Good morning! I’m salty.
I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.
This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.
You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.
“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.
If you’re not prepared to see adult content, created by and for adults, don’t fucking click through this. And if you do, for all that’s holy, don’t blame anyone else for it.
Sigh. Sadly, Twitter became a toxic platform for anyone with what happened in this app and the current pandemic. Their logic of "my opinion is the absolute truth" and acting like they have the right to judge anyone based on what you like isn't healthy at all. And Instagram is problematic too but between both apps, Instagram isn't that much toxic and people actually mind their own business.
I'll follow you where you decide to go 💗. I wasn't feeling comfortable on Twitter anymore anyway for the same reasons...and IG isn’t really the best app for interact-

I never actually wanted to be there but since everyone had moved I felt I had to-
But in all honesty since I did my mental health and anxiety have taken some damage in multiple occasion. It draines me of my will to create for the Inazuma fandom, I have almost no feedback aside few friends and even when I do get retweeted and such it feels... empty.
I also don’t like the people there, gods know how many I got blocked or silenced or how many times I had to swallow my anger and sadness to put a carefree facade to not let the haters think they achieved shit...
So I don’t know... I’ve been noticing that latel having notifs from twitter stresses me out even more- so I will keep the accounts ofc but... probably delete the app and use the internet version on computer solely for the zine.
It doesn’t help that there aren’t many active blog here on tumblr but I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that I rather have few but nice feedbacks than... whatever twitter has been giving me.
I’ll keep the instagram going tho, when I’ll feel like posting smth there, it’s not perfect but I like it more than twitter and it’s kinda nice if you avert your eyes from the fucking reposters... and even them are a better inconvenience than any fanpol or antis over on twitter.

Newsflash: you shippers are the most common denominator.
You know how they say, if you meet an asshole, you met an asshole, but if everyone you meet is an asshole, then you are the asshole? That applies here.
Those shows didn't do anything but have male characters exist as friends. You decided to make it into something more. You queerbaited yourselves, and now you're trying to project it onto the creators.
It's always the same group of people shipping two male characters together, and then acting like victims when it doesn't become canon and hurling insults at creators and other fans. Y'all just migrate from fandom to fandom using the same rhetoric, parroting the same accusations, throwing around the same insults.
Have some fucking self reflection.

I hope you don't mind me reblogging this, OP. I've seen a few similar posts recently and they've been making me feel some ways.
One, selfishly grateful that I came to my first fandom before the neo-puritanical wars began over whose ships and kinks were the most righteous and morally valid to get off on (don't get me started on canonical validation, as if that has any bearing on shipping at all). It wasn't even a shadow in the corner of my eye when I was a barely-teen starting to read Snarry fic in the fandom that shall not be named. I started to get a hint of it when I rejoined SPN fandom more socially in 2022 after a very long break, but the sheer pervasiveness and vitriol of it wasn't clear to me until I joined Tumblr in January this year. 'Dodged a bullet' doesn't even begin.
Two, sad to imagine all the people like OP that feel the same way but haven't–just 'yet', I hope–managed to find the exit to the cesspit they've found themselves in. I can see that it would be scary to leave, and not just leave, but cross to the other side, where you then become one of the subjects of their unreasonably targeted disdain (at best) and hate (let's be optimistic and say worst).
Three is a good feeling, at least. I'm incredibly happy for OP and the others whose posts I've seen like this one. I love that it must be so freeing to openly share and engage with content you've been nervous to acknowledge before, and I hope you all find lots of fast friends in the Wincestie side of fandom the way I have. 🥹💖

I've loved spn for years but always felt weird or bad for being into wincest because the few friends I have who watch it constantly shit on wincesties because they either don't know how fandom works (some of them only watched the show and edits, never really talking to other people in the fandom) or they can't tell the difference between real life morals vs fiction. 😒
And people on other social media (specifically people around my own age) always wanna be the moral police and act like they're superior for not liking taboo things even though half of them definitely have a 2nd account for that taboo stuff 😂
But anyway, I enjoy seeing all the samdean posts and being able to interact with them or reblog them while having a much lower chance of dealing with an anti since most people tend to actually use that block button on here like they should when they find an account they dislike!
A big majority of you are very kind people who cancel out the few rude/bad people online so thank you! 🤎

" *proceeds to flood the entire fucking tag with ships and kink shit * I don't like to judge people, but are some of yall even capable of enjoying something without shipping it??? Drink some water! you are so thirsty that you are suffering from dehydration! I don't even hate ships that much I just hate how whenever i look up something its about 99.9% shipping/thirst art and then a single actually no ship related image. Its so tiring and over-saturated. I just want to enjoy fan art and content without suffering eye damage caused by accidentally looking at Shirtless kink Peppino what ever happened to how fan communities used to be ? I get on and we can talk about how a videogame's mechanics work, or maybe talk about lore theories? Yeah the smut was always there but i feel like there was at least variety so it was optional. Nowadays it feels like fandoms are just a good way to ruin your enjoyment of something

What do you guys do about harassment and overcoming fear online?
genuine question.
I am an artist. I want to make things and post them. I am scared to make things and post them because I don't want to be canceled over something I didn't even know was a real problem nor do I want people to target me. I don't mind judgement, the real fear is constant dog piling and harassment that stuff may bring. how do you guys cope? do you just ignore them? I am autistic and I barely understand how people work and what is entirely socially acceptable, so advice would be appreciated!

