....well *looks behind her to see her cousin on the chandelier with her other cousin trying to get them off with a broom, a part of the living room on fire as her best friend sits on the couch filing her nails * ...MOOD, BITCH

Jason: I don't get paid enough for this.

Marinette: Paid for what?

Jason: *gestures to his family*

Big Brother to the Rescue!

This fic was inspired by @justcourttee - A Brother’s Love. I loved her fic and I couldn’t stop thinking….what if this happened?

Jason sighed, rereading the text he had gotten again from Gina.

Nona: Jay, I am unable to get to Paris in the time I wished. My son and his wife are having problems with my Little Fairy. They claim her to be a bully and a brute, but I know this is not my Little Fairy. I am her guardian now and my plan was to bring her with me. Go in my stead and take her to Gotham. She told me she has a date with her boyfriend, Adrien Agreste. Break the news to her gently.

Gina had traveled with him for awhile and was always there for him when he got in a fight with Bruce. They could disappear on the road and travel, forget their worries. Gina had told him about her granddaughter, her ‘Little Fairy’, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She was an inspiring fashion designer, who was also her class’ president. She had designed for Jagged Stone and won a contest from Gabriel Agreste. She even had the opportunity to be mentored by Style Queen, herself, in New York, and turned it down. Gina had told him so many things about Marinette, he felt as if she was his little sister. When Gina told him that Pixie was getting bullied again and no one would help or see her side of things, he had gotten upset. Even her boyfriend had told her to make peace with the bully and to let it go. She had never asked him for a favor before and he didn’t want to let her down.

Jason had taken the first flight to Paris to bring his little sister home to Gotham. He watched as she left the bakery and pressed the button to head to the park when her phone rang.

“Adrien? Yeah, I’m just heading-Oh. Ye-Yeah, I can meet you there instead. Sure. Bye.” Marinette spoke and quickly took off in another direction.

One of my favorite devices in fics is when the narrator contradicts a character's internal monologue:

Character: I do not have a crush

Narrator: it was more like a demolition

Character: I'm absolutely, under no circumstances going after him/ her/ them

Narrator: I give it 3 minutes before he cracks

__________________________________

Character: I'm not whipped

Narrator: he was whipped like cream

so, like, i’ve thought about this before. i didn’t think it was an actual thing bc of how it is, so i was content with my silly little fantasies. thank you for bringing it to life.

That Pivotal Moment

Bumble is a ridiculous word.  Marinette did not bumble.  Bungle?  Okay, yes fine, she bungled things up a lot.  Stumble? Of course.  Stutter?  Obviously. Flounder?  All the time.  But she did not bumble.  And yet, that was the only word she could think of to describe her current behavior; unable to focus, forgetting what she meant to gather from the cabinets or desk, running into the corner of her desk… repeatedly.  Her hips were going to be black and blue by the end of the afternoon.

She was bumbling about her office.  Had been all day.  But no matter how hard she tried to force her mind to focus on color samples or color schemes or sketching or even, God forbid, invoices and taxes, she couldn’t.

She shook her head yet again and willed herself to focus on the color swatches in front of her.  She needed to pick fabric for her latest commission.  She didn’t have time to bumble.  She flipped through the swatches more aggressively than necessary until she landed on a beautiful shade of blush.  Her fingers stilled instantly as images started flashing through her mind; lips on hers, soft touches, gentle caresses, feeling like she was floating and spinning at the same time.

The smile that had found its way to her lips at the memories, slowly fell as the heart stuttering memories turned to heart shattering memories and heart cataclysming potential futures.  The possibility of losing a boyfriend she could survive.  She had before, she would again.  Some might have left her heart bruised, some left it battered, but she survived. But losing one of her best friends, someone she loved so deeply he seemed to be etched into her being… that she wouldn’t survive.
