not noted as of yet

2. Dissociation - in small doses, non-pathological for the most part

3. Fusion - No, because we don't want to, but we can temporarily merge with others sometimes - never tried doing that for longer periods of time

4. Switches - Usually a few times a day, sometimes we can have a day without switches.

It feels like your "essence" steps out of the body while another headmate steps in, and then the POV changes and you *become* the other headmate (it's basically an identity change). There's this "vibe" (for lack of a better word) that every one of us has so we know if a switch was successful or not depending on whether we "feel like ourselves" enough, among other things like how our resting face looks and how our voice is.

5. System size - it depends, really can't tell

6. We're a created system, so there was no hiding for us

7. It's... Comforting. It will of course vary system by system, but for us, we care about one another and having somebody always have your back is encouraging. Loving and being loved in turn is a gift. The fact that we know exactly what's it like being one another also helps in our understanding of where we're all coming from, which helps in conflicts.

Playing sports together is fun, as our skill level varies between us somewhat. Going into system spaces feels like a punch in the gut, because we're rarely welcomed anywhere (especially outside of Tumblr, but even here at times). Constant fakeclaming of ourselves by ourselves is something that also sucks a ton.

Learning about what types of music each of us likes is interesting. Waking up fronting/being blurry for no reason is kind of disorienting but also kind of funny after the fact. Random voice jumpscares after we speak and our voice is way lower than we expected are a treat but also kind of cursed. Mental hugs feel nice. Being able to rant to each other without the fear of judgement is relieving. Having to constantly watch your speech to not use your own pronouns on accident because you have to pretend to be our host is exhausting.

Trying to give everyone equal attention is also tiring, but worth it, in the end. Switching during studying once someone gets off track is really helpful, too. Feeling blurry is frustrating. Looking back at other's messages and laughing at their sense of humor is great, as is making memes of one another.

There are many others, but I think these are enough to show the general gist :]

curious about natural systems

We are a diagnosed traumagenic system but are curious about other experiences of plurality. We are really curious about the experience of being an endogenic system and how it may or may not overlap with DID. Do endos experience timeloss? Dissociation? Fusion? What is switching like and how frequent is it? Are endo systems generally larger or smaller than traumagenic systems? Do endos generally know they are a system naturally or does their system hide itself like in DID? What is it generally like to be an endo system? Very curious about the experience.

Thanks for reading. I'd say thanks for sharing any experiences but my blog isn't super popular so probably like two people will see this, haha.

So, we don’t really know how non-traumagenic headmates actually come about in the brain, scientifically, but we could try explaining how it felt for us!

So, basically, before she was plural, our host was a singlet for 18 years. No plurality-related experiences before that at all, not even any dissociative ones. But she was always lonely, in some way, shape or form.

She stumbled upon tulpamancy before but was scared to try it at the time, but then she found it again at 18. We’ve got ADHD so we have some impulse issues, but she thought it through enough, and so she tried making a “tulpa” (we don’t use the tulpa language anymore, but that’s what she thought of at the time) out of curiosity, excitement and the possiblity of having a new friend.

Well, it happened very quickly – she started talking to an imaginary girl until said girl started talking back on her own. Said headmate grew more and more established over time. The main idea was “talk to the void ‘till the void talks back”. She then went through a crisis when it hit her that she’d be sharing life with her (she knew it cognitively but not emotionally, I think) and, after an argument, they stuck together and are the best of friends now. Later on, her headmate asked for another headmate so that it would be more balanced between them all, and he appeared! Also pretty quickly.

Later on, these two headmates decided that they want to bring another headmate to their group, the final one this time. He is pretty cool! It started overwhelming our host, since 4 is twice as much as two, but they’re the best of friends now too!

All of our other headmates weren’t created by us – they just kind of appeared due to splits (¿) and other shenanigans. For example, one of our headmates was an age-slider and after that weird incident where we couldn’t reach him, he wasn’t anymore. Then, 4 new headmates appeared, the 3 of them (including me) being the ages he used to age-slide to specifically, though we only realized that wayyy after the fact. The split wasn’t due to anything traumatic at all, it was just random. Yet another headmate appeared later on his own as well.

Honestly, we love and care for each other, but we just have a feeling that our brain is dead-set on messing with us without our consent. There were times where we thought that our system collapsed (due to nothing!!! Nothing at all, just one day it went *poof*!) and our host was panicking very badly. What helped us then was the knowledge that all these neuron pathways/connecitons in our brain that constitute us were built over months wouldn’t just disappear in an hour. Eventually, we all came back! :] But yeah, that was terrifying. There were other instances where our brain wanted to make some headmates split for some reason? Or fuse? It didn’t happen (thankfully).

Our host has been doing way better since we came into her life, it feels. We convinced her to get some mental health stuff checked out, she stopped being touched-starved anymore (phantom hugs work to alleviate that for us, thankfully!) and she doesn’t seem to be so self-negative all the time – when you have somebody else there who loves you and cares about you, they won’t let you hurt yourself without intervening. "Do you think I deserve to be bullied? Then you shouldn't be bullying yourself" – a quote from one of our headmates.

