As we step into the new year of 2024, I think to myself ‘what can I do differently in 2024?’ I’m not one to sit on my hands and wait until a new year started to make changes to my life but I would be lying if I didn't say that the sparkle surrounding the prospect of being an entirely new person in january while reflecting on the year in december didn’t excite me. I’ve been taking my vitamins, getting my ass in the gym, solidifying my beauty routines and trying to become an all around ‘it girl’. BUT it's time to wholeheartedly embrace the essence of the 'it girl era' with even more aggression and tenacity than before. Being mediocre has never been in my cards and I want so much out of this life that I have to do more.
The Enchantment of Your Signature Beauty Routine
The first thing I had to get right was my natural look. My go-to ‘If i have 5 minutes to be outside can I I do it?’ signature makeup look. And this is from someone who just started learning about makeup in 2016…where we did full faces and the thickest eyebrows possible. I had to think about what I wanted my staples to be that would always be in my collection. Now I’m a girl who likes a nice dewy look and whenever I wear makeup people don't even know I’m wearing it!
Think of makeup not merely as a beauty enhancer, but as a canvas for self-expression. Whether you resonate with the 'less is more' philosophy, cherishing a dewy no-makeup makeup look, or you're a glamour enthusiast who wouldn't part with her winged eyeliner for anything, your makeup style is an extension of your identity.

Kimmy's Digital Diary: things are better than they seem because i'm in control of my reality.
i think it's easy to start spiralling after one thing goes wrong in life.
"I didn't start this habit on this day, therefore I'm a failure"
"I haven't accomplished this yet so I'm never gonna get there"
"I don't know what to do"
And then the decision paralysis comes in and I freeze.
tick tock tick tock - time is ticking and I know I need to make a decision or do something but I'm so scared of my next move I don't do anything at all.
But then I remember - I'm in control of my reality. I choose what and how everything will play out. If I want to be that girl, I can become that girl by believing I am and showing up as her.
So I needed to get in the habit of tracking my habits because we all know that knowing what you want makes it that much easier to manifest
Becoming 'THAT' GIRL
Haircare Regimen
monthly hair dates – because a fresh braid set can fix anything✨
maintaining my braids using hot oil treatments and hair masks at home
finding hair products that vibe with my texture, not just the viral stuff.
Fitness Regimen
gym time at least 3x a week – gotta keep this ass I've worked hard for
move for at least 10 minutes daily, even if it's not a full-on workout.
Skincare Regimen
doing morning and nighttime routines everyday
finding products that work for my skin concerns (if you guys want i'll share my skincare routine i have combination/oily skin)
getting a facial once a month
Study Regimen
finding new courses to study every quarter.
setting aside 1hr every day to study something new
And a little reminder: Next time you're feeling down for not being where you want to be, just remember – as long as you're showing up and striving to be better than yesterday, you're doing just fine. 💖

Life got so much better once I stopped caring so much what other people think of me. The only person I have to impress is myself, and everything else will fall into place.
I'm not worried on anybody else's success, I'm focused on mine.

after a good gym sesh, sticking to my morning/evening routines, and taking time to ground myself through journaling, I feel like I've unlocked a new level inner peace and happiness i didn't think was possible.
but that happens a lot when you're consistent with yourself and stay on track of your goals. there are no excuses to behave any other way because the woman i want to be wouldn't act that way.
i make time to stay educated, and stay connected to my spirituality. this keeps me grounded and inspires my journey.

i'm obsessed with becoming better and this isn't in a completely selfish way (although it 90% is). i wanted to becoming a better community member. i wanted to show up even more than i knew i could for my loved ones.
i'm becoming more disciplined and sticking to my routines no matter the mood. i'm more diligent with my work. i'm more intentional when reaching out and reaching out more often. i feel so connected and calm and supported.
it's a nice feeling, being able to feel so much love at once. i consider myself very lucky.

not everyday is going to be perfect. there are weeks where i struggle to show up as the best version of myself. sometimes i don't stick to my routine as much as i should have, but i don't beat myself up about it.
why?
beating myself up does nothing. if i didn't do it i already feel bad so why not use positive self redirection to help me show up better tomorrow? i can reflect at the end of the ay to identify my pain points and try again the next day.
in the chapters of my journey, mistakes are not closures but verses, helping me compose new skills to conquer the world.

first week of march
As the sun sticks around a little longer each day, and the birds serenade the world, there's a sense of awakening. The ice is melting, both literally and metaphorically, bringing in a season of renewal. It just feels like the perfect time to plant seeds for success. 🌼🌸☀️
february was hectic. it was exhausting, and it took extra strength and belief in myself to stay on track.
there was tooons of low energy days but i made workarounds. i altered my schedules on my low energy days to activities that wouldn't further exhaust me and invigorate me instead.
the one thing that kept me grounded was daily prayer, and gratitude. on the hardest days, find one thing that went right and hold onto that as your hope for the day.
it might be a terrible day but it's not a terrible life, if i have these things to be grateful for.

april is here and it finally feels like the real new year. the sun is finally out for longer, the birds are chirping (and waking me up every morning too)
the tulips and hyacinth bulbs are awaking from their slumbers and blessing us with sweet aromas and the sun is sneaking out a little later and giving us hints of summer freedom.
march was filled with lots of campaign planning, good food, and good memories. but, it was also filled with stress, frustration, late nights, and coffee.

ahh, i finally feel inspired to write again but does anyone else feel like something shifted after that eclipse? like the real new year just started for me. i feel so, renewed! but also fed up with so many things in my life. it's finally time to shed my skin (old habits and behaviours) and welcome new opportunities. in the same way the Persephone is rejoining her mother and awakening and beautifying the earth, i need to beautify my life after a period of stagnancy.
i'm making a lot of pacts to myself for the next couple of months regarding my health, and financial wellbeing. i'm in my mid twenties and i need to start focusing on being a baddie in every area of my life.
i also got this cute app called finch to help with self care tasks and keep me on track. the more self-care i do the bigger my penguin grows!! taking care of me takes care of her and i love it.

July is here, and it’s like the summer just gave us a big, warm hug! The days are longer, the sunsets are more stunning, and every evening feels like a celebration of light and colour.
The roses and daisies are showing off their best selves, filling the air with sweet scents, and the sun is treating us to those golden-hour vibes that make everything look like a dream. 💭
June was a whirlwind of beach trips, ice cream dates, and unforgettable moments. New jobs, new opportunities, and new money are rolling in, which is super exciting! But if i'm being 100% honest —it also had its share of meltdowns, frantic deadlines, and new routines. I've learned that now more than ever, i need to get my sh*t together and stay on track with my goals.

spontaneous road trips: Hitting the road with no plans, just the open road and endless possibilities., i looooove driving by the water and exploring the cities nearby. i always find a cute antique shop or new food truck.

burnout: Pushing yourself to the limit and forgetting to relax. you need to promise yourself that you'll schedule at least 20 minutes for self care
overthinking: Letting worries steal the joy from your sunny days. if you stress about it before it happens you're putting yourself through it twice. and that doesn't make sense!
clutter: Holding onto things (and thoughts) that no longer serve you.
FOMO: Stressing about what everyone else is doing instead of enjoying your own journey.
