time and time again we see how online bigotry leads to real world violence and yet there are still people who argue that it's "not serious" and should "just be ignored". there are people openly mocking and making fun of the murder of a child just because she was trans, that is disgusting dangerous behavior and needs to be called out as such. One day I will become a scientist and cure cancer. My parents are awesome. I am not related in any of you by any mean but this conversation was making me sad and angry.

I am sixteen, a cis girl. I still believe that gender is a social construct, because it always has been.

There’s an history of trans people since the Antiquity, maybe even before (I’ll have to check that, I don’t know exactly). Non-binary and intersex people have been here since the dawn of human society.

Trans animals exist ; in fact, it’s not even that rare. Some species have more than 200 different sexes. Some species are literally genderfluid. Why would humans be any other way ?

People exist and are weird. Still, it’s important to go out of your home and talk to them, to confront opinions and make your own. However, it gives you no right to insult them or deny them their identity. After all, they are the best placed to talk about it, aren’t they ? You won’t tell someone who they are ?

The world is changing as always, and it comes with more acceptance. People will live, die et cætera, and when only bones remain they will not be here anymore to care about it.

There are biological XX men. There are biological XY women. There are XXY, X and Y people who can or not qualify as intersex.

They are people. Not retarded, and able to make their own decisions by themselves.

I don’t think you will change your mind, maybe it won’t even affect you. I don’t say this for you, but for everyone else who might see this discussion and be sad about it.

Life is wonderful, and the "block" button exist. Make your life easier.

Also my grandfather died of cancer and my father had one, and my other grandfather has one at the moment, so I think I know a bit about it and it don’t just « regulates itself ». Cancer kills.

You should NOT have to feel guilty at all for not being able to do anything about this. Surviving is enough, and your survival is so so SO important! So do what you have to to survive, turn off the news and blacklist some phrases and tags if you feel overwhelmed. Do some comforting activities today. And remember, no matter what they do, they will NOT erase us!!! We will survive as a whole even if we must witness suffering before this is over.

If you are questioning if you're on the path of good, good. Question further, google "anti-trans debunked". I cant speak for everyone on my side, but I know some of us will accept you if you turn back and learn the harm you've been causing.

But if you're all for this? Your days are numbered. I'll PERSONALLY make sure of it. I will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of my trans brethren. You're the ones who should be scared, genocidal scum.

I’m horrified by the literal, this-is-not-a-joke, actual goddamn genocide already gaining steam in the Northern Hemisphere’s taint-stain I mean South, the US South. I hate that I am watching human rights get rolled back with every election cycle. I am more ashamed of my country every day.

As a Californian I feel like I can’t do much politically, except vote and sign petitions and write long emails to various representatives (find yours here), but I can at least tell you about some resources I know of:

This Maine-based advocacy group can hook you up with everything from literature to social events to legal advice.

This advocacy group has tons of information and counselors, with FAQs for many relevant topics including surgery prep.

This online support group discusses the ins and outs of medical transitioning.

This discord server has several LGBTQIA+ groups.

This risk assessment map can predict just how bad your state might get in the next two years.

This nonprofit can help you find safe housing, free food, legal council, and even a job.

This organization can help you if you’re about to be homeless.

This hotline can help you find a safe place to sleep tonight.

These folks, and these folks, and these folks, can give you free legal advice, including help with emancipating from your parents if you’re a minor.

These folks, and these folks, and these folks, can also give you free legal advice, including help with seeking asylum or refugee status.

This Lifeline is a wealth of suicide prevention resources.

I just realized there's no real way for terfs to define "woman" without excluding other women or including some men.

I'm sure a lot of their audience who see "gender minotaur" or "gender Tootsie Roll Pops" will completely write off this woman and claim she is a nutcase.

But conservatives and Fox News love to omit context and nuance.

The implied Fox narrative is that Dr. Ehrensaft is creating silly genders and then labeling kids as minotaurs or smoothies.

In reality, she is describing all of the creative ways young kids and teens use to explain how they feel about their gender.

These kids probably don't have a lot of information or the vocabulary to express themselves in more traditional terms, so they've come up with analogies to help adults understand what they are feeling.

That doesn't seem ridiculous at all.

And I actually think these kids are quite clever.

So these conservatives are basically making fun of kids who are confused and seeking help to understand themselves.

Real classy.

And if these kids learn adults are making fun of them, they may feel embarrassed to use these communicative tools—making it that much harder for their therapists and doctors to help them.
