I headcanon that Nikolai Gogol suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder. He has an uncanny obsession with freeing himself from his emotions and essentially separating himself from humanity. It makes sense to me that this obsession would come from a place of feeling his emotions far too strongly for far too long; controlled entirely by overwhelming fear and sadness and mania and panic. Nikolai seeks to strip himself of humanity in desperate hopes that he'll be able to FINALLY get off his rollercoaster and feel remotely stable for the first time in his life... and I think it's quite possible that he, being so different, never felt human to begin with. ⇝Dazai Osamu

As a self-shipper, I would like to think that he is straight; but as some of you might know I'm also a soukoku shipper, so I'm gonna go with Bi-sexual. I don't want to discuss soukoku here/in this blog because it's definitely not the right place for it, but if you were interested you just have to look up instagram or soukoku blogs on tumblr to find out more. anyway, I think that he's bi-sexual, but the reason he doesn't really show it or even ignores his attraction to men (By men I mean Chuuya leave me alone) at some point, is because he used to be sexually abused in his childhood, and by Mori.

Now this is just a theory, but many fans believe that Asagiri wrote the characters based on the main role of the author's book, and if you had read No longer human, you know that the main role- which is similar in so many ways to Dazai- was being sexually abused at a young age. This actually could be one of the many reasons why Dazai isn't interested in being in a relationship and prefers one night stands, but it's only a theory.

⇝Kunikida Doppo

I'm most certain that he's straight. In the novel "Dazai's entrance exam", or in the 6th and 7th episode of the anime, we all witnessed how he got annoyed everytime He saw Dazai chatting with Sasaki, and well, Sasaki was Author Kunikida's wife in real life, so, my point.

I also think that he's ideals for his future mate is based on a woman's personality, but We can never be sure until we find out what he has written in that book of his.

Pansexual. Why? Well, Atsushi just doesn't look like a person who would care about formalities in his s/o, like about their appeariance, how they look, what they wear, or even their gender. Though in the series we only saw him getting all shy and blushed around girls, but I think What Atsushi is interested in and cares about is their personality. If he finds a person who's kind, sweet and caring, he will fall for them regardless of who they are and what they are like.

In a ranchuu mood so here's some late night headcanons !!!

Chuuya does all the chores at home. He doesn't trust Ranpo with any of them, but when the latter is trying to apologize, he starts picking up things to clean and cooking (burning) something for chuuya to eat. This is usually how chuuya knows he's done something stupid and/or wants something

The way the ada found out they were dating vs the way the PM found out are complete opposites. One lazy day at the office someone wondered how the gravity manipulator was doing, ranpo said something a little intimate, which had everyone surprised. There was a whole "why are you protecting him?!" "Because I LOVE HIM!!" moment like in the movies and everyone just went😦

Chuuya definitely confessed first. It was out of frustration that he had been flirting with ranpo for a while now but he seemed to not be getting the hint.

Chuuya hates when ranpo makes fun of his hats but finds it unbelievably sexy when he wears them while they fuck. Something about how the weight of the hat drapes his hair against his sweaty forehead just makes him melt

When it comes to Dazai's opinions, I could see it going either way. In one, he's perfectly fine with their relationship, the slug is ranpo's problem now. He'll probably tell him all of chuuyas dirty little secrets too

On the other hand, he could feel uncomfortable that chuuya had moved on, especially with someone he interacts with almost daily. Everytime he looks at ranpo from his desk all he can imagine are his hands caressing chuuyas body, his chin resting on his neck, his nose deep into his orange hair and smelling his expensive shampoo. That was me once, he thinks, and while he may not have wanted to get back together with chuuya, he still gets a bit uncomfortable

Ranpo loves sweets, chuuya hates them. Chuuya loves wine, ranpo says it tastes like fermented grape piss. Chuuya takes good care of his hair and body, maintaining a skin and hair care routine religiously. Ranpo uses those 4-in-1 shampoo as conditioner, soap, and toothpaste.