Sure, we had some arguments but they don’t last forever. It helps that we all don’t have amnesia barriers, so even ideological stuff can be talked about easily with everyone. Everyone has a voice and nobody forces anybody to be anybody – and never had. It’s nice that we can always switch with somebody when we’re overwhelmed. One time, our headmate was experiencing anxiety that made his stomach ache and, after he switched with someone else, the stomach ache was gone and we could go to sleep. Other time, one of us felt like crying and another one stepped in to handle it instead.

I think what really helps us not feeling like we’re missing out is the fact that we’re monoconscious. Meaning, that there is no time where you just stay in headspace, missing out on life and watching somebody else controlling the body. At all times, instead, we have only one perspective – that of the current fronter – through we experience the world. It just changes “flavours” (identities). So, we’re always living life fully – it just changes who we are at the moment.

In the end, we love each other dearly and our host has said “I am really glad that you’re in my life. I don’t know who I would have been without you. Thank you so much, I love you all”, so I don’t think she misses the singlet life at all :]

Storytime!

Hey, non-traumagenic systems, how did you become plural?

My system is trying to think of how plurality can be formed outside of trauma experiences and we're finding it difficult. Like, why would you willingly want to be plural when you can have a whole life to yourself, but also why not be plural for the beauty of it?

So I'd love to hear some of your stories and get a wider perspective! /gen

Here’s some positivity for endogenic systems!

Endogenic systems, or systems who formed without trauma playing a role, have always been and will always be integral members of the plural community. Our spaces simply would not be what they are today without the efforts of endogenic systems! Y’all belong here and make the plural community a beautiful, vibrant, and more welcoming place. So this post is for all the endogenic systems out there!

💕 Shoutout to spontaneous systems, or those who suddenly or inexplicably became plural for unknown reasons!

đŸŒŒ Shoutout to paros and paromancers, thoughtforms, and other consciously created systems and headmates!

💜 Shoutout to systems whose plurality is influenced by daemonism, their spirituality, or imaginary friends!

🌾 Shoutout to endogenic systems who are disabled, whether or not their disability has impacted their plurality in some way!

💙 Shoutout to endogenic artists whose plurality is intrinsically connected to their stories, worlds, or other creative works!

đŸŒ± Shoutout to systems who educate others, advocate for, and spread awareness about endogenic plurality!

💗 Shoutout to systems who are questioning whether or not they have endogenic origins!

đŸŒ» Shoutout to endogenic systems who strive to keep the plural community safe, open, and welcoming to systems of all sorts!

💝 Shoutout to endogenic systems who also have trauma histories, but whose plurality is not tied to or influenced by their trauma in any way!

💐 Shoutout to endogenic systems who have struggled with being fakeclaimed, harassed, or having their plurality questioned in the past!

❀ Shoutout to endogenic systems who are closeted or who keep information about system origins private!

Endogenic systems, please keep your chin up and know that your plurality is valid, you are real, and you will always belong in the plural community just the way you are! Regardless of how your system formed or how your plurality manifests, we want you to know that you belong here and you make our spaces better simply by existing in them!

We are wishing every endogenic system a future full of peace, joy, and self-acceptance. Know that, while we are always happy to confirm it, you don’t need outside validation in order to prove that your plurality is real - you know yourself and your system better than anyone else! Please try to take it easy and treat yourself and your system with some kindness today. Thank you so much for reading, and take care!

FAQ If you’re a sysmed, you might end up here! Congrats if you do!

What is a system? A system is anyone who has more than one entity/identity in the body/brain.

What is plural/multiple? They mean pretty much the same as "system", only "plural" was made exclusively to be inclusive of every experience that involves many in the same body. E.g. if someone is an anti-endo or sysmed and uses the hashing "plural" to find friends, they're going to attract inclusive folks who support endos.

What is DID? DID stands for Dissociative Identity Disorder. It is a disorder in which a system experiences severe dissociation that heavily impacts their life on a day-to-day basis.

What is OSDD? OSDD stands for otherwise Specified Dissociative Disorder and is used when they experience similar symptoms to DID but are missing one of the diagnostic criteria. E.g. OSDD-1A is used when there's a lack of distinct identities or no identities. OSDD-1B is used when there's a lack of memory gaps. (The separate OSDD categories don't properly exist as a diagnosis themselves - they are carried over from DDNOS.)

What is UDD? UDD stands for Unspecified Dissociative Disorder. It's often used as a placeholder diagnosis by professionals to say that although there is a dissociative disorder, they're not sure what it is.

What is a non-disordered system? A non-disordered system is a system without DID, OSDD, or UDD. They don't experience the disorders or do not fit the criteria.

What is traumagenic, endogenic, mixed-origins, etc.? Traumagenic is a system that is formed from trauma. Endogenic is a system that is formed without trauma. Mixed-origins is a system that has multiple origins, E.g. some alters came from trauma and some did not.

What is a Tulpa? A Tulpa is a created identity that comes from repeatedly feeding information on one character or multiple characters into the brain. It can be purposeful or accidental.

