Secrets of Devildom: Envy Demons (Part 1)

Those who have read the theory of the 7 Og and the cycle of life (thank you @sparkbeast20 for the cooperation) know that there are many gaps in the annon, and many of the events that occurred in the annon are not explained, and/or left implicit without any context.

For those following these moments of theory, you may notice that I have been talking a lot about the demonic classes, their "history," and culture before, during, and after the fall of the brothers, focusing most of these moments on philosophical/mythological debates, pointing out plot points that few would see and understand.

Well, we have already talked about 5 of the seven sin classes, namely Greed, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, and Wrath.

Today we will talk about the most common emotion, Common in all human relationships present at all times even if we do not realize its existence......

….(insert supernatural intro)…

...We will talk about Envy.

But before starting this theory moment, I ask you, dear reader, to keep an open mind for this moment, and if you want to point out any flaws, or if I am forgetting something, remember that this is just a theoretical post. I won't be upset if you want to add something to this conversation, I just ask that you reblog and tag me so that we can exchange theories on the subject.

Like all theories about demonic classes, I will begin with the famous question: what do we know about envy?

For Aristotle, envy is like a wound that arises when we see another person's good fortune, a feeling stimulated by "those who have what we desire." The English philosopher Bertrand Russell described it as a powerful cause of unhappiness, indicating that the unhappy person is not only affected by envy but also bothers or at least desires the life of others. Russell, however, saw envy as a driving force behind economies, as well as an element that helps maintain democracy.

In Psychology, envy is defined as a displacement of energy, where the individual's focus shifts to the satisfaction and pleasure of others, to the detriment of their potential. It is a psychological pain that arises when we compare ourselves to others and feel that our values, self-esteem, and respect are diminished. Envy is the painful perception of what we lack, aroused when someone possesses characteristics superior to ours.

Sigmund Freud, the renowned Austrian psychoanalyst, saw envy as a result of unconscious hatred, rooted in childhood and intimately linked to anger and depression.

In the spiritual context, envy is related to the emptiness of the soul, indicating a serious problem in how the individual deals with the world. It is a sign of an inability to grow, resulting in a desire to hold others back. Envy originates in covetousness and, when uncontrolled, can lead to destructive attitudes, such as attacking others' achievements instead of seeking one's development.

With that in mind, we can conclude that Leviathan, once a celestial general, saw his life turned upside down after experiencing incredibly traumatic events: war, revolt, loss of his sister, the fall followed by the event of Species Change, and exile from the place he considered his home. 

[A/n: Man, doesn't that open another can of worms? Just thinking about it makes you understand how screwed the brothers are.]

We can then analyze that these events triggered an identity crisis, leaving Leviathan feeling lost and purposeless. He saw himself as a useless opportunist in a world where he no longer had a defined role. His proximity to Lucifer and Lilith during the Great Celestial War reflects his loyalty and sense of justice and his family. However, upon becoming a demon, Leviathan found himself trapped in a cycle of jealousy and self-pity. Feeling inferior and unjustly treated, he withdrew from the outside world, opting for a life of seclusion and escapism through his passions: anime, manga, and video games.

Leviathan's behavior is a manifestation of the trauma he carries with him. His jealousy and self-deprecation are symptoms of his internal struggle to find his place in the world. He often lashes out in anger when he feels threatened or unjustly treated, and his ability to summon Lotan reflects his need to protect himself from his fears and insecurities.

However, it is in his interactions with other characters that we see a nuance in his personality. His relationship with MC is a turning point in his journey, as he finds in MC a true friend and confidant. Through MC, Leviathan learns to face his fears and accept himself, regardless of his flaws and imperfections.

His relationship with Lucifer, Mammon, and other demon brothers is marked by conflicts and rivalries, reflecting his internal struggle to find his place in the hierarchy of Devildom. However, it is in moments of vulnerability that we see a more human facet of Leviathan, where he seeks connection and acceptance.

Considering these aspects, when we compare the characteristics of Leviathan and his relationship with the other avatars, we can assume that the Third Circle of Hell, the Circle of Envy, is a competitive environment, full of envious people who constantly seek high status and boast about their superiority.

In this competitive environment, there is immense development in various sectors, with a strong focus on technology and entertainment.

We can infer that, compared to other circles of hell, the Third Circle is more dependent on the others, mainly on the First (Circle of Pride) and the Second (Circle of Greed), which significantly support it.

Based on that card with a futuristic background, we can imagine the Third Circle would be a mix of the equivalent of Japan, Tokyo, and Atlantis in the human world. I believe it's more like a blend of the Tron universe and Naboo from Star Wars, or even Kamino, with a futuristic and technological setting, perhaps even located at the bottom of the ocean.

Thus, considering that in the Circle of Wrath, the inhabitants are scholars with explosive temperaments, we can conjecture that the inhabitants of Leviathan's Circle would be nerds, geeks, and otakus with inferiority complexes and tendencies to let their imagination run wild, unchecked.

We can also think that, due to its dependence on neighboring Circles, many of the technologies and developments of the Third Circle are controlled or contained to prevent them from falling into the hands of the chaotic public of the other realms. I'm sure more than half of the paperwork Luci does is aimed at containing and controlling the technological flow developed in the Third Circle.

__Lucifer__

He's not optimistic. His brothers are hard enough as it is, but adding in a new large creature? It'd be better to just keep you down with Cerberus. Maybe he'd enjoy the new playmate.The annoyance turns to intrigue when he learns you have the mind of any other demon (or person, if you will). And you can speak? Strange. This wont make him like you by any means, of anything he will be very distrusting. As you live there, though, he starts getting used to you. He even enjoys your odd antics, and especially the way you can rally in any ensuing chaos (despite how often you cause it).On one or two rare occasions, he'd absently try to pet you on the head when he was in that 'dead tired from paperwork' state. Depending on your reaction, he might do it more. When/if he does end up falling for you, expect to be near him a lot (obviously). There's not so many head-pats, but he likes to have you sit next to him while he's working or reading, sometimes absently stroking you neck or asking your opinion on whatever he's working with. There'll definitely be some teasing as to how catlike you are at times, but he means it lovingly. *he might put a collar on you if you ask-*He wouldn't ever be the type to outright ask to ride on your back, but I have the feeling he'd make subtle hints to it.'Ah, darn, the ride canceled last second. How can we get there now?' Ykyk. He'll turn you down the first time when you ask if he wants to fly with you, but that's just the pride talking for him. He'd love nothing more. After all, one of the most powerful lords of hell swooping in upon a dragon? You two would be an awe-inspiring duo, that's for sure.

__Mammon__

Ugh, he's gotta watch the new student? Lame! Humans are so- what the fuck is that?He dosen't know how to react at first. This is the thing he's looking after? It'll be awkward for the first few days, but as we know, he falls for MC fast. Awkward silence changes to him griping about how you always have to follow him. After the pact, though, he realizes you're not so bad. You tease him a little bit, sure, but he notices how you praise him, too. Just simple compliments, like how he looks good in his shades, how he's so good at math, how he's super fun to be around. It makes him feel better, y'know? Other demons also seem to be a bit less inclined to make fun of him when you're around, especially when you growl at them for being so openly mean. After a little bit of time, you two are basically glued at the hip. Depending on the kind of MC you are, you two could be the ultimate partners in crime or the closest confidants (or both!). There'll never be a boring moment with you two.It wont take him too long to ask to fly on you (probably be one of the first things he asks you tbh- it's like a joy-ride squared)He'd be respectful but mopey if you say no, but if you say yes? That's a happy demon on your hands right there. Be sure to set some boundaries, though, he might not wanna go by car anymore (like when you give a hognose snake a toad and they refuse to go back to pinkies lmfao). He'll try and get you to learn some aerial maneuvers, maybe how to spin or go upside-down (it's harder than it looks). When you two aren't flying or causing chaos together, you're both just hanging out. When he's relaxed, he likes to trace his hand over your smooth skin/scales/feathers/fur. He can't help it, the texture's just so soothing. Don't point it out, though, he'll go BRIGHT red. He likes it when you two watch movies together, or when you browse Devilgram with him over his shoulder. Feel free to nuzzle him and cuddle up, this man loves it. Sometimes he returns the favor, using you as his own sort of couch while he talks with you, sometimes giving you a peck here and there.

__Leviathan__

Oh this man is hyped from the start. A whole-ass dragon? LIVING with him and his brothers? What could be cooler? He has an internal war between wanting to get a good look at you and being really nervous to get too close. That nervousnes amps up when he realizes you can talk. You might think he's a hallucination at first with how fast he darts out of sight the moment you try and look at him. Fortunately, Mammon's debt to him is what spurs your first interaction. After, he's a little bit more ok with being percieved. He plays it cool at first, not wanting to seem too pushy, but he can't help but barrage you with questions when he gets the chance. It's actually quite a fun time, especially if you love infodumping as much as he (and I) does. You ask your own share of questions as well, about the Devildom, about him, about the games and figures he loves. As you two get more relaxed with one another, you both love to sit and chat about each other's hyperfixations. You can't exactly game with him due to your talons (not comfortably, anyways), but he lets you watch over his shoulder while he games. It makes his victories that much sweeter, and any losses a tad more bearable. Sometimes he lets you go on the mic to startle or taunt the other players, just for fun. It's hard to tell exactly when the relationship begins and the friendship ends, it's a smooth transition that neither of you really notice until you're literally cuddled up together, watching Assasination Classroom on his phone at 2am. It takes a surprising while for him to ask to fly with you. You may have to be the one to bring it up, actually. Nervous the whole time, 100%. He may decline, but upon numerous reassurances he'll agree. I think it's like... that test drive scene from httyd. It's so unfamiliar at first, being high up, with the wind blowing so fiercely. After a while, though, something clicks with him. He'll gain that confidence, guiding you (with your permission) where he wants to go. Something about that wild, windswept sensation of being a mile up in the air melts his nerves. It's just you two and the sky. The others are def gonna be jealous about how well you fly together.

so, lately I’ve been thinking about different pet names/nicknames (thanks A) and I decided to give some to the Obey Me boys, and what their stance is on pet names/nicknames! (Also some they might call you, I tried to make them all as gender-neutral as possible so they can apply to everyone!)

Btw, feel free to use any of these, whether it’s for a fic, oneshot, hc, or anything else. They’re all SFW, so if you’re looking for something a bit more suggestive, you’ll have to look somewhere else.

LUCIFER

RECEIVING

Doesn’t like being called pet names in public at first, but slowly warms up to it (nothing embarrassing or overdramatic tho)

If you embarrass him in front of his brothers, he’ll take away that privilege though

Is okay with you calling him pet names in private, as long at it’s nothing weird

Thinks it’s cute when you try to fluster him with pet names

Example pet names for him: Dear, Love, Darling, Honey/Hon, Babe

GIVING:

Starts off just using pet names for you occasionally, but uses them more often as you progress in your relationship

Sometimes randomly whispers them into your ear as he passes by to get you all flustered

Just uses standard nicknames for you (bc he’s old)

MAMMON

The first time you use a pet name for him, he gets extremely flustered

Quickly comes back with his own though

A bit hesitant at first, but once he starts, he’ll call you nicknames whenever he gets the chance

Makes it a point to use them when you’re around other guys to let them know you’re taken

Has spent at least one sleepless night coming up with a list of pet names for you

LEVIATHAN

RECEIVING

Oohhhh boy

You done broke him now

The first time you do it, he’ll freeze up for a good 30 seconds as he processes what just happened

Once his brain has restarted, he is a blushing, stammering mess.

Why would you call him that out of nowhere? Are you messing with him? Is this a prank?? Wait that’s not what I meant don’t apologize—

No matter how many times you do it, he always turns bright red whenever you call him a pet name

Example pet names for him: Player One, Babe, Boo

GIVING

Doesn’t really give ‘pet names’ as much as he does regular nicknames

Don’t get me wrong, he means them affectionately, just don’t expect him to use any of the cuter pet names other couples use

If he does use a more standard pet name, he’ll be a blushing mess while he does it

Example “pet names” he’ll give you: Player Two, Henry, Normie, Babe (maybe)

• Yesterday's Captain, today's Admiral •

(Headcanon with an Immortal MC who used to be a pirate and a former Captain Levi cause ya'll can't convince me that the Grand Admiral of Hell's Navy didn't became a pirate at one point. Ft. Spain Romano and America from Hetalia)

Grand admiral Leviathan, the most feared and respected of the Hellish seas.

But it wasn't always that way, in fact, he used to stir so much trouble for others who share the seven seas with him. Recalling one event in particular...

"OY Bastard Captain! Our food stock's running out, at this rate the whole crew will starve"

Captain Carriedo looked up from the old map in his hands to be met with olive green eyes of his first mate.

"It's fine Lovino, we're set to arrive on the island in a few hours, by then we're meeting with Captain (L/N) for the trade"

The Italian left the captain's cabin after muttering a few curse words under his breathe. Carriedo could only laugh in amusement at the boy's antics before diverting his attention back to the map.

'I herd theres another ship that sails around these parts...'The Royal Hydra' they call it, led by a man of royal purple hair who's name is comparable to the nightmare of the seas. I really do hope we don't run into them, It'd be a hassle to fend off territorial Pirates.'

He stood up and grabbed his familiar red coat, putting on his large hat in the process. Walking up to the deck he saw his whole crew scurrying at the sight of their captain.

"Listen up! We'll be docking on the island in an hour so I suggest you all prepare mi amigos! Make sure to have your weapons ready at any given time!"

The confused glances among the crew garnered the spanish captain to continue.

"There's a chance we'd...run into territorial waters. I wouldn't want mi crew to be helpless if that happens noh?"

And with that the diverse crew dispersed to get ready.