Ranpo likes to yap and chuuya likes to listen. He can listen to ranpo go on and on about who knows what all day, even being interested enough to ask questions and react. He doesn't realize how important that is to ranpo.

Chuuya loves shopping, and his clothes are all expensive and trendy. Ranpo will only go shopping for clothes if he absolutely has to, and he hates it. It's boring walking around and fitting dumb shirts and pants, it's tiring too. For a while fukuzawa had to buy him new clothes since ranpo wouldn't even if his pants had holes in them. When chuuya found out about this, he forced him to go out on a shopping spree with him to get him all new clothes, and ranpo hated every second of it. But he did like that chuuya spent the whole day with him.

Ranpo is the one who makes the playlists. I like to think chuuya doesn't have a lot of time to just relax and enjoy music, so ranpo is the one who knows more bands or genres. He occasionally makes playlists using insults for chuuya as the titles, and chuuya says he hates it but he listens to them every night they are apart.

They're both okay with PDA, but ranpo is definitely the more clingy one. He'll suddenly manhandle chuuya while they're walking on the street bc he saw a couple walk past them holding hands. He'll be the one to initiate the cuddle sessions and the last one to pull away from a hug.

Chuuya is very independent so he doesn't act as clingy as ranpo does. But when he asks for affection, it's usually really subtle, and it makes him upset if ranpo doesn't see it right away. He's insecure and so his mind goes off the rails, wondering if ranpo just doesn't love him anymore. But ranpo is always there to reassure him.

Arguments are the lifeblood of this relationship, but in a healthier way than it was for skk. For skk, there was a lot of hate and anger involved, that was what fueled the fire of their relationship. For ranchuu, it's easier bc it's more light-hearted and the words are never meant to actually hurt. It's usually insults that don't even offend either one of them, and arguments about small things no one really cares about. But what it's based on is not as violent as skk.

Chuuya def has a higher libido than ranpo. Sometimes he'll suddenly get horny and ask ranpo to "take care of it". Usually it's triggered by something ranpo did, like something he wears, or said, or him acting responsible for a change. As for ranpo, he gets horny a little less frequently than that, but he still gets up on his high horse to call chuuya needy when he's practically climbing up his leg.

They are both young orphans with remarkable abilities, and so they've received a lot of praise for their strength/wit. So when they hear them now, it sounds almost empty, hollow even. They don't get anything from it now. But getting compliments from literally anybody else? that's what gets their hearts going.

He was an only child. As a semi-only child, I can tell. Trust me.

And like the real Dazai Osamu, he was raised in a highly respected and powerful household—though I headcanon Dazai to have been born in a noble family

BIG mama’s boy. Was very clingy to his mom

One of the reasons he grew super clingy to his mom was because of his father being mostly absent (again, like the real Dazai Osamu)

He was in Dazai’s life, but he was rather…grayish, transparent in his life; not in the picture, busy with work blahblahblah

Dazai did try to create some sort of father-son bond with his father—but he just gave up after a while, noticing that his dad didn’t show interest in putting effort into building a bond with him the way Dazai did

Dazai would/did try to make conversation about his interests in false hopes of his father making time for him

But his dad would just brush him off with comments like “that’s nice, but I’m a bit busy right now. Why don’t you go and tell your mom the rest?”

After a while Dazai even grew to hate his dad… no specific reason given. Perhaps how he never wanted to be a true father to him—his own son.

So, yeah. Big mama’s boy. Would give his mom random hugs, come back from their garden with some of the prettiest flowers picked and in his hand for his mom (along with his clothes covered in mf dirt)

And again, like the real Dazai Osamu, his mother was ill.

I personally like to think that his mom wasn’t the best mentally. Maybe because of her relationship with her husband and depression…

But she was always full of love for Dazai, pampered him, spoiled him and treated him with so much care that you’d think of Dazai as someone fragile and easily breakable.

Always defended Dazai with her life, seriously

He was a golden child and I will die on this hill

Dazai was perfect in everything he did, but he only did things he or his mother liked.