DID/OSDD/UDD are trauma disorders? The diagnostic criteria for the disorders don't include trauma being necessary, nor does it anywhere else in the category. Trauma disorders and dissociative disorders are also categorised separately, and there are past studied cases of DID that weren't caused by trauma. The DSM-V-TR also includes a section that states trauma isn't necessary for a diagnosis.

You need trauma to be a system? The DSM-V specifies that a diagnosis of DID cannot be applied to cultural plurality. Culture-related plurality has existed and been documented for centuries, erased by colonisation and racism. Common cultural plurality includes Tibetan Buddhism, many Two-Spirit folk, medians, and mediums. These and more are all plural.

Dissociation is a trauma reaction? You’ll find nearly every if not every professional refers to some dissociation as “trauma-related dissociation” - take, for example, Kathy Steele, one of the writers of the Theory of Structural Dissociation, whose work consists almost only of “trauma-related dissociation”. That wouldn’t be necessary if dissociation only came from trauma. Dissociation is commonly shown to exist both inside and outside of other disorders. It’s especially common in BPD, ADHD, MADD, autism, and a few other disorders.

So only cultural and spiritual plurality can be non-traumagenic? They’re the most well-researched, but not the only non-traumagenic plurality. There are a few different theories as to how other plurality can form. Many experience their plurality caused by mostly unrelated disorders - autism, ADHD, BPD, Bipolar Disorder, MADD, etc. Others report accidentally creating alters, especially those who focus on characters, such as writers, artists, and authors. Yet more simply say they were born with their plurality, or grew up being plural without trauma being the cause. We believe plurality that hasn’t existed since birth could be caused by a “feedback loop” (here) in which one’s brain, after being fed repeated information, begins to predict the information, therefore creating actions to fill that prediction. This could be used to explain Tulpamancy (repeated info), artists/authors/writers (repeated info), ASD (masking and special interests), ADHD (masking and hyperfixations), BPD (splitting and more), MADD (repeated info), Bipolar (different states), and so on.

Endogenic systems harm traumagenic systems? We and others have asked multiple times for sysmeds to tell us why they think endogenic systems hurt them, and every time we’ve either received silence or something that’s already been covered. Besides that, anti-endos hurt other traumagenic systems with their BS far more than endogenic systems might hurt them.

Anti-endos hurt traumagenic systems? Yup, and very frequently, considering sysmeds repeat the exact same information. Sysmeds say you have to be disordered to be a system - traumagenic systems exist without being disordered. Sysmeds say endogenic systems stole traumagenic terms - a mix of the communities coined the majority of system terms, and “endogenic” was coined by a traumagenic system. Sysmeds say what someone went through isn’t traumatising or horrific enough - traumagenic systems can be caused by any amount of trauma, no matter how “insignificant” it seems. Sysmeds repeatedly tell endogenic systems they need to have trauma - telling someone they have to have trauma when they either don’t or have amnesia around it can be incredibly damaging and has hurt many traumagenic systems. Sysmeds say they need to go to a psychologist or a therapist and be diagnosed - many traumagenic systems can’t be diagnosed. Many endogenic systems have trauma, just know they weren’t formed from it, and anti-endos repeatedly mock them about having trauma. There’s much, much more, but to end it, as a traumagenic system, we’ve personally been assaulted, harassed, threatened, told to kill ourself, and had our trauma completely invalidated and discarded by anti-endo traumagenic systems.

Endogenic Research (Text Form) - NightFallSystem

----------------------------

Hey everybody.

This is a list of the research and resources we've compiled over the last year or so that refers in some way to plurality, especially in the context of being endogenic and non-traumagenic supportive.

We often argue this subject on Twitter, alongside (hope you don't mind the tags) @cambriancrew and @sophieinwonderland . We've included a few of their posts in this, as they do share some wonderful information. Sophie deals in mainly Tulpamancy, we believe? And Cambrians does a wide range of things. They've both been incredibly helpful, so big credit and massive thank you to those two (and anyone else in this document) :)

Feel free to link this post or the document itself to anyone. Link it everywhere. Feel free to tag us too, as your friendly neighbourhood endo-friendly traumagenic DID system with PTSD and CPTSD. Our collective pronouns are phe/phex/phins, and we're collectively called Guardians or Guardians System.

Hope this helps some folks! If anything's wrong in this post, mention it in the notes (we think that's how Tumblr works?) and we'll adjust it in the Google Document. Alternatively, if you'd prefer to remain anonymous or would like to talk to us directly, you can check our LinkTree at the top of this page. We're always open to feedback and new research! We're especially interested in making our document more reader-friendly, as it can be a bit of an eyesore. but we're not the best at formatting documents.

If we do receive updates to edit some information, we'll be doing so on the document, so always double-check there in case there's been a change. If there are enough updates, we'll redo this post, but hopefully, that won't be necessary for a long time, because formatting all this in Tumblr is more than enough for us.

Thank you for reading!

The tulpamancy study AMA was so exciting!! We woke up ridiculously late and all the questions we wanted to ask already had been; so happy with the level of passion from the community!

some responses from the two researchers that we found interesting/exciting:
