NPMD AU idea
Max is seriously, but not fatally injured in the Wayland place. He's left comatose for two weeks and awakens having forgotten the "party" and any good feelings he may have developed towards the nerds. During the time that he's away, the story continues much like in canon, with the nerds finally accepted by and befriending the cool kids in school. Which makes it sting so much worse when Max returns and the cool kids reluctantly turn on their new nerd friends again. Now they're not just being tormented by bullies, but by friends. Friends who claim to care, just not enough to stand up to Max. The only cool kid willing to stand up to Max is Steph, but she's a fringe cool kid at best and she quickly finds herself ostracized by her old friends and fully integrates into the nerd herd. But the central characters would actually be Richie and Jason, who became pretty good friends while Max was away. Turns out Jason likes anime too, and Richie is surprisingly good on a skateboard. When Max returns and Jason goes right back to it, Richie is hit hard. Jason is torn between loyalty to his new friend and his fear of social repercussions if he stands up to Max, and Richie is left with a two-faced friend who is friendly and apologetic when they're alone but immediately an aggressor the moment anyone is around who might get word to Max. Jason wants Richie to understand the position he's in. And Richie does, but it starts to hurt too much for him to care. Jason's apologies are pretty meaningless if he's just gonna do the same thing tomorrow. The story would follow Richie and the nerds as they try to survive the school's fucked up dynamic, and Jason, finding the courage and means to try and fix his friendship with Richie and deal with Max. And would maybe delve a bit into why Max is how he is. Max redemption arc? Mayhaps. Jason/Richie endgame? Probably. I'm calling this the "Right back to it" AU. I make no promises that it will ever be written.

i hc that richie lives with paul, but their house is too far from hatchetfield high, so paul needs to drive richie at school every morning. but paul starts his work earlier, so richie spends an extra hour there doing nothing before his first period
when max joined the group, he offered richie to drive him at school instead of paul because they live close. sometimes while paul is about to leave home max arrives and just hang outs with richie before school. or sometimes he sleeps

I love the nerd x LiBs aus where each nerd gets to become/be possessed by and whatnot by a lord, but also, I have a very different line up than most people have so I just wanna talk about it
And of course, no hate to other interpretations, I love them and you can pry Wiggly!Richie from my cold dead hands, but also I haven't seen anyone else with the same idea so I kind of want to share it
First up:
Blinky!Ruth
I think this one fits nicely (well, not nicely, per se, but I'll get to that) with her role in canon. She's always the watcher. She does the tech, and watches on high from her booth, never actually appearing in the show, just influencing it from the outside. She tries hard to be a part of it, but she just can't due to her debilitating anxiety. And wouldn't it just be heartbreaking if she found out one day that her aspirations had just evaporated? That she doesn't want the spotlight anymore?
Pokey!Grace
Grace is the one to take control. When Pete gets hurt, she's the one to make plans to get back at Max. When he dies, she is the one orchestrating the coverup. She expects everyone to follow her, to sing to her tune, and anything even suggesting they might have fallen out of line she takes harshly. But Pokey's not the cleverest, and Grace's plans don't really work out. She knows what she wants, but well-thought-out plans are not her forte.
But that brings me to:
Wiggly!Steph
Because Steph knows people. Her dad is mayor, she knows politics. She's the one that takes charge when Grace's plans fail, and the one that bargains with Wiggly in canon. Steph knows how to use her power to get her way, and I think with a little eldritch motivation, she could be a great vessel for Wiggly
Alright, now the two I have the shakier justifications for (but c'mon, all of this is really an elaborate way of me saying that I just think it would be neat)
Nibbly!Pete
As much as I know Tinky would like a Spankoffski, Pete just doesn't have the same energy as Tinky. He's a lot more muted, less manic. Plus, you can tie Nibbly into Pete's need to keep his blood sugar high. He needs to feast, goddammit!
Tinky!Richie
You know who I think can match Tinky's energy? Richie. He's a math nerd who would go on hour-long rants about his favourite characters. And you know he unironically dressed like Tinky's human form in middle school (he thought it looked cool)
Anyway, those are just my thoughts.