Couldn't care less about others or whether he would hurt their feelings (unless it would upset his mom and his mom only obviously)

And the reason he could no longer see the point in life or living at such a young age (+his ‘obsession’ with s*icide and death)

Was because of his own mother taking her life and Dazai having to witness it… The only person he held so dear…

Chuuya’s parents weren’t blessed with a child even after years of marriage…

…So when he was born, they were so happy that they celebrated 3 days and nights (like the real Chuuya Nakahara !!)

Such a sweet boy… very polite and a tiny bit shy

He actually had an amazing bond with both his parents

And they loved him a lot, too!

How mini Chuuya would help his mom around the house, how he would randomly tell her that he loves her :,^)

Chuuya was probably interested in his father’s work (military doctor, like the real Chuuya’s father!!)

AUGHH he would peek at his dad working with those big blue curious eyes

Also, unlike Dazai, I headcanon that Chuuya has siblings!

2 little sisters!!

When his first little sister was born, he was probably around 3 or 4

Was quick to grow attached to his sister

And when his second sister came around, he was around 7

Was very overprotective of his sisters, and had a big soft spot for them

Would piggyback carry their younger sister every morning to school while holding his other sisters hand

Brilliant kid

Adored by absolutely everyone and everything

Chuuya and the family dinners with the rest of the Nakahara family SIGHHH

His mom always worried about him not eating enough (even though he did.)

His dad developed this hobby and habit of checking Chuuya and his sisters’ heights and mark them on the wall

Chuuya wasn’t the happiest when he figured that his younger sister was nearly the same height as him…

And regarding Stormbringer and how he was put in a lab…

Ohhh how his mom was losing her mind over Chuuya’s father allowing such a thing

His family kind of… grew distant and fell apart from then on

Constant arguing between his parents while he was in the lab… how his sister would cover their younger sister’s ears each time they’d argue

She’d ask where Chuuya had gone every now and then, but it was like a forbidden topic in the house

His mom would either tear up or just lash out on his sister

And his dad would yell and cuss her out, saying things like “Goddammit stop asking stupid questions! He’s fine for god’s sake!!! Be patient and he’ll be back sooner than you think!!!”

Chuuya’s dad wasn’t very happy with the decision he made either

Regretting it like crazy and losing sleep, losing focus…

And once the news broke that their one and only son was dead (aka his clone… fuck stormbringer bro…)

His family was worse than ever before.

Chuuya’s dad cried… a lot. Fell into being an alcoholic for a long time

His sisters? Despite their young age and how they couldn’t wrap their heads around the idea of death…

They were devastated. Completely had their hearts and souls shattered

But his mom… she was the worst out of them all

It broke her so much that she couldn’t even cry over her son’s death

She was left in a daze, unaware of her surroundings and just… in her own world

Though, once it registered in her mind? How she would scream and cry at odd hours of the night, begging for Chuuya…

She would push away anyone who would try to comfort her, hit them and curse them out, only wanting Chuuya

Even though Chuuya’s ‘death’ had sunk in and she understood it, she’d scream at everyone to get away from her and that ‘only Chuuya can come close to her’

S*icide attempts became a regular thing

…the amount of times Chuuya’s dad was called during work hours and just rushed home to stop his wife from taking her life…

His sister lost sleep and stopped being the top student at school because of how difficult everything had become

Their younger sister was a bit better, considering she was small

But it still hurt, she’d call Chuuya out of habit, just to remember that he was never gonna answer her calling out to him

His mom’s situation got so bad that she was hospitalized for years

And even now that the entire Nakahara family has accepted Chuuya’s ‘death’

His mom hasn’t. She’s doing a lot better than before getting hospitalized but…

She always seems to be spaced out. She doesn’t smile or laugh, and even when she does… it seems forced and it’s only for a brief moment

His mom doesn’t talk much, not to anyone

She often spends her time talking to framed pictures of Chuuya. She still cries every now and then, but tries to hide it…

And honestly? I think that Chuuya has considered going back to his family

He’s coincidentally seen his sisters and made sure they got home safely from school/work while watching from afar… then return to his own work

It scares him to go back, not only because of him putting their lives on the line for being a mafia executive

But also because he’s supposed to be ‘dead’. That’s what his family believed and has learned to live with…

So if he were to show up at his childhood home, he’d make them confused

And he can’t even imagine how they would react if he were to go back

So Chuuya just watches over them from a distance…

But maybe, just maybe one day he’ll gather up the courage and listen to the voice in his head telling him to go back

That day won’t be anytime soon, not now. He can’t go back until he’s sure the time is right for him to do so.

