A/N: This is the second quick fic I've written after a long time, so I hope you guys like it! There's not much to say other than... I love writing for the sweet guy characters :D (Also, I'm going back through and editing stuff, cuz I was WAY TOO TIRED to be writing this in one sitting.)
Yamaguchi was never one to hide anything from Tsukishima, mainly because the blonde male would figure it out eventually, but Yamaguchi has a secret.
To be more specific... A secret crush!
Tsukishima, not noticing anything wrong with Yamaguchi, wasn't bothering the poor boy about his crush or his new found shyness towards you. The green haired boy continued to keep this a secret from his best friend, knowing that Tsukki would either push him to confess to you, or he'd tease him about how shy he was around you!
As the boys were warming up on the court, preparing for a practice match, you happened to pass by the open doors of the gym. You were delivering papers from your club to a joint club, but you couldn't help but take a detour to see the boys on the court. Specifically, you were looking for a particular boy on the court...
Your secret crush!
You decided that your club didn't have to know every little detail about your personal life, no matter how good of friends you all were to each other. So... You decided to keep the fact that you have a crush on Yamaguchi a secret. Besides, your members had no right to know! They're always digging into your personal life and ask you when you're going to get a boyfriend.
Oh, how you wished that Yamaguchi would be your boyfriend.
As you continued to make your way to the joint club, you realized that you could stall for time by saying you got caught up in talking to the club's leader, or you could say you fell on your way back to your clubroom and you had to go to the nurse and get a bandage.
No, that'd be absolutely crazy! You couldn't make up a lie just so you could stand in front of the open gym doors to watch a bunch of sweaty, stinky guys practicing volleyball. Well, you weren't intending to watch all of them.
The point is, you are not gonna come up with an excuse on why you weren't back in the clubroom in a reasonable time. You just couldn't do that...
You finally dropped off the papers at the joint clubroom's classroom, making sure to give the leader a greeting before heading back the way you came. You were sad thinking about how you wouldn't be able to watch Yamaguchi for just a little bit, but you have standards! You weren't going to purposely make your club members wait for you to come back. They'd gripe for a whole week if they found out why you weren't back in the classroom.
As you walked by the (still) open gym doors, you decided that admiring the boys (Yamaguchi) volleyball skills for a minute or two wouldn't hurt. In fact, your members would probably be impressed that you could take the time to appreciate the volleyball team honing their skills, rather than actively playing a game.
You went closer to the doors and received a polite head nod from Kiyoko, the team's manager. You spoke a small "hello" and proceeded to watch the boys (Yamaguchi) passing, tossing, serving, and spiking volleyballs left and right. Once you had your fill (you had to force yourself to leave), you gave a small wave to Kiyoko before walking closer to the outer area.
You thought walking down a couple of stairs would be an easy task, and your members would be none the wiser, but it turned out to be quite difficult...
On account that a volleyball smacked the back of your head, causing you to lose balance and fall to your knees. You groaned as you rubbed the back of your head in little attempt to remedy the situation, but the damage was already done.
You heard the sounds of fast feet running to your aid, or to simply see what had happened. You couldn't bear to face the embarrassment waiting for you at the door, so you continued to rub the back of your head, and hopefully the boys (not just Yamaguchi) would go away. You heard two loud boys screaming about how much trouble someone would be in with the captain, you heard a quiet discussion between Kiyoko and another player, and you heard someone walking slowly up to you.
You heard a frantic apology from the person right behind you, saying "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you!" a couple of times over again. You rushed to stand up so you could run far away from this and never come back, but you were turned around gently by the same person that was apologizing like his life depended on it.
Yamaguchi.
You couldn't believe that you were standing this close to your secret crush, and it seemed like the shy boy quieted down because he stopped apologizing as soon as you turned around. You both stared at each other as Yamaguchi continued to hold onto your shoulders, as if you were gonna disappear if he didn't. It felt like an eternity before you heard someone loudly clearing their throat behind your crush.