"Captain (L/N)! We're almost near the island. The crew already prepped the luggage and armory"

Said captain nodded at the blonde as they loaded their pistols with ammo, latching them to the sides of their pants making sure they're hidden under their (F/C) coat,

"Thank you Alfred, Let's gather the crew on deck, A little birdie told me that 'The Castilla' and 'The Alexandrite' aren't the only ships in these waters"

The boy only nodded before sprinting towards the deck leaving the Captain to their thoughts.

"I wonder how's Carriedo doing..."

The young first mate rushed through the ship panting once he reached the spaniard.

"Oy Bastard Captain! The Island's in sight!"

Carriedo's eyes shined with delight as he stood from his chair.

"Gracias Lovi! Now go tell the-"

*BOOM*

The sound of canon fire shot through the air as the spanish captain and Italian sprinted towards the deck, only to be met with absolute chaos.

"Well, well, well.. So you're the intruders my dear Lotan told me about, who do you think you are?"

That's when Carriedo noticed the grand ship a few distance away from 'The Castilla". There on the crow's nest stood a young man with regal purple hair grinning menacingly at the spaniard.

'That must be The Royal Hydra... and that must be The great Captain Leviathan'

"BASTARD WATCH OUT!"

Without even realizing Lovino pushed Carriedo in the nick of time as a cannonball flew to where the captain was previously standing, the duo standing up as quickly as possible when Levi's crew began swinging towards The Castilla.

"ARMS AT THE READY MI AMIGOS!"

The two crews whipped out their weapons swinging at their enemy with precision.

'Gah! At this rate the ship might sink! We didn't even see his ship coming! It's as if it emerged from water!'

At the corner of Lovino's eyes he saw Capatin Leviathan landing on their deck ready to aim his sword at their captain's back. The Italian's eyes saw it yet his body didn't react quickly.

'Sh*t the bastard's gonna-

*CLASH*

"W-what the"

The spaniard felt someone leaning against his back as he slowly turned his head

"My my, to attack someone from behind in such a manner, a dirty move for the rumored great Leviathan don't you think?"

Levi gritted his teeth as his sword met a platinum blade. The one wielding the blade shot a cheeky smile at Carriedo as they push Levi away from them.

"Good thing we made it in time Toni am I right?"

The spaniard chuckled as he flashed a cheerful smile at his savior

"Gracias (L/N)!"

"WHO IN DIAVOLO'S NAME ARE YOU?!"

Leviathan pointed his sword threateningly at (Y/N) as said captain raised their brow at his choice of words but answering nonetheless.

"The Alexandrite's Captain, at your service"

God the sickeningly sweet grin on (Y/N)' face was enough to infuriate Levi as he traded blows with them. (Y/N) kept dodging his sword as they danced a fierce battle nearly running out of breath with the speed they're going.

"Oi Carriedo! Save your spanish ass and go on board The Alexandrite! I'll meet my crew and yours on the Island!"

Carriedo nodded reluctantly as he and his crew slowly retreated to his friend's ship.

Levi cound only feel envious of the friendship between the two intruding Pirates as he gripped his blade tighter.

'Tsk they really are a pain'

MC deliberately laughing when they first hear Mammon's name cuz thats what they were literally eating before being brought to the Devildom

MC muttering "Edi wow" every single time Lucifer tries to be intimidating

"I can KILL YOU RIGHT HERE-""share mo lang?"

MC Softly singing Bahay Kubo under her breath while them and Beel shop for veggies

"Sibuyas,kamatis,bawang at-""MC what're you singing?"

"...you have a nursery rhyme about foOD!?"

MC getting startled and rips out the hardest P*tang *na and Mammon being genuinely scared cuz that was not the nicest thing he has herd in a while.

"...Takteng yan nadedemonyo na talaga ako dito eh..."

Cue to the brothers looking at MC confused and only understanding the demonyo part since its the only thing close to english.

The brothers genuinely surprised that MC can willingly eat demon food without being disgusted.

"I mean I literally eat half developed ducks in their eggs back at home-"

"You whaT?"

Mammon bragging at MC about something he did or bought while MC just shrugs and quietly says "Sana all"

The House of Lamentation going camping then to Lucifer's horror realizes they didn't brought enough eating utensils.

"Yo MC you can use my plate-"

"Don't worry Levi you can use it I'm fine"

Cue to MC proceeding to climb a tree that has leaves that resemble a banana leaf then using THAT as a plate and eating with their hands.

"Oh don't worry! We always do this back at home whenever we eat at celebrations"

MC befriending Mephistopheles and becomes an honorary member of the newspaper club cuz MC has the tsismoso/tsismosa charm and can gather SO MUCH information solely because they know what,when and whom to ask.