I personally like whatever the fuck this is I am not going to give specifics on what I don't like to prevent harassment, just know i am not a huge fan of the shipping aspect of fandom. Also sorry for no art credit, Pinterest is a cesspool of art theft.
do you notice it? the fact it takes like 5 seconds to decide what you like? and you can very easily not make eye contact with the things you don't like? meanwhile fan-fiction can take WAY longer to read and decide if you hate it or not. we still make fun of the artists for making horrible Deviantart-esk levels of cringe But we can also look at a funny post and beautiful art and appreciate it way easier. once you shuffle through thousands of really bad fanfics without finding a good one in HOURS, then its easy to believe that fan fiction isn't inherently terrible. But thats just a theory

I don't want to block talented artists just because they don't have enough common sense to properly tag their post. every time I get on I have to play the "Don't make eye-contact" game when I just want to look at villainous fan art. You have just as much right to make smut art as much as you want. You have that right and I have no power to stop you. BUT: please let me fucking consent to this. thank you in advance.
what happened with the madlibs artists? I saw it in a post you reblogged and don't know the situation.
ok so back in december, the madlibs storytime video got released. thomas and co had asked fans to do the art for the stories, like in the fwsa video. unlike the fwsa video, this video had far more artists and far less time for them to do their shit, which is probably why this whole thing happened.
flash-forward a few weeks, and this video by prince alex got released. he’s a big tss fan and a really cool creator, i rly recommend checking him out. alex was one of the animators on the madlibs and had a really shitty experience, and the moment the info started spreading, the rest of the animators backed him up.
in summary: thomas and co asked for fan animators, but paid them all ridiculously small fees. like, a dollar per second kind of small. this post breaks down how far that is from industry standard, as well as other info. the animators were given barely any time to finish the animations, and Thomas and co barely communicated with them, to the point that they didn't even know when the video was released.
and they couldn't talk about it. their contracts prevented them from speaking abt the project. i’m not fucking kidding. these animators were underpaid, overworked, and generally shat on, and they couldn’t even complain. emails were sent to the crew during the project, and most of them were brushed aside with a politely-worded fuck off.
eventually, thanks to the video and other animators coming forward, the cat got out of the bag. a few days of December were filled with ppl coming to terms with it, ‘cause even tho thomas wasn’t behind the pay itself, he was fully aware of the whole thing. and it sucked. hard.
the animators didn't want compensation (altho ppl encouraged them to donate to their kofi links.) they just wanted an apology and for thomas and co to learn from what happened. this was a shitty situation that clearly happened bc they didn't know how to handle this many animators on a project. and we all wanted an apology.
and now we’re here.
and i get it, ok? it can be easy to forget this stuff. u want to forget this stuff. u want to think just bc nobody’s talking abt it, u can move on. it can seem painful to keep dwelling on the bad spots.
but there’s been no apology. no compensation. no public acknowledgment. there has been nothing to make up for the animator abuse that occurred. thomas and co are doing the same fucking thing as some of yall are subconsciously doing--trying to forget abt it.
that’s not how u hold ppl accountable. mistakes can be forgiven, ‘cause fuckups happen, and u can never expect a celebrity to be perfect. but. people were hurt. there’s been no apology. if we forgive and forget, we stop asking for change. and this could happen again.
i’m not asking for thomas to get cancelled or whatever. i’m just saying this isn’t over. don’t let it be over. if u don't know abt this, educate urself (I'm gonna link some stuff below.) if u do, keep spreading the info. keep this in the public eye. keep this fandom buzzing. we’re not gonna forget, and we’re not gonna be silenced.
and if it makes u bummed to dwell on the bad stuff? i've said it before and ill say it again. this is not about u. it is about the people who were hurt. and thomas is not ur friend, and ur not doing the nice thing by forgiving him--ur doing the doormat thing. u can like thomas’ content and still hold him accountable. u can love sanders sides and still criticize the crew. u can say ‘i don’t hate thomas for this’ and still say ‘but i hate what happened.’
we should hate what happened. we should keep talking. we should wait for an apology, because we are under no contract to keep quiet. we never will be.

i dont know when it happened but somewhere along the way “shipping” got a new meaning for younger folk that seems to translate to “i want these people together for real asap”. i think the media had something to do with it. but guys.

shipping absolutely Does Not mean demanding anything from people/creators. shipping isn’t about expecting and waiting for the day it will certainly happen. it is not a direct translation to Happen Or Die.
shipping means you like the idea of two (or more) people together. you like the concept. you find it fun to imagine the dynamics. you even create fanon content of it (fic, art, edits). it’s all in your head and it’s Fine that way.
is it nice to have a ship become canon? oh my god, yes. but that’s not what shipping is about and yall need to take a step back and breathe because being a jerk to people aint gonna change their mind about ships.

There's this weird tendency among fandom types where they'll take a character, and insist that they are fans of them, before changing their design, age, pronouns, backstory, blood type, species, hometown, favorite color, zodiac sign, medical history, and every other facet of their being.
They will then violently insist that this version is superior to the canon one and act like they "fixed" them and it's like. Buddy that's not the same character anymore. That's just your own oc commiting identity fraud. Like. I get the desire to experiment with different interpretations of a story. But first of all it's okay to just make an original character if that's what you really want to do. And second of all, are you even really a fan of the character you "fixed" if they're a completely different person afterwards?