You both looked at the captain of the team, wondering what else was going to happen next. Daichi, the captain, had already dismissed the others and went up to the both of you, shaking his head. He patted the 1st year boy on the shoulder, grabbing so he could pull him closer.
"Yamaguchi, you're not in trouble, but since you hurt her head, I'm tasking you with taking them to the nurse's office." The younger boy nodded as he shyly looked back at you, letting you lead the way.
"Your head is fine, but if it's still throbbing, make sure to put this ice pack on it for a couple of minutes." The nurse told you as you and Yamaguchi made your way out of the room. You both gave your goodbyes and slowly walk back to the gym. You both didn't say much until you were halfway to the outer area. Yamaguchi, trying to sound cool and confident, quickly initiated the conversation.
"I'm really sorry about your head! I really didn't know that you were out there. I hope your head feels better soon." With the little confidence you had left in you, you nodded your head and looked at Yamaguchi closely.
"So you were aiming to hit the volleyball out the door?" The boy's cheeks blushed widely as he tried to give you a better explanation of what he was doing, but you only laughed at how panicked he was. He stopped in his tracks as you laughed at his attempts to save face, and you couldn't help but hear what he said next.
"You have a really pretty laugh! Just like you... I mean, you're not a pretty laugh, I mean that you're pretty- Oh my god, what am I saying!" You stared at him as he rambled more and more and kept digging his grave, but you couldn't help but smile. He thought you were pretty? You!? We're you dreaming?
You touched his upper back gently and rubbed his shoulder in appreciation. He blushed some more and only calmed down when you told him that you wanted his phone number. You really didn't know what came over you, but you were finally taking charge! You were actually talking to your crush, and he wasn't running away like you thought he would!
You eventually headed back to your clubroom, only to be met with a smack in the back by your members, asking you where you had been for so long. You explained what happened, excluding the parts where you basically confessed to your crush, and they all stopped bothering you about it.
You packed up to go home after your activities were over, and you stepped out into the cool breeze, feeling as though you were a new person (you weren't, but that didn't stop your high). You walked towards the bike racks to find your bike and go home, but something in the distance caught your eye.
Yamaguchi walked quickly towards your area, handing you a slip of paper. You were confused but remembered that he promised to give you his number later. He bowed and said one last thing.
"Text me whenever you want to and I'll answer as soon as I can! I'll try not to keep you waiting," he turned to make sure no one was behind him before he ran back to the gym.
"Be safe! C-Call me when you get home." And he was gone.
As the weeks passed by, you and Yamaguchi became closer than ever, and you quickly confessed your feelings to him because you were confident that he'd still be your friend even if he wasn't interested. Surprisingly (only to you), he said he liked you too, and you both began to take your relationship at a slow pace. The both of you were happy with the outcome!
But as Yamaguchi kept getting on his phone to message you, Tuskishuma started to notice how happy his best friend was staring at his phone... The blonde found out almost immediately that the green haired boy was messaging a special someone...
A... SECRET CRUSH?!
Tsukishima would never let that kind of info pass by him, and Yamaguchi certainly wouldn't keep a secret like that from him! There's no way.
But there is a way.
Tsukishima just has to ask. Act cool about it. If he makes it a big thing, Yamaguchi's gonna make it a bigger thing.
So, he asks.
"Tadashi,"
"Yes, Tsukki?"
"Is there something you're hiding from me?"
"W-Why would I hide anything from you?"
"Well, you're looking way too happy to be playing a regular old phone game. You must be messaging someone."
"I... I don't know what you're talking about, Tsukki!"
"..."
"..."
"You're dating someone, aren't you?"
"M-mind your business!"
That confirmed everything to Tsukishima. And just like Yamaguchi knew he would, the tall blonde started teasing him every chance he got, and he hadn't even met you yet!
Seriously...

"Yama?"

"Did you tell Tsukishima about us?"
"No... Why do you ask..."
"He walked up to me before class started and said, 'I know about you and Yamaguchi' and then he just walked off! What a guy..."

He feels so high when he's with you!