Until then, Chuuya just prays that they’ll stay safe and alive…

That’s when he can return to his family, his home…

Turn offs 

Chuuya is someone who has been through alot and has been manipulated in the past so if you are an manipulative person, he’d dislike that especially if you tried to manipulate him 

He doesn’t like weak minded or willed people. If you are easily swayed or don’t stand up for your beliefs, he’d think that's a weakness thus unattractive to him. 

He also doesn’t like superficial people i.e. someone who is only with him for his looks/ status or money. He may have all of those but he’s a busy man who doesn’t have time to waste on superficial people who don’t genuinely care for him 

He wont like anyone controlling either. If you don’t respect him enough to trust his decisions and have faith in his actions then he doesn't want you. He is a Port Mafia Executive for a reason and that reason is that he’s capable of taking care of situations by himself and making decisions

Going off the controlling part, he would hate it if his S/O or someone he’s interested in tried to change him i.e. get him to leave the Port Mafia. He’s devoted to the Mafia and he won’t leave them for anyone, no matter how special they are. It is part of his life and if they try change that, he views it as them not respecting him which is a huge turn off 

He wouldn't want an overly clingy S/O as he is often away on missions so he’d find someone who is overly reliant on him unattractive as it clashes with his lifestyle 

On the flip side he wouldn’t want someone who would smother/baby him too much as he’d find it insulting and demeaning to his reputation and himself. He is perfectly capable of looking after himself so someone babying him would irritate him I think 

Chuuya is someone who would enjoy teasing in my opinion but someone who teases him in public or flirts in order to annoy him would get under his skin and annoy him thus he’d view it as a turn off

On the other hand Chuuya would find it unattractive if someone one was too serious or couldn’t let loose. If they were too uptight and didn’t know how to have fun once in a while Chuuya would find them dull. 

Turn ons 

Chuuya finds it insanely attractive if someone lives life to the fullest and enjoys trying new things. If they are willing to go for random 3am motorcycle rides and watch the stars or go on a spontaneous trip to Paris, Chuuya will love them

He also finds it attractive if they introduce new things to him, since he works alot he doesn't often have time to try out new new things so if his S/O can show him a new bar in Yokohama or a new type of cuisine he’s never tried before, he’ll love them. This man chases after life and living life to the fullest so anyone who can help him is attractive to him 

He likes someone who is independent and can take care of themselves. He doesn’t need the responsibility of making sure his S/O is okay so he likes it if they can take care of themselves so he doesn’t have to worry about them while he’s busy on missions. 

He also likes strong minded people who aren’t afraid of backing down on their beliefs and opinions. He finds this attractive as it takes guts to stick by what you believe, which is something he greatly respects. 

He would like someone intelligent so he can talk to them and have deep conversations about whatever he likes, he dislikes superficial conversation in my opinion. 

We all know that Chuuya takes great care in his appearance, so he'd find it attractive if his S/O did the same.  Someone with good fashion taste would be ideal for CHuuya. I can see this man wanting to have matching outfits (stylish of course.)

He’d like it if his S/O was affectionate and showed him that they love him with small gestures like running him a bath when he got home or cooking him dinner. He is someone who’d appreciate physical affection so an affectionate S/O would be ideal for him. 

Someone who is mature enough to deal with his trauma would also be ideal, so someone who is open minded and a good listener would be attractive as it lets him vent when he needs to.  Also allows him to carry on working where he’s happy while having the support he needs. 

Finally I believe he’d find patience attractive. Someone who can handle his bad temper and still keep calm would be attractive as it would give him space to calm down as well and rationally talk things out rather than them escalating situation with their own temper.
