I decided the kind of person I want to be is someone who can be calm and rational even under duress. For example, I once got my hand stuck in a gate, and found it better to say, "open the gate right now," than to swear because my hand was released sooner than if my word choice had been different.
Enthusiasm (or anger or any other deeply felt emotion) doesn't have to be big and bold and loud and swearing when there are a myriad of words and expressions in the English language which can more accurately depict emotions than the more commonly phraseology. Using a swear is creating a shortcut which cuts right past true meaning instead of hitting it dead on.
Also, the best advice I ever got about not swearing came from my dad. He said, "When you think a swear word, bite your tongue and make it hurt." This leads, some days, to having a really sore tongue. But it also leads to having a cleaner vocabulary. And I think when expressing oneself, preciseness instead of vulgarity goes a long way.
Anyway, my point is:
tl;dr preciseness in language creates greater understanding and connection between people
how do people not swear??? like where does their anger go?? how do they show their enthusiasm??? what if they stub their toe??? like saying golly gosh isnโt really gonna cut it barbaraย
โFor a man is a little lower than the angels, yet was made that he might become the companion of the Creative Forces; and thus was given--in the breath of life--the individual soul, the stamp of approval as it were of the Creator; with the ability to know itself to be itself, and to make itself, as one with the Creative Forces--irrespective of other influences.โ

I've never understood the logic behind a "hivemind" - in other words, thinking that people who share something in common all think the same. It's kind of like stereotypes, or perhaps racism. It's insulting both to the group and to the individual it's applied it to, and it's one of the biggest reasons we argue and bicker all the time.
This religion is all terrorists or all holier-than-thou stuck-ups, those console fanboys think the other consoles have no good games, and people who do this terrible thing can never be trusted again, ever. Even if you have proof that this is primarily the case, it doesn't mean anything, since any one individual can be the counterexample. It's all just generalizing - a logical fallacy. And people take it seriously!
It's especially annoying when two people who are part of the same group have different opinions, and then people say the hivemind is conflicted/never happy (two people who like the same console can't agree on the quality of a first-party game). How can you not see that it's differing opinions from different people? How do you assume that they're supposed to think the same, all the time? Or, sometimes, people insist that one of them is lying, that they actually believe what the other person said and are trying to save face (peaceful Muslims vs. terrorists, for example).ย Where's the logic? There is none. It's just stupidity.
In the end, it's no better than being racist. All blacks are horrible people, right? Generalization again. It's the exact same "reasoning." And everyone is guilty of it, to a certain extent - myself included, for generalizing that people who expressly think this way are all idiots (among other things).
"But doesn't that make you a hypocrite?" I'll gladly be the hypocrite if it means I help to reduce the problem as a whole. Not all hypocrites avoid changing themselves too.

SSENSE IS GOING DOWN!!!

I was on the @BBPolyvore Facebook page and stumbled upon this: a photo of a customer complaint from a loyal SSENSE User about how the fashion site handled its acquisition of Polyvore. And from what Iโve read (and hopefully what youโll read soon) this person is disappointed, disgusted, and disillusioned to this companyโs business ethics...and Iโm super happy!!!

This is the kind of change we need to expose as well as keep fighting SSENSE from their business โplan.โ Right now, we need to stand together - now more than ever - and keep protesting their products, website, and business for what theyโve done to us.
I donโt know when our beloved Polyvore will return or how, but I still have hope that the Polyfam is going to beat this...and I still believe that we will win this fight.
Our petition has reached 11K signatures and is on track for 15K at change.org. Repost this, tweet it, retweet it, show it on Facebook and Instagram, and let the world know: we are never backing down and we will never give up!!