He always claims to have fallen in love with you since your first meeting: one day, while running (he was late for training with his team), he bumped into you, knocking you to the ground; then, he stopped to help you, but by mistake he said: "You're so tiny..."; he didn't mean to be mean, and he was about to apologize, but the words got stuck in his throat after hearing you mutter: "You're the one who's tall"; that day he arrived at training not only late, but also red as a tomato
Despite the first words he told you, he thinks your height is very cute and, above all, perfect for him, since you've the right height to fit in his arms: in fact, he loves to hug you, cuddle you, or just have your body against his in some way
He'll never tease you about your height and, if someone does so, he'll run up to them and yell at them to stop (like he did to defend Kiyoko from Terushima)
He loves picking you up, especially while you kiss; sometimes he also does so to greet you after you haven't seen each other for a long time: he picks you up and turns you around, then he kisses you

The first time he met you, he was struck by your cuteness: when he had to introduce himself to you, his voice was trembling and he almost mispronounced his name (he really wanted to bury himself out of embarrassment); furthermore, he was terribly blushing and felt as if he was about to fall to the ground
When you two go out together, he's very careful not to lose you in the crowd, especially if there are a lot of people: he stands next to you and always holds your hand, not without blushing, to guide you
Once he lost sight of you in a store and got very worried; he looked for you in every lane, he was desperate, until he heard the loudspeaker: "Mr. Kageyama Tobio, come to cashier 12. We've found your daughter."; he tried not to laugh all the way home
His favorite thing to do is rest his head on yours, as your height is perfect for him to lean over, while hugging you from behind (because otherwise you would see his face red)
If he sees you cheering for him during a game, he'll feel very excited; if you even wore his jersey, he would literally die of embarrassment (Tsukishima will never let him forget it) and work even harder
Tsukishima K.
Whenever he can, he teases you a lot: he never misses an opportunity to do so, either through his gestures (for example by resting his arm on your head as if it were an armrest), or with words ("Oh? Sorry, I didn't see you, you're too small.")
Furthermore, speaking of words, he comes up with every nickname having to do with short for you: "chibi" (small) or "chibi-chan", "my little one" (with great emphasis on little)...
However, if someone makes fun of you, he stands to his full height and glares at him: he's the only one who can tease you
If you wear his clothes, which are literally huge on you, he takes the opportunity to tease you about your height, but he only does it to prevent you from noticing his embarrassment; if you also puff out your cheeks or pout in irritation, he'll have to cover the lower part of his face with one of his hands to prevent you from seeing his deep blush
One thing that amuses him a lot is when you try to kiss him, but of course you can't do it if he doesn't lean down ("Oh? Are you too short to reach me, chibi-chan?" "Shut up and lean down so I can kiss you, dummy!")
Yamaguchi T.
If you play with his hands and compare them with your smaller ones, he'll melt and blush very heavily; nevertheless, he loves holding your hands, precisely because they're much smaller than his
When he sees you in his clothes, especially in his team jersey, he gets so embarrassed he has to put his hands in front of his face or hide it in other ways; the first time he saw you like that, he fainted for a few minutes and, after he recovered, he couldn't look at you for fear of becoming dazed looking at your cuteness
He'll also die of embarrassment if you grab him by the collar of his shirt or the tie to lower him to your height and kiss him
Although he's a really shy person, I think there are moments when he becomes more bold and courageous: one of those is if someone makes fun of you (really, he totally transforms into another person and yells at them you're perfect just the way you're)
Some are subtle moments where he playfully teases you, but he stops as soon as he notices you're offended or saddened; others happen when he spontaneously picks you up to help you reach overhead objects you can't reach on your own or when you kiss
Nishinoya Y.
Since he isn't the tallest, and sometimes he felt bad about it, he doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable or sad about your height: if you were ever unhappy due to that, he, unexpectedly serious, would take your hands in his, whispering softly to you you're perfect just the way you're
Instead, if he were the one who hurt you, he would literally kneel at your feet begging you for forgiveness
He loves when you see each other after a long time and you run towards him and jump on him, holding him like a koala; he always grabs and spins you around a couple of times, and then he kisses you
Since sometimes neither you nor he can reach objects too high up on the shelves, he lifts you up to get them; one day, he did a really stupid thing: he took you on his shoulders, but unfortunately he slipped and you both fell to the ground (obviously he broke your fall and you didn't hurt yourself)
One day, during the time out of a match during which he wasn't in perfect shape, he saw you in the stands cheering him on while wearing his jersey; from that moment on, in that match no ball touched the ground in Karasuno's field

"Y/n!" Yamaguchi called out, stopping you from your tracks. "What do you want Tadashi..?" You mumbled, not really wanting to talk to his bestfriend. It's just gonna serve as a painful reminder, and you can't really deal with it right now.
"Are you oka-"
"Am I okay?! Are you being serious right now!? Yams, my boyfriend replaced me with Yachi!" You scoffed in disbelief, as Yamaguchi looked at you worriedly. The rage you are bottling up finally eploded and landed on poor Tadashi.
Word has already gone out and almost all students are either looking at you with pity or whispering the recent even that happened to their friend.
You didn't care anymore, Tsukishima Kei did you dirty. That scheming slimy bastard, you should've known. Even when you told yourself to be ready if his feelings weren't true, it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt less.
It probably hurts even more.
Yamaguchi looked around, he only then noticed the people who are crowding around you. He grabbed your hand and whisked you away to the rooftop, the stares and gossiping slowly dissappearing.
"It isn't fair.." You continued to cry, sobbing loudly as Yamaguchi looked at you with unknown emotions. "I know Y/n... I'll be here. Always." He tucked your stray hair in your neck with delicate fingers and wiped your tears away with his handkerchief.
The faint smell of Yamaguchi's cologne invaded your nostrils as you held the handkerchief along with his hand on your cheek, trying to find some sort of comfort.
You were caught off guard when he hugged you. Although you stayed silent and let him cage u in his caring arms.
Yamaguchi felt your body around him relax, a smile overtook his features as he nuzzled his face in your hair. The two of you always cuddle like this so it's no big deal, the only thing he needs to do is calm his raging heart. Atleast you can rest for a bit before facing the reality.
Next thing you knew, you were pulled away and Yamaguchi on the ground, getting punched.
"What- KEI! LET GO OF HIM!" You yelled, frantically runing and planning to stop the fight.
"This is what you wanted didn't you!?" Tsukishima yelled at his bestfriend, gripping the collar of his uniform in a vice grip. Never had you seen the two friends fight or even get into pretty serious fights with each other. It was always just a light hearted banter.
"You dumbass! Don't blame me for the stupid things you did!" Yamahuchi yelled back before landing a solid hit on Tsukishima's face.
"Yams! Please!" You yelled, trying to get in between, you heard Tsukishima scoff. "Seriously? I didn't know you could move on so fast Y/n-"
Slap.
The stinging sensation then made Tsukishima realized that is what he recieved from you. Your anger finally boiled over the more you stare at him. "Don't even start with me, Kei. You left me for her without even breaking up with me." You uttered, dangerously calm.
Yachi stood on the door leading to the rooftop as three pairs of eyes landed on her form.
"Kei-chan.. You told me you two broke up months ago.."

You threw your head back and laughed.
"Kei-chan, I thought you were smart!" He gritted his teeth, "I can explain-"
Yachi teared up and left hurriedly, Tsukishima scrambling to get up and ran after her. The sight alone made your heart hurt. It made you realize one thing.
He never cared for you like he does for Yachi. He likes her better than you.
Tears threatened to spill from your eyes as you heard Tsukishima yelling for her, voice full of emotions. You laughed as you felt your already broken heart getting trampled all over again.
"I should've known.." You mumbled as you furiously wiped your eyes. Yamaguchi groaned as he stood up and staggered over you. "Are you okay..?" He looked at you worriedly, putting his hand on your face to cup your cheek.
"Im fine, but you on the other hand.. You should worry about yourself. Let me treat your wounds." You said while grabbing your emergency first aid kit. Yamaguchi raised a brow as an amused smile made it's way on his face.
You rolled your eyes at him, "Yea, I have one. I'm on the track and field dummy, I can get scrapes and stuff like that since im clumsy." He hissed as he felt the antiseptic stinging on the cut near his brow. He winced as you continued to clean all the wounds he acquired earlier from the fight.
You clicked your tounge as you stared at him, examining your work, all patched up thanks to you. "Tell me you're not the only one injured." Yamaguchi let out a laugh "I probably busted his lip?" You let out a chuckle. "Good. Because If you didn't i would've given him one myself."
Tsukishima manuevers around the sea of students to find the blonde heather, he felt his heart rate pick up as fear clawed him on his insides, scanning the crowd. He tries to keep his composure but it slowly crumbles apart every second. He didn't care if people is staring at him, heck he can't even feel his busted lip dripping down with blood and pulsing in pain.
Then there she was.
He felt like he could breathe again as he saw the familiar short blonde hair with a small ponytail on the side. He took big strides towards the quivering frame.
"Don't come near me."
He felt his body freeze, halting in his tracks. "Yachi." He said, voice full of emotions. Yachi turned to face him, tear tracks ran down her face as her eyes became puffy and bloodshot.
"Why?"
Tsukishima furrowed his brows, "what do you mean?" Yachi shook with anger, "why did you lie to me?! Do you think I'll be happy knowing the fact I stole you away from Y/n?!"
Tsukishima opened his mouth then closed it, he couldn't find the right words to say to the girl crying across him. "I love you, Tsukishima. But I don't want us to be together. Not like this. Not when someone is hurting, we won't be happy." Yachi said as she turned and slowly walked away.
Tsukishima could feel his heart shatter, he fucked up.
"...but I love you..."
Yachi stopped at his proclamation, not bothering to even turn around as she resumed to walk away.
Tsukishima let his hands dropped to his sides as he looked down, gritting his teeth. He fucked up and he knows it would be too late to fix.
Yamaguchi looked at you longingly, he tried to keep his feelings at bay since you were already his bestfriend's girlfirend. Evrytime he saw you always trying to make your relationship with Kei makes his heart hurt. It should've been him that's with you.
He could've treat you right.
Now, you're here before him, broken. Maybe, just maybe.. He could help you build yourslef up and make you realize your worth.
Tadashi would wait, even if its a month or 100 years.
He wouldn't mind. Your wellbeing comes first.
After a few years
A gentle breeze made you look more ethereal.
Tsukishima noticed, he stood in the midst of the Karasuno's Volleball Club Reunion. Of course you would be here, even if you weren't officially a manager.
You were the wife of the former captain of Karasuno Volleyball Club after all.
He watched you acting like a watch man as children of his former team mates play with each other. Suddenly, a girl no older than five years old tripped and fell.
"Mamaa!" She yelled out, fat tears staining her freckle-coated cheeks. You rushed towards her, wiping her face. "I told you to be careful..." You sighed, as you brushed her long locks similar to yours.
Tsukishima widened his eyes in realization, is she...?
"Everything alright?"
Yamaguchi emerged, looking concerned while staring at his child and wife. You looked at him and chuckled, your husband is such a worrywart. Yamaguchi picked up his daughter "She tripped, thank goodness there's no cuts." You said as you continued to wipe her face.
Tsukishima's heart ached at the sight, but somehow, he cannot look away. So many what if's ran through his head the lonnger he stared at the child you and Yamaguchi created.
Stop it. You're torturing yourself.
Tsukishima balled his fist as unshed tears threatened to pour down his face the longer he stared at the family across him. More specifically, the child filled with curiosity staring at him with your husband's eyes that seem to haunt him everytime.
If only Tsukishima didn't do those things, the way he made you feel, the way he let you slip past his fingertips..
Then maybe, your child could've had his eyes.

He most definately looked up the meanings for almost every flower he could get his hands on.
When he confesses, it's probably in a very non-crowded spot, like on school grounds after hours.
He would want to take you to the nearby park to look at the tadpoles in the pond because he's just a sweet little wierdo like that.
